Diana || Savior
Diana listened in as the entertainer introduced herself- the inner doctor within her perking at the mention of blindness. Only to be squashed down as the mare went on to explain she was more than capable of taking care of herself. Diana frowned slightly at Keahi's proclamation, "Nonsense- You'll be more than helpful with or without the children." She offered the mare a smile before turning to begin to walk further into the temple- a small worm in her stomach thrashed at the thought of going further into unknown territory. Only to be joined by a new voice Diana had earned over the last months- an angry and hateful voice, always shouting at her that did anything truly matter... Diana shook her head and walked, glancing down and smiling as Belle found a place at her hip. Diana let out a soft chuckle as she heard the jubilant rings of the bell that mingled with the soft whispers of her own.
Diana walked in silence for a while- not expecting conversation, but that was when Belle's voice drifted into their ears, “Um… Miss Diana? Can I ask you something?” Diana blinked for a second, and went to confirm- only for the fillies questions to start spilling from her lips. Her eyes went wide and her full attention was on the small palomino, her mind reeling at the provocative thoughts that entered her head. Diana was silent for a few moments- her mouth feeling dry and her thoughts sullen. She had heard whispers of how Talori viewed her two patron gods- it saddened her. Shaking her head, Diana turned to Belle and offered a light smile.
"Belle- it's true that Alya took great actions in the Gods War but... Well let me put it this way- is the wind always harsh and is the sea always gentle? Is fire always uncontrolled and is the earth always fruitful? The answer to all of those is obviou- No, each element has a duality. Not good or bad per say, but a duality I've seen many forget." Diana sighed, "Alya to my people is... a distant, passionate, and dedicated mother. As you call Cascade the 'Wave Mother', many a Seroran call Alya the 'Wind Mother.' She created the landscape where I live to test us, to prepare us for the hardships we would face, but she is not just harsh. She is also seen as someone who will come running to protect her children." Diana sighed once more, an exhaustion veiling her eyes, as if she had voiced all of this before. "Yes, Ignacio is the one who started the War, lives were lost and cities burned, but aren't we all capable of redeption? Ignacio brings the sun and the warmth of the hearth. He guards those who love him with the ferocity of an unchecked flame. He is loyal and dutiful- just think of how constant the path of the sun is or how the light of the sun never truly disappears on a cloudy day. Yes, my Fire Lord has made mistakes, but that does not make him unredeemable. Look to Gael- who is blessed with the power to create pictures with his mind in any shape or color-, to me- I was born sickly and weak, the Savior's thought I would not make it through the night. But as the dawn raised over the dunes I rose with the sun, greeting the God who presumably saved my life- , to Ra- who is blessed by him-, to the world around you. None of this could truly exist without his light and the sky and stars would not be here either without Alya."
Diana walked for a few more paces in silence, her eyes dim and her gaze fond. "You know- there's an old tale among my people saying that when the rainy season comes it is the meeting of Alya and Cascade. The tale goes that whenever the rainy season comes, Alya and Cascade meet, and they both dance with joy at the sight of each other- a joyous happy occasion at the meeting of siblings. Alya can be gentle and kind, but also ferocious and unforgiving. It is just like the ocean, you must learn to love and fear the wind." Diana sighed once more before looking over to Belle- her tired crimson eyes shining with a mirth unseen in so long, "Do not disregard the stories you've been told, for they do hold some truth to them, but if you are willing. Dig deeper, look towards the sun and reach out to the wind, call into them and you might just get an answer back. But sum up my view of them... Alya is the force that drives me forward regardless of the grief that I have struck. Ignacio is the twinkle in my eye that allows me to see the potential in any situation and fool to grasp that hope. I love them dearly and I hope they return it in kind."
Diana smiled at the filly before trotting forward- wanting to escape the heavy air- only to find a large overgrown room. The perfect place for everyone. "Everyone! I found us a nice room to hunker down in. Come in when you see fit."

Gaelan felt the excitement explode from the other colt as he gave a buck and a shout of happiness. A wide smile found its place on Gaelan's lips as he watched, his heart feeling as though it was going to beat from his chest. He had never seen someone so happy, nonetheless, have it be because of him. He didnt understand why the other colt wanted fins, but he knew not many understood why he wanted fins. In that way, they were the same, and Gaelan found himself incredibly proud that he could give Seven that little bit of hope, even if it didnt last for very long.
He looked to his new friend as he fell in step beside him, claiming he would keep trying at growing his own fins. Gaelan gave a nod, showing faith that he knew Seven would be able to do it too one day. His head tipped to the side in curiosity, his whiskers flicking as Seven mentioned something about moving.. visions? "Visions." He repeated quietly, not for anyone in particular to hear, but for his own self to put that word to memory. He didnt know what it meant, but apparently he was about to find out.
He was pulled back into the reality of the others when Seven asked about Thunderbirds, and then Belle mentioned Kirins. Gaelan found himself tuning into the Kirin conversation more, as he was curious of the creature so many others claimed he was. However, he found himself disappointed when their conversation really turned out to be about the gods. He was not interested in such stories; they certainly did not seem possible. He instead followed along quietly, turning his attention back to Seven and the question about Thunderbirds. Perhaps those creatures would be more interesting.
His large ears shot up as one of the adults called for everyone to come, claiming to have found a new room for them to stay in. He made his way toward it, excited to see what else the temple had to offer.

