Hello Starborn, and welcome to War-Forged Plot 703: MongerTeam Leader: Anna Participants: Goss, Chirin, Gwen, Killian, Wintera, Akari, Basvoq Please keep the following in mind!- Posts must be a minimum of 175 words. There is no maximum!- No strict order is enforced, but there must be at least two posts between your own character's.- No god-moding or reading characters' minds (unless your pony is a literal telepath, anyway) - Always get consent before harming another character!- Your team is precious. Try to interact with everyone. <3- Have fun! Even if your pony isn't. 8'D Prompt: Although the War with Serora has depleted many resources and left much of the herd’s defenses stretched thin, there have been benefits, too. Trade between Aodh and the Forged continues to flourish, and as the days lengthen and grow warmer, many of the herd gather to trade, sell and buy in what has become an unofficial summer tradition. Colloquially referred to as the “Border Trade Fair”, or just the “Trade Fair”, equines from all around Onea gather to peruse the goods. The weather is cool and surly this year, but you ignore the signs of an approaching storm, refusing to allow it to spoil your day… although moods do seem down, this year, what with the increased tremors, the loss of the War Lord’s child, the reports of monsters, and attacks of Cultists… Still. Shopping is fun, right? Location: Farmlands Time of Day: Early morning Weather: Cool, windy, with rain threatening. You do not have to wait for your leader to post!

anna
Medic
Anna was no stranger to unwelcoming weather. In fact, she wore a grimace upon her face that could rival even the most deplorable of conditions. Truthfully, she had no purpose at the trade fair other than to see what medicines might be available from her Aodhian counterparts. Did it mean she would buy anything from them? Likely not, spending money on something that acted only a little quicker than her own more traditional remedies seemed like a waste of her wealth and her skills.
But, that didn’t mean she could not scout the competition, nor that she wouldn’t find something especially interesting. So, here she was, head lowered against the surly wind, pelt held tightly around her with excess teke. She was quick to notice, amongst those that made the journey to the trade fair, some familiar faces from months previous. Estelle, Chirin, and Gwen all stood out to her immediately. Her mood soured further. The last time she’d been in the company of those three, they had been attacked by cultists.
Anna’s frown further deepened as she noticed two kirins amongst those gathered at the fair. She snorted to herself. Dumb, original lowlanders. Wonderful. Her mood continued to drop as she scanned the horizon of storm clouds. Storms brought with them ill-luck she believed. This one would likely be no different. She made no move to greet the three horses she recognized, instead planting her feet in the ground in front of the nearest merchant’s cart. “What have you got.” She said brusquely to the merchant. “I’m looking for medicines, mobility equipment, and herbs specifically. If you don’t have any of that, tell me now and I’ll move on without wasting our time.”

Killian often made foolish decisions. Even he would admit that to himself. Walking straight through the Trade Fair would probably turn out to be 'a foolish decision', but Killi was going to do it anyway. At least... eventually. Right about now Killian was flopped over the branch of a tree, chewing his cheek and weighing his options a safe distance from the fair. Even from this distance Killian could make out the stalls and hear the flamboyant chatter of Aodhians, and the lower thrum of the Forged. Right now curious customers and young kids would be excitedly exploring the maze of stalls. In the past Killi had been one of these horses, using the Fair to investigate business options for his mother's enterprise. Now he was a criminal.
A criminal with a heavily pregnant wife would couldn't make the trip to Skeldr from the farmlands.
Seriously: Killian had never seen a pony get as round as Baheera before. Killian chewed a bit too hard on his cheek and let out a sharp noise. He'd volunteered to pick up supplies from his mother in Baheera's stead (as short sighted and selfish as Killian was, he wasn't about to let his melon of a wife walk all that way), but it didn't make him feel all that brave. He'd practically been hiding in his tree all morning, nerves getting the better of him. Going into town from a different road would be easier than dealing with the crowds of horses at the fair... but nostalgia pulled Killi's attention from reasonable plans. He really did want to walk through the Trade Fair. Bolder things than that were achieved using his illusionist blessing, such as faking an escape from the Bloody Flanks on MULTIPLE occasions, and spending time in crowded bars. The problem is, Killian stewed, was not getting touched. Killian could mask his appearance with his ability, but his illusions melted away if touched by reality. Should a bystander merely bump him, there was a chance Killian would be recognized.
Killian let out a low groan.
Was a sparkle of gold his form faded away to reveal at plain War-Forged type: a 15 hand stallion pegasus, usual in appearance except for his curly mustache and beard hairs. Underneath, a true Killian pulled himself to his feet on the branch. He wiggled his haunches, and glided from his perch towards the fair, hovering low of the stalls and not daring to touch down. His eyes were peeled for signs of his mother or one of his old employees...

