Prompt: A few days ago, letters were sent to the temples of Nariah (as well as the Palace) requesting the summons of the Priest and Priestesses to meet upon the Day of the Wisps. It was an odd and unexpected request, seeing as the sacred day is one of the busiest holidays in Breim but summoned you were nonetheless. With the Royal’s busy schedule, a Help has been sent in their place to receive whatever message the Priestess Judith has to offer. Along the journey there, a curious citizen has taken interest in the small party. As each of you enter into the shrine, you are met by Donagi who wordlessly shuffles the small group into the main prayer room. Why are you here and why of all days would a Priestess choose to bring news when words are all but banned from the waking world?
Time Of Day: Late-morning

The room was still, candles flickering in each corner casting long shadows onto the tatami that covered the floor. Donagi released a heavy sigh, ears perked towards the sliding door waiting and listening for the voices that were sure to come. His pelt crawled with anxiety, shoulders tense as the silence seemed to drag on for hours. The stallion was sure only a few heartbeats of time had passed since he had last slid open the paper thin door, dark eye's peeking out into the garden just past the temple's wooden gates. 'no...' he thought, mind racing with possibilities for the upcoming gathering. 'Kaia has never let me down. She has willed this to come and come it shall.'
A soft ruff from behind broke the magi from his thoughts and with one last look at the door he turned to head back into the inner rooms. He could hear a light humming fill the air, quiet enough that only the stillness revealed its presence to him. The old wood floor creaked beneath his weight, each step drowning out the gentle tune until it stopped all together. His stomach twisted in his gut as the faithful stallion stood outside the room where Judith lay. He had not left her side since Kaia had surprised them both with her gift, not like the others that turned and fled what they could not understand. They were along here now, in the old building surrounded by trees but it was not so bad. The life of the dedicated had always been simple and quiet.
With a soft touch of magic, Donagi slid open the door to reveal his Priestess lying quietly on the futon he had so carefully laid out for her. Blankets draped her shoulders, covering her small figure in a way that dwarfed her even more. The tiredness in the mare eye's had yet to fade after the birth of her first foal but a smile still graced her lips as she lifted her head in welcome. Beneath the clothe, the impression of the foals sleeping form rested, pressed against her mother's belly.
Despite a hard labor, Judith had taken to motherhood with ease; instinct guiding her every move. With her Magi's help, the new mother had all but forgotten the differences that shimmered along her filly's back.
A subtle knock sounded from the main room, causing Donagi to jump a bit with surprise. His momentary peace was now at an end and they would have to face the horses on Nariah if the young family was to move within the herd once again.

Haruka | Priest (Argus' Temple)
Three months. That was the amount of time that had passed since the Aodhian's set foot and departed from his beloved, peaceful city. The beat of leather wings and the cries of a dragon; sounds that were unfamiliar to his home - would be embedded in his memory for as long as he lived. He would never forget that day. The crowding of citizens to the temples had been what claimed most, if not all of his time. There was not a single moment that he could stand still, not even for a short break. Horses needed to be tended to, to be reassured that their gods were merciful and were watching over them; protecting them. But a letter delivered to him in the beak of a white bird was what finally tore Haruka from his work. For near blind eyes the letter was difficult to read but it was read nonetheless. Judith was summoning them - but why? Although reluctant to leave the sanctuary of his temple, Haruka was pressed for answers, so the summons was answered.
Outside of Argus' shrine lying just beyond the temple steps lay a blanket of peaceful silence. Haruka luckily managed to find his way to the shrine where the mysterious meeting was to take place. He was careful to take the most familiar path in order to avoid any troubling obstacles. Although much to his surprise his nose was roughly met by what felt like a door. The roan's brow narrowed as he twitched his upper lip - at least he had found the place and knocked - sort of anyway.
Haruka wasn't sure of the cause for secrecy, especially on such a sacred occasion, but if it was a meeting bringing the Breimian priests and priestesses together then it wasn't improbable to assume that the gods must be a part of it. With his misty blue eyes narrowed in concentration at the door Haruka cleared his throat quietly before raising a front leg in order to lightly scratch at the base of the door.

Zahara|Servant(maid)
To think that three months had already come and gone since the Adolhian's had come and with them had been chaos and fire. Zahara wasn't sure if she could blame them for the destruction that had come or if something else had been at fault. This was not really something she dwelled on after all she had work to do but of course her normal routine had slowly been disturbed by the larger numbers in the temples. Being able to visit each temple every morning was something she always looked forward to. While each morning though she would be the first one there at times she never had long to sing for the gods for they always became too crowded for her. It made it hard for her to sing out loud but she would still hum softly to them. However, today was a different story a letter had come days ago with a summons to meet on today of all days. But why? She didn't have a clue. Zahara was quiet surprised when she was sent to go in the Royal families stead. Of course she was honored and knew the Royal family was quite busy.
Beginning her track to the temple on a path she knew well Zahara wondered if the news would good or bad but she prayed it would be good news. The city could truly use it. Finally arriving at the shrine Zahara found she wasn't the first to arrive. While the shape was blurry she could make out the colors of his coat. Stepping forward She moved up beside him bowing her head slightly in greeting knowing better then to speak talk. Now that she was closer she could make out a few more details of his body.

