179 | #1 Quinn was ecstatic! Her small frame could barely contain its excitement. Obsidian hooves clattered down the cobblestones towards the fields just outside of Valore. As she neared, the sounds of revelers urged her on. A fresh warm breeze caught her nostrils and the scents of fried foods and sweet delights gave her goosebumps. She didn't have much coin, but she was going to see how far she could stretch it today.
Finally she reached the field and stopped, catching her breath. A giant smile spread across her face as she saw all the different horses milling around. Stands and colorful tents dotted the landscapes and in the distance she could make out the wings of King Isador's Wyvern. The King's Wyvern is here!? She couldn't believe it!
The small donkey-appaloosa, beelined it to the beast. There was a long line ahead of her to get up close. She had no idea how much it would be. If any at all. So she tapped the person nearest her and asked, "Hey, do you have to pay to see the dragon?"

Hancock You've got a new horizon it's ephemeral style. A melancholy town where we never smile.
x | x The first thing Hancock had done once he had reached the extravagant festival grounds had been to grab himself a cup of wine, find some of those little tea cakes Joanne made and get wasted out of his mind on his day off. Wine wasn’t his first choice but hey, it made due.
But then he had seen the glistening scales of the Kings of Wyvern, almost grinning as he had lined up with the others who were all too excited to see one of the greatest symbols of Aodh in the flesh. It moved fast and in almost no time Hancock found himself in front of the beast, Head cocked as she sat there.
With a barking laugh, Hancock had turned away and continued on from the line, ignoring the stares sent his way. Walking past those waiting, he couldn’t help but catch the words of the excited filly “It’s free kid,” he grinned and winked “don’t get too close or she’ll gobble you up”
Continuing on, it wasn’t long before he could smell the fresh speciality sweet bread that Joanne was known for, his watering mouth leading the way.
Once there he couldn't help but grin at the pink haired Baker “Hit me up with two of those sweet cakes, ya know the ones I adore” he said boisterously, slamming two shards onto the stall.

Joanne Got no way to prove it, So maybe I'm blind But I'm only human after all
x | x To Joanne the festival had been both a blessing and a nightmare. Preparation for the event started a few weeks beforehand, digging out the booth and ordering new clothes and decorations, as well as a new sign that only included her own name. With the shop being run with only two other horses, it had been hectic to say the least.
But they had made it to the day, setting up in the early morning and watching as the fields began to fill with other vendors and eventually, patrons of the festival herself. Joanne had made sure to make sweets and loaves of bread for all three meals, smiling and greeting customers all morning long.
When Hancock had rounded the corner, half-empty wine glass and that smirk on his face, Joanne had merely smiled and rolled her eyes “Well hello to you too, Hancock” she snorted, raising a brow at him.
Pushing his shards back with her pink teke, she shook her head and grinned “It’s all on the house today, only the cakes on the display are for sale” the pink-haired mare explained as she retrieved two of the pastries, presenting them on a plate before him. “Gets me lots of publicity!”

323 | #2 Quinn's long ears perked up when she got confirmation that it would cost nothing to get up close to the dragon. All those stories of dragons whose wingspans would block out the sky would be confirmed in this very moment. She couldn't wait. It was badass that the King had such a familiar. It almost made her want one too.
Ahead of her Quinn heard a loud, low laugh. A palomino jauntily strode by and also confirmed that the dragon cost nothing. She was happy to hear again it would cost nothing, but his second comment soured her mood for a second. Pinning her long ears back she stuck her tongue out and wildly flicked her tail. "I'm not five you know!" She shouted at his retreating tail. With a harrumph, she turned her attention back to what she was waiting for. And in the blink of an eye she was back to being excited about the dragon.
"Have you ever seen one so big before? I've only seen the little ones that fly around the nobles. This one is so much bigger than King Amadeus'!" She looked at the brightly colored pegasus then bolted forward as the line drastically moved up.
Quinn couldn't sit still for very long. She was overwhelmed with all the things to see and do and possibly smuggle. The scents from the food vendors was causing her stomach to rumble. She should have gotten food first. But if she ended up snatching food without paying and was caught...then she wouldn't have been able to see the dragon. She stomped a cloven hoof and snorted her determination to ignore her hunger for the moment.
Looking back to the pegasus, "Did you see any particularly good food booths on your way over here?" She took a closer look at the stallion and noticed his well off look. Hmmm, maybe she could wiggle a shard or two out of his pocket.

AZEL Azel was not entirely sure if Lilith would have approved of this little excursion outside the city without any guardian, but his mother had never been particularly strict with curfew or what was allowed, so there Azel went, ready to shake off months of confinement with his siblings once and for all. Besides, he wasn’t entirely alone – a servant of the household trailed after him with a pained look, their saddlebags carrying some shards to cover purchases, and some basic snacks to feed the bastard of the Soleil house, should there be need for that.
The festival so far was all he had hoped for – there were performances to see, sweet smells of candy and other treats, as well as various games set up for adults and children alike. Azel’s small pink wings fluttered with excitement as he looked at it all. The fact that he was away from family and on his own made everything all the more exciting to him.
Azel spotted a familiar face from among the crowds, near to where Sola was being shown, and took off. This was accompanied by cursing from his unwilling companion, but soon enough the small pegasi was basically below Hancock’s chin, smiling excitably at the Pearl guard he had known for most of his life. Well, known and known. Seen anyway. Close enough.
He looked at the pink haired equine for a moment too, before beaming: “Morning Hancock! Did you see Sola?” Azel himself had already had the chance to see Sola up close when Isador showed Sola personally to him and some of the other siblings. It had been very exciting. His eyes then swirled back to the pink haired one, and Azel loudly announced: “I want some!”

