Rain was never an exactly welcome feeling.
Granted, ever since battling in a torrential downpour, this amount of rain was tolerable. If there was one thing she could say she didn't miss about the talori, was it's absolutely horrendous rainstorms. Of course, with rain the already dimming light situation was made worse, but sometimes you had to take what you can get.
Teke wiping away some of the rain that had begun to drip off of the edges of her helm, she glanced back at the group she had been tasked to lead. Addeva, Alyshia, and Amber were the only ones she had direct experience with. Those three were ones she'd either practically grown up with, or had been on enough missions with to know their style. Delta and Greer were two valkyries she hadn't much experience with, but they were shield-sisters nonetheless and so she trusted them. Then there was the matter of the antlered stallion in the group. Jushiro, if she recalled, was vouched for by Addy, Aly, and Delta. They'd seen him before, he was friendly. If they trusted him, she saw no reason to not let him come along, they could use the extra muscle if shit came down. Everyone was also well equipped, or at the very least, had a dagger with them. She trusted everyone to be able to hold their own if things went south.
Looking down at the party's hooves she saw her friends two snow leopards, Poofkin and Conrad. Those two were always useful, both as companions and additional eyes. Especially once the light went. Kathra could just change her eyes to work in the dim light, as far as she knew, the others weren't so lucky.
She snapped her head back to ahead, where she was leading them deeper into the forest, on her cousin's instruction. She enjoyed being back, the forests of onea feeling much more like a second home to her than the humid jungles of aquore. Finally, her thick winter coat would actually be useful.
She tightened the strap holding her axe to the rest of her armor. "Keep your eyes and ears sharp, in the fading light things will be harder to see, and the rain isn't doing our hearing any favors. I don't want to run into cultists or flanks just because we couldn't see where we were going." She yelled back to the group, her cloven hooves emphasizing her point on the rain by making a splash in a puddle under-hoof.
Hopefully it would stop before they needed to find somewhere to sleep for the night. Sleeping in the wet is never fun.

Spring rains were one of Delta's favorite things. Water didn't bother her at all. If it did, she wouldn't be much of a Hippocampus and her father might as well just disown her. The rain made her feel comfortable and gave her one hell of a false sense of security. But that is exactly why she wore her armor today. Not all of it, mind you. Just the back piece, chainmail, breast plate and helmet. Should even more water get involved, the more bulky pieces of her armor would weigh her down if she had to swim.
Jeremy, however, couldn't be any more miserable. The small Pallid Bat had thrown a fit when Delta had tried to leave him at the Fortress where it was warm and dry. He had bared his tiny teeth at her and had squeaked like his life depended on it. Now he was clinging to the top of the dappled mare's breast plate in an attempt to stay dry. His fuzzy lilac scarf was soaked and he looked like the most pitiful thing you could ever see.
That didn't stop him from listening though. Even though the rain wasn't letting up in the slightest, it didn't interfere with his amazing hearing. He could hear the smallest sounds, ones so small the snow leopards would struggle to catch. After all, nature had to compensate for his slightly poor daysight somehow. Nighttime was when the small bad thrived.
The silvery mare pricked her ears at Kathra's words. You didn't need to tell her to be more careful twice. Not after what happened in that blizzard. She now had a grudge on any and all Pit Traps. She glanced down at the small fuzzy potato clinging to her chest and noticed that he was shivering a little. Worrying for his health, she glanced back at the only reliable source of heat and gave him a tender smile. Slowing down so she could walk with him, Delta nudged Jushiro's shoulder lightly with her own, “How you liking the rain, Hot Stuff?” she asked, guessing that, being a Kirin, he probably wasn't all that fond of it.
Jeremy interrupted the two with a single squeak for a split second when a particular drop of water fell from Delta's mane and onto his head, “Ah, hold that thought, Hot Stuff. Do you think you could take Jeremy for a bit? Poor baby's getting a tad chilly and you are a lot hotter than me.” she asked, giving him a suggestive wink at that last bit.

║⟪⟡ S K Ö L L ⟡⟫║ "Can I tell you that in my eyes not even God would be good enough to command you?"
Rain. He decided he did not like the rain. It was cold, wet, and as the light was fading, it would grow colder still. Lips curled into a snarl, Sköll slunk among the trees, a medium sized light orb floating nearby his head. Something new had popped up in the forest, in HIS forest. He stalked the trees that bordered the road on which travelers passed, it was his domain, and so, he had to investigate any changes that arose in his home. Growling to himself, Sköll reached up with his teke, pulling the half wet bear pelt higher up his neck. The pelt was not yet entirely soaked, sparing most of his mane and backside from the dampness that threatened to pour through. If it rained any harder, however, it would be a very different story. Ugh. At least the trees offered him some cover as well, saving him from the front of the rain.
Sighing, Sköll slunk forward, the only signs of his existence the floating light and his bright, pale colored legs and tail poking out from underneath the dark pelt. Shifting his spear, Lightpiercer, on his back, Sköll's sharp blue eyes scanned the trees for any other beings, potentially ones he could 'borrow' from. A part of him recoiled at the thought of him turning his existence into one that subsisted on simply stealing from others, but then another part told him that it was his right to do so, especially if it was 'borrowing' from anyone not a Kirin, or rarely a unicorn.
Ears flicking, Sköll's gaze moved away from a particular spot in the trees, then quickly back when he saw moving figures in the distance. Ah, now there was someone. Quickly putting out the light floating nearby his head, he began to move closer, carefully picking his way through the trees to remain as quiet as he could be. The rain helped mask his approach as well. He wanted to see what he was dealing with before he acted. There was no sense in taking on something he could not certainly win. Hiding within the forest, using the pelt to cover his gleaming bright scales and pelt (An utter pity that he was forced to cover them so because of the rain), Sköll looked over the small party. Warriors, judging by their armor and helmets... Hmph... Were he not put in such a sour mood by the rain, and half frozen with the chill it brought, he could take them on! But now, attacking was out of the question, due to the circumstances.
Continuing to watch, Sköll's ears pricked at the sight of familiar scales and horns. Kirin. There was a Kirin amongst them. Remaining quiet for a few more moments, simply staring and watching, Sköll weighed the options he held at the current moment. He could go and approach, or he could go to his own devices, return to the task at hand of investigating this new, dense forest that had appeared... Drawing in a deep breath, he lifted his head, forcing his ears forward. Perhaps he could use them to his advantage... Wolves hunted in packs, perhaps he could... Tame these wolves and use them as his own attack dogs... Smiling to himself, Sköll brought the light orb back into existence, letting it float nearby his head once more, before striding forward, his head high and proud. Even with the weather, he would not dare to make a bad first impression. "What is a band of well armored, decent looking folk doing in a place like this?" He called out over the rain, putting on a hopeful, somewhat eager smile.