Vasko | The Driven He hadn't seen the dragons. He hadn't felt their fire or heard their great leathery wings beating the air among the tunnels into a vivid gust of terror and flame. Not Vasko. He had been home in Sterling, nose deep in some new mechanism when word had reached his ear of what had happened three months ago. It startled him, to think such creatures could cause such uproar and chaos so near his home, and these thoughts shifted through his constantly-experimenting mind as hooves carried him along a path he knew well - to Argus' Temple. Who better to pray to than the god of Arcane in a time such as this, on the Day of the Whisps? There would be others here, surely, who felt the same.
As he neared the entrance, it became apparent that other horses stood here too, waiting. Eyes full of blind stars stared blankly forward as he approached, head lowered in respect to those around him. As his feet slowed to a gentle halt around the gathering congregation, ears flicked and nostrils flared slightly, taking in the surrounding atmosphere. Curiosity began to grow in him as the quiet shufflings of Briemians he had not yet met gathered around the temple door. His eyesight was poor, but he could make out vague shapes of two others... was that the blue roan unicorn stallion priest? Vasko had heard of his blindness and had always felt a sort of connection to those who couldn't see.
What was his name? H... something? He raked his brain for any other memory of a name.
It wasn't as if he was going to speak on the Day of the Whisps, but his inability to remember a name nagged on his mind. He had never seen the other horse that occupied the space around the door. The slender bay was hard for him to decipher from the darkness around them, but he could vaguely see the shapes... Vasko became certain of more approaching hoofbeats from farther off as an ear twisted backward and a thought struck him: Why weren't they entering the temple?

Casius | Cascade's Temple Priest
The terrified screaming and angry threats still echoed within Casius' ears, despite his best efforts to wash away such fears through prayer to his God, Cascade. Three months passed and Casius had been run off his feet with so many newcomers to his temple. He had become very well practiced with his poultices and newfound blessing and many often returned for much stronger versions of his soothing concoction, which he often took himself before rest.
The mysterious note had been a welcome distraction to the hustle and bustle Casius was becoming used to. He left his temple on this sacred day in the capable hands of his mother and old mentor, they were more than experienced to handle the Breim citizens. With his mind at ease, Casius headed off toward Kaia's temple with his feline familiar in tow. He looked longingly at The Day of Wisps activities, the quiet atmosphere gave the caves an ethereal vibe which he was tempted to explore. But with a shake of his head and a questioning mew from Sebastian, Casius focused on the task ahead. He was extremely curious about the note that came to him by dove (and just scraped escape from hunting paws). He had heard rumours going about that Kaia's temple was slow going and he was eager to learn why.
He picked up his pace as green life rose up in front of him, Sebastian disappeared into the special garden off to explore its secrets. He smiled as he noticed the figures in front of him. Haruka was the easiest to recognise, being a fellow dedicated Priest. The petite bay he had certainly seen in the company of the Royal family but the last horse was not one he had seen around before. He called out gentle hello's to all present as it appeared they waited for the doors to open. He swished his tail in anticipation and quietly chuckled as his back end was drawn down with a small creatures weight. He snorted in amusement as his bengal made himself comfortable on his back. He could feel an interesting day coming about. Post 1 WC: 360

BeatriceI am unwritten Can't read my mind I'm undefined
The tiny filly nestled within the folds of the warm, heavy blanket. It was quiet, laying there in her little blanket den, It was safe. Pressed up against the familiar shape of her mother, Beatrice sighed softly. Her first few days of life, though quiet, had already felt so overwhelming to the young equine. So many new sights and sounds. Strange textures, tastes, and smells everywhere... It was a lot of the little filly to take in.
The sudden knock at the door startled Bea, causing her to burrow deeper into her blankets. The familiar darkness surrounding her, blocking out all the things she didn't understand. "Mama?" She whispered, her tiny voice wavering as she spoke. Not knowing what else to do, she slowly began rocking back and forth, in an attempt to keep herself calm. She wanted to know what the noise was, but she was afraid.
Having yet to leave the room she had been born in, Beatrice had come to believe that that was what the world consisted of, aside from the strange portal that opened and closed to let the other equine in. Her mother has called him a friend, but the little filly was still unsure of the meaning of the word. In the very least she could tell her mother felt he was safe to be around...but were there more? Were they all safe?

Judith and Donagi
There was a nervous tickle in the air, one that had washed over the stallion with every heartbeat that passed. He could not help but pace for a moment before moving toward the door in the main prayer room. From outside he could hear the soft breaths of the visitors, each of them assuredly wondering why they were here. Quietly he stood, only but a reach away, hesitant as he thought about their plan. Judith had told him over and over again it needed to be done. That they simply could not hide in Kaia's Temple forever, hidden from the herd like cowards. Sooner or later someone would come, wither it be in need of a prayer or blessing, or simply to find out why the grounds lay abandoned. No, Judith would not allow that to happen. She had given herself, her whole self, to serving the Goddess.
Flicking the anxiety off with a shake of the head, Donagi reached forward pulling the door open. He was sure his expression was somber but his worry kept him from dwelling on the details. Nodding to the guests, he motioned them inside letting his gaze come to rest on the cushions that were laid out on the floor. There was one for each of them, a small square pad used for the worshipers who stayed at lengths to pray. It was enough, as he assumed they would not need it for long.
As the last of them entered the room, the Magi threw a quick glance to the courtyard to assure no one was left. On the far side, near the gate he spotted a figure whose curious gaze met his own. He did not recognize the face as one of the Priests or Priestesses of Nariah but then again not all of them had come. Perhaps they had sent a Magi in their place? But there was not time to contemplate the matter and from afar the stallion ushered the other in as well.
Once everyone was settled, Donagi shut the door, careful not to make more than a click as the two wooden frames met upon closing. "I am sure you are all wondering why you were called here today..." his voice was gruff and quiet but still strong enough to be heard throughout the room. "But I can assure you this is a matter of great importance. One which all of you must be aware." He could feel their eye's on him now, touching his skin with curiosity and anxiety. Perhaps it was just best to show them.
"Priestess Judith will explain the rest to you, as it would be best to hear it from one of her standing. I shall retrieve her now." A simple bow released him from the room and slowly he walked back to the door the pony lay behind.
"Miss Judith," a subtle pause was given before sliding open the door. The bundle beneath the blankets had moved, meaning the baby had awakened and none too soon. "They are ready for you."
~*~
Judith heard the hoof steps as they approached, lifting her head from the bedding that cradled her tired form. She felt Bea move against her belly, snuggling closer before repeating her motion of rocking into her side. The mare smiled as her filly whispered her name, feeling all to proud of the creature that lay beside her. "Hush baby, you are safe."
"Miss Judith." She could feel her Magi's nervousness before he slid open the door, a feeling that had become all to familiar to her. "They are ready for you."
She felt a weight drop in her gut, leaning heavy against her baby's head as the child pushed closer. She needed to be strong. She was the light for many looking for her Goddess's words of wisdom, a bridge between a world none could see. Carefully she rose, allowing the blanket to slip from her shoulders and onto the floor. Bea remained covered, the shiny blue bridge of her nose all that could be seen of her. "Bea, baby, there are others here who wish to greet you." Judith wondered if it was the right thing to say, wondered if that was the only reaction the others would give to her foal. No harm would come to Beatrice, that Judith was sure of. But could she protect her from the generations of fear that engulfed her herd's minds? "We must welcome our guests into the temple, into our home."
Allowing the filly to rise to her side, Judith slowly made her way out into and down the hall, into the prayer room where the others waited. This was the moment that would make or break the history of Breim.