Lexi | Commoner
Lexi had woken early and left the house immediately. She LOVED festivals of any kind. So much excitement, commotion, food, and fun. And while she ran around unsupervised all the time anyway, people expected it of kids at festivals so it was much easier to get away with things. She had been there since the booths opened and had already pilfered a few shards, been caught snooping around behind the curtain of the makeshift theater, drank a small glass of wine (she hated the taste, but she felt like it was what adults did), got banned completely from the theater area after swooping inches above the crowd, and just generally been a nuisance. It was a good day, and it had hardly started. But she had left the house this morning without breakfast, and now her stomach was complaining. She walked up one of the aisles, her gait bouncy and confidant, scanning the booths for something delicious. The filly had to back peddle when she heard one of the vendors say "It's all on the house today-" Free was right up her alley. Sure, she had plenty of shards, both from her mom and from unwilling volunteers, but she wasn't going to waste money on something like food, not when she had plenty of that at home. Before she could step towards the booth, two all too familiar figured appeared. She rolled her eyes in the way an older sibling often does when unexpectedly met with a younger sibling. Azel, with one of the house's slaves in tow had beat her to the free food. She approached the booth, squeezing uncomfortably close between Azel and Hancock; personal space was fairly uncommon among the Soleil children. She knew the palomino from the Pearl, of course, but she hardly acknowledged him now. He wasn't what she was here for. Her eyes scanned the baked goods - she didn't have a particularly big sweet tooth, but neither was she feeling terribly picky. "I'll take one too," she said, not as demandingly as her brother, but with a definite hint of disinterest. The two young pegasi's eyes were almost a perfectly matched pink, and their shared bloodline was not hard to guess. Lexi's eyes turned now to her brother, "Couldn't come out here without a slave, huh, Azel? Did mom make you bring them, or were you just too afraid to come by yourself?" Her voice was mocking, with that unmistakable undertone of jealousy that so often pervaded the emotions of children in household without enough attention to go around.

INGRID Ingrid had not missed the fact that Azel got out with barely an entourage. She, on the other hand, had to stomp her small cloven hooves a lot more to get her way. Oh, had she heard it all before. All the ‘crowds are not safe’ and ‘you have to be careful’s. She’d show them careful. She wasn’t a baby anymore! When she could not get out of the house without security detail, she settled on a chevalier accompanying her. At least she got to go.
Her mood improved significantly the second she reached the festival, and she instantly forgot she had been fuming. The chevalier trailing behind her looked mostly tired. So many things to see, too! She felt sort of drawn to Sola, but the line was long at that point already. She half considered seeing if everyone would let her just pass them, if she did so with enough self-assurance. She hadn’t been out in the public that many times since downing the aging potion, so there definitely was a certain allurement to testing if she would be viewed differently now.
Then, she spotted Azel, and grinned to herself. She wasn’t quite over feeling jealous of him getting to leave easily, so she sneaked closer, shaking her head to the adults talking to Azel not to say anything. Her approach and certainly a great plan of using Illusion to spook Azel was interrupted by Lexi, however. She was close enough to hear the mocking tone, and felt called out since she absolutely could not leave alone. "What's the matter, you didn't get one?" she asked, trying her best to sound like the proud little Eminent she was made to be.

= Doe = 1 | 387It wasn’t hard to convince Lilith to let her take Azel out to the festival. Any opportunity for the kid to get out of her hair was jumped on immediately by the mare and Doe was more than happy to take him out herself. She adored the little pink pegasus, her breast swelled with pride as she trotted behind him. Her joy was so strong that even the bags on her back (mixed with Peach’s weight) felt light. Even though she had the dreaded piece of metal in her mouth to show her status, she didn’t mind it today. It was a day of celebration! Not even the thick crowds could set off her anxieties. The towering figure of Sola still sent a chill down her spine, however.
Azel took off and Doe sighed with amusement to herself, picking up her pace to keep up with him. “Azel wait for me!” She called after him, easily slipping through other bodies with small apologies to them.
The foal stopped in front of a baker’s stand and Doe stood just behind him, her gaze scanning the crowd while her large ears were trained on the conversation near her. Her heart yearned to see a certain broad shouldered unicorn somewhere in the mix but knew that her love was most likely back at the Pearl with their shared girlfriend. The thought made a smile slip to her lips, even if it was tinged with the longing to be with them. Azel’s demands mixed with his sister’s brought her attention back to the present and she fished a few shards out of her bag, placing them on the baker’s counter with a polite smile. Peach chattered on her back, shifting to get a better view of the delicious pastries he smelled.
“Peach no, it’s not for you,” she murmured, earning what sounded like the build up to a tantrum scream. Before he could open his jaws wide enough, she clamped her teke around his mouth, effectively and momentarily keeping him quiet. Just in time too, as the Emin Ingrid stepped into the picture. Doe couldn’t help but stare in awe, admiring her glittering pink scales. She let out a fluttery sigh through her nostrils, only wishing she could look that graceful - as well as trade her wings out for anything. Anything.

