A. Laurens
With all the chaos of escape, Laurens barely remembered the location of the ruins, but the tear given to her by the goddess Cascade lead her there. It certainly wasn’t home, but it was safe and hidden from the flight. Everyday Laurens prayed Nagisa was safe and well, and prayed that she’d be able reunite with them soon. For now, though, Laurens only hoped she was bringing up Thaddeus the way Nagisa would have wanted. He was a spirited colt, as most are, but he had the same dignified aura as his mom- or maybe Laurens needed to see that so the pain of missing Nagisa could be less. Regardless, days were brighter with Thadeus around. Well, maybe not this day... There was a slight rain falling through the leaves into what was left of the ruin’s roof. Others wandered deeper into the temple to stay dry, but Laurens was drawn to the statue of Cascade... as always. She felt a sick energy from the statue, one that lingered deep in her stomach, protect it said. She nodded and tore herself from the statue. Among the others, Laurens easily spotted Sinclair, her white coat always apparent. She walked up to the mare. They’d met many times before, they were probably friends by now, but Laurens was never sure of things like that. Confidence, though, came much easier to her now. Maybe it was Thaddeus, maybe it was Cascade, but Laurens felt a new sureness she lacked her whole life. Still, she didn’t always draw attention.
“Sinclair?” She asked, rather quietly,”Sinclair, I can’t explain it, but I have this sick feeling, will you help me gather the children? With everything going on, I think it’s best we keep them together...
and safe.”

SINCLAIR CASIMIR SERVANT For a moment, Sinclair allowed herself brief respite. Her pale blue eyes watched the children play; she focused on ensuring they remained safe from the rough-housing they so often engaged in. After all, the only thing she had else to do was enlighten herself to the crushing reality that had seized Inaria. The reality that if her brother was safe, and that was a big if, considering the Flight had proven to be variable in the short time she had known of them, but also that her friends (Zenith most especially) were also safe. Watching the children provided her distraction and she took it with practiced ease. It was not until she heard the soft, jungle-padded, hoof-steps of Laurens that she allowed herself to take her eyes from those few in play. “Laurens,” she greeted softly in response to the mare’s quiet tone. She dipped her head politely before reserving herself to listen to the mare’s words. “I’m a firm believer in instinct. It is what brought us here after all, no?” She said in response, eyebrows knit in fairly disguised worry. “Let me call them over, we can coerce them with stories perhaps.” She cast a glance at those who had arrived. She did not discriminate from them, as far as she was concerned, they were fleeing the war just the same as she… even the kirin amongst them. “Belle, dear,” She called, “Adeline, Seven, Thaddeus.” She motioned those she knew the name of over with bob of her head.

The past.. well, lifetime had been stressful for the small Kirin. He appeared in the middle of no where, had a weapon pointed in his direction as he was marched back to a prison, was dropped off on his own, and now? He was once again in the middle of no where, surrounded by those he did not know. While he was frightened, he tried his best not to show it. Showing fear is what threw him in this predicament to begin with, so he faked a brave face.
However, his brave face did not last very long. It wasnt long before the other children were playing within the temple, and he was not. He found himself a corner in the room and settled in it, spiked tail wrapped around his small scaled body, and large eyes focused forward so he knew if anyone would come near him. His whiskers flicked over his front hooves, feeling the stone beneath his form. He knew he was not welcome here, but he did not know why. The Talorians always gave him sideways glances. He didn't understand what they meant, but he knew they made him uncomfortable. He was a pegasus, he swore it! His wings were just taking a little longer to grow in than usual. Perhaps his bright green scales would fall off one day to reveal large, feathered wings.
A small sigh left his lips as he dreamed of such a day, but it didnt last long. A voice called over the temple, calling named Gaelan did not recognize. Dropping his head back down to his hooves, he kept to his corner. His name was not called, so why should he answer?

Diana || Savior
Diana had not been expecting this when she had heeded the call to come to home of the Talori home. She hadn't even had much time before her and fellow Saviors were led to a ship with supplies and other Serorans already aboard- only to be thrown into a world of bloodshed and chaos. She had not known what to expect. Of course. It's not everyday you get thrown into a land of a herd you had no knowledge of. The only comfort in this chaos was the necklace with her brother's feathers on her breast and the familiar milling of her fellow Saviors. Among the other horrible things she had seen- she also had to deliver news of the chaos within the city- Torrine if she remembered right. If anything- she hated this tense silence. Of course it wasn't quite per say, the foals around her were playing in ignorant bliss. It was the tense silence of the forest outside, so still and buzzing with the uncertain energy of trepidation. Something she was familiar with in her line of work. She had changed over the last few months- with the death of her brother, and her mother shortly after, and being thrown headlong first into a war- Diana's personality took a dive off the deep end. Becoming quite and bitter, her once serene calm had turned into stony silence and begrudging loneliness. And as a cherry on top of this chaotic sundae, her beloved Maxi was in Serora, doing who knows what.
But none of that would stop her from protecting the littles she was assigned to protect. She had been strolling around the border of the Temple- keeping in mind to stay with in sight. So when she heard the names of the foals being called, she took it as a signal to come back. As she strolled back into the main area, her eyes scanned to see if there was any stragglers, and was unamused to see the small kirin foal curled up in a corner looking absolutely miserable. Sucking in her bad mood and storming thoughts, Diana walked over and leaned her head down and put on the most comforting face she could muster. "Little one, why are you here all by yourself?"

