Phoenix | Aodh Servile Slave Phoenix didn’t exactly believe that Eris had crawled into the flowers. The reasoning for that thought was simply because the girl had tumbled into the flowers earlier and disappeared. It was a fleeting thought, one she had started to brush away as she went to turn her head. The something moved below her, popped out before her forelegs. She jerked her head up in surprise, her ears folded back against her head, somehow managing to suppress an embarrassing shriek.
It was Eris.
For a moment, she was frozen in place, not out of fear of course, but surprise. Eyes had been wide, lips twitching, but she shook her head and succeeded in uttering a laugh. Unfortunately for her, she had missed the tail that would have given her a moment to compose herself before the actual scare. Iscah was lucky to have seen it!
“Goodness you gave me a fright!” Her voice was exasperated; apparently she had held her breath caught in her throat. She let out another little laugh, before looking to Iscah as the mare started brushing some dirt from Eris’ face. She tilted her head a little bit in confusion, before she realized where Iscah was going with her comments. A smile snuck on the pegasus’ lips, and she looked over the youth. Ugh, so dirty! But at least the child was enjoying herself. Phoenix wasn’t going to enjoy helping the girl bathe though!
“My word, I do believe you are right, Mistress.” She stood at Iscah’s side, turning her head this way and that as she observed the child before them. “Indeed I do believe Eris had been clean unlike this raggamuffin.” Multi-hued teke plucked stray leaves and twigs from the girls mane, leaving the flowers though.
“Actually, Mistress, I think I see a little bit of Eris under all that dirt.” Phoenix made her point by leaning in a little closer. “Hard to tell! I think we should ask a bar of soap to see what it thinks!” She winked over to the unicorn, tucking her wings against her sides.

Proceeding to let off a cheeky grin at the reactions the two gave, she cackled in delight after she managed to scare the other two while skipping around a bit like a foal. "Haha I managed to scare you~!" She chanted as she hopped around Phoenix, her tail flapping up and down as she did circles around the other servile before stopping as she felt teke brush some dust off her face.
”Hmm. I’m not sure I know you, for the last horse I saw that looked like you had been a lot cleaner.”
Glancing over to Iscah she gave her a look as she puffed up her cheeks a bit. "Of course you know me, I came here with you!" The tone of it was slightly lost on Eris since she never had encountered such type of playful words.
“My word, I do believe you are right, Mistress. Indeed I do believe Eris had been clean unlike this raggamuffin.”
Eris let off a huff as she puffed up like a fuzzy bird. She wasn't no ragamuffin. Of course now she caught on to what they're getting at, feeling leaves and twigs being plucked from her mane as she proceeded to shake off some dirt and plant from herself. Hearing the two play around with words, she eventually heard the word soap and realized that she MAAAAY need to clean off before going too far into the tour. Oops. Plus she needed to get rid of these flowers! Dang things were tangled up on her.
Using her own teke she tried to take the flowers out of her mane, though it was definitely taking some time to do since they were stuck a bit. "Guess we can't go much farther in the tour till I'm not a dirt monster anymore?" Giving a sheepish smile she did manage to get a rose or two out of her mane. Though she would certainly need help for the rest of them.
Beginning to use some force she plopped her hooves down on the ground with more security so she could pull these cursed flowers out from her hair, having to use a lot of weaving and pulling just to free a bit from her head. With all that force though she was bound to fall flat on her rump, and that's pretty much exactly what happened next, the little dragon pegasus falling flat on her rear and ending up on her back with her legs flailing a bit like a wobbly baby deer.
Hey at least this means that the next part of the tour is towards the bathroom! After all who doesn't like a bit of steam and hot water to relax the body?

Iscah
Iscah stifled at laugh at how Phoenix got scared, how she joined in her jest, and how she, too, was picking out debris from Eris’ coat. It looked like the kid was at least having fun, by the way they were laughing and reacting. She felt no ounce of disapproval in her - perhaps the motherly instinct in her too overbearing, perhaps it was just who she was, to not mind such odd behaviour from a slave.
Phoenix seemed to catch on right away to her jest, but Eris seemed to take a moment though. But soon enough, she seemed to realize. Iscah’s smile didn’t disappear, turning mischievous, she raised an eyebrow and gave a side look to Phoenix, nudging her shoulder again. ”By the Gods, I do believe you are right, Phoenix,” she tilted her head and gave a light tsk, pulling out a twig, herself from Eris’ mane, ”I wonder how one could get so dirty.”