This season had been the kindest, by far, to Alyshia and her family.
No more cultist traps, for one thing.
No Bloody Flank raids, either.
Kathra and Hjordis had finally returned, and the whispers Alyshia had read in the stars haunted her no longer.
Addeva had received yet another blessing from Kaia.
Her father’s place in the Stone Circle remained steadfast and strong.
Adair and their close family friend were finally wed during the Flower Festival.
For the first time in months, she, Addy, and Kathra were on a patrol together, again.
By all means… Alyshia should be happy.
And the mare would insist that she was. She was grateful to have her friends back safe and sound after their perilous trials in Aquore. She was ecstatic for her little sister, who had won such affection and favor from the goddess who nurtured their lands. She was proud of her father’s success, overjoyed for her older brother’s marriage, humored by Delta and Jushiro’s growing bond. She was happy for them all.
…She didn’t need to be ‘happy’ for herself.
Her own trials were irrelevant in this age of Kaia’s benevolence. The struggles she faced in secret could remain as such, indefinitely. Alyshia couldn’t deny that demons had festered in the peace and quiet that had followed such a godawful winter, but she saw no way to help them. Frankly, she didn’t like thinking about them at all. And missions like these really helped take her mind off of things, at least for a while.
She had resolved to throw herself fully into this task. The Valkyries—and the kirin who accompanied them—were no strangers to forested terrain, strange as these woodlands may be with the rumors that surrounded them. For all Aly knew, for once… the peace might prevail, and there would be no bad news to bring to their warlord.
Perhaps—
"What is a band of well armored, decent looking folk doing in a place like this?"
Alyshia turned her head, slowly, to face the newcomer. Her ears flattened. Another kirin…
… but something about him threw her off. From the way he’d spoken, it was like he didn’t know what they were. Many stallions still held issue with Hira’s all-mare force, but they at least recognized the Valkyries when they saw them. Much like the raiders, they were out patrolling forests all the damn time. This one should be no different. The hell was he, then? Vagabond? Traveler? And why was he acting so friendly? That strut of his hinted at an ego she had no patience for, so the prospect of idle chatting with this guy was a rather unappealing one. Why did this toothy fool care that they were here, anyway?
“Making the rounds, as usual,” she responded softly and curtly, ears lying flat against her skull. It took her a moment to realize—with a wince—that she’d spoken out of turn. She wasn’t the one leading the patrol, today. A single ear flicked apologetically in Kathra’s direction as she glanced at her friend.

Jushiro was glad to be out and about again, especially with this extraordinary group of mares. Hira, the war forged leader had been kind enough to let Jushiro venture back out again. He thought apart of it was how well he dealt with the women last time, and that she was afraid that the Raiders would influence him. Feeling a rain drop land on his ear he quickly snapped out of trance he had fallen into while thinking. Out in these darkinging woods Jushiro felt at ease for some reason he couldn't place. The most annoying part was this damn rain. He should had invested in a rain cloak of some sort.
His lizard like eyes were on the lead mare as she spoke, Kathara. He didn't know much about her, but she seemed to be the no-nonsense sort. He was familiar with Aly, Amber, and ofcourse Delta. Addeva was new to him, and he had briefly met Greer before.
As Delta spoke he looked at her, smirking a bit. "It's annoying." He admit and shrugged as he walked. As Delta passed her little bat to him Jushiro said "Sure, its not a problem and tucked the little guy on his withers underneath the black bear skin where his rain and skin ad not met.
Hearing a voice that seemed to tug at his mind, Jushiros eyes snapped up and to.. another kirin. "Gods, another kirin." He breathed before taking a step foreword though the squadron had stopped. "Comrade what are you doing out here?" He asked, ignoring his question and asking one of his own.

FINALLY! A mission the tiny valkyrie was happy to take! She trotted alongside her sisters in arms confidently with a pep in her step. Addeva felt as fearless as ever with the gift of earth on her side and ever since the return of Kathra, she was as happy as ever.
Of course it was great to be out on a mission with the other valkyries, though she didn't expect Jushiro to tag along. The kirin fascinated her, after all the only other kirin she met was Grigori and he's just a tiny baby. Addy had so many questions for him! But she figured it would be impolite to ask things like "WHERE DID YOU COME FROM" and "CAN I PLEASE TOUCH YOUR ANTLERS"
...and with Delta at his hip saying gross sappy things, maybe she'll ask later.
Addeva shook her wet mane, her large ears flopping around as she did. The rain wasn't so bad, it honestly didn't phase her. The forest was strange and she made sure to keep alert, glancing at Casper to occasionally see how he was holding up. The snow leopard wasn't thrilled to be there, but it was clear he appreciated having Poofkin's companionship.
The zonkey nodded with Kathra's instruction, the light will be completely gone soon enough.
Then, movement. Addeva snapped her head towards the direction of the noise, teke feeling her dagger at her side, when the stranger emerged. Her eyes widened a bit at the sight of yet another kirin. He sounded somewhat friendly, though she noted his sharp, dagger-like teeth and the odd way he held himself. She snorted after Aly's response, sensing her uneasiness and not letting her guard down one bit despite Jushiro's curiosity.
Kathra would hopefully turn this strange kirin away. Word count: 294| Post #1

Of course Kaia wouldn't be blessing them with a quiet night tonight.
The sudden existence of a secondary source of light was the valkyrie's first clue they weren't alone, the sudden movement of brush before a very pale kirin strode out was a very latent second one.
The way the kirin phrased his words made it painfully clear he must be relatively fresh to this world, or lived under a rock. Every forged member knew that when they saw a band of well armored mares, they were looking at Hira's valkyries. He seemed friendly enough, but out here, with a retinue of sheild-sisters to lead, Kathra wasn't about to let anyone get her with her guard down.
She wasn't the first to respond to the Kirin's queries, Aly and Jushiro beat her to the punch. Taking a moment, she spared each of them a glance. She caught Aly's wince, and made sure that her expression softened just enough, for just a moment, to let her friend know she didn't take her speaking out of turn to harshly. However, her glance at Jushiro was followed by a quick flick of the tail, a signal to not move any closer without her say-so. She returned her attention to the pale coated stranger.
"You must be new here, any forged worth their salt would recognize a band of Valkyries when they see one." Her expression was neutral, no emotion present except for the stern look in her purple eyes. She didn't see reason to explain the rest of their actions, Aly had basically covered that already. And with enough discretion to not give away anything, good on her.
She considered, for a brief moment, adding on her own question onto the one that Jushiro had already posed. However she thought better of it, simply because she'd heard rumors that most kirins didn't enjoy interacting with other equine who didn't share their scales or antlers. Jushiro asking what he was doing there would probably be more fruitful. She'd continue a line of questioning after the stranger had responded to this one.
Now all she had to hope was that the other valkyries would stay quiet and not give anything else about their job away.
For all they knew, this stranger might not be alone.

Greer [ post # 1 || word count: 289 ] |
The rain was endless it seemed, soaking everything. The reindeer pelt on her hide did its best to keep her dry but her shoulders and neck were soaked, and her skin twitched. Greer looked down at the muddy path that threatened to suck the shoes right off of her hooves, so she treaded carefully. Her bad leg was already exhausted from trudging through the thick mud and forest paths but she didn’t let it show. She hadn't seen the bloody flank in some time but what she had seen would never leave her mind or her body. The bolt that had poisoned the muscle in her front right leg would never be taken back and the bodys half sunken into the ground at the small water side village poisoned her thoughts.
She kept silent as the party around her quietly chattered and instead focused on her snow leapord, who stayed close and vigilant, scanning the trees for any sign of movement. Vigilant was exactly what they had to be in a time like this, where anything could happen. Nowhere was safe. Looking at those around her, she reminded herself she should probably get some armor of her own.
Greer was taken away from her thoughts when she spotted a stranger approaching. His voice was unfamiliar and she was sure she had never seen him before. Pulling her sword just slightly out of its holster, threatening him with this slight action but making no sound, she waited for Kathra to make the first words though it seemed the mare- she thought her name was Alyshia, had beaten her to it. Now that she thought about it, she felt foolish. Alyshia had been there with her that day at the village.