Belle hadn't the heart to play right now, but it wasn’t a foul mood that kept her from approaching the other children. She loved having fun just as much as any other foal, and were any of her friends from her old home here, perhaps things might have been different.
The problem was… they weren’t. And neither were any of the new friends she’d managed to make ever since she and her brother had come to stay at the temple. Nimhue was off doing something… something very important. Ali and Dawson were on a mission, too, a possibly dangerous one, but other equines needed their help and Belle understood that they were doing something brave, and good, even if the thought of their being in danger made her stomach churn. Krein was gone, too; having left with Dawson and Ali, and the others who’d been sent back to Torrine. Belle missed and worried for each of them—even the grumpy kirin who had appointed himself as a mentor for her arts. She had been praying to Cascade ever since this morning that they would all come back home safe and sound.
She ignored the nagging thought that those prayers had yet to work for her mother.
For now, with no familiar face in sight and very little courage in the face of social interaction, Belle had made herself comfortable in a spot she had grown accustomed to over the long months, painting the little wooden idol of Cascade that Krein had made for her-- "only to show you how it's done, tiny fish-horse," he'd said-- with a set of home-made dyes that she'd mixed together with Nimhue. She liked the activity for more than one reason. It prevented her from worrying too much, and kept her focused on the loving goddess she must remember to have faith in.
If anyone was going to bring everyone safely home, it would be Cascade. Well… Ignacio would take care of Krein, too, at least. If he truly was as kind as Krein insisted. Belle had yet to fully believe all that, but…
“Belle, dear. Adeline, Seven, Thaddeus.”
At the sound of her name, the filly looked up to find Sinclair beckoning her and the other children. It seemed as though they were all being called, although what for she wasn’t sure.
Tucking her art project into a safe corner, Belle made as though to move forward, but stopped when she noticed the kirin foal sulking at the other end of the room. The Seroran horses had brought him with them, but he had been rather quiet since then. Not unlike Krein, who’d acted almost afraid of everyone here when he’d first, well… exploded on the beach.
The kirin wasn’t getting up. Maybe he hadn’t heard Sinclair from before?
“Um…” Belle started quietly, before approaching him and starting over a little more loudly. “Hi. The… the grown-ups are calling us over, I think. Are you coming?”

TALORI | TENDERFOOT
Thadeus kicked at another foal trying to get him to play.
He had no experience in making friends. In fact, he had little experience in anything. Prior to Laurens and his hasty escape into the jungle, the boy had been confined within a hundred yard of the sad cabin his small family had been assigned to in Torrine. It was a prison within a prison. He hated that boring place and longed to leave it more than anything. Cascade must had been listening to him, because he got his wish eventually, but as fussy children are, Thadeus was ungrateful.
The Temple Ruins that Laurens and Councilor Ciardha had taken him to, turned out to have it's own atrocities. At least in the cabin he felt like he had a place of his own. Here, he was forced to live among strangers. His new housemates shared everything among themselves, food, water, blankets, toys, whatever it was, the resource was divided. Thadeus had a hard time adjusting to that. He never had to share anything before. He told Laurens he didn't like it.
But sharing was just one issue upon a mountain of others. The temple was an entirely different world to the young colt and it was filled with so many new things that he wasn't accustomed to. He wanted so much to learn but fear, suspicion, and inexperience held him back. Thadeus was frustrated with his own short comings and wary of the strangers that surrounded him, so instead of learning, he spent most of his time brooding somewhere close to Laurens.
When Thadeus heard his name called he found his caretaker and did just that. Occasionally he'd steal a glance at the weird scaled colt and the sand mare who vaguely looked like his mom. He hoped he see her again. He'd never forgive her for sending him away if he didn't.

His eyes had been slowly closing as he made the choice to stay in his corner, his breath slowing. He had been tired since he got here, his nerves not allowing him real sleep. No matter how much his eyes burned, though, the rest of him never complied. It was then that he heard footsteps approaching and his eyes sprung open, his head shooting up, and tail wrapping tighter around his tiny body. A pale mare approached him, dipping her head down to match his own. He found himself shrinking into himself, oversized ears pressed back against his neck. The adults were always in his space; what did they want with him??
"Little one, why are you here all by yourself?" Her voice caused him to pull himself to his hooves. He opened his mouth to answer, but he didn't know how to. Instead, he closed it again and pressed back, uncertainty in his eyes. He wanted to cry, he really did, but that would show that he was week. His muzzle twitched as he ducked his head, attempting to dodge the adult, but a softer voice called out to him.
His large hazel eyes focused the best the could on a light colored filly making her way toward them. His whiskers flicked as he tried to make out the most of her form, his gaze focusing on the blue mass that surrounded her sides. The smelt of salt and water.. fins? His brow furrowed momentarily, but she pulled him out of his thoughts with a question.
Looking between the filly and the mare a few times, the little kirin scurried out from his place against the wall and fell in step beside the filly. He glanced at her nervously without a word, but felt better being with someone closer to his age. At least, he hadnt been given a reason to mistrust the other foals yet.

The Savior was incredibly displeased, having roamed the edges of the Temple, an opposite pattern to what Diana was doing, in attempts to clear her head of all the thoughts that were clouding it right now. Ra hadn’t ever seen this coming, not thinking that she would be boarded upon a ship and set to sail across the seas to a nation that wasn’t even theirs; Rowin had been shoved onto the ship as well, with a hand full of other warriors, and to ease some of her pain, it was nice to know that her lover wasn’t too far from her. Even if there was this harsh clawing in the back of her mind that screamed “Rowin will end up doing something stupid and not make it back to me.”
A long and tired sigh had fallen from her lips as she tried to remind herself of what was more important right now. There was a small group of children that needed their care and attention, and by Ignacio, Ra wasn’t going to let any harm fall upon them- she’d die or get seriously injured before she would allow that. A chuckle slips past her lips, wouldn’t that be something? A Savior dying and a Fury making it home- she would rather have it that way than the man she loved not coming back to her.
It’s the calling of the children’s names that pulls her from her thoughts, and she takes it as her cue to make it back to them- certainly nothing could be going on back at camp, or so she prayed.
Ra watched through half-lidded eyes that have become sunken in with tiredness as the children run amuck, eyes lingering a little longer on the small Kirin that Diana has taken it upon herself to go and speak to. The Savior with the Fire Lord tattooed onto her leg stays back for now, deciding not to overwhelm the child; but she twists her leg in a way for him to be aware of what he various shades of blue are on her leg. She prayed that he would take it as a sign that she was a friend and not someone to be afraid of.
“One. Two. Three. Four. Five.” She does a quite count off from where she is standing- making a note that all children are present for.