The colt hadn't ever been to the Border Trades Fair, but had herd about it from some other herders and merchants a few times. It wasn't as colorful as Chirin had expected it to be, but it was something new for him to do after talking to few horses over the past few months. His home was isolated, and little news ever made it's way to him, so the colt knowing about the fearful tales of monsters underground and Cultist attacks (save for the one he had been caught in the middle of) were highly unknown to him... Otherwise, he would have left Gaster at home, or at the very least, advised the beast to be much more discrete than he was being, currently. Maple, his Icelandic Sheepdog, was getting older and wasn't as much of a puppy anymore. She was slowing down a bit but thankfully still had the energy to help him herd his Apana, who's perfect, snow white fleece he now carried on his back in tidy rolled bundles, ready to sell. As Chirin looked around, he recognized some horses he had met the first time Gaster had been used to fight. He shouted a quick greeting at them but did nothing more, not wanting to bother them as they tried to sell their goods. The colt spotted a small outcropping of stones to use as a makeshift merchant stall and set his bundles of fleece down, casting a worried, half-blind glance to the rain clouds that gathered on the horizon. Maple had chosen to lay down on the grass some feet away. As Chirin moved to go and pet her, the earth behind his back hooves churned, creating a small 6-foot long mound of disturbed grass and dirt. The colt turned and stared at the up-turned earth, tilting his ears back and cocking a brow. He giggled a bit, feeling a mixture of Unimpressed and Humor at the Golem's subtle prank and was responded with an emotion that felt Pleased With Himself. He was being uncharacteristically mischievous, not that the colt was complaining. Gaster had always been firm and serious... and easily offended. For him to be playful was a pleasant shift in personality. As Chirin turned away the ground rumbled beneath him as the Golem voiced his Amusement. Seconds later he felt the emotions calm down as Gaster physically distanced himself from the gathering of horses. Chirin froze in shocked horror as he watched Gaster calmly surfaced in the distance which... actually wasn't very distant. More like very out-of-the-way. EVERYONE would have seen THAT. The ground beneath the Lindworm re-formed and smoothed over, healing the crater he had made as if it had never been there. He settled in the grasses, laying his huge carbon head on the earth, Garnet eyes ever watching the colt. Passive – Observant – Calm Maple surprised Chirin even more as she got up and plopped herself on the ground next to Gaster, promptly falling asleep. Chirin just gawked at the huge mass of rock and gem and just WHY?!Boredom – Smugness Oh, you giant little SHIT. Even more Smugness Turning back to the crowd, Chirin gave a nervous laugh, “ Hehe, uhmm.... He's Safe, I can vouch!” Today was gonna be Fun. 543 words || post 1

Gwen | Farmer Gwen had told Evan to stay at the farm, but the young barn owl had pretended not to understand and was now perched on her back, looking rather pleased with himself. Gwen let out a small sigh as she adjusted her saddlebags. They were heavy, stuffed with carrots and some coin. The morning was cold and bleak, though it couldn’t be long before summer came around. Gwen took a deep breath through her nose to try and smell if there would be rain. But there were too many scents around her. Rows of stalls with tradeable goods and a fair number of horses too. Her ears swivelled forward in interest, but they remained forever deaf to the chatter. In Skeldr Town, Gwen noticed some kind of unrest. Horses seemed to look around more often, speaking carefully amongst themselves. A lot of things had happened and a tension now filled the Town’s square. The mare felt less of this tension here, on the familiar farmlands, and she was thankful for it. Gwen paused as her perceptive eyes caught sight of a Falabella she recognized. The thought of greeting Anna however, quickly left when Gwen saw the medics’ body language. Her current facial expression would even scare off the thunder. Gwen swallowed and turned her eyes back to the stalls, she would just focus on her goal right now. Which meant she didn’t even notice the Lindworm… yet.

Basvoq
Shield | Harbinger
......
Attending a trade fair was not a part of Basvoq's usual daily routine. While other horses would be admiring the stalls with a keen buyer's eyes or staring longingly as they perused the many-colored items, Basvoq mused over the hours training lost in his trek to the fair and for every hour spent wandering the wares. Yet he had to admit the sight of all the goods, from trustworthy weaponry to strange Aodhian garments saturated with gaudy patterns, piqued his curiosity. More importantly traders from all over the lands always shepherded news, whether rumors or facts, and for this he was a familiar customer.
He approached the stall first of a unicorn with an impressive array of leather wares- strong leather bracers and greaves, to bags that could weather years of travel. A good leatherworker would know hunters and shepherds who traveled with their quarry or herd by necessity and would carry with them intriguing tales. He greeted the unicorn cordially and commented on the expert craftsmanship of the bracers, eyeing them as a potential purchase to his own armor, before inquiring how well providing enough leather for the breadth of his wares went the past season.
The merchant was in mid-sentence when his gaze slid off of Basvoq and his expression paled while a lurching tremor snaked beneath Basvoq's hooves. He whirled round to stare blankly at the colt and the massive stone golem curled in the grasses outside the stalls. Curiosity flitted over his features and he listened to the crowd's murmuring for a moment.
Dryly, he addressed the nearest passerby who also seemed to be perusing the wares. "Is this a sign of Kaia's blessing that the fair will go well, or a warning of economic fragility?"

Wintera;War Forged | Outcast
It was cool, windy, and it looked like rain could overtake them at any moment.
It was definitely not Wintera’s idea of a good day to be out and about during the fair. Rain on a day like this mean she’d be cold, and the thought along made a shiver ripple down her scaled back. However, she’d left the Frozen Horn anyway, drawn to the Trade Fair to see what goods she could locate. There was always something she or Taend needed or could use, whether personally or for Taend’s tavern or blacksmithing.
And so, Wintera had left the cozy building to see what she could see.
Pale eyes were bright with curiousity as she took in all the stalls, stopping here and there to examine something or purchase something else. The kirin had stopped briefly to tuck her furs tighter about slender frame, when she saw something about the horizon change from the corner of her eye.
Head turning, jaw dropped slightly in a gawk at the sight of something rearing from the earth in the not-so-great-distance, a young unicorn giving a nervous laugh and stating the creature was safe.
But the nervous laugh and size made Wintera feel anything but safe. She took several steps backward, gaze darting to a middle aged unicorn nearby who spoke. He looked rough and able bodied, capable for a unicorn. He didn’t seem unduly panicked, and that helped to ease the mare’s fears.
“You know what that thing is?”

