Phoenix | Aodh Servile Slave The end of her volunteer work couldn’t have come at a better time, for when Phoenix returned home to her Mistress, she was told they would be joined by another very soon. The slave had looked at her Mistress thoughtfully, concealing a certain excitement she had. All of Mistress Iscah’s slaves were special in their own ways, and Phoenix had thought that could only mean that this new slave would be just as special as they were.
She spent a few days fantasizing what the other slave would be like. Phoenix was fairly certain that the new slave would be female, only because the rest of her housemates were female. But who knows, maybe Mistress would introduce a male to the group. And then there was the type. Were they untrained or trained? We’re they specialty bred, or culled from another herd like Desoto? Were they older, like Eleanor, or perhaps a foal in need of teaching? It was exciting to think about. She liked to consider herself on good terms with Mistress Iscah's other slaves, and she wanted this new slave to be on the same page there.
She was oddly restless and distracted until the day came where the new slave would arrive. She made sure that she was well groomed; her mane was freshly shaven, her bridle polished, her makeup perfect, and her hoof polish renewed. Se needed to make sure this new slave knew what the expectations were, if they didn’t know already.
Phoenix had been making sure the house was spotless, as she wanted to impress not only the new slave, but especially her Mistress with her dedication to the craft, if you could call slavery such. Nothing was out of place, not a sign of dirt upon the floor, or specks of dust upon any of Mistress Iscah’s belongings. Phoenix’s OCD for this kind of thing made it so everything had to be just right, complete perfection. And before long, Mistress Iscah had returned with the slave in tow.
The slave opened the door and stepped back with her head bowed to allow her Mistress and the new slave to enter, a soft smile upon her muzzle. “Mistress Iscah, you have returned. Welcome home.” Her words were spoken elegantly and with purpose, but she couldn’t resist a peek at the slave that had been just acquired.
Phoenix knew immediately that this slave was bred specifically, just like she herself had been. She could see it in the girls reddish tones, her bald face and socks, the brindling down her sides. But what made Phoenix the most excited, was that this slave was a dragon wing pegasus just like she was, albeit a bit smaller likely due to age.
Still bowing, she waited to be told to rise, and waited to be introduced and potentially given orders.
It was very, very exciting.

Iscah
She was so tired.
It was hard to forget a meeting in with Ignacio; and although it wasn’t something she spoke of often, that whole reveal had caused a whirlwind of emotions to stir inside her. So many conflicting things and emotions; it was hard to make out what to think, even after she had some time to. Her guilts bled deeper in the days; anchoring in and planting roots that went further and further than anyone, even herself would see.
Her paths crossed more often by slave traders these days - rare, with how little servile slaves were - unconscious detours on her own part, which she didn’t notice until she stopped, when she did. And she barely registered her own actions as she saw a younger slave and was making a deal with the trader - the kid in a state that gave her no choice, she would proclaim if anyone asked.
She was leading the young horse home soon after that; a careful gaze on them as she lead them through the streets and back home. The road so ingrained in her mind, she didn’t even need to look, to know where she was going; at least while she took the glances behind her to gauge the young Pegasus’ reaction. Her own expression remaining neutral, throughout the whole thing.
It was when she took the first step inside the door, where she seemed to melt into relaxation; the tension that one might not notice, dripping off her like an ice cube placed in an oven. The bags under her eyes would not vanish so easily, but her expression seemed to relax; the strained lines around her eyes and mouth softening in seconds. There was a soft glint in her eyes; the obligations of her name and title in public taken off her back, like weighs pulled off her shoulders.
Iscah was surprised a moment later, by Phoenix, side stepping for half a second. The Em dipped her head in thanks to the slave quickly after that. ”Thank you, Phoenix,” She gave a very quick glance at the other dragon Pegasus, a knowing spark in her eye as she held back a smile, catching the extra care Phoenix had put into her appearance today. She turned back to look at the second, ”this is Eris, she’ll be joining us,”
Iscah closed the door behind the slave herself, turning back to the young Pegasus a moment later, looking down at the horse with a soft, and almost motherly gaze; intentional or not. She didn’t hesitate next, slipping off the young horse’s bridal, taking no care as she threw it off to the side, indifferent to where it landed, ”we don’t require those here,” she muttered softly, while doing so. The only good kind were decorative bridals without a bit; she couldn’t stand these stupid things. Especially not now, after anything. The only exception was for Desoto. But Desoto was more wild beast that horse most days; and she didn’t want to risk anyone getting hurt, or Desoto having the chance to get blamed for anything because she was caught with full freedom without Iscah around.
She turned back to the two, her expression almost lacking emotion, ”is there anything you would like to do? Perhaps a tour of this place?” Iscah’s voice softened, ”any suggestion, don’t feel obligated to hold your tongue.”

Phoenix | Aodh Servile Slave There was much that the slave did not know, didn’t understand and couldn’t even hope to understand. Her breeding ran deeper than the blood that ran through her veins. It was ingrained into her very person, her soul. It would probably take Phoenix years to understand if Iscah tried to explain to her what she had found out, what she knew. How guilty she felt. It was hard to just wash away something you were born with, born for. As ingrained in Aodhian society slavery was, it was just as ingrained in a slave such as Phoenix. It was a strange comfort, like a warm blanket.
Phoenix dipped her head with a smile before she rose when the duo were finally inside, and she stood up straight as she listened to her Mistress speak. Their Mistress was a kind one. She watched the bridle get taken off and thrown off to the side, a small moment of anxiety pierced through the servile before relaxing; it had not been thrown in anger. And although her Mistress was addressing the youth, the older slave took the chance to really get a good look at the filly.
And she was hurt; there were bandages around her legs that Phoenixs’ excited eyes failed to notice.
It felt like Devasha all over again, though Phoenix knew that she hadn’t gone and injured this child herself. Luckily Devasha only really had a bruised ego, but this child before her bore marks that no servile of her caliber should ever have. Concern crossed her features and she looked to her Mistress for a split second with an inquiring look, but bit back the impulse to ask exactly what had happened to the child. Instead she took the liberty to do something she knew a little about; tending wounds. It was all apart of her training in the event her masters and mistresses injured themselves.
She thought that she should give the child a chance to speak, but ever passing moment meant that whatever the injuries were could become infected and get worse. She had seen terrible injuries while in the Dark District. She saw what they could do to a horse in unclean conditions. It took everything the pegasus had to suppress a disgusted shudder. She could not under any circumstances let that happen to their newest addition to the family.
“Mistress I would like to tend to her injuries.” The concerned look was ever present on the donkey’s pegasus’ face. “After tending to the citizens outside of the capitol, I think I have gotten quite a knack for it.” Although most of her duties while in the camp for the fleeing citizens who lived outside of Valore was mostly just distributing supplies, there came quite a few times where she assisted with injuries, mostly burns. “Please allow me to retrieve the first aid kit, Mistress.” The pegasus slave bowed once again before hurrying from the room. This would give the child a chance to speak freely without having to feel as if Phoenixs’ presence would hinder her.

