Standing at the entrance to the palace got boring after the first few minutes. Faris, in all honesty didn't know what he was doing. Given a bit of down time in a busy schedule that wasn't at the end of the day felt almost wrong. And his only solution when such wrong thing occurred was to stand around and wait for the world to hand him something to do, as if it worked that way. It seemed to be proving futile, as the minutes ticked by and the world refused to send something or someone interesting in his life, to the palace steps.
He didn't really feel like going to get someone to drag out into the streets, just so he could go see the city in his boredom, and he wasn't going to leave the palace without another. So there he stood, in his current state.
But next, by what Faris would deem a miracle (even though it really wasn't, he was dating the daughter of the late emperor), when Mirko was within sight of the palace, the conparis left his watch in almost a giddy, childish glee that 100% looked wrong on his face. He mastered the expression by the time he got to the guardian, but his excitement spread to his voice instead. It didn't stop him from acting as if his world had just been saved by the stallion, when it truly was only his boredom. "Mirko," his voice boomed, the enthusiasm he normally kept a bit at bay, showing through with the budding comfort he felt around the horse, "just the horse I was looking for!"
Without waiting for any response or reaction, Faris started to walk away, his voice more than loud enough to echo over to Mirko, "come on, I have a mission for you."

MIRKO Talori Guardian Post 1 | 316w It'd been an otherwise quiet and pleasant day on patrol, the young stallion trotting by the palace on his way home after work. He wondered if, for some reason, Cassandra was home at all, if she'd come to town and just hadn't dropped by yet, but... his mismatched gaze flicked up towards the large building as he passed, and he paused, taking in the sight. A small sigh parted his lips, and he was taking a few steps towards it before he could really think about what he was doing. Surely she wasn't here, and it would only hurt more to get in there and leave empty-hooved, but wasn't it worth a shot?
After a few paces forward, Mirko paused again at the call of his name, and took a small step back as another horse galloped towards him, a childlike excitement lighting up his otherwise regal features. "Faris?" he questioned, brow furrowing. He was rather used to the odd mannerisms of the conparis, but seeing him so openly happy and running about was still a bit much for the guardian to handle. Faris continued trotting just past him, but was clearly speaking to him, so Mirko hesitated only a second, glancing back to the castle, before he turned and trotted after his friend (?).
"A mission?" the younger male echoed once he was caught up, shooting a questioning look to the shorter horse. He had just gotten off work, and for anyone else, he'd probably refuse, but Faris was already ushering him away, and had caught his interest- and, really, it wasn't like he had anything better to do. "Er... what kind of mission? Is it dangerous?" He spared a glance to the breast plate adorned on his chest, still in place after finishing his patrol, and the dagger strapped to his side- at least if it was something serious, he was a little bit prepared.

He heard his name pass the Guardian's lips, but it did little to slow his pace. Throwing a smile over his shoulder at Mirko, he just gestured to follow and continued on, but slightly slowed down so that Mirko would have time to catch up.
Honestly, he had no idea what he was doing, where he was going, or what the mission he'd made up on the spot a second ago, even was, but he didn't care. He was feeling extra jolly, perhaps a bit dramatic and more than a tad mischievous, and Mirko was to be the victim of his light-hearted meddling. There wasn't anyone else he'd dare to meddle with, at this stage and Mirko - a bit too serious sometimes, probably wouldn't hate him for such a thing, to put it lightly. Which was enough for the Conparis.
The question posed at him, that was what stalled him for a second. He looked surprised by the question, probably unfounded, but he mastered his expression pretty quickly. By then, Mirko was at his side, and he gave him a smile that bordered sly and mischievous. "For Thalassa," he said, off the tip of his tongue. The rest took a moment, as he tried to think of an excuse. His spouse's name was the first thing that came to mind, that made sense. Mirko would probably want to please the Empress, at the very least. His dutiful nature was easy to con, if he wished. And of course, he did. "She, well - I think she needed something new to spice up her room, but I can't figure out exactly what. I need your help - of a Talorian eye, to help me with this." His smile was almost unbelievable, "it's very important, I think it would make her happy."