Hancock You've got a new horizon it's ephemeral style. A melancholy town where we never smile.
x | x Feigning a heart attack, Hancock grinned and scooped up one of his sweet delights “you’re going to have all the kids flocking to your stall” he laughed before shoving the tiny cake into his mouth. Licking his lips of the powdered sugar, Hancock was reaching for his other sweet treat when suddenly one of Lilith’s little darlings was making his way to the stall.
Hancock couldn’t help but grin at the little pegasus, raising his eyebrows at him “Morning Azel! Feels like I haven’t seen you in a while. Really growin’ into those feathers, aren't yeah!” It was a genuine statement, seeing the growing colt for the first time in months He nodded his greeting at Doe before beginning to speak again. “As a matter of fact, I did see the big beast herself. Quite the sight on this beautiful morning!”
Hancock had turned back to his own sweet at Azel’s insistance at getting his own, looking at Joanne and winking at the pink haired mare. Stopping mid-bite, Hancock looked back as another of the Lilith children made an appearance, Merely nodding at the other pegasus while another child walked up. It wouldn't be long before-
yep, now they were squabbling at each other

Joanne Got no way to prove it So maybe I'm blind But I'm only human after all
x | x Joanne couldn’t help but smile as Hancock joked about and took his treats, smiling brighter as an equally pink haired colt walked up and greeted the stallion. She knew of the children had Lilith, had met many of them in passing when providing desserts for parties. And of course she had met the mare herself through Leila, but not for any extended period of time.
Watching Hancock interact with the slowly growing group was funny though, raising a brow at him as the three siblings began to speak to each other in rather sarcastic tones. Joanne had stifled a laugh, but when she had spotted the slave trailing behind the pink haired colt, her smile had almost faded completely.
The harness made her wince inwardly, and Joanne knew she had stared a moment too long. With practised ease she was back to her smiling self, setting down three plates of assorted treats for all three kids (Taking a moment to realize that there was a living breathing kirin in front of her now as well) “Don’t worry, I’ve got plenty to go around for you all!” she laughed, winking before gently pushing the shards towards the slave “All on the house today, unless anyone of you is looking to buy a party cake to bring home.”

AZEL Azel really would have preferred to spend the festival without seeing any of his siblings – he’d had plenty enough of them at the Villa – but suddenly Lexi was there, mocking him. Azel peered up angrily at the older and taller pegasus, and puffed his wings to make himself look bigger too. It did not really work, but that didn’t stop the child from trying. Lexi jabbed at him, making the foal’s eyes narrow, and his mouth opened for a comeback. Then Ingrid joined the group as well, and Azel felt better about his chances of winning an argument against his older sibling.
“Yeah, it’s not our fault mom doesn’t care if you disappear, Lexi”, Azel replied, smiling sweetly before turning his attention to the bakery stand, he took the tasty treat handed to him, shutting up for a while simply to enjoy it. And what a treat it was. Azel got plenty of sugary goods at home, but there was something special about eating something not made by the Palace or Villa staff, especially outside at a fair. Everything tasted better at a party.
He made a point of turning his butt towards Lexi, and instead smiled up at Hancock when he had eaten all of the pastry. “I think I’ll be able to fly soon”, he told the guard proudly, flapping his small wings. It got some air under them, but there was absolutely no lift off. He stood closer to Doe, and gave a beaming smile to each of the adults, clearly expecting someone to compliment him.

Isador King
It was a glorious morning.
Isador knew that he should be feeling more serious, but as he moved among the crowd and listened to the joyful, excited chatter of his citizen, the King could only find it within himself to feel… light. Unburdened, almost. At least for the time being, he could live in the moment and not allow the pressures of his job to rule his every thought. It was a bit easier to do that, he figured, when one had a Wyvern watching his back.
Pulling his gaze momentarily from the milling crowd (at least a quarter of them appeared to be some branch of the Lilith tree, Isador noted in some dismay) the King again looked over at Sola. Feeling his gaze, the beast cocked one glittering eye back at him, before laying her head down carefully again and breathing out a thin wisp of smoke, startling squeals from those closest to her.
It was good for the populace to see her, to know her. More than perhaps any of them, she, she was a piece of Ignacio, given flesh and blood to soar among them, resplendent in gold and inspiring greatness in every Aodhian heart. It was as god intended, and it was good. Isador tipped his face up, momentarily closing his eyes as he felt the sun gild him in its warmth and fill him with contentment.
“Are you enjoying yourself?” He asked his companion quietly, turning his face away from the sun (but still feeling its pull, its mark on him). Isador’s gaze fastened on Bonnie, and he felt something similar kindle in his heart, similar to the embers fanned to life when Sola locked her eyes with his. Another relic of Ignacio, and she walks among us. Isador’s eyes traced familiarly over Bonnie’s delicate, magnificent antlers, something he never tired of.
Diminutive and eccentric, Bonnie still managed to captivate Isador in a way he was unused to. He was increasingly coming to find he did not begrudge her this, nor the fluttering way she often managed to surprise him, and lighten his mood.
It was a glorious morning indeed.