......
The click of the door closing behind her had made her raise her head in slight surprise, noting to herself that she should try not to act so startled at any sound. Though that was hard when she was wary of being harmed again anytime soon.
Glancing up towards the eminent with a wary gaze, she felt the metal of her bridle leave her mouth within a sudden second, her ears falling flat for a moment at the harsh sound of metal clinging against polished floors, though they raised again when she realized that this mare wasn't doing it to harm her. "O-oh... Okay...." The feeling of a bridle missing from her face was a strange sensation. The bit wasn't easily missed but she usually wore a bridle. Eris guessed that this emin didn't like the bridles. How strange... And reassuring. Maybe this eminent Iscah would be better than she expected, considering the reputation of Soleil children.
Taking a moment to readjust her mouth to the lack of meta,l she hesitated on answering the eminent, but was quick to look over to the other slave when they asked to tend to her injuries. "W-wait you don't have to do that, they're just dirty from being on for a day-" The other slave was already gone, moving out of sight to grab a first aid kit. This made Eris sigh a bit, causing her to glance down at her various dressings. They covered her legs and sides well, but her the ones on her tail needed to be fixed. She's just glad she didn't get burned but she looked up fully at the Eminent this time. "I... I wouldn't mind a tour... This place seems pretty big on the outside so I don't want to get lost." Right after that she held her tongue for a bit, waiting for a reply and for the other slave to return. The other dragon winged pegasus did seem to be giddy for her presence though that was hard for her to notice when shes so mentally distracted.

Iscah
Iscah turned her head, eyes watching Phoenix and her reactions, so eager to help; some part of her smiled at that, almost wanting to laugh. But she held it in, not wanting to give the wrong impression to a young, newly introduced horse who had no idea what to expect. Iscah’s gaze turned to Eris when Phoenix spoke of the wounds and a first aid kid, just to remind herself of the state they were in. She internally winced a bit - she of course already knew, but the reminder was still there. She could only wonder what put this kid in such a traumatized and hurt state to be so wary and side tracked. She could use her blessing to find out almost immediately; but she’d rather be told in trust, than to invade the literal mental privacy of someone new in the household. She may be a slave, but she was still a person, and they deserved trust and respect.
She turned her head to reply to Phoenix, but she was stopped for half a second to see she didn’t wait for confirmation. Iscah couldn’t hold back her laugh at that, still taking time to call over her shoulder back at the fine equine, ”yes please, that would be great, thank you!” And she looked back at Eris, shaking her head and chuckling to herself. Iscah nodded at Eris and their request for a tour, her gaze back to gentle and calm, when her attention was back on her, ”of course, that can easily be done.” Iscah sighed after that, ”don’t worry, you may think this estate is big, but with how many horses are apart of it, it will feel small in no time.” She gave a blink back over her shoulder to see where Phoenix was, yet she still seemed gone, so she turned back Eris, ”I won’t expect anything of you for at least a week, feel free to take time to heal, rest, and get to know the place, in that time.” She let out a long sigh under her breath; she’d figure out what Eris would even be doing after that - once she had her own idea of their abilities and passions. There wasn’t anything that needed to be done, other slaves took care of most of it at this point; she’d rather let the kid decide what made them happy and they wanted to do instead. But she didn’t say anything. ”In the meantime, once Phoenix returns and you’re mended up, we can start with the tour,” her smile softened, just a bit.

Phoenix | Aodh Servile Slave As she moved towards her destination, Phoenix smiled when Iscah called out after her. She knew it was in a poor example to simply leave the way she did, but she knew Iscah would understand her intent to assist. It was what Phoenix was bred for, what made her incredibly happy.
It wasn’t that Phoenix was incompetent that made her take a few extra minutes, it was the fact that she wanted to give Eris a few moments without her fretting over her injuries. Likely the kid was already done with the older pegasus worrying over her, she remembered the insecurity in Devasha’s eyes when she had gone to such lengths to ensure Iscah’s sister was alright after their unfortunate little collision. She didn’t want to irritate the child so soon, but the slave was concerned none the less and would at the very least ensure the wounds were tended to carefully and to the best of her ability. The sooner the wounds healed, the better Eris would feel, Phoenix could only hope for that much.
The first aid kit, a jug of warm water and a small basin dangled from the crimson, amber and gold teke as Phoenix waited a few heartbeats before moving back towards Iscah and Eris. She moved swiftly and with her usual grace as she passed through the estate with her head held high. She wouldn’t show any other members of the household that there was someone distressing, Phoenix didn’t really want to have to explain herself. But before long, she reentered the room she had left the duo in, and she quickly moved to Eris’ side. She bowed her head to Iscah before addressing the youth.
“I will tend to your wounds now, Eris. It may sting a little, but you’ll feel better afterwards, I can assure you.” She smiled at the child before she went to work. Seeing that the tail bandages were the worst of the lot, she started there. The bandages were removed slowly and carefully so that any healing skin wouldn’t be accidentally ripped off. The wound was cleaned with warm water first, before an antiseptic was applied directly to the wounds. After that was done, fresh, sterile cloth bandages were wrapped around the injury and secured tightly, but with enough give to let the wound breathe.
Phoenix noted that the injuries weren’t burns, but rather numerous scratches. It almost looked like she was attacked by a small cat or something. And although very curious as to what had really happened to the child, she knew in time that Eris would likely tell Iscah at the very least. But for now, all she could do was make sure the wounds were kept from infection.
“Your tail bandages are changed. I will work on your sides now.” Phoenix announced, before getting back to work.

......
Listening to Iscah's gentle and pleasant voice she zoned out for a second at some words before realizing what the eminent meant by them, and letting out a small coo of sudden realization. "Small? Oh... Oh yes I forgot about the fact the Soleil family was said to be very large, and very... Rowdy? It's what my breeder had told me of course." Eris felt a bit embarrassed by it since it sort of sounds bad. Though she was telling what she heard, so hopefully a innocent smile would brush it off well. On the other hoof she nodded slightly to those words, a bit confused as to why a noble would not expect anything of her for a week but she wouldn't mind much... At least until the chaos started up. "Alright then."
Turning her ears to the sound of hoof steps she watched as the other slave came back into view, their head held high with the sight of an aid kit, jug and basin in glittering teke. Phoenix was her name right? How pretty and fitting for her appearance. At least there was another pegasus slave here that could possibly fly with her.
Keeping herself quiet and still she watched the other bow and come to her side, feeling the wrappings around her tail fall away under fire colored magic, alongside a twig, pebble or leaf falling free or getting exposed from underneath the bandages. Eris soon felt herself get a bit red in the face as she heard a little bit of stuff fall from her tail. Of course before she had gotten back to Emin Juliet's house, she had tried to patch up her tail since it had endured the most damage while trying to run away from murderous kirins. Having had flailed it around in wild abandon in her desperate escape. She wasn't good at first aid so her effort proved to be a bit bad since it looked so messy and horrendous. It was a miracle she hadn't gotten sick from such stuff yet, especially with how long the marks where across her tail.
Wincing only slightly at the pain, she felt relieved when her dragon tail was finally fixed up completely, soon lifting her wings carefully to allow Phoenix access to her sides which were probably the least damaged out of all her issues.