With all those things she had said about the nice lady’s goddess, Belle was quietly going into full-panic mode over the disastrous turn things may have just taken. And it would be all her fault, too! If Miss Diana didn’t want to speak to her ever again it would serve her right for having ‘rambled’ on so much (that was the word Krein would use whenever she was getting too carried away talking about something) and she would just have to say sorry and stay with one of the Talori grown-ups for the rest of the trip. The young hippocampus wasn’t expecting Diana’s tone to remain so soft or kind with her anymore, not now. But to her great surprise and relief… it somehow did.
Still somewhat skeptical over how calm Diana sounded, the filly peered up at her with a single eye—ears still flat against her head—just to get a glimpse of the mare’s face. Her gentle expression was what finally assured her that no ill will had come between them, and as Diana’s lengthy answer went on, Belle’s shamefaced posture gradually wore off, returning to that of a curious child rather than a skittish one.
She listened as Diana confirmed that Alya fought a war with Ignacio, and presented the two sides of each element that the gods controlled. Belle hadn’t ever heard the gods spoken of in this way, but when she thought about it, it did make sense. Sure, the winds brought storms, sometimes; but what about the soft, cool breezes she liked to catch on hot days? Fire could be scary when let loose in the forest, but it also kept them warm when it was cold and gave light for them to see at night. The ground had pretty plants, but sometimes it was just muddy and yucky. But… did that mean that Cascade could get mad, too?
…The filly decided to skirt that question for now.
She kind of liked how Diana and the other Serora horses called Alya their Wind Mother in the same way Belle and the others called Cascade ‘Wave Mother’ – that meant they had something in common! (sort of)— but was more-so surprised by the mare’s admission to following Ignacio, too. Krein would probably like talking to her! If he wasn’t too grumpy by the time he got home, that is. And Belle also liked the idea of Ignacio keeping the world warm with sunlight because he was sorry about what he’d done before.
"I didn’t know Ignacio made the sun rise. Or that he was the sun.”
“... Oh! Alya made the stars?! So does that make her the moon?”
But what excited and thrilled her most of all was the story of Alya and Cascade. All she had ever known was that the two were complete opposites of each other. Alya was a spirit of war and bloodshed while Cascade was of peace and healing; Alya sought to destroy, Cascade only wished to protect. But the tale of them being happy to see each other instead of angry was an image that spoke to her heart. If Alya and Cascade were sisters, then of course they’d dance instead of fight! Belle couldn’t fathom a world where she and her brother hated each other. If they would always love each other no matter what, wouldn’t the gods be the same way?
“It must look so pretty when they dance...! Have you ever seen them dance, Diana? Do the other gods do things like that, too?”
However, as delighted as she was by the things Diana had said, Belle was well aware of how much it differed from everything she had ever been told. She knew that Mama and Dawson would never want to lie to her… but then, what did that mean about Talori’s stories? And Krein’s? And now Diana’s? Was there a way they could all fit together? Or… were some of them wrong?
However, Diana must have seen her excitement falter in the wake of her turmoil.
"Do not disregard the stories you've been told, for they do hold some truth to them, but if you are willing… Dig deeper, look towards the sun and reach out to the wind, call into them and you might just get an answer back.”
Pray to them? Was that what she meant? Belle had never prayed to anyone but Cascade, so the thought was admittedly daunting… but… maybe it was the only way…
“…R… right…” she started, returning Diana’s smile. “Maybe I could… try that!” And then, after a pause: “… I’m… really happy that Cascade and Alya are friends. Cause that would mean Serora and Talori are supposed to be friends, too. I bet it makes them happy that we’re all together right now.”
That was where the conversation ended, for Diana had come across a large room where they could all stay and rest in the meantime. The filly was itching to tell the mare how much she'd liked those stories (and to maybe even ask if she had more) but she didn't want to interrupt Diana from anything important. Deciding she'd do that a little later, Belle instead looked around hopefully for any sign of the magical murals her brother had seen. Were they here? Or would they all have to explore further in?

Seven | Tenderfoot
If Seven had learned anything here in the temples it was that stories could be fun too. He had never been opposed to reading before - though he had not liked it as much as his brother, Five - but play had been more important. Now he knew that stories brought about imagination too, and he had learned so much from the stories that the temple told.
However, he was still a foal, and one whose hyperactivity had slowly been returning, and he could not resist a game of tag. Not waiting for an answer to his question he bounded forward from Gaelan's side, looking back towards his new friend in invitation. For a few moments he ran around the inner sanctum, his hooves skidding on the stone as he hopped over piles of rubble. Without stopping he tagged Adeline, and skipped away. The game lasted only moments, limited by the room's size and the group's continued movement. As as he skidded past Diana he picked up what she was saying to Belle, and he couldn't help but drop to a walk besides them to listen.
He had come to love learning about all of the gods, not just Cascade. It didn't matter if the stories were good or bad, he had started to feel like there was a place for each of them. And he walked besides her at rapt attention, chest rising quickly as a result of his outburst of energy. The colt loved the way that the Seroran talked about the gods. She viewed them with such reverence... and not just her own goddess, but all of them.
"I bet that's why hippocampi and pegasi used to be friends! Athaliah showed us that here in the temple. So maybe they were friends just like Cascade and Alya!" He followed Diana into the room, barely taking note of his surroundings as he turned this information over in his mind.
"But why..." he started, his smile fading as it was replaced with a quiet sadness, "... why are the Flock attacking us then? Are Alya and Cascade not friends anymore?"

Diana || Savior
Diana was almost scared out her whits as the flea-bitten palomino foal named Seven skidded past her with all the exuberance of a child in play. She skirrted to the side with all the grace of a well trained dancer and calmly continued her tale. Her eyes lit up as Belle's innocent questions spilled from her lips. It was rare for Diana to ever speak so freely of Alya, even rarer with Ignacio, but something about the way the children asked questions and lit up at the most simple things made her lips unseal and her heart unclench- if only for a short while... It was then Seven decided to make his question known- and make her airy mood fall. Diana glanced over to the small colt, her gaze filling with a clouded sadness. Her answer came out hollow and quite- as if she were talking more to herself than to the two foals at her side, "No, Alya and Cascade are sisters- the bond between the celestial siblings is unbreakable- they will never stop being friends. And-" Her voice stopped cold, her eyes cleared and she her energy leave her in a great rush of wind. Her neck fell and her head was brought low- down to the eye level of the two foals- though Diana only looked forward. "-and the Flock attack because the claim to be avenging the lives of those pegasi whose have been given over to Cascade. Whether they are justified are not is a grey subject best left for another day. But enough of such heavy subjects, let me answer your questions Belle- and you best listen Seven, I don't think the sisters would take kindly to having their dance ignored," Her voice echoed a playful tone as she brought her tail high and forced a bounce into her step. Playfully, Diana brushed her tail across Seven's hind legs, hoping to created a ticklish sensation. She turned to Belle once more and smiled, "To answer your previous questions Belle- No, I have never seen the two of them dance, though I don't think they would want to be disturbed anyway... And you could say Alya and Ignacio are more of the makers of the sun and moon... Like how a brewer makes brews or how a weaver makes tapestries. The Gods made something that is familiar to their hooves somehow. Like how the wind is inconsistent or how fire can readily burn for ages. I also bet they are ecstatic that both Talori and Serora are together- though I bet they wished for our meeting to be on happier terms."
With that Diana moved farther into the room, the cracked, cobblestone being speckled with patches of emerald green moss, even some patches of grass and flowers that stubbornly rooted themselves in the cracks. The stone walls were smooth, but had greyed with age. The bottoms of the wall lined with a repeating, but simple lotus design carved neatly into the stone. With in the center of the large room stood a raised plinth with a pearl design resting under its curved edges. On the plinth stood the broken remnants of a statue- only the back hooves and bottom part of the hind legs still stood. There was no indication of what God or figure it could have been. The walls rose up into a slightly concave ceiling, the smooth stone interrupted by a large crack in the ceiling, which opened up to the sky as the sun spilled its light through the crack and into the room- greedily filling the space with its glow. It was large and open- surprisingly free of the musty smell. Shelves lined one of the walls- mostly empty except for a few small boxes and mismatched tools. Diana threw her head over her shoulder once more, "Come now everyone, this room seems big enough to fit the whole lot of us."