Judith has entered the room, followed closely by her daughter. It takes a moment for the sight to register, the child's shimmering scales catching your eye none to quickly.
The baby is a Kirin.

Haruka | Priest (Argus' Temple)
Upon being invited inside Haruka, being the first to have arrived, was also the first to enter. He gave the room a quick sweep of his eyes before he seated himself down on a chosen cushion. A gentle sigh of relief escaped his lips at finally being seated. His ears twitched as Donagi spoke, but before he allowed his mind to swarm with more questions he bid himself to be patient. Misty eyes turned towards the other horses who had been summoned along with him. He recognized the red mare from the palace, his family's home, and the bay; Casius of Cascade's shrine. But there were a few here that he had trouble recognizing.
At the sound of Judith's name the roan turned his attention back towards Donagi. The room was nearly as silent as the city outside and Haru couldn't help but feel a knot of anxiety twisting in his gut. The priestess' entrance into the prayer room brought some relief to him and he bowed his head in greeting, managing a small smile that suddenly faltered at the sight of the child at the mare's side. Haruka knew his sight wasn't the strongest and that it only worsened within each passing year, but his eyes couldn't possibly be deceiving him now. "Judith..." His soft voice broke the silence as he steadily pushed himself back up to his feet. On his face was an expression of awe that lasted only a moment before his narrowed brow transformed it into that of worry. "Please tell me that my eyes deceive me." The priest's words were whispered in order to escape the ears of the foal beside her. "That cannot be a kirin at your side." Haruka's eyes slowly widened as he perked his ears towards her. "How can this be?"
Worry grew into fear. Kirins were a creation of Ignacio, the god of fire and flame. The reason for the war that forced Breim to seek refuge beneath the surface and away from the skies. After the fires in Nariah only three months ago, what sort of mockery was this that a child, a kirin nonetheless, would be born in the midst of such a time? To Haruka, this seemed nothing less than a terrible omen.

Zahara | Servant (Maid) When the door of the temple opened Zahara bowed her head in greeting before following the Priest Haruka inside. Looking around she noticed the cushions set up for them. Pausing for a moment she wasn't sure if she should seat with the others but carefully she seated herself pointing at the cushion as a nervousness buzzed in the back of her mind. Taking a deep breath she let the familiar smells of the temple calm her and quiet the rolling Questions fighting in her head. Finally opening her eyes she heard the sound of hooves coming to enter the prayer room. It wasn't just the sound of adult hooves tiny quieter steps seemed to follow so when the door opened up Zahara stood up bowing her head in greeting with a smile. That was until her attention was grabbed by the shimmer of something beside the mare. Turning her graze to a foal. Staring at the foal trying to get her eyes to focus she wasn't sure what she was seeing at first until she heard Haruka speak. Kirin. At this word it clicked and her lips parted in awe as her eyes widened. Now she at heard stories from her mother and the family she had lived with about Kirins but she always felt it never did justice to seeing a real one. Of course fear had struck her in the back of the mind but she shoved it down as her curiosity at getting a better look to her first. Ears perked forward she looked to Judith speaking for the first time since arriving here. "May I approach Miss Judith?" Zahara asked her taking only a small step towards her but no closer without the mare's say so. She want to see the child clearly and not blurry but she knew better then to step into the space of a mother and her foal. She make herself no threatening but the curiosity that played over her eyes helped.