MIRKO Talori Guardian Post 2 | 296w His suspicions raised a hair when Faris didn't immediately respond, but, as the older male quickly recovered, Mirko let it slide, his gaze shooting ahead of them as he kept an eye out for any suspicious behavior. Thalassa? The empress had a mission for them? The guardian gave his companion a skeptical side glance, his grimace evident as Faris continued speaking, but he remained quiet, allowing the explanation to continue, despite his better judgment. "So, you made this mission up?" he finally questioned, the words coming out more like an accusation than a genuine inquiry. Though, he supposed the conparis' reasoning made sense. While Mirko wasn't exactly the prime example of what was beautiful about Talori, he at least knew their culture by heart- a lot better than some foreigner would, anyway, and Faris was little more than that. And, while he figured the castle probably had its own decor crew, Mirko couldn't necessarily put it past his companion to want to get something for the empress- he was her husband, after all.
Allowing a small smile to pass his lips, the younger stallion carried forward, resigned to this new "mission" he'd been tasked with, and shook his head. "Alright, well, what does she like?" he mused, sticking closer to Faris now that they'd ventured further into a more crowded part of the city. He trusted his herd, but, after the past year's events, wouldn't put it past anyone to try something with the new conparis. If he hadn't literally been training for this sort of thing his whole life, Mirko figured he would be nervous, escorting a member of the new royal family around town on his own- but his eyes never stopped scanning the crowd, confident as he looked for any sign of trouble.

Faris only hesitated for a second at the accusation, his smile making it’s way back onto his lips after being wiped off momentarily. He wasn’t best friends with Mirko, but he was at least friendly enough to know he wasn’t a moron. Perhaps a bit too serious and addicted to work (something that Faris would work on, least for when Mirko wasn’t working), but not brainless. Which was a good sign. After his false, obvious ruse being broken, his behaviour didn’t change, he kept walking, a smile thrown over his shoulder to Mirko’s direction. “100%, made up as it can be.” Faris flicked his tail feathers, amusement bubbling in his throat to a laugh. “I was given some time, so I’m working on the fly to fill it.” His eyes sparkled with a bit of mischief as stared at Mirko longer. “Hope you don’t mind,” he said with some compassion, despite the fact he didn’t stop or wait for an answer to the statement.
His lack of concern for Mirko’s ‘forced’ participation, and him stringing him along was probably caused how Mirko willingly tagged along, even smiling and asking about his thoughts. He looked far from upset, which gave Faris little reason to sit and feel bad. Plus, his joy couldn’t be settled quite that easily, right now. “I’m not sure,” he admitted pretty quickly. He took a bit longer before he continued. He was married to Thalassa, but it was all political for now. They were both very busy, with their own roles to play, especially as they were still fresh in their titles. As time passed, they’d probably actually have more time to get to know each other, but he was still a bit at loss. “Something not superficial, a bit of a congratulations for her rank. Something nice but not too much,” he spoke, himself drawing to a blank. There was both so much and so little that fit. But he had no idea what was available in Talori. “I’m kinda hoping it will just show itself to me and I know? As if it works that way.”