Ra chuckles, lips pulling into a wide grin at the actions of Seven- happy to see that children were still acting like children, and she even feels her nerves calm as Adeline separates herself from alongside her; relieved that she might not have to worry over her as much as she had. But the youngest of the Saviours doesn't get a chance to respond to Seven's questions before he is off asking Diana other questions- alongside that of Belle's.
Ra listens to the words that leave Diana's mouth, not really sure what all she could add to the words she is already telling the children. But Seven's questions peak her interest and she only lets a small chuckle fall from her lips, "They indeed are sisters," She chuckles, leaning down to his height, "And just like any siblings, they don't get along sometimes." She says, "I'm sure you know some siblings that don't see eye to eye sometimes," hoping somehow that her words make sense to him and that she wouldn't have to dive any deeper into the ongoing conflict that was taking on outside these walls. But part of her wants the children to keep asking these questions- anything to ease her mind on what is going on with the Flock. Her Fury was out there doing Alya knows what, and it pained her to even think what idiotic thing he would do next. From what she had heard of the Flock... She shakes her head side to side, attempting to rid the thoughts.
Diana's words bring her from her thoughts as she turns her attention to the room they have stumbled upon, she waits patiently for everyone else to slip through the door before she too files her way in. She feels this strange calm take over her as she glances around the room, she certainly felt safer in her but that destroyed stature gave her the creeps- she wonders who once stood there.

A. Laurens
As the children gathered, Laurens continued watching. She was wary of the Serorans, but they'd yet to dismay her. Thadeus was always near, severing him from most other children most of the time. She was happy to have the other children there, but he didn't seem to agree. The scaled colt even less so. Thadeus gawked at the scaled foal, earning the gentle "Thadeus, we must be accepting of others, please apologize" from Laurens. With all the children gathered, Laurens nodded to Sinclair, silently asking her to follow. Laurens had explored these halls many times and knew of just the room. She lead her following down a hall, sparing a look into the fallen wall onto the wilds. She paused, but continued just the same. The further they went, the less holes there were. It seemed like they were underground, but no one really knew. Finally, they came to a room with a corner window looking out over the wilds. Laurens stood by the door, letting everyone in before she rounded off the end. She stayed quiet, like always, and listened. 185

SINCLAIR CASIMIR INDENTURED SERVANT Sinclair allowed the Serorans to again draw attention back to themselves, and she smiled softly with Thaddeus's inquiry to the Thunderbirds. While she herself had not heard of them, she did not echo the same curiosity to know of them. The desert, while perhaps a home to the newcomers, was no home to her. She took close to Lauren's side, following her as the Serorans aided to guide the children into the new room. As was becoming theme, the cremello mare waited for the rest to make their way inside before standing as a relaxed sentry beside the closed of door, a hoof cocked, and her eyes soft as she watched the room. "Seven," She called gently, having heard what he'd asked Diana, "Don't worry yourself of the friendships and the fights of the gods." She nudged the young horse lovingly. He had had a rough time during the Flock occupation, so alone as he was in the Wilds. "Give them your love and admiration and they will watch over you."
She moved forward then, calmly stepping to where Ra stood in order to say quietly, "If we could move from discussion of the gods and of the Flock it would be best." She scanned the room, "We are not aware of who are orphans yet and I don't want you to be put in a position of making false promises to a child that may hope too much on their value." Sinclair was in no way accusing. Only worried. Worried that a few slip-ups and the Serorans could unearth a whole new wealth of anxieties for children that truly did not need to have that kind of worry placed upon them. Sinclair herself had only kept calm by watching the children. Devoting all of her waking thoughts to ensuring they remained safe. The tear-drop amulet she had received from Cascade upon first reaching the Wilds sat upon her chest, a welcome, if small, weight grounding her.

Seven | Tenderfoot
Several adults were quick to respond to his question. But he was old enough to realize that their answers were diversions. Perhaps they were sentiments from the heart, but with that certain tone adults used when foals were asking too many questions. But Diana's words only brought more questions to the colt's lips, and Ra's cut through with sudden memories of his own siblings. Thankfully, just before his reminiscing could turn sour at the remembrance of his current familial status, Diana perked up. Her movements mimicked the foals' own playful manner, and he couldn't help but duck his head and skitter playfully forward as her tail tickled his hocks.
He smiled up to her, listening to her explanation. Again questions flooded his mind, but he had the sense that the adults did not want to, or perhaps were not supposed to, talk any more abut the gods. Instead he amused himself with looking about the room. It was fairly similar to the other empty rooms in the ruins. He stood up with his hooves on the wall, trying to peek into the unmarked boxes on the shelves, but found nothing to hold his interest. He turned to the statue, eyeing it for a moment.
Seven cocked his head. Had it been Cascade? But then wouldn't a hippocampus tail be left instead of hind legs? Who else though, would have a statue in this place?

TALORI | TENDERFOOT
Thadeus puffed his cheeks in frustration. He was doing his best to hold is tongue after Laurens chastised him but all the flowery talk of the gods and friendship was rubbing him like splintered wood.
The foreign mares described a world too fantastical to be true. It felt like a distraction. A distraction meant to keep simple minds subdued from the problems of the real world. Problems like war, abduction, and the Flock. If the gods were so mighty and righteous why would they let things get this terrible?
The white mare, named Sinclair, piped up to change the subject as if she had sensed the rising agitation in the young hippocampus. However, her concern ended up sparking the fuse that was in the colt instead. He did not like being called 'orphan'.
Thadeus spun on his heels toward the pale mare. He held his head high, trying to muster up as much dignity as a child could, "I am NOT an orphan! My mother is Nagisa Marinus Anereus, Councilor of the Talori, and my father is Thaumas Anereus, Defender of the the Talori, and he was MURDERED by feathered traitors in cold-blood!" He turned to the rest of them, his voice was cracking and his eyes watering, "I-I... I would NEVER be friends with a pegasus!"
His eyes zeroed in on Gaelan then, "And you're an idiot for wanting to be one."

Her attention is drawn away from the foals and her fellow Savior by the feeling of a presence next to her; turning her head slightly to face Sinclair, she takes in their appearance as the pale mare speaks. Ra only nods her head in agreement, hoping and praying that she hasn't particularly said anything too offensive towards the Talorians- she would never forgive herself if she had done such a thing.
"Of course," Ra mumbled back to her, giving Diana a look from across the room; hoping that the paler Savior understood what she was trying to say with her soft scowl. An eyebrow juts up as if to put emphasis on her expression. Enough was enough. The gods, especially the ongoing battle between Cascade's and Alya's people was certainly nothing the children should be concerned with right now. Certainly, there were others thing they could certainly find some other way of distracting the children. "Our Furies are out there, and others of Sedo. We have both of our people out there to worry about," Mainly referring to the mention of orphans, and what exactly might be going on behind the walls of the Temple. Ra hadn't shared much about the Furies and other Sedo warriors, council members and everyone in between that had been on the other side of those Temple walls.
The Serorans had just as much to worry about as the Talori. But this was not the place to be discussing politics and what exactly it meant to be sending so many of the Sedo people overseas to help this land.
Ra doesn't have a much of a chance to voice anything else to Sinclair before the outburst of hippocampus colt draws her attention. "Thadeus..." Her voice is soft and gentle, barely even audible over everything else that is happening in the Temple. The young mare isn't quite sure what to say towards the poor soul, only shots a questioning look towards Laurens, having put together that she was mainly the one responsible for him- maybe she could know some way to calm him down.
Her lips fall down into a soft frown, trying not to let too much of her emotion show towards the children as she didn't want any of them to feel as if she as displeased with any of them. Orphans, widows, and everyone else that could be affected by the war raging outside suddenly weighed on her shoulders- oh, now why did she allow this talk to stray towards talk of the Flock? By Ignacio, she should have kept this all in check.