INGRID Ingrid smiled at Doe - that perfect sweetheart smile she had learned and mastered from a very young age. Who didn’t love being admired? Her expression changed with Azel’s jab at Lexi, though, and she sneered in a lot less sweet manner. “Yeah, not our fault”, she echoed. She might have been older than Azel, technically, now that she had had the aging potion, but it was still extremely easy for her to sink into his level. She, too, shut up long enough to stuff her face with the treat, however. Who knew, maybe her siblings would nab it if she didn’t take it fast enough.
Then Azel started boasting about his wings, and Ingrid shortly pouted. It didn’t seem like there was attention to be had, and she decided to let Azel be a distraction as she skittered away with a swish of her long tail. The poor chevalier tasked with following her had thought he could afford a moment to eat a treat, too, now that the kids were momentarily still, and it almost got lodged into his throat when he realized the kirin Eminent was no longer with the bunch.
Ingrid had other plans, and trotted towards the hot coals. When she spotted the King among the crowd half way, she slowed to a more dignified walk. She stared at the other kirin hungrily, and abandoned her coal walking ideas to get a better look and sneaked closer instead. She knew it wasn’t polite to stare, but she did anyway - trusting it would go unnoticed in a festival like this. Hiding among a crowd when people were staring at you, too, just wasn’t exactly the easiest task.

Lexi | Commoner
It wasn't something that Lexi would admit to, even to herself, but Azel's jab hit too close to home. She glared at him, but he was already turning away. Her teke snatched a few treats off the plate, and she whipped her head around at Ingrid. Her sister had, of course, been intriguing at birth. No one else (well, other than her myriad of siblings, that was) could boast to having a kirin sibling. But the excitement quickly wore off once it was obvious just how much more attention the younger foal got than any of them. It certainly didn't help when she was given an aging potion, though thankfully she had aged up to just a bit younger than Lexi herself. She would not have been able to stand the majestic filly being older, though maybe then she would have gotten out of her hair sooner. Probably not. Lexi had the feeling that Ingrid's name would always be there just within earshot. The first born kirin. She stuck her tongue out at her sister, before stuffing one of the treats pointedly into her mouth. Unfurling her wings from her side she purposefully smacked Azel with one. "You'll never be able to fly with those puny wings," she said smugly, before taking off a little more forcefully than necessary. Her siblings could not sour her mood for long on such a day. It wasn't like she wasn't used to it anyway. The wind whipping through her hair and feathers was blissful as she scanned the festivities below. There was so much color everywhere, and the scents and sounds were all so pleasing and exciting. She dodged another pegasus, and popped another of the treats into her mouth before her eyes landed on a familiar coat. Lexi dived down into the crowd, always the show-off. The more that horses skittered out of the way the more she enjoyed it. Despite the descent her landing was perfectly timed and gracefully, and she shook her mane out of her eyes. "Quinn!" she shouted to the appaloosa foal. Now here was someone more up her alley. The young scoundrel was much less likely to get on her nerves than her family and the other nobles. She held out the last of her sweets, offering it offhandedly to the other. "Seen anything good here yet?"

AZEL Lexi’s wingsmack and jab would have earned her a bite and maybe a torn feather, but Azel was a bit too slow, and could only watch after her as she left. Azel bit his lip angrily, his pink eyes blazing with childish rage. He’d show Lexi, and Thaio, and Cirilla, and all of them. He’d be the best out of all of them, and then they’d all be sorry for stuff like this. He had not forgotten being locked into a suitcase and missing the only interesting thing to happen at the Villa.
“She’s lying”, Azel said angrily, to no one in particular: “I will fly and I’ll be much better at it than her.” He knew that cousin Amadeus hadn’t been a particularly good flier even when he died, despite being almost an adult, but Azel was convinced that he was different. His wings just had to grow a bit more, and then he’d soar in the skies, the envy of all.
Speaking of soaring, he looked in the direction of where Ingrid had wandered off to, and followed her. From the edge of the coal pit, he could see Sola and Isador, and another kirin. Pink, just like Ingrid, but clearly an adult. Azel wondered if all kirins were pink.
With a childish lack of fear he made his way over to the pair, and looked at Isador with an almost shy smile, and then at Bonnie with pure wonder in his eyes. She looked even more beautiful up close, and Azel had to use all his self-control to not touch her beautiful locks. He wasn’t usually very polite, but the King and a kirin were something of an exception. “Is Sola having fun?” he asked with the kind of naïve innocence only a child could muster, looking at the large wyvern who was currently being admired by numerous commoners and members of the upper society alike.

