Kiger
The snow got deeper as the group began the trek into the woods, taking care to mostly go around the tracks in order to preserve them as much as possible. Kiger loosely kept up with the limping mare, or at least, she was keeping up until the group came across a moving mountain and Greer just had to attract its attention. Then it turned out to be an extremely old and raggedy stallion covered in over a trillion scars, who swore like worse than a sailor and seemed absolutely ancient... To say he kinda stunk would be a bit of an understatement, but Kiger was personally more than eager to pretend like this was something a horse saw on a daily basis. Totally normal! Nothing to worry about! Haha! Can we just...not...? No? Okay...
She slowed down a bit and fanned out slightly as the group stopped to appraise the huge brute. He already seemed like he was not too keen on meeting them before he even showed his teeth, which was the only thing she probably agreed with him on. Then pretty medic came up alongside her and generally introduced herself as Nimerah.
"Ooh! Your name is so pretty," she replied while keeping an eye on the big smelly stallion ahead. Seemed like he and Greer were exchanging...less than pleasant things. She flattened her ears slightly when he started snapping back. While she wasn't really close enough to smell the worst of him, the giant flies were much more adventurous. She huffed aggressively at the nearest one to direct it back the way it came.
"So...is he coming or not?" she whispered aloud.

Emerin >|Stationary Merchant|<
A small giggle escaped from Emerin's throat and she came to the side of the other mare of the group. Just on the other side of Greer. She handed a small sack to her full of medical drinkable herbs. Maybe the medic could help her with her pain in her leg. She then turned her attention to the stallion who rudely spat out. It was typical honestly. Most stallions acted this way of course, two of her family members were stallions who acted out in this manner. Their dumb asses don't realize how important mares really are to them and this herd. "Greer is right. Come along or sit your happy ass down and stay put." She spat out. She knew it would hold consequences for her but she never put up with her brother's foul attitude and she surely wasn't gonna put up with his. She would rather die than be seen as a stereotypical mare. Oh by the gods did she hate that... Emerin paused hoping she didn't come off too rude to make new friends. She just could not put up with that attitude by a stallion, deep down she lives to prove others wrong. Yes she was still young, maybe the youngest in the group but she had a good head on her shoulders. by all means she has her own business at a young age and runs it just as well as everyone else.

Killian | War-Forged Merchant | Male Killian, who was close to the front with Judiah, squinted through the trees as a lumbering figure came into view in the distance. The hulking figure, with their marred appearance and gnarly scent, caused Killian to pause enough in his steps for Judiah to step ahead and make the first move.
Killi wasn't surprised when the argumentative mares broke into conflict again, now with a horse that looked able to smash their faces into the snow with one hoof. Damn, they were dense. Especially when one of them (who was being equally sassy) had a painfully obvious limp. This neanderthal in front of them wouldn't take to kindly to wussy mares telling what.
"Whoah whoah whoah!"
Killian stepped forward, standing in front of the rather aggressive mares. "With all due respect... um... friend," Killian forced the word out, blinking the flies from his face, "I doubt anything will deter this group from following the marks anyway. Here's my proposition." The small, sauve stallion hoped that his years of smooth talking tougher stallion would pay off here. And he hoped this stallion was a stupid as he looked.
"We tag along with you, if only to appease the mares' curiosity. When, or even if we find whatever made these, we help you off them, and you can keep the spoils. I'll tell you what; I make skins back in Skeldr. I'll even through in a free tanning for you for your trouble. You don't even have to walk with us, hell, pretend we're not here. You seem like a reasonable guy."

Killiah WF | Travelling Merchant 'Just a warning Killiah can be offensive sometimes! It's not me just her so please don't get offended by what she says, i have no grudge against anyone ^^ all offence is to the characters not you personally okay!'
In all Killiah's dissapointed the brindle mare moved to get away from her, making her cock an eyebrow as those dark hips swayed with her steps. It was a nice view of course, and as such she hadn't even realized how far she had gone; in all unpleasantness she found herself running into someone's behind, now noticing the group had stopped... what now?. Pushing her way to the front she came face to face with the problem, a great hulking, smelly mass of a stallion stood in their path and she'd have nothing of it, "In Kaia's wake!" She hissed, "First we bring shorty along then miss limp over here... now we have to bring Grampa too?, what's next does buttercup and baby want to come too?", the bay mare huffed at them all, purterbed by the freakshow she seemed to have joined
"Im traveling with brindle, roany, smokey, Chestnut and flowers..." she stated, motioning to Nimerah, Emerin, Kiger, Marea and Judiah in turn, "I dont want to deal with gramps as well, lets just leave it and move on okay? Not sure why we stopped in the first place...", she gave each of them a look as she flicked her ears back, they'd be pissed off for sure but that didn't matter, she had to prove them all wrong since they were wolf tracks and standing around wasn't going to help in the least, "Alon-sy!" (It means 'Let's go' in french xD)

Of all the impudent…! Faust’s marred face darkened as he took two massive steps towards the group, specifically towards the two daft mares who dared to confront him directly. If they weren’t aware of his size and stench before, they surely were now that he was towering over them. They were in the Titan’s shadow now and that was not a place someone wanted to get caught in. Many had died in the shadow, overcome by the legendary raider’s presence before they met their end by hoof, ax, or horn.
His chest heaved as he bided his anger in the face of Greer. “If you knew who I was you’d know to hold your tongue around me.” The words dripped out of him like venom through clenched teeth. Then he turned to get in the face of the young mare, Emerin. “And no BITCH tells me what to do. Especially one so fresh off it’s mother’s teat!”
"Whoah whoah whoah!"
The little pig of a horse broke out from the group to intervene and Faust momentarily retreated, swayed by the stubby pegasus’s words of a proposition. Faust was somewhat impressed that it was he who came forward, since he half expected it would be the dark stallion to step in first. He listened to the proposal and although he did not care for the overly cordial speech, the idea of a well crafted hide pleased him. Amused, he gave out a low hum and cracked a smile in the pegasus's direction.
“So you like to play with dead things merchant? I as well. I’m pretty good at it too. Made my necklace here all by myself.” He lifted his chin, exposing his neck and the string of charred bone draped around it. It was perhaps the one obvious clue to who he was or used to be. He eyed Killian for any sense of recognition. “You know what kind of bone this is don't you? I'll tell you what; You make me a hide, and I'll make sure none of you turn into my next necklace.” He turned back to Greer and Emerin who were still right in front of him, “And if either of you try that tone with me again, I’ll gut you and use your bodies for bait.”
And with that he turned away from all of them to follow the prints. His nose to the ground to track the beast and his ears pinned back to track the horses behind him in case they got any big ideas. He huffed in annoyance as he listened to the large painted mare complain. “…now we have to bring Grampa too?”
Doesn't anyone fucking know how to respect their elders anymore?
"And that goes for you too! I ain't your Grampa!"
Damn cow.

