Alcaeus; Serora | The Folk
Alcaeus was surprised by the question for a second, more so the emotions behind it. He pulled back his head a slight bit and looked at Jibrel for guidance. Who only seemed to be quiet, wanting him to explain. Explain what, he wasn’t sure. So he paused for a moment, trying to figure out the whole situation.
They were clearly a Kirin - he didn’t know much about them; this was the first one he met after all. But there was rumours of them reappearing - being reborn? He couldn’t remember the whole thing. He didn’t know extensive lore, either. All he could do was guess, guess what he wanted to hear.
He looked back at Jibrel again briefly, mouth agape, one last final look as if asking for help, before he simply admitted defeat and looked back at Tamaras. He wasn’t sure what to say or expect, so vague was probably best, least for the moment. “Alya has helped us in many senses-“ vague, “- but no god has been here to physically take action with us like in the god’s war.” His eyes looked towards Tamaras. “They’ve taken action and spoken to us - but…” He led off. He didn’t know all of the history. Of Alya either - maybe he was missing stuff.

Mordekai turned his gaze to a new pegasus, who had landed near them. They seemed to be blind, with feathers near their eyes. He couldn't quite make out whether there were feathers instead of eyes or just near them. In any case, the pegasus had asked them about where they were. "If you seek the Oasis, you have arrived at the right place! My name is Mordekai" He said to pegasus, trotting over to them. He felt the kirin and pegasus hybrid was not interested in having him there. It seemed like maybe too much was going on for them, and the pegasus tried to make conversation. It was interesting to watch, but he didn't feel like interrupting. However, their words caught his attention. There was something in the hybrids voice, when asking about the Gods. Longing? Confusion? He wasn't sure, but it seemed... odd. He knew that the kirins existence was mostly unknown, their reason for popping up and how they did it was a mystery. He'd only met Amaranthe for know, who he sometimes trained with (which mostly included scaring her into a reaction, but they had talked about it and she didn't seem to mind anymore).
Mordekai turned his head towards the hybrid, curious to see and hear more of their conversation. Alya had come back to help them once, but that was a rare thing, unlikely to happen again. The Gods don't interact much, not on a personal level unless it's a blessing perhaps. He hadn't seen Alya himself and he probably wouldn't for many years. The hybrid, wherever he came from, must have been thinking the Gods were there more.
"Pardon me" He called out to the hybrid, fixing his gaze on it and picking up where Alceus had trailed off. "The Gods... They don't walk among is, if that's what you mean. They're out there, somewhere. Keeping an eye on us. I suppose they hope we can figure things out for ourselves, instead of having to guide us. Maybe they hope we have learned from past wars, hoping we know how to end it and survive." Mordekai wasn't entirely sure what to say, but he meant what he had said. He hoped the rest of Hireath knew to stop this too, it never did any good anyways. Hadn't they learned from other wars?

TAMARAS Tamaras had expected Jibriel to shut them up, to not embarrass them both by asking such weird questions. It was difficult, they understood as much. But it wasn’t right, and it didn’t make sense. If anything could just make sense… But Jibriel didn’t stop them, and instead seemed to want Alcaeus to explain. So, Tamaras waited with almost pleading eyes.
Of course Alcaeus didn’t tell them what they wanted to hear, and the hurt was visible in the bright, slitted eyes. They knew that somehow it all tied into the torn up memories that would not combine into a whole picture inside their head, but it didn’t make it any less devastating. No gods. And this pegasus said it like everyone knew it; there was no sadness, no rage, nothing. Just acceptance, like it was the norm.
Their gaze whipped over to Mordekai as the common horse spoke. They wanted to call the speaker a liar, but no one was stepping up and saying it was false. Tamaras glanced around themselves, as if asking anyone to say something else, anything else. When no one did, the long hybrid tail lay flat against the ground, defeated. It was hard to find solace in the thought that the gods were watching, if they would not help. If their people would be huddled up together, lost and afraid, fearing war and destruction. The thought was almost enough to trigger something within, but not quite.
“I see. I’m sorry, I guess I was just confused”, Aras said meekly, not really meaning it but not quite willing to explain in front of all these strangers. Neither of them really understood it all themselves, either.