321 | #3 Finally! She was standing directly in front of the massive wyvern. Quinn expected tension and anger from the legendary beast, but she was relaxed and at ease. Her long neck draped along the ground and her wings settled behind her. Quinn watched as her lungs filled and she let out a deep sigh. Smoke trailed from her nostrils. The tomboy in her wasn't scared one bit. She was curious and thought this creature was the coolest thing ever.
Before the unicorn yearling could step up and actually say a proper hello a dark shadow took out the sun. And suddenly Lexi was next to her. Quinn grinned as the pegasus landed gracefully next to her. The two had made quick friends when Quinn had run into her on one of her mischievous adventures.
"Oh hey Lexi!" Quinn eagerly took the sweet treat offered. Closing her eyes she enjoyed the savory treat. "I was just wondering where I could find something good to eat. You came just at the right time too." Quinn motioned Lexi to follow her up to the wyvern. "I'm going to say hi and see if I can touch her. She had smoke coming out of her nostrils earlier!"
It was hard for Quinn to contain her naive excitement. She wanted to look cool and nonchalant. But I mean come on, it's a wyvern for Ignacio's sake! "Everyone else shrieked. I did not though." She gave a firm look to make sure Lexi didn't think she was a baby.
Quinn then took a step up and bowed clumsily to King Isador and Sola. "Hi...um. Can I pet her? Just a small pat?" Quinn's confidence fell when it came to their King. He was an intimidating presence. I mean he was the guy in charge! So her usual boisterous self came out small and weak. She berated herself inside her mind hoping the King wouldn't just wave her away.

INGRID Ingrid tried her best to hide in the crowd, all the while drinking in all the life around her; equines of all breeds, ages, sizes and ranks interacting with one another. She was so eager to see it all, to sate all the curiosity growing up within palace and villa walls had not been able to fulfil. She would have loved to have been invisible, to just sit and watch the world go by for forever. Commoners interacted rather differently when there was no nobility around, let alone stealing a peek of the King and Bonnie when she at least thought they didn’t notice.
Her short moment was soon over, however, as Azel appeared once more and marched straight to the King. Ingrid flattened her ears, miffed. She was even more miffed at Quinn and Lexi, too. Trying to look a lot more graceful she shook it off and walked towards them, too, and nodded respectfully while holding herself in a poised manner. She smiled a very practised sunny, polite smile, and greeted: “Hello. The sun shines on you today.” Her nod was more towards the King, but her eyes did not leave Bonnie, and up close she was even more fascinated by someone alike. Bonnie’s curly hair and pink tone were beautiful, and her antlers intricate work of art. Ingrid even forgot Azel’s childish antics for a moment, so infatuated she was.

Isador King
“I wonder if it’s possible to flick one’s tail without hitting one of Lilith’s offspring,” Isador murmured in a dry undertone to Bonnibel as Azel approached, followed not long after by Ingrid. Out of the corner of an eye, he noted yet another of the brood landing close to Sola, who didn’t twitch, her only motion the last wisps of steam still trailing from her nostrils.
“It is hard to say,” Isador said gravely, in response to Azel’s question. “I think she is happiest when flying.” Sola in flight rivaled the sun itself for glory, her scales absorbing the light and every streamlined edge of her glowing in gilded magnificence. “Between you and me, however,” Isador added in a conspiratorial undertone, “I think she likes the attention. She is a touch vain, this Wyvern.”
The King’s light eyes turned to regard the new foal bowing clumsily before him, and his lips twitched, though he managed to suppress the smile that threatened. He may be King of Aodh but Isador knew better than to laugh at a child’s sincerity.
“You may- but I think she has made the choice for you,” Isador said, watching as Sola stood up fluidly, stretching her spine like a cat before unfurling her serpentine neck and leaning over Lexi and Quinn. She fixed the children with one whirling, gem-like eye and huffed a hot breath on to them. The wyvern nudged the pair of them gently, then Azel and Ingrid. She turned her faceted gaze on Isador and Bonnie, made a low, contented-sounding rumble, and then began to move languidly through the crowd, placing her massive feet delicately.
“Ah,” Isador said. Then, “I fear I am going to be reimbursing at least one baker before this is over.” Sola had developed, no doubt thanks in part to Lilith’s get, quite an affinity for sweet treats. And Isador doubted any baker would be able to deny the beast when she shoved her head into their booth. Trying to look as if he were not chasing down an enthusiastic pet, Isador followed sedately in Sola’s wake. He wasn’t worried about her hurting anyone, but the sight of her moving massively through the crowd unattended might still be a bit… unsettling, for the populace.

Hancock You've got a new horizon it's ephemeral style. A melancholy town where we never smile.
x | x Hancock rolled his eyes once more when the kids began bickering again, leaning against Joanne’s stall as he watched and waited for Azel to finish his little rant. Nodding at the kid, Hancock grinned at his small attempt at flight “That’s awesome kid; then you’ll get to wreck havoc all over the city” he winked, looking back at Joanne with a smirk.
He laughed at their next outburst, snorting before stopping himself a remembering just who their mother was. Turning back to face Joanne, Hancock was about to engage her in topics less for children's ears when suddenly he felt large feet planting themselves behind him.
Turning his head, his eyes widened for a second before he realized that the golden cat herself was standing in front of the stall, the king close behind. Hancock found himself not cocking a grin for once in his life, weary of the upper upper royal’s. Licking his lips, Hancock bowed his head, eyes still fixed on the dragon he had scoffed at earlier “Your Highness…” glancing at Joanne, he wondered what was going through the pink haired head of hers.

