TwitchThe urgency in Newt's voice startled Twitch. She started back towards the Onean end of the log, but before she could scramble back down the limbs, the tree shattered. Her slick gemstone hooves pawed wildly for purchase, but found none as she was plunged into the cold water. Twitch was panicked as her thick hair dragged her under and her inexperienced limbs were useless in the water. In the back of her mind Twitch was hardly aware that Odin had taken wing and was hovering above her, screaming in that screech-owl way of his as his small talons attempted to help hold her up. A fruitless endeavor.
The situation only got worse as she began to tire and water washed into her mouth and down her throat. In the background were the calls of Cosmos, Cricket, and Kalyan. Her smaller frame rushed through the water faster than many of the larger horses, and she hoped someone would save her. She was hopelessly lost and frightened, a combination of emotions Twitch had hoped to never have to feel again. "H-Help--!" she gargled as she felt debris smash her in her free-fall.
She heard Cosmos calling from the bank, but try as she might her tired legs could hardly churn water, much less fight the current and head for the bank.

E L R O H I R Male | Consul (War-forged) | Briemian Royal
Watching with wild eyes, he saw his fellow Briem grasp onto the log as well as the twins, Elrohir started for it, legs straining against the rushing water. A small cry for help sounded behind him, somewhere within the rushing current. Head whipped around, wildly, to try to spot what he thought he had heard. A small bobbing blue hued head covered with drenched dark curls caught his vision. The equine was not fairing well with the current! Shedding what was left of his outfit, the weight only working to drag him down, Elrohir pushed weakly against the current to get to Twitch.
He watched her bob and sink, bob and sink before she seemed to go under and not come back up. A shrill shriek of his own left his throat, diving under the waves to do what he hadn't thought he could. Eyes blinked against the hazy blurry liquid, bubbles and currents obscuring his vision. It didn't help she was dark coated either. Yet, by some miracle, his shoulder connected with her own and manouvering as best he could, teke gripping onto a leg, he hauled her up over his shoulder and kicked off the stoney river bed.
They breached the surface with a mighty splash, Elrohir gasping and panting as Twitch's body threatened to drag him under as well. He was so tired now... But he couldn't give up. A rock dug into his hind end, signalling some rapids ahead and he used this to push against the rocks with coven hooves as much as he could. Just as he thought he couldn't continue, the log he had been fighting towards surged towards them and he hooked his knees over one of the large roots. "H-help..." He gasped out, unsure if the ones already on the log could see them or even get to them. He could feel twitch slipping off his back.

Kalyan
Though the pain in his leg wracked his mind, another voice called louder, jolting Kalyan's muddled thoughts back into some semblance reality. Who was that on the approaching bank? Kalyan leaned forward against the log, bracing himself with gritted teeth until the blurry form became clear and the many black spots faded from his vision. Another one of the War-forged horses was safe, and calling out to them! "Go there- Not far. " Kalyan grunted, unsure whether he was directing himself or trying to collaborate with Newt and Cricket to push the log towards safety. He expected to feel another weight against the log as Elrohir joined them, but nothing happened- Kalyan swung his head round, almost slipping off the log, and called out in a hoarse, panicked voice, "Elrohir, where are you?"
His plea was answered - the other stallion had burst from the water's churning surface, carrying one of the War-forged horses with him, and was clinging precariously to the thinning end of the log. Kalyan impulsively moved towards them, and then felt his bad shoulder wrench and scream with effort, catching him in place. For a long moment he stared at the both of them, eyes wide with fear and pain, and thought that there was nothing he could do. In that half-second his mind imagined something terrible- what would happen if he couldn't do it. And with a silent cry of frustration and a furious will to live, he managed to swing his trailing leg over the log to balance it and himself.
Ignoring the pain, ignoring the rush of water in his ears, he reached out with his teke and all the strength he could muster, and pulled against Elrohir's forelegs, to yank him awkwardly further up onto the log away from the treacherous roots. And then with a speed he could not find any other time, he grabbed for Twitch next, hoping to get her onto the log between them.
And then, to Twitch, Elrohir, Newt, and Cricket he cried, "S-swim, keep swimming! Push the log towards where he is-!" He jerked his head in Cosmos' rough direction downstream and towards the stable bank the stallion stood upon. He could say no more, feeling dizzy and instead threw his bulk against the log to show what he meant, pushing and kicking with his backlegs to direct the flow of their platform.