Rolling his eyes at the antics going on around him, Judiah shook his head and looked at the old haggard stallion, eyebrows furrowed. He was about to speak when suddenly the stallion started going off one everyone. Taken back, Judiah looked to Nim and then back to the old man "Listen, You can try and push us away all you want but you're not the only one who's interested in this damn beast." he scoffed, Shaking his head and moving past him "Now if you'll excuse me." It wasn't the first time he had dealt with a rude old man from War-Forged. Gods, why did they have to run into him! All the stallions in the damned herd were the same, it was either you were a big, strong muscle horse with testicles that hung to the floor or you were nothing at all.
With his usually pleasant mood soured, Judiah continued to move forward through the snow, slowly forgetting about the arguing stallions behind him. He was now wishing that he could have gone alone, just himself and the woods and whatever...beast lay inside them. On second thought, maybe it was good that there were others. Poor creature will probably turn tail and run once it gets a whiff of that old stallion. Chuckling to himself, Judiah shook his head, his anger slowly fading. I mean, that is if it isn't scared away by all the racket that those behind him were making. Again, Judiah laughed softly under his breath. Oh Kaia, this was going to be some adventure wasn't it

Greer | Stationary merchant (rank change pending)
Greer didn't back off when that beast of a horse got in her face. She only hardened her stare and puffed out her own chest despite the twinge of pain in her shoulder. "I didn't hold my tongue around Bloody flank when they came back and attacked one of OUR people, and I'm sure not going to hold my tongue about some old man who has been alive so long he forgot his fucking manners!" She huffed, a cloud of steam leaving her nostrils. When that short little stallion came bowling through she took a step back, giving him room to talk. Greer was distracted, staring down the mammoth with her eyes. If looks could kill.
Finally Greer came back to earth as he shouted at her to not use that tone with him. "Don't tell me what to do." She mumbled just loud enough for him to hear as she focused on adjusting the bandages that had slightly loosened on her shoulder. Then she noticed the group was about to move on, grandpa in the lead. She hadn't even heard the draft mares insults she had been so angered. Despite the burning sensation in her shoulder she half cantered up the trail until she was side by side with Faust. No way was she about to back down. "Well, since you so dead set on finding this thing as we are, what have you picked up on?" She asked, her eyes studying each print as if it might hold a new clue as to what had left them.

Killian | War-Forged Merchant | Male
Killian tried to hold back a grimace when Faust smiled down at him, almost like how a wolf would smile at a trapped rabbit. Only this wolf also had breath to match the smell of a rear-end and muscles that, despite being worn by age, could very easily break Killian's wings like chicken bones. So Killian decided it was safest only to nod in agreement when Faust began making changes to the proposed deal.
Golden eyes flicked downward curiously as Faust mentioned his 'taxidermy' necklace. Killian wasn't sure what he'd been expecting, but he knew quite well what kind of bones were laced around the killer's neck. Killian had been a teen at the time that the Bone Crushers and the Bloody Flanks had invaded Skeldr town and slayed Garok, the only other War Lord besides Hira who'd ever existed in his lifetime. They were a notorious and violent clan that had existed despite the Stone Hoof's attempt at unification. Killian and his mother had fled the town when the invasion started, but Killian didn't doubt that this horse standing mere inches away had been there, gutting and consuming the shields and raiders who would have dared stand before him. Killi had figured all of the Bone Crushers dead and gone. But I mean, supposedly dead clans were making a habit of turning up in Skeldr recently, weren't they?
The merchant let out a nervous puff of air as Faust turned and began heading forward... which he quickly sucked in when the fucking mares started bitching again. Killian felt his feathers fluff in rage, because at their stupidity, ungratefulness (I mean, Killian had just made a deal with a murderer to save their hides, yet they were still trying to piss this guy off?), and Killiah's mention of his height. Totally not necessary right now. He turned to give her a murderous look. He'd be sure to look for something to loot off her later.
Focusing back on the problem at hand, the pegasus whipped around, looking at all the larger horses as he tried to read their faces. No one seemed fazed. No one seemed to get it. Sure this guy was old and crotchety but a killer all the same. A killer who hated the Stone Hoofs, Hira and probably all of organised War Forged. And here Killian had just expected to run into some old fart raider. This was far worse. And now he couldn't back out of this stupid little hunt, lest the Bone Crusher break their deal. Or worse, come find Killian after he killed all these pains-the-asses and take his hide. He desperately tried to catch Kiger and Nim's eyes, hoping that maybe they had enough sense to read the concern on his face. After all, those two had managed to keep their fat mouths shut, unlike the rest of them.
Greer looked tiny as she strode up to walk beside Faust, who had yet to give his name. Killian tensed physically. Before anything more could transpire, he beat his tiny legs and wings and came up next to her. "Mind if I interrupt you there for a second, Greer? I don't think you realize it, but you're dealing with a professional..." Professional annoying-mare-slayer. "I think you should let him do his thing; I want to talk to you about something else," Killian said, indicating with a hand like wing to slow down, fall back. The last thing Killian wanted was Greer brining up this guys old buddies, the Bloody Flanks. His eyebrows raised dangerously high, praying to Alya, Kaia, anyone, that this moron was at least smart enough to read social cues.
(Also Killian hasn't introduced himself yet but he probably won't remember to by this point so someone's gonna have to ask for his name if they want it. *shrugs fo daaayys*)