Eris seemed to realize her own state and tried to fix some of her appearance, before stating that they needed a bath. For some reason, that made Iscah laugh the most - a short burst, ending in a chuckle. ”I do believe that’s the case. I think there’s a few horses who would cry at the sight of all the dirt you’d track through the halls.”
Iscah took a few steps back, tilting her head, looking at both, ”you two ready to leave, in that case? The bath isn’t far, just through a door, but that can wait a moment if you’d like.” She turned to Phoenix, speaking softly and quietly ”or would you like to try and fly first, since we’re out here? I bet Eris would help you a bit, if you’d like. I don’t mind waiting.” It was nice that Eris was a dragon Pegasus. Because, she figured feathered and webbed wing flight were bound to be different; and clearly Eris knew how to fly the way Phoenix would need to be taught. Which was nice; a happy coincidence.

Phoenix | Aodh Servile Slave Phoenix let out a little laugh. Her mistress was such a pleasure to quip alongside with. Even if they were teasing a child, it was all in good fun, after all. Not to mention it was working wonders on the girls tension that seemed to have been feeling earlier. She was relaxing so much already! Her being bought by Iscah was, in Phoenixes opinion, the best thing for her. She had freedoms she may not have had before, and perhaps soon, a flying buddy.
“I haven’t the foggiest idea, Mistress.” She smirked as she replied at Iscah’s comment about how someone could get so dirty. It did sort of boggle her mind, but she knew that she herself was just more careful as she didn’t like being dirty herself. Prim and proper, clean as a whistle! Those are the words Phoenix lives by.
The child bounced around her, and for a split second she felt a twinge of jealousy. But it passed as soon as it came upon her, for she knew that even though there was little play in her own childhood, her life now well made up for it. Let the child have her fun for as long as she could. She smiled softly at the thought.
Turning her head to Iscah as she spoke, she nodded. And, realizing that Iscah had leaned in to speak to her, she felt herself freeze in place for a moment.
Fly? Right here? Right now?
Eyes turned skyward and she stared into the blue abyss. It truly seemed much more magical now, now that she could enter that realm freely. She lowered her head and looked back to Iscah, feeling her face grow warm again.
“...I...I would love that, actually…” She looked to Eris, ignoring the dirt and instead almost seeing a reflection of herself. A smaller one.
“Eris,” Phoenix began, speaking gently and perhaps a bit pleadingly, “Can you teach me to fly? I’m afraid I have never learned how. I can move them of course.” And she did so, spreading them slightly so she didn’t hit Iscah or the child, moving them up and down. “But flying is a whole other matter. I promise I’ll be a fast learner.” Which was entirely true, Phoenix was quite good at picking things up, as was required of her. Though she wasn’t too confident considering she was some years older than the youth.

”I do believe that’s the case. I think there’s a few horses who would cry at the sight of all the dirt you’d track through the halls.”
Is what Eris heard her master say. That sentence very easily caused the little servile to giggle, the slave proceeding to roll over from her position and get back up on to her lanky legs as she faced the two. Very soon though she could see Iscah was whispering something to Phoenix. What it was seemingly put a bit of enchantment on the other servile's face, noticing that the other looked towards the skies that the goddess Alya ruled. She wondered why. That question was easily answered within the next few seconds as she stood there.
Phoenix wants to learn how to fly? Huh...
Staring blankly at the other slave for a second she thought for a moment, though she got a smile on her face soon after. She'd have a flying buddy if she helped Phoenix learn how to fly! How fun that would be! So taking a breath she faced Phoenix. "Okay! I can try to teach you to fly Phoenix." Though that statement was said before she noticed something specific about Phoenix's wings, her smiling dropping a bit when she saw feathers along the limbs of the other's wings. Oh dear. That wasn't exactly good. She didn't know how easy it was to fly with both dragon wings that had feathers on them, but she was quick to assume that this may be a bit difficult.
Glancing around the area that they stood in seemed a good enough place to try and learn. Yeah it was in a garden, but it was enough space. Plus all the topiary and pristine plants would make decent cushions if Phoenix crashed. She might as well start explaining.
After waiting for Iscah and Phoenix to respond with something, Eris proceeded to start explaining how to fly and the basics of flight as best a young teenager could, having to mull over her thoughts and gather things before speaking.
"Alright. Well I'm going to say now that I may ramble a bit, since I'm not an expert in these things with trying to explain stuff and what not. Though I can tell you now that it's good your wings are relatively similar to mine, even though that all the feathers at the top of them may cause issues. No matter. Let me tell you the basics of flight, for pegasi with dragon and or bat wings."
