ALEKSEI New Valore’s central train station on the edge of Sol District was unusually full of people for the hour – the common folk rushing to earn their daily bread were long gone, and instead the crowd standing on the platform was a far more distinguished one. Also unusual, considering this was a train station, were the large buffet tables and caterers, whose sole purpose seemed to be to tide the crowd over while final preparations were being made for the unveiling itself. That, or they were intended to smooth over some ruffled feelings – for certainly the nobility present could have been in a brighter mood for such an event. Artisan cakes and cocktail bites did little to compensate for the humiliation of losing their personal slaves.
Or well, at least Aleksei’s feelings were not so easily placated. While he put on a polite enough smile at the other nobles, he was furious, and he hoped that they were too. It was rather unfortunate, really, as he had truly looked forward to this unveiling. There hadn’t been a new locomotive since Solaris’ days, and even in her last years the final locomotives had been mere laborers, designed to haul heavy goods. There was no spectacle to them. This promised to be different. The timing was just… Most unfortunate.
Aleksei crumbled a napkin in his teke, and threw it aside. A servant hurried to clean it up, but Aleksei’s interest was already on the large garage door that currently hid the locomotive they had all come to see. Not that this was really about the train. He was here to be seen, to make impressions and exchange opinions. The party was just a convenient place for it. He did wish that the invite list had not included certain people, however. Blue eyes darted momentarily to Ember, and then more clearly to Juliet. His eyes grew narrow, and Aleksei felt his annoyance brew. It was not the time or place for turbulent emotions, however, and so he turned away, instead aiming his gaze at Dorjan, willing the older eminent to join him on this side of the large room – if it could still be called a room – they were in.

Eminent of Aodh
......
Beau hadn't been on many trains in his life, but he was no stranger to watching them travel in, out and around of Valore, usually carrying distinguished, or at the very least wealthy, passengers. The prospect of a new locomotive excited the new teenager, for he hadn't been alive for the previous one. And rumors say this particular train would be bringing Aodh into the new century with a bang what with new features, better performance and higher speeds. Though he was excited as he accompanied Juliet and Scarlet to the reveal party, he contained it. Though he would keep his adoptive mother in sight, he knew he had to branch out and be social with the other Eminents now that he wasn't a child. Upon entering the party area, Beau couldn't help but notice the huge garage before him. Wonder sparked in his eyes for a moment before he focused on the party before him. Since the slaves were ripped from their homes and dragged to the Dark District, everyone was more than a little irritated.
Beau on the other hand, was less irritated and more concerned. His tutor was a servile slave and in turn was taken from him. So were the caretakers who protected and kept up both House Thestius and the gardens. Caretakers could be replaced with Commoners more than likely, but a tutor? They must have spent lots of time rubbing shoulders with officials in order to properly advise and teach him. No Commoners were up to par with an experienced Servile Slave. Beau's ears tipped backwards at the thought as he wandered forward to nibble on an appetizer to improve his mood. After finishing his little snack, he cleaned his face and headed back over to Juliet, where he noticed a unicorn Eminent looking their way. The young stallion offered a small, but courteous bow of the head and a polite smile in his direction before returning his gaze to the garage. More and more guests crowded the platform, to the point where Beau couldn't swish his tail without hitting someone. Though the space was tight, he made sure to keep polite and courteous as to make his first impressions as an adult memorable, positive ones.

Thaio walked proudly into the station. Head high and tucked in. His eyes squinted and forward, brows furrowed and serious.
Lilith had mentioned it would be good for him to go. He would know a few others who would be attending along with him. His Uncle Dorjan would be there along with His “Aunt” Cyndane. Juliet, one of the many friend of his mothers and a few familiar faces and names. Though he showed reluctance and poise he was actually quite excited. His opinion on the locomotive was somewhat dampened as he has only been on one once. And although exciting is was not at all up to his standards as a Noble.
There had been the ‘slave siege’ a few days prior and it hadn’t been forgotten. Not by him and not by basically anyone else. It was all that was ever talked about. Although he had not had any personal slaves himself. The villa had quite a few. From maids, cooks, tutors, and nannies. Pit Slaves and Personal. It had been quite barren and the family was distraught and furious over the ordeal. Much like everyone else. They weren’t just slaves, they were “friends”. Horses he had known for years, from birth even. The city was in shambles and chaos. Word of the Gilded Bridge being terrorized and blundered by commoners, merchants and slave traders had reached even the highest of Nobles and Thaio approved. Someone needed to show the Chevaliers what for.
And who was to blame? The King of course. In Thaio’s opinion, Isador could burn at the stake for all he cared. He wasn’t the true king. He wasn’t of royal blood. He tainted the throne the longer his pompous ass sat on it. Just because he had Sola, he thinks he owns the place? How bad Thaio wished Ammy was still alive. This wouldn't have happened if he was still King. The wound was still fresh. Not recent but fresh and Thaio could only bite his lip and hope for a revolution.
He never trusted half those advisors. Not Isador, not … before he could think any more he entered the station floor and his eyes met with the blue hood of Ember. Thaio’s jaw clenched as he gritted his teeth. His nose scrunched up and his ears fell flat on his neck. Disgust lined his lips as he glared at her. Perhaps she had seen him perhaps not. He didn’t care. The colt stepped forward into the room after a few minutes of staring. Walking over to the table covered with lavish snacks and drinks. Many crowded around it but thankfully the colt was small and slender enough to squeeze in somewhere. It wasn’t long before Thaio realized it was mostly adults. He was obviously the youngest. His features were still rather foalish. Long legs, and a slender build. But he took this as a compliment. In his head that meant he was mature enough to brush shoulders with his elder peers. Nothing new there.
His eyes wandered around the room. Seeing who he knew and whose conversation he could listen in on. Cyndane was closest to him. He hooves floated over in her direction. A smirk graced his lips as he bowed his head at anyone who looked his way. The gold chain of his bridle, tickling his cheek.