Nimerah WF | Medic Nimerah's face turned into a cringe as she heard the already gruffy mares fall out to the beast before them. She was sure this could not end well. Perhaps she shouldn't have come along after all, if bickering was the main course of the event. She looked back, behind the group, following their snow made trail back towards town with her eyes. She could still turn back now... and spend her day in the library. She looked ahead again with a frown. No, this was the first real 'fun activity' she had done so far since she got here. It would be a good chance to get to know some of the locals. Though, as she looked over the bickering group, and flattened her ears at the horrid words that were being used, she wasn't sure if these were the kind of equine she wanted to be associated with...
The young mare shared the eye contact with Judiah, a hint of worry in her eyes. But he was quick and curt with the old stallion, and started to move ahead. Nimerah followed suit, holding her breath while they passed the dangerous looking fluff monster. Nim's bright green eyes suddenly caught sight of the horse jaw bone around the stallion's neck, during her stride. They widened with worry, as alarm bells rang in the back of her mind. Either this guy had a very macab fashion sense, or he'd been living out in the woods for a reason. She decided both could be possible too, when she just caught the worried gaze of the smaller stallion, who had made a good and calming deal with the brute. He'd seemed to be able to interpret the situation better then most.
The whole group started to get into motion, and Nim slowed her stride to let the giant pass her by and get ahead, his scars and other jewelry seeming more obscene now. The sooty mare made her way to the side of Judiah, and finally let go of the breath she'd been holding. "Ehm... Judiah? Does this seem save?" She asked with a whispered tone. The mare worriedly looked around her, and hushed her voice more. "I don't like the look of this guy, and I don't mean just his looks." She said, her words carved from pure worry and suspicion. "What if he's some crazy killer?" Murders had seemed to be a vibrant topic at the moment, as it seemed some took place not long before Nim entered town. She had jet to find out the details, but it surely gave chills down her spine, now that they met this guy. He'd sure seem to fit the bill of a dangerous killer...

Kiger
Okay, okay...whatever the fuck starts happening next, Kiger...DO. NOT. OPEN. YOUR. MOUTH.
She should've expected the old stallion to blow up--well, she WAS--but like--more? Well-- mother faCK they were most likely very definitely about to get beaten to a pulp in the middle of the woods right about now. Unfortunately for her, Kiger felt his explosive anger right along with a blast of his bad breath, and could barely keep from turning tail and running back for town as fast as she could (screaming, at that). As it was, she could barely keep herself from cowering like a newborn foal when he loomed threateningly over Greer and Emerin. Gods, oh gods, they've really done it now, she thought. Then, Don't move, don't run, don't let him know you're scared--well, he probably knows. Oh gods.
When Nimerah started following Judiah again, Kiger tried until she realized her knees were completely locked--but it didn't matter, because the idea came as fleetingly as it went, so she didn't dare move an inch. She met the eyes of the pegasus without bothering to hide the panic in hers. Hello you just made a deal with the devil a monster? The fack?!!! The elderly beast seemed to be a bit calmer at his offer, though, and then invited...she couldn't figure out if it was specifically just him or the group at large, but they were more or less invited to take look at his necklace. Well, okay, that seems normal--no, no it's not. Bones were common in War-Forged jewelry, yes...but not like... horse bones...anymore...right? It seemed like a million years before the group finally started moving off to catch up with Judiah. Thankfully, that meant no one was paying much attention to Kiger tripping and then breaking into an awkwardly quick trot to catch up again. She couldn't stop thinking about those blackened bones. Wish you told me a bit more about where we actually lived instead of how we lived, she mentally thought to her mother. Haha, as if the missing horse was still around...pfft. "Get real, girl," she whispered to herself. "Keep up. Don't get eaten. Yet." Post 5; 360 words OOC: Well that was intense o.0

Judiah shook his head as he heard the various voices of the horses behind, bickering or plotting or whatever they were saying. He didn't pay much heed to their words, honestly. When Nim brushed up beside him, Judiah tore away from his thoughts and turned his head slightly to look at her while she spoke, a small smile on his face. When she finished, he nodded his head, his flowers rustling softly, and let out a deep sigh "I know I know, I really don't like him either but...I don't know, maybe there are enough of us that if he did go crazy we could hanle him... I mean, he is pretty old looking," he spoke with a low tone, head bent towards Nim "Or maybe whatever we find in the woods will go after the biggest target...if it doesn't mind the smell!" he finished with a laugh, raising his eyebrows.
Glancing back at the trailing group behind them, Judiah couldn't help but laugh softly at what a band of misfits they were. He was sure the gods were getting a good chuckle out of this. Turning his head back, he looked forward at the old scruffy giant. Boy was Nim right...he seemed so...off. He really hoped he wasn't some wacko axe wielding murder. Shuddering, Judiah tried to hold his head up higher and appear calmer. Taking in a deep smell, Judiah did his best to discern the stallions smell from the one they were following. It seemed to be getting stronger? Judiah couldn't really be sure, he hadn't always been good at following trails.