Akari "C-Can I help you?"
Post 1 | WC 192 Akari was... Nervous, as she stood near the corner of a building, glancing around at the fair. There were so many others there! Hawke had practically pushed her out of the house, to try and make another friend... But the young Kirin's shyness made that exceptionally difficult, as she watched the crowd of horses mill about. The sight of a massive stone... Thing, scared her, and she started to press against the building, when she spotted a familiar pale coat. "Wintera!" She called out, half relieved, half excited, quickly trotting over to the pale Kirin. "Do you know what that thing is..?" She asked, looking up, and then noticing the older stallion Wintera had been talking to. "Sorry, you... Were already in a conversation..." Akari ducked her head slightly as she stammered out her apology for possibly interrupting the two. Wintera was so much better with interactions than Akari was... She had to be, she lived in a Tavern! Meanwhile Akari usually tried to stay inside Hawke's house to study and figure out Onean medicinal treatments. They were so different, compared to what Akari had been learning so long ago with her parents.

Gwen | Farmer Gwen had stopped at the stall of an Aodhian merchant and she let her gaze wander over the displayed jewellery. She wasn’t sure what she was looking for. Probably something pretty and maybe a little extravagant for Onean tastes. The white mare pursed her lips in consideration as she looked at a hair ornament of intricate woven metal and dangling bits of amethyst. It would probably have sparkled if the sun had been out. It also looked very expensive. Evan shifted suddenly and then the owl started to dig his claws into Gwen’s fur, flapping his wings to get her attention. The young farmer looked back and her eyes grew big as she spotted what had startled her familiar. A huge snakelike form of dark stone had positioned itself not far from the edge of the Trade Fair. Gwen stepped back as her wide eyes darted to the horses around her, trying to measure their reactions. Some looked shocked, others impressed, there were even some that didn’t give the Lindworm a second glance. Gwen swallowed nervously and then spotted a curly pony, recognizing the young herder from quite some months ago. He looked approachable enough. Although she was still very shy, Gwen was also determined to work on her social skills. So she scraped together some courage… stalled… then took a deep breath before walking over to Chirin. Her brown eyes shifted between the pony and the Lindworm a few times before she dipped her head in a greeting. “Good morning, uhm, Chirin, right? My name is Gwen. We met, uhm… before.” The deaf mare concentrated on her articulation and watched carefully for any response.

She had glanced her reflection in the broken glass of her window pane this morning, and the face that stared back at her became a notch more unrecognizable. She snapped the clasp of her cloak and smoothed the thin fabric down her back & shoulders with a sweep of icy teke.
All her nerves told her to avoid the Border Fair- that Skeldr was the only safe haven in Onea. Money was tight, as it always was. She had nothing to sell. But her daily monotony was making her restless.
Panic on the road first grew with every step, and then dissipated. She had tagged along with a small merchant group heading that way. Rue came along as she always did, flying and circling lowly behind them. Traveling alone wasn't an option these days.
She brushed her teke over the dagger attached to her leg at least once every few minutes to make sure it was still there. Should they be ambushed, Goss only needed a half-breath to shift into an owl and fly to safety. Her blessing eased some of her fears, but some ran too deep. The dagger was a crutch, her cloak a security, and her blessing the catalyst.
But they arrived without incident, and thanking the group for their company, Goss broke off to browse at her own pace. She looked no one in the eye. Cheery voices and conversations floated in & out of earshot, and they irritated her. At least the weather bent to her mood.
A grinding noise, like rock on rock, echoed a distance away, but she didn't turn to look. It wasn't until she heard the voice that she whirled her head around. Through the bodies, Chirin was grinning at someone- that colt who she tried to save during their ambush at the farmlands nearly a year ago. Her stomach churned. She was glad to see him well, but wanted nothing to do with what his memory represented.
Perusing a stall of woven baskets, she decided this was a mistake. She shouldn't be here. But she wouldn't be able to return home until a caravan left later this afternoon, and so she was stuck staring blindly at wares and goods that meant nothing.
Don't talk, don't look, just get through today.