║⟪⟡ S K Ö L L ⟡⟫║ "Can I tell you that in my eyes not even God would be good enough to command you?"
“Making the rounds, as usual,”
Simply raising a brow, smile still adorning his face, Sköll looked to the one who first spoke. Making the rounds... Interesting. Indicated some sort of guard force, perhaps military? Interesting. Of course, the armor and weapons spoke of something to that effect. The other Kirin though, were they even possibly part of this... Military force? Made of women, judging from their appearances and voices. Why would one of his scaled brethren even think of associating with anything less than a Kirin, or even a unicorn, if their standards were low enough! His ears twitched, frosty gaze flicking to the kirin who stepped forward.
"Comrade what are you doing out here?"
"Heard rumors of some sort of... New forest in the area. I decided it was worth my time to look into, on the off chance it could be a threat." He replied calmly, more interested in the other Kirin than anyone else. He was worth his time. The unicorn, perhaps they could have his attention second, but anyone else was not worth his time. Gaze moving between the Kirin and the other equines, Sköll carefully evaluated their expressions, and physical stances to gauge their reactions.
The first who had spoken had her ears back, had winced after she spoke, a glance to the unicorn. Was the unicorn a superior of sorts? Smart move, unicorns were obviously better than any other species, Kirins were above them still, but a unicorn was the second best.
He thought he saw a tinge of a teke glow at a second's side. A weapon, most likely. Ah, why did they suspect him so, he had done nothing but show grace and nobility, approach with a smile on his face and kindness in his voice! That one had their guard up, he could see that much.
The movement of a sword didn't go unnoticed by him, and his gaze sharply snapped to the sword that moved in the holster, his pupils expanding and then contracting sharply into sharp lines. A threat. How rude! He simply widened his smile, showing off his sharp teeth, meeting the gaze of the sword's owner in his own silent threat.
The unicorn was next, and he studied her, as she would be the most useful one to him. The movements she made were perhaps orders. So she was the leader then. Her expression was neutral, he could not read anything off of her... Yet... Still, what she said was interesting. Band of Valkyries? It sounded official...So they were military. He had to hold back a bark of laughter. He hadn't expected a race of people so... Brutish and uneducated to have what seemed to be a proper military!
"Oh, is it that noticeable? My apologies, I haven't been in Onea very long. I've recently come to the region to find a place to call home, hence my reason for looking into the forest on the off chance it's a threat, or perhaps a place where I could live." Sköll calmly replied, brushing his hair back. "Granted, being so new to the area, I must admit I'm... A tad lost. I thought I knew the way, but with the light fading, it's been increasingly difficult to find my way."

The silvery dappled mare couldn't help but giggle and smile at Jushiro's response to her question about the rain. She was even more grateful that he was willing to aid in keeping her small baby bat warm. Not many found Jeremy nice to look at and even less were willing to let him touch them. Bats were considered unclean vermin to most.
She watched as the small bat tucked himself under the stallion's bearskin, letting out a light, squeaky purr at the warmth. She was about to keep walking when she saw Jeremy scramble out from under the fur and begun squeaking furiously at the treeline. Unless you had adapted to hear Jeremy's squeaks or were within close earshot, one might not even hear them, to begin with. But she did. And those were not simple squeaks. They were forceful, harsh, and Delta noticed that his muzzle was scrunched up so his small fangs were bared.
Something was in the woods and he didn't like it.
The sudden appearance of a glowing ball of light and then the pale Kirin soon after made her stomach twist. She quietly shushed Jeremy to silence, like a mother calming her irate child. The damp bat skittered back under the bearskin and settled for glaring bat-sized daggers at the stranger. One of the first things the dappled mare took care to notice was that he was big. Not overly big, mind you, about the same size as herself and Jushiro. The other was that ball of light. He had Ignacio's gift. He could make that ball of light do whatever he wanted. The only question now was, how skilled was he at controlling the Blessing?
She hated him immediately and made sure he knew it. She could feel the exposed fins on her back flare to double their size as the feeling of being threatened worked its way into her body. Her ears flattened against her skull and her muzzle wrinkled in disgust. He carried himself like a parading noble and his immensely over-cocky attitude made her want to pick up the thickest stick she could find and beat some humility into him. She was starting to wish he had worn her scales, "Peacocky fuck..." she mumbled.... He probably heard that.
After the pale Kirin was finished his... explanation, Delta walked up to stand beside Jushiro, brushing his shoulder with hers (and making sure the new Kirin could see it), "Careful there, Sugar," she warned, her voice no louder than a whisper, "He's too well armed to be considered harmless, and also has your God's Blessing at his disposal. Kirin or not, trust is earned," she knew he already knew that. This was his second mission with the Valkyries after all. He had gained trust from her War Lord and she had given him hers freely. She hoped he didn't falter.
"I need to know that if Kathra gives the order to attack, you'll be there for us..." she paused a moment and then added, softer this time, "That you'll be there for me."
Her gentile eye met his, "Can I trust you with that?"

Amber | Valkyrie
Amber didn’t mind the rain as much. It could grate on one’s nerves but aside from that it wasn’t too bad. She guessed it was because of how her clan respected the rain, a blessing by Cascade. The goddess assisted in nurturing her sister’s creations. As it was uncomfortable at best, the rain not pouring but drizzling. It still wouldn’t be pleasant to sleep in.
She wondered if Kathra was looking for shelter, but she just commented on not getting lost. Amber rolled her eyes, annoyed that the obvious was being stated, but otherwise keeping quiet.
When a figure approached she tensed, regonizing him as a kirin, one of the walking dead. The extinct returned. Were she was respectful of Ignacio, she wasn’t sure what to do with these. Her uncle had told her they were dangerous, not natural and what was against nature, the Storm bringers were sure to loath. Amber was inclined to agree as much as she hated it. She wasn’t sure why they returned or even how. It was said they exploded into existance. Wrong stuff right there. Perhaps it was Argus’ doing, a way to play with them. That god was not to be trusted after all.
Her ears flicked back as the kirin tried to make conversation as if he was warforged. A mocking snort escaped her before she could stop herself as the strangers mentioned wanting to check out if it was a thread. Like he had any bussines doing so. For all Amber cared, they could get lost from their land. What were they doing allowing those to wander around and consume their resources when their own were sold of as slave? Needless to say Amber was bitter over such things.

“ I must admit I'm... A tad lost. I thought I knew the way, but with the light fading, it's been increasingly difficult to find my way."
Alyshia groaned quietly as Poofkin wrapped a concerned tail around her fore-hooves.
So not only was he a random wandering kirin with an ego. He was a helpless one. The Valkyrie couldn’t help thinking of the delicate nobles of Aodh, and as such, could not help rolling her eyes. Bigshot must’ve strolled in here thinking he could tame the woods with his charms and quickly found himself walking around in circles. Well, then, how did that turn out for ya?
But with no good reason to turn Little Lost Scaley-Boy away—and with Kathra urging her party in not so many words to calm down and play nice in the background—Alyshia had a feeling they were going to be finishing off this patrol together.
How delightful.
“Seems like you’re stuck with us,” Aly said with a shrug, politely switching out the “we” and “you” for something more socially acceptable. “Just stay close while we do our job, and there shouldn’t be any problem…”
The mare left her words open ended as she raised a brow, waiting on the newcomer’s name.
OOC: Silverfallingstar gave us the go-ahead to assume that Kathra accepted Skoll into the party!