Eris started off, taking a nice deep breath to prepare herself for the long explanation ahead and many demonstrations Phoenix would need to understand.
"So. To start off I can tell you what the differences between pegasi with feathered wings, and pegasi with leathery membrane wings are. For a pegasus with feathery wings, they can't feel the entirety of their wings due to them being mostly made of feathers. So because of the fact they have feathers, when in flight and making sharp turns, they take longer and lose more speed and momentum when doing so since they can't do tiny changes in their wings on the fly. Haha! Get it? Fly?"
She simply couldn't help herself but make a pun.
"Anyway. As for a pegasus that has these sorts of wings." She lifted up her own when saying that. "As opposed to a feathered pegasus, those with these types of wings are able to feel the entirety of their wings, unless of course you have nerve problems. Now this means unlike feathered pegasi we are able to make much faster and minute changes in our wings which allow us to do sharper and faster turns, alongside making it easier to change what we are doing mid flight. Unfortunately, this comes at the cost of our wings being much more fragile, which means that if any membrane is torn enough it could completely ruin your ability to fly. Which is where feathered pegasi are lucky since they can simply remove damaged feathers and let new ones regrow, making them able to always be relatively more risky when flying."
It was likely a lot for Phoenix to take in, but the other didn't have to worry about the length of explanation that was going to occur if that was the case. Since Eris was soon clearing her throat and moving on to the other more important, and exciting pieces of information that Phoenix needed to know, keeping her wings outstretched as she began talking once again.
"Now that the differences between feathers and leather are done, you should probably get the idea of how to work your wings. To start this off there's a few adjustments that you should remember in your wings so that you can fly more easily. Though when you start trying you should be careful. Wouldn't want to tear your wings."
It was after that did Eris go through all wing changes Phoenix would have to memorized and do during flight. It went across the points on changing the fingers in your wings to either go left, right, up or down, plus Eris showed Phoenix how a dragon winged pegasi would likely fly, suggesting the other watch some bats or pygmy dragons in flight in case the other didn't understand too clearly. It was at the end of that did she mention that the feathers may be a problem and that she should be extra cautious when trying to fly, saying that anything that covers the important bits of the leathery wings - Aka the main limb and most of the membrane between each fingers - can affect and mess up flight, causing potential for a bad crash or difficulty in flight.
When asked how she knew this she explained that when her breeder didn't want her flying, they would put some weighted rings with silk and jewelry on the main limb of her wings, causing them to be too heavy and too risky to fly with. She had only flown with such things once before knowing she wouldn't fly with them on, having had a bad crash after the jewelry and silk combined with the weight of the rings, prevented her from being able to keep herself in the air and making her fall into someone's gardens. It's also the reason why pegasi with dragon wings only really pierce the ends of the membrane of their wings. The air flow isn't affected nearly at all at the back end of the wings thus making it a safe place to put any lightweight modifications on.

Iscah
Iscah watched as the question she posed hit Phoenix. From her nod, to the look she got, and the way she froze. Some part of her smiled, just a bit, at how shocked she seemed at the suggestion. And the smile didn’t disappear, not one bit, as Phoenix embraced her suggestion. They’d already spent a bit in the gardens, but she wouldn’t mind spending more - not just because they were her favourite part of the house, but she genuinely wanted to see Phoenix fly. Or at least try. A part of really wanted to see her first flight; the thought of that warmed Iscah’s insides. And especially with how ecstatic and quick Phoenix took to the suggestion. It anything, it made the Em happier to stall more, in order for this.
And Phoenix wasn’t shy, asking Eris for help - exactly as Iscah hoped. Right now, despite the younger horses’ odd behaviour others might not be fond of - Iscah was quite happy about her impulses to spend more than she should on another slave, she perhaps didn’t need. But it felt well worth the sigh, or more, Geremia might give later when they found out.
And when Eris quickly agreed - perhaps a bit confused, Iscah took a few steps back, giving both horses enough space to open their wings if they needed it.
Iscah watched Eris and Phoenix for a long moment from her place, standing perhaps awkwardly to the side for a minute or two. And once Iscah seemed to realize that she wasn’t needed for this part of - well, anything - she took a few more steps back, so that she was closer to the wall, where she laid down in the grass, next to the fish pond. She seemed indifferent as her tail leaned off the side of it, and some of it getting wet, seemingly not even noticing as some fish but at it too. Despite the movement, aside from looking down once or twice to look at where her feet were, her gaze didn’t falter, her ears remained perked, and smile soft and caring, as she watched the scene folding in front of her.