Iscah
Iscah let out a long sigh at Eris’ question about her own family. Iscah suddenly looked like she needed a glass of wine; at least for a second, but she didn’t make an attempt to get one. ”my siblings are in the 20s, my sister and I grew up raising most of them, it’s hard to remember every one of them, even what I know of too. So there’s is a horse of every kind between them all, certainly a few rowdy ones included.” And that wasn’t even counting her mother, other staff and everyone else who lived on the estate. And while not all of them lived here - certainly not all her siblings - a few occupied some of their time here. She perked up when she saw Phoenix re-enter the room. She didn’t have to look to hard to guess that she’d given them an extra minute or two to talk. Certainly not against Phoenix’s natural behaviour. Iscah nodded to the Seville slave and watched her work. Eris seemed a bit unsettled at first, but that washed off quicker than later. And Iscah’s own gaze followed her and her motions, side tracked as the conversation came to a natural lull with that happenings and first aid interrupting them all.
Iscah let the scene unfold for a few minutes, as the silence stretched on, before it started to get to her, as Phoenix was moving on to other places beside Eris’ tail. ”Thank you for helping so much, Phoenix, I’m not sure what I’d do without you,” her words were soft, her smile just lightly dusting her lips. She let the silence capture the scene a second time, letting it only hold for a moment, before she turned her attention to Eris, ”may I ask why kind of things you did in your old household? she tilted her head, ”do you have any hobbies or passions - anything at all you like to do?”

Phoenix | Aodh Servile Slave The mare would have flushed if she could, feeling the heat rise to her face. Compliments from Iscah always made Phoenix a little flustered. It was hard not to with how Phoenix felt about her Mistress. But the time for fantasy came later. Now, the focus was on her Mistress, and the injured filly.
The leaf matter didn’t really trigger a thought in the slaves head at first. She figured the tail could have lingered too closely to the bushes outside, or the possible gardens in Eris’ old household. For now, her attention was mainly fixing the problem rather than figuring out how it got there in the first place.
“Thank you Mistress, you are most kind.” She flashed her Mistress a warm smile, before continuing her first aid.
The same method was used on Eris’ sides as they were done on the tail. The old bandages were removed gingerly, the injuries themselves swabbed carefully with warm water. Antiseptic was smoothed over before being covered with fresh, sterile linen bandages and adhered in such a way to give the injuries a chance to breathe and give Eris the greatest amount of movement possible without falling off.
Next came the legs. By this time, Iscah was speaking to Eris again about what she enjoyed, and Phoenix found her long ears perking with interest. There was loads for the child to do, to be passionate about. And a lot of that could help with tasks around the house. Not that Phoenix was really averse to anything herself. She enjoyed helping out in general. However, she despised the heavy labor that the labor slaves had to go through, and she was hardly a fighter for the pit. It was a good thing she was bred to be beautiful and to be obedient, rather than...well, Desoto. Not that Desoto wasn’t beautiful in her own right (she was!), but the mare was, for lack of a better word, terrifying. So Phoenix kept her distance. A lesson Eris would likely need to learn as well.
Phoenix had finally finished dressing Eris' legs, wrapping the bandages around tightly, but gently like the others were dressed. She rose up with the kit, jug and basin, and turned to look at Iscah. “I will return in a moment, please allow me to put everything away after I clean them. I will not be long.” She gave Iscah a knowing look, since the child had yet to reply. Give her another moment without Phoenix’s hovering.
Before long, Phoenix’s hoofbeats were leading her out of the room again.

E R I S of Aodh
......
(Warning: Some swearing and abuse)
Eris watched Iscah's mood shift slightly, one of her ears laying down as the emin sighed and explained the not so reassuring statement. The noble looked like she needed something 'specific' to drink for a second, but she noticed it passed quickly as she kept her wings splayed up to let Phoenix better wrap the dressings around her torso; soon, lifting each of her individual legs up for the other servile to get a better grasp on them when each was taken care of. "Oh... You sort of make it sound like practically half of Valore is related to you when you say you can't remember them all. Though I can't exactly blame you for that. Having half a million siblings sounds exhausting... Wait... What am I even saying? I got a lot of siblings myself. I mean I probably don't know some exist but I know I have quite a few." She paused for a moment when she realized she was on a child like ramble. "Oops. I'm rambling... Sorry, but hopefully with all you're siblings you're getting enough sleep at night... Mistress Iscah."
Listening to the sound of Phoenix finishing up with her care of her wounds, she listened to the sound of hoof beats in the background as Iscah asked her about what she did back in her old household. About hobbies... Passions... Likes. It made her stare at the Eminent for a minute trying to process those words. Hobbies? Passions? Slaves weren't really supposed to have those. They were supposed to serve of course. Like she'd been taught and told frequently. Of course her breeder let her experiment a little bit with things in the hour of downtime that was even given to her but she hadn't found much she really enjoyed. The things she had done were fun but nothing clicked since most were very... Mundane... Things... That her breeder Eros had even allowed. The slave trader obviously didn't want her to get any bright ideas that could lead to escape.
Her ears fell flat and back as she thought harder. Any passion? At all in her little head? She thought of nothing. Unable to find anything now that she was purchased by a very high reputation noble. The only passion she had before was to be sold to noble. She HAD to be sold to noble. It was pounded in to her head among her studies and she just had to have gotten purchase by the wealthy... Lest... Lest she end up in the basement.
Eris began to stare at the ground for minutes upon minutes, scouring through memories to find anything she could even properly answer her new owner with. Remembering the past with fire in her soul as she uncovered anything that could possible be an appropriate answer. It brought her back to when she was still with her breeder Eros. Back when she was battling to be the best.
"What the hell is this?" The sound of Eros's voice piercing through the halls after the sharp clatter of breaking dishes echoed. The soft click of a foal's hooves backing away. Eris's ear perched itself high, a sly smile on her face as she watched what happen from the hall, using a mirror to not be seen but still view the scene unfolding.
"I-I didn't mean for it to h-happen M-m-master! I-it was up t-there a-and it f-fell and-"
The crack of a whip hitting the floor caused Eris to flinch, but she continued watching on despite the slight ringing. "Do you think I care about where it was Gin?" Silence. "Answer me." Silence. "N-no master Eros." Gemstone hooves clicked against marble floors, going closer to the foal.
"Listen to me, and listen well little slave. You know well about what'll happen to you if you fail. Try not to disappoint me again or else. Now clean this up before I make you pick these shards up with your teeth."
The trader unicorn soon left the vicinity, leaving a small pegasus foal to clean up the mess while Eris slinked away.
Maybe strategy games would be a good response? Of course she couldn't say why but did it really matter. Though thinking of that whip... That bloodstained whip. It brought her back to her uncle. Oh that horrible beast. Unable to be truly contained. It made her shiver thinking about it.
"God fucking damn it! Stay down Gilbert or else I'll rip those damned wings of your's off!"
Eros was met with nothing more than rattling chains and a furious growl, the sound of bulky legs pulling against iron fetlock constraints. From a distance away Eris watched with a plain bridle put tight around her head, the wife holding her still as they watched on to keep an eye on the pit slave as he was taken out from the slave cell.
"You're awfully quiet today. What's the matter? Have you finally decided to behave like you should Gil?"
Nothing came from the pit fighter's mouth, the small servile getting a nervous feeling in her small stomach as she watched her uncle stay still and unnervingly silent.
"Well? Are you going to speak, slave? That bit in your mouth isn't tight enough to stop you."
Still nothing. Just growing tension and silence.
"Hmm..."
Then there was screaming.
The sound of her master shouting quickly flooded the area, the wife keeping her held still pulling her around harshly as she freaked out, the sound of massive hooves stomping and crashing against marble. The floors cracked underneath power. Her uncle roared. Then soon there was the sound of a whip. Chains being thrashed around as bones cracked underneath the blows of a heavy club, her uncle quickly downed by a furious Eros as he nearly beat the slave within a inch of death, spewing out swears one after another saying how he should just kill Gilbert right then and there for his insolence. The downed form of her uncle, bloody and bruised with injuries so bad they were almost unrecognizable. An unconscious slave dragged away to be locked into the basement, blood trailing behind and staining the floors. The feeling of a sponge under her hoof as she and some others were made to rub the floor clean of blood until it shined
Then it all stopped.
Shaking her head violently to rid herself of her memories she quickly came up empty hoofed after having zoned out for over ten minutes, not having an proper response to Iscah's questions of herself.
"I... Just... Did normal slave work at my old master's house. Of course I was... Only there for six months before today so that's not really... Much. I don't... Really have anything I like... I don't know if I have any passions or... Hobbies really. I mean... I guess... I guess I love any sweet treat that has a more tart taste like pies or strudels... Though that's about it."
She was unsure what else to say, not wanting to dwell any further on her memories after what things she dug up from the past. Especially now that her eyes looked distant and haunted from even thinking about such things.