New and uncharted land can be difficult to traverse even in the best of circumstances... and though the trees seem to be benign, they also are undeniably strange and your group has to work very hard indeed to avoid losing your bearings.
Actually... it sort of does seem like you've been travelling in circles, doesn't it? You swear you've seen this patch of forest before except... except there definitely wasn't a smear of blood marring the tree's trunk before... fresh blood, given how it's still running turgidly towards the ground. Whether you've been going in circles or not, danger is clearly close at hoof; voices sound out all around you, eerie in the mist, and you can hear hoofbeats drumming ever closer, though no other equines have yet appeared.
One thing is clear: the voices are definitely not those of the other Valkyries or Hira. Prepare yourselves!
8 Cultists are attacking you- you're evenly matched (assuming the kirins decide to help...). Please "pick" a cultist (design, blessings and weapons up to you) and play them- for each additional post that you include a NPC cultist with your character, you earn a bonus of +1AP and +2CS. Have fun!

I’m a tad lost. Greer almost thought of telling him to get even more lost but kept her mouth shut, merely smirking at the idea of telling the cocky stranger off. She was surprised when Kathra let the kirin into their group, but made no move to doubt her authorities judgement, merely biting the inside of her cheek to keep in her doubts. While some of the others talked to him in an effort to make conversation and get a more familiar idea of him, Greer merely stared at him, taking in any threat he could pose. However as they traveled on she let her guard down just a bit, still keeping an eye on him though her focus had returned to the woods around them.
Greer watched the trees pass by them, and for a moment, she slowed. That bush, with wild blueberries on it...she had seen that earlier. Next to a dead tree stump. In that moment, Dawn, her snow leopard, trotted from her side and up to wide pine tree and stood on her hind legs, sniffing a patch of fresh blood. So fresh that it was still dripping. Greer whistled lowly and her cat returned to her side. “Kathra.” She said, “It seems that-” Before she could finish her sentence she thought she heard an unfamiliar voice, almost a whisper. Her ears flicked in every direction, taking in whatever sound she could hear at this range. Trees creaking, leaves rubbing together, her own traveling companions breathing and shifting in place. Someone had been following them. Or something.

Mmm. There was skepticism. To be expected, unfortunately... Still, he was almost insulted by the fact they weren't accepting him immediately. Something at the back of his mind nagged, saying that it was his right to gain whatever he wished at the very first indication of wanting something. Where it came from, or why it declared such a thing, he was not entirely sure. Like much of... What nagged at him, it was just there. With no explanation of why or how, and it was infuriating. He was missing pieces. Too many pieces. Something was off, but he could not seem to find what.
“Just stay close while we do our job, and there shouldn’t be any problem…”
The pale kirin's ears pricked, hearing the unicorn urging the others to calm down, and then the acceptance. Oh? A soft smile graced his face, and he dipped his head, internally sneering at the action. Show humility, show them grace, gain their trust, despite how... Undeserving they may be of such an honor. "You have my thanks," Sköll replied, straightening up. "Here, as a token of good faith," he conjured another orb of light, sending it to follow the unicorn. "I would give one to everyone, but I'm afraid I wouldn't have the strength, and, I assume, we wouldn't want to be that brightly lit? But it is growing dark, and I would very much like to not have anyone trip and get hurt."
He had managed to slip into their group. He could perhaps work to gain their trust... Having warrior allies would be quite useful. Despite their... Breeds... And the fact most were mares. He could tolerate them, as long as they were useful. He chose to stay quiet... For now. Most of them seemed terribly dull and mildly suspicious. Still annoying, an inconvenience, but he would not draw attention to himself anymore for some time, simply walking with the group through the trees.
The stench of iron hit his nostrils, and Sköll's nose wrinkled, ears flattening against his head in distaste. Blood. The light from his orbs illuminated the trees around them, and his pupils expanded slightly to study them. Movement on one of the trees caught his gaze, and he watched the crimson liquid run down a trunk from a smear higher up. Ah. Ears swiveling hurriedly, faint voices, hoofbeats, came to his attention. Oh? Instincts told him they would not be friendly, although, few were in this frozen wasteland. He slid his spear from his back, holding it at the ready, lips curling to expose his teeth, long tail beginning to lash behind him. Something was not right, and he would not be caught unaware. The others, he did not care, but he himself, he would be ready.
It was only a few moments after Greer spoke that the hoofbeats grew louder. A blur erupted from the shelter of the trees, metal flashing in the light of the floating orbs. A bulky, rose grey hippocamus mare, wielding a great axe, lunged towards the group, a vicious, booming hiss of "For the glory of Digend!" escaping her mouth, sending a sonic wave as she did so, making the area ring with sudden silence.
OOC: My cultist is a grey, megalodon hippocampus mare with a great axe and Level 2 Sonic Voice, which she just used to cause some deafness (If you want your character to be mildly impaired in the fight, which could get interesting! Of course she didn't ever question Kathra's decisions, but why was this shark with antlers coming along with them? She eyed the glowing orb he summoned as they continued walking, partly because she wondered how something so pretty be made by a guy so...not?
But whatever, as long as he doesn't try to do anything suspicious or harmful, she could try to pretend he wasn't there.
Addeva went back to focusing on the earth beneath her hooves and the trees surrounding them. Ever since she was blessed with earth manipulation, the zonkey has felt more connected to nature than ever. She mentally brushed each rock and the soil as the group passed by.
But something didn't seem right.
The earth here was disturbed by someone other than them, and it felt as if whoever it was, they were still here. Addeva's nostrils flared at the smell of fresh blood, letting out a small gasp as they came across the tree drenched with the red substance. Movement made her unsheathe her dagger in a blink of an eye before a huge mare came lunging towards the stranger. Her scream vibrated through the air, and Addeva squeezed her eyes shut as her ears rang. Casper too, pawed at his ears and resisted the urge to run.
The valkyrie tried to quickly come to her senses, but she was trapped in a daze. The mare spoke of Digend, clearly a mark of a cultist. She shook her head to clear the ringing only to be met with a wallop from below. A solid chunk of ice sent Addeva slightly into the air, taking her breath and causing her to land with a cry. Her dagger was just out of reach. She wheezed as she gathered her lost breath back and stood to her feet, shaken but quick. A form stood before her with a sinister grin, letting loose a laugh. A gangly unicorn stallion stood before her, patterned scars littering his body. "Easy pickings for the almighty Digend!" he roared, this time lunging towards her with throwing knives glowing in his teke.
((OOC: The cultist that Addy will be fighting is a lanky bay roan stallion. He's a unicorn with three sharp rose quartz horns coming from the very top of his head as well as scarification marks across his chest and up his shoulders. He's a creepy looking dude basically. Oh, and he has level 3 frost manipulation with six throwing knives!)) Word count: 350| Post #2

Amber | Valkyrie
Amber was not happy that Kathra accepted the kirin in their party, but there was not much she could do about it. Great, now they’d have to keep an extra eye during this mission. Stupid kirins and their stupid appearing tricks. Why couldn’t they just stay dead? Ignacio had been fine with it! But no, that stupid trickster Argus had to make them pop up in the same manner that this forest popped from the ground. At least she preferred trees to the newcomer.
Aside from a few suspicious glances in Skoll’s direction, she kept quiet, inspecting the area around her. When it started to be clear they were going in circles - Greer seeming to suspect as much, they were interupted. A smear of blood was the only thing to tip them off before approaching hooves could be heard and soon enough enemies were slinging themselves out of the forest and into a fight. Amber heard one mention of the name Digend and she was already cursing about bloody cultsts, turning around and readying weapon and blessing to deal with whoever came at her.
She lashed out with a spike of ice, sneering in agressive victory at the thought of it hitting the first cultist that came at her. Said cultist made her stop dead in her tracks though, big eyes and small posture throwing her off. A shaky knife was held in front of them as if the pointy thing would defend the frail scaled body from the savage age, had Amber not adjusted it’s trajectory. She realized that the pale foal was not only, well, a foal but also kirin. What?
A voice called out. “Don’t hesistate! Strike or Digend will never accept you.” Amber peered past the foal, spotting another in the shadows who was apperently only watching the fight. Not paying attention to the foal however seemed to have been a mistake however as the little thing seemed to have gathered courage and struck forward, earning Amber a gash near her chest. “You little apana shit,” she screeched, ready to lash out right back at them before being once again confronted with the fact that they were very much a child. You didn’t hurt children. But what if said child was attacking with a knife. Her attack missed and she cursed.
Meanwhile the other cultist was yelling again. “Come on, brat. Like you mean it. You are nothing until you proof otherwise!” And the littlest cultist was attacking again, amber doing her best to avoid.
Someone had to be kidding.

