Oh my darling, it's true. Beautiful things have dents and scratches, too. Lynx breathed a huge sigh of relief, damn near close to tears as her tired hooves carried her through the sounds and scents of a huge group of equines, obviously used to their desert home. Or what was left of it. The trek from outside Osulas was brutal, and she had no idea what remained of her little home in the cliffside, a little pasture of grass for her dairy goats. A pretty beaded curtain before the door and a lively little home for a creative mare.
That wasn't home anymore. Not since the Aodhians marched. The beautiful and culturally rich land of Sedo was not the same anymore as Serorans were forced to destroy their homes and heritage. The fiery equines breached the precious borders of Sedo, reaching across Alya's land, and dealing with prisoners the way any Aodhian would. Imprisonment was not an option. It was death. Or it was slavery.
Her heart broke at the thought of the equines left behind. Farsight, Madden, Aragon. The three of them were braver than she ever could be. She'd come to terms with that quickly. She'd even admitted to being a bit of a coward, not being able to do much in the way of help her herd.
The smoky cream mare shook her head as she trotted on tired and achy hooves. Her light jogging pace wasn't too much in the highly populated Oasis, so graciously provided by the Wind Mother herself. Cardinal eyes glanced back and forth constantly, looking for familiar faces, for loved ones, for the group members left behind... and for Helios.

When word of his Seroran kin's return reached his ears the pearl didn't know what to think, whispers of fighting and other things made his skin crawl. He wasn't built for war or pain, he was a gentle as a summer breeze and if the red hot of Ignacio's Aodhians continued to fill Sedo, he didn't know how long he would last. The second he learned of the kidnapping however he instantly took to the sky, flapping hard with just enough room to climb up and over the years of the crowd, the only thought of his kind was to find Lynx, the little mare he he cared for more then he realized With his white wings spread he glided over the tops of his gathered herd, bicoloured eyes searching out anything he remembered of his Lynx. He searched for the gleam of her bridle, the flutter of his feathers behind her ears, the colourful beads around her neck... or the soft shine of her gorgeous mane, anything to know she was safe and sound. As the minutes ticked by and he saw nothing of her... his heart began to pound in his ears and for a moment hos breath hitched as panic began to set in. What if it was her?, what if shed been the one who was taken?, just the mere thought made his eyes grew wet

Oh my darling, it's true. Beautiful things have dents and scratches, too. Lynx let her pace slow, her heart thudding against her chest. This was not home. She didn't quite know how it could be home, truthfully. It wasn't too bad, considering the Aodhians would be unable to reach them, but there was so much sadness that she felt for what had been such a beautiful life for a mass of herd mates... for a huge family. It had been shaken to the root and ripped apart at the seams.
Her tired hooves shook a moment, and she stopped to stand for a brief second to look at her reflection in a window. The mare staring back at her was not the beautiful creative mare that had left the little field outside of Osulas. The mare staring back at her was dirty and dusty. Her forelock and mane were as kept as they could have been while trekking across Sedo. Her bridle shone under a fine layer of dust, and she felt the itch of sand in her coat. The cardinal red eyes staring back at her were glazed with exhaustion and sadness.
A sigh escaped her spotted muzzle. She looked so rough and she felt even rougher. Lynx took a huge breath, using the magic blessed upon her to clear her mind and allow her heart rate to slow. The trance was an almost blissful silence, but there were horses to find, and she couldn't stay forever.
As she focused back in on the world around her, the cream mare had noticed that despite the sandy layer over her being, it seemed that Helios's feathers, still snugly attached to the throatlatch of her bridle shone brighter than ever. Her eyes looked towards the sky, searching for the beautiful white wings of the pegasus.
With a tiny renewed vigor, she forced herself through crowds haphazardly, calling his name, desperate to see Helios come through the crowds.

The longer Helios Looked the more his fears grew, had Lynx been the one captured? No it couldn't be, could it?. Winging his way above the crowd his hopes started to drop, what could he do to help her if it was her who had been taken? He was a bloody coward and throughout the battles and the attack from Aodh he'd sat by and let others fight his battles. He was drenched in his own piss the last battle and even that didn't end too well, "Lynx..." he muttered quietly, the words thick on his tongue as he swallowed hard past the lump in his throat Then for a moment his ears twitched and he halted in his search, Helios? Someone was calling his name!. With a quick back turn of his wings he spun mid air, eyes searching desperately for the source of the call... He didn't have to look too long for he caught the shimmer of her coat, the glint in her bridle and then the soft flutter of feathers, his feather, those special feathers he had gifted her all that time ago. "Lynx!" he called out, his voice thrumming with desperation to be near her, just to be close to her to make sure she was okay He flapped quickly and headed straight for her, not caring for the herd members he buffeted and bumped into as he landed. He tucked his wings away as quickly and delicately as he dared, pushing his way towards her till she was right there before him. "Lynx... the words came out breathlessly as he stared down at her, his gaze soft and greatly, she was right here, safe and alive. "By Alya's Wings... ", he stood still and quiet for the longest moment, his bicoloured eyes locked in hers and for a brief second his lip quivered then he moved in close and wrapped his neck around hers, using his wings to pull her in as close to his body as physically possible. As he warmth engulfed him tears began to him in his eyes, "...I thought I had Lost you"