Diana || Savior Diana was grateful for the small hippocampus's intervention, she was beyond tired and up to her neck in worry and her patience was down to a thin wire. So close to snapping. It surprised her, but Diana had taken praying to her patron gods with vigor. Even throwing a word to the Wave Mother... 'Respect those who give you refuge' Her mother had always said. As she walked behind the small kirin and guppy, she couldn't help but smile fondly. They may be old enough to understand what was happening outside the Temple's grounds, but she was happy they could still run and play without a care in the world. Diana herself had taken up to going through the defense training she had learned as a fledgling. Even now she minutely swung her legs back while walking, or swung her neck to keep the muscles warm and free of cramps. She couldn't help but feel comforted by the soft tinkling of the copper bells that swung from her necklace, their ambient sound flowing through the stagnant air as it tried to shoo away the tense silence. It reminded her of home, of the shifting sands and the playful wind that seemed to always whisper for her to come and play. She had done it often, closed up shop early and merely ran, hard and fast through the rocks and creeks she had imagined great adventures.
Shaking her head once more, the bells whispering their quite voice as she went. Looking at the foals, Diana noticed one of the younglings seemed to glance at her every so often, he seemed almost forlorn in his gaze. Sending the colt a soft smile, Diana weaved her way around the foals and trotted to where the foals gathered. She also sent a respectful nod and smile to all the adults of the rag-tag group. She looked them over, A roan guppy, -Hippocampus is to long, so guppy it is- A fleabitten palomino with a mark of fire on his shoulder, a young quite draft mare, a peachy palomino guppy with the most beautiful azure eyes, and of course the little lizard that had jade scales speckling his sides- And they looked tired, forlorn, or just scared in some way. She's an empath- she knows these things. (Also considering the fact that she grew up with four younger siblings who were as stubborn as the earth.)
Looking at the young faces made Diana's already broken heart crack further. Coming up with an idea, Diana's face lit up with a hopeful smirk. Twitching her withers harshly, the bells on her breast sang out a sharp and high note. Diana shook head slightly and smiled at the group. "Well.. since we are all going to be here together for a time, we might want to take advantage of the time and introduce ourselves to each other. I'll go first- My name is Diana, I'm from Serora and-" She paused, a small smirk lit up on her lips, "Well since I'm a medicine horse I have some funny stories, hope you don't mind me sharing one, but it does show how my annoying my life can be. One time when I was a out with Ra- she got so drunk I had to drag her home! She was singing the most off key songs you could think of-" She shot Ra a devious look, "Threw up more than once. What I learned from this is- always be close to help, but not close enough to get thrown up on."

Seven | Tenderfoot
Raindrops pattered softly through the cracks in the ancient temple roof, the normally sunny front room of the ruins now softly muted from the overcast sky. Seven was enjoying the peacefulness of the rain. The adults had tried to whisper around the foals, but they all knew what was happening. The citizens of Aquore were rising up. They were attempting to take back their home, and this brought a surge of joy to the young colt's heart. He knew Cascade would be with them. She would protect them and return the land to her children. He smiled at her statue behind him, then bounced forward just in time for a raindrop to fall on his velvety muzzle. Blue eye twinkled at the time-made skylights, watching closely for the next drop of water. Sometimes the game was to get wet; sometimes, usually in heavier rain, it was to try and run under while staying dry. A simple game, but one he could enjoy with or without company.
And in his current company that was a good thing. His emotional withdrawal at the beginning of the six months they had lived here had kept him from making many friends, and this particular group of foals he now found himself surrounded by definitely seemed wrapped up in their own worries. But that was ok. He was more than used to playing alone. However he did catch sight of Thadeus, the younger colt seeming to want to play with someone. He smiled, and was just about to walk over when a familiar voice called his name.
Now there was someone he had befriended - Sinclair. Well, he thought of her as sort of a mom, anyway. She and Laurens, whose neutral coat blended in with the overcast ruin walls, had been here the whole time. They were bonded by the tears of Cascade that they wore around their necks. They had been among the first to find the temple, and he had been with the two mares when he had escaped the... the... he tried not to think the word "explosions." The chaotic images came back too easily.
"Yes?" he asked, quick to respond to their summons. But if the Seroran's reply was anything to go by, it must be story time. Seven looked up at Diana, listening quietly as she spoke. His mother would never have talked about drunkeness, particularly not public drunkeness and vomiting, and he couldn't help but giggle. "Eww," he laughed. "I threw up once after eating some kelp on the beach, but it was just onto the sand."
"My name is Seven, but I'm nine!" Having had a birthday while here at the ruins he had felt it necessary to begin introducing himself this way to any strangers that might appear at the temple.

Belle wasn’t the only one to reach out to the kirin, it seemed. Another grown-up had come to check up on him, asking why he was all alone. Her voice was gentle and her smile warm. Belle decided that she liked her a lot, already.
She was a bit surprised when the kirin got up without any reply, instead content to walk with Belle after casting a nervous—although slightly more reassured—glance at her. He didn’t speak to the Seroran mare, but thankfully that didn’t seem to bother the grown-up too much. She was now walking behind the two of them, the bells on her neck jingling pleasantly.
Normally Belle was the one clinging to others’ sides and trying to avoid talking, so she wasn’t sure what to make of having that role reversed (even if she didn’t quite know how to put that bewilderment in words) or why the other foal had chosen to walk with her. She certainly wasn’t as brave or strong as the jingle-lady who’d come to fetch them, but if her company made him feel better, she’d do her best to… well… maybe someday she’d be big and strong, too, but as of now she wasn’t good for much more than simply being very nice. The filly gave her new companion a kind smile before trotting over to the growing group just ahead.
That was when the mare from before pulled everyone’s attention with a spirited shake of her bells.
"Well.. since we are all going to be here together for a time, we might want to take advantage of the time and introduce ourselves to each other. I'll go first- My name is Diana, I'm from Serora and-"
The jingle-lady—right!! Diana—went on to tell a very gross, but also kind-of-funny story about herself and her friend, Ra, the black mare with blue eyes. Belle couldn’t help giggling just a little.
“H-hi, Diana. I’m Belle. I have a big brother named Dawson, but he’s out with the others right now. And, um, I like your bells. N-not because it’s like my name! I just think they sound pretty…”
… Had she really said that much in front of so many people? She’d forgotten there was a whole crowd here. Whoops.
The hippocampus moved one forehoof behind the other and averted her gaze, timidity taking over once again.

For Adeline, she couldn't smile. It was hard being one of the older children here- Granted she didn't exactly act mature but... She hadn't heard from her friend for a very long time. It unnerved her and put her on edge... And then her recently found friend? One she found solace and comfort in...? Also gone. Her newly adopted father too? Gone. Her previous father? Missing. Dead. It was an unbridled amount of stress and fear she had felt, something that she had never experienced before that made her stomach hurt and queasy.
She had sat by the entrance of the temple for most of the hours, watching for a sign of someone familiar to return. Adeline desperately needed reassurance from her dear ones...
Even when the Serorans and the Kirin foal appeared, she sunk back into the shadows until they had met the main of the group. She stared hard, the Kirin was strange looking, nothing like she'd seen before- Though he was covered in scales as she was in feathers. Adeline's lips cracked into a small smile. Huh. Strange.
Though her smile quickly faded as her eyes returned to the entrance. The sun was bright, rays lighting up the stone of the temple entrance.... She sighed heavily. Please come back.