Diana | Savior
Diana fell into silence as her fellow adults piped into the conversation- giving their own two-cents on the subject. Her eyes bounced from one to another as they finished their statements, but her expression grew shaded sightly at Sinclair's words, the venomous in her head thrashing in rage at the prospect. Diana shook her head, that voice had become stronger and stronger as the months ticked by, causing her to clam up more and more often. Most days didn't go bye without at lest one glare being sent in someone's direction. She also became much more irritable, lashing out at the most trivial things- it scared her. She knew better than to act out in rage, but... with the death of her brother because the wind didn't carry his wings, the death of her as the unforgiving wilds dragged her away, and the estrangement with her father, Diana had become alone, bitter and cold. Diana was snapped out of her stupor as her fellow Savior threw a glance her way. She looked back with slightly narrowed eyes and a harsh on her lips, as if to say 'What? I'm not going to brush off the children!" Diana turned away to walk in further when Thadeus's outburst reached through her ears. Something in her broke at his words. Flashes of her brother's bloodied feathers and her mother's carved neck made her shiver. She could still see the broken bones and torn flesh, and the red... all the RED. Diana snapped from her daze as Ra spoke the colts name. Turning back around, Diana's already broken heart shattered further as she saw the tears glisten from the colt's eyes. She noticed the silence that followed the colt's outburst- another voice within her reared at the boy's tears and was yelling at her to help him- NOW. Diana slowly crept forward, brushing past Belle and Seven as she went. Coming to stop by the side of the colt, Diana arched and curled her neck down slightly to get a better look at him. "Thadeus, Look at me." Her voice came out soft and slow; reflecting the kind and shy mare Diana used to be, all soft words and curved edges. "No, you are not an Orphan. You are the son of two proud horses who are giving and gave everything that they are to help protect this herd. Yes, the flock came from the mountains and struck this herd with all the fury of a hurricane. They are in the wrong, they should have never taken so many innocent lives or have forced many to flee for their very freedom, but..." Diana stopped the train of thought, 'Another time' Her mind whispered. Shaking her head she brought down her head and looked Thadeus dead in the eye, her gaze pouring out all the warmth and fierce protectiveness that only a mother or wounded heart could muster. "Your mother is out there protecting the herd she loved and your father gave his very life to protect innocents. Protection, Thadeus, we can not turn anyone away who comes seeking it...but-" She shuffle closer to his side and brought her head fully to his level, "While your mother is gone and the world around us is in chaos, please, let us- let me- protect you. We all will ride this storm 'till the very end." With her words ended, Diana stood brought her head back up, but kept herself by Thadeus's side, offering her ear or side as a place of comfort.

The colt made himself comfortable in the room, drowning out the fairy tales of talks of the gods and their relationships. His ears twitched at talk of the Flock, a smile finding his lips with slight pride, as that was what his dad had claimed to be part of. While the Flock wasnt very inviting to Gaelan himself, the little kirin was convinced that he would convince them otherwise soon. He just needed to prove that he was useful, that they needed him. However, he tried his best not to show it. His affinity with the flock had gotten him in trouble before, and it seemed that those around him werent too keen on them either.
It wasnt until the young trouble maker from before spoke up once more did Galean turn to face him with both curiosity and frustration. He didnt know anything about the dark colt, and he felt his heart aching at learning of his father's death. However, the sympathy didnt last long when the colt looked him straight in the eye and called him an idiot.
Gaelan felt rage building up in his chest, his knees quivering as he did his best to hold himself back from tackling the other colt right then and there. His tail whipped behind him in frustration, spikes kissing the ground with each curve. He had had enough.
"Shut up!" He finally barked, a snarl finding his lips to expose his sharp incisors. His voice echoed in the room; this was the loudest he had spoken since his awakening. He had heard Whitaker use those words on him many times, though Gaelan didnt particularly listen all the time. However, he knew what it meant.
He felt tears brimming in his eyes, but he did not hold them back. It wasnt long before they were streaming down his scaled face as he stepped closer to Thadeus. He heard Diana trying to talk him down, but Gaelan had had enough of the adults trying to step in. This was not their fight, and Gaelan wasnt going to lose.
With a shout worthy for battle, he tackled the other colt to the ground, aiming to grab his ear between sharp teeth.

Thadeus's little body became rigid from the proximity of the unfamiliar mare. Diana did her best to comfort the difficult colt with soothing words, but Thadeus was too proud and too guarded to let her in. The sand mare may have looked a bit like his mother but he knew she wasn't. She didn't understand. No one could understand. They were all idiots.
He stubbornly blocked out Diana's attempts at appeasement while he concentrated on sucking back his tears. He would not allow himself to be seen as vulnerable. He was the Defender's son! And like his father, he was destined to be a warrior, and warriors never cried. Crying was for babies.
To help distract himself, Thadeus kept his gaze deadlocked on Gaelan who was all too upset by the Hippo's most recent outburst. When the Kirin charged for him, Thadeus braced himself and met him head on.
With a grunt and a loud smack, both colts were tumbling across the floor in a heap of green and white scales. Both colts fought with clumsy determination but Gaelan's greater mass ended up giving him the upper hand. The kirin went for the Hippo's ear, clamping down hard with sharp teeth.
Thadeus screamed in agony as he tore away his head. Blood dripped down his neck and onto the floor. A piece of his ear was missing.
"LOOK WHAT YOU DID!"

A. Laurens
She always knew she was a bad mother for Thadeus, he had a perfect and proud mother anyway, but today, it seemed everyone else was doing it for her. She thought about what Nagisa would do. She'd tell, not ask, the others to stp mothering her colt. Laurens, though, was far too distraught to stop them. She was reeling from Sinclair's implication. Nagisa couldn't be dead... She couldn't. Nagisa promised. Thadeus' reaction echoed Laurens' own. She couldn't rightfully scold his rage because she thought it was justified, but Ra's looks made her unsettled. The mare was already shy, now she was being judged. "SHUT UP!" the strange colt demanded, bringing Laurens out of her head. She watched in slow motion as the colt went and attacked her very light, Thadeus. She was frozen until she saw blood. "LOOK WHAT YOU DID!" her own child yelled. The mare was nothing if not strong, and so she shoved a leg between them and then her whole body, knocking both boys to the floor away from each other. She was standing over them now, with pain in her eyes. She stared Gaelan down before scolding him: "You both stop it! This is no way to express your feelings! I know not who raised you, but they'd do better to teach you to calm yourself and react differently. This is why we are here in the first place! The flock has your mentality! All blood and battles and killing! That is no way to solve anything! You'd like to be like them, yes? Murderers who tore Thadeus' father from him before they could even meet? That is how you are acting, Gaelan." she spat before turning, "And you! I expect more from you! I asked you to be respectful! What would your mother think if she was here? You should be ashamed of what you said. Apologize." With her last demand she stepped away from them, turning to Gaelan again and adding, "Both of you." 330