Alex
Walking leisurely towards the new station Alex stood before the entrance taking notice of the familiar faces around her. Only distinguishing a few faces among the entirety of the gathering she moved through the crowd with ease avoiding conversation for the time being. She only came to distract herself from the recent upset. While intrigued about the new train and all of its glory she focused her attention to all the jumble of voices and clatter of servants serving among the nobility. Nodding and smiling courteously at everyone gathered she spent a few moments eavesdropping on the small talk hoping to hear some gossip but the conversations seemed to revolve around the same topic. Many excited about the new train, that would put the older ones to shame, and others grumbling over the loss of the slaves and the disruption their disappearance has caused. She went about the gathering still enjoying it despite the slight hit or miss atmosphere. She took a quick glance at the garage door pondering what the new train would look like before making her way towards one of the banquet tables. Lifting a small glass of wine and inspecting it for spots, tilting it from one side to the other checking thoroughly. Taking sips she stood off to the side just enjoying the wine, though it was a bit dry, Alex gracefully started moving away from the table her eyes danced across the platform noting which nobles were next to each other. She went to events so frequently and still saw different faces, and as such always took more interest in the ones she'd never seen. Standing off to the side she stood quietly waiting to see who else was joining the event. All the glares and fake smiles made it all the more worthwhile, there is no better drama than among the nobility and what a wonderful game it is. Flicking her ear back for a split second her icy gaze was drawn to a smaller figure, a black unicorn colt with a golden bridle, she was by all means genuinely surprised despite her calm demeanor. Though the more she thought about it the less odd it became, this is a simple unveiling of a grand train, not a council meeting so if anything he was the most fitting to be here. She watched him for a bit then caught eye of Juliet among two other nobles. Adjusting her sliver chained bridle ever so slightly keeping the loose hanging gems aligned perfectly. Finishing up her wine and handing it off to a servant she kept to herself still waiting to see who else would peak her interest.

CLARKE | WAR-FORGED | AMBASSADOR
Maybe I could live without it, maybe I could let it go. Boy you know I got a habit, chasing all the broken roads. Even a foreigner could tell things were out of place at this unveiling.
Clarke sensed the tension in the atmosphere from a mile away, figuratively able to taste the bitter personalities of those with power who were stumbling to regain their facade of prowess without someone beneath them to lean upon.
She assumed the only, truly plausible reason she had been invited to this particular ceremony was out of political politeness, and she, of course, could not afford to refuse such a request; but the thought of trains made her nervous, their presence sitting on the precipice of becoming overwhelming from scent and sound alone. Perhaps being of Oneaian blood made her primitive that way, utilising nothing but the strength of her back and connection to the earth to get by; but this was a new world to be in, and she, would have to make compromises to fit in.
The Ambassador picked her way slowly to one of the tables that lined the station floor, weaving between bodies before nimbly swiping a glass of wine. She had tried her best to look presentable, braiding her mane and tail similar to how Froya would have if she were back home, but she still stuck out like a sore thumb against those with gilded bridles and eccentric outfits. Beyond the open bar, the lavish array of sweets and pastries was an alluring display to sample, but Clarke couldn't shake the feeling that it was wrong, even wasteful to take them. Taking to the streets on her own time had been proof enough of that, with beggars lining the walls; their desperation made clear by the lengths they were willing to go to stoop even for goods several days past their due date.

Scarlet was no stranger to trains. She had been born the year before the first locomotive had been unveiled, and while she couldn't remember a time without them, nor the first few years with them, she could very well remember, growing up, both of her parents' slight distrust in the new science of the time. She had not shared her parents' worries and had long since become comfortable. The sway of a train was as familiar to her now as her own ambling gait. Now, compared to any other option available, the engines were comfortable and quick; an innovative masterpiece that Scarlet could never hope to undermine. However, the news of another locomotive having been constructed? Standing on the platform of the station, wine glass close? It was a feeling that was indescribable. Hell, it even surpassed her excitement at the last unveiling she'd been present at, a few years previous.
Adelina wove herself around Scarlet's legs, her short fur bristling against Scarlet's own. A purr rumbling from her chest. Scarlet could have echoed it, she was so pleased with the activities of the night. It had been a long while since she'd last been at such a party as this one, eager to see the trains unveiled. And she had company with her this time, not a slave, for they had been seized to Scarlet's chagrin, but a lover. Juliet too was at her side, and amongst the rest of the platform strode faces that Scarlet was more than familiar with.
"It's been long since we've been to one of these parties, no?" She commented to Juliet, her eyes scanning the small but extinguished crowd curiously.
"Milling about and showing off before the others." She glanced at her back where fins of light glittered and swayed ambiently.
"But I always do enjoy seeing the trains; the progress we make. If anything it is a distraction from the... escape and subsequent seizure of our property." She said absently, only just masking the venom in her voice. It is for the good of the nation, she repeated silently to herself. Dispelling the thoughts, she turned to eye the huge doors from which the train was sure to make its appearance. When she looked back she watched as another (the Eko Eminent Beau who she remembered from their time in the Santum) approached Juliet and readily pricked her ears towards the conversation.

JULIET
Her mind was still reeling.
Even her, an eminent of high regard with plenty of friends through the high society, even her, one of the sole managers of the docks, was not immune to the city's sudden seizure of her slaves. Nellive, Roulette and Adrian. They had all been forcibly removed from her home by chevaliers. Her tears had not stopped falling. The mare could not protect them... And then there was the unveiling of the new train hanging over her head that she would now have to go to without them. Juliet just could not stop loosing people...
She dressed herself, a feat the mare had gotten used to doing since the sudden disappearance of her slave Bulter and walked herself to the event. Another feat she never expected. After the attack at Cyndane's villa Juliet fretted going anywhere alone. The ribs in her side had only just fully healed (Thanks to Bale of course) and now she was being thrown into another social event. Something was bound to go wrong. It seemed to always go wrong.
----
The mare stood, dressed to the nines, with her nose nearly pressed against Scarlet's wither. Her love was so comforting and so strong. How she was able to hold it together at a time like this was beyond her. Juliet knew, should her dainty hooves stray too far from the dark colored mare, that she might just crash down in sorrow. "It has darling..." She whispered, her voice on the cusp of cracking. A dainty glass of amber liquid was held within her teke. It hoovered close to her lips but never once did she drink from it. "Please do not speak about such things today Scarlet. It... It hurts too much still..." To lost within her own mind, the mare only looked up as Beau approached again. She had taken the child under her care after that unfortunate party. Nuzzling her adopted son's shoulder, the nearly pink mare leaned into him with a hard breath.
"Ah, yes. Scarlet love. This is Beau. His is my adopted son. Soon to be our adopted son..." A soft wink resulted, directed to the dark coated mare. A tender nod was given to Alex and then she smiled at Thaioif he happened to look her way. Juliet cared not to look too far around the room, not wanting to kill what little mood she had managed to scrape together for this. A certain blonde eminent would not be the center of her world today. She had other equines to faun over and show them a better time then he could.