It wasn't surprising to see Helen among the crowds, and when Killi noticed his mother, he landed by her with a flutter of his wings. "Goooood morning," Killian chirped, "what would an old hag like you be doing out on her own around so many strange Aodhians? Tsk tsk. Shouldn't your husband be around here somewhere?"
Helen could only huff and roll her eyes. Masking his appearance was one thing, but Killian's voice and horrible personality? Sadly still identical, Helen thought.
The pair broke into quiet conversation, Killian be particularly careful not to bump into anyone. They exchanged information that neither had remembered to include in letters. Killi was always excited to talk about how The King's Thing's was doing, remembering that it had nearly been a year since he had been actively helping his mother run their export relations. Helen insisted that it was fine without him. That dampened Killian's spirits some.
Helen, meanwhile, was curious to know why it was her son here, having expected Baheera. Killian filled her in on how he, Baheera, and Dastan were managing on the farm. A few jokes were tossed in about Killian not being made for 'real labor'. "Ha ha," he intoned dryly. Helen smiled. She informed Killian that she had set some new books aside for Dastan along with the supplies. They both knew the kirin would enjoy that. After Killian had retaught Dastan to read new age language, it seemed there was never enough difficult books for him. Killian noted that he should probably seek out Aodhian books at these stalls, until he remembered that NEW Aodhian writing was inundated with cheap romance. Killian reconsidered. Dastan wasn't the fantastical romantic type.
Eventually the older mare handed a pack off to Killian. He added the different supplies to his belts and put the pack over his shoulders. Helen wished him good luck as always, told him to write, and nodded her goodbyes, but Killian hesitated.
It almost felt like he shouldn't go just yet. It almost felt... normal. Like Killian hadn't been hunted down by both the Stone Hooves and Bloody Flanks for the past year. Like he hadn't been watching his back for even longer than that, since he made the mistake of agree to the Flanks terms way back when.
He never thought he'd miss the mundane parts of life, like his mother making fun of him in public. Working at the farm, having Baheera all helped to bring a bit of normalcy to Killian's life, but he couldn't visit bars or cheat at cards or work and it drove him a bit stir crazed. The pony opened his mouth to say all that to his mother, but was interrupted as a lindworm erupted from the ground behind him. At first Killian started, heart racing and memories of Ruby doing the same thing clouding his thoughts. But when Gaster laid it's head peacefully, Killi let out a relieved sigh. He tried to calm his panic, wondering if the residual rumbling was from Gaster, or if his sudden fear had attracted Ruby.
Regardless, the moment was broken, and all he could offer Helen was a quiet thanks.
The pair parted, and Killian began to make his way slowly through the stalls, downtrodden and considering the cheesy romance novels. Maybe he would grab one just as a joke... seeing Dastan's unamused face would cheer him up...

Chirin couldn't help but notice the looks some horses were giving Gaster. A few were terrified but some couldn't care less that he was there. True that Golem Lindworms were terrifying but they were also Kaia's guardians. Her version of a Shield. They protect Onea and it's citizens, not slaughter them. Unless someone here started a battle, there was no reason that any of them should be afraid of Gaster. He was much faster than his size let on, with hearing and eyesight just as good if not, better. Huffing a breath the colt fixed the Lindworm with a level frown. Why did he always feel the need to make a dramatic entrance? He opened his mouth to playfully scold the Golem when another voice from his blind side startled him a bit, making him jump a bit. Gaster immediately picked his head up and was at Chirin's back in three strides, dwarfing nearly everything around him. The beast kept to the edge of the fair, being mindful of his size. When Chirin turned to see who had snuck up on him, he beamed at the grey mare, “ Oh yeah! I remember you! You're Gwen, right? Sorry, you startled me a bit!” he gave her a wink with his blind right eye, “ I can't see outta this eye anymore.” It was then that he noticed that the mare had gotten paler somehow and then soon figured out why. Glancing over his shoulder, he gave Gwen a confident smile, “ It's okay. He won't hurt you, I promise,” he told her as the Golem laid his head down again, ignoring the two horses beside him altogether, “ See? He knows you are safe for me to be around, so he's not interested.” the colt explained as Maple bounded up to them and gave Gwen a friendly lick on her leg, wagging her fluffy tail. It wasn't long before another colt bounced up to Chirin, bombarding him with questions about Gaster. Chirin just smiled and giggled at the boy's enthusiasm. He was taken aback when he heard a mare, who he assumed was the colt's mother, call him 'Sir'. How old did she think he was? There had to be no more than seven years between him and her own foal. Giving the mare a smile he nodded to her, “ It's alright, ma'am. As you said, he's just curious, no harm done. If anything, he confused Gaster. He hasn't seen a colt react to him like that before.” he said with an amused giggle, giving the younger colt a wink as he left. That was new. He liked that reaction better than most of the other ones. 444 words || post 2

Basvoq
Shield | Harbinger
......
"I believe so- a golem, one of Kaia's blessed beasts. Most of us like to imagine they are more myth than reality-" And he could see why- the golem had an impressive stature and bulk; if raised to its full height it could probably cast a shadow as long as a nearby tree. He had always wanted to see one, not only experience them in traveler's tales, and the fair was the least likely of places he imagined one to rise out of the earth. Basvoq turned to regard the mare who had spoken to him, and a flicker of muddled interest and surprise darted across his features. Kirins were another relic more story than reality for a long time, until a few had found their way into Skeldr town. A younger kirin mare joined the first and he nodded is head in greeting.
A golem and two kirins a trade fair that otherwise would have felt mundane. "I must admit I'm curious." He offered the statement as invitation to the two kirins to follow if they pleased, filing their appearance elsewhere in his mind, before setting off to greet Chirin. He regarded the golem, assessing its size while acknowledging that it remained placid next to the unicorn and the other horses, some rather young, clustered around it.
"Greetings. Is there a danger I should know about? Or are you the official security force for the trade fair?" His tone was cordial, and his humor obvious in the slight smile accompanying his words. He nodded a greeting to Gwen, Estelle, and her son before returning his gaze to the boy and beast.