Vasko | The Driven Vasko had entered quietly, but was suddenly at odds with his surroundings as the temple opened before him in an unfamiliar way. This wasn't Argus' temple, but Kaia's! Realization swung and hit him squarely in the chest - what was he doing here? How had he gotten so turned around in his travels? His mind began to race as his pace slowed. Dropping his muzzle close to the floor - something he did in all new places to avoid hitting the walls or a flight of stairs - Vasko followed the murky shapes of the others as he entered. Ears pricked upward for their best use, he now cautiously raised his head from the floor as they entered a larger room. The polite click of the door's closing turned one of his ears backward as the hoofsteps approached the small group. Vasko bowed his head as they passed him, a sign of respect. "I am sure you are all wondering why you were called here today... but I can assure you this is a matter of great importance. One which all of you must be aware." The gruff voice sounded burdened with something, the same way one would expect an old storyteller sitting around a fire to begin their tale. Vasko glanced to those around him, trying to catch language cues in their stances. He could make out shapes that seemed just as curious as he was and noticed that some were resting near the ground, most likely on the mats placed in temples for some to pray. Vasko remained standing, carefully cocking a back leg and listening with patient interest in the events playing out around him. "They are ready for you."More approaching hoofbeats found Vasko's head bowed low. Somehow, he had become a part of this special meeting of Priests and Priestesses. He understood that, now. With his head low and ears up, he caught the tinkle of smaller hooves on the solid floor. A mother and a foal; they were introducing everyone to the newest member of the herd! Excitement began to bubble in Vasko's mind as the hooves drew ever nearer and then stopped. This must be an extremely special occasion, if the priests and priestesses of Breim were welcomed, he realized. But then, his joyful excitement hit a wall. "Judith... please tell me that my eyes deceive me." Vasko's head snapped upward from the bow, eyes desperately trying to see what could possibly have led to such dread. Staring blindly at blurry silhouettes, he managed to glimpse the small figure for just a moment. Light from behind hit the foal's shape and bounced off... "That cannot be a kirin at your side."He stood stock-still, unsure how to react. His mind, ever turning, froze like a gear stuck within a broken clock. Time itself seemed to hang in the silence that surrounded the small party. The silence broke with the song-like voice of the bay mare. "May I approach Miss Judith?"Vasko remembered to breath. He hadn't realized that he'd been holding it as the tension had thickened. This was a kirin, surely, but the ones he had heard of were massive, strong creatures filled with fire and bloodlust. The foal before them stood close to the mother's protecting form, as if timid. Had they scared a baby?Suddenly ashamed by his jumping to conclusions, Vasko dropped his head to the little one, gazing at them with his star-filled blind eyes and waiting for the mother - Judith was her name - to respond to the mare's question. He would welcome this foal into the herd like any other - they were a Breimian, after all. Clearly, there was something much larger happening around them, and the gods had something to do with it. Vasko trusted in Argus. He would keep them safe. Word Count: 638 Post: 2

BeatriceI am unwritten Can't read my mind I'm undefined
Beatrice winced slightly as her mother stood, the feeling of her coat brushing the wrong way sending pin pricks across her skin. It didn't feel right and was incredibly uncomfortable, sending her diving beneath the blankets once more, adjusting her fur against the thick fabric until it was righted again. Peering out from the cover, she noticed her mother urging her to stand,
"Bea, baby, there are others here who wish to greet you. We must welcome our guests into the temple, into our home." Her mother's words frightened her. Others? Who were they? Were they safe? Bea's mind raced as she ran to Judith's side, watching in terror as the portal to her world opened wide. She was supposed to go out there? She shook, softly as her mother began walking out the door, wanting to stay close but fearful of what waited beyond the little room. Humming gently, she took a few tentative steps forward, following behind Judith as she entered the prayer room.
Beatrice froze almost instantly. So many strange faces and voices in such an unfamiliar setting... It was incredibly overwhelming for the tiny filly. She huddled near her mother, slowly beginning to rock back and forth as she felt the eyes of the strangers fall on her, scrutinizing her for reasons beyond her understanding. Had she done something wrong?

Casius | Cascade's Temple Priest
The temple held a familiar vibe that all the temples seemed to. Judith had done wonders invoking Kaia into hers, the place just felt gentle and nurturing, Casius took mental notes on how he could improve his temple with similar methods. As they walked in the door, the guests placed themselves on the cushions that kindly lay out for them. The atmosphere was certainly tense, the anticipation holding everyone hostage. The Magi who had dedicated himself to Judith and who had let them in, welcomed them and spoke their thoughts aloud. "I am sure you are all wondering why you were called here today...". Casius perked his ears forward, eager to be in the know and have this mystery solved. "But I can assure you this is a matter of great importance. One which all of you must be aware." Casius felt his heart racing almost a little too quickly, no, wait, that was Sebastian's purring against his chest, oops. He could hear a quiet rustling as the Magi walked away to retrieve Judith, his mind raced with the possibilities, some crazy things had been happening in the capital recently, would this top them? Then it happened, at first his eyes didn't pick up on the difference on the newborn. Then the clicking of tiny hooves brought a beaming smile to his face, oh how he loved new life. Then a ray of sunlight flickered along the filly's back. His eyes widened and his smile got bigger. Oh how fascinating! "Wow Judith, she's gorgeous!" He cheered joyously. He almost missed the disbelief coming from Haruka's mouth. His smile faltered for a brief moment as he thought about the herd's reactions and not just the members in the room. This would certainly take some easing into, certainly after Aodh's last visit...
Zahara's request rang through his ears as he was lost in thoughts, but he was soon snapped back as his feline jumped from his company and made his way over to the kirin child. "Sebastian!" He called to his cat, hoping he wouldn't scare the tentative child. "I've never seen him react in such a way to a foal before" he told Judith warmly as Sebastian rubbed his cheeks against the foal's legs. "What's her name?" he asked curiously.

Judith | Priestess
The room was silent for a moment, breaths and faces unreadable as the guests took in the child's form. Part of the mare wanted to reach out and cover her newborn, shield her from the eye's she was all too sure were beginning to realize what the baby was. It broke her heart to think Bea may not be accepted into Breim, not even among those she held so dear to her. Her Magi had left once they had learned, fleeing out of fear of being cursed by what had always been considered Ignacio's children. The kirins had a long history of destruction among the herd and to think such imbedded thoughts could change so quickly? Well, she would be lying to herself if she thought it so.
But Kaia must have a reason...
Judith's thought solidified her weight against the temple's creaking floor; a feeling of ease blanketing the nerve she had kept hidden inside. "May I approach, Miss Judith?" Zahara's words cut through the stillness as curiosity danced across her face. There certainly seemed to be caution there, the priestess noted as she quietly nodded to the maid, but she saw no hint of hostility. Blue eye's scanned the faces of the others who were now all staring at her foal, each of them with different but similar reactions to the first. So far, the introduction felt to be going well and Judith breathed a slight sigh of relief.
She could feel Beatrice press further into her side, the foals familiar rocking motion returning as the others moved closer. Judith's brow furrowed a bit, noting her child's eye's widen with fear as Casius' familiar cat approached to rub against her leg. Judith herself had not been a skidish child; far from it. But it was not unusual for foals to be shy upon meeting the words around them. Maybe Bea only needed time...