dorjan Crimson teke encompassed a half full wine glass, its contents apathetically being swirled around by the man holding it. Dorjan was dressed to the nines (as was expected), the golden details of his ensemble glinting as he turned his head ever so slightly. Presentation was key in a room full of eminents - he knew that as well as anyone, but an extravagant appearance was the only show he was willing to put on today.
It took immense determination to not let the scowl he so desperately wanted to display slip through the cracks of an otherwise neutral guise. Usually the adviser was far more willing to engage with crowds, to throw around a rakish smile and sly comments...
But not today.
Today he stood by himself, indifferent to the bustle of others as his thoughts consumed him. He cared not for the slaves that had been ripped away from them, or Isador’s very blatant display of political prowess. The games of court did not amuse him today, and he doubted they would for a very long time.
As he glanced over the gathering once more, he caught the gaze of his nephew, who seemed just as lost in thought as he was. Taking the eye contact as an invitation, Dorjan padded slowly towards Aleksei, coming to a stop beside him and following where the boy’s attention rested.
For the first time that morning, Dorjan managed to let a faint smile split across his face.
“What an… intriguing invitation list.” 1 | 250

Alex
Alex counted the number of notable figures just for fun, Jotting down little mental notes as she spotted them, remembering Aleski and Dorjan from the disappointing testimony with the Chevalier. She did not know them well enough to place favorites but their manners were good enough considering they were not annoyed at the testimony and seemed to genuinely want answers. Still, she decided it would be better to avoid the two, Aleski mainly, considering her new relationship ties returning her gaze back to where Juliet stood. She nodded back in the same manner before looking at the older mare who stood beside Juliet, Scarlet, she thought to herself as she made her way back to the banquet table. She remembered her the testimony as well. Though she did notice Scarlet had only spoken once it was clear that she had a refined grace that Alex did respect. Additionally Scarlet was Juliet's wife, not that Alex minded it, it made the relationships all the more interesting. Picking up another glass of wine lifting it up to her nose quietly inhaling the faint bouquet, again dry, then tilted the glass just as before to ensure it was clean. This glass she decided to carry socially rarely drinking from it since she had already finished a glass. Not because she wanted to avoid being drunk, but she did have a noble reputation to uphold and the sun was still up. Though Wine being too weak to have any sort of effect on her would also take quite a few glasses. She stood close to the table, everyone was bunched up into little groups a few stragglers here and there noticing an unbridled horse among them. There was so much shimmer and gold she found it odd they hadn't stood out to her earlier. The lack of jewels and braided hair was a giveaway to a warforged mare. Considering the party in attendance, the vast sea of nobility, it had to be someone of reasonable ranking to place them here. Smiling softly she made her way towards them, the silver bridle jingled softly with each step she made. Watching at how they looked at the various Artisan cakes Alex lifted one up with her teke nonchalantly before facing them. "If you keep staring at them before you know it they'll be gone." Bowing respectfully before returning to her dignified stance.

ALEKSEI Dorjan responded to his silent invitation, joining him on this side of the room. His uncle’s faint smile received a similar in reply from Aleksei. Intriguing indeed. Although he had to admit he was a bit curious about some of those present – the older teenager near Juliet was one he knew to be an orphan, one that had only recently been a small child. Then there was one of Lilith’s many spawn, a step-cousin of his. He was surprised to see only one, but not at all surprised that Lilith herself was not around. Aleksei supposed that Thaio – he thought that was what their name was – was old enough to be here on his own. That, or Lilith just didn’t care and the colt had come all on his own. Both sounded equally plausible.
His eyes traveled briefly to Cyndane, and then back to Ember, whose serene gaze back at him made a strange contrast to how upset or angry everyone else seemed. “Honestly I think good King Isador invited everyone who he thought would show up”, Aleksei noted somewhat dryly. The invitations had been sent so far in advance of the slaves being taken that the King couldn’t have planned for the soured mood. “I doubt he is any happier about the current mood than any of us. This was supposed to be a big day for the Crown”, he added.
Then his polite smile turned slightly more vicious as he departed Dorjan’s company with a meaningful look, and made his way over to where Juliet’s now quite extended family was spending time. “Eminent Scarlet”, he greeted pleasantly, with a genuine smile. Then, with a much colder voice but equally polite expression, he merely gazed at the hippocampus, and acknowledged their presence simply: “Juliet.” His real interest was the tall teenager with massive horns. Not exactly an image of Aodhian beauty, but peering up at them Aleksei could see how someone might find them impressive, even handsome. “Eminent Beau, is it?” Aleksei confirmed, his smile again real and gaze open; even friendly. With a solemn voice he then added: “I know it’s late, but I am truly sorry for your loss.”
Soon after Aleksei spoke, the great doors rolled slowly open – creaking and groaning under their own weight. In a soft puff of smoke and turn of wheels, a beautiful locomotive moved out of the garage, and stopped at the platform before them. With only the locomotive itself, a tender, a single cargo car and then the car they all knew from décor to be a 1st class car, it was clear only the nobles with invitations would be going anywhere with his magnificent creation.
And magnificent it was. The locomotive was large, perhaps larger than any before it, but it did not seem overly heavy. The shapes were elongated and somewhat rounded, speaking of both speed and power. The whole locomotive was dark gold, with burnished bronze and a vibrant blue dotting the design. The entirety of it was, by the skillful combined use of artwork, carvings, reliefs and actual sculpted parts to form the clear shape of an Aodhian wyvern – topped off by the chimney being made to look like a smoke breathing head. “HM Fortune” the side of the locomotive proudly stated. It was indeed quite worthy of that name.
There was silence for a while, and then a conductor stepped out, announcing proudly: “Please step HM Fortune, King Isador’s great contribution to our glorious nation. This maiden trip will take us to the popular wine and agricultural city of Opulence, where we will stay overnight, and return the following morning.” He opened the doors wide, but showed no sign of ushering anyone in, allowing the esteemed guests to enter at their own pace.

cyndane Cyndane well understood that there was a crisis. The Aodhian way of life was a carefully weighted one, crafted by the advisers and the king and the laws and balanced securely on the backbone of the king’s benevolent and traditional gift of the labor force. It was well known that labor slaves belonged to the city (and of course, therefore, to the crown) and the duties they performed were in the service of Eithne’s future.
Of course, now they were all gone.
Isador had taken drastic measures. Privately owned slaves, including her own household, had been herded away and sequestered in the Dark District without warning or a thorough explanation. The Chevaliers were just following orders, she was aware, but the populace would inevitably have questions--not the least of which were if their property would be returned after a time or, especially, if they’d be paid for the loss.
Predictably, the people had rioted. It was a nasty business but even the outwardly composed woman had sympathetic sentiments to the rage they’d demonstrated. As it was, their outrage could come in useful. The news Aginor had brought back from Breim allowed her to play a hand when she’d thought the deck was dealt out. It was also the reason she’d deigned to show up today. One had to keep up appearances.
However, she had to admit, that this lavish display after widescale (possible) theft of their property was not a good look for the King.
She swirled chianti in a glass and smiled gently at Thaio as he headed her way. Lilith’s children were a common sight at her house. (Cyndane’s niece had eventually tried to ban them from swimming in the pools at the Valorian mansion. This edict had been cheerfully ignored by almost all of the children.)
“I can’t promise it’ll get more interesting,” she offered to the young man as a conspiratorial stage whisper. “But at least Opulence will be a change of scenery from Valore.” The last words were said as she stepped forward toward the train car.