MIRKO Talori Guardian Post 3 | 359w He'd mostly expected Faris to continue his ruse even after being accused of fraud, so, when the older male blatantly admitted the truth, Mirko looked at him in surprise. A mission was a mission, he supposed, but the conparis... he was just so weird. Every time Mirko thought he understood him, Faris proved him wrong, confusing him more and more every time. Sure, it'd probably been his mistake to assume that anyone from a hippie herd like Serora could be taken seriously, but Faris was something else. When the other stallion finally glanced his way, Mirko simply stared back, still figuring out how to properly react, then shook his head and resumed his prior observations of their surroundings. This pegasus wasn't one to be figured out in just a few meetings, for sure, and the younger male wondered if he should adopt the phrase 'expect the unexpected' whenever interacting with him.
Faris' lack of idea for what to get his wife came as less of a surprise. While Mirko had previously thought it odd that you could get married and know next to nothing about your spouse, he learned that not everyone had the luxury of falling in love before being bound in matrimony. If his parents had been wealthier, of a higher class, he had little doubt they would've married him off to some rich she-pony, and he grimaced at the thought. Granted, it wasn't the exact scenario of what had happened between Faris and Thalassa, but it was close enough, so he couldn't blame the conparis for needing some help with something like this. "Flowers come to mind, but I suppose you'd want something more full of meaning than that?" he offered, mind flashing to Kingston. That pegasus would know better than anyone just what to give to the empress, but he had a feeling that would be considered too thoughtless of a gesture at a time like this. Flowers were usually overdone, and Faris wanted something more Talori-themed than anything. "I do know a florist, if it comes to that, otherwise, we can just head for the local merchants, and see what wares they've got today."

Faris took full liberties in the moment, not bothering to hide his current emotions and joy. Head up high, smile shining, he kept an eye on Mirko. Perhaps it was a bit silly to say he felt a bit protective of the Guardian, but it wasn’t an understatement. He’d spent years of his life looking after his sister and being her father figure, more than any. He naturally figured he’d just picked up the attitude anywhere and sort of willingly took the role of anyone who needed it. It was silly to be a bit protective of a Guardian, as the Conparis; but for Mirko and Cassie, it was there. And that was probably more than a little cause of his current tone, happy and ready to meddle because he could. He trusted Mirko enough not to be too offended by it and it was true.
He frowned at the suggestion of flowers, tilting his head back and forth debating it . He did agree that it was lacking some meaning, but, “flowers are a good place to start,” he replied. He could look out for the ‘something more,’ along the way. At least it would give them a point to start looking and it was more than he had now. “Take me to the friend of yours, it is!” he said dramatically. He had to close his wings and muster a more level tone after that, smiling a bit lighter, “we’ll browse if nothing there stand out. Or I’ll just pick out more than one thing. We’ll see.” It was getting to a ramble, but he didn’t try to quell it. Instead he went silent, trotting along happily, waiting to see where things would take them. Hopefully Alya would help lead the way and make it a bit easier, if not, he was perfectly fine with winging it.

MIRKO Talori Guardian Post 4 | 341w Faris' overwhelming enthusiasm got Mirko the closest to laughing he'd been in a while, a small smile dancing on his lips as he shook his head and turned his mixed gaze away from the conparis. Even if he didn't understand the feathered stallion at all, Mirko could at least appreciate his positive attitude. He hadn't seen anyone this pumped about anything in half a year, but Faris was like this about... well, everything. It peaked the younger stallion's curiosity, wondering what Faris had been like growing up, what he'd experienced, and what got him to where he was today, what had led him to Talori, of all places. It wasn't his place to ask, though, and he resigned himself to wait and see if the other ever opened up about his history- maybe then, Mirko would do the same.
For now, the brown-and-white horse gently shouldered his companion to get him to pause for a passing cart, then followed his orders, leading the way around a corner and down a few streets to get to Kingston's shop. It'd been a little while since he'd seen his friend, and, even if Faris didn't find anything he liked, at least they would get to catch up. He personally didn't have much to talk about, but the pegasus always seemed to have something going on, and Mirko smiled a little at the thought. It was nice having friends, he figured, of all different shapes and sizes, and he chanced another glance at Faris- did he consider the old man a friend? He was a superior of sorts, but did that hinder it? For Cascade's sake, they were shopping for flowers right now- that didn't really seem like something not-friends did. Realizing he'd been staring too long, though, the guardian cleared his throat and faced forward again, slowing to a stop as they trotted up to the quaint little shop.
"We're here," he announced, shifting just a bit closer to the door and grasping the handle with his teke, allowing Faris to go in first.