It seemed to go on for awhile, so Iscah let her head lower, so that her chin rested in the grass, and even as her eyes were heavy lidded, she still watched, listening to the kid talk with more information than Iscah would have expected. Most of it, she didn’t remember, because none of it effected her. And she’d never use. But talking and flying were much different things, and she awaited the second, much more than the first, meanwhile.

Phoenix | Aodh Servile Slave Phoenix knew she was holding her breath. She wasn’t sure why until Eris said she would try to teach her; apparently she was nervous that Eris would say no, or some actual excuse that made entirely too much sense. But relieved, and excited, she felt like a tiny filly again. Or rather, how a tiny filly should feel. A sense of wonder and excitement with the world, not learning how to serve and obey at tender ages where foals should should be playing with friends.
She dashed the mutinous thought from her mind. She would never leave Iscah’s side, especially if those damned Vindicators tried to liberate her.
Loosening her teeth she had suddenly been clenching, she listened to Eris’ extremely lengthy explanation about the differences between a pegasi’s type of wings. Phoenix had liked to think she knew a lot, but she almost flushed at the fact she knew hardly anything about her own body. She slightly twisted her head to peer over her shoulder at her wings and the feathers that may or may not cause issues with flying, and she caught sight of Iscah settling down by the water feature. She smiled at the mare, before returning her attention back to Eris.
Phoenix laughed, though it wasn’t really directed towards Eris’ pun. It was more so that she felt so incredibly happy, happy that an old, childish dream was in the works of coming true, and because Eris was quickly becoming integrated in their little family under Iscah. There was only a hoof-ful of things that could make this day even better, but Phoenix was too immersed in the teaching to think about those things right now.
When Eris spoke about her wings and lifted them to emphasize the point, Phoenix found herself naturally copying the movement. Fully feathered pegasi cannot make quick turns, check. Dragon and bat wing pegasi can make those turns at the cost of having more fragile wing structure, check. Tearing membranes can cost the ability to fly, check. Feathered pegasi could simply remove ruined feathers and regrow them, check check. Despite storing the knowledge in her brain, her mind was indeed spinning. This might be more difficult than Phoenix anticipated.
The next part of the flying class, as Phoenix had so gleefully dubbed it in her mind, was learning about all the nuances of flying with her type of wings for the most part. She did have some feathers, after all. As Eris explained and showed what to do, Phoenix had her wings out to copy. The mare found that these actions came pretty naturally, but that was likely because she had full control of her wings anyway. She might not be able to fly, yet, but that didn’t mean her wings were limp masses of flesh.
“How do you know all of this?” Phoenix said, still practicing some of the movements. Eris had replied in turn, and Phoenix felt a little put off at her breeders. Surely it would have made her more priceless to just learn how to fly and then never actually do so. She, of all pegasi, was probably the least flight risk in all of Valore! Biting back the insulting notion, she found herself wincing as Eris explained her little jaunt of trying to fly with heavy equipment on. Ouch.
“I will definitely remember that.” Nothing heavy while flying, check. When Eris stopped talking, Phoenix eyed the sapphire abyss above them. The desire to fly had never been so strong, even the pegasus mare was surprised with herself. She had suppressed the desire for so long, and so harshly, that when those floodgates opened, it was all she could do from simply jumping into the air right then and there. No, this had to be done carefully, or she could ruin all chances to fly ever again.
Swallowing, she spread her wings wide. She looked over to each wing as she flexed the fingers within, the subtle muscles that shifted within the membrane. She wasn’t quite sure why these movements weren’t entirely hard to perform, but she quickly realized that she didn't have any air currents under her wings yet. She was simply standing still with her wings outstretched, anyone could do that! She looked back up into the sky, her soft features hardening with determination.
She took a few moments to practice the wing movements, bringing them down as if she had air to hold onto. She felt silly, like a foal who was still a ways off from actual flight but was practicing anyway. But she couldn’t care. All of this had a purpose. It would be devastating if she hurt herself, even more so to her pride. She wanted this first moment in the air to be good. Not great, not perfect, just good. Good was as high of her hopes she would get.
Lifting her wings, she took in a deep breath and leaned down, much like Eris had done before when Phoenix had her entire system shocked at the child's gall. But here she was, about to do the same things. It felt like electricity was coursing through her, vibrating her muscles as she prepared to do something she had never done in her entire life. And with one brisk movement, she leapt into the air fearlessly. Her wings came down and caught the bubble of air, and drew her upwards.