BeatriceI am unwritten Can't read my mind I'm undefined The filly watched nervously as the strangers approached, her tiny form trembling as she rocked, humming louder to tune out the voices as she tightly shut her eyes. She didn't want to be here. She wanted to be back in her little world, all warm and cozy, just her and her mama with Donagi nearby.
A loud voice shouting a name caught Beatrice's attention and her eyes shot open as a grey blur was suddenly almost on top of her. The strange creature frightened the filly. She stood still as a statue, eyes wide as she tried to understand what was happening. Maybe the creature would just leave? Beatrice could only hope...
Instead, the cat drew closer, rubbing itself on the filly's spindly legs. It was wrong. It felt wrong. Beatrice didn't know what to do, panic setting in as the strange texture dominated her senses. She needed to make it stop to get away, but she didn't know how. Inhaling deeply, the tiny filly let out a blood curdling scream, tears streaming down her tiny cheek as she shook. Sobbing violently, she began lashing out with her tiny legs, trying to get the thing away from her as she backed away, stumbling back into her room.
Still overwhelmed, she darted under the heavy blanket, trying to drown out the world. Here, it was warm, and dark, and quiet. Here there weren't strange faces or scary creatures that were wrong. Here, it was safe...

As the child's scream rings out, it echos through the small temple and out into the wide cavern. It only takes a single moment before life begins to spring back into Breim and the day of silence is broken. While you are all still gathered inside the temple, you can tell something is very wrong outside.

Haruka | Priest (Argus' Temple)
The sudden scream from the little filly was all too much for Haruka's sensitive ears; which were accustomed to peaceful silence and the quiet sounds of temple life. He backed away almost instantly, ears turned back towards his rump as his pale indigo eyes watched the child dart back into the room she had just come from minutes before. Fear had his heart beating frantically in his chest. He didn't have enough time to see what it was that had frightened her, but Haru did know that her scream had been out of fear. Now his own had begun to subside and was instead replaced with guilt. Judith's daughter seemed like a skittish, jumpy little thing. How could he have gathered up such judgement on a young child as dear as this one?
Haruka took a few steps forward from where he had retreated. His eyes searched through the individual blurs of the other equines within the prayer room before he sorted out a brown and white blur to which he familiarized as his fellow priestess. "What has frightened her?" He asked, misty gaze traveling from Judith to the others. But as his eyes searched his attentive ears were focused on something else entirely. His ears were picking up...sound, noise from outside all of a sudden. It was no longer silent.
The priest's silver tail lashed behind him anxiously as he looked from one equine to another, his gaze favoring those whom he knew better. The silence had been broken. Haruka had been through this holiday many times in his life but never had he felt so uneasy on this sacred day. The child. Was what his mind whispered but his heart refused to hear it. "Something has happened..." it was murmured almost too quietly for anyone else to hear.

Casius | Cascade's Temple Priest
The scream propelled through the air like a spear. Casius' ears pinned back at its shrillness and Sebastian was swiftly behind him, back fur raised in fear and confusion. Guilt instantly filled the Priest as tiny hoof clicks raced back to where she knew familiar. He should not have allowed the cat to move forth without strict permission. "Oh Judith, I am so incredibly sorry! We never meant to upset the child. Would it be best if we leave?" He queried her softly. That's when his entire being picked up on it, something was off. Suddenly the murmurs from outside could be heard more distinctly and Casius felt his gut drop as he realised the day of peace had been shattered. His tail started twitching anxiously as his mind reeled with everything that could go wrong.
His thoughts flickered to his dedicated, looking after Cascade's Temple in his absence, how would they handle the situation if confused citizens flocked to them for answers. He desperately wished to poke his head out of the temple doors and assess the situation, to help as sometimes only a Priest/Priestess could. But he felt obligated to stay and right the wrong he caused in anyway he could. "Perhaps I could offer a herbal remedy to help calm the child?" He offered curiously, one ear swivelled towards the outside, not sure whether he was overstepping his mark or not. He sent a quick prayer to the Gods in hopes of the day rolling out smoothly from there. Post 3 WC: 254

Vasko | The Driven Ears flattened against the sides of his head as the shrill, terror-filled squeal of the filly shattered the silence of the world. It made his blood run cold and as icy fingers laced up through his veins, Vasko felt fear grip him suddenly. The sound of a child's scream had never really graced his ears until now, and it hit him in a way he couldn't explain. His skin crawled as a small yelp left his own lips and he tucked his head inward, lifting his topline and flattening his tail to his body; the complete movement happening almost in a single moment. Blind eyes wide with shock, he stared at what would be the floor as his ears picked up the tinkling sound of the filly's hooves as she fled at an awkward gait. Vasko let out a breath and slowly felt his body relax, lifting his head to blindly take in the small congregation. Tension hung in the air around them now, thicker than it had been before. He heard a voice to the left of himself apologize and picked up the word "We". It was then that Vasko became aware of a familiar's presence. He hadn't picked up a scent, however, and was suddenly curious at to what this mystery creature could possibly be. What would have scared a foal? He supposed it probably didn't matter much anymore now, as the deed was already done. It was then that he became aware of a different sound. One that was outside of the small bubble of discomfort that held the group. A sound from outside. "Something has happened..."
The words made his blood freeze again, as Vasko realized he wasn't the only one to hear the commotion from beyond the walls of the temple. Had the filly's yelp broken the silence on the Day of the Wisps? Word Count: 313 Posts: 3

Zahara| Servant(maid)
Having been given the okay Zahara lowered her head so that she was at eye level with the foal but as she had started to approach keeping herself from looking threatening to the young child, Zahara felt the brush of fur against her legs from the passing Familiar and froze in place. Her blue eyes looked to the foal and even though she couldn't see all to clearly yet she could see the fright in the foal. She was too late to speak when the deafening scream pierced her eardrums. Stepping back quickly flattening her ears against her skull trying to block the sound from her too sensitive ears. In the processed of getting away from the sound she had nearly back into Haruka. Just has she had opened her mouth to apologize for nearly running into him the ringing in her ears stopped and the sounds of moment outside caught her attention. It was too early for there to be sound. The silence had been broken..... "Something has happened...." Her eyes turned to Haruka when she heard him speak. An under fear sparked as she turned her eyes to the other Priests/Priestess in the room. "The silence.....Its been broken?" The question left her lips before she could stop it.