Ra's eyes quickly flick over towards Diana, her lips twisted down into a frown as her eyebrows shoot down into this deep furrow- she had half the mind to tell her "Not in front of the children." After all, what kind of impression does that make on the Talori adults that are in the group? They must think they are two certified idiots from Serora instead of medically trained Saviors, Ra thinks.
But then Ra hears the children's reaction to Diana's story and her expression softens a bit as she glances at the two children who have just spoken up. She grins widely at Seven, who corrects himself by stating that he's actually nine and that his name is Seven, he didn't seem to grossed out by Diana's choice of a story so she felt her muscles relax as he went on about himself having thrown up once. Ra's smile turns even more wicked when he finishes his own tale, a soft chuckle escaping from her lips she turns to the one who introduced herself as Belle. The young Hippocampus filly almost had the same reaction as Seven; both children seemed to wholeheartedly think that Diana's story was particularly funny- something that Ra didn't quite agree with.
"Hm, the things I could tell them about you Diana," Ra speaks up, her long braid wiping around her neck as she tosses her head back, eyes half-lidded in a devious manner as she racks her brain for something her fellow companion could have done, "I certainly can remember a few times that you have thrown up, oh-so-great friend of mind," She chuckles, enjoys this light air around them- the children didn't need to focus on what was going on outside the temple now... And frankly, neither did Ra. She mentally smacks herself when she feels her mind wondering off once again.
Ra opens her mouth to continue her words, but notices one of the older children isn't part of the group so she takes it upon herself to march over and confront the teenaged child about why she wasn't joining them, "Is everything alright, dear?" She questioned, trying to sound as calm and collected as she could, taking a place next to the mare's form as she waited for a response. Adeline, is what Ra believed the two Talorians had called her if she was thinking correctly.
An embarrassing story about Diana would have to wait now as she stood firmly next to the teenager, hoping that the closeness of another would make her feel more welcomed and safe in these ruins.

Diana || Savior
When Diana finished her story she watched the younglings giggle with a smile on her lips. She would do most anything to help the dark reality of the outside fade away, even just for a little while. Diana's muzzle pointed towards the flea bitten palomino -Seven she now knew- as he told of puking after eating kelp on the beach. Her eyes widened before a single barked laugh rose from the depths of her throat. She grinned before saying, "Well yes Seven, its not really a good idea to eat things that haven't been prepared. Trust me, I've seen the outrageous after effects of someone who did just that. Poor mare ran head first into a stone wall." She cleared her throat as she turned to the small peachy palomino -Belle, with her cute doe eyes. Belle told of her brother and name, suprising Diana as she complimented the bells that rested softly from her neck. She bowed her head slightly in thanks, "Thank you Belle," A sudden idea floated through Diana's mind. Moving towards Belle slightly, Diana unwound one of the bells tied to her necklace- a fifth one hidden within her mane- and offered it to the small filly. The bell clinked slightly as Diana's soft red teke floated the bell to... Belle. Diana smiled slightly before speaking softly, "Well my dear, since I wear your name sake, why not wear one? If you wish I could fashion a small thread to add to your necklace. And when Dawson comes to pick you up you can tell him all about it."
The soft moment was broken when Ra spoke up about Diana's own slip ups. Diana's head shot up in a flash and a squeal of indignation squeezed itself from Diana's throat, her neck swinging to send a fierce glare at her fellow Savior. 'Oh I know where you sleep tonight.' She thought vengefully. Her annoyance faded swiftly as a concerned frown took root as she watched Ra move off towards the eldest foal. Shaking her head, she shifted back towards the group, first to the adults. "Well I know some of the children, what about you?" She kept her voice light and bubbly, attempting to make a nonchalant atmosphere. Perking up and shifting back towards the children she smiled wide. "I know we all are kinda bored, so why not once we're all done introducing ourselves to each other I teach you all some interesting dance moves I've picked up from my father? He's a kooky old stallion you know, went off to Breim and made me and my mother worried sick. Came back four months with gems in toe and a stupid grin on his face... Never knew my mother could be so terrifying." She shivered at the memory. Slipping back into silence, she waited for the conversation to continue.

TALORI | TENDERFOOT
Thadeus rolled his eyes so hard you'd think he'd be able to see his own brain. He was quickly finding out how much he despised small talk. The words spouting out from the foreign mares' mouths were useless and empty in light of what was happening outside. His mother was out there with the guardians and he was stuck here in hiding with people who seemed like they were pretending nothing was happening. Not to mention it was still unclear to him why the sand mares were here in the first place and why they brought the weird looking colt.
Thadeus huffed. He wanted to be where the action was. He wanted to help, not just sit around or learn a stupid dance.
"How much longer are we going to be here?" The colt rudely dismissed Diana's story. He had questions and he was itching for answers. He coudn't take anymore of these pointless conversations.
He turned specifically in the direction of the Serorans. "Aren't you Alya's people? Why are you helping us?" Nagisa had trained him to be suspicious of anyone under that god's influence.
"And why did you bring him here?" Thadeus spun around to Gaelan. "What is he? I don't think hippocampi are supposed to have horns like that. Is he some kind of creature from the desert? Is he like a secret weapon? Is he going to help take my home back?"

The colt stayed close to Belle’s side, his gaze cast down at his cloven hooves. His large ears flicked as each horse spoke, some introducing themselves, some telling stories. A couple of the other children laughed, but he didn't find them very funny. Head tipped to the side and confusion evident on his features, he stared at the storytellers with a furrowed brow. He wanted desperately to introduce himself, but he still struggled with his words. He had not been part of this world for long, and everything was still terribly overwhelming.
His attention shifted as another colt spoke up, this one with a dark coat and fins sprouting from his back. Gaelan didn't like his tone, and when the colt suddenly spun to face him, he found himself stumbling back. Ears laid back as the colt went off, asking what he was and what he was doing there. How was he supposed to know! He didn't even want to be here in the first place!
Puffing out his chest and flicking his spiked tail behind him in defense, he took back the steps he had fallen back before. He couldnt live in fear forever.
“Gaelan.” He spoke, his voice almost a barking shout, a growl in his throat. “I am not a weapon.” He paused, looking around the room. He remembered what the others had called him. A kirin. But that was wrong.
Struggling to find his words, the colt took in a deep breath and closed his eyes. He had been practicing his blessing in hiding, but perhaps now he could show them what he could not explain. Brow knitting together, he focused on the energy running through his body. In a flash, the illusion of small wings sprouted from his withers. They only lasted but a few seconds, but he opened his eyes just in time to see the blurry form of the feathers from the corner of his eye. A large smile spread across his lips, longing for them to last longer, but his blessing was not strong enough yet. He would have to keep working at it.
Turning back to the others, his gaze aggressively pointed at Thadeus. “Pegasus.” He said proudly, his head held high.