CLARKE | WAR-FORGED | AMBASSADOR
Maybe I could live without it, maybe I could let it go. Boy you know I got a habit, chasing all the broken roads. She had been staring for too long.
Clarke swallowed her own misgivings at Aodh’s clear classism gaps once Alex approached, a well-practiced smile breaking across her face in greeting; something to keep the nobility at ease, and to show that she wasn’t simply some illiterate 'savage’ from the north.
Bowing her head and raising her glass, she chuckled lightly at the Eminent’s words. “That would be a shame…”
Eyeing the heavily laden table once more, Clarke grabbed the nearest pastry to placate any misgivings, and to avoid causing potential, future grievances. Food such as this should be savoured, scarce as it was in Onea, but it only soured in her mouth as her thoughts turned dark again.
The train's reveal would cut their conversation short.
She couldn’t deny that the engine was certainly impressive, intricately carved with ornate detail, right down to the very last scale, and the carriage itself was no doubt fitted to cater to a noble’s every whim...
And all she wondered was how many mouths that artistian’s commission could have fed.

Alex
Alex quickly finished the small pastry she had picked up in a delicate manner, making sure she didn't drop any crumbs as the train moves out of the garage in its golden splendor. The details were striking and she admired the craftsmanship. She expected the train the be something new and shiny but this was a pleasant surprise as she stood still watching it move along slowly. Sipping her wine, then patting her lips dry with a clean napkin before handing the half empty glass and neatly folded napkin off a servant. The wyvern was especially a nice touch though the train would have been better off in a museum it looked more like art to her than a train. She could only imagine the maintenance cost it would take to keep the train looking this grand. Alex turned back towards the unknown mare, watching as she too gazed at the train, What would foreigner from a “barbarian” background even say about it? While she was curious what they would say another thought popped into her head. Though the golden cyclical shape was oddly familiar, making her giggle a little, it was beneath her to make crude jokes but once she considered her company she doubted anyone else was more suitable. “ I’m not one to bash why own herds immense glory, but do you think the king might be compensating for something?” she said in a hushed voice as she winked playfully. She didn't bother to wait for the mares reaction and bow once more “I'm Alexandra Rani Nagendra, Though a majority simply call me Alex.” lifting her head he bridle jingled softly before settling. She moved towards the train looking back at the mare, “You’re welcome to join me if you have no others to join, otherwise I'll be boarding.” Alex walked up the 1st cabin stepping onto the train then taking a set.

Eminent of Aodh
......
It was comforting to the young stallion to be close to the mares beside him. Seeing love flourish firsthand was something he had only seen intimately once in his short life, but when it did happen it was special. Especially for someone as close to him as Juliet. And in turn, he would get close to Scarlet too. A soft smile graced his lips as they conversed. Though they were broken by King Soleil and shaken from the seizure of the slaves, they were banding together to get through it. It felt like a family, and despite the situation, his heart was warm. Upon Juliet introducing him formally to Scarlet (they had met before...but not for too long and it was when he was a foal), the Noble bowed his great head graciously, his smooth horns glistening in the sunlight. "It is my pleasure to meet you officially, Lady Scarlet. And in slightly better conditions." he chuckled, alluding to their first meeting in the Sanctum. He stood at full height once more and gazed in the older mare's direction, a cheerful light in his eyes that explained how happy he was that Juliet had a shoulder to lean on. "Lady Juliet seems to glow in your presence. I truly am glad you two are together."
At this point, Beau was paying little attention to the majority of the crowd on the platform but more so to the conversation at hand. He lifted a glass of wine from a platter a passing servant carried and brought it to his lips. Now that he was no longer a child, the liquid not only tasted better to him, but didn't affect him as much as it had before his aging potion. Deep down Beau was slightly sad about not being able to live out his childhood like everyone at this party, but he did what had to be done to keep his House from crumbling. He was the last of the Thestius Noblility after all. Before he once again got lost in thought, a familiar face approached him. Lord Aleksei, a stallion who belonged to one of the oldest Houses in Eithne. They had never met in person, but from studying recent political happenings back home, the Noble was easy recognizable what with his glowing golden coat and horns. Beau watched as the Lord greeted Scarlet warmly and Juliet more than a little less warmly. He flicked his tail, but didn't ask any questions. He could always ask Juliet later. But when the golden Eminent's eyes landed on him, Beau instinctively nodded his head in greeting, once again careful of his great, smooth but sharp horns. Because of the young unicorn's height, the nod barely brought the two eye to eye for a moment. Purple met blue, and Beau felt a warm shiver down his spine. He dismissed it however, and replied with an equally genuine smile, "Correct, Lord Aleksei. It's a pleasure to finally meet you in person." his voice had a youthful ring to it, but was overall deep and smooth...not all that different from his father's. Upon Aleksei's condolences, Beau nodded again. "Thank you very much, Lord Aleksei. One would hope Ignacio is caring for them now." murmured the stallion slightly softer, so Aleksei and possibly the two mares beside him were the only ones who could hear.
However before much more could be said, the garage door concealing the new locomotive began to rise. Beau's soft purple eyes shone with approval and pride as the doors revealed the vehicle in its splendor, complete with high end artwork worthy of the awe it received. Some cheers rang out on the platform as the train moved towards them. Beau remained dignified, and allowed the Ladies to enter the first car before himself after the conductor finished his introduction. He stayed shoulder to shoulder with Aleksei as they boarded and took in the sights of the locomotive. "A great day for the Crown, despite the circumstances." murmured Beau softly as the rest of the company boarded the train. He was excited to see Opulence with his own two eyes. Though his father owned property there, he had never seen the area for himself. Beau was quite excited, but concealed it from the world.