Killiah WF | Travelling Merchant 'Just a warning Killiah can be offensive sometimes! It's not me just her so please don't get offended by what she says, i have no grudge against anyone ^^ all offence is to the characters not you personally okay!'
The large mare simply sneared as Faust threatened them, his darks words only making her brow narrow in annoyance at him, even when he flashed the charred horse bones under his chin she couldn't loose the bored look that appeared on her face, "you dont scare me old man" she bit back, flicking her tail in annoyance. It was too bad he'd moved along the trail now after shortys offer otherwise he would have heard her next comment, "Maybe have a bath... and a breath mint"
The words had barely come out of her mouth before the others started to follow the Judiah and the huge brute, how quickly they brushed of an argument was beyond her understanding but never the less the lifted her head and started forward, only stopping again at the side of a very petrified looking mare awkwardly trotting after the group, her knees now moving after being stuck in place. Poor thing, gramps must of scared her something shocking, "Come on lass", twisting her hips Killiah gave the smaller mare a hard nudge with her flank pushing her forward a little quicker in hopes she'd gain a ittle courage, "He's not so scary", a small grin twisted her lips as she threw her polar bear skin over Kiger's back, "Stick with me gorgeous and he wont give you any trouble alright?"
Hitting on someone in such a situation wasnt the best of moves, but she'd made it so it was warming to calm the other mare down, even going as far to share her skins with the poor girl. She was a little in over her head following the group after such a scare but with Killiah trotting alongside her after the others perhaps she'd feel a little better?

Marea Mare / Traveling Merchant / War-Forged
Marea turned up her nose at the newest addition to their search party. If her herd mates had any sense they'd stop baiting this old behemoth. She didn't agree with a thing that came out of his ancient mouth except for his claim that he could slay whatever beast had made these tracks. If Marea was wrong, and this whole track business wasn't a trick, then she had no desire to go hoof to hoof with whatever creature made them, at least not without all the help they could get. Besides, if this old coot's claimed skill at battle failed him, a large, pungent decoy wouldn't hurt either. He could rattle all the bones he wanted as far as Marea was concerned, so long as his fearsome reputation wasn't all talk if and when it came to action.
On the topic of battle, Marea wasn't so sure their group had the best outlook. Sure, they had a good number of each other to rely on, but out of that number they had one pony who barely reached Marea's knee, an injured merchant, and a bootlegger hermit from the mountains. The other horses looked in good enough health, but how many of them had any combat skill? As far as she could tell, they were all merchants, except Nimerah, who Marea remembered was a Medic. She resisted the urge to sigh. The quicker they found the source of these prints, the better. If they kept going at the rate they were, Faust would have stomped half their party to death before the creature or trickster behind the prints would ever have a chance to. Marea could understand Greer and the other mares' exasperation, but she could not fathom where their sense of self-preservation may have gone. Not wanting to fuel the growing fire further, she chose to remain silent. For now.

COUGH COUGH The dark, blood red stallion's breathing was raspy and forced, lungs that haven't been used in ages were suddenly up and running. Air struggled to find its way down and out of them. Peach cloven hooves sunk into the soft white snow with each step as he made his way down the mountain's base and to the thick forest, away from Skeldr Town. For whatever reason, his instinct was telling him the further away from living and sentient beings, the better off he would be. He would be a fool not to oblige the deep feeling that instructed every living being. His joints creaked and his muscles ached, moving was almost a chore, but with every step it become the smallest fraction easier, his muscles were warming up and tendons were stretching. The stallion shook his head and consequently the crown of antlers around his head; the small spattering of gold, armor-like scales on his neck were dull in the warm sunlight. The kirin's rusty frame combined with the struggle of gravity pulling him down the mountainside caused him to stumble a few strides. For a brief second his ancient heart pounded in fear as air ceased to escape his body. In front of him stood a somewhat large group of equines: horse, unicorn, and pegasus all mixed together. Just as soon as he appeared in the clearing before them he was gone, bolting through the trees with orange hair whipping behind him.

Greer | Stationary Merchant (rank change pending)
Greer walked alongside Judiah, her ears pricked forward for any sounds the forest had to offer. She tuned out those around her and speculated on what the creature could be. She didn't think it was a wolf, that seemed too simple. The tracks certainly weren't bear tracks. Those claw marks in the tree however, had her puzzled. They seemed fresh so they may have come from whatever left the tracks but there were too many possibilities. But that smell. It hung in the air like a scream in the middle of winter. Still, Greer kept on, trudging through the thick layer of snow despite the growing pain of her limp. What was a few more months of recovery anyways. She followed the tracks with everyone else, her nose closed to the ground but her eyes gazing out across the earth that stretched infront of them.
She finally a splash of red entered her field of vision and she lifted her head to gaze upon the most strange equine she had ever seen. Cloven hooves, a long lion-like tail, massive antlers....and scales. She was at a loss for words as she stared at the figure and he disappeared into the woods as quickly as he had appeared. His antlers stayed in her head. Perhaps those....claw marks on the tree weren't claw marks at all. Finally she broke herself from the trance the mysterious figure had put her in and she took a limping step forward, her eyes watering. "What...who...was that?" She asked, frantically looking at the tracks he had left. "These tracks, we have to follow them." She said, nodding her head. She took a few tentative steps in the direction the...horse had taken. Her walk turned into a trot and then into a canter, her adrenaline and surprise blocking out the pain she had been feeling their entire journey although it was sure to return.
"Come on, it...they...whatever it was couldn't have gotten far." She said with a nod, keeping a sharp eye on the new tracks as she headed off into the woods weather they would follow her after the creature or not. Her brain was pounding with all kinds of emotion. Confusion, fear, and excitement. She glanced over her shoulder to see if anyone was behind her, hoping she might not be alone.

