The iron clang of Avocado’s horseshoes slammed against the stone, her tail whipping out behind her as she moved. Her teeth were clenched together, nostrils flared as she walked.
Her brother, the big oaf, had been hiding something important. That dumbass was dating someone. Not just anyone. A kirin. The ancestral murderers of their people. Avocado normally had nothing against the antlered equine. Jushiro had seemed alright. But this was her family. And like hell would those antlers carve her brother. Taend was going to listen, if she had to take a chunk out of him to make sure.
The Frozen Horn was her destination, and as she broke through the door, nostrils flared and head low, none of the patrons dared try to flirt or make remarks. They looked away as she moved into the establishment, the solid thud of her hooves landing against the wooden floor filling her ears.
She didn't even let her brother speak, fixing him with a sharp glare. Through clenched teeth, she spoke.
“You and I need to have a chat.” Her ears were flagged, sharp peridot gleaming in the light. Ava was serious, and she wouldn't take no for an answer.

The day had been long, many patrons coming through- most the old and young. It saddened him greatly, many of his usual patrons were gone to the war against Serora, something he thought horribly pointless. Though now it wasn’t as crowded, a normal amount if he was honest.Though the earlier rush had made him flee behind the counter, the crowded floor making him skittish. Something he didn’t like to admit. It had been like that all day. He had jumped at every creak and moan of the building, feeling compressed by the overwhelming crowds. At one point he had to flee to his forge just to be able to breathe.
He hadn’t seen much of Wintera, which concerned him, but he knew better than to go searching for the kirin when she didn’t want to be found.
At the moment, he was behind the counter shining glasses and trying to ignore the anxiety whispering in the back of his head. He didn’t know why, but the air felt tense, just waiting to burst. As if to answer is fears, the door to his tavern swung open, hitting the adjacent wall harshly. Taend to jump at the noise, hissing slightly. He turned around to tell the patron off, only to stop at the enraged valkyrie before him.
He was immediately set on edge.
He set the glasses down and watched as she stalked forward, internally cringing at each crack of her hooves. ‘She’s going to scuff the floors at this point’. His thoughts halted as she stopped before the counter and spoke her words.
He stared back at her, feeling the anxiety in his brain increase tenfold. He didn’t like being trapped.
He only swallowed and nodded. He pulled out the honor jar and whistled. A round of affirmatives met his ears as he walked back to the forge. He almost wanted to turn around and flee into the kitchen, he didn’t like the way she prowled behind him like a predator. The moment he entered the lit forge he stopped at the center of the room, closing the door behind her. “So, what did you want to talk about Ava?”

WC: 259| Post #2 Ava stalked behind her brother, raising her head when they entered the forge. Her muzzle wrinkled. Under the scent of the forge, and the scent of her brother, was something else. Crisper. She turned her eyes to Taend.
Some part of her desperately hoped she was wrong. But, green drifted over the pelts in the corner, and she knew. Someone had been sleeping in here. And it was the origin of the crisper scent. She felt a fire light in her blood, nostrils flaring wide. He was. Her muscles began to tremble, ears pinning further to her head.
With a rasp of metal against metal, she yanked a saber out of a barrel of completed weapons, pawing the ground like a bull. Her nostrils flared madly, green shrinking in a sea of white as she held the saber towards her brother.
“You're with that kirin.” She snapped.
“The creatures of fire who killed our people. Are you daft?!” Still holding the saber, she threw her head high, one leg poised to strike.
“She’s gonna skewer you on those antlers while you sleep Taend!” Ava was quivering at this point, outlined in the fire’s glow as she was. She grimly began to expect a fight, even as she watched her brother’s every motion. The last time they had fought, it was play. Ava had been small, untrained, and angry. Now, she was a trained warrior, of hardened lean muscle.
It would be a hell of a fight, should it happen.