Judith | Priestess
The mares ears flattened against her head as Bea let out a blood-curdling wail, a noise so defining it threatened to pierce through her skull. But just as quickly, the cry stopped followed by the clip of hooves against the floors as her daughter turned to run back to the safety of their room. Judith moved to follow her baby, longing to comfort her cries and sooth her fear, but would it have done any good?Beatrice was still afraid of the world and consciously the Priestess wondered if it was her fault for keeping her hidden for the first week of her life. She had not been prepared to be a mother, not in the slightest. It had merely been a thought for the future, possibly a dream she would have only longed for. But now, in the chaos Breim had fallen into, it was more than a surprise it was terror.
Judith sighed, pulling back the step she had taken toward her child. A glance toward Donagi was all he needed to know what his job was and wordlessly he left the room to remain by Beatrice's side. "I am sorry," came Judith's reply to the stunned looks, pulling her gaze from the hall as the stallion disappeared. "She has always been skidish but I may have encouraged that. I was afraid to bring her out into the world, into Breim, so I hid her. She has known nothing but that room since she was born so I am sure the world is overwhelming now." She smiled polity as Casius offered his help, a remedy that may calm the foals nerves. But a mother knew, no medicine would sooth this. Only time and patience would tell if Bea would be able to overcome her fears.
Ear's perked as the others began to mention their worries about the outside and with some straining, Judith could hear the voices too. Her heart sank as Zahara spoke, her words cutting the silence and causing the Priestesses hooves to move across the room. Quickly she grabbed hold of the door, sliding it against it's worn groove only to hear the city of Nariah alive with worry. There was no wisp to be seen, no blue glow to shine against the cavern walls. They were all gone and Judith had a sneaking suspicion she knew why.
A light whistle brought a dove from a nearby tree, a red ribbon tied around it ankle to indicate its messenger status. With haste, Judith grabbed a pen and scrap paper writing uneven scribbles against the fine fibers before tying it to the birds foot. "Bring this to Priestess Yuki at once," she commanded before sending the bird off. Perhaps they would have a clearer explanation of what had happened.

Arges | Driven
When the wail shattered the air underground an icy spike drove itself up the stallion's spine. He watched in horror and desperation as the wisps that, seconds before had been dancing about his head buzzed into nothingness. Arges wanted to call out to them. He wanted to cry to the stars to bring them back. He wanted them all back. A moment passed by when a hushed panic bounced for a split second to few of the group. Confusion was most prevalent, but certain memories are hard to beat. The priestess Yuki extended an offer for them all to accompany her and Hikaru of course to the temple. An offer Arges could only accept through a bow of the head. The sacred silence was broken, but he could not yet find words to speak. Another moment, a separate one. When a dove flew down delivering with it a letter. The priestess explained she had been requested to Kaia's Temple and with that another offer to follow suit. Again, answered with a single bow of a tired head.
Arges had never formally visited Kaia's Temple and upon holding it in his gaze he scolded himself for not giving a closer look. The way over proved tiring for the young driven. He had moved about more in one day than it seemed the entire three months preceding. Arges couldn't help but smile. His close friend, Dionysus, must paint him to be a nuisance to all sentient life, what with his ramblings of advancing telescope technology and spitting equations into the air that few gave a fleeting chance of making sense. How he must appear a foil to that persona. Disheveled and tired, the driven made his way closer to the structure.

Yuki & Hikaru Well, there's two sides, to every situation Yes, there's two sides, two interpretations
"Are they...gonna come back at all? I thought I heard mother's voice..." The sadness in Breidan's voice made Yuki want to cry. The poor child had been through so much and only wanted the comfort of hearing his mother's voice one more time... It made the priestess's heart ache for the young uncut. "I don't wanna stay here. Yuki...Hikaru, can we go some'wer' else now?" His tiny voice piped up again and the mare nodded. "Of course sweetie, we're going to head back to the Temple...We're going to go-" She stopped abruptly as a small white dove approached, delivering a message to the Priestess.
The mare quickly unrolled the note, unable to make out most of what was written. All she could make out was a request from Judith to come to Kaia's shrine. Glancing over at her brother and back to the note, she inhaled deeply, looking about the faces around her. "Priestess Judith has requested our presence at Kaia's shrine. I do not know why, though I imagine she also has questions and possibly even some answers about what has happened here." She paused briefly, flicking her ears back slightly. "I would ask you all to accompany me, as I still do not know the cause of this incident, and while I would like to believe that we are not in any immediate danger, there is a certain safety to be found in numbers." She nodded slightly, looking to her brother for his support.
Before setting out towards Kaia's shrine, Yuki bent low, nuzzling Breidan momentarily. "We are going to leave now, ok sweetie?" She said gently, hoping that leaving this place would brighten the foal's spirit a bit. "Stay close. I promise, we will keep you safe no matter what." Yuki pressed her muzzle to Breidan's forehead as she stepped off to head to the place she had been summoned.
Hikaru walked with his head low, keeping an eye on the foal who had become part of his family. It hurt him to see the little colt who was usually so lively, looking this down. He wanted to help, to do something that would ease his nephew's suffering, but he didn't know what.... He'd never been really good with children, and as much as he loved Breidan, it didn't change that fact. So instead, he said nothing. He just kept his head low in case Breidan needed something and made sure the foal knew that he was there and was actively paying attention to him and he needs.
The duo finally arrived at Kaia's shrine, and Yuki quickly whispered a prayer to the goddess as she walked inside. Looking about the room, she saw many faces, some familiar, others not as much, though they all had the same look of concern painted onto them. "Judith?" She asked as she approached the mare. "What is it? Your note seemed urgent." Her voice was even as she spoke, though her concern over what was happening seemed to grow with each passing moment. She wanted to ask about the wisps, but she figured it would be best to let Judith explain first, after all, it was she who had summoned Yuki, not the other way around.
Hikaru stood silently, as he often did in these situations. An invisible force that heard all and never contributed unless directly asked. Instead of focussing on Judith and his sister, he found his thoughts preoccupied with Breidan. How was the young colt handling all of this? Did he need anything? Did he have questions? Hikaru ruffled Breidan's mane reassuringly, hoping that the simple gesture would provide even a tiny bit of comfort in these confusing times.