Iscah
Iscah bid a sweet smile to Phoenix, shaking her head slightly, ”you have no need to thank me for anything I say, when it is wholly earned,” she let her gaze rest for a moment, the truth in her eyes shining as she did so.
And her attention was turned back to Eris as they spoke of their family; Iscah tucked her ears back - she couldn’t help herself. She’d never thought of slaves having big families. Or having any families. From what she knew, most bred slaves were taken away pretty early, and raised without their family. Almost like cattle; any lack of empathy for them, as if they weren’t people. And now she knew they were just people from horses who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, or so distantly related to some horse who did a bad thing. It was another thing she hated deeply. But perhaps not quite as much as the hunting of vagabonds and the likes; hulled away from their lives and shoved into...whatever was waiting for them. But her dissatisfaction wasn’t something she dwelled on often; for she could dislike something, but she wasn’t sure she’d change Aodh for being open about it. Plus she was quite a hypocrite, now owning five slaves to her name. But she often tried to justify that by at least giving them a good pace to stay; knowing they were treated decently let her sleep a bit easier at night. She couldn’t own every slave in Aodh, either.
Iscah blinked back into the moment, a solem smile on her expression, ”yes, my mother has...quite a reputation. It’s hard to count how many siblings are birthed out of her habits,” she spoke matter-of-factly. It was bound to be something learned quickly around this pace if not already known - and better from her than anyone else. ”Don’t worry about rambling, no one here has ever asked you to hold your tongue,” her voice was soft again, ”but yes...I think I understand. It sounds almost...lonely.”
Iscah turned her head to Phoenix, dipping her head in reply as she left to do her self proclaimed chores. Iscah’s attention turned back to Eris, as she waited for a response. It took longer than she’d expected, and she couldn’t help letting a frown sink on her face at the one she got. It left her silent for a second, before she gave a brief nod. ”That’s alright, I’m sure there’s things you’ll find you love to do. You’re more than free to experiment, I’m sure other horses around would love to show you some things. And if you have anything you need for anything you want to do, just let me know and I’ll have someone fetch it.” She paused, flicking her tail, ”you don’t have to be shy about it, Eleanor, one of the other Serviles is always using fabrics for outfit making. The last part was said off hand; like it was a known fact. There were other things she could list off, but she didn’t seem to find the need. Instead her gaze was turned to Eris, level and soft, ”don’t think I’m saying this just to be polite, you’re part of the family now, and you deserve to be treated like it. You’re allowed to find your own hobbies and passions, be your own horse, and I don’t mind supporting them one bit.”

Phoenix | Aodh Servile Slave The mare felt her skin tingle at the smile Iscah gave her, the look lingering in her mind as she went to finish her duties. The basin was rinsed and cleaned with antibacterial soap and scalding water, then set aside to dry. The same was done with the jug, which was specially used for this purpose of tending wounds. The first aid kit was replaced to where it had been taken from, with a note set there for Phoenix by the slave herself to get more bandages from the local medic later on. With a family this large and rowdy, they had to keep a good stock of medicines.
As Phoenix made the journey back, she thought back to her family. Like Eris, her family was incredibly large and spread out, premium breeding stock for the most perfect of slaves. She had at one point wondered if she had a twin, or if she had simply been born the same day as one of the other slaves. She could somewhat remember seeing someone like her oh so long ago. Maybe it was just her mother. She had the fortune to be brought up with her mother to ensure she was in the best health, but as soon as she was weaned she had indeed been taken away for her servile education.
She wondered if she were passing family every day. Shaking the thought, she continued walking
She had returned long before Eris had actually spoken, or she assumed that the child had yet to form an answer, but she had kept herself just around the corner as the silence was not reassuring. Surely they weren’t waiting for her to return all that long? She had timed it perfectly, stay out for a few minutes, allow the child time to absorb the information and respond accordingly. But she didn’t even hear words even as she came back down the hallway, the voices surely drifted. But there was nothing, just silence.
Finally Eris just explained what she had done, and the way she spoke was not reassuring to Phoenix in the least. The trailing off, the bit of stuttering. Had Eris’ old master seen her now, Phoenix knew he would have been less than pleased. The child had suffered some trauma that blocked out her ability to form sentences properly. Phoenix shook her head. How could she be thinking so critically? Despite her own understanding that slaves were supposed to be perfect all the time, she couldn’t bring herself to push the responsibility on Eris’ injured shoulders.
Phoenix never had any traumas, not nearly as bad as the ones that flooded Eris’ mind. It was nothing like that which Eris had. Her deepest worries were disappointing her Masters and Mistresses (especially Iscah) and being sent back to the Dark District. She knew that others could possibly say she was incredibly spoiled under Iscah’s care. Her upbringing had been, in her opinion, stellar. So long as she did what she was told, there was nothing to worry about. Study, learn, do. Obey, bow, smile.
Just what has this child been through?
She finally heard Eris speak, along with Iscah, and decided that she should reappear. She looked at her Mistress apologetically, not so much for taking a while, but because she was eavesdropping. She hadn’t wanted to, but she didn’t want to interrupt the conversation either. In an attempt to apologize, for she was sure Iscah had likely known she was there, she spoke up to the new slave.
“Do you like the gardens outside?” It was an honest question. “I have to admit, I’m not very good at the whole...dirt thing.” She smiled, her eyes sparkling as they flicked to Iscah and back to Eris. “But I do love the flowers. So even if I get my hooves dirty, it’s quite fun to tend to the family flora.” It was a suggestion. Get the child outside where there weren’t any walls, surrounded by the most beautiful blossoms Valore has ever seen, in Phoenix’s honest opinion. Give her the first taste of freedom most slaves could only dream of.
“Or maybe you are more of a tailor. Or perhaps a weaver even.” She moved in closer to Eris, her eyes snapping to Iscah as she lowered her lips to the girls ear and whispered, but loud enough for Iscah to hear. “I’ll let you in on a little secret. I’m a terrible seamstress.” She winked at Iscah. it was a small lie, considering that sewing was a large part of her servile schooling. “But you could be grand under Eleanors tutelage. I am getting better thanks to her.” Perhaps that was enough of a spark. Perhaps Eris could see the hope that there was something here for her.