Seven | Tenderfoot
Seven's attention was torn from the statue by another loud outburst from Thadeus. He understood where the colt was coming from. His own father, a guardian, killed by the flock, and his mother still a possibly prisoner of the Flock. But it was the childish level of understanding that came without sympathy. He could only watch again, wide-eyed, as the situation escalated quickly between the other two colts.
The fleabitten foal was not a fighter by instinct. He had never been in a fight any more serious than a scuffle with a sibling. Outside of the house he had largely played with his twin, and so had not even gotten into any tussles with the other foals of Inaria. He wanted to help his new friend Gaelan, but he had no intention of getting in the middle of this fight. It was dumb for them to do this! Fighting was dumb! Thadeus's anger at Gaelan was dumb! The temple had been a blissfully peaceful place, where one could almost forget about the outside war despite the constant reminders. But it took just the sound of the colt's bodies colliding with each other to shatter that months-long illusion. How dare they do this here!
Seven's face grew serious, and tears sprang up in his eyes as well. He stepped towards the two, adding his own voice to the commotion just as Laurens was beginning to step in. "STOP IT! THIS IS CASCADE'S HOME AND YOU SHOULDN'T FIGHT HERE! SHE WON'T LIKE IT!"

Gaelan had never been in a fight before. The worst he had done was accidentally knock someone in the knees with his tail. However, he had lunged for the ear of the other colt and his teeth had grabbed a hold, ripping flesh and filling his mouth with sticky, warm blood. Before he had a chance to get in another bite, he was kicked away from Thadeus by Laurens, the mare standing over the both of them with pain and disappointment in her stare.
"LOOK WHAT YOU DID!"
The colt slowly pulled himself to his hooves, blood dripping from his muzzle. His gaze flickered with irritation and distaste as Laurens scolded him, his large ears pressed back against his neck and tears still brimming in his eyes. They had no right to assume who he was! No right to bad mouth his dad's family! They didnt even know his name until but an hour ago! As far as he was concerned, the Hippocampus deserved losing every bit of blood that dripped from his wound.
"Apologize. Both of you."
Gritting his teeth together, his glare turned turned to Thadeus, whiskers flicking at his chest, almost daring the other colt to open his stupid mouth again.
"No." Gaelan spat blood to the ground, letting it splash against his hoof. His voice was strangely calm, his breath leveling as he turned his attention to Seven as the boy shouted about not fighting.. Cascade wouldnt like it.
He dipped his head to rub his eyes and tear stained cheeks on his knee. He wasnt going to apologize for something he wasnt sorry for. It was obvious these horses didnt like him, and the nice talk from before had been a trick. Perhaps everyone else was in on it too? He took a step back, his gaze flickering between each and every one of the others in the room. He wasnt sure who he could trust now, if anyone at all.

Belle was once again struck with wonder and envy as Seven spoke of the visions he’d seen in the temple. She really did wish she had been there, and was a little disappointed that nothing magical had happened in this room. But then again, she could always ask Dawson to take her the other rooms later… and it was still fun listening to Diana’s explanations of the gods.
As more grown-ups started getting involved in the conversation, the filly grew more self-conscious, her familiar timidity returning in the growing numbers. She, like Seven, was starting to pick up their undertones, and had a feeling that their talk was over anyway. Belle was disappointed by this, too, but that was okay—Diana was still her friend. She could always tell her more about the gods later! The little hippo instead turned to the rest of the room, taking in its interesting features with her wide eyes when the grumpy boy from earlier spoke out again.
And this time, he was much, much, angrier.
This was how Belle learned that he wasn’t just any foal, but someone very important. His mom was a Councilor, and his dad…
H-his dad…
Belle laid her ears flat at the revelation, horrified. The flock had killed him. They had killed Thadeus’ dad. Horror and sadness mingled with seeping anxiety. Was her mother okay? Or had they killed her, too?
But it only got worse when Thadeus called Gaelan an idiot. Th-that wasn’t fair! It wasn’t Gaelan’s fault that the flock had attacked, and he wasn’t bad just because he was a Pegasus! Not all pegasi’s hearts took after Alya’s—
… But… but that wasn’t right, either, was it? Because Diana said—
“SHUT UP!”
The scene broke out into chaos when Gaelan shrieked, tackling the boy who’d insulted him to the ground as they fought each other with a fury Belle had never seen. She shrank back as the clamor rose, trying to think of a way to stop them, trying not to think about the awful fighting that happened in the crowd when the flock had attacked. But the sudden smell of blood made her efforts futile, and the filly-- not knowing what else to do with herself, what else to think-- fled the commotion entirely by hiding behind the broken statue in the room, curling up at the base and covering her head with her forelegs. More people were shouting now, and she sniffed back tears as she tried to shut out the chaos. She didn't notice when things had begun to quiet down. She did not want to be found. She just wanted to be back in her quiet hiding place with the Cascade idol. She wanted Nimhue and Krein to help her choose the right colors for it.
She wanted Dawson to come back.

Diana | Savior
Diana had never been happier for someone to intervene instead of herself. Her forgotten frustration and rage came crashing back down with all the fury of a summer storm. Diana was absolutely livid as she saw the blood drip from the Thadeus's ear- and Gaelan's lack of apology. Something in her stirred with a protective rage. She didn't know why, but over the last few days she had become fiercely protective of this lot. More than willing to release hellfire that even Ignacio would be proud of. Glaring at both colts, she stalked forward with deadly precise steps and a cold grace so rarely seen, and stopped in front of Gaelan, her hooves echoing a resounding 'clack' as she harshly pounded into the stone. Her once quite bells clacked together, the ringing sliced through the thick silence with a startling sharp and crystalline yell. "Gaelan. With me. Now." Her words came out clipped and cold- with a silent danger that just dared the colt to defy her words. Swiveling her head she turned to her fellow Savior, "Ra, may you please assist Thadeus." Then turning once more she turned to the hippocampus and mare, "Thadeus, I'm going to ask you to keep away from Gaelan. This applies to you as well Gaelan" She snapped. She raised her voice with only the slightest hint of anger, but her message was clear enough, "Laurens is right. You claim to detest the Flock and yet you lower yourself to their mentality. So until you both can learn to stop going after each other like rabid dogs you will remain on opposite sides of the room and accompanied by an adult at all times. I will not have any argument on this-" She sent a pointed look at the other adults, "From any party." With a final huff, Diana turned away and began to walk to the opposite side of the large room. As she moved, Diana nudged Gaelan and accompanied it with a disappointed look. As she walked she motioned to both Belle and Seven, "Belle, Seven, I think it best you two come with me." With that, she continued to move forward, her body rigid and her eyes cold, all previous signs of merriment gone. Before she completely separated herself, Diana sent one pleading look to the adults, pleading with them to help calm all the children down.