Nimerah WF | Medic The sooty mare kept her worried gaze as she listened to Judiah's words, but couldn't help but let a small, breathy, laugh slip at his joke. Then again, he made it all seem so nice and easy. She looked ahead and watched the grey brute up front. What if he was a danger? What if he was leading them into a trap right now? A dark cave came into the few of her mind, with images of crazy cannibalism and fire. Nimerah shook the thoughts out of her head. 'Get it together, girl! Don't think such freaky things!' She nearly spooked herself with the freaky fantasies. They were following the trail! Not walking into a trap! But, in the end, she couldn't help but keep her guard up, her ears swiveling about, and her body in some sort of strict form, ready to jump into action, like a coil spring.
In any case, Nimerah was glad the group was moving again. And quiet it seemed, apart from the soft chit-chat among themselves. At least no more aggressive squabbling. Suddenly, her heart jumped as a figure stumbled into the open clearing in front of them. She couldn't really see what it was, but the sound alone had her heart pounding. She could only catch a glimpse of the rather large... deer? as it rushed from the scene. Nim froze. Was that it? The creature that made the tracks? She could tell it wasn't in fact a deer, but it did had antlers, odd... red ones.
Soon the mare, Greer, spoke up, stumbling over her words as she trotted off after the strange creature. "No Wait!" Nimerah called out after her, finding herself going into motion after the poor, limping grey mare. 'What is she thinking, sprinting after that, that THING!' With a mother's worry, the brindle mare joined the chase! Words: 309 Post: 6

~Emerin~
>>>>|Stationary Merchant| >
Emerin's heart stopped at the sight of the new being she had never seen before. she was sure to like the new equine or hate him. one thing was for sure that he needed to earn the trust. "NO! Greer! Nim! hold on... don't go running off..." she started at a high tone and slowly lowered as she noticed that they wouldn't hear her. She looked to the stallions for anything or any response and then turned to look towards greer before she reared to a dash. Being half thoroughbred Em found herself in front of the two mares and skidded to a halt. "Hold on girls, we can't be sure to trust this stranger." she cooed before looking after other equine who suddenly vanished in the tree line. She wondered why they would even dare to chase him. "Why are you chasing him?" she asked in a curious tone hoping they could explain themselves. "Come on girls let's get back to the group." she snorted shyly and trotted around them. she wondered what the stallions thought about this newbie in their territory. surely the old grump would have a piece of mind to share. that couldn't be any good... she hoped the small pegasi, Killian would have a better piece of mind. Surely she was wrong. Kirins were supposed to be non existent but this one was very much alive. The stallions would place a price on its head. Of course they would also get the girls to help. She was curious to see it face to face as it would be her first time ever seeing one. if she was gonna be dragged into this hunt she would promise to cause no harm to the stranger.

Killian | War-Forged Merchant | Male
Killian's ears perked in alarm as he heard the sound of hoofbeats soften by the snow coming from uphill, not far off. He froze where he stood, not sure why he was so on edge from the sound. But in that split second he'd stopped walking, the figure appeared in the clearing in front of them, breathing heavy. It stayed for only a moment before it ran off frantically again. Still, it had remained long enough for Killian to utter out a small sentence. "That is one fucking ugly deer."
That thing... a crown of prongs, the hoofprints in the snow, the strange smell, the tear marks in the bark... It was awful horse-like, leopard spotted and taller than any deer Killian had ever laid eyes on. Perhaps he was imagining things. But Killian had heard rumors, as he always managed to sneaking around the shadows and taverns in Onea, of a supposed "return". Maybe, just maybe, that beast was a kirin. Fuck. Making a skin out of kirin probably wasn't kosher. Killian was brought back by the commotion as everyone began to react. The group around him seemed to take notice of the beast as he did, and Greer and Nim began after it almost instantly. They started slowly at first, but started to take off. He wondered if these dense-ass numbskulls even knew what a kirin was, nevermind begin to suspect it was what they'd seen. Kirins are dead, if they ever existed at all, Killian thought, though he couldn't tell if he was trying to be logical or just trying to grasp what was happening. What would they do if this WAS the creature? And what if it was sentient? Capture it? Kill it? Something told Killian that Faust might consider the last option as feasible, especially since a kirin coat might be hella majestic looking. "Fuck it." Killian shrugged. The tiny pegasus beat his broad wings and darted forward. His stubby legs churned the snow and he caught the air under his feathers. Rising, he burst from the canopy, scanning the ground for the creature. Killian was their best way of heading it off; there was no way it could outrun a pegasus in flight, kirin or not. Killian cruised ahead, just barely over the trees, Nim and Greer beneath him. He lifted his head and squinted. There was a flash of red through the trees, heading downhill. "It's right! Go Right!" Killian screeched over the wind. He drummed his wings against the cool spring air, gaining on the stranger. He just needed to get far enough ahead and cut it off...

Marea Mare / Traveling Merchant / War-Forged
Marea's green eyes were wide as saucers by the time the creature bounded out of sight. Could that have truly been a Kirin? It certainly looked like one. Rather, what she'd been led to believe one should look like. Improbable as it was, if there really was an ancient beast running around, why would it be in Onea, off all places? If the old tales she had heard as a filly had any weight behind them, didn't they all tend to live in Valore, wrangling dragons or some other fantastical creatures?
There wasn't time to stop and debate now, as half the group had already sprung into a heated pursuit. Marea's hooves thudded against the dirt and snow as she galloped along behind the others. She noticed the small pegasus take off beside them, before swooping up and out of view. Moments later, he was shouting directions down at them through the tree tops. Marea grinned to herself briefly; for one so small he had quite the advantage over the rest of them. Her grin disappeared as she remembered the hulking stallion Faust was with them. No doubt he'd want to slay the beast, Kirin or otherwise, just because he could. She remembered the pegaus's deal with the old stallion and grimaced. Surely the other herds would have all their heads if it came to pass that they had slain the first Kirin to be seen in ages without so much as a thought. If anything, Marea hoped the others in the party would have sense enough to use their words before their hooves.