She didn’t exactly fly. Nor was it graceful. Firstly, because she needed to strengthen her muscles for any sort of long distance. Secondly, because there was a moment of fear. It wasn’t a fear of heights or fear of falling, it was the fear of failing. But she managed to go a dozen yards, beating her wings intensely enough about 6 feet off the ground to send leaves and petals scattering. Despite how ungraceful it was, Phoenix had succeeded in tapping into each muscle necessary to actually achieve those few moments of flight. Though her muscles screamed for rest, she managed to touch down without flailing her limbs too much.
“I...I did it!” She sounded shocked, but triumphant, turning to give Eris and Iscah and uncharacteristic grin as she folded her tired wings to her sides. Flying did more than give the mare a taste of freedom, it helped break the ice. She wasn’t that same, stoic slave whose manners and appearance meant everything to her. Her body was shiny with a thin layer of sweat, some rogue leaves and petals sticking to her. She didn’t look unlike Eris. She looked almost like an entirely new horse.
But then she regained her composure.
“Mistress did you see? I just need more training.” She turned around in a small, delicate circle, admiring her wings as if actually seeing them for the first time. “In time, it will become as beautiful as Eris’. Thank you!” Probably the greatest compliment coming from someone with a slight case of narcissism.

E R I S of Aodh
......
While teaching Phoenix it did sort of seem the child's explanation did go on forever, what with how lengthy it was and the sort, the foal watched Phoenix look at their own appendages with some wonder, the other moving their wings relatively easily. That was good. That was very good. No problem with wing movement meant it was likely that Phoenix could fly within the first session, though of course this said nothing about the lack of exercise to such wings. She couldn't easily see the musculature state thanks to all the feathers, but based on the area around the base of the shoulder and the lack of definition with the feathers, Phoenix never even did warm up exercises with her wings. Eris herself couldn't imagine not being able to do such a thing. It was simply habit.
Moving on in the conversation she heard Phoenix spoke. “How do you know all of this?” Those words threw Eris off a bit though it was easy to come back and answer... Later of course. After she could see Phoenix fly. Waiting for the other to begin wing movements she herself replied with information of a different kind. "Now since you haven't ever flown before you should probably be careful. You likely have never exercised your wings much so it can quickly tire you if you strain too much." With the warning out of the way, she watched the other slave prepare to fly, only to have the results of a successful first lift off hit her in the face. Stray leaves and petals smacking her already dirty fur.
Seeing Phoenix soon land, the other's fur shiny with first flight sweat and some debris she grinned at the other's successful first time. "You did it! You managed to fly for a bit!" She cheered with excitement for the other, removing some petals and leaves from both herself and Phoenix since once smacked her flat dab in the face. Waiting for Phoenix's little giddy show to cease she flapped her tail a bit. "That was good. That was really good in fact. Usually I've only seen other first fliers make it eight feet. You did more than that! Now obviously you're tired which makes sense. You'll have to build up your wing muscles and train a lot. Plus you'll need to be taught more in order to grasp plenty of aspects of flight, since those were just the basic things! Though for now it seems like two of us need a bath now... Or... Three if any of those petals and strewn up dirt hit Iscah." She glanced at the Emin, hoping those few seconds of flight didn't blow too much stuff her way, since the beats of wings can be really strong when throwing around air in lift off.
Until Iscah mentioned something about possibly being a bit dirty at the moment, she pondered over the question earlier and soon got the other's attention. "Phoenix, about your question earlier of how I know all this. I was produced out of a breeding program. Phoenix flame pegasi, or if born with rare dragon wings, Dragon's breath pegasi. Basically my entire family line with all my siblings and what not are... Pegasi. With most having feathered wings. We were taught how to fly so our muscles stay strong and healthy, though we were only prevented from flying if we turned out to be a flight hazard. I learned all of it from watching my siblings and then working on myself. We were also taught to fly because well... Some Emins like to have showy events and wouldn't want to bother hiring performers, or they want mail and stuff delivered quicker than a grounded equine could."
Eris stopped her explanation there, knowing it made enough sense as to why she had such wide knowledge of the subject of flight. In fact Phoenix's little thought was right. Her and her siblings being taught to fly and them not doing so had made them more expensive to purchase when they were being sold off. Of course the little slave wouldn't mention that the weights put on her occasionally back with her old master were more for decoration, but it was an extra layer of security in case any child seemed to be a bit... Finicky. It helped to weed out the risky ones. Of course a test run of such things wasn't bad. She knew her previous master Eros expected them to test the weights. It was only the ones to attempted flight even after knowing the difficulty of the weights, or trying to take such chains off that were spotted as being risks. It was simply precaution. A test to give more training to the flight prone slaves.