Iscah
”Of course,” Iscah gave a long look at her, ”I’m not sure your training will be totally useful here, for I don’t mind you speaking when you wish or taking liberties you’d like. I’ll let you know what you don’t have to bother doing, though.” Iscah looked away and gave a flick of her tail before turning her head back to Eris somewhat suddenly, ”same goes for what I do expect, don’t worry, you’ll know everything soon enough with time - I hope the transition isn’t too hard to get used to.” If there was anything. But she didn’t care about that at all, right now. She wouldn’t fault a slave for taking time figuring out their place in her care. But she didn’t think too hard about all of that.
Iscah perked her ears and gave a soft chuckle at Phoenix, shaking her head, ”I am not agreeing with that statement, I can barely keep a seam anything but crooked, myself. You’re for sure better than I can ever be, but I guess I haven’t spent enough time learning from her; myself,” an easy time was in her voice, while she gave a soft smile that created the corners of her eyes - which seemed to shine with mirth in the light.
Iscah rose an eyebrow at Eris and tilted her head, ”no offence taken by anyone, I think. What you enjoy doesn’t have to be another’s passion, and I think that’s fine.” She flicked her tail and fell silent for a moment after that. She smiled softly, ”but yes, Eleanor is quite gifted, we’re lucky to have her around, I must say.”
Iscah pulled her ears back and blinked twice at the question - she had to stop herself from cocking her head at the question. She nodded a second later, ”Of course we can,” she looked over at Phoenix, ”you want to join us on the tour, right? You’re more than welcome to, but I don’t want to presume.” Her smile lasted for a second; soft while her gaze met, before she turned to Eris again. It was a quick motion of her head, and an almost just short of walk which she lead, wordlessly. Around a corner or two and through a door, she didn’t wait for anyone to open it for her, holding it open for the other two to come in - letting it close when the two were in the gardens. She had a smile on her face as she looked at the young horse, ”you’re more than welcome to explore, take your time.”

Phoenix | Aodh Servile Slave Phoenix held her tongue was Eris and Iscah spoke. From Phoenix’s own personal judgment, it seemed she was having the effect she was hoping for; the girl was beginning to speak with less pauses and stutters. Whatever had happened to her would, again in Phoenix’s opinion, dwindle away with time. Surely it couldn’t have been too bad...maybe. The girl will find her place within the household in time, and she’ll smile and enjoy the freedoms most slaves of their breeding never get to taste, no matter how good they were.
Before long, Eris was asking about returning outside. Bonus number one.
Phoenix suppressed a self-satisfied smile that her idea was such a good one. But it was all logic, really. She knew that when she had been handed over in her youth, while also conveniently forgetting she’s not exactly old herself, she preferred being outside in the beginning too, so most of her jobs had been garden related. As she aged, however, preferring to be prim and clean was a much more delightful experience. Who said looking beautiful wasn’t work?
“Oh yes, Mistress Iscah, I would love to, as Eris said, feel the wind beneath my wings.” Unfortunately for Phoenix, she didn’t actually quite get what Eris had meant by that. As a slave who not only enjoyed her post, but also enjoyed it so much that she never properly learned to fly well...let’s just say it will be an interesting conversation when the time comes.
The mare followed her Mistress, but also kept an eye on Eris as they were lead outdoors. Now that they were walking, it seemed like a good idea to see if Eris was limping at all. That was an injury that Phoenix wasn’t exactly certain about fixing, other than checking the hoof for obvious, irritating debris. Musculature and tendons and bones weren’t something Phoenix knew anything about and would take someone who was actually in the medical field to diagnose properly.
Phoenix was not appalled to see Iscah holding the door for them, but she did show the mare the proper respect by bowing her head deeply as she passed. Most of Valore would find the act terrible, for the situation should always, always be reversed. But things worked differently here. The slaves were deeply respected and, dare Phoenix think it, loved. It made her smile thinking about it.
Once outside, Phoenix took a deep breath and smiled up into the breeze. “Ah, yes, this is quite the feeling now isn’t it?” The feathered, dragon-winged mare gave her wings a good flap before resting them half open. Apparently she didn’t have the same desire for flight that Eris held. And how would Phoenix feel when she realized it was something she could have done?