Ra's only reaction to the outburst is her eyes going wide in shock and confusion. Her pools of deep blue dart back and forth between each colt, her attention being snapped towards Laurens as she separates the two colts. Ra watches and listens t the tone of a mother, and it seemed to be the thing that was most needed for these colts to realize what was going on. The seal bay mare could almost sense the stress on everyone's shoulders, and now she realized that the children might be carrying the most stressed due to those who weren't sure if they would have family waiting for them on the other side of the Temple walls. A hard truth that most needed to face, whether or not they thought it was good for the children or not. But Ra does nothing more than thinking this, giving Sinclair a glance of pity- Ra was sure those words were meant for only her to hear, but it seems everyone has excellent hearing in this room, and that secrets can't really be kept.
Diana's voice pulls Ra from her thoughts, and her lips pull down into a thin line- something similar to a frown, but the youngest Savior is trying to keep it from showing too much. She understood that Diana's tone of voice only came from all the chaos that had just broken out among them all, but still, no one liked being spoken to in such a way. Ra only nods her head; not bothering to vocalize her thoughts to her companion as she allows her legs to carry herself over to Laurens and Thadeus.
Ra gives Laurens a quick look. Her facial expression is soft, and she silently asking if it is okay for her to clean Thadeus' bleeding ear, and once she is given the all good- Ra gets to work. Digging through her pack she had brought with her, deciding that someone would eventually get hurt enough for her to need some supplies. "Thadeus, this might sting a little, but it'll make your ear feel better," She mumbles, speaking softly and gently to him as she dabs a damp cloth over his bleeding ear. She uses her Ignaioc given blessing to cause a slight burning sensation on one of his legs, nothing harsher than a bug bite but enough to hopefully distract him while she gets to work. She began wiping lightly with the cloth trying to rid him of the blood, putting more pressure on spots where it began to dry, but all in all, being very careful and gentle to his wound. Quickly wiping up the blood that dripped down his neck before wrapping his ear in some gauze, hoping it was tight enough to stop the bleeding but not too tight that it was going to cause him any pain.
"I don't have any painkillers," She mumbles, shuffling through her packs- grimacing when she realizes she skipped over bringing any potions or herds that would dull the pain, "If it starts to really hurt, let me know. I'll figure something out to help." Ra gives him a weak smile, hoping that he understands that she wasn't going to harm him or yell at him.
"I think we deserve a soft epilogue, my love. We are good people, and we've suffered enough." WC: 546 | Post #6

KEAHI TALORI | ENTERTAINER
Keahi followed the group as they moved into one of the temple's inner rooms, listening as the children talked and played. Aisake came running back to her as they entered the room. He seemed tired of playing, and walked with a heavier step than normal.
For a few minutes she simply listened to the conversation, especially the one between one of the foals and Diana, the Seroran mare. The child was asking about the gods, and Diana was giving a perspective Keahi had never heard. She claimed the Wave Mother and Alya were friends; sisters, even. Keahi had heard something like that in her time on the Isles of the Dead, but to hear it here, in a temple that was presumably to Cascade, it seemed almost blasphemous. Still, it made her wonder. How much of what she had been taught was truth, and how much simply Talorian bias?
Her moment of introspection passed as one of the foals – Thaddeus? – started shouting. Her ears reflexively flicked backwards at the suddenness of the noise, and she heard Aisake jump. The adults moved quickly to silence the foal, but they didn't move fast enough to stop one of the others, the little one who claimed to be a pegasus but was not, from attacking Thaddeus. The filly shouted at them to shut up, but it was too late. Keahi heard the clatter of their hooves and the thud as they hit the floor amid squeals of fury and pain.
She moved to intervene, but several adults were already pulling the children apart and scolding them. That settled things for them, but what about the filly? Keahi had heard her run away in the commotion, and she was behind some large structure in the middle of the room which Keahi could vaguely feel with her teke. She walked over, Aisake following in her wake but staying behind her.
The filly was the one who had been asking the questions about the gods. Bella? Yes, that was her name. As she rounded the statue she could hear the little girl's nervous breathing and muffled crying. Keahi's heart nearly broke at hearing it. Curse these troubled times!
"Dear, are you all right?" Keahi stepped closer, standing right next to the filly where she lay curled up on the floor. "You shouldn't worry about them. They're just worried, and they don't know how to show it better." Gently, she nudged Bella's flank. Aisake didn't interrupt, for which Keahi was thankful. Maybe in a bit she would be willing to try and play, but now wasn't the time.

As the ruckus inside the room dies down, the sounds of the sea can heard through the thick stone walls of the temple. The sounds grow louder and louder, until it seems as if the ocean has completely engulfed everything outside of the room. The walls seem to melt away before your eyes, like ice left in the sun, and you are left standing in what appears to be the vast expanse of the ocean. You watch in awe as the ocean floor beneath your hooves begins to quake, giving way as it rises from its bed, making its way to the surface. As you emerge from the waves, you look out over the vast, empty expanse before you, as thousands of hippocampi breach the ocean’s surface, staring towards this new island. An all too familiar voice speaks, and those you can’t understand the words, you can feel their meaning. This island was to be a gift- from the hippocampi to those in need, and the goddess’s people would be given a gift to enable their ability to help those who sought it . Once the moment has ended, the waters begin glowing as thousands of hippocampi begin to change, their fins giving way to foreign legs, leaving them to quickly make their way to the land, unsure and unsteady on these new appendages. There is a sense of fear in this unknown, but a feeling of pride as well. In a matter of minutes, you watch as weeks pass by. Tents are prepared, huts built, and resources gathered until finally strangers start pouring in - equines from all across Hireath seeking refuge from the war. Desperate and injured, they make their way into the camp, and the hippocampi begin tending to them under their goddess’s watchful eye. Weeks pass and the refugees have begun aiding the hippocampi in their tasks, some have even begun receiving blessings from Cascade herself as she adopts them as her own. Weeks rapidly turn into months, and you watch as horses from war torn nations across the world band together, building each other up and caring for those in need while the war continues to rage on outside of Aquore’s borders. Even as you watch Ignacio’s fiery rage wipe out hundreds of their brethren, they never once falter in their task, healing instead of harming. The scene begins to fade, slowly dissolving to leave you in the empty temple hall once more. At the center of the room stands the familiar statue of the sea goddess, gazing down at you all, pearl tears still gracing her gentle face. While there is no loud voice or earth shattering presence, you are left with the feeling that you can and should do better.