Lemon All I need to know is how to gain control Of the shapeless soul x | x Leading her over and sitting down with both foals, lemon helped them readjust their shakey grips on the paintbrush, showing them how to hold them low to make it easier. Aliya’s tears made his heart hurt and all he wished to do was comfort the small foal. She was so young, too young for any of this. All the foals and yearlings in the herd were really, stuck to their parent's legs and blinking up with fear filled eyes. It made his heart hurt but his blood boil. Damn those Aodhian scum, didn’t they see what they were doing? What they were tearing apart.
Realizing that he had almost snapped a brush in half, Lemon quickly shook his head and smiled down at the little pegasi. He listened intently to her words, even if they were mumbled through half cries. He already knew who her parents were, was good friends with Adonis. Using his teke to gently stroke her hair back, he smiled patiently “I saw your dads early hun, and they are both okay. They just have some stuff to take care of and then i'm sure they’ll come back for you and your sister. You too, Moe.”
Looking up at the sky, Lemon inhaled deeply ‘We’re all going to be fine, one way or another” he said, his tone optimistic.

Alcaeus; Serora | The Folk
Another horse spoke after him about the gods. Enough to turn Alcaeus’ head and listen intently. The reaction of the Hybrid intrigued him. He seemed genuinely upset by the words spoken, about the lack of the presence of them. He frowned a bit, twitching his tail a bit. There was stories of gods in the world at one point, but he honestly just assumed they were nothing more but rumours. He’d been around to see the god’s intervention, seen the Devine back in Talori sprout wings in person. He’d heard the voice of Cascade whispered across the herd. They watched, he knew that.
“Did-did they really walk the earth?” It felt odd to ask, and he was more than a bit oddly intimidated to ask it in the first place. He didn’t know anything about the Kirins, or Hybrids alike, of their history or what they knew. He didn’t know anything about this horse, but he wasn’t sure if it was worth holding back his curiosity. “I know the gods are around, they keep watch of us for sure, especially now more than ever. We’re not without their guidance, they’ve intervened when they were needed, they’ve been there to protect us.” Saying that felt a bit disconnected from the question he’d just asked, “but I only heard ancient stories of them being there in person…”

JIBRIEL Jibriel was silent as Alcaeus spoke the truth. At times like this, it sure was a shame Alya did not soar among them with her many wings. Then again, were she here, surely Ignacio would be as well. Jibriel had known many depictions of the god of fire during his life, none of them anything less than terrifying.
Another voice joined, and he smiled sadly. Out there, somewhere. Yes indeed. The meek tone of Aras’ voice – he had grown good at telling the two apart – made him feel sad, and gently he stepped a little closer again, extending a soft wing in a comforting manner. This revelation of the absence of gods was not easy for Tamaras, no matter how many times the hybrid was told about it. Perhaps they hoped that eventually the answer would change.
“Tamaras do not remember much”, Jibriel replied softly, his eyes on the hybrid as he spoke. Watching their face for any sign that they might have been overwhelmed. This was so many more strangers than his friend was used to, and although Tamaras were absolutely both adults, there was a fragility to their existence. “But by that they swear”, he said, leaving space for Tamaras to tell it in their own words as well. “I found Tamaras in the desert one night, ripped back into existence. It has… Tt has been a long road”, Jibriel said simply, knowing the road would still go on. There was so much to learn, relearn and take heed off.

EVEN IF I'M SORE, I'LL LOOK FOR YOU post 4 | 224 words Brooklyn kept glancing over at the small pegasus Moe and the other horse that they were with. Turning back to Helios, she gave him a warm smile. "Thank you so much," she said softly. She slowly picked up the cookies and milk, dipping her head to give him another thank you. She then made her way throw the crowd of others, trying to find where Moe had gone. They were accompanied by another person and they seemed to be painting some pots. With a small smile, she approached them. "Helios is giving out cookies and milk," she started, looking over at the two of them. "I thought I'd bring some over," she said. There was an empty crate near them and carefully placed the food on top of it like a table. Her eyes fell onto the painted pots, following their beautiful designs. "Lovely work," she mumbled. "Yours is really coming alone, Moe," Brooklyn smiled. She could appreciate the sense of community that Serora gave, even towards outsiders. She did not truly belong in Sedo, yet she was welcomed as if she had lived there her entire life. She wished for nothing more than for Serora to destroy Aodh in this war. It would not only save her home, it would also be another form of revenge for the way her family was treated.