Taend watched his sister’s eyes, his muscle tensing in each passing second of stifling silence. He stepped back at the flare of her nostrils- knowing full well what that meant.
Then he heard the scrape of metal and his vision was filled with the sheen of a blade.
His body reacted faster than his brain. He would come to regret it later.
His teke wrapped around his great axe that had been resting up against the anvil, where it had been waiting for a sharpening. It made an arc over Taend’s head and came crashing down in front of him, a blind swing made by muscle reflex and not actual control. He didn’t hear is the axe met anything. As he did this his body backed away from Ava, his hind legs bumping up against the anvil behind him.
His chest began to heave as his breathes increased. He hated being cornered, hated being trapped. He was stuck between the anvil and his pissed off sister. From his fear came rage, a primal rage to try and escape. His muscles quivered as he heaved and gave her a look that came straight out of hell. He was terrified and enraged, he needed out.
Now.
“Ava, put the sword down. Now.” His voice came out tight and hateful, his bicolored eyes giving her a primal glare that only barely expressed the rage he felt in his gullet. As he stood his axe stayed in front of him, gleaming in the fire light with a deadly promise.
He trembled there with both barely restrained terror and rampant rage.

Ava flinched away rapidly, eyes going wide as the axe came swinging towards her. For a moment, she looked terrified that her brother was gonna swing it at her. The sword she had been holding was flung out of her grip, striking the floorboards.
She stared at Taend, fear mingling with the rage in her eyes as she thought for a moment. Calmly, she made to turn, unraveling the braids her hair was in. Outside the door, familiars and wild beasts alike began to go haywire as her blessing reacted to her turmoil. Ava’s face was an eerie mask of calm, the only sound in the room the sound of Taend’s rapid breath and the crackle of the fire. Green teke shone over the doorknob, the saber being put away in the barrel again.
Ava halted, ears flicking as she thought to herself. She had been taught how to fight horses larger than her. Not that she wanted to hurt her brother, but now it was to prove a point. Mother would be disappointed in her next actions.
She whirled on a dime, pure fury in normally emotionless green. Her widly flared nostrils and clenched teeth were only visible for a moment, before she slammed her hooves into the wooden floor, pawing and tossing her head for a moment, before bull rushing her brother, bunching up her neck and shortening her stride to get more power behind the hit at such a short distance.
If he wouldn't listen to her, like so many other stallions, she would make him listen.

Taend’s eyes widened as he saw his sister’s boiling rage seemingly cool. He trembled as the air began to crackle with the howls and hisses of animals all across Skelder. He watched as she walked to the door and put the sword away, sighing in relief. He put his own axe down, thinking she would go and cool off before speaking again.
The sudden ram into his side proved him wrong.
His mother will be ashamed.
Letting out an enraged yell, Taened used his instincts, refined in battle with friends and his mentor. Teke clawed into the loose mane and wrenched the mare out from his side. He whirled and struck his giant hoof into the mare’s chest, not letting go of her hair, knowing full well he drew blood.
He was pissed now, and how he’s going to prove his own point.
He then let got of her hair for a brief moment and then rammed into her with all his strength, not knocking her down, but easily pushing her back. As he stalked forward he picked up his axe once again, this time, making it very clear he knew where to swing.
His fear was forgotten, now his whole being was boiling in rage.
His heart pounded in his ears, his muscles convulsed with each pound, his jaw was strung taught as his teeth ground. Above all else, he loomed over the mare, making a point to openly show his seething hatred.
This, this was his breaking point.
Ava had made a terrible mistake of crossing it.
He growled and spoke for the first time in those tense minutes. “So, dear sister, you believe you know her. You belive you know what is best? Well I will make this clear to you now- YOU DO NOT DECIDE MY ACTIONS. YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER ME, AND BY IGNACIO DON’T YOU DARE ACT AS IF YOU ARE ABOVE ME. I know the risks, I know the dangers, do you seriously think I have not considered the implications of such a relationship. Well, I’m glad to know where you think my competence lies. I will not continue this fight, it’s petty and I refuse to entertain your blind rage.” He stepped forward, throwing the axe and imbedding it within the wood at Ava’s feet. He brought his head down low, sending a seething glare into her green orbs. He said two words, tight and exuding his loathing of her very existence.
“Get. Out.”
He stepped back and turned away, walking towards the forge, making a point to pick up a blade and have it at the ready.
“And don’t come back until you’ve learned to stop acting like a child.”
With that he turned around and didn’t give any eye contact, only pretending to inspect the blade. He paused for a moment, then he glanced over his shoulder- the air suddenly feeling very cold.
"If you go after Wintera, not even the Stars will be able to save you from my wrath. So, Ava, if you value your life, leave the kirin alone."