ALEKSEI His attention, too, turned to the train as it pulled out of the garage. What a magnificent thing it was – a piece of artwork worth of any display. Seeing such expensive splendor did taste somewhat sour after the uncompensated repossessing of his many slaves, and the damages done in the riots that Crown act had caused, but Aleksei didn’t let it show on his face. He had every reason to keep himself pleasant and representable through this event, no matter his personal feelings towards it. Besides, Aleksei had the money to fix what had been done, and surely their troops in Serora would return with at least some slaves to add to the diminished workforce.
Blue eyes returning to Beau, he smiled pleasantly as he moved alongside the larger but younger Emin. The nobles entering the 1st class car was an orderly ordeal, all the while some workers loaded cargo items headed to Opulence to the cargo cart, and other workers still loading some of the offerings from the buffet so the nobles would not go hungry on the admittedly fairly long train ride. Aleksei hadn’t been to Opulence in a while, but he seemed to remember that the journey took several hours. “Ah yes, a great day indeed”, he smiles at Beau, and took a good place in the car near a large window. As Dorjan stepped in, Aleksei quickly told him: “I have something I wish to discuss once we arrive, if you’d afford me the time, Adviser?” Aleksei’s expression was pleasant, but there was a certain urgency betrayed in his voice that told Dorjan it wasn’t just some party invitation he wanted to talk about.
Once the conductor had checked everyone was accounted for, the doors were closed, and with a whistle and a puff of smoke, the train pulled itself into motion. The cityscape of New Valore moved by at a decent pace, the train staying at running speed while they were within city limits. People stopped to stare at the marvelous creation as it moved by. What emotion moved their hearts at the sight of such lavishness, Aleksei could but guess.
After a while the city and the surrounding villas and little farms gave way to a more open countryside of pastures and enormous fields. The train picked up speed gently, but soon built up to its maximum. “I was around your age when I became the head of my House. I didn’t take a potion, of course, but that hardly matters. The pressure is the same regardless”, Aleksei told Beau while keeping his eyes on the surrounding countryside. In truth he had been both older and younger than Beau, having been naturally aged, but also just seventeen.

Notes on the journey: The train is heading out from New Valore. The vistas start as basically fields, pastures and farmland until we come to Drakefire Wood, where the train will move a little slower. There the train will slow to a running speed passing by the town of Bloom, but will not stop. After Bloom the forest will continue for a good while. The train is very short; just the locomotive and tender (not available to visit), a cargo car, the 1st class car, and a short car with staff. There are chevaliers aboard in the locomotive, cargo space and end car for safety.

The station was a little more empty than he realized. But then again, the ceiling was high and the walls open. The marble flooring seemed cold and to be never-ending under his obsidian hooves. The panels themselves were so polished you could almost see yourself in them. Thaio bowed his head at Cyndane, a bright smile reaching his face, ear to ear. “Aunty; The Smoldering Sun smiles upon you.” The colt greeted her with the utmost respect. “I trust my bombardment of siblings are still giving you a hard time over that pool of yours?” He tisked. “I may need to convince mother to hire an Architect to craft one for the Villa.” A confident laughing tone wrapped itself around his voice as he constructed each word.
Thaio waved over a bay Unicorn carrying a silver tray. Atop, a collection of freshly poured red and white wines. Thaio reached up. His glittering, golden teke began wrapping around the fragile crystal stem before he saw the bay stallion frowning in the corner of his eye. Concern shaping his face. Thaio’s smile dropped. His head tilted a little to one side, his eyes frowned in offense and his eyebrows furrowed. All the while still taking a glass off the tray. He didn’t say anything, turning back to Cyn while the bay unicorn swiftly walking away. The colt swirled the glasses contents before smelling it. He opened his mouth to talk again but before he could get any words out he was rudely interrupted. The howling screech of the shutter made the colt squint and almost step back. Before the machine rolled forward through a cloud of thick white smoke.
The colts expression grew. His eyes widened at the sight of the glistening mound that lay before him. Sloping and bold shapes combined with a glistening golden coat made for a fabulous site. The hand curvature and sculpting was truly unique, the Artist had outdone themselves. Thaio raised his glass of red to his lips. Taking but a minuscule sip. The colt attempted to hide the fact that he was scrunching up his face. One eye shut momentarily before swallowing the few droplets of wine. Thaio licked his bottom lip and cleared his throat before running his teke through his forelock. Again turning to Cyn with a sheepish smile.
An announcer disturbed the chatter that formed around the nobility. The equine spoke loudly, their ears forward and a calming grin lined their face. The colt cocked an eyebrow at their words but still listening with intent. Perhaps this wasn’t, in fact, a waste of time after all. He attempted another sip out of his glass. Wine staining his teeth as its strong texture covered his pallet. The boy picked up an oat and honey cookie. Softly nibbling on it in an attempt to be rid of the bitter and dry texture. Thaio’s ears perked a little at the mention to Opulence. He had been a few times but his time there was short and only for business. It would be nice to spend a night to get to know the smaller charming city but perhaps he should have packed away a few essentials with him. Too late now he supposed.
Thaio stepped forward with Cyndane. Joining in with the growing crowd of boarding passengers. Though it was a leisurely stroll to pass through the doors. “Opulence is enough excitement for me.” He nodded. “The scenery is thoroughly enjoyable. Besides Mother will be kicking herself when she finds out that we went to Opulence for a night on the expense of the Crown. I would believe it would have been a joyous experience for her.”
The colt settled in. Eventually getting through half his glass. “Why did the glass have to be so big” he had thought. “I understand you have to savor it but this is the utmost dreadful drink I’ve ever tasted.” He hoped no one noticed he was drinking it slower than he should be. Otherwise, it would have been embarrassing. Thaio watched as each face entered the car. Both faces he knew, others he did not. He took extra interest in Aleksei and Beau. Equine-Watching they called it. You could tell who was showing off or if someone had drama with someone else. Eventually, everyone boarded and the car started forward. Startling the colt as he staggered back a little, his eyes growing wide as liquid threatening to jump from his cup. He managed to regain his balance quickly and quietly settled in for a long ride. Thaio placed himself near a window watching out it as the city seemed to disappear and be replaced with lush farmland and open grasslands. He had missed this sort of view. Sandstone walls and marble had become bland and under-contrasted. He needed this more than he realized. He became deep in thought but kept an ear in, in case someone chose to speak with him. Besides, it would be a little while before they arrived at their residence for tonight.