Delta didn't like the new Kirin, as if it wasn't obvious enough... But Kathra had made the choice to allow him to join them, and Hira had made Kathra the leader. So Delta resigned herself to simmering in distaste of the golden stallion and had chosen to blatantly ignore him. If she didn't interact with him, maybe he would just go away.
As the group walked on, something about the air made Delta's stomach churn and not in the good way. She subconsciously gripped the hilt of the broad sword at her side. Something was wrong. Hearing a tiny squeak, she turned around to watch Jeremy abandon Jushiro's warm, dry pelt and fly up to cling at the bark of a tree. The tiny bat wasn't the best flyer but the fact that he was actively trying to run away from something made her all the more concerned.
She heard someone gasp and walked up to see why they had all stopped. The nasty scent of fresh blood made her nose wrinkle. The dappled mare watched as it sluggishly ran down the silver tree bark. A series of shouts in the name of Digend caught her slightly off guard. Slightly. The mare spun around only to see a group of cultists rushing at them.
A deafening scream nearest the gold Kirin made her ears ring for a few seconds.
There was a shout from behind her and she spun, raising her sword to block an attack she knew would be there. Steel met steel as her blade colided with another. The mare she was now facing was an extensively sooty buckskin with faint zebra stripes on her face, neck and chest. They both seemed to notice the one massive similarity they had in common at the same time. They were both Betta fish Hippocampus.
Delta's blue and white fins flared, as did the sooty mares' own red and transparent black ones. All it took was a split second and Delta was seeing red. The Valkyrie shoved the sooty mare in the chest with her own, causing her to stumble back. Delta swung her sword at the mares unprotected hide, causing a deep gash that would have been MUCH deeper, had the sooty mare not moved away in time. The two mares traded blows, Delta receiving a decent cut on the side of her neck and nearly pitching a shoe.
The sooty mare laughed every time she landed a blow even if it never drew blood. She was having WAY to much fun to be considered sane. Their swords crashed once more, only this time the sooty mare twisted her blade, dislodging Deltas sword from her teke and sending it to the forest floor some seven feet away. The Cultist laughed at her small victory. But that she had taken her eyes off of Delta for a second to many. The silver mare lunged forward and bit the mare on the underside of the throat, the force of the hit knocking the wind out of the sooty mare, along with her own sword.
Using her back legs, Delta forced the mare into a rear and toppled her backwards, sending her into the thick mud below them. Delta was breathing hard, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth and from a nostril. She glared down at the stunned Cultist with unmatched fury. Onea was HER territory. This second-rate betta mare was NOT going to just waltz in and take it!, "I don't need a sword to beat you, you bitch!"

…He didn’t give his name.
Alyshia did not like this stranger.
She was also scarcely impressed by the little pet light-ball that he sent after Kathra; quite honestly she was scarcely impressed with anything about him, but there was nothing to be done about it, now. Whoever this aimless wanderer could be was here to stay.
Their trek through the woods had been largely silent, since then, the Valkyries’ general dislike—or distrust, or both, really—of the mysterious kirin speaking louder than anything else. Alyshia sullenly kept to herself, shifting glances at Addeva and their sisters-in-arms now and again. At first this had been out of casual habit, but as the foliage grew denser—and the path more winding—it became an act of reassurance. The patrol had to fight hard to keep themselves both from splintering off from each other and from walking around in circles, and even Kathra seemed to be in something of a battle of wits with the woodlands’ strangeness. This was no passive walk through the wilderness, but something else, entirely.
And Alyshia did not like this, either.
Her familiar did what she could to alleviate the mare’s anxieties. Poofkin stayed attentive to their surroundings as the Valkyries struggled to navigate their way through the forest, ears pricked and maw opened to catch scents wafting from the fog around them. The snow leopard also rubbed her pelt along the occasional tree they passed. Every now and again she would scratch at the trunks for good measure, too, although she appeared to have trouble sinking her claws through the thick bark.
What finally pulled the party out from their intense focus was the splash of blood against one of those all-too-familiar trees.
And the ominous beating of hooves against the earth.
There was barely any time to react to the ambush. Someone was shrieking, loudly enough for Aly’s ears to flatten in pain. Addeva was assaulted with a chunk of ice as a spindly unicorn leapt for her, and Alyshia barely had the chance to scream her name before a large hippocampus dove for her. Months of diligent training caused her to throw up a force-field on impulse, but what should have sent the hippo flying against a tree only had her go through it. Alyshia didn’t have a chance to make sense of it. The cultist tumbled harmlessly before springing back up and resuming the charge.
The Valkyrie let out a battle cry as she grabbed for her sword. The soil bubbled and clambered over itself from behind the hippocampus, molding itself until another mare, a perfect twin in Alyshia’s image, took form and knocked the cultist off her feet. Alyshia threw her the sword—the replica, being without armor, would need it more—and kicked dirt into the hippo’s eyes. Knives were sent flying at her in response, but this time she was too winded from the summoning to throw up a shield. Aly hissed as some of the knives made their mark, grazing against her flesh as they flew past.

Jushiro looked at Kathara, making an silent exchange ‘please let me talk to him.’ Hearing Delta say ‘peacocky fuck’ Jushiro winced. For the first few weeks he was the same. Actually he was terrible the first few weeks, breaking stuff causing a ruckus, slamming equine to thew ground demanding to be freed... It wasn't pretty.. He cringed thinking about it. As Delta moved before him and spoke Shiro thought about her words, turning them over in his mind. Carefully he brushed past her, letting their sides and shoulders graze. It was not to ignore her, but to let her know that he was there and wouldn’t do anything completely stupid. “I understand, and will be there.” Jushiro said under his breath to her, locking eyes with her and smiling before looking at Sköll. “Brother, a lot has changed. We make tensions high in these lands,” He said stressing the ‘we’.
As Alyshia invited Sköll to stay close and not cause issues he gave her a look of thanks before nodding to his fellow Kirin.
Tthe patrol continued to move Jushiro noticed something was off. His warrior instincts screaming at him, “I don’t like this.” He mumbled to delta. He heard it first, a snap behind the trees, trying to stay out of the light. Jushiro dropped his head, like a bull about to charge as cultists seemed to come out of thin air. He heard the shark hippocampus screech, disorienting him and draiwng his attention. He whipped his head to look at the cultist which was his first mistake. Jushiro felt a hoof slam into his skull and his world was pitched sideways. He fell on his side hard. With wild eyes Jushiro looked for his attacker. The moment his eyes fell on the pasofino Pegasus he knew. The palomino demon was cackling at Jushiro's fallen state. It’s black wings opened wide, gloating. Jushiro pushed himself up as the mare finally got a grip on it and had the nerve to smile at him. “My my, easier to knock down than I expected.” She mused. If Jushiro wasn’t seeing red before, he was now. “Fallen or standing, however you die will be fine by me. Digend doesn’t care.” She hissed the end before running at Jushiro again. More prepared this time the two slammed into one another. Jushiro wrestled the mare to the ground, horns puncturing her shoulders but she only laughed at his pain. Ripping his antler from her flesh he looked into her eyes and was taken back to see crimson.
All words fell out of his mouth as he remember the eyes of a Pegasus a long time ago who shoved a javelin deep into his own soul and glaring at him as his heart finally stopped on a field covered in chaos.
The cultist mare took this moment to slam a front hoof into his face and wiggle to freedom, letting a crazed laughter out the whole time as Shiro stumbled back.