......
A soft smile settled on his face as he trotted after Mirko and wherever he planned to lead him. A frown threatened to tickle his forehead, but he didn’t let it sit there, chuckling lightly to himself over nothing. Normally he was either ok with silence, or it killed him. It depended on the situation or his company - sometimes silence felt threatening. Not in that way - but like it was wasting precious time and chances to conversations with someone he enjoyed the company with. Sometimes it was just comfortable to not say anything either. He’d had 14 years with his sister, but at the moment, he wish he’d still got to talk to her a bit more - but she wasn’t dead, and it had been a sacrifice he’d been willing to make. She was safe, but right now the silence he’d had felt like a waste. But he didn’t mind Mirko keeping his thoughts to himself. Maybe one day, when they weren’t on a crowded street, he’d pry for his thoughts, but he didn’t really care right now, it wasn’t uncomfortable to just let the silence talk.
He followed the other’s directions, not batting an eye as they had to move for traffic on the street. But soon enough it seemed like their walk came to an end as Mirko called their place. Faris took a moment to look up at the sign, smile at the name of the place, before shaking his head and moving in with Mirko’s invitation. He muttered a soft thank you as he entered.
Immediately, the smell of flowers wafted over him, a mix of a few. He couldn’t name them all - but mint and lilacs were some of the ones he could pick out immediately. It made him relax with the fresh smell. His gaze turned around him, as he trotted a bit deeper into the shop, allowing room around him for Mirko to navigate and enter too. Immediately, he trotted over to some of plants near the entrance that caught his eye from the bright colours of their flowers. They all looked well cared for, carefully trimmed and loved.
He turned his head when he heard a voice - male, by the sounds of it. Softer and shier. He flicked his tail, turning back to take a few more steps and browse the shelves as he heard the agriculturalist mention Mirko’s name first, in a mild shock, that seemed to be waved over quickly.
Faris turned his head again after the bright colours seemed a bit less interesting than the strangers voice; the shop owner seemed to be staring at him with a deep frown, while speaking to Mirko. “What can I help you with?” His voice wavered for a second, gaze turning away to look at Mirko. And then his head snapped back towards Faris as if he suddenly was stuck by an unvoiced thought.
Faris just watched as a pot somehow fell to the ground off a shelf, shattering closer to the owner’s foot, than theres. He gave a smile, holding in his chuckle. He was about to speak, but he lost his thoughts and remarks at the other horse’s, “Sorry!” Which, sounded more like a squeak than a clear word. He looked away, ignoring any looks at Mirko that he was sure King was throwing his way.
He trotted away, to a further shelf, briefly listening as he heard the owner quickly clean up the broken pottery at his feet. He waited until the sound stopped to look back their way and break the ice, “hey, I’m just looking around for anything - I’m not sure yet, Mirko just lead me here, got any recommendations?”
With the prompt, they seemed to shuffle onwards, quickly slipping into a totally different tone that Faris tuned out for just as second to look away. At King’s back, Faris gave Mirko a look, the faintest amused, yet confused glance in his expression.

