Her shop was a mess. That was Starla's first inclination towards today being a not - so- great day. The black mare huffed as she started to clean up - A late night wind had pushed the door open, somehow gusting a few of her displays off of the shelves. Most pieces were fine, and could just be put back onto the shelf, but quite a few either now had scuff marks, something that the meticulous mare couldn't display. She was a master at creating her jewelry, and the slightest imperfections would lower the price she could sell them at. So to her workroom, those scuffed pieces went. Enki looked up from her bed as the pieces floated by, held in Starla's dark purple teke, the black mare following. Enki let out a low woof as Starla passed, getting up to follow her. "In a moment Enki, After I replace these on the shelves, I'll let you out." Starla hummed, smiling slightly. Getting the wolfhound was probably one of her best ideas. The pup, after all, guaranteed that she wouldn't spend all day cooped up in her workspace, and insured that Starla wouldn't neglect taking care of herself. And so, after a few minutes, Starla was standing out the back of her shop, the door open to her workroom, through which was another open door, showing the path through to the shop.

Poor Starla Bell had no idea that her mess of a shop would become even more of a mess.
Cerebina was covered nearly head to hoof in some sort of dirt and grass, and she didn't pay any mind to that as she trotted into the merchants store. She didn't seem to fussed over the fact that it was late at night, or to the fact that absolutely no one would want her muddy hooves trotting around the floor, neigh, the red mare only seemed focus on one thing. Her blue eyes glanced around the place, seemingly scrutinising and judging the interior of the humble little shop until she made her way up to the counter.
The filly was just out on a night run, making sure no sneaky foxes or cheeky wolves made their way to close to civilisation, and on her run curiosity got the better of her and she decided to stick her snout into some of the areas shops. She doesn't normally buy things for herself, but she can't say she's never been tempted by an especially sparkly necklace or a dazzling ring for her hoof...
Confused by the lack of service, she lent over the counter and, seeing that no one was there, turned her head to the open door of the workroom.
Ah. Yes. Of course. The horse thought, clomping her way over, not saying anything outloud like a regular civilian would, the shop owner must be working. Without any other thought or word she stuck her head through the door and into the room, the presence of the animal not even crossing her mind.

Starla had heard the bell hung above the front door to her shop let out its ring and whistled for Enki to come back. The wolfhound came running, and seeing the strange horse entering the workroom, started barking. Starla turned to see the dirt-covered red mare and sighed. "I'll be with you in a moment, just please don't go any further into my workplace, and preferably, go back to the shop area." She smiled slightly. But she couldn't help the trace of utter annoyance that entered her voice at the mud now tracked through her store, and into the start of her private area! Really, why would anyone just walk past a store's counter without asking? "Enki, shush." She then said, heading inside. "Now, what can I help you with?" Starla asked the red mare once the both of them were back in the shop. Enki lay down on her bed, huffing as she eyed the mare who had trespassed past the counter. Starla looked past the mare a moment and frowned at the trail of mud through her store. For goodness sakes, she hadn't even properly opened her shop yet! Anyone in Skeldr knew she didn't open until it was closer to the afternoon - When the sunlight was the best to make the gems used in her work truly shine. But... A customer in wartime, no matter how rude they may seem, was still a customer. So, with a small smile, and a slightly annoyed tone, Starla asked after the stranger's reasons for stepping into her shop.

Cerebina is a force to be reckoned with and also a force of mass Muddification. The red mare didn't seem to notice the subtle frustration of the other, and as she moved behind the counter she kept her eyes pinned to her until the wolfhound caught her eye.
"That's a big dog." she said dimly, in a monotonous voice. She didn't look away from the dog for a moment before looking at Starla. "I'm looking for some jewellery," she stated bluntly, making eye contact with the mare again and pinning her gaze onto her braids. Braids sure do look tough to keep.
"I'd like to get something nice for my father. Your stuff is."
Pause.
"Nice."
Cerebina didn't give off any physical cues of awkwardness, she stood firm and made unnecessary eye contact but she wasn't cringing back or stumbling over her words, yet her delivery was incredibly stiff. You could probably knock your hoof onto the mares head and hear the echo in her skull.

Starla's ears pinned back as she realized how difficult putting up with this mare would be. Aside from all the mud, and her being a complete stranger, it was clear that the red mare wasn't from Skeldr, as Starla had never met anyone in the town with such an awkward, and not to mention rude, way of speaking... It was also obvious to Starla, that the red mare had little experience with social interactions with others. All the eye contact she made and her utter stiffness gave Starla this impression. So, Starla sighed. "Very well then. Is there anything specific you'd like to get him then?" Starla articulated, huffing slightly. "If not, I would suggest something with Jade, Garnets, or Topaz. These three gems are thought to have protective properties." She explained, pulling out of a box a few collars, featuring combinations of those gems, and a few others, in arrays of gold, silver, and platinum. This box had been sitting beside the showcase counter, full of different pieces and a couple statues. "Well?" Starla prompted, looking at the red mare.

Cerebina didn't really know much about jewels, or social interaction, or most things. And starla was right, she was pretty awkward. She tilted her head to the side as she looked down at the sparkling gems. They're beautiful... And she never had anything like these before. Sure she had seen jewelry, but these one looked more unique. It might have just been that she hadn't seen to many varieties of the craft since coming to Skeldr.
"Ah." she said, pretty much as soon as the gems were shown, pinning her ears back as she was prompted to make up her mind faster. She wasn't too sure what her father would like. Did the gems have to match his coat?
Maybe he'd like the jade, it'd match his Telekinesis well.
"I think I'll take the... Jade one?" she asked, crinkling her nose. "I'm sorry, I've never really had to make the decision..."

Starla hummed. "Alright then. That'll be 100 shards, then." She put the other collars away, leaving the one that was primarily jade out. "Will that be all?" Starla asked, hoping it would be. She needed to clean her shop again. And that means today, well, she's already lost her work time. So interruptions will abound later in the day when she tries to work on new pieces while the stores open. But it's better she be interrupted than customers meeting a messy store. While Starla wasn't keen on rushing customers normally, this mare had barged in before her shop had opened! While Starla still helped the red mare, she was certainly not happy with the state of the shop, or the mares manners... After she cleaned her shop, she may have to visit Taend's tavern for some tea... No ale though, you can't get drunk when you've still got to open your shop for the day. Although Kaia only knew how few customers she actually got, especially with the war now. That's why Starla didn't turn away this red mare... Who knew when she'd have another customer. WC: 187 Post 4