Gwen | Farmer Gwen saw the slight shock go through Chirin’s shoulders and her eyes flew up to the Lindworm as the beast raised its head and moved closer. Gwen froze on the spot, her eyes widening in fear. She had almost met Gastor the last time she had met Chirin, almost. Now she was wishing the thing would go back under ground, where it’s presence would be less intimidating… although maybe not less scary. Meanwhile Evan poked his head around Gwen's to watch the Lindworm with curiosity, torn between wanting to fly up to the thing and staying close to his adopted horse. Chirin was obviously more at ease around the Lindworm, as he casually explained his blind eye. Which made Gwen stumble through a hasty apology. The cheerfulness of the young unicorn helped to calm her own nerves and the mare was glad to see Gastor lowering its head again. Still, she was nervous enough to jump at the sudden lick on her leg. As she spotted the culprit however, the white mare let out a sigh that quickly turned into a soft laugh. Evan let out a soft screech, staring down at the dog from his position with hard eyes. He was the only familiar deserving of Gwen's attention after all. Distracted as she addressed the friendly dog, Gwen missed most of the appaloosa mare and her son as they quickly moved by. Gwen just watched them go and she vaguely remembered Estelle. The medic now seemed to have a painful looking limp. Gwen frowned slightly in concern and wanted to mention this to Chirin. She stopped herself though when a tall, dark unicorn stepped in and greeted them. He was wearing armor and Gwen dipped her head respectfully low, but she found herself unable to avert her eyes, for the dark stallion appeared to be rather handsome.

Wintera;War Forged|Outcast
Ears swiveled at the sound of her name, a startled expression flickering across the kirin’s features before pale purple eyes caught sight of Akari moving quickly toward her. “Oh, Akari!” The mare greeted, tone rushed though friendly, as she kept a wary gaze upon the stone behemoth in the distance.
At the stammered apology, the older kirin shook her head. “No, no, you’re fine, dear, but I’ve no idea what that thing is,” Wintera explained, heart rate calming slowly as she saw nothing else was really happening. Stance became more certain as she watched the equines around the stone creature, and as the stallion’s explanation filtered into her ears.
Wintera heard the invitation for what it was, though she wasn’t sure she wanted to get up close and personal with one of Kaia’s revered beasts. However...she had to admit she was curious, and this chance to look at a mythic beast was likely the only one she’d get. Imagine Taend’s face when she told him about it!
“I’m going to go get a closer look. You coming, Akari?” Wintera inquired, casting a glance to her younger friend and offering an encouraging smile as she turned to trot after the older unicorn. Surreptitiously, she made sure his bulkier build remained between her and Kaia’s stone golem. She didn’t want to take any chances angering the earth mother’s creation or the little unicorn it was here with.

Chirin's conversation with Gwen was interrupted when more horses started making their way over to them. Among them was a dark unicorn stallion Chirin didn't recognize. He walked up to them boldly, his confidence obvious. He carried himself in a way that echoed Authority. Seeing the stallion get closer, Chirin straightened his posture and met the stallion's eye as he asked his question, “ Good Morning. No Sir. No danger. Gaster is just very protective of me. I've been ambushed to many times in crowds for either of us to be comfortable in them. This is his way of letting others know that if they try to hurt me, they deal with him..... Also, he was bored and thought this would bring him entertainment,” the colt explained. Looking back to Gaster, Chirin noticed that he was glaring pointedly at the dark Stallion, Unease – Caution – Watchful The emotions were a warning. There was something about the stallion that didn't sit right with Gaster, but the Golem had no threat to act on, so he remained passive. Chirin knew better than to ignore the beasts warnings. Turning back to the stallion, Chirin gave him a nod and a light smile, “ But if it comes down to having to protect the Trades Fair, I won't hesitate, Sir.” His voice was even and gave no hints toward the now cautious approach he had for the stallion. Gaster's head shot up the second he caught sight of the Kirin mare walking towards them, and he stood, leaning forward and lowering his head down to meet the mare half way, his muzzle mere feet away from the mare herself. She was the size of some of his smaller teeth and probably a little to close to those teeth to be completely confident. Surprise – Greeting – Pleasant The golem gave the mare a low rumble – his version of a “hello” - as he regarded her, giving her a curt nod. It was nothing more than a shift to him, but for equines, it was a respectful greeting and he knew that. Straightening back upright, Gaster took note that there were a bit too many horses around him now. If he wanted to avoid harming innocent, he would need to be absent. At least from the immediate topsoil, anyways. The golem looked at Chirin and gave the colt a deeper nod, Reassurance – Departure Turning away from the gathering of horses and the fair, Gaster slipped through the surface of the earth as easily as a fish swimming through water, the crater once again healing over and leaving no evidence that he was ever there. Chirin gave the kirin mare a wide smile, “ He says 'Hi', by the way!” he called with a laugh, as the air around him got significantly colder, his breath visible, despite the warmer temperature everywhere else. Specks of frost accumulated on the colts curly fur and the grass beneath him as his Blessing acted up with his childish amusement. 499 words || post 3

Akari "C-Can I help you?"
WC:183 | Post 2 The red kirin hummed slightly to herself, hearing Basvoq tell Winterra what the thing was. She looked over at it, in mild awe. A mythical beast such as that... It certainly was interesting. She started to get lost in her thoughts, when Basvoq made his invitation for Akari and Wintera to head over there with him, to meet the golem. Akari looked up at Wintera, a little unsure. She didn't want to leave the older Kirin's side, now that they were near the center of the crowd, when Wintera posed her question to Akari. "Of course." Akari gave a small nod, quickly following Wintera towards the Golem, and the group of horses gathered near it. She stuck to Wintera's side, peering around her to view the golem, and the others. Her tail swished behind her, nervous as she was amongst this group made of primarily strangers. After all, Akari... Didn't get out much. At all. She gave a small smile when she saw the golem nod towards Wintera and herself, nodding in return to the massive creature, before it disappeared back into the earth.