newt & cricket
Newt was little more than a housecat in water, and their shock and fear of being dunked back under held them from being of any real assistance. Instead, they clung to the churning log like a lifeline and attempted to pull their chest onto the surface as far as the pressuring waves would allow. They were frozen, and gasping for air, no matter how obtainable the reach was, but while panic overtook their body, Cricket's forelegs fumbled awkwardly over the wood as his neck and ears continued to swivel in search of their friend. "Twitch!!" He winnied with a heavy layer of desperation until his green eyes finally fell on the dark foreigner, and Twitch's familiar mop of messy hair. With her draped over his shoulders, Cricket wasted no time in assisting to pull the little mare farther onto the log. Reaching across shaky legs and grabbing onto the base of Twitch's drenched mane with his turquoise telekinesis was Cricket's overbearing attempt to stabilize her from slipping back under, and he jolted Newt in doing so.
Lurching forward, Newt was rocked back into reality. With their eyes wide and nostrils flaring, they didn't reach for Twitch the same way their brother did, but their hindlegs snapped back as Kaylan's voice beckoned to the water's bank, propelling them forward. And then, miraculously, they dropped a foreleg back into the river's depths as Newt's eyes singled out on the dry land ahead of them. Snorting with heavy breath, and forced adrenaline, Newt struck their legs through the current to coincide with Cricket's own movement, attempting to force the log into the shallows. And eventually, it worked.
As if powered by a team of driving horses, their make-shift raft angled itself to soon skid into the river's floor. The twins' stumbled when their hooves connected with the rocky bottom, but even when scraping a few knees, Newt's momentum to get out of the water failed to waver. Hopping awkwardly to unhook their cannon bones from the splaying wooden branches, Newt forced Cricket's telekinetic grip to crumble from Twitch's mane as they bounded through the shallows and back onto solid ground. Newt dropped their head as they found their footing, practically dragging their nose through the short grass in both thankfulness and exhaustion. While Cricket's gaze swiveled back to call out for Twitch again, his twin panted heavily, until their eyelids settled closed with relief. (401 words, post 7)

Cosmos;War-Forged | Stone Circle if you wish to move mountains tomorrow, you must start lifting stones today Cosmos' breath was held the entire time he watched the equines battle the chaos of the rushing water. He paced up and down the bank as horses from both herds darted above and below the surface as they all aimed to save each other. He was careful to make sure he didn't make the bank become as unstable as it was further up.
As the horses came closer to the bank by one way or another, Cosmos tested the strength of the bank closer to the edge. Hoping that if they came close enough, he could pull them up to safety.
Face filled with shock the Stone Circle member put his front legs into the water, resting his belly on solid ground. Thankfully as the twins came up to the bank and onto solid ground they had brought the group up closer than they thought on their makeshift transport. Reaching out he grabbed the unicorn first, pulling him close enough to the ground that his head was out of the water. Making sure he was secure, Cosmos waded out further to then grab Twitch and make sure she was secure too, then finally he handled the beefy Common horse, strongly panting by this point. As they were all flopped onto the bank. His breath caught. "Wasn't there another of you, Cave poines?" He asked out breathily. chalk by Artistic-Pineapple

Kalyan
It was working- he didn't know how and he didn't quite care. All that mattered was that the bank where Cosmos waited drew steadily nearer, as the group of strangers fought against the current, churning water beneath their hooves. He was almost overcome by exhaustion upon touching earth, the contact both soothing and draining, and gratefully accepted Cosmos' help onto the muddy shore. His limbs were trembling with effort, his left leg threatening to give out beneath him at any second. "Thank you-" The words were barely audible and within moments he sank heavily down onto the earth, enjoying its cool embrace against the searing pain of his muscles and the dull ache in his shoulder. Each breath came painfully, but gradually the tremors left him and he was able to look around and observe how the others were fairing- there were the War-forged horses, Elrohir, and- His breath caught at Cosmos' query and worry and guilt overwhelmed his fleeting relief. Where was Raja? Kalyan hadn't heard or seen him when they had fallen and wondered if he had gotten to off the tree and back onto land on time. He craned his neck round and peered towards the far side of the bank trying to spot a distant figure. "I-" He stared uncertainly at Elrohir. "I didn't see him in the water-"
He tried to stand, but his leg trembled and he sank back down, giving in to his exhaustion. The immediate danger was over, but now.. now he was somewhere far from his home, surrounded by a band of strangers, with one his own missing or out of sight. He had escaped the water, but he was aware that he was still trapped within some current, at the whim of a flow he could not see.