Eris' head tilted, absorbing in what the eminent was saying as she turned to face the other entirely as she listened, tail swaying and brushing the ground as she responded much later when Iscah was finished speaking inside. "Alright... I hope I can get used to here fast as well." Hopefully she would.
What happened next made Eris very, very confused. Iscah opening the door for the two serviles quickly made her puzzled, knowing that it was a slave that was supposed to open the door for the eminent not the other way around. Though not one to possibly complain about a generous demeanor from such a lovely person, she waited till Phoenix passed by first before trotting outside with them, giving a thank you to Iscah as they went.
Going further along they were soon outside to the gardens where she asked, the small teenager taking in a big breath to enjoy the outside air where it wasn't as cramped like inside was. She felt more at home where the outside world waited, remembering when she relaxed in her breeder's garden basking in Ignacio's sun. Those were the good times she managed to have. Though forgetting those thoughts she gave a little assurance towards Iscah as she trotted forward towards the garden, she paused herself a distance away from both the fauna and the other two equines as she spread her wings wide and out to prepare for lift off.
Looking towards the sky, she crouched down like a cat, readying herself before jumping up and flapping her leathery wings to gain air; flapping in a rhythm to help her gain distance from the ground. Flap, flap, flap did the sound of her wings make, birds chirping in the background as she soon climbed higher and higher into Alya's skies, making sure she stayed within the property as she then began to soar through the air. Young wings caught on to the winds that made up the sky fast, letting them push her higher and higher into the air until she was quite a bit away from the ground, but she didn't stop there, continuing to climb further until she either couldn't due to effort or until she pierced through clouds. It was likely the former as she hovered for a second on her back before turning and diving downward, soon coming to a fast glide between lines of trimmed flowers, picking up loose petals and fallen leaves as she flew by with colors flying behind her and falling.
It was only after a few minutes of this did she then soon began to glide around close to the ground, enjoying the wind in her mane and the air cooling her skin. Of course she only viewed the gardens slightly in her spent air time but there was still plenty of time left in the day for the tour to go on.
She wondered if Phoenix knew how to fly as well.

Iscah
Iscah dipped her head as Phoenix joined and followed her; she was obviously very aware she knew the way, but that didn’t stop her in the slightest.
Once everyone followed her and thanked her, she dipped her head back and moved a few steps into the garden, standing off to the side. Occasionally letting her gaze wander and a flick of her tail; there was little else for movement from her as the two slaves did their own thing. Eris flying, and Phoenix stretching her wings. The later made her smile faintly show - she knew she wasn’t quite great at flight - if at all.
Iscah let her gaze wander for a second at the flowers the decorated the area; the roses were dying off, if not long dead at this point in the season. And while she enjoyed the rest of the gardens, and the flowers that still persevered, little compared to her personal fondness and biased in the roses at full bloom. Right before the petals began to fall, she knew this place was never quite as beautiful as it would ever be for those all too short of days. Sometimes she thought a Kaia earth blessing would be great, just so that beauty could never fade. But perhaps the fleeting is what made it beautiful.
She let out a sigh that no one would hear but her, her gaze glancing back up to Eris who seemed to be vastly enjoying the stretching their wings part. And even when she was up there, somewhere where Iscah could never be, she couldn’t feel an ounce of jealousy. It was funny in some regards - she used to be so jealous of some horses who could fly or swim. But these days those things didn’t really matter today. Perhaps she’d just gotten used to the idea that she never would reach those places, perhaps her heart had just turned towards more important places.
Iscah didn’t make any effort to move when Eris drew closer, letting her decide when she was done and wanted to move on, and no sooner. She remained silent throughout it all. One look would show she sure didn’t seem to mind.

Phoenix | Aodh Servile Slave Phoenix had never flown. There had been a time in her childhood when she thought of the idea, but it was struck down as gently as it could have possibly been.
“Keep your hooves on the ground where you belong, Phoenix. Your duty is to your Masters, not to the skies.”
Which of course brings us to the current times. Eris had wasted absolutely no time spreading her wings and taking to the air, which did three things. First, it made Phoenix lose her composure and audibly gasped. Second, it made Phoenix look to Iscah out of the corner of horrified eyes to see how her Mistress was taking the situation. And last but not least, it made Phoenix spread her own wings in reaction. She quickly snapped them against her side after a moment though.
She knew she couldn’t fly. Not yet at least. It wasn’t that she never wanted to learn, but she thought that it was completely against the rules. After all, most feathered servile slaves had their wings clipped for security. In her case, she didn’t need anything to prevent her from flying, she did that perfectly fine on her own by not knowing how and being the obedient thing she was. Yet here was young Eris, displaying a skill that Phoenix knew not how to do, and with a confidence that Phoenix also did not even have.
She wasn’t sure if she should just be impressed or scared.
Well, she decided she was a mix of both.
Eris had come back and landed after a few moments of Phoenix following her with her eyes as she was too shocked to move her head. She wondered why it was so mind-blowing. Eris was a pegasus, a pegasus! Like her! And the child knew how to fly! Her stomach soured at the thought that maybe Iscah would have liked to see her fly.
Finally, she turned her head, her jaw bobbing for a moment as she searched for the words. Words she had asked all those years ago.
Remember your composure, Phoenix! She chided herself.
Shaking herself a bit, she cleared her throat to speak.
“Mistress...is it possible...I..?” She couldn’t get it out. It felt foolish to ask, despite Iscah not even uttering a single disciplinary word at the filly; Iscah was fine with it. But even so, Phoenix was afraid to ask.

......
Taking a land on to hard garden paths, she eventually grounded herself to the earth below with young hooves indicating her landing by the clip sound they made, wings out stretched and giving a few more strong flaps before settling loose around her form. With a pleasant flight now completed she watched as dying rose petals flew along the wind thanks to her disturbing them, the on coming late fall to early winter air blowing them gently up higher and higher into the sky. It was beautiful.
Of course it couldn't keep her attention long, especially not with the reaction Phoenix was giving which made her raise an eyebrow in confusion. Why did the other looked so shocked? Was it because she was flying? Eris knew most slaves weren't supposed to fly, but not all slaves were disallowed the action... At least the slaves that were allowed to make sure they looked physically healthy.
"Uh... What's up with the look Phoenix?"
Frankly, she seemed to forget to see if Iscah was okay with what she had just done, but with no word from the eminent about her little stunt coming up in the few minutes after she had landed, made her not need to remember it as she tilted her head like a puppy towards Phoenix.
She went quiet as Phoenix decided to ask Iscah something. What it was Eris didn't hear fully, and wouldn't hear fully as she trotted backwards to go observe some of the gardens herself. She proceeded to walk through the rows and nearby the beds of the neatly cared for gardens, looking at all the pretty flowers and plants that were in here. Stopping nearby some red roses she perched her legs out wide and out stretched her neck to take a whiff of the flower despite the season slowly taking their life away. It still smelled fresh and alive despite the weather. With how she stood she looked like a young curious baby, and seemed to be one for a bit because she leaned forward a bit TOO much and fell into the bush some. Ouchie. At least she didn't hit any rose thorns! Though she was quickly faced with a tiny animal staring her down while she laid there on the mulch. A cute little chipmunk.
Nice