B R E I D A N "Being brave is all about being scared. You just keep on going despite it." __ __ __ __ Slowly, the colt's ears, which had been perked with the slightest bit of hope, flattened as his question went unanswered. Was that it? Did that mean he'd wait another year just to get the chance of hearing his fallen family? All because someone screamed? He grew a little bitter at the thought, but it didn't at all overwhelm the sense of uncertainty and worry he and the horses had been feeling in the air. Someone had still screamed, and it had to be serious for it to take place on a day meant for silence, right?
Right?
With the aching in his heart, Breidan had a sudden craving for a snack to eat away the butterflies restlessly fluttering in his stomach. Food always cheered the colt up, no matter what the cause of sadness. A hot drink also sounded good right about now as well. Briefly, he situated his thoughts on those necessities rather than the matter at hand, momentarily blissful.
"There's a bird!" He chirped. Breidan's black, fluffy plumage ruffled on his back. "What're you doin here...?" Yet again childish, blissful thoughts rushed into his mind. He wanted pet that bird. Dove feathers were always so soft!
As his adoptive mother explained the note aloud, Breidan felt his heart sink. He didn't want to go to Kaia's Temple--he wanted to be in theirs! Even as courageous as he was, he was still rather unsettled by that strange scream--the roan colt held back the urge to whine, feathered form shrinking slightly. "I dunno about this..." He winced back. "I hope nothin' bad happened to someone..."
__________________________________________ Yet despite his uncertainty, the colt willingly followed, too stubborn and courageous to leave Yuki and Hikaru's side. If anything bad happened, or would happen, then he had to be there. He had to be there to help. He had to be there to help keep his family safe. Quite a mighty and probably unrealistic task for a colt his age to fulfill, but Breidan believed he could do it. Every so often he exchanged glances between his adoptive family, making sure not to tread far behind.
Then the thoughts of what had transpired earlier mingled in his mind again. If that was his family who tried to speak to him, what did they have to say? Was there something important they meant to tell him? Oh, how he eager he was to hear his father's tales! But the ten year-old kept his gaze fixated on the soil, and brushed his shoulder against the forelegs of his mother and uncle, seeking comfort and quiet console.
By the time they had reached Kaia's Temple, Breidan was inbetween Yuki and Hikaru's forelegs again, with his energy and curiosity seemingly restored by the way his head poked out from their shadow. His head canted to one side, and then the other, examining the other horses alongside the Priestess Judith from the safety of their adoptive family. "Whoa...I've never seen this place before..." He whispered quietly.
The little roan pegasus colt made brief eye contact with Judith before bowing his head. Though he struggled to keep himself from looking at her, his big blue eyes were filled to the brim with anxiety, curiosity, and excitement all the same. Thankfully, uncle Hikaru provided a distraction; he felt the stallion ruffle his mane and feathers, and for the first time in what seemed like hours, the colt broke into a giggle, and reared onto his back legs for a second.
Despite all the commotion, the affectionate gestures from Yuki and Hikaru alone had quickly restored his enthusiasm.

Nefertiti | Echo |Breim
Nefertiti followed close to the priestess, now on her side as she had spun to head back towards the temple. A small sigh of disappointment escaped her lips as they marched slowly, lost in her thoughts as she was awash with a mixture of worry and anger. Whatever had happened, she just hoped everyone was okay.
The fluttering of wings brought her peridot gaze up again from the ground. A white dove had flown down to Yuki and Hikaru, who seemed just as surprised as she at it's presence. Who had sent it? Did it have anything to do with the scream?
Listening to the Priestess announce the letter's contents, Nefertiti's ears perked up fully. She had not visited Kaia's Shrine since her father's death, as he was it's priest for a long time. As a result, she had not spoken to Kaia either, as much as she probably should of, something her father would be upset about for sure. Now filled with curiosity, she silently nodded to the offer to follow them there. Perhaps the earth goddess and her Priestess would have the answers they needed?
Though the day of silence was over, the walk over to the shrine wasn't very talkative. Perhaps out of habit? As they all had years if not decades of practice to refine their muteness.
Her eyes looked up at the shrine, it's familiar feel of a second home now gone as she knew her father wouldn't be there waiting for her like he had years and years ago.
Pausing for a moment at the steps, she took in a deep breath before walking on to follow the others, giving a soft, well-rehearsed prayer for Kaia. Though she was a Echo now, her roots were in the shrines as a magi, and she would never forget them.
Stepping into the shrine she looked around at the faces of the Priests and Priestesses present. She knew most there, either by her own encounters or just seeing them around the herd, but there was a strange air here. Her eye's wondered around the faces, her own showing confusion and concern.
What was going on?