JULIET
Of course Aleksei just couldn't leave her alone. The eminent nearly felt his decision before his hooves brought him close. Juliet was too tired for this nonsense, too tired for this highschool drama. If after all these years he still saw her as competition then so be it. She would take that as the highest compliment one could. Head lifted and tipped to the side with a small narrowing of her eyes as he merely said only her name.
Rude.
But Aleksei had always been extremely rude. At least to her and her family. With her own tail flick the mare barely dipped her head. An eye for an eye. She would only meet what he gave her and nothing more or less. Ears flickered towards the conversation he had with Beau and while Juliet wanted nothing more then to step in his way, flick her tail in his face and continue forward, she couldn't. At least not here. Head lifted high and watched with a quiet awe as the train was brought forward. It was splendid, surely a feat in itself. Juliet slunk back into her old ways and felt deserving of this train and it's ride only to glance to her side and notice none of her slaves present. Mood plummeted. They where her family, as much as they hated her. But they deserved to share this with her. Instead the champagne roan pressed her head into Scarlets side and let out a breathe.
She still felt so lonely...
Moving with the rest of the invited equines, Juliet stepped softly into the grandiose train and looked around. Another quiet awe stole her breath as she quickly moved forward to take a seat at one of the windows. Maybe Alex, another one of her loves, would feel up to keeping her company. She was sure Scarlet would want to speak with the others and Juliet's mood was so up and down that being particularily social proved harder then she imagined. Right now she just wanted a warm body to press into and feel safe against.
Maybe a relaxing night in Opulence was just what she needed...

Beau took his spot next to Aleksei right beside the window and once everyone was on board, the doors sealed and the train began to move. Though it was only running speed through the City, the lateral movement was confusing for his body at first. He spread his legs slightly further apart to keep his balance easier as Aleksei murmured something quick to Dorjan. They must have business to attend to, for Aleksei’s voice, though smooth and warm, held a note of urgency. None of his business, so he said nothing of it and took the time to look out the window once more.
The faces of commoners were full of what could only be awe as the locomotive passed them by. Beau couldn’t help but make eye contact with a few as the car passed by, it wasn’t prolonged but it made the young stallion wonder what their lives were like, what happened in their day to lead them to the tracks to see the train. What they thought about the seizure of the slaves. Soon they were outside the city and the vehicle’s speed increased to maximum...which was the fastest he had ever been in his life. It was thrilling. Beau then turned his attention back to Aleksei and nodded.
“Indeed, it must have been difficult. But you got used to it most gracefully, as I hope to.” murmured the chimera stallion to the golden one. “Though with the potion, I have a lot to catch up on. Thankfully this trip is a vacation from my studies.” he ended with a chuckle. In his peripheral vision he could see the fields passing the windows of the train as they traveled. Splendid the stallion thought to himself. But he felt eyes on him and turned his great head to spot one of Lilith’s many children watching himself and Aleksei. He bowed his head slightly in greeting to the younger unicorn, taking the time to flick in ear in Juliet and Scarlet’s direction to make sure the two were happy and enjoying their ride.

dorjan Dorjan listened in silence as Aleksei spoke, offering the young eminent a nod of agreeance before watching him walk off to mingle with the remaining guests. Everyone gathered here today had plenty reason to be infuriated - perhaps Dorjan would have been too, had he not already been so preoccupied.
The adviser sipped his remaining wine as the train was unveiled - indeed it was stunning, a grand display of impressiveness and originality for the Crown.
Still, Aleksei had been right about the circumstances. It was a shame Isador’s monumental moment would remain overshadowed by the taking of their slaves and the riots in the streets.
He finished his drink and stepped towards the train car, halting as Aleksei addressed him once he stepped inside. Dorjan’s features shifted to curiosity at the urgency in his tone, though he quickly blinked it away and nodded. “Of course.”
The adviser mused for a moment about what the eminent possibly wanted to discuss, but quickly found himself in the presence of a stranger. Perhaps she wasn’t fond of crowds either.
“Ambassador.” His smile was far too polite as he addressed the War-Forged mare.
Or maybe she just didn’t like them.
“Adviser Dorjan. I don’t believe we’ve been properly introduced to one another yet.” 2 | 210

cyndane Cyndane nodded in answer to Thaio's comment. While she doubted that Lilith hadn't been extended an invitation of some kind, she also knew her friend was relentless in pursuit of things she thought where slights against her. If Cyndane's own house had been raided for slaves then Lilith's certainly had been as well. It was a good chance that the spotted eminent was taking the new edict as tantamount to theft and was trying to find someone unfortunate enough to listen to her wrath. The Adviser could hardly blame her.
She settled in, unwilling to muster up the unique brand of petty political smalltalk that got bandied whenever she and her...coworkers saw each other in a social setting. Her mask may have been slipping slightly but the recent blessing of her crown of antlers and the borderline miraculous fins that accompanied them would allow her a couple less scintillating public appearances. She'd finished her first glass and an attendant faithfully poured her another glass of the vintage.
She glanced at Aleksei and thought she may have caught her former mentee's eye before turning to look at the countryside. The fields, full of growing Aodhian crops, spread below the train's route like a proverbial patchwork quilt. The birds wheeled in the sky and seemed to--her thought faltered as she eyed one of the shapes in the sky. It was a bird, it had to be...but far, far bigger than any she had ever seen before. Far too big, she realized with shock as Cyndane saw the dark silhouette straight on now. It was speeding for them.
"Conductor!" She didn't call. She commanded.

ALEKSEI Aleksei glanced in the direction of one of Lilith’s many offspring again, noticing that they were being watched back. He furrowed his brow slightly, but nodded in acknowledgement. He’d have to learn to be more careful, more aware of being watched.
He returned his attention to Beau, and the notion of studies made him smirk. Aleksei remembered well the hours poured over various tomes of history, religion and politics under the instruction and keen eye of private tutors, as well as the many other lessons that had made up a large part of his childhood. To skip all that did indeed create an issue, a crater of knowledge needing urgent filling. Years lost that could have been spent learning. But the world they lived in now had become unpredictable, and he didn’t really question the idea of becoming one of able body and mind, rather than being a small child reliant on servants. Right now, that would have been especially unfortunate. “I don’t know how much grace had to do with it”, he smiled: “I had good friends to help me. You’ll catch up in time. There is much to be said for learning on the job when it comes to these matters.”
His thoughts momentarily returned home, to his children and wives. To Ramiro, who was currently in the Dark District. Aleksei’s eyes went momentarily to their surroundings as they broke through the last of the woods. He noticed that they did not pick up speed. Peculiar – surely here in the open meadows they could go faster again?
Then, Cyndane’s voice. A command. Aleksei turned his eyes towards her, curious, but not concerned. Not until the conductor looked out, and silently left to alert the chevaliers.
“What is it?” he asked Cyndane, unable to see what she saw from his own window, facing the other direction.