Diana || Savior
Diana's head reared at the young colt's words. She felt her anger turn and thrash underneath her breast. She took a deep breath through her nose, before letting it out in a great sigh, vainly reining in the exhausted rage she had forgotten for a short time. Her eyes turned harsh and her voice grew cold and hard as stone. She arched her neck down with a practiced cold elegance- so rarely seen under her placid nature- and replied to his first question, "I do not know how much longer we will be here, all I know is that it is our duty to keep you safe." 'As much as I wish it wasn't' Diana didn't add the last part, she knew she had to protect the younglings, but more than anything she wanted to help those wounded in battle, it's what her training was for. Shaking her head she again answered the colt's questions, no discernible emotion in her tone, "Yes, I am one of Alya's children, I was raised under her tutelage and brought up within her laws. Why do I help? Because I want to see Talori take back their home."
Diana perked and turned as the kirin -Gaelan she now knew- as he defended himself from the other colt. And her crimson eyes widened at the flash of feathers that momentarily covered his withers. 'Illusionist...' She balked for a few more seconds before smiling slightly. The smile fell quickly before she whipped her head back around, a harsh glare on her features. "And- Thadeus is it? I will not tolerate such inconsiderate behavior or such unchecked words. We are here to survive and I do not need some flying words to tear apart what little peace we can scrape by with. If you wish to see your home again then you will cooperate with us and check your words before they come spilling out of your mouth." She sighed, the glare fading only to be replaced with an exhausted resignation filling her soft orbs. "Thadeus, I know we are all a long away from home, but please. You must work with us. You're family is counting on us to protect you and return you safely to them when all of this is over. I do not know how long we will be here, or when all of this will be over, but-" She moved forward slightly, a timid smile on her lips and a bow of her neck brought her eyes to his level, "We all will make it home, all of us."
With that she turned away and walked over to Gaelan. With a smile she spoke, "And you-" She brought her muzzle down on the crown of the colt's head, nuzzling him with all the affection a mother would give, "-Are the most adorable pegasus there is." She offered him one more soft smile, before walking to the adults. She rose her neck up a bit, using a quick flick of her teke to put her necklace back in its place. "Do you think it's a good time to move further within the Temple? We are to exposed out here, a little to easy for kids to slip by as well.." She shifted on her feet, feeling the stress seep into her bones.

SINCLAIR CASIMIR SERVANT “If we are introducing ourselves, I am Sinclair, but a servant. I’m certainly not one for strong drinks, though the same could not be said for some of my acquaintances,” Sinclair responded good-naturedly whilst the conversation experienced a brief lull. “Nor could I say I am especially interesting.” She allowed herself to stop there. There was no need to waste her breath. She watched the interactions between the Serorans and the other foals, at the same time her gaze snapped to Thadeus. “You mustn’t blame him for the sharpness of his tongue,” Sinclair interjected eventually. Her voice never raised, but there was a hardness to her eyes. “Just like you he is newer to the Temple than others and was brought here under different circumstances.” She continued onwards, “And you must understand his upbringing. His prejudice will show he is a child who has lived in a society that worships these ideas and behaviors.” Sinclair dipped her head, expressing quite clearly that she did not wish to fight, merely to make the other mare understand. “You must counter hatred with love, harsh words and glaring will do nothing to aide the situation.”As such the pale mare moved forward and again called out to the Talori children, only this time adding those she had not known to the list. “Thadeus, Seven, Adeline,” Her eyebrows knit in worry for the eldest of the children. “Belle, Gaelan, dears, lets listen to her, hm?” She began to turn, nodding with her head towards the Serorans. “Let’s go back within the Temple like Diana has suggested. Perhaps there are new knick-knacks to be found. Some memorabilia to take home and tell the others about?”

Seven | Tenderfoot
Seven listened to Ra and Diana's stories happily. While the colt would have been bored by small talk in his previous life in Inaria, it was one of the ways in which he had grown since arriving at the temple. Stories were often the only form of entertainment, and he learned much. The Seroran's speech was so different and they did not seem restricted in what they said, much different from the stiff words of the Talorian elite at home, and the stilted, worried tones of the adults here in the temple. It was a nice change of pace, and he longed to ask questions about their sandy, hot home and what else they knew of Breim, but Thadeus' sharp, young voice cut through the conversation and drew everyone's gaze.
Seven looked on the interaction in the way that all children do when another child is acting out and is sure to get in trouble: wide-eyed and sure to stay quiet so as not to get sucked into any reprimands. He could not believe Thadeus' rudeness, and watched wide-eyed as he pulled even the young kirin into it. At this Seven bristled a little, instinctively protective of someone who had done nothing wrong. He wanted to say that he was a kirin, just like Krein! That they used to live in Hireath, and Thadeus obviously knew nothing, but Gaelan finally spoke up for himself.
Though apparently it was Seven that knew nothing. He gasped audibly at the sudden sight of the wings, eyes wide and staring noticeably at the scally back. "WHOA," he stage whispered. "You're a pegasus???" He stepped closer to the colt, trying to peer at his shoulders and spot where the wings might have come from. He looked from the kirin to the adults for an explanation, but they made no note of the illusion and so Seven wondered if they had not seen it. It certainly wouldn't be the craziest thing he had seen in this temple. He followed the adults lead absent-mindedly, still watching Gaelan with awe.
"How did you do that? Where did the wings come from?" An idea suddenly struck him, and his eyes glowed brighter than they had in a long time. "Could you grow fins too? Could you teach me?" If this kirin could turn into a pegasus, then perhaps being reborn wasn't the only way for a unicorn to turn into a hippocampus. Excitement rose in his chest, completely unaware that his fast paced questions might be overwhelming to the kirin.