Greer [ post # 3 || word count: 522 ] |
Before she could utter another word, screams and the violent thundering of hooves filled her ears and soon their situation became clear. They were surrounded by cultists, announcing their support of the god Digend as they attacked the valkyrie’s group. I knew that Kirin was up to no good! Greer thought to herself, assuming he had something to do with this. What had been creepy, almost eerily silent woods just seconds earlier were now overwhelmingly loud as the cultists launched into a full attack. Bodies hurtled past her, and Greer quickly unsheathed her sword and prepared herself to fight. She watched as each of her traveling companions picked off the Cultists, waging battle against an opponent of their choosing. Looking around with wide but determined eyes, she locked with the narrow eyes of a coal black mule. His eyes were unnaturally blue and his mane was cropped, some small chunks hanging on his neck with beads woven into them. His grin was evil as he charged at her, but she had trained for just this. She wasn't the villager holding the broken staff of a broom anymore, doing her best to defend her shop against the bloody flank; She was a trained Valkyrie who was armed, even if she did not possess a blessing yet. “Little mare, Digend will be most pleased with me.” He said, flicking his tongue that was split down the middle like a snake. Once he was close enough, Greer grabbed his neck in her jaws and yanked him to the side, attempting to slit his throat to end the battle as quickly as possible and help one of her fellow valks. He laughed, managing to free himself from her grasp, his neck bloodied now. “Good, I was hoping i hadn’t picked a weakling. Your death will be most satisfying.” He chuckled. They rotated in a circle, sizing each other up before she felt the strangest sensation. Her breathing became shallow, her lungs aching in her chest. His eyes were locked on hers, and the closer he became the harder her breathing became. She could hardly breath and she remembered; during her training she would use her free time to read up on all of the recorded blessings. She had thought it would be a good idea to learn them all so she might have an idea of what to do in the situation of a battle against an opponent possessing said blessing. Her best bet was to weaken his focus, so she charged, using her weight against his and pushing him back a foot or so, swinging her sword and cutting a deep gash in his leg. However, the cultist was armed too. He had a small dagger as one of his weapons, and he buried it deep in her shoulder. The very shoulder that was scarred so deeply from the poison bolt that Astrid had shot her with. The wound sung with pain, but the adrenaline had overtaken most of her senses. The cultist, distracted by his own wound, weakened his lethal grip on her and she felt a deep rush of oxygen enter her system. ____ OOC: Greer's cultist is a black mule with appaloosa spotting (?) sta.sh/012kesi7wgwi with a dagger and level four oxygen manipulation "We used to play outside when we were young and full of life and full of love." |

The rising tensions of the Valkyries behind her did not go unnoticed, quickly she swung her head back at the others, offering a silent look of Behave, I will not have unnecessary fighting on my watch. She didn't look for long though, and soon her purple eyes were locked onto the pale kirin again.
He was suspicious, of course, but for the moment, leaving him to his own devices was probably a worse idea than keeping him around. Not that their numbers weren't enough, Kathra just wasn't sure if he would run off in that case and alert someone unsavory to their presence. Giving the kirin a final, and very scrutinizing once over, she spoke.
"It seems, for the moment, our interests align, you may come." However, her words were trained, others who had been on missions with her before might catch the underlying distrust to her words. There would be no dropped guard from her tonight. With a quick motion, she urged the party onward. The sudden appearance of the light orb as a "token of thanks" from the pale newcomer only elicited a quiet grunt in response. The gesture was nice, it's not like he could know that she could easily change her eyes to see in the fading light, so she allowed it. It was likely the gesture was just to curry favor amongst the group, or herself in particular. Eh, whatever, let him try, he had yet to prove his mettle anyway.
Their travels led them deeper into the forest but soon things seemed to change, or rather, not change. Bushes passed by that had certainly been passed by before, but with added flecks of blood. The iron scent of blood hit her nose the instant she took a moment to shift it to something more sensitive. When Greer began to speak, Kathra had only just turned her head to face her shield-sister, then she too, heard the other voices.
They no longer were alone.
Kathra's axe was out in an instant. Suddenly, eight cultists were swarming the small group, one blasting out a war cry along with a sonic boom. She returned with one of her own. "Valkyries! To arms! For the glory of the War-Forged!" and just like that, the clearing erupted in the sounds of battle.
Quickly, her friends and temporary companions (in the case of the kirins) were engaged in combat, until only one remained. A unicorn, pelt a sooty chestnut, one foreleg white up to the knee. Their one horn a translucent reddish purple. Something was off about the equine's shadow, as it seemed to take on a mind of it's own and unsheathe one of the daggers on the physical cultist. For a moment, Kathra hesitated, having never seen such a thing before. The cultist, sensing hesitation, leaped forward, their own dagger drawn as both the equine and it's shadow came for her.
Kathra's response was to let out a loud, challenging bellow as she swung to meet them.
Her grandfather's axe will taste blood on this night.

