"Certain things catch your eye, but pursue those that capture the heart." ~Native American Proverb § She stood there, staring out at the waves rolling in and out of the Sea, crashing delicately and beautifully upon the shore. Her healed injury tingled upon her back and her hips, and she swished her tail with apprehension. She hadn’t been to Kiephis since the day it was destroyed… She was worried if was even safe, considering all the rumors and hubbub. But the call was certain and true…
She had dreamed many a dream many a night. She had various books littered within her room of detailed accounts of the more lucid dreams she had over the years, but nothing could compare to the dream she had the night before. Lucid dreams were realistic, but the dream she had last night was so, incredibly real, almost as if the God whom appeared within were actually within her mind.
And of course, Gods could do such a thing, but she had thought she was perhaps being silly, studying far too late into the night or indulging when she shouldn’t have been. Yer here she stood, with a group of other horses who had apparently had the exact same dream, if not incredibly similar. And to her intelligent mind, this was no mere coincidence. This wasn’t a group of horses who happened to have a dream about losing their teeth on the same night. No, this was a group of chosen horses by their very God. That was what Lulu believed, though it made her nervous to think about due to the past regarding the Pegasi…
Swallowing a nervous lump in her throat, the tiny, tentacled hippocampus looked over to the others with her piercing gold eyes. She wondered why she was chosen. She was so...so small! When compared to the others, she was insignificant. A Guardian, a Redeemer, and two Clerics. And she even recognized one of them; Cinnamon. Then there was her…A simple Shoal. But surely...surely there was something about her that stood out to the Wavemother. That made her as important as these notable figures. Clearing her throat, she stepped closer to the group. She might be small, but her personality surely made up for that.
“Greetings.” She began, dipping her head to the others respectfully, keeping her eyes averted. She was of course, the lowest ranking of all the horses gathered, even if one of them was younger, so it would be disrespectful to allow one of them to speak first.

DaemynGuardian, Husband, and Father
Standing at the edge of the water, staring at what was once full of life and now swirling with toxicity and gods knew what else, Daemyn took a deep breath of the salty wind to calm his mind. Others had shared in his intense dream it seemed, driven to the water by the gentle but insistent pressure of the Wavemother. He greeted them all with a bow of his head and soft words, introducing himself with name and occupation while noting silently to himself how they were all hippocampi and quite visibly so. He was as common as could be, but blessed with the gift of Nyphism and quite experienced with it. It made sense, he pondered, that water should be no hindrance to any of them.
Lifting his eyes to the skies he made note of the grey clouds, a storm brewing above, one he would be somewhat happy to escape from beneath the waves. Then on the other hoof, he had heard stories and read reports of how Kiephies’ waters had become toxic and deadly to breath; his own son Owain and his partner Kalakara had been visiting when the ground split open. Owain now refused to step hoof in the ocean and had nightmares of the earth swallowing him whole, which made Daemyn’s heart bleed. The boy was so young, it was difficult to explain the world to him.
There had to be some reason to all those lives lost and for these five equines to meet chasing a dream. There had to be something hidden in the waves to justify it all. Daemyn was tired, so very tired of all the things that didn’t make sense. Temples that showed you visions of the past and warnings from Gods which terrified his children.
Pulling himself from his thoughts with some effort, he turned to look at the mares, towering over their smaller forms. Once more he would be a guardian and a protector, but his weary mind wondered how much longer he could do it. His brief stay in Zuiseset had resulted in Farsight being lost, and although the flea-bitten stallion had known the risks and gladly taken them, Daemyn couldn’t stop blaming himself.
“It seems Cascade knows how to hoof pick her search parties well, “ he said with a slight chuckle, trying to break what he felt was a very tense air. “It might sound very presumptuous of me, and it likely is, but you’ve all been driven here by a dream, yeah? Unless I’ve gone completely bonkers I have a… feeling that there’s something out there, “ he tossed his head at the calm waves: “ for us to find. “

Stormcry
and so the adventure begins The mare walked to the waters embracing the day Cascade had blessed them. An interesting adventure lies ahead of her, and her company. One, Stormcry was eager to dive into. Cold waves rushed against he legs sending a slight shiver through her body. This was her first time coming back to the Kiephis since her father had died. A bundle of emotions rushed through her as precious memories came to mind. The wreckage from the past events broke her heart. Who would cause damage to such a beautiful place.
Stormcry bowed her head and introduced herself to everyone. It was odd to see the people from her dreams appear as they were. A slight feeling of deja vu ran through her mind. Every detail was correct. Her eyes looked up at Daemyn. Stormcry could instantly see that he has been through a lot. She picked one of her flowers from her mane, and walked over to him. "It seems that you haven't gone bonkers Mr. Daemyn. I have had these dreams as well. There are some mysterious down there, and I believe that she choose us to discover them. I believe our Wave Mother has a sense of adventure." she said with a warm smile. Stormcry gently placed the flower into his mane to hopefully make him smile.