Joanne Got no way to prove it So maybe I'm blind But I'm only human after all
x | x Having not been accustomed to the regular fights of Lilith’s children, Joanne found herself almost awkwardly watching but also enjoying the show at the same time. She cocked a brow at Hancock, biting the inside of her cheek each time one of the kids made a comment at the other. She didn’t really feel like getting her ear chewed up by Leila and Lilith for making a kid feel bad.
Letting go of a breath she hadn’t been holding, Joanne had looked to Hancock and opened her mouth, reaching below her stand to pull out another couple of treats for him when she spotted (and heard) the full-sized wyvern that belonged to none other than the king himself approaching her stall. Joanne froze for about a half second, quickly putting on the face of a commoner and smiling as nervously as one would when faced with such a beast.
“A-ah hello, your highness,” Joanne bowed her head just as Hancock did, grin wide and eyes flicking up to the dragon “Would you and your companion, and Sola of course, like some fresh pastries? Home baked by yours truly.” Turning around for a moment, Joanne readied a basket of various samples and presented it in front of the king, only to gasp as the head of the wyvern pushed under the tent, beginning to eat her way through the basket. It made Joanne laugh, eyes wide

AZEL Another kid he didn’t know joined them, and then Ingrid. Both of them seemed a lot more polite and proper than he had been, and Azel looked at them thoughtfully for a bit before offering his own little bow, kind of as an afterthought and clearly more interested in Sola than Isador. She was so magnificent and golden and big! Azel wanted his own wyvern. Maybe he’d ask mom to get him one.
He listened with a rare seriousness as Isador spoke of the great wyvern. He could easily understand how the great fire beast might be the happiest soaring the skies, seeing how big and strong she was in flight. The conspiratorial tone made Azel’s ears perk, and he giggled slightly, looking knowingly at the wyvern, as if he had been let in on some big secret.
He did not have the time to bother the King with any more questions before Sola stood, stretched and regarded them each in turn. The nudge from the great wyvern felt funny, and he laughed with nervous glee, both a bit spooked by the sudden action from the wyvern, and delighted by it. Then Sola took off, and the King dutifully followed his companion. Azel trotted after them, having to more or less spring to catch up to them, and looked on with wide, excited eyes as Sola made her way to the pastry stand.
“Wow. She is so big, she can probably eat everything in the stand without getting ill!” Azel said, sounding a bit more excited than he perhaps should have been at the prospect of the destruction of the sweet treats. He knew well the churning of the belly when you had too much sugary treats, and he wondered how much Sola would have to eat to feel the same.
Probably like. A mountain.

Lexi | Commoner
It as hard for a child to not be awed by the wyvern's magnificence, but Lexi tried to play it off as well as Quinn. It helped that Lilith's children had been privileged enough to have met Sola before, so at least this was not a new experience for her. "Yeah, a lot of horses are scared of her. I think that's ridiculous," she said, as boldly as she could. "She's super cool." She was about to recount to Quinn (certainly not for the first time) how she and her siblings had been some of the first to pet Sola, when her friend turned to the greet the King. Lexi did not bother with such formalities. The same sense of entitlement that allowed her to simply cut in line for the sweets and the dragon made her feel that any formal greetings were unnecessary. Her mother had been a princess, and she was still a royal. Her cousin had been King. It didn't matter that Lexi was technically just a commoner; she was close enough to the royal line that she felt no need to stoop for anyone. Even the king. In such a setting as this she could get away with it, with no mother or slaves urging her to bow, and with enough other horses vying for his attention that he would not notice. Instead she took this moment to marvel openly at Sola, without worrying about putting on a cool face in front of her friend or siblings. She wanted a dragon. And not just one of those puny pygmies that Ammy had. She wanted one like Sola. The young appaloosa loved to daydream about soaring through the skies with such a magnificent creature - it's body blocking out the sun above and creating the most epic of slipstreams. She grinned, the reflection of Sola's scales bathing her coat in a golden light. When the beast leaned down and fixed her and Quinn with one large eye she didn't dare blink, staring back up at the wide-eyed reflections she could see of her and her friend. Even as cool as she was, she couldn't help but let out a laugh, a surprisingly clear and cheerful ring, as Sola bumped her head against her. She let herself be knocked backwards, her wings automatically unfurling to steady herself with one powerful down stroke. Her head turned up as the dragon carefully stepped over them, her smooth belly scales passing quickly overhead. Lexi jumped up to try and touch the last passing scalles of her tail, but it was swinging too much side to side for her to get a good shot. Undeterred she watched Sola walking away, followed not only by the King and her brother, but by a quickly growing crowd of admirers. She bumped Quinn on the shoulder, "Come on. If you're hungry I bet we can snag some snacks from the other stands." She grinned after the giant creature. "Before Sola gets them."

INGRID Ingrid’s slitted gaze moved over to Isador when he spoke, and then over to Sola. She wondered how it might be to fly – something Azel would get to do, eventually. Flying with a wyvern? Now that would have been something. A small, knowing smile quirked her lips at the conspiratorial tone – something she felt was for a young kid and that she was now old enough to tell apart. It made her feel wiser and older than it probably had any real reason to.
Ingrid’s eyes were still on Sola as the wyvern stood up, and she marveled at the way the golden creature moved. She wondered if pink wyverns had ever existed. Maybe she could get a pink pygmy dragon, even if it wasn’t nearly the same thing. She made a small, surprised sound at Sola’s nudge, and her surprise soon turned to a bright, wide smile. People staring at the wyvern made her feel more normal in the crowd, and she loved it.
Ingrid was curious about the wyvern’s intentions, and when Azel followed the King and his pet, she decided to, too. It wasn’t every day you got to see a wyvern eat quite that many sweets, and her more childish side was almost as excited as Azel. Not that she showed it too much, of course.