Though it was only once, did she know of what her Master did to flight prone slaves that continually failed to prove they did not need such precautions... and to slaves that proved they could not be ever trusted to keep the weights on.
Memories began to flow once more. It was only a short one of course. Though still prominent.
Eris could hear screaming from down the hall, sobbing of one of her siblings.
She was only eleven now, and the loud sound echoing through the hallways such as this scared her.
She could hear her master. Eros was angry. One of her siblings had done something truly bad. What it was. It was hard to tell. The little servile too scared to go to close to the source, only able to pick out words from her breeder's angry shouting when she felt herself was far close enough.
From what could be heard her brother Gin had once again failed to prove he was trust worthy. The fourteen year old having tried to fly once again without permission. Only this time did he do something taboo. Gin had removed his bridle and attempted escape, trying to fly away. Eros had caught him and by the sound of the cries it was obvious what the punishment for such treachery was. Only a moment of silence went by before another scream ripped out of her brother, sicking cracks and crunches reverberating through the halls.
If a slave couldn't be trusted with flight.
Then they would never fly again.
Wings broken and bones snapped, feathers torn off in a bloody mess.
Gin was gone the next day.
The only remnants left being blood stained, golden feathers.
Eris awoke minutes after another zoning out episode, shaking her head violently like before to rid such memories from her head. No! Those were in the past! Forgetting such horrible memories in favor of trying to keep the mood light, she decided to speak. "I think that now Phoenix knows the basics of flight, I think we should go inside and get cleaned up. A hot bath would certainly make both Phoenix and I look much more well done if we possibly run across anyone else in the household while on the tour. Emin Iscah."

Iscah
Iscah flicked her tail boredly, every few seconds, ignoring the gentle pulling of the hair as some of the pond fish greedily tried to take a bite, before realizing it wasn’t good, and flicking away to go find something that was edible. Iscah did manage to find a few of her glances returning to them once or twice, but for the most part, her whole uninterrupted attention was pulled towards the two horses in the garden - especially towards the older one.
She couldn’t exactly hear everything that was being said, and honestly, most of what she was hearing, just passed straight through one ear, through her brains and out the other ear, without even stopping. There was no hope on her ever trying to recite the conversation, despite her unwavering attention. She couldn’t care less about al the technical talk she’d never use, being thrown out in front of her. And it quite showed.
But when the body language of the horses in front of changed did, when she knew Phoenix was going to take flight, she straightened up, tensed a bit, and pulled her head off the ground, forward to watch, as if the mere idea of flight was suspenseful, and she’d never seen it happen before. And maybe it was because she hadn’t - at least not from Phoenix. Part of her wondered if this was what it felt like - being a parent, watching a foal take their first steps. Because she’d met most of her own siblings, late after that. And those were the closest things she had to her own children - except perhaps her slaves. Despite her overboard motherly instincts that shone almost constantly when given the chance.
She watched Phoenix, completely still, as she strained to lift herself - getting pretty far, for a first flight. It was by no means an arial show, but it was a start - and it filled her heart with deep joy, the moment Phoenix touched back down on the ground. And seeing Phoenix’s sudden joy and shock, Iscah was on her feet a second later, next to them both a bit too quickly. She had her own wicked smile - soft, yet a clear glint of pride in her eyes. She listened to Phoenix walk on, twirl around in her own excitement. And Iscah couldn’t help herself - she laughed; a loud, good natured bellow that almost echoed through the garden. Something about how un-prim Phoenix looked, to hers and Eris’ joy, to everything about it all, it sent unfiltered joy through her, expressed in that laugh.
Iscah was silent for a second once she caught her breath - she used her teke to pick out a leaf from Phoenix’s hair, before her smile slit her lips again, and she nudged gently, her shoulder. Some part of her wanted more contact, but it felt improper in the moment. But her joy and pride was all over her face. ”You did so well! In no time, you’ll be soaring everywhere! I knew you could do it!” She turned to Eris, her smile softly crinkled the side of her eyes, ”Thank you so much, I know you didn’t have to help, but it means a lot that you did.” And will, she hoped. But she wasn’t going to force that from her, especially right now, when she was still letting the kid have a week off from obligations. She wasn’t going I forget that right now.