MIRKO Talori Guardian Post 5 | 444w Mirko twitched his ears at Faris' thanks, giving an appreciative nod as he followed the other into the store. Something about Kingston's shop made him relax and feel at home, perhaps because it reminded him of his own yard. King cared deeply for his plants, and, even if he hadn't been raised by two agriculturalists, the guardian liked to think he (or anyone else who stepped hoof into the little place) would be able to tell right away how much love and care went into each flower. It was impressive, to say the least, and he could tell by the look on his companion's face that Faris understood, as well. He followed the pegasus further into the shop, not hovering as much as before now that they were all but alone- the sound of another approaching caught his attention, and the stallion turned to greet his friend. He opened his mouth to speak, then waited, letting Kingston go back and forth between the two of them before- yep- finally knocking something over.
"I really should not have expected anything less," Mirko mused, briefly glancing at the conparis to make sure he hadn't been somehow hurt by the broken pot, then turning back to his other friend to try and help him clean up. It hadn't registered to him at first, but, knowing how eccentric he was when it came to anyone remotely higher up than him on the list, he could only quietly apologize for not forewarning the hippocampus about Faris' arrival.
Wait... hippocampus? What?
Again, he moved to speak, but found himself without words. What was there to say? One day Kingston had feathers, and now he had... tentacles? No, what the actual-
"I-" Mirko cut himself off again, shaking his head and looking hopelessly to Faris as the conparis asked Kingston for his recommendations. He met the pegasus' bemused gaze with his own deeply concerned one, brow deeply furrowed. He couldn't look away this time, now fearful that if he took his eyes off of Faris for more than a minute, he'd look back and find the older male with fins. What in Cascade's name was going on?
"Er," he tried again, briefly looking to King before moving closer to Faris, trying to calm his nerves. "I, uh, personally thought daffodils might be nice, King, but that's just an idea-" he offered, not sure if he was being rude by being so openly uncomfortable, but he didn't want to just address this in front of someone else. He'd have to speak to Kingston in private later- Faris was his top priority at the moment, but that didn't make him any less spooked.

Faris looked back at Mirko as he spoke, listening to his friends words with interest. But the frown he’d held off on the way there was now full front on his face. He had no idea why, but Mirko seemed to be stumbling all over himself. Instinctively Faris stopped, looking over his own shoulder, seeing if anything was out of place, “what’s wrong? Is there a spider on my back?” he half joked.
Faris looked at him with real concern as the stallion tried bis best to move on the conversation. Faris then looked at King - their name, he remarked from Mirko - who seemed just as confused. But then a second later, after glancing at himself, he seemed to understand. He only shot Mirko a sympathetic smile that confused Faris even more.
He felt a bit unsettled by how nervous and confused Mirko looked, a frown on his face deepening as Mirko seemed to stare at King. But the longer he stared, the less menacing the Hippocampus looked. The only think that stood out to him was - the scars on his back… Matching ones. He frowned a bit at that. Of course he’d heard stories, but he didn’t jump to conclusions. But it made no sense with the rest of him if he’d had wings to cut off, unless he was a hybrid or something - even though those were almost unheard of.
So he just broke the tension, laughing with a deep laugh that he’d long past masted by now. “Daffodils, eh?” Faris smiled at Mirko. He gently nudged him, trying to shake some of his company’s nerves, whatever they were from. “I can for sure see that - hey King, got any mixed flowers with them in it?” And just as simple as that, King seemed totally distracted, which left Faris enough time to give Mirko another questioning glance.

MIRKO Talori Guardian Post 6 | 289w Faris' joke did little to settle his nerves, but being closer to the other stallion helped him some, and Mirko briefly closed his eyes and took a deep breath to steady himself. Whatever had happened with Kingston clearly hadn't troubled him too much if he was still outwardly his same old self, enough to wear Mirko hadn't even noticed until he'd really looked at his friend for more than a second, so it wasn't something he needed to worry about. Sure, as a guardian, it was definitely his business if civilians were randomly turning into hippocampi, and Faris, as a non-hippocampus and the empress' husband, deserved an explanation, too, but... it wasn't something that needed to be dealt with now, so he reserved himself to the task at hand.
Flowers. Right.
Regaining his focus, the brown-and-white male felt himself relax when Faris bumped his shoulder, and he was thankful for the weird connection that lay between them. So he offered Kingston a smile, finally, though his gaze still held the million questions he kept inside, and, as the former pegasus resumed his work, Mirko looked down at Faris once more. With no answer to give the other stallion, he simply shook his head, indicating they could talk about it later, but- after a moment's hesitation- nudged him back, a sign of his comfort returning. "My parents are agriculturalists. They know a lot about flowers, so I retained some of that, but Kingston here knows plenty more than them and myself combined, I'm sure. I think daffodils have the kind of meaning you're going for, but I could be wrong." He laughed quietly at the end, a little out of embarrassment, not really used to speaking so much at once.