Cinnamon The mare quietly stepped up behind Stormcry, listening to the others chatter quietly, a small smile appearing on her lips as she watched the younger mare place a small flower in the stallion's mane before she turned to the other mare standing before her. She nodded.
"Greetings indeed." The mare stated softly, her tail flicking back and forth as she considered what the others were talking about. She was in agreement with everyone else as the mention of dreams came into play. Cinnamon had never been the kind of mare to dream, but for the past few nights she could fee the ocean calling to her, the wave mother urging her to go back to Kephis.
At first she had been afraid, the thought of walking back into the ocean after the destruction that had been wrought on the city had settled had been heart rending for the mare. However, after Stormcry had also mentioned her concerns in passing, the mare had decided it'd be best to follow through with her concerns.
She was relieved, if not surprised, that she was truly not alone. She had felt as if she had been crazy to believe it... but now?
Well, now it felt more reasonable to be standing out here by the ocean as the others confirmed her suspicions.
"I've been having them too... We need to search the city... though for what I'm not sure." She still felt doubtful, though at this rate, she felt there was no turning back.

GYDA | TALORI | REDEEMER
'Cause I know I'm a sinner, but I could be a saint in your head; no I don't got religion, but I'll tip my hat to the dead.
The taste of liquor still lingered on her lips as she made her way to the edge of the ocean, letting the water lap gently at her feet and watching as sea foam danced and swirled gently upon its surface…
Her dreams had led her here (along with a dash of liquid courage), and it seemed she was not the only one Cascade had called to.
The demise of the ancient, underwater city, Kiephis, had been widespread gossip for months now, its loss yet another heavy blow to Talori, and with their numbers stretched thin across the country and superstition running rampant throughout the herd, it seemed unlikely they would have the strength to rebuild. Gyda however, did not share the same sense of despair at losing what could easily be restored - but her heart ached for the lives she had been unable to save, and for the kin they had been unable to retrieve from unsanctioned --and largely unmarked-- graves.
With a mix of curiousity and impatience guiding her hand, the mare began to wade out until she was chest deep into the sea, ignoring the chance at small talk and largely thankful for it; though she offered a quick glance over her shoulder before completely submerging, calling out to the others to interrupt, alerting them of her plans.

"Certain things catch your eye, but pursue those that capture the heart." ~Native American Proverb § Lulu fell silent as the observed the others, and it was through this quiet observation that she watched Redeemer slowly wade out into the waves. She half ignored the rest of the talking from the others, until the wading mare called out and disappeared under the churning sea. Turning her head to look at the others, she momentarily chewed on her lips to see if they too had heard. It would be rude to simply chase after the mare, and it was, at least to the young Philosopher, rude that the mare had gone off on her own the way she had. Unless of course...that was Cascades' will. Huffing impatience through her nostrils and inhaling the salty scent on the breeze, Lulu finally raised her voice to get the attention of the others.
“Pardon the interruption, but we are being left behind…” Trotting closer to the water to where the small waves could lap at her forehooves, she searched the waves for any signs of the Redeemer resurfacing, but the young mare knew that it was unlikely. Even with the sea salt heavy on the breeze, the smell of liquor was not lost upon her. Safety in numbers, wasn’t there?
“Please, let us go. We can chat after we finish our mission.” Turning her head back around, she charged into the waves just as knives cut through butter. And it wasn’t long before her small form was swallowed into the seafoam.

DaemynGuardian, Husband, and Father
Daemyn was a little surprised to have a flower placed in his mane following Stormcry’s soft words, but it did bring a small smile to his lips as he dipped his head gently in a silent gesture of gratitude. Her words rang true in his ears and he was glad to hear Cinnamon confirm the dream vision as well. Worried that the flower might get lost in the water, he weaved it into his pale locks tightly, just as his daughter had taught him. A parent needed to know how to braid and weave hair in his household.
‘Mares... ‘ he thought, as one waded ahead into the waves without a word, a brief scowl crossing his features. It was the old Daemyn pushing into his thoughts, the one that had tried with every fiber of his being to adhere to social expectations and he felt a brief stab of guilt for letting that little voice speak up. He banished it to the depths of his mind as he nodded along with Ilhuicaatl’s words. “Yes, best we stick together at all cost and keep your eyes peeled for any tight of danger. Call out if you spot anything, “ he rumbled in his deep voice and motioned for Cinnamon and Stormcry to go ahead of him. He wanted one last glance up and down the beach to make sure there was no danger hidden behind them. Too many ugly surprises had been cast upon his people for him to let down his guard now.
Once the last of his fellow adventurers had slipped into the sea and beneath the waves, Daemyn followed, calling upon his Nyphism easily, thankful for the blessing that allowed him to move almost as naturally as the hippocampi did, even without an aquatic tail to aid him.

