Ouusaldus Is there so much hate for the ones we love? Tell me, we both matter, don't we?
x | x Inhaling slowly, Ouusaldus took a moment to appreciate the coolness that usually came with fog. It soothed his irritable lungs and washed over his coat as he slowly walked through the thick valley forest. It was cool now, but Ouusaldus knew that the warm summer afternoon would soon be chasing after the vial of fog and turn it into an unbearable smog that would leave even the most weathered souls seeking shadows and cool caves.
But for now it was nice, and as Ouusaldus made his way to the meeting spot he enjoyed the feeling and sight of scattering the mist with every step, droplets of water rolling off his wings.
In all honesty, he was really just trying to distract himself, kicking his legs out and spreading his wings, acting almost like a foal again. But he was alone for now and the forest was quiet and he desperately needed something to distract him from the ever forming knot in his stomach. He was going to do it today, going to meet with Aisling and ask her if she wanted to perhaps go on a few dates with him. He was thirty-eight years old and was acting like a fumbling teenager.
But that’s just what Aisling did to him. They had been friends first, Ouusaldus making it his duty to make sure that she settled in well, found her groove. He barely knew what she had been through when he found her, still barely knew anything about her past life. But that was okay; he didn't pry her and she didn't pry him. Slowly though, she had gained ahold of his heart and he knew he cared for her more than just a friend. He had had lovers before, had shared a bed with someone and had left in the morning before anything could be made of it (of course he’d had a few times where it was he who was alone in the morning) But this was different, worlds different.
Sighing deeply, Ouusaldus’ teke absently found its way into his scarf, cradling the heavy golden mask that lay tucked away, a reassurance. Aisling had seen his face a handful of times, never judging, but it still made him nervous. Folding his wings, Ouusaldus stood staring out over the pond as he waited for Aisling, his ears backwards and intently listening for her footsteps.

= Aisling = 1 | 330Aisling didn’t know what to think of this private meeting. They’d spent time together within the Aerie and under the watch of others but he’d never asked her for a one on one before. Perhaps there was just something he needed to show her? Ouusaldus was a good friend, actually the closest friend she had in the Aerie. He had been so kind to her, picking her up out of harm’s way and allowing her a new life within the Flock. She would be forever grateful for that. Even when she cried in the night and woke to sweat and tears dampening her face, he was there to comfort her. She’d been in the flock for a long time now and he had her full trust.
Through the screen that was her thick, blonde hair covering her eyes, Aisling picked her way through the undergrowth, being careful not to trip over vines or tree roots. Birds nested in the canopy above chirped out their morning duets and the mare couldn’t help but hum along. It helped to keep her amused during the trek to where Ouusaldus had asked her to meet him.
Pushing through hanging vines, she spotted the dark form of the other pegasus, a smile touching her lips as his familiarity. “Good morning,” she spoke across the glade, picking up her pace to bring herself to his side. Her nose stretched out to gently touch his shoulder affectionately, taking note of how his mask was off. She never met his eyes nor he met hers but he’d usually tuck his mask away around her. Aisling only wished she had the courage to do the same with him. She leaned against his side, a sign of trust between the two. He was the only one she felt comfortable enough to keep physical touch with and she was grateful for it.
“So what brings us out here today?” She quipped gently, casting her hidden gaze over the pond before them.