Ra felt her lungs suck in a deep breath at the words of Thadeus, and felt her heart twinge in pain at the words that were directed at the young Kirin, but she couldn't bring herself to reprimand the child- her heart aching for all that had to be stuck without their parents and loved ones during this war. 'He's a little shit, but one without his parents,' she thinks, eyebrows going up into a soften expression as a long sigh falls from her lips. 'These pour children,' her mind is racing a mile a minute on what they must be going through, and she remains herself that they are depending on her and the other three adults, so she can't bring herself to say anything harsh.
Sinclair's words ring in the back of her ears as she listens to the pale coated mare, 'His upbringing.' Ra's face twists into a sadden expression, and she gives Sinclair a look filled with sadness.
And just like that he concern has been torn from the young Kirin, over to the Hippocampus.
"Thadeus," Ra breathes out, taking a few steps away from the oldest of the foals, motioning for her to follow with a quick flick of her head- her long braid only wrapping tighter around her neck with her movement, "Maybe there is something in the Temple that you can mess with?" She leans her head in his direction, "Maybe something that you can take all that energy out on?" She chuckles, noticing that he seems to be the most worked up out of all the foals- he certainly seemed like he had enough pint up energy for them all.
She grins widely at him, "I have some stories about some of the warriors in Sedo, if that's more up your alley than the silly stories about sick patients," She hopes that will appease to him more than the tales of drunk incidents and idoitic patients that have had too much to drink. "Have you heard of Thunderbirds?" She asks, watching as Sinclair instructs all the children to make their way back to the Temple.
Straightening out her neck, she stands tall as she glances down to Thadeus before tossing a look back at Adeline- worry is evident on her face as she waits for the two children she has singled out. She feels her heartache in pain, but does her best to put on a tough face for those that she knows might not be able too at this moment;
"Adeline, why don't you stick with me?"
"I think we deserve a soft epilogue, my love. We are good people, and we've suffered enough." WC: 433 | Post #3

Belle’s eyes widened as Diana unwound one of her pretty bells and gently floated it over to her. The filly could hardly believe that a grown-up she’d only just met would want to give her a present, one could almost see the stars in her eyes as she excitedly worked the bell onto her single-bead necklace. Mama and Brother had always said that it wouldn’t be proper to wear anything else on it until she was big enough, but maybe it was different for Serora horses? And as long as she put it away before Dawson came back, maybe it’d be okay to wear it. Just for a little while! She barely heard Diana’s offer to show them how to dance, so enamored was she by the new trinket.
“Thank you, Miss Dia—” Belle started, but the cheery mood was interrupted by the grumpy looking foal from earlier. He asked about how much longer they’d have to stay at the temple… a question Belle still wondered to herself, at times, so it didn’t bother her as much (even with the rude undertone.)
What did bother her was the way that foal talked to the Desert horses. ‘Aren’t you Alya’s people?’ Belle had been taught from an early age that the winged goddess was a menace, a terrible force that had ravaged Hireath with hers and Ignacio’s cruel, unnecessary battle for power over all the land… but just because a horse was of Alya’s in blood didn’t make them her children in heart. She knew this because of Dawson’s own friends, some of whom were pegasi. And… and they really didn’t seem anything like the Alya that Belle had heard about. They were kind and friendly, much like… much like how Krein wasn’t anything like the kirins in Talori’s stories… and his stories about Ignacio were so... different...
Did... did Miss Diana and Miss Ra have different stories about Alya?
She may have lost herself in a farther train of thought down this line if the rude colt didn’t suddenly turn on the shy kirin next to her. Wasn’t it obvious what he was? And why say such mean and awful things?
“..’s not a dumb creature or a weapon,” she mumbled under her breath, the fins on her side flaring a little with the unspoken offense she’d taken, but in spite of the kirin’s initial show of fear, that seemed to be enough for him. He took one brave step and then introduced his name. Gaelan.
Gaelen then proceeded to wow everyone with the great secret he’d been hiding all along. He wasn’t a creature, or a weapon, or even… or even a kirin!
He was a Pegasus. And not just any Pegasus, but one with wings that could turn invisible. Belle had never seen anything like it. Wait… wait! Was he a hummingbird Pegasus? That would explain the shiny green on him (she’d mistaken those for scales, oops) and why they couldn’t see the wings all the time. Maybe he was always fluttering them super fast, or they were just super small and tight against his back like a real hummingbird’s.
It was then that the grown-ups stepped in, with Diana scolding the rude boy—Thadeus—and the other grown-ups talking things over, but ultimately the decided plan of action was to venture further into the temple. The thought of that excited Belle. Dawson had told her of the magical visions he and Krein had seen deep inside, and all the pretty pictures on the walls. She would love to see them for herself. She wondered if any of those visions would come to her, too.
Seven’s interjection was a welcomed one after Thadeus. His excitement was especially contagious with the thought of the temple, and Belle couldn’t help laughing just a little. He spoke really fast.

Gaelan found himself shrinking back just a little bit as the dark colt got in trouble. He hadnt meant for that to happen, he was just defending himself was all. His eyes went wide as Diana turned her attention to him, his large ears pressing back as he prepared to get a scolding as well. He didnt know what he did wrong, but lately, it seemed, all he did was wrong. Instead, he was met with a soft smile and a compliment, causing his lips to curl in a grin. So many had told him that he was not a pegasus, that he was lying or playing tricks because "thats what children of Ignacio did," yet.. she believed him. Dipping his head sheepishly, he watches as she turned to talk to the other adults. His gaze shifted back to Thadeus for a moment, a smirk present on his lips.
His attention was pulled back to the adults as one called their names, leading them further into the temple. He walked along with a new purpose. Not so much pride, but.. belonging.
It was then that a light colored unicorn colt appeared beside him, startling young Gaelan as he peered at his withers where the wings had been only moments before. Gaelan narrowed his eyes and stared at the colt with curiosity, taking note of his strange dark markings and beautiful horn poking out from his forehead.. just like his. He searched his brain for the colts name- Seven? Yes, he believed that was it.
His head tipped to the side as suddenly questions spewed from the older colt's mouth, almost too quickly for Gaelan to keep up. While he would typically be overwhelmed, he found himself.. comfortable for once. A wide grin spread across his lips as he nodded. Another one who believed he as a pegasus! Finally! He could feel the excitement growing in his chest. Oh, how he wished he could speak with the same fluidity of the others.
He stayed quiet for a moment, walking along side this older colt as he tried to decide how to answer. After a moment of thinking, he looked back toward Seven. "Fins?" He asked, looking toward Belle for a moment before turning back to Seven. Focusing once again like he had before, but this time with his eyes open and focused on the pale colt beside him, he brought upon the illusion of fins on Seven's shoulders. Again, it did not last long, but they fluttered in brilliance for the few seconds they appeared.
Giggling softly, he shook his head. "I cannot teach." He said, stepping in front of Seven and coming to a stop. He curled his spiked tail around and tapped the other colt's chest softly. "In here." He grinned before turning back to follow the adults.
Gaelan was not aware that he was the only one able to use his blessing. As far as he knew, everyone was born with it just like him, they just had to learn how to use it.