You know the water is toxic and yet, the second you plunge your heads below the surface, trusting your Wave Mother, you realize bubbles have formed around your heads.
She is keeping you safe… for now.
You do not know what the acidic water will do to your skin after long periods of time, however, so your journey must still be quick.

Stormcry
and so the adventure begins Stormcry looked back at her mother with a smile. She was happy to know that she would be alone on this journey. The thought of the waters did worry her. What could to lying beneath Cascade's waves? Storm nodded at her mother as she agreed with her. "I hope there is still a bit of something we can search," Stormcry spoke.
It was brought to attention as the others began to plunge in. "Let the adventure begin," the young mare said anxious but excited. Her heard turned to Daeymn soft smile on his lips. It warmed her heart to him have the flower braided into his mane. Her head nodded at his words of going ahead. It was very clear to her that Daemyn was the Dad of the group, in Storm's mind. She smiled happily as walked to the waters to dive in.
Once she dove in, Stormcry noticed bubbles around everyone heads. "Well.. This is quit odd. Thank you Wave Mother for the pretty bubbles," the young mare thought to herself.

Cinnamon I believe we are being left behind....
"Looks like it. I agree, we can talk after we get through this... I imagine the wave mother doesn't wish for us to wait." The mare said softly, stepping into the water behind Stormcry, a thankful smile playing on her lips as she passed Daemyn. It was kind of him to allow them to move ahead of him, though she was more concerned for the youthful cleric than she was herself. She had been in Kiephis when the city had fallen.
"Thank you Daemyn." She added softly as she passed. "I'll try to keep us close." She had a brief moment of concern for the only true horse of the group as they traveled out into the waters, though it didn't last for long as she considered Cascade's choices.
He probably was able to breath underwater like the others, or maybe the wave mother would grant him the ability if they went under. Either way, as a guardian, she knew the stallion would protect them (or at least try to) if anything went wrong... and that was a relief to think of.
Without another word, she submerged herself into the world of her Goddess, sudden relief feeling the mare as she realized what Cascade had done. Thank you for protecting us, wave mother. She prayed, knowing that in her own mysterious way, the Goddess of the seas was protecting them...
Though it seemed she wasn't able to completely keep the group safe. They would need to be quick working to ensure their own safety; the feeling of the acidity in the water giving the mare new reason for concern, her slug-like body was already unhappy with the feeling of the water.
All she could hope was that when the group returned to the surface, the clerics of the group would be able to treat any potential wounds or take care of any problems this water would cause.

"Certain things catch your eye, but pursue those that capture the heart." ~Native American Proverb §
When the bubbles of her plunge fluttered away from her vision, she could see Gyda’s long, striped tail flowing through the water. But most importantly, she could see a sort of sheen slightly obscuring her vision. As she squinted to see if it was indeed the toxicity of the water she jumped into, the same shimmering orb could be seen around Gyda’s head. Turning from the flow of bubbles that indicated the others joined her and Gyda, she could see up close that the orb was in fact a bubble; which explained the strange sheen in her eyes. Her eyes went to Stormcry who seemed to be observing the same anomaly, indicating it wasn’t just in Lulu’s head.
No one said anything about it, so Lulu decided not to either. She still felt a little hesitant about their journey, as the bubbles surely meant that while they could breathe cleanly, the water was surely still bad enough that they would need to be quick to avoid absorbing the toxins. She just hoped the bubble lasted...
“We should be quick. The Wave Mother has graced us with this gift, but it might be limited. Let us hurry.” Her fins wiggled rapidly and she started off after Gyda in the distance.