GHA! These mares were more aggravating than bloodsucking horseflies! Under different circumstances Faust would have already been at their throats for such insubordination but at this moment the tracks were more interesting than killing a few mares. He'd killed mares before and he'd have chances to kill more in the future. They were a dime a dozen. Common as weeds and Faust saw little sport in exterminating them. So when the loud fat one puffed it's chest and decided to play stallion, Faust only scoffed. And when the silver cripple defied his warning and trotted up beside him, Faust kept his pace and eyes on the road in front of him and ignored it. Oh how easy it would have been to silence the infuriatingly stupid bitch. She was half his size. He need only throw her down, snap her neck, and be done with it. Killing one, however, would probably bring out the fight in the others. Their utter lack of fighting skill and loyalty to one another insured Faust that he could take them, but not without injury, and he’d gain nothing from it besides maybe some peace. It wasn’t worth it. Not while these tracks were in front of him. The old stallion lumbered forward doing his best to ignore the company that was trying so hard to get under his skin. A sneer cracked his face as the smell from the tracks became slightly stronger.
They were getting close.
The group paused as the trees parted to reveal a small clearing. A splash of brilliant red among the natural tones of the earth drew the eye to a strange horned creature. Faust froze momentarily bewildered by what he was seeing. In all his years he had never come across such an animal. It looked liked some kind of chimeric magical elk. Whatever it was, it’s bones would be a fantastic addition to his collection.
One look at the odd band of equine sent the antlered beast running for the hills but they were quick to chase after it. Faust followed behind the group at a contained gallop. He kept his head bowed, and puffed out heavy breaths of air from his nostrils. He didn’t want to charge just yet, he had to draw out this hunt so he could savor it. His heart began to pump with adrenaline, and for the first time in a long time, he felt a bit of life find it’s way into his tired, beaten body. Finally, Kaia had given him something worth killing.

Greer | Stationary Merchant (rank change pending)
Greer charged after the creature, her limp disappearing as she stretched out her body, hooves pounding in pursuit. She swore she saw a flash of red disappear around a corner but she took note of the tracks and kept on, her hooves reaching long and deep into the snowy surface of the earth. "Its right! Go right!" She heard Killian yell to her from above the forest. Taking his direction she turned, hoping he was right. What were they pursuing, anyways? She thought of everything she had seen when the earth had gone still at the sight of that majestic....thing. What was that thing?! The only thought she had thought it might be was....impossible. Kirin. Impossible. Or was it?
She was broken from her thoughts as her front knee gave way and she collapsed, sliding down the seemingly endless hill and getting a face full of freezing white powder. She came to a stop at the bottom, the ground leveling out. Lesson learned, never gallop full speed down a hill with a very injured shoulder, she thought to herself. "Oh for gods sake." She hissed, lifting her blue cloak and glancing at her shoulder which was now soaked in blood, the sticky red liquid dripping down her pale leg. Great, she had torn her stitches. "We have to keep on!" She called out, mostly speaking to herself. She stood once more, hoping the group hadn't gone too far without her.
"Killian!" She called, hoping he was still flying up there somewhere he could hear her. "Dont lose it!" She screeched, looking for the tracks. She limped forward, keeping her weight on three of her legs, following the group in a week, sad looking canter. Her chest heaved with effort. Before the injury she had gone for a run at least four times a week, leaping over logs and enjoying a good gallop. Three months of hardly leaving her home had weakened her once strong muscles, especially her lungs. She swallowed her breaths, charging forward and hoping that whatever- or whoever- was at the end of this track would be worth the hassle.

Kiger
Kiger wasn't expecting the sudden attention, but she cracked a nervous smile at Killiah when the larger horse put the polar bear skin on her. "Ah...t-thanks," she managed. "As long as, er, he doesn't bite our heads off, I think I'll be fine. After all, we're War-Forged, right? We're strong." Gee, hope she didn't hear me muttering. One minute she's fighting with everyone, and the next...oh, oh, is she flirting with me?!??! Kiger felt some heat rush to her face. Good thing her coat was pitch black--otherwise, that would've been a bit embarrassing.
The mishmash-ed group of equines made their way into a small clearing, with the two of them in tow. "Come on, we're about to--," she began, but then a sudden flash of movement from the corner of her eye cut her off. It was there for only a moment, but she clearly saw something unusual. She didn't get a good look, but... "Did you see that?! What was that?"
Before she knew what was happening, half the group started tearing after the figure as it dashed out of view. Greer took off first, with Nimerah close behind, calling for Greer to come back. Then Emerin, followed by the shortish pegasus taking to the air--even the old stallion picked up the pace.
"Greer! Nimerah! Emerin?! W-wait!" she shouted. When the others didn't seem to hear, she had no other choice but to follow--unless she wanted to be left behind. "Come on, Killiah!"
As she ran, she vaguely heard the pegasus calling out directions to the horses in front, but she mostly concentrated on putting her hooves where the others had already set theirs. It wouldn't do to twist an ankle just now...

~Emerin~
>>>>|Stationary Merchant| >
Emerin found her self moving fast along the snowy hill slopes. Her heart raced as she decided that cgasing this equine was ok. she watched and listened for killian above her soaring the skies as the rest were on the ground. She skidded to a stop when she heard Greer whiny in pain as her stiches ripped fresh blood spilled down her leg and she scanned for the medic "Medic! Greer need some attention!" She called to the mare named Nimerah. "You should take it easy on that leg dearie." She cooed to Greer before taking off again. He heavy but fast hooves dashed ahead to keep her gain on the creature.
What was that?! She said to her self as she caught a glimps of it again. When she hearn her name called by a mare she had yet to converse with. She waitied until she caught up. "He went that way kiger lets go get him." She said quickly to catch her up with a smile. And off she went she built her stamina a gain and she narrowed her eyes on the Kirin's ass and chased it. She seemed to be not fast enough to quite catch the creature the "Killian! Swoop down and tackle him!" She called out for support.