He had fucking drew blood. Ava had her ears flattened to her head, shaking. With rage or terror was something yet to be seen from the small woman.
But Ava wasn't done.
“So thats it then.” She snarled, gathering her hooves directly under her to stand as tall as she could.
“You are allowed to be worried. You are allowed to threaten anyone I dare date. But the moment i try to do it in return, you think I'm calling you incompetent. How about you tell Apple the same thing huh? Maybe go ahead and arrange a marriage for both of us?” Ava threw the door to the forge open, glaring out of it for just a moment, before snorting.
“I thought you were different. I see now that i was wrong.” All of the times she had gone to Taend with her problems, and he thought she was just going to roll over. She marched through the door, but not before calling over her shoulder, nostrils flared.
“Talk to me again when you act like my brother again!” With that, she slammed the door to the Frozen Horn. Parts of her mane had been yanked out in the fight, and she had a trail of blood droplets following her from the steadily bleeding wound on her chest.
She refused to look back.

Wintera | Kirin Outcast The small kirin hummed to herself as she trotted back toward the Frozen Horn, moving quickly to keep herself warm in this Ignacio cursed winter of Onea. Would she ever get used to it? Doubtful. But the big pelt she had wrapped about herself certainly helped, with a hood fashioned to attempt to hide her antlers...but it really didn't work all that well. Really it just made it incredibly hard to turn her head and made her look entirely disfigured...and while she wasn't an insufferably vain creature, it hurt her sense of beauty. So currently the folds of white and black were pooled about her neck, kept up by the saddlebags tossed over her shoulders to keep the assortment of items she been sent to the market to fetch. Jams, herbs, fresh butter. Even a small sack of winter grain until the main order could be brought over by one of those crazily strong ponies. Really, it was pretty funny how short and plain they were, with not a scale or antler or horn about them! Musing thoughts were brought to a screeching halt though, as shouting assaulted her ears, dainty hooves coming to a stop in the slush of the path, pale eyes widening as the figure of Avacado came into sight. The kirin fought the urge to slink off the path and hide, but nearly failed until she saw--Was that blood?! The unicorn was sporting a wound across her chest, leaving a spotted red train from the tavern. Heart caught in her throat and an uncertain, scared expression stole across the kirin's features. With a hiccup she dashed forward, barreling past the Valkyrie toward the forge. "TAEND?" Wintera yelled, seeking to find him and make sure he was okay. Post 1 | WC 293

The moment Ava was out the door Taend collapsed. Tears burned at the back of his eyes as he heaved great breaths, his whole body trembling. His former anger flickered and died, leaving the freezing horror of what he'd done in its wake. His lungs ached as his breath quickened, the fear and guilt crashing down in on him.
Fear for his sister. Fear for Wintera. Fear for his family.
Soon enough the fear spurred him into action. He jumped to his feet and made a b-line for the door. He tried in vain to ignore the axe head in the floor and the blood staining the wood. Just as he was about to open the door, it swung wide open, revealing the silhouette of Wintera.
"Wintera..."
With a great sigh he shakily drew the mare inside and brought her to his chest. He buried his muzzle in her mane and tried to get his breathing under control. Though his body still quivered and shook.

Breath was drawn in quickly as the mare cleared the door and was abruptly pulled close to a large, warm body. The same air was expelled in relief at the instant realization that it was Taend, and from a quick glance he seemed whole and largely unhurt. But he was definitely shaking, she could feel the tremors racing through his body, affecting her.
"Taend, I was so worried when I saw bl-blood. Are you okay? Are you hurt? What happened?"
Words were spilling over each other in her hurry, questions quick and many.
Muzzle pressed into the stallion's shoulder, taking a deep breath to try and calm her own racing heart, careful to keep her antlers from knocking into the blacksmith's head. The kirin reached out with her teke, running it over the areas she could reach, relieved that it felt like only a smooth, warm coat was beneath her touch.
