V Vindicator Solider
......
The day opened as normal. V, in the kitchen. The mule was cooking for the day ahead. And their attention was...mostly divided. Their purple teke was weaving their hair into their usual braids, while they observed potatoes being chopped and a pot filling with water. Rotten vegetables had been made into stock, and was ready to enter the pot. Seasonings and ingredients scattered the counters as V set the pot on the stove, lighting the fire inside with the supply of matches received from the last raid on Valore. Normally, they didn't get the luxury, but today was a rather nice day for them.
With a soft snort, V began stockpiling the ingredients as the water simmered. Everything was slid inside, filling the air with the scent, before V slapped on a lid to let it cook on its own. They lifted their cup of tea, taking a massive gulp. They were out of coffee. V smacked their lips, setting the cup back down as their last braid was tied and slung over their back. It was a well established routine at this point.
With a quick and easy step, the mule paced the kitchen, wondering what to cook next. The stew wouldn't be ready for a few hours. They didn't feel like reading. Leaving the kitchen only posed danger, via horses sneaking into their kitchen and messing with their stuff. After a moment, they stopped, flicking one long ear, before deciding.
Today felt like a dessert day. Cookies it was.

Verun| Vindicator| Cadet
Verun skipped around the bunker, the bag on her side jingling with the clinking of the throwing knives, after a long morning of chores, and practicing with her new throwing knives that she found in one of the last supply raids from Valore. Found being the key word there, as she was pretty sure that she wasn't supposed to be scrounging around that box until after the soldiers gone though them. But they were there, as was Verun, and Verun really wanted them and now she had them. Made sense to her. But now, chores and practice was done, she and a few of the other cadets managed to convince (read: pestered) someone to read everyone a bedtime story out of the book tonight, and all Verun really wanted to do now was just play around, and eat. And what better place to do both than in the kitchen with V, who was the best cook ever, in Verun's opinion.
Verun peaked into the door that separated the kitchen from the rest of the bunker and smiled widely as she saw V working on some cooking thing over a pot, which normally meant stew. Normally. Verun wasn't really any good with the whole cooking thing.
"V!" She called out, once she was fully in the kitchen, smile now plastered on Verun's face. "Need any help making food? I've been told before that I'm a pretty good taste taster, and that's the hardest part!"

Donnacha Vindicator Soldier
Donnacha had just finished harvesting firewood, and returned home with his saddlebags full of it - and other things that he had found in the wooods. Well, maybe not found, but he didn't think anyone would miss them, it was their fault if they left them lying outside. Dumping his wood on the pile, he turned down one of the tunnels by random choice - he had no clue what he was doing next, but someone would get him chores to do at some point.
It turned out the tunnel he had chosen lead to the kitchen. Donnacha stopped and chuckled, listening to Verun's request, and trying not to look like he was eavesdropping- which he was anyway.. "Uh oh, V, you might want to give the girl what she wants, or else she'll throw a couple of knives at you. I saw her practicing and I don't think she'll miss her target." he commented. In truth, he wasn't sure if the knife-throwing five year old would reallly do that, but she definitely terrified him, and he wanted to stay on the safe side of her for now. Donnacha wondered if he had a chance of nicking anything from the kitchen - probably not, now that V had seen him - but perhaps it was worth hanging around for a bit.

ADARI Vindicator Specialist
Adari had come in from patrols hungry and tired. She had had a long shift, moving into and out of the shadows, and the tiredness in her bones made it difficult to look forward to training the Cadets under her tutelage. Her stomach growled, voicing its displeasure at her forgetting to eat before her shift. She followed the smell of food to the kitchen, hoping she would soon find something to fill her rumbling belly. Upon entering, she saw V, the culinary genius, and Donnacha, one of the Vindicators present in her reading lessons. "How are you today, Donnacha? Reading going well?"Adari watched the kitchen, wondering if she could grab anything behind V's back. She was a spy, after all, one of the best in the Vindicators. However, she knew when to pick her battles, and V would not appreciate a Vindicator taking more than her fair share, even if she was hungry. She turned instead to Verun, who had taken the throwing knives that Adari had had her eyes on. She could tell by the clinking in the filly's bag, she had already noticed the knives' near-perfect heft and weight when the group had retrieved them and could tell the kind of noise they would make. "Verun, you wouldn't happen to know what happened to the new set of throwing knives, would you?" She raised an eyebrow, setting her face into one of steady knowing, her eyes resting on the filly's bag for a few seconds, then lifting back to her face. "I was hoping to replace my current set for my next mission. If someone was willing to trade those knives for my old ones, perhaps I could throw in a few lessons from the Vindicators' best in return."
Adari fought hard to keep a half-smile from appearing on her face. She was quite fond of all of the Cadets, but Verun's spunk reminded her of her oldest daughter, left behind in New Valore. If she could prevent another spark from falling into slavers' chains, she would do whatever she could. But she still wanted those shiny throwing knives. Post #1 Words: 353

V Vindicator Solider
......
The mule’s large ears lifted, twisting towards the door. V looked up from their work, face softening, then immediately going back to its vaguely annoyed mask at the appearance of Donnacha.
“Verun. Donnacha.” V intoned in their normal, monotone voice. Their braid slapped heavily against the ground in annoyance, lip giving an irritated curl.
“I don't believe it's your place to tell me who should get what, considering I am attempting to feed all of you.” They would never admit it aloud, but, very calmly, their purple aura plucked a jar from the cabinet above them, opening the lid and pulling out a cookie. They handed it over to the child, a quirk to their lips.
“Just one. Don't want to ruin your appetite for dinner. It's a new recipe.” With that, purple and gold snapped to the appearance of someone else in their kitchen. Internally, they groaned, ears flicking back to fold haphazardly against their neck.
“It appears anyone and everyone is off of work today. Especially since apparently my kitchen is the premiere hangout spot.” They drawled in an unamused fashion. The mule cook was notoriously short with anyone besides the children (and a select few others that V would never, ever name aloud), and their patience was already going up in smoke. They sighed deeply, telekenetically pinching the bridge of their snout in an annoyed fashion.

ADARIVindicator Specialist My apologies, V, said Adari. I just returned from patrol and wanted to see if I could offer my help. I do have some experience in the kitchen from my days in New Valore.
She had, indeed, often cooking and caring for her master's children after she had had her own. She hadn't minded it, and had gotten fairly good at it during her years as a slave, but had preferred the more exciting work as a spy for a movement she believed in. But cooking still grounded her, letting her process thoughts while creating a new dish to share with others.
I didn't mean to upset you, V. If you wish, I will leave and rest for your surely delicious dinner later this evening prior to my next patrol.

Donnacha
Vindicator Soldier
Adari was clearly trying to be polite to V, but Donnacha simply wasn't experienced in being polite to others. Instead, a slight smirk appeared on his face, and he replied to V, "Ah, poor V, you've no self-esteem, do you?" His eyes followed the cookie that was being handed to Verun, "Honestly, this is the best place down here. You've got a a big hole, a ton of tiny tunnels and some more rooms inside the hole, and then the kitchen... Plus, cookies is a bonus?" He continued hopefully - although he knew the only chance of getting something from V would be if they left the ktichen or if he somehow managed to steal one.