One moment they were all pleasantly (somewhat at least) talking and the next thing Judiah new his nostrils were being invaded with the heavy scent they had been following...except this time it was ten feet in front of them. Jaw dropping and eyes widening, Judiah couldn't help but stare at the creature in front of them. "As I live and breath," he muttered, blinking as he was forced back to reality. The next things that hit "As I live and breath," he muttered, blinking as he was forced back to reality. The next things that hit Judiah's nostrils was the coppery smell of blood. Shaking his head, he opened his mouth as he saw the creature quickly gallop away "Hold on, wait!! we aren't bad!!..." okay well maybe they weren't all bad, some of them were pretty mouth sure but-"Hold on, wait!! we aren't bad!!..." okay well maybe they weren't all bad, some of them were pretty mouth sure but-
Shaking his head, Judiah quickly turned around to see how the others were reacting, only to have two horses zoom past him followed by a fourth and fifth. flabbergasted, he turned to follow "Guys wait we're going to scare the shit out of them!!!" This was not the way to handle this. They needed to slow down and continue to follow the Kirin's tracks. If they chased after it like this it would have a heart attack by the end of the afternoon!! Shaking his head again, he bolted after them, glancing back and raising a brow as he realised the old stallion was coming as well. Licking his lips, he brushed his ill-mannered thoughts away and continued through the low snow, breath coming out in puffs.
It wasn't long before he caught up, quickly surpassing the small pegasus and Greer. He clenched his teeth as he heard Emerin yell at Killian to tackle it "No "No don't!! we're going to kill the thing if we keep this up!!" he yelled back, quickly surpassing Emerin as she stopped beside Greer. Gods, he could only imagine what the " he yelled back, quickly surpassing Emerin as she stopped beside Greer. Gods, he could only imagine what the poor scaled beast was thinking; this was hardly the best welcoming party! Killiah WF | Travelling Merchant 'Just a warning Killiah can be offensive sometimes! It's not me just her so please don't get offended by what she says, i have no grudge against anyone ^^ all offence is to the characters not you personally okay!'
The large mare hadn't even realized what had happened until her dark little friend Kiger spoke to her, coaxing her to follow after them as they sped off into the trees; words were spoken here and there but as she followed off after the others as a fast but loping canter she found herself growing bored, almost snickering to herself as she slowly but surely gained some ground back. She hadn't caught sight of the 'Fucking Ugly deer' but she had caught it's scent and a shiney red scale in the mushed mess of horse prints in the snow
A lazy frown spread itself across her face as she practically ambled along behind the speeding group, carefully following the tracks and the fresh blood in the snow; she had half a mind to figure out it must have been the mare with the limp who was loosing blood... she had all the right not to care as the stupid bitch had done it to herself but she'd have to help later, she always had to help in some way or another, "Don't ruin my fur Kiger" she called to the little mare, ears pulled back against her neck

Killian | War-Forged Merchant | Male
Killian's fluffy ears did wonders on keeping him warm, but making out the words of the horses below him? Pretty difficult, especially with the wind rushing past his face. He did hear some commands from below him, someone shouting about tackling the stranger and another proposing that tackling was a terrible idea. Tackling a horse mid flight while they were running at 30mph seemed like a recipe for a broken wing. Killian decided that wasn't something he wanted to chance. He'd gained so closely on this stranger, Killian's shadow was casting darkness through the trees above it. In the split second it would take for the kirin (or whatever it was) to realize Killian was above, the pony pegasus had to decide what to do. There wasn't much order to the chase behind him... Killian risked that the creature would simple duck out to the side if Killian stopped him in his path. Perhaps there was a natural barrier to corral it into? Killian's eyes scanned the horizon briefly. Nope. Nothing. Trees seemed to go on, but he couldn't make out any cliff faces or drops, at least not above the canopy. Decisively, the merchant tucked in his wings and crashed through the trees, flaring his wings to twist around. He whinnied loudly, hoping that by extending his wings he'd disorient the creature enough for it to pause for the others to catch up... and that it wouldn't try to drive those prongs into his chest. "Stop!" he cried.

Nimerah WF | Medic Nimerah dashed after the grey mare, Greer. Surprised at how fast the limping mare could be. Nonetheless, she caught up with her in end. But before she could open her mouth, and convince her to stop, the large paint draft caught up with them and blocked their path. Nimerah skidded to halt, her heavy breathing coming out in puffs of mist. The draft mare, Emerin, tried to calm them down. But it was nearly like she hadn't been there. Greer flawlessly maneuvered passed her in full gallop. Nimerah, filled with the sudden rush of adrenaline, gave Emerin a apologetic smile, before doing the same, and trying to catch up with Greer once more. Mainly because she could hear the beating hooves of their companionship behind them, meaning most others were in pursuit now too. Her claim was confirmed when she quickly shot a look back, seeing the figures on her tail.
When she turned her head back forward again, however, she just saw the nasty sight of Greer collapsing and sliding down, out of view. Nimerah gasped in worried hock, and quickly followed after her, rather then the tracks that laid ahead. She was joined by the Emerin, who slid down the slope more easy. She quickly called for the medic's attention, and Nim eagerly obliged. "Are you alright? Where does it hurt?" The sooty mare quickly asked Greer, as she had made her way down and walked around the mare, hearing the cussing slip from her lips. With a strong sense of duty, Nim carefully assessed the situation, and let her eyes wonder over the open wound. Many things ran through her head, of possible remedies and quick fixes she could apply, but she didn't have her tools here. Luckily she concluded that the wound wasn't that deep, since most of it seemed to have healed already, and the bleeding wouldn't be life threatening. "Hold still, okay?" She said, and quickly started to scan their surroundings, ignoring the rumbling of hooves above them, passing them by. The two of them might have to give up on this chase.
She walked around, searching through the bushes, and low growth. She ran off a little further, when she spotted them. The high growing, wild flowers. "Yes! Perfect!" She cheered under her breath, and quickly plucked the the stem and leaves. As she trotted back, the chewed on the greenery, making sure it would release it's juices.
Nimerah carefully kneeled down next to Greer, and moved the blue cloak aside once more. The young mare started to apply the, now green mush, to the bloody openings, with careful concentration. "You're lucky, Yarrow usually doesn't grow well in forests." She tried to smile at the grey mare, hoping she wasn't hurting her too much. "This will help to stop the bleeding." Nim said. Without question she undid the cloak, and started to knit it around the shoulder, nice and tight. She stood, and offered to help Greer getting up herself. She nearly wanted to say that was probably best if they'd return to the village, so those wounds could be stitched up again, but she changed her mind and kept quiet as she saw the fire in the grey mares eyes. She'd probably be too determinant to leave.
So, Nimerah offered herself as a support beam, so they could slowly limp after the exciting chase. Words: 562 Post: 7