Faris felt his eyes travel around everyone in the shop, but he didn’t let the smile slip. At one point with eye contact with Mirko, he raised an eyebrow questionably, giving it another shot. But he didn’t say anything. Mirko did seem to relax a bit with humour. Which was a good sign; he had no idea what was even going on anymore. He was lost to Alya’s wind. But that wasn’t anything new; he was just gonna sit back and enjoy the outing instead, even if it got a little weird for whatever reason. As long as Mirko could relax, then he was fine.
Faris kept a steady gaze on Mirko, his knitted eyebrows slowly raising higher as he spoke. His smile softened into something filled with fondness. He knew what he was talking about, it seemed. Which was good. Two who knew flowers was better for him.
He gave a soft nod to Mirko after he finished speaking, looking at Kingston for confirmation behind the words. He only nodded with his own silent smile. After a second, Kingston almost ran off, coming back with a different few flowers with him as well. “Here,” the hippocampus started, “Daffodils, like Mirko said - Gerbera Daisies for beauty and Alstroemeria for devotion and friendship, that work?” Kingston seemed unsure.
Fairs took no time to laugh at both of them, smiling. “Yes, perfect,” his eyes looked back towards Mirko, before looking back at the flowers. There was far more yellow than of the other plants; just a few extra colours that added some life. And within a second, Faris was handing money to King who seemed quick to carefully package the things up. Faris took a glance to wink playfully at Mirko, laughing softly. He had no idea what he was doing, from the start of this interaction, to now, but that was half the fun.

MIRKO Talori Guardian Post 7 | 306w Mirko nodded along with the suggestions Kingston made, a smile set on his face as he watched the florist go about his work to make a beautiful bouquet. The hippocampus really was talented and very skilled at what he did, and he couldn't imagine his friend in any other role. Most of his friends seemed to be rather abrasive in nature- Orisa the most of all, and Cassandra even had her moments- so it was nice to have someone so gentle to talk to on occasion. A glance at Faris reminded him that this unlikely companion was rather calm as well, though he'd been a bit more exuberant today- maybe a result of being cooped up in the castle all the time? He didn't take the time to question it; Faris was a good horse, a nice friend, and someone he respected without thinking.
As the exchange was finalized, the guardian bid farewell to Kingston, promising to come and visit again soon (something he needed to do, because he still wasn't over the whole no-more-feathers thing), and once again held the door open for the conparis as they left. He flanked Faris at a fairly close distance, enjoying the presence of someone who still definitely had feathers, and, as they moved further from the shop, dropped his voice to reveal what had caught him off guard at the beginning. "The last time I saw Kingston," he murmured, sparing another quick look over his shoulder at the store, "Well, he removed his wings a long time ago, but he was a pegasus, no doubt. I... had no idea that was possible." His mixed gaze moved back to Faris, then, traveling over the shorter stallion's body, as if questioning his validity as a pegasus. "Have you heard of such a thing before? Certainly I'm not crazy, am I?"

Faris kept a close gaze on Mirko as they said goodbye and he took his flowers and they left the store. His brows furrowed, as he waited for something to be said - just a bit. Mirko was for sure acting weird, he had to have known it. Even if Kingston seemingly missed it in the first place, as far as he could tell, he didn't.
Just like he assumed, Mirko was quick to spill what was on his mind, without any prompting from himself - which made it much easier for Faris. He remained silent as Mirko spoke on, maybe ruffling his feathers or raising an eyebrow that he wasn't aware of. For the most part, he was just quiet - staring at Mirko long after he finished.
He could have assumed - he partly did, but didn't like asuming at all, that Kingston had wings before, based on those scars. But it seemed like Mirko had a totally different story for him.
He seemed to hold the silence before, frowning. He flicked his tail, for a second more, before breaking out into a soft smile. "Wasn't Eve a Hippocampus before?" He frowned briefly before re-adjusting his wings. "I haven't really seen it - but there has to be some cases - right? Clearly." He didn't assume Mirko was pulling his leg. His shock was too real. "Maybe the gods really do like to meddle," he laughed lightly, still a bit unsure. Perhaps it was a bit different case here - at least in Talori; Eve became a sin in their eyes, Kingston would have been blessed.
"And you're not crazy, for sure no -" he gave a cheeky smile, "least not over that. Unless we both are."

