Featuring: Rycaron & Jasmine Setting: Gilded Bridge district markets, roughly 20 years in the past
Bright, if troubled, gaze regarded the organized chaos swirling about him. Equines moved here and there, some trotting briskly on errands for their masters, other at the sedate pace of the meandering shopper. Merchants called out their wares within the Gilded Bridge district, and the emissary kept looking here and there, constantly drawn to something new. There was just so much to look at! He knew he stuck out like a sore thumb, with his bright colors, pearls, and Qotoki sigil embroidered on the blue sash wrapped about his neck. The Chevalier that was his escort didn't really help matters, either. He felt like he was being eyed like a thief, treated like one of the rogue pirates everyone always thought they were. It was irritating the young stallion at the moment, though he knew it was right thing to be happening. With a huff Rycaron moved onward, stopping briefly to glance at one stall, before halting fully, his attention fully engaged. Before him ranged a vast assortment of pretty bridals, delicate and intricate and truly something he didn't think he would mind owning himself... Overall he snubbed his nose at the flamboyant accessories of these hedonistic Aodhians, constantly seeming to be drunk and there examples of public affection (and worse) seemingly everywhere. But one bridle, oh that might make a nice piece later for himself. Something simple, but decent by Talorian standards. Post 1 | WC 233

t was nothing new for the small Jasmine to wander off from her mother's eye, especially seeing as the older woman was so easily distracted. She had been reluctant to tag along, buying fabric was awfully boring for Jasmine and she wanted nothing more than to explore. That she did as soon as her mother looked away for the slightest moment. Skipping off into the bustling street, several things caught her eye. Firstly, there was a man selling brightly coloured fruit from a beaten up cart. She had no money, but she had her charming smile. She bounced up to the stallion, staring up at him with her big, silver eyes. "Excuse me, Sir. Those grapes look very mushy. You'd lose customers trying to sell those!" she announced proudly. He barely noticed her and just as she was about to grab his attention another way, he released a low laugh. "And what do you know about grapes?" he mused, shaking his head slightly as he bagged a few peaches for an actual customer. "A lot, actually. They grow on green vines and the best wine in Hireath is made in Opulence!" she said in a matter-of-fact tone. He eyed her for a moment before tossing her the supposedly mushy clutch of grapes. Barely catching them with her red teke, she gave him a large grin. "Thank you, mister!" And so Jasmine was off again, strolling the streets and crunching away at her free fruit. Fruit was a luxury she rarely got to treat herself to since her parents made little money, as were accessories. The sparkling gems that were stuck on bridles caught her attention as she passed by a display of them. She stood in front of the window, staring intently into it as she finished off the snack. She suddenly felt someone else's presence and she looked up to see who it was. The man had fins on his cheeks and what looked like a bodyguard by his side. "They're pretty, aren't they?" she said quietly, giving him a friendly smile. ISHY of THQ & ADOXOGRAPHY

It was as well he had a Chavalier with him keeping a look out for his person, because Rycaron barely registered the presence of the small body appearing nearby to peer through the window as well. If she'd been a little scoundrel, she'd have been off with his shard purse before he could blink, despite the fact that it was tucked up within his sash to be kept safe.
At the sound of the young voice rising up to his ears, he glanced down, surprised, though a small, friendly smile curved onto his lips. "They are indeed. I was surprised to find so many delicate and pretty things here. It...is not quite what I expected, and in some ways it most certainly is," the young hippocampus mused, tone candid as he spoke to the youth next to him. "I have half a mind to go in and see if anything fits my budget or style, but I am not sure yet," Rycaron added, mostly to himself, but also as though he were seeking an expert opinion from his companion, as he glance down with another smile.
"What is that you are eating, my dear? Is there a fruit vendor nearby?" Tone revealed hope, for food would most definitely suit his current needs sooner than a bridle would, and it would remind him of home as well.

er ears perked when the man replied, meeting her smile with a friendly one of his own. Her eyes went back to the bridles, specifically staring at a sapphire one in the corner. A large sparkling sapphire pendant was the focal point of the accessory and she looked at it with wonder. "Everything in Aodh is gorgeous," she said quietly, sticking her nose up to the glass so that it was squished against it. "There's something for everyone!" she said as she finally turned her head to look up at him again. If he needed assistant choosing something nice for himself, Jasmine would gladly offer her eye for sparkles. "I'd go with something blue if I were you," she commented, motioning towards the sapphire bridle. "I got some grapes from that guy over there!" the small foal announced, pointing her nose in the direction of the fruit cart man. He had all different types of fruit that were in season. Jasmine managed to snag some for free, but she doubted that this man could get away with that. He seemed important, just something about the way he carried himself and the Chevalier alongside him. "I'm Jasmine by the way," she said with another large smile. ISHY of THQ & ADOXOGRAPHY

"There is, indeed," Rycaron murmured in agreement to her statement about there being something for everyone in Aodh. The sheer amount of variety was staggering to him. He had never considered his people to be stinting or barbaric, though they were more reserved in nature, but compared to Aodh...It was almost overwhelming how many options and there were to choose from, and the price difference depending on one's class.
"Would you?" he added, glancing down at his companion, a smile tugging the corner of his lips. "That happens to be one of my favorite colors," the emissary remarked, following her gaze to the sapphire bridle with a gorgeous pendant. Oh, it really was breathtaking, a marvel of craftsmanship. He couldn't go in yet, he'd only just arrived the week before, but perhaps later when he'd saved more or decided that was the one he simply had to have... Longing was in his gaze, but the young stallion shook his head, mentally chiding himself for the moment of avarice and wistfulness. He didn't need such things in his life, he wasn't the Emperor!
"I am Rycaron, it is a pleasure to meet you, dear Jasmine," the emissary said by way of introduction, smiling a little more broadly now, his gaze shifting over the fruit sellers stall. While he was trying hard to resist the allure of the jewels, fruit was most definitely safe to purchase and partake of.