Q U I N N Expert Troublemaker
283 | #4 And just like that this day became the most amazing day in Quinn's life. Before she made an attempt to reach out her own muzzle, Sola reached out hers. The wyvern's face was inches from own. Her giant eyes were like jewels and there was a calm intelligence hidden behind them. A stream of warm air from the great beast's nostrils made Quinn's hairs stand on end. The usually flighty yearling didn't move an inch. And then Sola gave her a soft nudge, almost knocking Quinn off her small cloven hooves.
Next to her Lexi's wings gave a gust of cool air as she also was almost knocked over. Quinn was stunned out of her small mind. Sola had just said hi to HER. A small gangly street rat. Quinn was a Scoundrel, yet the King's pet had looked at her directly.
"Oh my gods Lexi..." She stammered under her breath. Sola also introduced herself to two others near by. A smaller pegasus and wait...was that a Kirin?! This day was something else.
Sola got up and easily towered over the equines. She stepped easily among them and was moving quickly towards a stall down the way. Well there went Quinn's brilliant plan to try every stall in the fair.
Lexi's wing bumped her out of her inner thoughts. "Oh! Yes! Let's go, let's go! She's going to eat everything!" Quinn knew they should probably find their way to another stand, one that wasn't being ransacked by a giant lizard, but she couldn't help but slightly deviate towards the legendary creature. Her scales were just mesmerizing. Plus when everyone's eyes were looking at Sola and the King, they weren't looking at their pursestrings.

Lexi | Commoner
The dark filly grinned at Quinn before taking off into the crowd. She bounded between figures, her wings catching small drafts of air every now and then. It was never enough to lift her above the crowd, but just enough to allow her hooves to skip a beat every now and then. Though she scanned the passing stalls carefully she managed to keep Sola's large figure in her peripheral vision at all times. Not that that was hard. Between her size and the fact that everyone in the vicinity seemed to gravitate towards her she was hard to miss. Lexi led them down a parallel aisle of booths to the king and his wyvern. Her roving jaws had not discovered these stalls yet, but the purveyors were all still close enough to be preoccupied with Sola's presence. The two foals would easily go unnoticed at current, and now that she was in the presence of a scoundrel friend this pleased the thieving side of her brain. She slowed now, as she noted Sola beginning to explore a booth - Joanne's, in fact. Good thing I got some of those sweets before she got there. "So, what'cha hungry for?" she questioned. "Looks like we've got... some candied fruits there. Some cheeses. Pastries." She rattled off the list, scanning the vendors. "And it looks like it's all free for the taking," she whispered, leaning in conspiratorially. "We could be set for weeks with all this food!"

Bonnibel Commoner | Resurrected Kirin
In the time she'd spent among them, Bonnibel had come to realize that these horses - these Aodhians, she chastised herself, they were due the title as much as she - enjoyed celebrations. So much so that they seemed to celebrate for nothing more than the simple pleasure of having a jamboree. Bonnie didn't criticize them for it. There was something charming about their whimsy, and she easily found herself swept up in the excitement, nearly able to forget that she'd become an outsider looking in.
She'd been scrutinizing what looked like, to her, a poorly conceived stunt between a hippocampus and a ring of fire when Isador asked his question. Bonnie turned to regard him with warm eyes and a tight little grin, trying desperately not to laugh.
"I am. The mood is infectious, isn't it?" She said, and alas, a chuckle slipped out. "Look at them - jumping through fire! Is that a common game?"
Isador had smiled at that, and her knees had gone weak, her head swimming - just a bit dizzy, a little warm.
(She'd only had a light breakfast, you see, and it made a girl feel faint at times, so terribly faint.)
The King said something else, and to her credit Bonnie's reaction was only marginally delayed. "Hm, what? Oh! Yes, her Eminence is certainly..." Bonnie paused, searching for the word that would be deemed most polite. "Prolific."
The kirin turned her attention to the approaching children, both marked with their mother's spots. She recognized the youngest as Azel, a child she'd often seen trailing behind and sometimes beneath his mother's legs. He was cute, more so than most children, and Bonnie supposed it had a lot to do with the soft, pink feathers covering his throat.
And then of course there was Ingrid. Ingrid, who for so long had been the only other trueborn kirin in the city. She'd never had a chance to speak with the girl at length, and truthfully, Bonnie was still struggling to understand how a small filly had grown into an adult over the course of a day. Something about a potion, Breim, magic... it was over her head, really, so she tried not to dwell on it too much. Regardless, she had fostered a one-sided connection with the girl, a closeness afforded by their rare status in a world that had nearly forgotten them. Bonnie attempted to eye her discreetly, unaware that the mare was doing much the same.
Azel was the first to reach them, and for his gaze Bonnibel returned a polite smile that quickly gave way to a genuine grin as he spoke. It reminded her of the young hoplite recruits and their wide-eyed wonder, how they'd fawned over Opal as she'd -
Something twisted painfully in Bonnie's chest, and she reasoned that she'd had quite enough of that memory. And anyway, Ingrid was speaking.
"The sun shines on you today, Eminent Ingrid." She echoed. Class had not been so terribly important in her society but it meant everything to these Aodhians, and so Bonnie was careful to accommodate. The Emins could be... touchy, Isador said, and Bonnie certainly didn't want to offend the other kirin before she'd had a chance to make a good impression.
Sola's antics drew the crowd's attention, and certainly hers, too. Bonnie's nose crinkled with delight. "Oh dear." She chuckled, easily moving into step with the King as he ambled behind his wyvern, a slow pace that her shorter legs were grateful for. "I think you will be paying for much more than a single stall, your Grace. That twinkle in her eye is mischievous."
Lilith's children followed, much to her delight. "You've a pink entourage, your Grace. How fortunate that it's your color."