MIRKO Talori Guardian Post 8 | 371w Faris' silence was one he welcomed. Not that he thought the conparis spoke too much (by all means, Mirko greatly appreciated his talkative nature, as it complimented his taciturn one quite well), but it seemed that he usually had something good to say after an extended pause, and this time was no different. The younger stallion looked away and smiled at Faris' point- admittedly, he didn't think about Eve too much, and her sudden sprouting of wings had failed to cross his mind, perhaps because he had been too focused on one losing feathers, rather than acquiring them. He laughed, gently, his mismatched gaze falling back to the pegasus beside him, and nodded.
"You have a point," he mused, letting out a deep sigh. The pressure on his shoulders felt lighter, now, and he couldn't help but scoff when he really thought about how odd (yet apparently normal) the situation was. "I think most of us don't really verbalize how much the gods factor into our lives, but..." Mirko trailed off, thinking of his own meeting with Cascade, not long ago, and his smile widened. "Maybe they're around more than we think."
Faris' last comment made him laugh, and the guardian quickly pressed against the conparis to bring them both to a pause once more as a couple of colts whizzed by, stepping away when the coast was clear. "We probably are," he chuckled, "Crazy, I mean." Inevitably, his mind wandered, and he gave the pegasus a curious glance, a grin on his face. "What would you do, then, if one of the gods came down and took away your wings? If they gave you horns, or fins?" His smile then faltered a bit- Eve's makeover had been a punishment, hadn't it? Surely Kingston's couldn't be, though, so... was it a reward? It made sense, Cascade was all the dude talked about, but- looking at Faris, Mirko was sure he had his answer. No god in their right mind would take the wings of the stallion beside him, unless they wanted a fight- and Mirko would bet everything he had on his friend's victory.
"Did you want to keep shopping?" he offered instead, glancing at the bouquet before looking forward again.

Faris let a grin slip onto his lips, raising his head, somewhat dramatically. “I always have a point,” he ruffled his wings, grin smirking. His keen eyes didn’t dim, as he saw Mirko seem to shift attitudes, just a bit; he seemed to lighten and look a bit more confident. Good. Exactly what he wanted to see.
Faris gave a light chuckle and raised an eyebrow at the mention of the gods and their meddling. “Honestly? I can only say the opposite about the gods.” He laughed lightly again and lowered his head, just a bit. It was a habit he’d picked up, now it made it’s way into his words, most days. “The amount I hear about the gods meddling in everyone’s lives is outrageous.” He chuckled softly, “someone will see it’s sunny out and say they’re blessed by Cascade.” He twitched his tail as if it amused him.
He looked happy again, enthusiasm brought back up as the conversation turned from heavy, serious, to less so. Stuff he could play around. But he paused at Mirko’s question, eyebrows furrowing. His lips pursed. “The only way I’m getting rid of my wings is on my death-bed. I’d have some angry words for a god or two if they went and switched them around with me.” By the end, his grin was back, an airy echo in his voice. He’d grown to love the water very quickly in Talori, after being Starved in Serora; being a Hippocampus was a nice thought, but he was proud to be a Pegasus through and through. A nice thought was much different than an already happy reality.
He hummed at the last question, moving his head from side to side, debating the question. “For today, I should probably be making my way back, sadly. My free time was limited in the first place. I think someone’s gonna notice my absence.” He gave a dramatic sigh, raising his head, once again taking off happily, for Mirko to come after. “Come on - also, promise me, you’ll take me shopping again soon; I need reasons to spoil a few horses in my life.” He gave a cheeky wink over his shoulder, gesturing just a bit with a wing, for him to follow.