GYDA | TALORI | REDEEMER
'Cause I know I'm a sinner, but I could be a saint in your head; no I don't got religion, but I'll tip my hat to the dead.
In her haste, she had forgotten to take into account Talori's stringent moral code; the one where she was supposed to appear meek and unassuming, to take the lead of others instead of going out and forging her own path...
So she was thankful when the group still chose to follow her, putting aside their own inhibitions for the sake of simple curiosity.
Despite warnings and firsthand accounts of the toxicity levels that still lingered in what was left of the city, the water she filtered through her lungs was clear, even with her rapid descent to the seafloor. A bubble had formed around her head, keeping her sight free and clear from debris.
Behind her, she heard Ilhuicaatl's exclamation, and agreed that it seemed Cascade was indeed keeping them safe, but it caused another question to rise to the surface, sitting tentatively on the tip of her tongue.
Why had she chosen to protect them? Why had she not extended the same grace to those now lost below?
As Gyda drew closer, she paused, mane swirling gently about her face thanks to the momentum that had carried her here, to stare over Kiephis - unsure of what to do next. She turned her head to survey her companions, searching their faces for answers- only to hear something, someone, cry out.
A survivor? Or a profiteer seeking fool's gold?
"Did you hear that?" She asked the group at large, suddenly tense.

She almost didn't cry out.
Weeks without hearing a voice or seeing anything with cognition higher than a crab had dulled her senses. Initial hope of rescue faded after only a few days. The darkness swallowed her, made her its prey, and she occasionally wondered if this was a fate worse than death- unable to die, unable to live.
Breathe.
She tried to wriggle her tentacles, for the tenth time today and the millionth time in her life- and they laid motionless on the floor, softly ebbing to the currents but completely dead. While initially she scavenged for sustenance, three days ago she'd begun fasting. Starvation wasn't painless but it was her only choice.
It was clear she was forgotten. She had already wept about it. Accepted it.
Slow breath.
Silence.
Fourteen young years on this earth, most spent in the great sea city, and they'd end here. Everyone had feared an aerial attack from the Flight but her beloved city lay vulnerable to Ignacio's swarths of hidden rage. And no one had even considered it. No one had prepared.
Had her parents survived? She was too young to die. She hadn't been in the family's home when it collapsed- she had been sneaking in the alleys to collect scrap shells- and no one knew her whereabouts. The rising heat and toxins made evacuation immediate, and in the frenzy no one had bothered to check the alley between two great stone buildings, now crumbled into great slabs of rock. She hid under them in the darkness.
Her final resting place.
She cursed her blood for running contrary to the heat & acid. She used to relish the high resilience that an octopus of her kind harbored. Not anymore.
Breathe.
The sound of voices jolted her from a drowsy sleep. Hunger no longer panged her- her belly felt like stone- though her body's metabolic stress made her exhausted all the time. She opened her eyes in a muffled fog, trying to focus.
Had she begun hallucinating? A blurry form entered her vision far above. She craned her neck out, her muscles stiff and sore.
It wasn't real. There was no way. Cascade wouldn't have mercy now. She wasn't that cruel a mother. And acceptance of her state had already run its course. Dying was all she could do.
Which is why she hesitated before making a sound, considering if she really wanted this. Were her parents alive? Did she want to find out?
Curse the atom of young resiliency that still pounded in her chest, the will to survive.
A hoarse "here," rasped from her lips barely louder than a whisper. She swallowed, wetting her throat, and tried again.
"Here!"

You never imagined to hear a voice calling for help, and yet, there is. You uncovered a gravely wounded hippocampus. The clock is ticking, it will not survive for long.
You now understand that your goddess has presented you a choice.
You can attempt to save both the hippocampus as well as find whatever object she has left for you, or you can merely save the hippocampus.