anna
Medic
Anna ignored the golem, recalling it from her last interaction with Chirin. She didn’t need to focus herself on trivial pets, not right now. She had business to do. Or business she would like to be doing. “This is not medicine.” She said bluntly, the merchant in front of her having ignored her initial greetings only to heft a huge hammer onto the counter of the booth. The hammer looked old, dirty, and all-in-all worthless. If Anna’s mood had been sour before, it was now edged with a touch of ire.
“Do you take me for an idiot?” She cocked her head, her eyes narrowed.
“I do not,” The merchant responded. He stood up taller. “This is Sibba.” Anna crooked an eyebrow.
“I asked if you had medicine, mobility equipment, or herbs. A hammer with a name is not one of those things.” She stepped forward and shoved the hammer over, her face marred by distaste. Instantaneously, the world seemed to invert around her. Around everyone at the trade fair.
The weather changed from rolling storm clouds to a clear sky. The sky from blue to orange. The grass from green to a dusky purple. It is an inversion of the area she’d been standing in before, and yet, still more had been manipulated. She felt heavier on her feet, as if the Earth was pulling her towards its core. Gravity appeared to have been affected as well, and now each step she took away from the merchant, and the hammer, felt like a challenge.
“What is that?” She asked, in horror.
2 | 288 ** Whoops, looks like Sibba has done something. Our area has just been inverted, and normal gravity has been lost! : )

Gwen | Farmer Chirin had straightened up to face the dark unicorn and as he spoke, Gwen thought he seemed a bit tense, maybe even warry. She didn’t understand that reaction, but maybe she’d missed something? She watched Basvoq carefully, his armour suggested he was a Shield, which was a good thing. Gwen found herself staring at the white face of the stallion and quickly looked away, feeling her face heat up with embarrassment and hoping that no one had noticed. The shy mare now realized the gathering of horses, coming to see Chirin and his Lindworm. Starting to get nervous, Gwen stepped back from the group. Her eyes kept flickering to their faces, just in case anyone addressed her. But it was difficult to keep track of so many silent voices. She noticed Gastor retreat and felt relief wash over her. She’s done pretty well, maybe it was fine to mumble a goodbye and return to the stalls. As she thought about it though, her eyes once again settled on the handsome Shield. Suddenly the world changed and Gwen gasped in shock while Evan screeched, pressing his small body down into her neck. An unnatural shade of orange filled the sky above while the grass around her hooves turned to a pale purple. The mare blinked a couple of times, but it was no trick of her eyes. Frightened, she wanted to step back and only then noticed how much effort it took. Gwen was pretty strong though and fueled by adrenaline so she managed to take a couple of steps. What was going on? Red hot panic started to pool in her gut and she watched the other horses, desperately seeking for some explanation, something to hold on to.

Basvoq
Shield | Harbinger
......
A series of minor surprises were to be expected- two kirins and a golem were, he supposed, preternatural perhaps a few years ago. Now oddities were making themselves known outside of the shadows, and reports of strange happenings across the land could not be ignored. After all, the chance to mingle with the rumors and stories that traveling merchants always carried had drawn him to the trade fair in the first place. The kirins and the golem were unusual, yes, but not unexpected. The hammer was.
It felt as though a bolt of lightning struck the land, with tremors of energy snaking out from the source to corrupt everything they passed through. As the grass rippled beneath his hooves, lush green darkening to an unpleasant hue, the skies above inverted to an orange glow. At the same time, his armor seemed to double in weight, pressing down on his spine as if to push him down into the earth. As he buckled down, resisting the growing force, his eyes met Gwen's and in that moment he knew the inversion was not an illusion he alone was privy to. A surge of fear gripped him, tight as the hammer's binding force, that brought with it an immediate need to find the source of the strange entity.
"Careful- don't exhaust yourselves!" He called out to the others, biting down his own instinctual urge to tear away and fight the deadening pull of the hammer. He had to keep his mind sharp- Slowly, uncertain of what he would see, the unicorn turned towards the force beckoning him and embraced its steady pull. "I'm going to take a look."
Step by step he approached the trader, the medic, and the once inconspicuous hammer, not recognizing it as he approached. Each step was precise, cloven hooves dug into the earth to provide traction and resist the pull- it felt as though he was teetering on the edge of some unknown void, and a misstep would send him over into the dark plane.
"Trader, what have you done? We're imprisoned here!" He knew not the medic nor the trader and addressed them both, his voice hoarse, as though too forced from him by the hammer.

Like a switch flicked in her mind, suddenly the world warped and she staggered backward. She blinked furiously, trying to fix the colors with renewed focus. Rue screamed and landed on her back with a heavy thud. Her talons clawed into Goss's back and the mare gasped, feeling blood trickle down the inside of her cloak.
Screams echoed on all sides. A shield called above the din, moving slowly toward one of the merchant stalls. She squeezed her eyes shut and tried to wake up- but she knew on some level this wasn't a dreamscape, no matter how warped and twisted the reality was. The bright orange sky pricked her eyes and she averted her gaze downward to the now-cool grass. Rue flapped about on her back in a frenzy.
Her feet felt like molten lead welded to the earth, and she heaved herself a few meters over to where a small mare similarly looked terrified. She hadn't planned on talking to anyone today but the circumstances sparked her instinct to find security in numbers.
"What's happening?!"