"Dear, are you all right?"
Belle—although her face was still covered by her own legs—recognized Keahi’s voice in the welcomed silence. She raised her head and sniffed as she wiped her eye with a knee, feeling embarrassed for having been found crying like a baby. Still, she was glad it was Keahi. Her voice was soft and worried, like her own mother’s, and it was good to hear after all the fighting. And Keahi wasn’t laughing at her or anything, which was even better.
“I dunno…” she answered honestly.
"You shouldn't worry about them. They're just worried, and they don't know how to show it better."
The filly flattened her ears. “I—“ she sniffed again, wiping the other side of her face— “don’t get mad at people when I’m worried.” Her statement was tinged with gloomy petulance, but she responded to the gentle mare’s encouragement all the same, getting up on her feet and casting Aisake a shy, unsure glance before looking away.
That was when the ocean outside got louder.
It took a few moments for Belle to get what was happening. She was too transfixed by what the Vision revealed to even realize it was a vision at all, until the strange voice spoke and the hippocampi around her began to walk on land for the first time. The tenderfoot gasped, her own hind feet stamping in place self-consciously as she watched her ancestors learn what it was to shape-shift for the first time.
She watched them prepare a haven for those who would need it in the coming months, and forged for themselves a legacy of healing and sanctuary. Whoever needed their help, it made no difference to the hippocampi or to Cascade. Horse, Unicorn, Pegasus… they were all friends now, no matter where they had come from. Cascade even blessed some of them!
However, not all of it was enchanting. Ignacio’s murderous rage frightened Belle, and it was awful seeing so many people die… but that didn’t stop them from doing what they felt was important. And to them, the most important thing was to help others in their time of need.
As the vision—a vision! She had finally seen one for herself!—faded away, Belle was left with a feeling of awe. She began to look around, wondering if anyone else had seen what Cascade had shown them, when an unexpected shadow made her balk.
The broken statue she’d been hiding behind was… fixed. Where there had only been hind legs before, there was now a fully restored body of the Wave Mother, but not with the familiar flowing fish-tail that Belle was used to seeing in other depictions of her. Cascade had the form of a hippocampus on land, decorative fins lining her back and sides. As the filly circled the statue, entranced by its… by its ‘there-ness’ (she couldn’t think of a better word), she was met with Cascade’s gentle eyes; glistening pearl tears streaming down from them.
Belle felt its message bore into her, and not knowing what else to do, gulped and nodded silently up at Her. She wasn’t sure what she could do to help others. She wasn’t very big, and she wasn’t strong, but if Cascade wanted her to try, then she would.

Seven | Tenderfoot
Diana's harsh tone, though not truly directed at him, made Seven regret shouting. Mother would have reprimanded him in the same tone. He wiped his eyes quickly on his shoulder, trying not to look at the nasty wound that Gaelan had caused Thadeus. Tail tucked like a dog's he followed the mare to the corner of the room, along with the kirin and the hippocampus foals. He chanced a sideways glance at his new friend, but the camaraderie seemed to have disappeared. Gaelan seemed tense, and when they did make eye contact it was full of distrust. Seven looked away, not sure what to say.
The quiet murmuring of adults checking in on the children now seemed odd in comparison to the easy conversation from just a few moments before. No one was playing or telling stories now. This was how it often was in the temples - the peacefulness and companionship never lasted long. The anger and fear that the war had brought always crept in somehow. Seven leaned against the wall, allowing the cold of the stones to seep into his coat. Blue eyes closed, and he tried to imagine something happier. Like the fins that Gaelan had shown him. He remembered that second of how he had looked. How he had felt. He tried to imagine himself in the ocean, using those same fins to swim effortlessly through the water.
The waves rushed by him in a controlled urgency, and he could so easily hear them. They were so clear. Brow creased, his eyes peeked open. Why was it so clear? Suddenly the wall against his shoulder rumbled, as if fighting a force of water outside. The colt righted himself and took a surprised step away as it just began to disappear. And suddenly he was in the ocean. He could feel the water around him, though there was no sensation of being wet. He wasn't scared. Far from it. He felt as calm as he had in his imagination, because in the water nothing could go wrong. He felt the tear of Cascade against his chest. The Wave Mother was always with him.
Before he could turn and truly admire the sea around him, it began to shrink away. It was as if the tide was going out in fast motion, and he looked up as he grew closer and closer to the surface.
Everything happened so quickly, and yet also seemed to take an eternity. He was one of the hippocampi, listening to his goddess speak. He looked down and realized that the fins he had imagined were real, but were quickly fading to legs again. And though he wished to stay in the hippocampus form, he new what Cascade was calling them to do. He was there, helping the wounded. The devastation was so like many of the injuries he had seen from the flock, and, when thinking back on the vision years later, he would wonder if his mind had consciously planted such similarities, or if history was truly repeating itself so closely. Seven marveled at the willingness of all to help, and began making connections between this vision and those of the peaceful pasts told in the other rooms of the temple. Everyone worked together. Everyone lived together. And their only goal was to help one another. All through the blessing of Cascade.
As the vision ended Seven suddenly gasped, as if he had not drawn a breath since the hippocampi rose from the waters centuries before. His legs shook under the pressure of Cascade's final calling. Do better. The tear suddenly sat heavily, but not uncomfortably, against his chest. It was simply a confident push, a source of motivation. His eyes were drawn upward and he was not surprised to suddenly find the statue restored, tears running down its stony countenance. They matched those on the statue in the main temple, and the tear that he carried with him. His own eyes brimmed once more, and he stepped forward. Gently reaching out, his soft muzzle touched the goddess's hooves before he looked up towards her face with a genuine smile that promised a better tomorrow.

SINCLAIR CASIMIR INDENTURED SERVANT The immediate reaction from words she had merely whispered caused Sinclair not only shock but also intense distress. The fight that erupted, though short, further cemented her insecurities. Then it was clear, perhaps the Serorans were better for the children; Laurens even knew how to act the mother to Thaddeus. As quietly as she had stepped forward to express her concerns prior the fight, she stepped back away from the group. She found herself one of the corners before cocking her hoof up and taking on the appearance of someone far more serene than truly reflected her thoughts. The cremello remained quiet, her blue eyes surveying the scene. Maybe it was simply the nature of a mare who had grown up within the Talori, had seen her father's devolvement into a criminal of society, who had worked amongst the upper class, that the Serorans continued to rub her the wrong way. They were to brash with their emotions. They seemed to talk about anything and everything leaving little unsaid. They were crude in some manners, compared to what Sin had been raised by. They were everything her brother would have despised. She allowed her thoughts to capitalize her mind, ignoring the realities of the room around her. She did however notice the mare lament her lack of painkillers. Sinclair spoke up, "I've begun cultivating the necessary ingredients to the simpler of potions I felt we might need here." She said softly, "Meaning that I should be able to design a potion to heal you Thaddeus using the scraps we've scavenged within the temple." She cocked her head, "And if a potion is not plausible, I am familiar with more herbal medicines and can aid you." Just as quickly, she reserves herself to her thoughts again, only to have them interrupted. Watching the history of her culture develop, watching the carnage of the God's War, watching the sanctuary the Talori offer, Sinclair almost feels sad. It was nice those days, she can see the beauty of the people shining through. Knowing the outside world would delight Cethin, and perhaps even Sinclair would be curious to know. Even so, she blinks open her eyes slowly, feeling relatively hopeless even still. That is until she sees the pearly tears of the goddess again. Sinclair felt the weight of the necklace she'd been graced with the last time she interacted with a statue of the goddess. If Cascade wished it, then better would she do. Sinclair did not understand her; still struggled to even see the faults of the society she'd grown in and loved so dearly, but if change was necessary then change would occur. She looked amongst them all, but said nothing but a small prayer under her breath to her divine mother.