Isador King and beleaguered zoo keeper
“Yes,” Isador deadpanned to Joanne, even as the wyvern knocked the empty basket off the table, “yes, Sola would like some pastries.”
Isador suppressed a wince as Sola gave a huff and tore the basket delicately (but completely) apart with a talon, assuring herself that she had indeed gotten every crumb. Isador didn’t have any money on him, of course; even before he was King he had long surpassed the need to carry shards on his person. But even as Sola craned her neck further into the booth, gently nudging both Joanne and Hancock with her bulk as she looked around, chirping inquisitively, Diederich had stepped to Isador’s side and offered up a pouch.
“Redeem this at the Palace,” Isador said to Joanne, offering her a metal chit emblazoned on one side with the Aodhian seal, and the other with Isador’s own likeness. “Full compensation for your wares, and-” a clatter made Isador glance to the side, eyeing the tray Sola had spilled, “and any ah, damages.” Out of the corner of his eye he could see Bonnibel utterly failing to suppress a grin as she watched Sola spend the crown’s money, one glazed confection at a time. He watched helplessly for a moment, then looked around at his entourage again. Azel was watching with great interest, and even reserved Ingrid was watching closely.
“You all might as well sample something, before Sola gets it all,” Isador told his group, gesturing at the remaining baked goods for sale. “If I am to pay for this entire tent, we might as well get a taste ourselves.” He stepped closer, enjoying the radiating warmth coming from Sola’s body. “Do you have anything with cinnamon, or raisins perhaps?” he asked Joanne, voice slightly raised to be heard clearly over the sounds of his wvyern’s demolition.
The King tilted his head, looking back at the others, eyes snagging as they always did on Bonnie’s delicate, graceful form. “Any preferences? Time is of the essence.” On cue, Sola knocked over another basket, which landed on her head and rained down sweet rolls. She rumbled in delight, lifting her head in a cascade of treats and looking around, including Hancock in the shower of rolls.

Hancock You've got a new horizon it's ephemeral style. A melancholy town where we never smile.
x | x Hancock wasn’t one to linger around the more, crass nobility and glanced at Joanne, sending her a wink and a grin. Good luck dealing with this lot. Hancock turned to walk away, his glancing over Bonnibel and Isador. Setting his remaining treats down, Hancock smiled pleasantly “The sugar cookies are always good, sweet and soft. I'm sure you’ll enjoy them” if one listened hard enough they could hear the snark in Hancock’s words, but the blonde stallion merely turned away and headed down the alley of tenets. Twirling a cigarette in his teke, he placed it upon his lips before striking a match and lighting it, continuing forward.
What a day, he thought. Dragos, a gaggle of kids and even the damn king himself. He wondered what Lilith herself was doing, probably having a wine tasting event with some of her friends and lovers, among other things. Though Hancock had surely enjoyed Joanne’s treats, he found himself hungry for something with more spice and began his new search. He wondered if Adler was going to make an appearance here or if she too was hosting some other event to promote the Pearl.
Smoke trailing behind him, Hancock lost himself in thought as he wandered.

Joanne Got no way to prove it So maybe I'm blind But I'm only human after all
x | x With another new crowd growing around her booth, Joanne grinned and placed new platters of treats along the two tables, on the far end of where Sola was currently working through a basket of assorted treats. She couldn’t help but laugh at the Kings words “Must be like having a small herd of children all with a sweet tooth” she joked, eyes lingering on the wyvern. Her scales felt strange as she bumped into Joanne and Hancock, the pink haired mare watching as the stallion slyly made his exit. Joanne couldn’t help but reach out her teke and place it against the creatures neck, surprised by the warmth and feel.
Head-turning back to the King, Joanne reached out just as he handed her the chit, her eyes widening. Looking to him, Joanne bowed her head and smiled sheepishly “Ah, thank you, your highness, but I can assure that it is quite alright! I came to this lovely festival in hopes of sharing sweetness and the name of my shop,” Joanne laughed “I think people will be flocking to my door when they see the king’s own wyvern enjoying my treats” She bowed her head once more “But again, I thank you”
Flicking her ears at the king's request, Joanne grinned and turned around, looking at the tables that hadn’t yet been touched by the wyvern. Retrieving a plate of Crunchy raisin cinnamon buns, Joanne presented it in front of the king and his crowd of Kirins and children.