Haruka | Priest (Argus' Temple)
Despite trying to keep his concerns and fears from growing, Haruka's skin prickled with anxiety as he turned his head and angled his ears towards the sound of approaching hoof steps. He blinked his eyes harshly for a few short moments, hoping to clear his sight in order to try and see who it was specifically that had come to join them at the earth goddess' sacred temple. The first faces he recognized were that of Yuki and her brother Hikaru, and they were faces he knew well. They tended to Argus' temple here in the city and he frequented the site during his monthly visits. But following behind them were two individuals the priest had never seen before, although the blurred shape of a small form with wings caught his momentary curiosity. Another child. Perhaps it could be a way to coax Judith's frightened daughter from the sanctuary of that little room if she was introduced to someone roughly her size.
Haruka took a deep breath, tail swishing behind him and brushing against his lifted hind leg as he reminded himself to bow politely to the newcomers. "Priestess Yuki, Hikaru." He addressed them in his usual soft tone of voice before he turned to both the blue coated child and the mare. "A warm welcome to you both as well." Although he meant well by the greeting his worry was hinted in his tone. "I hope you bring news of what has happened outside." Misty blue eyes searched the new faces as he silently hoped that they would get some answers of what was possibly going on. A vast number of thoughts had begun to occupy the priest's mind and he swore it would only drive him mad if he was kept more in the dark.
He turned away from the others with a bowed head as he murmured a prayer, a silent plea that whatever was happening could hopefully be settled peacefully. The blaze that wrecked the city, although three months ago, was still fresh in his mind. Haruka would never forget the sight of those flames. The gods weren't surely punishing them were they? Of all the souls in Hireath, why his people? Why Breim? Slowly he returned to the others, turning his head and opening his eyes again as he tried to find focus on a familiar shape.

Cecillia | Royal family
Cecillia had started walking towards the priestess already when more of the conversation reached her ears and she stopped. A dove? She shuffled her hooves a bit, growing hopeful as the priestess announced them needing to come to another temple. Or well, the priestess needed to come and she was inviting them really. She shuffled after them as fast as she could, Aiko mindfull to guide her and not afraid to give a dissapproving to whomever dared not be carefull when coming too close to the cream unicorn. Cecillia's heart beat fast, remembering that it was Kaia's temple that priestess Judith resided in. It was the earth goddess who had blessed her. The effects were a little less impressive than she anticipated, but she was still gratefull. She hoped she would grow to master it like Sir Ozzer did. He had been able to sense the horses even though he could not see them at the time either.
She spent her time anticipating that the earth priestess would have answers, but was sadly disappointed as she heard they were expecting news from outside. She quickly placed the voice, nerves cracking at it's familiarity and her mouth opening to let out a waterfall of words: "Cousin 'Ru!" she called, moving to stand her trembling body in front of him. "There was a really loud noise, l-like something screamed and it was a scary scream and they said the wisps went away but I couldn't tell and something felt bad but I don't know what? Did Argus tell you anything? Is he mad? Is Kaia mad? They made the stone fall twice. I tried to be nice to them. I really did! Why are they angry?" Her rambling came to a halt, the filly breathing heavily and tears clinging to her eyes. She always had looked to her elders for guidance. If she had questions, they answered. If she needed guidance, they led. If she was scare, they soothed. But it seemed now they themselves had no answers and were lost about the situation. What was she supossed to do then?

Casius | Cascade's Temple Priest
Casius nodded reassuringly as Judith voiced her parenting fears. "No one can blame you for hiding such a unique foal away from Breim in these uneasy times." He promised her. His gut churned as others voiced their concern of the outside noise. He hoped the nervous cave herd would be able to handle such an odd and disconcerting circumstance after their chain of bad luck.
Just as he was thinking his worries, Judith summoned her dove and sent it off with another note, to one of their fellow Priestess'. Shortly after Yuki and her brother arrived, a small group in tow. He smiled warmly at some familiar faces. The young colt piqued his interest, how would a youngster react to a small KIrin child, surely being adopted in the temple the lad had heard the tales and Casius became intrigued. Would Judith introduce the child to such strangers who had lived the Aodh devastation? "How is the herd coping after such a turn in today's event?" Casius asked gently to the newcomers before the young royal burst out in questions. "I'm sure we'll have answers soon enough, the Gods won't leave us in such turmoil." He addressed the group around him, attempting to put their minds at ease as well as his own, he sent another small prayer to his god in assurance. Post 4 WC: 230

Vasko | The Driven As more Breimians entered the temple, Vasko backed from the gathering crowd, uneasy about the slowly diminishing space left to him. He didn't mean to be reclusive, of course, but rather to stand near something familiar... a wall, for instance. He backed his hindquarters to it quietly, using its solidity to reform his shattered confidence. There were murmurs through- out the temple now, and he was certain the Silence was shattered. Was there any chance of reviving it? What would this mean for the rest of Breim? His own plans for the day were broken the moment he visited the wrong temple, he knew, but could news of a kirin born to a natural mare affect the future of the sacred day?
Shapes caught through his murky vision piqued his curiosity. The unique shape of the priest and priestess siblings, along with a what appeared to be a pegasus foal. Vasko knew he wasn't the first to immediately consider the possibilities of allowing the youngster to help calm the nervous filly that hid in some other room. He bowed his head as multiple sets of hoofbeats passed him. There was no way the newcomers had any idea as to what was going on more than he did, surely.
Still unsure to use his own voice, even among the quiet murmurs that now carried through the temple, Vasko remained with his tail against the wall and head bowed, soft in his poll and nose almost to the floor. There were times when his blind eyes had been a startling sight, and he hoped to blend in as much as possible, now. The last thing anyone needed was another jump in such a tense situation. A uneasy mixture of worry and curiosity hung in the air of the temple, but the only way to know what would unfold next was to watch and wait. Word Count: 318 Post: 4