DaemynGuardian, Husband, and Father
Daemyn smiled warmly at Cinnamon as she thanked him, wading out into the water as the last of the group. As he took a deep breath of air and plunged beneath the surface, he was confused by the odd shimmer and slight distortion of what he saw. He was breathing and moving as well as ever, and as he stared ahead at the mares, making sure they were all safe, he noticed the bubbles encircling each head. A calming sense made him believe that this was a gift from Cascade, but it wouldn’t last forever and the rest of his body was already itching from the toxicity of the water, stinging like so many mosquitos set upon his skin. The goddess hadn’t spoken to them directly, yet it was clear that they had some unseen timer to battle. Surely he could handle scars if it came to that, but what about the fragile mares? Daemyn would rather not find out, so he pushed on, swimming swiftly alongside the hippocampi.
"Here!"
The voice was so faint Daemyn completely missed it until the Redeemer ahead paused, tensed and spoke up. The guardian frowned heavily and perked his ears, trying to sort through the many unfamiliar sounds the ocean brought with it, and then in the middle of it all was a tiny, hoarse voice calling for help.
Impossible! He had heard straight from his partner how Kiephis had been claimed, how the earth had split and the waters boiled. No one left behind would have survived, and yet there was the croaking voice again, calling for help.
“Someones here! “ he barked out, loud enough for all of the group to hear, before he peeled away, diving straight down, searching for the source. There in front of him, hidden amongst the ruins of buildings, was a pale figure barely clinging to life. He barked out a sharp ‘HERE!’ to the mares behind him before descending.
The pale form was a tentacled hippocampus, a young child in Daemyn’s eyes, and one barely alive. The pale little thing looked like nothing more than skin and bones and he couldn’t believe they were still breathing after all this time. He quickly noticed how her tentacles were subject to the current and not moving on their own, something which made hope sink in his guts.
“We're here, “ he called out softly, his deep voice carried easily by the water, a calm rumble carried by the current. “Easy, easy now. My name is Daemyn, I’m a Guardian and there are clerics with me too “ he said, hoping to calm the youngster. He would have pressed on to ask for her name, but as he spoke he had time to think and… weight all the options. Cascade had sent them into the toxic ocean to find something and as much as he wanted that something to be this child, it didn’t feel right. There was still something tugging at his soul, trying to drive him further into the ruins, but with the water biting at his skin, he knew there wasn’t much time.
There wasn’t enough time to bring the child to safety also.
Daemyn turned to his small group of adventures, his face grim and his voice low: “The water is too toxic, too dangerous. We cannot bring this one to safety and find that which the Wavemother has hidden. But… we cannot leave this child behind either. Time is of the essence and I propose we split ways here. One half bring the child to safety and the others continue searching for… whatever we are supposed to find. “
The muscular Guardian took a deep breath. If his idea was discarded he would gladly sling the child across his back and make for the surface in the blink of an eye, but she looked so frail and sick and he… well, he worried she might not make the journey. “Please speak, “ he begged of the mares.

"Certain things catch your eye, but pursue those that capture the heart." ~Native American Proverb § She had not felt it immediately, the clawing of the toxins working on her skin. But as she drew closer to Gyda, she could suddenly feel the itchy sensation under her pelt. She turned her head to look across her back, along the dorsal stripe and down the fatty-looking bulb that made up the rest of her body. She was worried she would see damage already, but it seemed everything was alright...for now. Turning back around, she saw that Gyda had paused and was looking back at them. Something in the mares eyes, the sudden tenseness, had Lulu pondering. But she didn’t need to ponder it long.
“Did you hear that?”
Lulu tilted her head, confused, but suddenly she heard something. It was through the swirling of the current in her ears that brought the small voice to her. But before she could even comprehend what she had heard or even the ability to move in search of the voice, swirling behind her had her peering towards their Guardian as he confirmed what everyone was likely thinking. The golden stallion swept down below them, and Lulu changed her course to give chase. If someone was live, which was a miracle in of itself, she knew they would have to pause their search to help whomever it could be.
As she approached Daemyn from above and behind, Lulu was able to get a decent look at the predicament placed before them. Within the rubble, propped up on working forelegs and dragging limbs that were long dead, was a child. A hippocampus like most of the group, but hardly alive. For a split second, in some horrifying place in her mind, she thought the child was her brother. The pale form was enough to cause such a gut reaction, she lurched forward until she was next to Daemyn’s face.
She was silent as the stallion spoke, staring down at the child, looking over her body for injuries other than the obvious. Under no circumstances did she want to leave the child. She wasn’t heartless, but she also wasn’t sure she would be able to save the child herself. She was hopeful that the others would want to save the child as well. And luckily, she wasn’t the one that had to bring up the obvious predicament. She turned her head to look at Daemyn, before she followed his pleading eyes as he looked about the group.
“Well, it’s obvious that is what we are going to have to do.” She started, looking back to Daemyn for a moment. “I’m too small to help here though, so I suggest that our Guardian, Daemyn, stay here with a Cleric to get the child to safety. The rest of us should go look for what Cascade has asked of us to find. Because I believe we can achieve both.” She looked to each of the other's eyes warily. “We don’t have a lot of time. We need to make a decision now.”