She dipped her head, taking a few steps back from both the horses - she laughed again, as she noticed the state both were in; she’d seen it, but hadn’t really remembered it. And a glance at herself - she wasn’t that bad. Most of the dirt hadn’t been flung as far as she’d been. But her mane was a bit tasseled and there was a bit of dirt on her pelt, where she’d nudged Phoenix. So she nodded, gesturing with her head. ”You’re quite right, thankfully it’s not far.” She paused, for a moment, plucking out a petal from Phoenix’s mane, before laughing softly again. And then she turned around and went through the nearest door.
She was quick to do her best to wipe off her hooves at the mat - the least amount of dirt the better, hoping the others would take her cue. And then it was a corner and a door away, entering a large room, with more than one bath, big enough to make a commoner jealous at the sight of one - let alone multiple.
She turned her back to both of the horses who’d followed her, turning to one of the mirrors on the wall, fixing her appearance, and washing off the specks of dirt she could spot on her with the tub of water kept nearby, and a cloth - honestly the dirt was more than she expected, noticeable in this light. But she kept her mind on herself, letting the other two have a bit of time and privacy for a second to do their own rituals aaa she fixed her own imperfections.

Phoenix | Aodh Servile Slave Phoenix could still feel her heart pounding in her chest. It was hardly caused by overexertion, but rather the incredible excitement she had from the gift of flight. She couldn’t stop smiling. It was hard not to smile when one felt happy, even one with training to keep herself in check at all times. It actually felt good to let go for once. For once, of course. She’d rein herself in as she got better at flying, it was just the first time excitement was all.
She looked to Iscah again as her Mistress pulled a leaf from her neck. Then came the nudge. If the two had been more open about what they were thinking about, it would have been funny. Phoenix would hardly have minded additional contact, but she, like Iscah, would have agreed on it being improper. It was a fleeting moment, but Phoenix was beaming at the look her Mistress gave her.
“Yes, soon I shall be.” She nodded her head gently, trying to keep her excitement at bay. She had her moment, time to bring it back in. “And yes,” She turned to Eris, smiling down at the filly. “I have much to thank you for. I hope that I get better enough to fly as well as you. Either way, I won’t disappoint you. I will get these wings in shape.” To emphasize her point, she stretched her wings. Yes, they were tired.
Iscah gestured for them to follow her to the baths, but not after plucking another petal from Phoenix’s person. The gesture was heartwarming. She followed Iscah closely, ensuring to clean her hooves as well as her Mistress had done, not that she really needed to follow the cue; it was pretty ingrained to do so. She knew this area well, the bath was her guilty pleasure. Well, maybe not guilty, but it was certainly a pleasure!
The numerous baths seemed most obvious with a house full of...well, a full house. Phoenix thought it impudent to even think such things about her Mistress’ mother. Since Iscah was hardly dirty, the mare had gone off to a nearby mirror to fix herself with a basin of water rather than a whole bath. Phoenix, on the other hand, had started the process of filling one of the baths.
“I figured it might be easier to bathe together, rather than having to rinse two separate tubs afterwards. Unless you’d rather have your own bath, I certainly don’t mind.” She spoke to Eris as steam started to rise from the floor. As the tub was filling, she turned to find some of her favorite bath salts and soap among the various other products on the wall, which were more than plenty. They weren’t super expensive salts or soaps, considering her status, but it was a luxury she was allowed, and one she loved. She also grabbed a couple of small towels to scrub with.
Once she was satisfied with her choice, she trotted back to the filling tub and deposited the items near the tap. She dipped the tip of her tail into the water to test the temperature, and finding it was almost perfect, she adjusted the tap accordingly. Though she was a child of fire, with a name that suggested an inferno, Phoenix didn’t particularly enjoy scalding water. Who would have thought?
The salts were deposited into the bath to let them dissipate within the water. These particular bath salts were infused with a variety of herbal leaves, lemon peel and ginger root extract. It was a blend that supposedly boosted ones energy levels, and considering how tired Phoenix felt, she was sure the salts would help her regain her strength. By now the basin was half full, and Phoenix stepped down into it. Her sides twitched from the sudden submersion, she grabbed one of the towels for herself, before passing one to Eris.
“Here you go! Hop in or start another one.” She gave the girl a wink, before she started scrubbing the sweat from her body. It wasn’t long before her pelt would be glistening clean again. Two baths in a day? Who was complaining? Certainly not Phoenix!

E R I S of Aodh
......
"It was no problem for me to do. Especially since It would be good to have a flight buddy in this household."