⚔ T H A D E U S ⚔
TALORI | TENDERFOOT
As young Gaelan showed obvious offense to Thadeus's questioning, Thadeus himself put up front. He flicked his tail and stomped his hoof, ready for a challenge but was taken aback when the other colt changed his appearance.
“Pegasus.” He said as wings sprouted from his shoulders.
'A TRICK!' Thadeus pulled his head away from the sight. Eyes widening with fear and anger, he stepped closer to Laurens.
The wings vanished as quickly as they had come and so too did Thadeus's initial reaction. Instead it was replaced by frustrated confusion. 'Why would anyone want to replace their scales with feathers?' His train of thought was interrupted by the sound of Diana's sharp tongue directed at him.
Thadeus's ears pinned back tensely to his neck, but his face remained defiant. 'What was this mare doing scolding him? She had no right!' Then Sinclair stepped in and started talking about his upbringing and how he shouldn't be blamed for his behavior because of it. Thadeus perked up realizing that she was on his side but the way she had talked about him made him feel mildly insulted.
Meanwhile, Gaelan was getting a lot of positive attention from everybody for his little magic trick. He sent a smirk toward Thadeus who had gained nothing but negative feedback from his first interaction. Thadeus scoffed in response. He would never admit it, but he was jealous in this moment. He would, however, gladly confess that he'd wish for his mother's giant feathered serpent to gobble them all up for being so dumb and mean to him.
He puffed air from his nostrils. 'Yeah, that'll teach them.'
"Thadeus," The dark mare named Ra called to him and moved closer. She motioned an older filly to follow her and that's when he noticed that filly also had feathers. 'Ick' He turned away from them and ignored Ra's advances to appease him until she dropped the topic of 'Sedo warriors.' His ear twitched and he peered at her from the corner of his eye but he was still too stubborn to take the bait. This did not stop her from pulling in her lure though.
"Have you heard of Thunderbirds?"
Ok that got his attention. Thadeus spun his head to her, a comical look of bafflement plastered across his face.
"What's a thunderbird?"

Ra's question fell mostly on deaf ears. Adeline frowned deeper, much like a child who couldn't get their own way. Well, she was. Adeline shuffled and curled up her body tighter. She finally let out a loud, heavy sigh. "No." Adeline couldn't recall a time when she'd admitted to feeling awful. Maybe that one time when Kenji found.... Or that time she woke up to the news of Ollin's.... She pressed her ears flat against her neck and sniffed. She wasn't going to cry, no matter how much of the tears were welling in her eyes. "Okay. Please." She murmured in response to Ra's suggestion. Adeline stretched out and pulled herself close to Ra's side, fanning out her plumage of vibrant pink feathers that were crooked from where they were not quite fully grown. The plumage around her face was no different. She glared at Thadeus, curious about what his damage was. What was making him act up so much. Did he lose a friend? She wondered how many- If any... Had lost someone. Adeline's teeth began to grate against each other as she followed Ra to the inner walls. She glanced back at the entrance as she left her spot. The sun had been hidden behind the clouds against so she closed her eyes. Reminiscing the last bit of sun before she'd be further behind walls. "Isn't a thunderbird not....From here?" Adeline peered up at Ra. She had only heard tales of Thunderbirds, that was it. It wasn't from Aquore though. Was it a creature that lived among the sand folk? -263-

Her lips twitched up into a at the questions that flooded her from the two foals that she had taken upon herself to keep an eye on. A soft chuckle falls from her lips, 'Finally got his attention'. Ra can't help but giggle at the look on the young Hippocampus' face- finding his look of bafflement to be particularly amusing at the point. Hearing Adeline come up from behind, Ra turns her attention to the pink-wing pegasus, nodding her head in response to her question;
"I believe they are only native to Sedo," Ra answered her question, grinning ear to ear. Her heart was beating against her chest as she reminded herself that these were still children and maybe simple talk about the strange creatures from Sedo would be enough to keep them entertain and not so fixated on the war that was taking place around them, "They bring rain and stoms with them." She chuckled, not sure if there were any creatures in Aqoure that had the same supernatural air around them- Thunderbirds oftening being a sign of storms coming.
She decided to maybe get a little bit more dramatic with her story, "There was even one time that there was this wildfire in the desert, and with the help of some of the Furies, some of our warriors that rule the skies," She shot a look over towards Thadeus, wondering how he would take winged warriors, "We managed to put out the firestorm by leading the Thunderbirds over it. And the best part is," She tosses her head over to each of them, leaning down slightly as she lowers her voice to a whisper, "We even have domesticated ones. Although they don't bring rain with them." She finished, letting out a heavy sigh after her words.
"I had the privilege of getting the right to have one as a familiar. Her name is Seker, sadly I could not bring her with me, so she's back in Sedo," Her face falls down into a sadden expression, thinking of the domestic bird that suffered from separation anxiety and how much it paid her to leave her back in the desert nation. But she quickly changes her expression back to a happy one, hoping the idea of birds that bring rain with them would be enough to help their imagination go wild for just a little while.

KEAHI TALORI | ENTERTAINER
Keahi stood to the side, next to a wall in the ancient temple, listening to the foals playing a distance away. Some newcomers, smelling of dry sand and wind, had arrived with another foal. She had withdrawn, not wanting to be in the way of the others. This temple was a strange place, and she still had a difficult time navigating it.
There was a strange tension in the air today, and when Laurens called for the children to be gathered she realized she too had been feeling strange all day. The clattering of small hooves followed the request, and one pair split off, coming up to her and stopping at her side. She smiled and nudged Aisake's shoulder. "Why don't you follow the other children, dear. I'll be along in a moment."
Once she was satisfied that Aisake was on his way to the inner temple with the rest of the children, she walked over to the adults. Diana, who was, unsurprisingly, a Seroran mare, introduced herself, as did Sinclair. The other Seroran mare was telling the foals about thunderbirds, and Keahi found herself eager to learn stories of them. She could ask later, when things calmed down a bit. Now, though, she could introduce herself. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to intrude, but I heard some introductions. I'm Keahi, and over there is my son Aisake. I am... I was an Entertainer with the Talori." She smiled, hoping her lack of eye contact wouldn't be taken as rude by the foreigners. "I am blind, by the way, in case you were wondering. I'm not shy about it, and I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself, I assure you. I'll do my best to help with the foals, but I won't be useful for much else, unfortunately." It was times like this, when she had to make excuses for herself, that she felt most irritated at being blind. Most of the time it didn't bother her - it wasn't as if she knew what sight was like - but when she could feel the judgement of others? She felt ashamed to be a burden. No matter how much she knew that wasn't true, that she pulled her own weight, she still felt as if she made life harder on the others. It was ridiculous, but still she felt it. She felt her smile slip, and focused back on the conversation. "It's wonderful to meet strangers from so far away, even if it is under such unfortunate circumstances."