Aliyah wondered where her sister was amongst all the chaos. All she wanted to do was to curl up with her and her dads and wish for all of this to be over. Aliyah was too frozen to move but would catch glimpses of Yeshua and Adonis in brief moments - or the glint of bright purple plumage of Yemina. Aliyah began to panic again, barely holding it together before she felt a gentle stroke down her back and Lemons soothing voice. Aliyah felt herself calming down once more when Lemon spoke about seeing her Dads. Aliyah slowly walked over to Moe who was happily fumbling with a paint brush – which suddenly seemed to demand a lot more of her own interest.
Aliyah looked back to Lemon, sniffling away the last of her tears and mumbled “Can I paint one too?”. Her bright blue eyes were drawn to what Moe was doing – which seemed to be a combination of making marks and waving the brush wildly. Suddenly, another kind unicorn walked over, offering cookies and milk. Aliyahs ears seemed to pick up and she looked at the unicorn intently, but perhaps shied away a little bit. Aliyahs teke seemed to fumble its way over to the cookies, but she had not quite mastered it fully yet and one fell to the ground. She felt deflated and drooped her head low, before trying again. Once she had gobbled it down and the sugar perked her spirits she looked to the kind unicorn who had brought the sweet treats over and spoke very softly “I….I am Aliyah…..who…are you?”

Tamaras seemed... partly confused by the answer Mordekai and the other pink-winged pegasus had given them. He realized that Tamaras was more than Mordekai had expected - maybe something older than most had thought. How else could they be confused about the Gods and where they were? They hadn't done anything for ages, no direct help at least. He started to feel bad for the kirin, being so new and lost here, where they should have felt at home. Of course, not really anyone knew (or remembered) who or where the kirins came from. He gave Tamaras an almost apologetic look, before turning to Alceus. Alceus seemed interested in what Tamaras meant, with the Gods walking the earth. Mordekai was interested too, it would almost be impossible not to be. Jibriel, Tamaras' companion, butted in. A long road. Mordekai could only try to imagine what he meant with that. How much Tamaras had been through - what he might have forgotten. What was it like, not even remembering who you were?
Shaking his head slightly, Mordekai looked at the tree other around him. "I can only imagine what it's like for you, Tamaras. But I hope you find your way, some day." He spoke softly. "I must excuse myself though, I need to get back to Pangolin and keep an eye on her" Smiling a little, he turned his back on the trio and went back to his adopted daughter, Pangolin. Maybe the cookies, milk and feather from Helios could cheer her up and keep her mind away from what what going on.

Lemon All I need to know is how to gain control Of the shapeless soul x | x Continuing to gently run his teke along and through Aliyah’s hair and feathers, Lemon watched moe paint to their best extent, smiling encouragingly at the globs and random shapes taking place on the small pot. Moe seemed to be having fun, their mind taken off of just what exactly was happening around them and Lemon hoped that Aliyah would soon join in.
Speaking of which, Lemon’s large ears perked up when he heard her tiny voice, and he gave her one of his famous buck tooth grins “Of course you can!” carefully, he used his own teke to show her how to shakily hold the paintbrush, moving another small pot over to her. He demonstrated how to dip the brush in the paint and apply it to the pot before letting go and letting her go wild.
Lifting his head as another unicorn approached, Lemon grinned and quickly stole a cookie from the plate “I know these are for the kids but i can't help myself” he laughed, taking a bite. Looking over the mare, he couldn’t quite recall if he knew her or not and offered his name nonetheless “I’m Lemon,”

Aliyah was warming to the one called Lemon finally, and the focus on the little group of Moe, Lemon and the other nice unicorn drew her attention away from whatever else was going on – but she did wish her sister could see all the new friends Aliyah was making! “Of course you can!” lemon replied, his teke gently grooming her hair. Aliyah, with delight, plopped herself down beside Moe with a large grin. Aliyah’s gaze wandered over the paints – her grip loose but sure on the paintbrush. There were many small pots of colour but their were four pots of colour that drew her eye the most – the brightest purple, a sunny orange, a beautiful bright, deep blue and a burgundy colour. With a squeak of delight, she gently guided her brush into each of the colours, and globbing the large dots of colour onto the pot. She tried her best to add a few extra wiggles and weaves with other colours but it was obvious the four colours she chose were the main focus of her design. When she was done with it she grinned and looked around the crowd – Aliyah could not wait to show her family what she had made. Perhaps any who understood Aliyah to be the newborn twin daughter to Adonis and Yeshua, would recognise the bright blue and burgundy dot as her parents, and the orange and purple dots as their children.