HER It was Cyndane who saw it first – the dark shape in the sky that drew closer and larger. The conductor alerted the chevaliers, just in case. Other nobles peered at the sky, one by one picking up the shape that approached them. Not sure whether to be concerned or not, you wait, alert, perhaps even worried.
She had been hunting, further off than she should have. She lifted her head from her newest prey to see a glint of gold against the green of the fields. There is a strange sensation, foreign yet so familiar.
Intrigued, she took wing. The golden gleam moved quickly, but so did she. Her wings large enough to whip up fierce winds, wildlife hid from her mere shadow. Silence fell at her approach.
The train slowed further to slip onto a turn rail in order to continue its journey towards Opulence, rather than Ashlar. Soon after, she is above you, her shadow enormous and unmissable.
She is fire, and she breathes deep, letting out scalding flames that set alight the underbrush just next to your train. The heat of it can be felt in the carriage.
Your minds go to Sola, but the King’s companion is dwarfed by her. Jet black, in direct sunlight she gleams with gold and bronze. She is as magnificent as she is terrifying, and she brings your train under siege.
WELCOME TO AODH 602: A PEACEFUL VOYAGE The wyvern is a crowd controlled NPC and seems intent on ruining your trip. As a wyvern, she is immune to fire, heat and related magics. She is not impervious to damage from weapons, but her scales are tough.
The wyvern will not derail the train (because this would kill us all) and seems unwilling to breathe fire directly into the carriage, but more than willing to set the surroundings on fire.
The wyvern can be harmed if you find a way to do so, but not killed. Your hope for survival is fending her off from tearing up the carriage and getting at you for long enough to make it to Opulance – a city armed with heavy duty ballistae sure to deter even a wyvern.
(The train is still moving - not anywhere near max speed, but quite fast regardless. Unbeknownst to you there is slight trouble in the engine room. It's nothing serious but it's the reason you aren't going as fast as expected)

Once they boarded the train, more stunning than any of the makes before it in Scarlet's opinion, Scarlet drifted from Juliet's side, eager to explore the carriage somewhat and then to socialize with the others without putting undue stress on Juliet's shoulders. Aleksei, who despite being at odds with some of Scarlet's company, was someone she'd look forward to talking more too, but they were already engaged in conversation. In fact, many were.
So Scarlet took in the beauty of the train. A small comfort to her, a glimmer of wonder at how far they had come from the first model ever built by the Aodhian engineers. It was not hard to miss the shift in moods though, nor the issue beneath her hooves. Adelina growled lightly from between her legs, prompting Scarlet's attention, thoughtlessly, she nudged the puma to curl up on one of the train seats. Cyndane's warning cut through the chatter on the train car, drawing Scarlet's attention to her and away from what she'd already noticed to be off. Within minutes she, as is everyone else, is aware of their visitor; though not entirely pleased.
Despite this, she ignores it. She's dealt enough with dragons; the one that nearly killed them in the Sanctum was more than enough for a lifetime. "The train is moving too slowly." She finally said aloud, focusing on the movement beneath her hooves again. The heat of the fire draws her attention again, and yet, just as quickly she's ignoring it again. "There must be an issue in the engine room?" She said more loudly; recalling what she already knew of trains she didn't know what she could do about it. Perhaps this was a thought to stave for the moment, and the dragon was the bigger problem.
"Perhaps," She stopped, glancing upwards out of the window before stepping away and back into safety fully, "there is a way I can distract it? An illusion perhaps?" She sized up the huge dragon again. "We've all seen the King's companion before. I could attempt to replicate it." She suggested. "Or even change something about the train? Perhaps, make this carriage seem to disappear or derail?"

CLARKE | WAR-FORGED | AMBASSADOR
Maybe I could live without it, maybe I could let it go. Boy you know I got a habit, chasing all the broken roads.
Alex's comment caught her off guard, and she couldn't help but laugh; the sound loud and jovial. Her time in Breim had been short - and deeply unsettling - but it had instilled a sense of conservativeness within her that she had never felt the need to uphold in Onea.
She had forgotten, that here, of all places, the freedom of sexuality was about as far from a taboo subject as you could get. So, for a brief moment, she forgot about her internal conflict regarding Eithne's inherent classism, and this time her smile was genuine, wrinkling the corners of her eyes.
"A pleasure, I'm Clarke..." She paused for a moment, as if for effect, dipping her head in a slight bow. The Forged had never really been interested in titles. "Just Clarke."
Setting her glass down on the table, she followed suit after the copper mare, stepping cautiously over the gap and pressing close to the nearest window, leaning against the side of the car to steady herself just as the train took off.
A masked figure was the next to approach her, gilded in some of the finest accents she could never hope to afford.
"Adviser..." She bowed yet again, feeling slightly foolish at the formalities expected of her. "Clarke, it's an honour."
Her attention would be ripped away at Cyndane's command, as the shadow of a beast she had only heard about in legends swept over their carriage and let loose a jet of flames from her massive jaws.
Panic clutched at Clarke's chest, the cabin seeming to close in and grow smaller the longer she stood there. She looked towards the doors for an exit, watching shrubbery blur past them on one side, and burn steadily on the other.

Alex
“Clarke, an interesting name” she smiled softly sitting down “Though I doubt you're just Clark.” The inside of the train was just as stunning as the outside, the little details made it all fit together eloquently. Alex suddenly looked out the window at Cydaine exclaim. Staring excitedly at the wyvern outside, She had a fondness of snakes, but one could deny the beauty in a creature so magnificent. The gold and bronze scales clash with beautiful contrast against the sky. The flames that burned foliage next to the train caught her off guard and she stumbled back slightly just enough to not bump anyone. Here she thought she was simply on a boring train ride, Aodh’s new lavish train attracted a wyvern lightweight and quick despite its size. Turning her head away from the window Alex glanced at the other nobles, Some scared while other collected, Scarlet’s ideas caught her attention the various solutions all decent and harmless. Sitting back down on the plush seat she pondered about the pros and cons. The idea of creating an illusion definitely seemed interesting but pointless. If the wyvern fever catches up to the illusion claws, fangs, and fire won't truly affect it and give it away, it would be more likely to irritate the creature once it realizes it’s mistake. The train being invisible would be a better solution assuming she could keep it up long enough and the wyvern simply goes away instead of scorching the tracks/train to find it? How smart are wyverns exactly? She wasn't about to bounce around with plans to find out how much patience and control the wyvern had. Looking towards Scarlet, Alex spoke loud enough to be heard in a polite tone. “All of that sounds like plausible ways to distract it but if we have no way to get rid of the creature with or without harming it distractions won't do much.” Looking back out the window before peering back to the group Alex watched the wyvern’s movements. “Also even if the distraction did last long enough to get to the next stop, I don't think it’s all too wise to be near a wine foundry with a fiery wyvern, We need something to stop it from flying, ground it will give us time to at least call reinforcements.