Seven | Tenderfoot
Seven nodded violently as Gaelan repeated the word "fins," but he didn't butt in to the other's obviously focused silence. His mother had taught him he talked too fast, and sometimes he needed to give them time to respond. That's why he thought nothing of the kirin's gaze concentrated on him, but he would never have expected what happened next.
The flash of light caught his eye, and he turned to look at his own withers. Floating there were fins. Transparent and intangible, but fins none-the-less. For the brief moment that they existed he stood perfectly still, wide blue eyes unblinking. And as soon as they disappeared the elation that had built up in those seconds burst from him. He gave a childish whinny, and bucked sideways happily. He was a hippocampus! He'd always known it, and now he had seen it. All of the doubt and sadness that had smothered his imagination in the past few months melted away. His heart soared, and it was all he could do to stop bouncing as Gaelan stopped in front of him.
Though the kirin was much younger than himself he suddenly felt such reverence for him, for he had made his dream come true. He certainly didn't put him on the same pedestal as Cascade. No, definitely not. That would be crazy. But... the goddess had not yet given him fins... and so when the tail tip touched his chest Seven whole-heartedly believed the other foal. One day he'd be able to grow his own fins at will, just as he believed that the little kirin could one day grow his wings. He looked at his shoulders again, hoping he might make the fins appear, but nothing happened. After a second he shrugged. Obviously it would take practice.
"I'll keep trying," he grinned widely at Gaelan. "Hey! If we go too far into the temple maybe we'll see some of the visions that show what the past was like! They move, and they're super cool. I bet you'd really like them." He couldn't remember seeing any scaled equines in the visions Athaliah had shown him previously, but maybe they'd run into her and she'd know if kirins were in any of them. He nodded to himself, following alongside Gaelan.
The thunderbird conversation caught his ears, and he listened intently, his mind immediately jumping from the previous conversation to this one. "But how do they make it rain," he asked, brows knitting as his train of thought got caught up on that particular detail.

Adeline looked up at Ra as she described the Thunderbirds. She hummed. To be able to fly and bring something joyous out of flight in comparison to how the Talori viewed the Pegasi... She could consider herself lucky, she had no wings. Only feathers. The chunky filly began to trot forwards away from the comfort of Ra's side, out into the open of the inner sanctum and giggled softly. "Maybe the Wave Mother could find a way to bring them here, to wash away all the bad horses. Maybe return all those who are lost." She huffed in defeat, wiggling her silky tail which in turn made her plumage shimmer in the soft light.
An overwhelming surge of energy and confidence instilled itself within Adeline. "I don't think we should listen to stories. I think we should be doing something. Anything. Maybe it's not out there but...In here we could at least pray." She flattened her ears in a quick sharp turn of shyness. "Though... Don't you pray to another? Not the Wave Mother?" She mostly addressed the Serorans. Adeline grimaced, okay perhaps that idea wasn't the best. "Stories are boring. You made be from another world over...There but stories are tiresome and all we have at the moment are the stories of the war. Even silly stories have become boring. They don't stop the worry. SO! I propose a game of tag! We have the temple to play in, why stay still?"
Perhaps it was for her own sanity that she needed to think of an outlandish game to play. She was becoming restless and tired of moping.

Belle nodded at Keahi’s words, familiar with the mare and her son ever since they had all stumbled upon Cascade’s old temple. She didn’t know the blind entertainer very well, but she’d listened in on a few of her stories and songs (albeit off to the sidelines or peering out from behind Dawson), and liked the sound of her voice. She liked how gentle she was with her son, Aisake; even if watching them made her miss her own mother, sometimes.
“Yeah… it’s… it’s nice to meet all of you.”
"Hey! If we go too far into the temple maybe we'll see some of the visions that show what the past was like! They move, and they're super cool. I bet you'd really like them."
The filly’s ears swiveled straight in Seven’s direction, her heart almost skipping a beat. ‘You were there?!’ she wanted to ask, but Seven was talking to Gaelan, and Belle didn’t want to interrupt. That would be rude, and Mama had raised her to be a polite young lady. Maybe she could ask Seven about the visions, later. He liked talking, so maybe he’d like telling her all about what he’d seen down there.
In the meantime, though, Belle had more pressing questions nagging her thoughts; questions that had surfaced in the wake of the bully-colt’s outburst, and those were more urgent. After all, the desert horses didn’t live here. Who knew how long they’d be staying, and how long she would have to seek the answers she wanted?
As they walked, Belle found a place at Diana’s side; the grown-up she felt the easiest around. Her newly acquired bell jingled cheerfully from around her neck, and Belle couldn’t help making a couple pleased skips in her step, even with the apprehension of what she was about to do.
It took some time for her muster up the courage to speak up again, but when she did, Belle got straight to the point.
“Um… Miss Diana? Can I ask you something?”
The palomino took a breath. “You see, um… my brother and I are friends with a kirin. But he’s nothing like the kirins I learned about in stories. And… our friend’s stories of Ignacio are really different from ours. Cause in our stories… he… he’s mostlythebadguy… But Krein says he isn’t bad at all, and talks about Ignacio like he’s someone who can be just as nice as Cascade. And that we just haven’t gotten to know him. I… please don’t be mad at me?” the filly’s voice faltered then as she looked down at her hooves, ears pressed flat to her head. “But… sometimes, in… some of our stories, well… Alya can be a bad guy too.”
“B-but if Krein says Ignacio’s not bad, and Krein’s not a bad guy, then, then I want to know what horses from the desert think about Alya! Cause… cause maybe I just don’t know her well, either. And you all are from her land, and you’re all really nice. So I… I just wanna know if you have any stories about her? The only one I know is about how she and Ignacio fought a war with each other, and almost–”
Noooooo, no, the more bad things she said about Alya the madder Diana could get—or worse, Belle could be hurting her feelings. She might have already upset her as it was.
“… Well, that’s the only one… really. But I’m sure you know a lot more than me… butonlyifyouwantedtotalkaboutthem.”
The poor foal still hadn’t returned eye contact ever since she first looked down. This whole thing had been a daunting conversation, and perhaps—but hopefully not—a really big mistake that ruined her newest friendship.