Iscah
Iscah turned to to Phoenix, the question leaving visible confusion on her face - a kitted brow, purses lips, and perked ears. She stared for a long moment, slow to test her voice, ”I’m not sure, I’ve never seen you fly, I can only assume it’s -“ she paused for a moment, her expression completely shifting through a series of emotions like a dawn sunrise - confusion, silliness, uncertainty, and finally falling to understanding. She had to blink a few extra times to let the last one settle in, before she seemed to be sure she understood Phoenix’s question. Then she was straightening up, fixing her composure and expression, and tilting her head. She couldn’t help taking a few steps closer to the pegasus, with a tilted head. ”Yes, of course.” Iscah had to fix her tone before she even spoke - because in her mind, it was obvious. But clearly not to Phoenix. But it had never occurred to her that the reason Phoenix never flew was because she thought she needed permission to. She’d just assumed she didn’t like to, or perhaps she was afraid of heights. Iscah has been so wrapped up in her own life she hadn’t even gave a moment of thought, simply forgetting that slaves normally were kept to the ground. It was clear Phoenix seemed to have placed that expectation on herself, and it made sense. Iscah has never told her otherwise.
Iscah dipped her head, almost a bit too quickly, looking up at Phoenix, giving her a longer look, ”you always were allowed to - and I’m so sorry for never mentioning that earlier. It didn’t even cross my mind, when it should have” She dipped her head again, ”I’d never keep you from the sky if you wish to be there.” She tilted her head, her voice soft, as if she was afraid she was overstepping boundaries, ”do you know how to fly?” There were horses that could teach her if that was the case. By the gods, it looked like Eris could happily. But she wasn’t going to start rambling on before she knew.
Iscah flicked her gaze to Eris for a second, who seemed to take her own time, exploring for a moment, so Iscah turned to stare back at Phoenix, as she waited for a reply.

Phoenix | Aodh Servile Slave Phoenix snapped her jaw shut. What would her breeders say, seeing her there with her mouth open like she was waiting to catch flies like a frog. Pitiful.
"Uh... What's up with the look Phoenix?"
The mare had barely heard the child speak, and she would have answered what she was honestly thinking, but Iscah had immediately distracted her; after all, the unicorn mare was her Mistress.
Was there really ever harm in asking? Her breeders had thought so. To stay grounded was to ensure she served her Masters to the best of her ability, without getting distracted by, what Phoenix now realized, was essentially a part of who she was. It was shocking that Eris, so young and tender, had not only accepted that part of herself but also was apparently allowed to do so before she came here. Iscah had never, ever mentioned it, and Phoenix never, ever asked. Therefore, it was Phoenix’s mistake and never Iscah’s, the slave concluded.
Assumptions make an ass out of oneself, and the donkey certainly felt like one. And she started sputtering after her Mistress finished talking.
“No, no Mistress. You have done nothing wrong, for it is I who failed to see.” She spoke hurriedly, pleadingly. “...I had wanted to, a long time ago. Only now that I see it before me from my equal do I see the possibility to do so.” She avoided Iscah’s gaze, embarrassed that she hadn't even thought to ask before now. Iscah was so special. “To answer your question...no, I do not. I had never learned because I thought I shouldn’t do so. I should have asked you long ago. I am sorry, Mistress.” Further embarrassment, but Phoenix decided she deserved that much for her own mistake. “I am foolish.” Large, curved ears folded back against her head for a moment, before moving to a neutral position. “I know you are who you are. I should have known. This must reflect very poorly on my attentiveness of you, Mistress.”
She stood there for a moment, before looking towards Eris who had, for a moment, disappeared into the flowers; Phoenix figured she had wanted to get a better look at the flowers. But she turned her eyes back to Iscah, the sparkle back within the multi-colored hues.
“I will not abuse it. If you allow me. I promise you it will never distract me from my duties. You come first. Always.” And then she dipped her head down, another bow, another mechanical, learned servile action, though done with extreme honesty from her heart.

Iscah
Iscah pulled her ears back when Phoenix started taking, wanting to cut her off immediately and correct her again, but she listened to what she said instead, out of respect - despite the urges to interrupt very much in place. And when Phoenix stopped talking, she gave a slow nod, but it slowly turned into a shake of her head, ”there is no blame to take, for you Phoenix, and you are not foolish.” She was slow to continue, ”is it not common for slaves to be grounded? I can not fault you for rules you were taught and expected to follow, while I had said nothing to contradict them.” She nodded again, slowly, but a bit quicker than before, her gaze emerging Phoenix’s again, as the pegasus admitted their truth. Part of it made Iscah so sad - for some slaves, she could understand being a flight risk. And for labour slaves, perhaps it was for the better, but for cases like Phoenix, she could never imagine keeping her to the ground.
She took a few steps closer to Phoenix, so that they stood side by side, and she gently nudged the Pegasus’ shoulder, looking over at her, ”there’s no need to be so critical of yourself, it was only a misunderstanding, and I don’t care to hear such words, apologizing for nothing wrong.”
Phoenix’s last words broke her in an oddly different way - as if she felt her heart break. Her smile was soft, slightly wavering as she looked over at her, a level gaze and a nod, ”you’re more than welcome to, Phoenix, you have my full permission. And I don’t have to worry, I more than trust you to use your judgment soundly.”
Iscah was about to turn to Eris, to ask them a question, when she turned, only to find the foal was gone. At first, she frowned, looking over at Phoenix for a second, ”did you see where she went?” her voice was more curious and confused than concerned - for she had been given no reason at this moment to assume Eris would be a flight risk, especially with her state and fear, that seemed obvious to Iscah.
She took a few steps, as if looking around a flower bush, but she quickly turned back to her company, ”mind joining me search for her? She couldn’t be far, but I don’t want her to get lost.” And Iscah was taking a few steps away, giving a look over her shoulder, and a head gesture for her to follow. Where she turned to look away, ”Eris?”

Phoenix | Aodh Servile Slave If only Phoenix knew what Iscah knew, maybe it would make Phoenix think far, far more differently than she had before, than she was doing. Maybe she would begin to realize how tainted her ancestors were. But her education was so ingrained, such a part of who she was, it pained her to see the pain in her Mistress eyes. The need to throw herself at Iscah’s hooves and beg for forgiveness was there, yet the unicorn had told her it was unnecessary.
Regardless of what Phoenix wanted to do, she stood at complete attention, every atom in her body wholly focused on Iscah’s face and eyes. She felt her body grow hot at the nudge, the touch setting a wildfire of emotions through her being. Mainly those of love, admiration and respect. The pegasus fought tears springing to her eyes, tears that wanted to fall upon the crystal hooves of her Mistress as she kissed them in utter reverence. But she managed to reign herself in from complete groveling, instead bowing as she usually did, blinking back the water in her eyes.
“Thank you so much, Mistress.”
When she stood back up, she looked to where Iscah had looked, and saw what Iscah had seen. Or rather, what Iscah hadn’t seen. At first, Phoenix felt a surge of panic. But then it quieted just as quickly. Eris had flown, and returned, as she would have been expected to. Despite not saying what she was doing, she had displayed the restrained to try to escape and simply came back. That thought had calmed the pegasus mare, so she looked to her Mistress.
“I saw her tumble into the flowers, but I saw her wing over there.” She gave a nod of her head. “Though I do not see her anymore. Maybe she found something that piqued her interest, Mistress.” The pegasus did not need to be asked twice. Even if she hadn’t wanted to follow Iscah to find the child (Phoenix would never turn down the opportunity to spend time with Iscah, let alone a new member of the family), the pegasus would have been obligated to join anyway. Good thing she wanted to go!
“Of course Mistress!” The tumbling feelings of regret regarding the misunderstanding was quickly dispersing. She trotted alongside the unicorn mare, feeling better about...well, everything. She would learn to fly. And she would make Iscah proud.