Cinnamon Cinnamon didn't hear the cries like the others did, but she did notice how the others diverted their path, split between the want to listen to the wave mother and her own clerical instincts was difficult, but eventually she met up with the others in time to hear Daemyn's sentiments and Lulu's idea. With a quite nod she glanced at the others.
"I can stay if need be, though Daemyn may be better suited for finding the item... However, I'd rather not spend time bickering over who should do what, as time is of the essence in both aspects."
She looked at the weak child, taking note of her malnourished body and inability to swim on her own. She quietly remembered the day the Kiephis had fallen and couldn't help but think about how long the poor child had been down here alone.
Even if she didn't survive, it would be better to give her to Cascade the right way, instead of leaving her under the waves. Quickly, the mare set herself in motion, thinking about all the things that would be needed if she stayed here with the child while the others went off to look for the item. "Stormcry, I think it'd be best if you looked for the item as well... if only because carrying her may be too difficult for you. Cascade asked us to come down here for a reason..." And I have a feeling this child was not that... Wave mother, forgive me. I can't let a child die alone in your embrace.

Stormcry
and so the adventure begins The waters felt toxic against her skin. A burning itch ran down her spine as the swam. Stormcry just shook her head. She felt so sorry for her beloved Goddess. Could you feel the same way with these toxins in her wave? Is she feeling the sickness of the disaster? The young mare could any think of the idea.
A faint voice echoed into the waters. It sent a chill down her spine. The deepest sea was terrifying to Stormcry. She had nightmares of it often. Daemyn's voice caught her attention as she looked over at him. The sight of the young mare made her eyes widened. Has.. Has she been here all this time?? Her heart broke instantly. Why hasn't anyone searched for her? There has to be someone seeking her. Her body swam over to follow the others. She listened to the others and their options.
Stormcry heard her mother's words, and nodded."Yes ma'am I will do my best. I will stay with the others. Mr. Daeymn, if you choose to stay, please take care of yourself, the mare, and my mother please. May Cascade watch over you. Her mother was right. They had to work quick, or else things may turn worse.

DaemynGuardian, Husband, and Father
One half of Daemyn’s heart was yearning to find that which was meant for the group, and the other half could not let him leave a child behind, no matter the survivability rate. The toxicity of the water and the long time of exposure meant nothing if this small one could survive, and Daemyn was certain his companions had eyes as keen as hawks. They would find that which was hidden, while himself and Cinnamon got the child to safety. Good lords… she was hardly any older than his Moree! Whatever Cascade had hidden in the depths of ruin could not possibly match this young life.
“Don’t you worry, we will get you to safety, “ he said to the pale hippocampus child, a warm, certain smile on his face as he reached out with his teke and gently lifted the pale one. It stung his heart so badly to see the tentacles dangle by without a trace of life, but he held the child close to his chest, wrapping them in his soft teke and all the fatherly warmth he could muster.
“Stay safe, “ he rumbled to Gyda, Lulu, and Stormcry who would carry on the search, worrying for their safety too. “Don’t take any risks. We cannot lose any of you, “ he added sincerely, before turning to Cinnamon and heading back towards the surface and safety.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Her voice is loud in your ears, it rings through the water loudly. At her cry, the buildings around you shake, just mildly, from its force. Then again, she wails, her voice louder this time, more shrill, a wordless cry. There is a muted crack and before anything can be done, an archway collapses, a thin spire crumbling with it. In the dust that is thrown up, both Daemyn and Nadia's forms disappear. When the dust settles, you see them. Not trapped per se, but certainly shaken. It appears that they may have been hit by debris, or simply returned to the sea floor for safety. The god's voice does not echo out again, but you sense her sharply in your mind. Again you're felt with the intense urge to go find something. Something that must be found. At the same time, you feel, likely as prominently as your god, the heartrending desire to save the child you've found. Your god is as conflicted as you are. Try again.

GYDA | TALORI | REDEEMER
'Cause I know I'm a sinner, but I could be a saint in your head; no I don't got religion, but I'll tip my hat to the dead.
Gyda's ears pinned back at Daemyn’s reckless retrieval, scarcely having the chance to open her mouth in protest before something above them cracks, and the pair are swallowed by a gush of toxic plumes.
She recoils instinctively, heart pounding at the sudden and potentially deadly collapse, unable to do anything but wait for the dust to settle. Her eyes strain to see movement, to see anything that would quell the hollow feeling in her gut...
There.
Striking off once more, she shakes off the itching sensation upon her scales and sinks to the bottom of the seabed; studying the Guardian and lost child for additional injuries, biting the inside of her cheek. It was as though plucking Nadia from the bowels of the city had stirred something deep within, causing unrest in amongst the ruins. Taking a deep breath, she looks out once again over what is left of Kiephis, Cascade's cry echoing in her head.
Where were they supposed to even start?
She shakes her head at the urge to seek what was calling to be found with the rest of the group and turns to face Cinnamon, noting the cleric's troubled demeanour.
“We might have to wait, try an' attempt stabilise her... Daemyn, was it? You should go with the others, try to find what’s still keeping us here.”