The old unicorn was quickly discovering that running was way more strenuous than it used to be. His joints ached under his weight and heavy stride and froth was already beginning to accumulate at his mouth and neck. The stallion was out of shape and out of practice but he’d never admit it. He’d blame it on the damned summer heat. Regardless, just feeling the strain and becoming aware of his limitations was enough to enrage him. The chase would have to end sooner than originally intended. 'We’ll just have skip to the fun part, won’t we?'An opportunity presented itself when the annoying silver mare in front of him stumbled off the path. Faust could smell the her blood as he passed her, which amused him some. The bitch must have popped a stitch. The brindled unicorn and young draft mare interrupted their pursuit to turn around to help their fallen hellcat. ' Perfect'. With Greer and the two others out of the way, Faust had a clear path to take out the alien creature. Now he only need to catch up to it. As if answering his mental wish, his new little "friend", the flying dwarf - Killian was it?- dove down in front of the flighty beast causing it to skid to a halt and pause for just a moment so it could map out the next best route for escape. The moment was all Faust needed. A few seconds of vulnerability puts the deer in the wolf’s teeth and a life in the mercy of a Raider’s sword. Faust took aim at his target and beat his hooves into the earth with all the strength he could muster. The ground trembled beneath the Mountain. Glorious memories of war and savage raids flooded his mind, fueling his bloodlust and allowing him to ignore the pulsing ache in his old legs. SMACK!
With a loud grunt, Faust plowed into the speckled body of the creature and used the momentum of the charge to further ram it into a nearby tree. Leaves fell and birds flew out of the thicket from the force of the impact. Faust took a step back, removing his crushing weight and allowing the stunned creature to fall. As he caught his breath, he circled the beast, giving caution to the brilliant red rack of daggers atop it's crown. Now that he was closer, several new things about the beast stood out to him. The first thing Faust noticed was that it was larger than he had first thought. Definitely taller than a few of the tag-alongs behind him. The second were the odd golden scales along it’s neck, not completely unlike some fishblooded horses, but something about them different. The last he took notice of were it’s perplexing eyes. They were the most surprising. The lemony stare of the beast wasn’t like that of the panicked and soulless glare of an elk, as Faust had expected, but rather one that revealed a mind as developed as his own. This thing was intelligent. Faust smiled ominously down at the stranger. His discovery did nothing to deter him from his bloodthirst, in fact, it made him all the more eager. Prey that understood what was happening to them was always more satisfying to kill. “You can understand me, can’t you?” Faust shouted in his deep, gravely voice He looked for a sign of comprehension and then gave out curt laugh when he got it. “Well know this, you scaled bastard," He spat, froth dripping from his maw, "Your life ends now. As Kaia wills it!” With that, the massive grey stallion reared high above the other, ready to strike the final blow. “I will enjoy feasting on your heart!”WC: 631 Post: 5

Killiah WF | Travelling Merchant 'Just a warning Killiah can be offensive sometimes! It's not me just her so please don't get offended by what she says, i have no grudge against anyone ^^ all offence is to the characters not you personally okay!'
The large mare went at an easy lope, a slow canter that kept her ahead of the stragglers, She passed the wounded Greer, the young paint and even the sexy brindle Nimerah as she followed along the rest of their companies tracks; she was bored of the chase, eyebrows knotted together as she sneered to herself... it was boring, she'd rather be flirting with all the pretty mares instead of doing this
For a moment she was drawn out of her thoughts as a large gray mass passed her, the brute that seemed so intent on blood with foam coming from his mouth, it was an unsightly view to say the least but what had come next was even more so she found herself almost shocking into place; the large stallion had no care for anyone as the panicked deer horse thing slid to stop in front of shorty... atleast thats what Killiah had assumed, the ruffle of feathers was almost a dead giveaway, "Oi gramps just-" she was cut off mid sentence as the poor creature was tackled from behind by Faust's bulk, the tree bark cracking as it crumpled at the base of the roots
The pain and fear on its face was clear as it beheld Faust's mass... his scarred hide and cracked hooves enough to scare anyone, anyone except Killiah. With a heavy snort the large mare charged forward, throwing her weight against Faust's side as his raised hooves reached their pinnacle. The force of the blow was enough to make her stumble back infront of the deer creature teeth bared at the brute; the sweet taste of blood filled her mouth and she had to resist the urge to gag, damn she'd split her lip... figures, "Back off Gramps!" She hissed pinning her ears back, "This isn't the old days of the war, back your ass up! This thing has more rights then you eh, you cant just go killin' things!" Her nose wrinkled at his smell but she stood her ground, she wouldn't let him murder anyone; it wasnt like her to do such a thing but for some reason she felt Heroic in the presences of the brindled Medic

Greer | Stationary Merchant (rank change pending)
Greer nodded a thank you to Nimeriah and reminded herself to invite the brindle medic in for a drink and a meal, along with Kiger, Killian, Marea, Emerin and maybe even Killiah since she was feeling generous. As she stumbled to her hooves and leaned on Nimeriah she became eager again, breaking into a canter despite the burning pain of her now open wound. The cold snapping wing stung her, but she gave no sign of pain. A few moments ago she had seen that brute gallop past- huffing and puffing. He was really old, wasnt he? If it weren't for that stubborn mare Killiah on his heels, Greer would have taken off after him herself.
At the sound of yelling ahead on the trail, Greer turned to the mares nearby. "We have to catch up to them." She announced, powering ahead through the thin layer of snow. After a few minutes she spotted faust breathing huffs of breath over the...Kirin. Greer slowed to a trot, soon standing next to Killiah and infront of faust, between the beast of a stallion and the spotted creature. "You heard her." Greer hissed, her face strong even in the face of such an aggressive warrior. "He has rights, just like you and I." She explained, her voice softer now. "Now please, let them get up." She asked, speaking to him in a nice tone even though she would just love to bite his head off. Still, her face was a contorted grimace as she stared him down.