Beau nodded in aknowledgment to his peer’s words. Indeed, one can’t get too far alone in this world even as an equine of Nobility. Even the richest, smartest and most powerful must rely on others...a thought that made his heart sink a bit. He had supportive friends and adopted family. But how will their country survive without their servile and pit slaves? Or even labor slaves if there was another mass breakout? Their existence was so engrained in Aodhiam culture it would take a lifetime or more to get used to. But he snorted softly, expelling these trying thoughts from his mind. He was to relax and enjoy himself on this getaway, he would return to the trials of everyday life soon enough.
Suddenly, not much long after Cyndane alerted the Conductor, he saw her. A large dark shape further off at first, but quickly becoming a looming force over the train. Her fiery breath near the car made Beau’s eyes water from the sudden heat. Chevaliers were alerted and ready to protect the train with weapons. His ears flicked in the other direction to hear what the other Nobles were saying.
“Lady Scarlet has dealt with a dragon before, I trust her idea. This wyvern is so large that the best we can do is try and distract it long enough to get to Opulance. The Chevaliers have weapons they could use if the dragon gets too violent with the car.” He called over the noise of the dragon to the other Nobles. He stuck close to Aleksei, Scarlet and Juliet to make sure they all were ok. However he couldn’t keep his eyes from the beast for too long. She was terrifying for sure...but one of the most beautiful creatures he had ever seen.

ALEKSEI At the calls of the wyvern sighting from the Chevaliers, he too joined the others at the window. Seeing her quickly approach them filled Aleksei with dread that only grew when she was on top of them, her shadow blocking sunlight from reaching the carriage. Fire blazed to one side, and the sound of her wings was deafening so close to the beast. She was beautiful, yes, but Aleksei’s heart did not soar at the sight of her. This was no friend of theirs.
The conductor shouted to Scarlet over the noise – something about the engine – and went back into the cargo cabin, presumably to try and have a word with those in the engine room. The chevaliers were readying their weapons, sadly mostly ones better suited for slashing up Vindicators up close than fighting a wyvern of any caliber.
Scarlet’s suggestion offered some reassurance of survival. They still had their wits, and their blessings. They could make it. Opulance was not that far.
His eyes went sharply to Alex, who spoke next. “And how do you suppose to ground a wyvern, something the very city of Valore failed to do when Sola burned it?” he shouted above the noise, his fear and a strange sense of loneliness without his companions giving way to a much less polite form of speech. Faiza and Ramiro, had they been here, would surely have brought the wyvern to heel.
Aleksei’s mouth became a thin line. They would have to save themselves.
“Do it, Scarlet! Even a short distraction is better than nothing!” he told her.
Above them the wyvern’s talons scratched the roof of the train. The metal held but pushed visibly inward. They could not afford to wait. It was only a matter of time before she’d find some seam to rip the car open like a stranded tortoise. The chevaliers seemed to have the same idea. One of them pulled open the heavy doors and settled to aim a shot with his bow.
The shot went wide, and her talon clad leg came to view. A single move raked open the chevalier, his weapon falling by the fiery wayside. The death was instantaneous – he did not even have time to scream. Her talons grabbed onto the large wooden door, and pulled it off with ease, bending the metal frame of the car before the bolts gave in. The sound of wind and the smell of blood was overwhelming.
Aleksei uttered a quick, mental prayer to Kaia, and reached out with his own blessing – as good as Scarlet’s plan was, they needed more than a single illusion. A soft, black aura vibrated from him, grabbing a hold of the fresh corpse. He rose, head strangely lolling to the side. Aleksei urged the corpse, and it threw itself of the train – but not having the limitations of a mortal, after landing as a shambled mess of cracked and twisted parts, it took off at a run, first aside the train, and then veering off to the side. The wyvern, too, veered off, even if just for a moment, to snatch her prize. Her talons grasped the corpse with ease.

TL; DR Aleksei is spooked Aleksei supports Scarlet's idea An NPC chevalier opens the door to get a shot in. They fail, get killed and door is ripped off. Aleksei brings them back to use as a (very) temporary distraction.

JULIET
The world was changing. Her life was changing.
As the train speed along, she stared out of the window, barely making eye contact and conversation with anyone. A dark cloud was invisibly hanging over the mares head. Only when the train seemed to be shrouded in darkness did the blonde curls tousled as her head lifted. Heat seemed to ooze all around her, draining her senses and sanity completely. The heat seemed to come from all directions and pools strongly in her ribs as flash backs of the King gripped her.
Tears suddenly sprouted from her eyes as she shrieked and sprang up from the chair, backing away from the window. "Help!! Help!" It was all she could beg for, the visions and fear over coming her. Roulette, Nellieve, they were not here to protect her! Rearing, Juliet felt jewelry cascade from her form, clanging to the floor and only adding to her madness. Her hooves scrapped against the polished pristine floor as back legs kicked out from the golden metal toppling over her back end. Even the silken transparent cloth on her hide felt too constricting, too dangerous. It was touching her!
Plunging forward, the frantic mare surged from the cabin and into the cargo car, lithe form sending luggage and boxes up around her in almost a confetti like display. Chest heaved, eyes wild and looking for anything to protect herself and those she loved. Maybe even a way to escape.

THE CARGO CAR After a frantic entry into the cargo car, and toppling over several things, you take a moment to actually look around for anything that might be of value in your situation.
There aren’t any lights in the cargo hold, so it’s rather hard to see what’s in there – they don’t put windows in these cars for some reason. From the light shining from the 1st class car, you can make out several crates and bound packaged goods. You quickly rule out a couple big rolls as paintings, and decide to leave those be – and that weirdly shaped thing is probably a garden statue destined to be put in some fancy garden somewhere. You suppose someone strong could haul that off the train and maybe hit the wyvern with it, but it's not a very elegant solution. You do realize that tampering with someone else’s goods is not exactly legal, but the situation seems to merit such an action. Besides, being an eminent, surely you can reimburse the owner if needed. You’re pretty sure there’s more to the cargo hold than meets the eye, but it’s so damned dark! You decide to make use of what you can see for the moment, and a couple things do look promising: A big, rectangular crate that spells “CH—CAPT—“ on top of it. It’s nailed closed, so it’ll take a while to bust unless you have serious muscle strength. A box that was clearly not properly sealed, and you can see a glint of metal from within.
One opening per message. More than one person can investigate.