I l h u i c a a t l "Lulu"
§ Talori | Philosopher §
"Certain things catch your eye, but pursue those that capture the heart." ~Native American Proverb § None of them had time to do much when the voice raked their ears and an archway collapsed near them. Daemyn had tried to leave, but he was unable to. Dust rose around them, and Lulu hid herself within her tentacles to avoid the muck, even though the bubble around her head protected her already. Through the grime, she could see Daemyn and the child, Gyda and Cinnamon close by and Stormcry closer to her.
But why? She had thought to the Wave Mother from within her head. Can we not do both?
Before she could really get angry at the situation, Gyda had spoken up, and Lulu contemplated it. Yeah...that’s probably part of the issue. Cascade wants to save the child, but whatever needs to be found, needs to be found soon. And the only way to save the child in the meantime, it seemed, was to find the object, then leave together.
“We have no time to quarrel...” She spoke up, irritation was laden in her voice. “We let the Redeemer and Cleric help the child. But the rest of us must go. Cascade begs for us to search.” Lulu turned away, hovering over the ocean floor. She looked over her shoulder, tentacles swirling about her face. “Daemyn, Stormcry, let us go.”

DaemynGuardian, Husband, and Father
He had never expected his goddess to cry out so fiercely at this attempt to save a life. The sound shocked him to the core and when an archway began to crumble he only narrowly missed the sudden shower of debris, blinded by the dust that seemed to explode from the seabed. Stone collided with his right shoulder and sent a painful wave ringing through his leg, but thankfully he managed to keep the hippocampus safe. At least he hoped so.
"Are you hurt? " he asked the pale one as he struggled to see, using his blessing in an attempt to push the dust and muck down, to clear the water quicker.
Daemyn was relieved to see the others unharmed, releasing a small huffed breath. He gladly passed Nadia over to Gyda, mumbling a soft 'yes' to her question and suggestions. He struggled to straighten his thoughts and focus, skin itching and mind ringing with alarm. Did... did Cascade not want them to help the child? He hung onto that terrible possibility until Lulu spoke his name, snapping out of his mind and back into reality and the terrible urgency.
"Yes, " he mumbled and then more forcibly; "Yes! Quickly now. " He waited just long enough to make sure both of them were ready and then set off, hoping and praying that they were doing the right thing.

The blurry swarm of bodies and their hurried voices echoed without comprehension in her ears; they sounded so far away. Her eyelids suddenly grew heavy. She was about to close them again for a minute when she felt the warm grasp of teke enfold her, the large stallion pulling her to his breast. She pressed her head to his chest and felt his heart beat, confirming that this wasn't just a delusion.
BAM
The voice shattered into their sphere and Nadia heard the crumbling of rocks as the stallion dove with her. She closed her eyes and buried her head into his armpit. She felt him get hit, then again, and then the stillness returned.
"Are you hurt?"
"No," she squeaked, gingerly lifting her head. She didn't have the will to try to interpret what the voice was or why the structures fell- she didn't care. She allowed herself an ounce of concern over these individuals helping her, but getting too invested in her rescue required energy she just didn't have anymore. And she knew sand was dripping through the hourglass- her retrieval wasn't promised, only intended.
She felt the stallion's grip shift, and suddenly she was in the embrace of a large, kind gray mare. Nadia pressed her head to the mare's chest. Her heart beat too. She was real.

Cinnamon Hearing the crash and cries of Cascade jolted Cinnamon to her senses for just a moment, her worries about what to do still settling into her stomach. She watched as Daemyn and the young child fell, fear gripping her heart for a moment before she swam up to the group. Quietly, she examined the child alongside Gyda, the others falling into their respective positions.
"We must hurry." Cinnamon responded after a few moments, her eyes adjusting to the sand that was now settling around the group. "Time is of the essence for both the child and for us." She nodded to the others. "Go, search. We now know our respective duties. Let us hope we can get everything done properly this time."
Please Cascade, let this child be safe in our hooves. I know we must find the item, but the child...
The want to find the item burned in her chest as badly as the want to save the child. For a few moments, the mare considered leaving Gyda to continue the search. However, the mare's heart quickly outmatched her devotion.
The child came first in her mind, and if the other searched... they hopefully could take care of both tasks without issue.
She hoped and prayed that would indeed be the case.