Oh my darling, it's true. Beautiful things have dents and scratches, too. Lynx trotted slowly through the crowds, gazing around and looking for the beautiful pearl and white coat of the stallion she didn't expect to care for as much as she did. But the time apart in the trouble plaguing Sedo made it obvious to her heart. She cared so much for Helios. Whether he felt the same, however, she wasn't sure.
But that didn't matter now. Friends or moreso, she needed him. So her tired hooves carried on, ears swiveling in directions all around her, making sure to listen for any sort of hints or replies. They strained to hear his voice, or a voice pointing in the direction for her to follow. It was then she heard her name, and she raised her head and was about to reply, but it was too late.
She slammed on the brakes, her hooves skidding on the sand as a handsome stallion appeared before her, her eyes taking in the sight of Helios as he landed gracefully before her, his beautiful bicolored eyes meeting her tired ones. She breathed his name under her breath as he pulled her closer with his snowy wings, letting her exhausted body cling to him as he embraced her.
"Helios..." she breathed. She had no words. Breathless, speechless, and overwhelmed with emotion, she pressed her face against his neck, almost unable to believe that she had been reunited with him. SaveSave

It's was like he couldn't believe it, she was right here in his wings safe and sound. He could feel her breath against his skin and hear warmth pressed in against his chest, even the pressure of her bridle against his neck didn't stop him, beads were a pointless thought when he'd almost lost the one he cared for the most. He paused for a moment as white hot tears dripped down his cheeks... Did he really care for her more then anyone else? They had spent so much time together that he hadn't even realized... apart from his adoptive mothers and siblings was Lynx really closer to his heart then he had known?. He pressed his lips together when she breathed out his name, wordlessly, almost breathlessly, "I thought I had lost you... " he whispered to her, finally breathing the swell of emotion with cold hard words. "When I had heard someone had been taken... someone from your own group... I thought in my heart of hearts that it had been you. By mothers wings I am so glad it was not. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I had lost you this day"

Oh my darling, it's true. Beautiful things have dents and scratches, too. The little mare breathed a heavy sigh as Helios spoke. She shook her head calmly. "No, dear. I definitely was not captured... Farsight was..." she sighed. "We were stopping around midnight and we heard voices and Zenith... they found it was Aodhians. Me, Daemyn, and Zenith ran. Madden and Farsight and Aragon stayed behind to check it out... I think Madden and Aragon made it to safety, too..." She paused for a moment, her own eyes watering as she pressed her face into Helios's neck. "I feel such a coward. I can't fight in this war. I couldn't save one of our own. I ran like a freaking filly..."
Lynx felt her heart rate hammering faster against her chest, and she took a deep breath and pressed against him, his warmth and kind voice comforting. This whole thing had left her tired, anxiety ridden, and sad. Her usual pristine appearance was marred by sand and tangles in the ends of her mane and tail and this depressed her more.
But Helios was the sun, the light at the end of the tunnel. He was sweet and kind and his presence was one thing that had helped her more than anything out in the middle of the Seroran Desert could even grasp.

Her body heat against him made him want to hold on tighter and never let go, he couldn't let her go, not now not after what she had been through. He listened quietly to her words, saddened and desperate for help, her voice filled with guilt like she blamed herself for what happened. Near the end however he found himself hushing her soothingly like a parent hushing a child when they were upset, " Hush now..." he hummed into her shoulder, brushing off some of the sand that clung to her coat with his soft peachy take, "None of it was your fault. You are no fighter, you are not made to war against those invaders"He pushed closer into Her, her scent engulfing him as he exhaled slowly. She was so much like him, he was no fighter either... he was however a coward and for a brief moment he found himself frowning, the rare expression alien against his features. "You are no coward, I've watched you face raging rivers and steep cliff sides and even that one stray wild dog to save your goats... That's not any kind of cowardice I know. It be daft to believe otherwise". He wanted to pull away and stare into her eyes just to show her he meant it but he couldn't pull himself away, she was his drug and he just couldn't let go

Oh my darling, it's true. Beautiful things have dents and scratches, too. She couldn't be more grateful for the words Helios spoke to her, reassuring her that she was no coward and reminding her of all the predators and horrendous terrain she'd braved to keep her herd and livelihood safe. "Thank you," she breathed, not ever truly wanting to step away from him. It was quite a while before she moved or spoke, letting herself be calmed by the comforting warmth and scent of the stallion before her.
She stepped back just enough to meet his eyes before she continued. "My goats... Did they make it?" she asked nervously. Her sweet little herd of dairy goats were little friends to her, and she'd prayed to the Wind Mother to let them arrive safely alongside Helios. "Where are you staying?" she also asked.
This was new and different and she didn't know how she felt about it, but she figured as long as she had Helios, he'd help her adjust to life in the Oasis. She knew he'd comfort her when she needed it, as the events in the desert captured her mind and ensnared her, riddling her with anxiety and sadness. Helios had been something so dear to her heart, but now he was her rock, and she would lean on him, and allow him to do the same.