Wintera;War Forged|Outcast
It was with a self of relief that Wintera listened to the little unicorn explaining that the giant stone creature was only protective, and didn’t mean to scare or harm anyone at the Trade Fair. However, that relief was short lived as the golem named Gaster moved forward and came face to face with the mare.
Ears flicked back and the kirin froze in place, hardly even daring to breath. Oh Ignacio, was all she could think, before the creature moved backward and disappeared into the earth beneath them. Breath rushed inward in a gasp she was released from the fear, wide gaze shifting to fix on Chirin.
“Th-that was a hello?” Wintera demanded, hating the stutter that crept into her voice, a product of the fright she’d felt.
However, the mare barely had time to settle herself, for as she turned to speak to Akari at her side, something else happened.
It felt like things had abruptly become reversed, the grass beneath them was a purple hue, the sky above was orange. She also felt so very, very heavy. Wintera was strong, but moving was still a struggle.
“What happened?!” Voice was even more panicked now.

Killian | Merchant Killian didn't get very far before something strange happened. The world shifted around him, and the shock of the distorted reality caused Killian's illusion to blink and sputter. He was panicked and tried to back away from the gathering crowds, and was surprised to find his weight was altered, and his feet grew heavier with every step backwards.
He looked to the direction of the commotion. It was then that he recognized Goss among the crowds... it had been MONTHS since she'd been working for him, months since Cip and the Flanks had attacked his shop on the eastern coast and attempted to capture her along with Newt, Cricket, and himself. Just as Killian had felt guilt over the twin's unneeded involvement, some of that guilt lingered for Goss. She had abruptly quit after Killian's involvement with the Flanks had been exposed. Goss had even refused to work for Helen, and that's all Killian or his mother knew after that. Seeing her would have piqued his curiosity if it hadn't been for these stranger circumstances.
On guard, he stepped closer to the horde to eavesdrop, eyes falling on the hammer which now lay at the foot of the stall. It was obviously emanating strong power. It gave Killian chills.
It reminded him of Vidar's Ghostface.

Gwen | Farmer Gwen tried to even out her breaths as he chest tightened with panic. The mare watched as Basvoq warned them to be careful, then the dark stallion turned and walked away. Slowly, with measured steps, he approached the merchants booth where Anna was standing as well. The small horse looked equally furious and horrified. Gwen didn’t know why Basvoq walked that way, she hadn’t yet realized what caused their predicament, but she instantly followed the stallion. He was a strong looking Shield, he was safety. Gwen looked back to see if Chirin would follow, but she didn’t wait for him. The white mare was still trying to adjust to the altered colours and her head started to throb. Walking was difficult, for she felt so much heavier, sweat started to prickle on her brow, but she kept going. Her eyes wandered over the frightened horses as she walked and she caught a weird flicker at the edge of the crowd. The Pegasus standing there seemed to flutter between forms, his body shifting between a generic one and that of a small, fat pony. Gwen paused, wondering if what she saw was part of… whatever was happening. But she didn’t stop to ponder for too long, keeping up with the Shield as they reached Anna and he started to speak. Other horses seemed to think there was safety in numbers, for they too started to approach the booth. Gwen spotted a pale unicorn with a distraught looking great grey owl on her back. She felt sympathy for the mare, as the farmer recognized her own situation. Evan had been shifting around on her back as much as he could, confused and scared. But Gwen doubted the young barn owl was able to fly. As much as she wanted to flee herself, the shy mare was staying close to others right now.

Maple was barking playfully at the frost near Chirin's hooves when the colors around the cold changed dramatically. Green grass turned purple and the blue sky turned orange. At first, Chirin thought it was his vision but after blinking and giving his head a shake, he determined that, no, it was not his eyesight. Moments later he started to feel heavy. Very heavy. There was a tingle of annoyance from Gaster, but otherwise, the Golem ignored the event, sensing no actual danger thus far.
Chirin wasn't scared either. Just.... really confused. He pawed at the purple grass, cocking a brow. Curiously, he dragged the tip of a cloven hoof across the grass and his once sparkling white frost came out black instead, “Oh whaaaaat? This is kinda cool!” he said in a sort of amusement that only a child could pull off. Maple wasn't overly fond of the added weight, opting to lay down on the grass instead.
Chirin dragged his heavy hooves over the ground, trailing more black frost. Aside from the increased gravity, this was one of his funner days. Lifting his head the colt let out a giggle, “Is someone messing with Gravity and Reality Manipulation? This is so much fun! I mean, I could do without the weight, but it's just SO NIFTY!” 217 words || post 4