Daemyn Guardian, Husband, and Father
Daemyn lingered behind the two ladies, giving them the lead and himself the best view of the mares and whichever troubles might lie ahead. Although Cascade was looking out for their health with the bubbles encasing their heads, he doubted she would be able to keep predators at bay. Her voice had been too urgent, too invested in locating this mystery item, and who knew how much toxicity the ocean's hunters could handle? Some shark or similar was bound to find Keiphis rather comfortable these days.
So he was on edge, eyes darting left and right as the trio descended further into the ruins, drawn by the powerful pull of Cascade's will. As his eyes drifted across the ruins beneath them, Daemyn couldn't help but think back to that day, where his partner, Kalakara and their son, Owain had been visiting Kiephis. Little Owain was now terrified of the ocean and in seeing the destruction for himself, Daemyn could understand why.
Pushing himself forward through the toxic water, he swam up next to Lulu and Stormcry, nearly as adapted to the water as they were by nature. He kept his voice low for the two of them as if going any louder would encourage the destruction to happen all over again.
"Where do we go from here? Do you feel anything specific? A, uh, pull in a certain direction or some such? "

Stormcry
and so the adventure begins The young mare's ears went back as things begin to shake. She quickly shut her eyes close as she was frightened. How did Daemyn anger their Goddess? He just wanted to help save this pour soul. One of her eyes peeked opened as the rumble eased. She took a breath as the toxic waters seeped into her skin. Stormcry was very thankful for the fresh water in her bubble.
As the group had finally choose who was stay once more, Stormcry nodded as her heart wanted to find this item. They were down here for a reason. Not only for the foals sake, but something else. Lulu's voice perked up her ears as it was time to go. "Yes ma'am, Stormcry said as she followed. She looked back at her mother giving her a soft smile. "Please be safe," Storm said with soft, tender words. The young mare had already lost so many important people in her life. She can't afford to lose any more.
The comfort that Daemyn as he was behind them meant a lot to Storm. She stayed close to him and Lulu and they adventure down, deep into the ruins. What all was there to be found. She looked towards her heard to find some kind of directions. Her eyes glace around hoping something would catch them. Something was tugging Stormcry to go a certain way. " I don't know why.. I think we should go this way. Maybe my heart is telling me something important," the mare spoke softly.

"GOOD." Her voice is softer now, she's pleased by the actions you've taken. She also sees in her mind's eye how they will come to fruition. She sees all possible futures for both the filly and the object. She sees both of the most likely outcomes and breathes such a deep sigh of relief that she's sure her children can hear it, even in the din of their hurried panic to help the filly and find the artifact. She shows you the Temple in Kiephis. It is split in half, and the water around it is especially hot. However, something tells you she will protect you, so long as you go there. You see in your mind's eye, floating above the fissure, a pearlescent sphere, golden cracks spanning the surface of the object. It looks to be about the half the size of Nadia and extremely heavy. Cascade clears the image from your head. Go find it, she seems to say. Then her attention turns to those helping Nadia. She calls out to you, Go to the surface with her, together now. Then her presence has left the water entirely. You do not feel her as acutely as you did. You need not feel her like that. You've been delivered. NADIA will survive. The OBJECT will be found. Congratulations.

Ilhuicaatl | Talori Philosopher She swam with urgency, ears darting from beneath the undulating bubble surrounding her head. The fin that surrounded her small form rippled rapidly as she sped through the noxious water. She didn’t know where they were headed, only that somewhere within the ruins lay an object they desperately needed to find. What they were to find was still a mystery, but Lulu felt that once they found it, they would immediately know. Daemyn had swum up next to herself and Stormcry, and she could hear his question despite the low tone he adopted. It felt appropriate, almost as if their voices would cause another avalanche of destruction should they raise their voices. Lulu kept swimming, yet pondered. She really had no idea. Stormcry however, seemed to perk up at the question and suggested they go one way. Yet almost immediately, Lulu felt a voice resonating within her mind. “Good.” The familiar voice of their Goddess had said, which quickly grew into an image that appeared within her mind. She could recognize the underwater temple, and a shiver crawled down her spine. She had been down here when the city was cleaved in half. Yet as quickly as she shivered from the memory, next she shivered from awe. The orb that entered her vision, hovering precariously over the crevice, was what appeared to be a large pearl. She didn’t know how she knew, but it looked smaller than the filly the others were currently rescuing. And as quickly as the image came, it had left along with Cascades presence. Although she could still feel the Wavemother, there was a noticeable distance. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she turned to Daemyn and Stormcry. “You saw that, right? Where we need to go, what we need to find?” Without waiting for an answer, the small mare started swimming again, urging herself to go as fast as possible. “Let us hurry! To the temple, and get that pearl!” 326 WordsPost #5