The colt's glare shifted to Diana as she spoke to him, his large ears flat against his neck and whiskers flicking with irritation. She wanted him to go with her? Why? He didnt have a reason to trust her and as far as he knew, she could be leading him off to yell at him. He whipped away from the bump she gave against his shoulder, huffing through flailed nostrils.
He was about ready to storm off in the opposite direction before the sound of the crashing sea filled his ears. He found himself frozen in place, his eyes widening as the sound grew louder and louder. He didnt know what it was, as he had never been to an ocean before, but it was terrifying. He could feel the sound vibrating through his bones, as if it was entangling in his very soul. His heart started to race, panic setting in as the walls around him melted and there was nothing left but vast, open water for as far as he could see.
He tried to run, but it was like his hooves were stuck. He watched as the scenes folded before him, Hippocampi forming from the waters and making their living, forming the herd that Gaelan had been trapped in. Fear continued to rage through his chest, but he finally felt it settling as someone - something - set fire during a war.
"Ignacio." He whispered quietly. He had heard that name before. Many whispered it when he passed by, but he did not know who that was. However, he had a feeling the beast of fire was this Ignacio. It brought peace to his nerves, settling his racing heart. Whoever this Ignacio being was, Gaelan felt a connection to him.. one he did not understand.
The scene folded away, the statue restored, but Gaelan found himself still stuck in place, tears dripping down his cheeks. He felt hollow, looking upon the statue, and he longed for that brief moment of inner peace he had felt when he had seen the fire god.

KEAHI TALORI | ENTERTAINER
Keahi smiled encouragingly at Belle when the filly stood up. Hopefully the filly would be able to calm down soon, perhaps even play with the rest of the foals. This cursed war! Adults could squabble among themselves as much as they wanted for all she cared, but when it started to involve foals? That was going too far. Much too far. She tapped a hoof restlessly against the old stones of the temple floor, frustration and bitterness balling up inside her until she could barely contain it.
That was when she heard it. The sound of the ocean, far louder than it should be and growing louder by the second. Suddenly afraid in a more immediate way, she pulled Aisake close to her. She could feel something strange, like a memory of being surrounded by water, endless water. The ocean? What was going on? The ground underfoot began to shake terribly, and she could feel that it was no longer stone, or at least not the same sort of stone. She kept a tight grip on Aisake as she felt the ground... rise? She was strangely sure that they were rising upwards, could almost feel the water moving down past them as they went up.
They broke the surface – the feeling of being in water disappeared – and she heard a voice. It was like her mother's voice but it spoke a strange language. Still she felt she could almost understand the words; they explained that the land they stood on was a gift from the Wave Mother herself, a gift that would allow them to help refugees. Refugees from what? What war had been so awful that Cascade herself would become involved?
Keahi felt other horses, strange horses, around her, and the peculiar smell that told her they were hippocampi. They were stepping onto the land, and somehow she knew that it was for the first time. She could almost see it, she was sure. She knew what was happening almost as if the story was being whispered into her ear.
Other horses arrived, war-torn horses, and the hippocampi began the work of helping and healing those who were hurt. Before long they were all working together as more and more refugees arrived. A burning fire raged and tore horses apart, but still there were more who would help. There were always more.
Slowly the feelings faded away, the ocean retreating to its normal distance and the sounds of battle, hurt horses, and healing faded off into the distance. All that was left in their wake was a feeling, deeper than anything Keahi had felt in months, perhaps years. It was kind and gentle and deeply, deeply sad. The sorrow twisted Keahi's heart and she realized with a deep sense of conviction that they had failed Cascade.
They had failed her in allowing the sacrifices to continue. They had failed her in not showing kindness to outsiders. They had wasted her gifts, and somehow she hadn't abandoned them. She had come back to warn them and show them who she was and how they could return to what they were meant to be. A single tear trickled down Keahi's cheek, slowly followed by a stream of others. There was so much work to be done, but Cascade would smile upon it.

A. Laurens
The scaled boy's opened defiance gave insight to his upbringing. Laurens was appalled at the lack of respect and decency he had. Perhaps Seroran children were just like that, though. Laurens didn't dwell on it though. Instead she went to her own charge. Sinclair was offering to make potions to help Thadeus' wounds. Laurens nodded before agreeing. "That would be excellent, Sinclair, but please also see to it that Gaelan is cared for, too, regardless of his behavior." The mare asked the other before turning to Thadeus again, "Are you sure you're okay? I can try to use my blessing to try and repair your ear, but I can't promise it will take..." Nagisa would be devastated to see such a ghastly wound on her son's body. Before any reply could be brought to her ears, a consuming roar sounded. Not one of a lion, but of the ocean. They were too far into the wilds to hear the ocean, much less at this intensity. The world went white and then came back new. She watched the hippocampi bring Aquore to rise. She watched them grow their land and the flow of strangers. She watched them ebb as fire tried to overtake Aquore. She watched it all, and knew all. This was familiar, though. Bits an pieces were strewn on the walls of the ruins, but too much was missing to make any sense of it. Now, though, she had the pieces.
As suddenly as the vision erupted, it left. Here and gone like the tide. Laurens took a breath before looking around the room. Seemingly everyone had experienced it. The first words out of her mouth, as always, were out of worry for others: "Is everyone okay?"

Ra gives a gentle smile towards Sin, glad to hear that someone was a little bit more prepared that she was. It had all happened in such a hurry that Ra had managed to skip over a few things that were crucially needed for this time- how could she have forgotten painkillers?
She feels her bones and muscles relax at the sound of the ocean. It lulls her into a peaceful state of mind, and she wonders why anyone in this land can be so uptight and bitter when there was something so peaceful right outside their homes. Wait. Ra freezes, is it getting louder? A scream could have left her lips at the sight of what was happening. Great expands of the ocean was taking over her vision, but she still felt at ease- like this was something that was supposed to happen. The Saviour felt safe in these waters. Odd.
She can feel the quaking going up through her lands and into her very being- they rise and rise until they break the surface. Then there is a voice. Ra does not understand what is being said, but she can feel the power behind it. It's familiar in a sense; it's familiar in the power and comfort that is held behind it. Cascade. The Talori's god. Ra had never prayed to her, but she still feels welcomed and safe. Then her people come. They grow legs, and her mouth falls open at the sight- their first steps on land, their first steps on an island gifted to them by their Wave-Mother.
Time rushes by. Then it seems to come to a halt as others flock towards Aqoure- seeking refuge and safety from the War. Her heart swells at the sight. Ra understood that feeling- she understood being the one that others turned to for healing. The hippocampi turned no one away- they took the winged, the horned and those of common. They accepted them all and gave each any everyone the care and tending to they needed. Even as Ignacio's children tore don thousands, they never faltered. She glances towards the tattoo on her shoulder, eyeing the blue patterns with a soften expression- how could she have done this? How could she have marked herself with him... Forgive me, Sky-Mother... Forgive me Wave-Mother.
Healers. Caretakers. Souls that healed instead of harmed. Even as the War raged around them, they never stopped. They continued to work under the eye of their goddess. Ra felt tears roll down her face in a silent cry.
Then just like that, it vanishes. And Ra is left staring up at the statue of Cascade. Her heart aches and its swelling with a mixture of pain, confusion but slight joy in what had been done for the others. Then she feels that feeling. That feeling of a disappointed mother looking down at her children. And even though she has never prayed to her, Ra can't help but feel ashamed.
"Wave-Mother," her words leave her lips with a breathless sigh. And in one swift movement, she bows her head in respect to the statue.
Do better.