WARNING: DELTA DOES A SWEARS ODO! The sooty Cultist mare gawked up at Delta as the Valkyrie spat her threat, “Get up, bitch! You wanted a fight and now you got one!”
The sooty mare didn't waste any time. She rolled off of her back and lunged at Delta's neck, not bothering to pick her own sword back up. The dappled mare dodged the bite rather easily, rounding and delivering one of her own. She threw her weight into the bite, knocking them both off balance, but keeping the Cultist underneath the larger mare. Delta brought her front hooves up and raked the cleated iron shoes down the sooty mare's sides, staining the white on Delta's legs crimson.
They landed in the mud hard and Delta was up first. The blow didn't keep the sooty mare down as long this time, however. She was up almost as soon as Delta's weight had left her. This time when she lunged, the bite met it's mark, although.... perhaps not in the place she had intended.
The sooty mare's teeth sank into the thick leather on Delta's back, small fangs puncturing the hide but not strong enough to go through it completely. The Valkyrie swung her rear around and hip-checked the Cultist in the shoulder, dislodging her. The silvery mare took a moment to examine the damage and noted that the skin under the bite tingled unpleasantly.
Blue-green eyes shot a questioning glare at the Cultist and Delta noted a small amount of clear, thick substance being spat out by the sooty mare. It was much to thick to have been saliva, having almost the consistency of weak syrup. The Valkyrie wasn't stupid. She knew her Goddess' blessings by heart. That fucking Cultist could produce Venom,
“I don't need a sword either!” the Cultist spat angrily. Delta scoffed as the two circled each other, readying for the next round of attacks, “And yet I've thrown you to the ground twice already. You've never fought with someone who can fight back before, have you?”
The sooty mare snarled in response, pink eyes ablaze with fury. Delta couldn't help but mentally laugh at her. She was a rank amateur. Not in killing but in combat. Her movements were blunt, predictable and sloppy. There was no way she was escaping alive.
Not if she had any say in it.
A winged figure crashing through the trees distracted the Valkyrie and her opponent. Delta watched as the pegasus mare rushed Jushiro for a second time, kunai knives narrowly missing the roan stallion's shoulder.
N o t o n h e r f u c k i n g w a t c h ! !
Quickly taking advantage of her opponent's distraction, Delta lunged once more and sunk her teeth into the crest of the sooty mare's neck, spun around and lobbed her into a boulder. Quickly locating her sword, Delta rushed over, snatched it off of the ground and bolted over to aid Jushiro. She was sure he could take care of himself, but that Cultist wasn't fighting fair (not that they would to begin with). She was staying well out of his katana's reach and taunting him from her advantage points. Like a cat playing with a mouse.
It seemed that Delta had timed her charge perfectly. The third time the mare landed, Delta charged up from behind, swinging her sword upwards as the palomino spread her wings to take off again. The Valkyrie's blade sliced through the flight feathers of her right wing easily and the silvery mare barrelled through the flurry of feathers to skid to a stop between Jushiro and the pegasus. She rid her blade of down with a practiced flick, giving an aggressive snort that came out sounding more like a growl.
Delta silently cursed when she saw the Sooty mare halt beside her comrade.
Casting Jushiro a confident smile, she looked back at the two Cultists, “What do you say we show these cunts what happens when they mess with War Forged?” she asked the stallion.
Giving her sword a spin, she launched at the sooty mare, hearing the Kirin behind her kick off the muddy earth as well.
Time to unleash the Dragons.

Off on the outskirts of the battlefield, a pale brown snow leopard lay stunned in the tall grass. She gasped for breath as her ears rang, eyes wide as she struggled to make sense of the newly deafened world and to locate her master.
The Hippocampus—Alyshia mentally deemed her ‘Stabby’—had proven herself to be a challenging opponent. Even with her being outnumbered by Aly and… herself… flanking Stabby long enough to get the upper hoof was an ongoing struggle. She used what Alyshia now recognized as Cascade’s intangibility to pass through everything that the Valkyries considered an obstacle. Boulders, bushes, trees, none of it made a difference. It was impossible to corner a cultist that feared no object. Twice the replica swung the sword against rocks or bark left in Stabby’s place, causing Alyshia to swear under her breath. The mere scratches they’d managed to land on the hippocampus’ skin wasn’t going to win the battle.
“Some cultist,” she hissed, summoning up a small shield. “Lead a charge on soldiers just to play hide and seek and let the trees take your blows?” Stabby had materialized her way up onto a small ledge, and was currently smirking at her two attackers as she slowly recollected her knives. “You lack the bravado to sate your bloodlust. Irresolute, slimy wretch!”
Alyshia faltered briefly, her eyes narrowing. Was that f-cker really licking her knives?!
“My my,” Stabby chuckled. “Digend has blessed me with a worthy kill. As your blood delights me, so shall it delight Digend’s heart when it soaks through the earth—”
A sudden shriek tore out from her as the replica slashed the sword against her foreleg. Stabby collapsed, inhaling sharply through her teeth before baring them in a maddened grin.
“—and down his throat!!!”
Off the knives flew, again, this time pelting Alyshia’s duplicate. Many of them slashed at the twin’s face, but one—a dangerously aimed one—found its way into the side of her neck. Replica recoiled as Stabby sank through the rock, bundling her legs underneath her as she made to sprint again, but the cultist was cut short when a forehoof slammed itself down onto her spine and pinned her to the ground. The previously embedded knife now flew through Stabby’s right ear, ripping a hole through it as it buried itself into the earth a tail's length away.
Alyshia didn’t know what she’d been expecting when she looked up at her mirror image… but it wasn’t the fleeting moment of sheer, burning rage that seemed to course through the replica’s eyes for a single heartbeat.
The moment vanished, leaving a familiarly passive looking clone in its wake. But the unsettled bewilderment Alyshia felt just then remained. It… it would have to be pushed aside, for now.
Alyshia reared to crush Stabby’s skull as she bit at Replica’s foreleg, but even when dazed the cultist was just too fast for them. She rolled out of the way and stumbled through the trees, but the Valkyrie could see her shadow circling back, trying to find another angle…

Amber | Valkyrie
Amber bared her teeth as Cultists spread out around her, every one of her comrads up against one of these pests. She was incredibly and deeply done with them, anger flaring up in her at the thought of these cultists infecting their land. Like those bloody flanks weren’t enough.
For all the anger she had however, excellent battle fuel, it did little good with the opponent she was facing. In a moment of rage, spurred on by the nonsense their enemies were shouting at her fellow valks, she lashed out with her own dagger, parrying a strike from the foal and hitting it just under the eye. The foal cried out, blood quickly trickling down their cheek and tears springing to their eyes. Amber faltered, suddenly reminded of Nathaniel. The cultist behind the trees cackled, before ordering to strike. Amber who had forgotten about herself for a second didn’t dodge in time, earning her a strike left across her chest.
She hissed, hot blood making it’s way down from the wound and seeping into her coat down her leg. She pulled up a barried of ice, shielding herself, taking a moment to take account of the battle around her. This was chaos, though right now it seemed like everybody was fighting one on one, if you didn’t count the spectating mare. This needed to end before the schale tipped out of their favor.
Making a quick decission she pulled out her bow, pulling more ice forward and around the foal who had started to come around, making a barrier. She wasn’t killing a kid if she could help it, especially not a scared one. Instead she took aim at mare in the shadows and released. No hiding on her watch, she was going down.

║⟪⟡ S K Ö L L ⟡⟫║ "Can I tell you that in my eyes not even God would be good enough to command you?"
What was that. Sköll's ears pinned flat in a futile attempt to stop the silencing ringing now sitting in them, and his eyes squeezed shut for a brief moment. The last thing he heard was the scream of... Digend? What was that? Opening his eyes, gaze hastily flicking around, tail lashing like an angry cat, he could see the weapons clashing, see the enemies, and the small band's mouths open in voiceless shouts. Deaf? He could not go deaf! What was this!? Pupils thinning into sharp, razor lines, a snarl escaped his mouth. The hippocampus. The one with the axe. That was the one who had ruined his senses! Head whirling, mane flying, Sköll's icy gaze whipped to the large, grey hippocampus mare who was cackling and raising her axe in a confident, intimidating gesture. That bitch.
Sköll ground his teeth, hooves digging into the ground before he launched towards her. She was big, bulky, had an obvious strength advantage. But she would be slow, unable to move quickly. He had range on her too, fighting with Lightpiercer. He would use it to his advantage. Despite the hearing impairment, his other senses were still grand and powerful. Smell, touch, sight, he could still fight properly. He just had to keep her at a distance, prevent her from getting up close, and he would be victorious.
Rearing up, the charging kirin did not go unnoticed by the cultist mare. Pink eyes widened for a brief moment and then narrowed in cruel amusement. Smile on her face, she dropped down to the ground, mud splattering from the impact. "Bring it pretty boy!" She cackled, despite knowing he could not hear a thing.
She was taking to him. Laughing. She was insulting him. And he could not hear what she was saying! She was insulting him behind his back, despite being directly pointed at his face! How impossibly rude, out of place, and disgusting could she be?! Of course, she was a mare. Only a mare could be like this. Skidding to slow down in the mud, cringing at the likely stains it would cause, Sköll twirled his spear, bringing it to his front before thrusting it at the mare.
The cultist laughed, batting the spear to the side with her axe. Did he think it would be that easy? Probably not. He was one of those weird Kirins, the ones who just appeared without any memory. He probably was stupid and knew absolutely nothing. She'd be able to take him down easily, and his blood would be spilled for Digend.
Hissing, Sköll brought his spear back, holding it to the side. Muscles tensed, he watched her closely. He needed to watch her, observe how she fought, find the weak points. The small moment of stillness from him seemed to encourage her, and he reared up, leaping to the side to avoid a heavy handed, aggressive axe blow which slammed into the ground just moments after he left the spot behind.