E R I S of Aodh
......
As Eris went along with exploring the gardens on her own, she continued to trot along through the stony paths that winded through the gardens, taking in the beauty of flowers as she did. Though after a bit of traveling she finally came to the source of the running water, watching a little equine made pond and waterfall running in front of her eyes, and it had fish! An array of colorful little fish! She hadn't really seen fish before, except for hippocampi that walked around Valore, so she had not much clue what they were but they looked pretty!
Scuttling over to the pond she dipped her head towards the water, her snoot almost touching it as she studied these little water creatures up close. There were so many. Big ones, small ones, dull ones, colorful ones. She loved all of them! So cute! So shiny! And... Slimy? Using her teke to touch one she found it was sort of slippery, and the one she touched decided to give her a little fishy kiss to her snout, making her shoot her head up and shake off the wet fish kiss. Weird!
Eris watched as these little fish were puckering up at the surface of the water, towards little bugs flying around and she wondered if they were hungry. So looking around she located where that dang dragonfly went and snatched it up in her grasp. Did fish eat dragonflies? She didn't know. Might as well try, and try she did, dangling the little bug above the water to watch a big fat fish come and gobble it up. So cool. Losing her attention from the fancy fish; however, she heard Iscah and Phoenix calling for her, making her remember she left them behind.... Hmm.... Iscah seems very lenient... She wouldn't mind a bit of a surprise would she? Time to test that.
Waiting until she saw the long ears of Phoenix over a bush she crouched low and scuttled to hide in some nearby plants, deciding to play a little game of hide and seek with the eminent and servile by hiding in some plants. Eris curled her tail and wings close to herself and she waited for the two to come to the pond, giggling quietly as she waited to pounce.
Time for a bit of hide and seek!

Iscah
Iscah dipped her head at the thanks by Phoenix, smiling kindly at her. There was nothing more to say - but she hope, now that things had been cleared up, that Iscah would see Phoenix fly sooner than later. It would make her happy to see her do so, after being grounded for her whole life.
Iscah paused and looked over at Phoenix, as she had seen more than herself. She let another smile slip, dipping her head in thanks, ”perfect, thank you! Maybe she’s gone further, but it’s a place to start, and that’s all that matters.”
Iscah took a few more steps, but turned to wait for Phoenix to join her, before she continued on, chuckling softly at how eager Phoenix was to be accompany her, as she trotted next to her. She let her gaze wander away after that, knowing Phoenix was next to her and stay there, while her gaze was busy looking for Eris.
The gardens didn’t stretch too far - they were spacious, but they didn’t continue forever. It wasn’t the longest walk to explore most of the crevasse, before a few entrances to different parts of the estates were visible. But she seemed to not pay them mind, assuming that the foal wouldn’t get so side-tract that they’d wander inside, without them. If she did - that might change her calm demeanour.
It was when they turned to a dead end, with no sigh of Eris, where Iscah paused. The pond in the side, trickling by, Iscah turned her head to look at Phoenix, while she cocked her head, an eyebrow raised.

Phoenix | Aodh Servile Slave Phoenix felt the familiar surge of excitement coursing through her body. Though a misunderstanding between Mistress and slave had happened, it ended in the best way possible. The pegasus was allowed to fly. It was only natural Phoenix would eventually want to do it, after all, she had wings for a reason. And now that she was absolutely sure that she could fly, Eris was probably the best person to teach her. Phoenix could keep an eye on the new slave, while also learning something that should have been learned many years ago.
The gardens were beautiful, even if many of the plants were dying off due to their being out of season. Even if they were now looking for Eris, it still gave Phoenix time to enjoy the outdoors in a controlled manner. She took in a breath and smile, letting it out slowly and methodically. Yes, the earlier transgressions had gone, replaced with an innate happiness. Like Iscah, she paid no mind to the entrances to the rest of the estate; why would Eris enter without them anyway? Unless someone had come to get her anyway...but Phoenix doubted it.
Soon they hit a dead end, the pond off to the side drawing Phoenix’s attention. The mare looked into the water, spying the fish she had looked at many a time, before she turned to look at her Mistress again. The mare seemed to be confused, and Phoenix nodded.
“She should be here, of course.” The pegasus stated, turning her head this way and that. “Surely she didn’t just disappear.” She chuckled at the thought, even though with Alya’s blessing it made it entirely possible.
“Eris? Eris, dear, where did you go?” Phoenix began, trotting down the side of gardens and looking into the flowers. It was possible the girl had gone into the plants themselves.

Iscah
Iscah’s look towards Phoenix lasted a few moments, before her gaze turned towards the area surrounding them, eyes drifting over the plants. For a moment it almost all felt too eerie, no movement but the constant circling of the fish that seemed to go forever and as if it would continue for it, too - the occasional darting away they did, the only break in their rhythmic movements.
Phoenix took initiative before her, speaking and starting her own search, while Iscah remained in place for a few seconds, her gaze scanning the flowers a second time. A flicker of doubt ran through her as nothing seemed to stir - some part of her wanted to let her blessing take height and tell her where the foal was, but she didn’t quite let herself fall to such desperate measures, yet. Instead, the Em took part in her own search, Moving to get a closet look, falling in beside Phoenix, without standing over her shoulder to look everywhere she did.
It was impossible to miss the strike of the tail flag into view - and from the quiet demeanour that followed them, for half a second, Iscah was almost sure she had a heart attack. After she stilled herself, it wasn’t too hard to pinpoint the small movements that the foal sent shivering through the bushes as they scattered along the ground, for what Iscah could assume.
A moment later, Eris was popping out of the bushes, in an attempt to scare them. Even if Iscah was expecting it, she still pulled her head back, so her chin was touching her neck, and stared at the slave. Eris was now covered in mud and dirt from the garden, and gods knew what else - enough to probably normally send a heart attack to any slave traders who saw a slave of her breeding in such a condition. She’d need a bath, and probably another fresh state of bandages sooner than later to remove all the dirt; but she wasn’t too concerned.
A small smile tried to best to wiggle onto her lips, Iscah had to stifle it. She had a lot of siblings - this kind of behaviour was very familiar; although perhaps not from Eris herself.
”Hmm,” Iscah started, taking a moment to gently dust some dirt from Eris’ cheek with her Teke, ”I’m not sure I know you, for the last horse I saw that looked like you had been a lot cleaner.” Her voice was soft, her grin now apparent, ”what do you think, Phoenix?” she looked over at the Pegasus - who was probably internally dying at this site of how dirty she was, knowing her - which made Iscah stifle a laugh, but she continued, ”does this look like Eris to you?” Her eyes creased from her smile, she gave a quick wink to her.