anna
Medic
The merchant cocked his head, looking idly at the inversion that had spread out across the fair. His demeanor was calm as opposed to the panic of the crowd. The little medic, herself, scrambled back away from him, despite the Shield, Basvoq’s warning not to over exert oneself. She did jerk her head in his direction at the sound of his question, snarling her answer amidst her panic, “I touched the damn hammer and this happened! I asked him for medicines and is a hammer he placed upon the bench!” The merchant merely regards them both cooly and stepped back away from his cart, tugging it along behind him.
If he was affected by the changed gravity, it hardly seemed like it. Anna momentarily thought that perhaps he could control his own density. She could as well, but only when she was extremely focused or terrified. She certainly wasn’ t focused, but she did feel lighter on her hooves, if only momentarily. She used her newfound freedom to skitter backwards much quicker than she had before, in the direction of the Herder, Gosslyn leaving the Shield to deal with the problem.
However, looking into the distance she saw dusky green grass once more. “Shield! Leave the hammer for now and help us get to the unaffected area. We can hunt down the tradesman once we are unaffected by this sick magic,” her voice is venomous and angry. She doesn’t like feeling afraid, very rarely does to this extent, but the magnificent power of the gods is enough to make her tremble easily.
She turned to Gosslyn, “Come on, let’s get out of here. I can treat your wounds,” As she began to think rationally once more, Anna felt her weight drop back to normal, stark and shocking. She stumbled down to her knees and then pushed herself up with great effort, sweat matting her neck. She looked at the kirins and pointed her head in the direction from whence she’d seen the unaffected grass. The crowd was riling itself into some type of a panic now, dragging themselves amok.
“Chirin!” Anna snapped, remembering the child. He seemed not to have realized just how bad the gravity was tugging, and getting worse as time went on. “Stop playing and help clear a path for us to get to the normal area.” she yelled again, nodding her head in the general direction. She could use with the golem tearing through the row of carts so that they could walk out of the area.

Wintera;War Forged|Outcast
The scaled mare was scared, her eyes wide and tail lashing, though the motion was incredibly slow and it took her brain a moment to catch up. Wintera made an effort to stop the motion, to stop wasting the energy used, as the tug of gravity seemed to increase incrementally.
Breathing started to quicken to a frenzied pace, before the kirin forced herself to breath evenly, deeply, trying to quell a sense of panic. This was all because of a hammer and a merchant, nothing more, she told herself sternly. She hadn’t pissed of Kaia or drawn the ire of one of Hira’s shields. It was okay...sort of.
“Akari, come on! Move!” Wintera called, voice reflecting a maternal worry and concern, her fright, but also her determination to get out of the chaos in one piece. She turned her antlers and gently pushed the young kirin’s scaled hindquarters toward where the medic had pointed them. She could see the normality of green grass, and it made hope flutter in her chest.
They just had to get there!
“Just plant one leg in front of the other and push, Akari. You can do this!” Wintera panted, words encouraging as she pushed against the earth with her own strong legs, propelling herself toward safety, though she could already feel muscles quivering with the exertion she had demanded of them.

Basvoq
Shield | Harbinger
......
For a moment a flicker of uncertainty passed over his features- longing as he considered the oddly drab hammer and the power it possessed. He imagined reaching out and snapping it up... and then the impulse passed and he remembered himself. First get to safety, then find that merchant, then return for the hammer. Basvoq wheeled around, tearing his gaze from the hammer, and back to the others all plagued by its power. The immense pull was becoming painful, as if grinding his bones down on top of another, and he willed himself to take his first step away from the source.
"Everyone, move! The sensation is getting worse- leave the area while you still can! I'm right behind you." Basvoq bellowed his words of encouragement and surged forward, each step laborious as though running through thick, churning water. He unbuckled his shoulder armor and cast it aside, for the armor had felt as though it had been biting down into his flesh. The change was not much, but it steadied him. They were almost out of the affected area, and as the panic from his mind became controlled he called out, "Once we reach the safe area I am stopping the merchant before he gets too far. Any who are able should join me, before that hammer can do more damage."

Akari "C-Can I help you?"
Post 3 | WC:181 "Wintera, what's going on?" Akari asked when the world shifted, pressing against the mare's side. "I... I don't like this..." She mumbled, looking around, her eyes wide with her own fear and worry about the situation. "O-Oh, right..." Akari replied as Wintera pushed her to move. The gravity was... Harsh, to say the least, as Akari started to push her way through it. She wasn't terribly strong herself, so Wintera pushing her was... mildly appreciated, as they started to make some small progress towards the normal green grass... There wasn't much else that Akari could do. Her ears flicked towards others as they spoke - The horse who had spoken to the merchant before the world went crazy, telling others she could tend to their wounds once they were outside this area... The shield, trying to get more people to move... Everything had gone crazy, and certainly in one of the worst possible ways... At least in Akari's opinion. She wished she had stayed home to continue studying treatments and modern language. Today had been a bad day to leave the house.

Gwen | Farmer Gwen watched as Anna and Basvoq extended some words, but she couldn’t follow what they said. The white mare closed her eyes tightly, knitting her brow against the pain drumming through her head with each quickened heartbeat. Evan had finally been forced to settle down. The young owl had his beak open in stress, his body pressed flush against the mare’s withers. Gwen opened her eyes again and saw Anna falling to her knees, but before she could reach out to help, the small horse pushed herself up again. Gwen swallowed hard, impressed by Anna’s willpower. The Falabella motioned her chin towards what appeared to be more natural coloured grass. Kirins and unicorns started to move towards what was hopefully a safer area. Basvoq said something as well, straitening his shoulders as he braced himself. Gwen wasn’t quite able to see what it was he’d said, but she could make some guesses. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself as well. “Hold on Evan.” The white mare thought as she started to move again. Only to halt a few moment later when she saw the armour coming of the Shields shoulders and falling heavily into the purple grass. Gwen looked at the Shield and back to the armour, considering for only a moment before her green teke reached out. The downwards force of the gravity however had steadily grown stronger and the mare found herself unable to lift the armour, instead dragging it with her as best she could while slowly following the others to safety.