Is what came out of Eris's mouth, shaking off a bit of dirt in the process as she watched the two have a small nudge of each other. Proceeding to pluck another stray leaf off of Phoenix like Iscah was doing, her tail fanned out as she nodded to Phoenix's words, soon following the two inside when they began to move. She of course did stop on the mat when she saw Iscah wiping her hooves, and looking down at her own... Well she needed to do a lot of wiping. So proceeding to wipe all of her dirt and mulch stained hooves on the mat below her, similarly to a cat who just took a big number two in their litter box and is trying to cover it up, she soon scuttled quickly after the other two when she got most of the dirt off. Unfortunately, some would trek behind her but that could be fixed fast.
Stepping into the bathroom, she could see Iscah was using a basin to clean herself and Phoenix running a bath. Walking over to Phoenix she watched the other put in some fancy things into the water and on its edge while the tub got full.
“Here you go! Hop in or start another one.”
It was a bit sudden being given a towel by Phoenix, having been paying attention to the tub though not wanting to waste more water - especially since there are refugees outside the city that need clean water - she slunk on into the bath with Phoenix like a slippery little weasel. Straight after she popped her head up from out under the nice warm water, using it to help soften the various plants stuck to her, so she could remove them and place them on a clean edge of the tub to be thrown away later.
It would definitely take a bit of cleaning for Eris before she was spotless again.
Using teke on the bandages Phoenix had put on minutes before, and were unfortunately now dirty with herself, she removed the fabric from herself so she could clean every single part of herself that was covered in dirt. Having to scrub hard to get the stubborn bits of sticky mulch out of her red coat.

Iscah
Iscah could, of course, hear what the other horses were up to, with them only being a few feet away from her, and not trying to hide their actions at all. From the sound of water being poured, to the short conversations, and everything else, in between them that went on.
She was only slightly aware of it all, her gaze focused on her own self, cleaning up the last specs of dirt off her pelt. All of it didn’t take too long - and she was ready to go, in only a few minutes. But one quick moment to pause, would quickly tell her that those behind her weren’t. So she moved onto wasting her own time - from removing all her hair bands, and carefully brushing out all her hair, extra thoroughly, getting out all the non existent tangles, before doing it up again, in a similar hairstyle it had been before. To rummaging through some of the cabinets around her, to get out some sweet smelling oils, and rubbing them into her dimples and other places around her neck and face; all part of a routine she did normally each morning, and that had certainly not totally worn off in only a few hours.
But Iscah seemed to perk up after the routine, a smile a bit more softer - as if she was finally feeling herself again.
It had been long enough, now, that she didn’t mind turning around, to look over her shoulder and see what the other horses were up to. Phoenix seemed to be more or less cleaned up, and ready to go. Eris closer to yes than not, as well. So she got up from her place, and took a few energetic steps back towards the two in the bath. ”Ready to go? I was thinking we could go to the kitchen, meet some of the cooks, and grab something to eat before we go further, does that sound good, once you’re all bandaged up again, Eris?” There was a flick of her gaze at said bandages and wounds, but she did her best to act as if she hadn’t; with no real reaction visible in her face, other than a quick vague twitch her smile.

Phoenix | Aodh Servile Slave Phoenix wasted no time getting into the bath, and was glad Eris had decided to join her. And although the slave would have certainly loved to just mull around in the wonderfully warm water, she knew they were on a schedule, and she would not like to keep Iscah waiting longer than she already had.
She dunked her head under the water a few times, which of course completely ruined her makeup, but she didn’t really need it. The makeup only added to her beauty, for she was stunning well enough without it. She knew this fact, but makeup always seemed to cheer her up quite a bit. And showing off her skills in that department was a huge plus as well. Unfortunately, there wouldn’t be any time to redo said makeup. Later.
Scrubbing was quickly done, removing literally everything that had tainted her body during her time outdoors. Usually going out in the gardens didn’t make more than her hooves dirty, but it was to be expected with a first flying lesson. And it didn’t even really bother her this time. Perhaps it simply was the bath. Bathing was nice even if she were already clean! She could just sit in a tub for hours if she were allowed to.
Before long, she was sparkling clean, lacking makeup, and very much wet. But she soon rose out of the water shortly after Iscah addressed them both.
“I am nearly ready, Mistress. Just going to dry myself off really quick.” She placed her wet, used towel in a nearby hamper, making a mental note to take care of the laundry later. She rather liked doing laundry. A fresh towel was picked up and she dabbed herself all over, taking care not to injure any of her feathers as she did so. And soon enough, the towel was dumped with the first one and she stood there, glistening and smelling fresh.
“Now I am ready.” She smiled gently. “On the way we can stop to get the bandages.”