This time, she was going to be ready. She eyed the creepy guy as he rushed for her, his eyes ablaze with fury and hunger. Addeva stood where she was, unmoving much like a boulder, waiting for the right moment.
His hooves thundered against the wet earth, getting closer and closer. Addeva stood at the ready and...
She could feel the air from one of his knives being thrown at her as it passed while she leaped clear over the stallion in a back flip. The Valkyrie became nearly weightless, almost floating as she released the ties she had to the ground. Creepy certainly wasn't expecting his tiny target to completely disappear, and so he tried to stop his momentum from moving forward by bracing his hooves against the mud. Using this moment to her advantage, the still airborne Valkyrie immediately switched to the other extreme. She twisted in the air calling on her density to rush back towards the earth, her forelegs bracing for impact.
With a silent prayer that her attack would land, she was brought down to the ground with a thunderous crash, cracking the ground and calling upon the earth to rise. Jagged rocks lifted from under hoof slightly towards the mid-motion Creepy, who would have surely been knocked off his feet harshly...if the rocks were on target. Addeva gritted her teeth as her failed attempt made it clear that she still had not yet mastered earth manipulation. Her breathing was heavy. An attack like that had taken a lot out of her. She would have to be more careful to conserve her energy.
Creepy let loose another gross laugh. "Well well, it looks like I underestimated you. Not only one but two blessings from the wretched earth goddess. Pathetic to think anyone would see you worthy of anything."
Addeva stood with an attack stance in her tiny self made crater, ears swiveled back. "Shut up!" she barked before bounding forward in one weightless leap, aiming to headbutt the creep in his scarred chest. He swiftly danced to the side, narrowly missing the zonkey's head. "Oooh, I see I've hit a nerve."
"STOP TALKING!" She roared, her emotions getting the best of her as she reached for her dagger only to find that it was missing somewhere in the mud. 'Oh no...' Suddenly, a glint of metal. With one rapid, expert movement, Creepy launched two of his throwing knives straight at Addeva. She jerked to the side, but pain raked through her her cheek as the knives glided through her flesh. She let out a screech of pain, feeling the blood drip down her face. She looked at her attacker with a scowl, but he only looked back at her with a knowing smile. In his mind, he thought he was going to win. He's seen this before, the last fighting look of a victim before he took a life.
But little did he know that the young Valkyrie wasn't like all the others he's taken down. She wasn't going to yield easily. Addeva let out a chirp, a very distinct one, and not a split second later a bluish gray blur darted from the shadows with a yowl, aiming straight for the cultist.

Greer [ post # 4 || word count: 436 ] |
Taking a deep breath, Greer grunted as she surged forward, swinging her sword wildly. The cultist dodged her weapon, closing the space between them and reaching for her throat with bared teeth. Turning on her heel, she kicked out with her back legs and threw him off his balance. She could feel her body growing heavy as he sucked the air right out of her lungs.
“What is it? Cat got your tongue?” He said, sticking out his own and wiggling it in a nauseating manor. She grit her teeth and turned back to face him, striking out with her front hooves and putting her head over the crest of his neck, kicking at his knees and pulling him to the ground. In his eyes, she could see the confidence leave. “Wait-”
“You talk too much.” She hissed, driving her sword into his chest. Her face was coated with a small drops of blood that sprayed from the wound. She told herself ‘Don't look at his eyes’ but it was too late. She almost threw up at the sight and couldn't stop herself from imagining what he must have looked like as a foal, innocent and pure. He had let go of her lungs but she could hardly catch her breath. During the fight, she had been relying on her training, she hadn't given it a second thought and now it was the only thing she could think about. She had taken her first life.
Ripped from her thoughts by the overwhelming sound of battle, Greer did her best to distract herself from the immense guilt she felt crawling up her throat and focused on helping her sisters. Closest to her was Addeva, a small zonkey who she wasn't very familiar with. Greer watched as throwing knives from the cultist across from the little mare grazed her tender skin, drawing blood. Where is her dagger? Greer had only noticed it earlier because of the intricate carvings in the bronze handle. Looking to the mud at their feet she spotted a fleck of the metal and drew it from the ground. “Addeva!” She called, using her telekinesis to pass her the weapon, not realizing that a similar dagger was still lodged in her shoulder. Dawne was at her side now. While the snow leopard was fiercely protective, she was not used to battle and had fled to the trees.
She threw her weight into the hilt of her heavy sword, spinning it in the air above her; Greer took three large, ground covering steps toward the appaloosa hippocampus and stood at Addevas side, Dawne growling threateningly.
"We used to play outside when we were young and full of life and full of love." |

As Delta seemingly came from nowhere Jushiro had to stop and admire the gorgeous mare. As she flicked her sword and snorted he grinned at her, showing off sharp fangs, she was deadly as ever. Hearing her next words Jushiro’s grin only grew. “Glady.” He readied his katana, pulling it from its sheath and readying his muscles. Jushiro bellowed as he ran at the palomino, like a fright train coming off the rails.
Jushiro’s breath was becoming ragged at the cultist and him clashed over and over. He learned she favored her wings and quick fly by strikes. She was gearing up for another attack, he could see it in her eyes and the shudder in her wings. The mare took a few steps then rocketed off the ground headed for him, kunai soaring ahead, each aimed for his either his chest or his unprotected eyes. Jushiro used his katana to black every strike. The kunai and sword would clang. The smaller blade would be knocked aside and spiral off. The Mare screeched in her rage as she slammed into Jushiro and flew up. She circled around and tried to dive bomb him again. Jushiro sidestepped this rather easily. The cultist flew up and looked at him from the tops of the trees. Jushiro held her glare. The mare nose dived this time and jushiro readied himself. She flew straight at him, gaining speed, just before she could slam into him Jushiro created a small force field right in front of her head. The mare screeched as she ran head first into it and started tumbling to the ground, blood leaking from a cut on her head. Jushiro took this moment, watched her limbs flair, and attacked. The mare and him moved past one another. Jushiro could see the whites of her eyes as he went the opposite way then her. His katana followed. With a sickening wet sound the katana cut clean through the horses leg and bone, sending it flying off from her body. Jushiro slid to a halt as time seemed to speed up back up and the cultist slammed face first into the ground. He looked back at her, sword level with her head.
It took her awhile to stand on her three legs. Blood was gushing from where her other limb was, mere moments ago. Jushiro allowed his cat like eyes to look for it. He found it in a pool of blood, a few yards away. “You must think you’re sooooo clever!” She hissed “But not clever enough.” And cackled. Jushiro was about to ask what she meant but felt a cool but warm place on his body. Looking at himself he saw she embedded her kunai into his back left flank. The little mare cackled again, pleased with herself.
