Breim Mini-Event Time: Morning, Winter of 1701, Day of Champions Location: Nariah Kujuro and Felonius discuss the recent ruling of the High King to release the kirins from prison and into the herd.
Kujuro could not figure what was more exhausting: the royal wedding or the aftermath of the royal wedding. It felt like he had barely closed his eyes to bed down before the chime of the bell for servants to rise echoed through the halls, and Kujuro dragged himself to his heavy hooves for the next day. Lather still stuck to his coat from yesterday, and he couldn’t help but feel relief when King Hajime called for a day off for the servants. The rumors had spread like wildfire about the release of the kirins, lighting the lips of every servant and even the ambassadors visiting Breim. It had been impossible for Kujuro to ignore them, and Argus knew he did try. Every corner that he turned in the palace brought with him the primal fear that he would come face-to-face with one of those demons, ready to rip him to shreds now that King Hajime had released them from prison. Kujuro didn’t dare to relax until his hoof touched the cave floor outside of the palace. He let out a breath as soon as he found himself in the open space, staring at the glowing crystals embedded in the wall and enjoying the protected atmosphere. It felt like he could breathe, take stock of the city of Nariah before him, and-- The sound of hoofbeats behind him caused Kujuro to turn, cloak flowing with his movements. Ice trickled down his spine, and out of instinct Kujuro drew his hood over his head, ears tuned to the set of hooves. It took all of Kujuro’s instincts to not rear and bolt at the sight of a kirin emerging out of the palace behind him, stepping in line with another Breim. The two horses made eye contact before Kujuro stuck his tongue out, making sure to lock gazes. They trotted quickly away, though Kujuro watched the pair until they disappeared out of sight. “Argus damned kirins,” Kujuro hissed. “Anyone who takes one on should be labeled as a traitor. I wouldn’t be surprised if the rest of them are killed housing those infernal beasts.” He did not do as good of a job as he should have keeping his voice down, but the rage bubbling in Kujuro couldn’t be checked. Felonius was just trying to work and live his life. Things had been okay until he found out about the Kirins. It had been a nasty shock, and lowered his views of the High King. He put himself further in his work, trying to avoid the topic of the Kirins. It wasn't something he could avoid out in public though. He had seen a couple Kirins, and he made sure to remember the faces of the horses bringing them into their homes. He could not even comprehend hosting a Kirin. What kind of idiot would even think of doing that. Probably the New Generation. The thought popped into his head, making Felonius narrow his eyes further.
The New Generation just kept getting worse and worse, but this would certainly be a new low. It were these thoughts that kept his mind busy as he travelled along, keeping his eyes out for anything unusual. It was then that he heard another horses comment. Felonius had seen the Kirin and it's host heading away. It had stopped him in his tracks as his eyes followed their route, rearranging his own to avoid them. "I hope something happens to those who house them. They would deserve it." Felonius knew the other had probably not been expecting a reply, but he couldn't help himself. "I will never know what the High King was thinking, but his decision is final." Could it be a possibility that Hajime had been compromised by a servant of Ignacio? That could be an interesting theory, but Felonius felt that he shouldn't put too much thought into it. He did not want to doubt the High King. There had to have been some decent thinking behind the release of the Kirins. Maybe it was a political move, or a plan to get rid of the Kirins once and for all. Though he thought that would have been easier with them all locked up. Felonius would never voice these thoughts, knowing that it would be treason to do so.

He really should just leave. It wasn't like Kujuro didn't have a laundry list of things to do, after all. A day off for him was hardly a day off-- and with the appearance of the kirin walking with their Breim sponsor, Kujuro only had more reason to leave the scene as quickly as possible.
A voice agreeing with him caused Kujuro’s ear to flick, and he turned his muzzle toward the other standing nearby. With a nod of his head Kujuro tapped his hoof on the cave floor, muttering, “They have seen us meet,” before looking back at the scene unfolding before them. A sharp laugh escaped Kujuro at the other’s comment.
“One can only hope,” Kujuro said. “If some fate were to befall them, perhaps it would make others see how awful a law this is…” He paused at the comment about the High King, his tail flicking over his flank, before he let out a long sigh, dipping his head. “I wish I could tell you,” he sighed. “I work in the Palace and all I have heard is bickering and infighting about this decision. I do not know who whispered in the King’s ear to make this happen, but they cannot be concerned about the safety of the herd. I do hope it was not King Hajime who sincerely came up with this idea, or else this herd is lost in Argus’s eyes.” A grim prediction, but the weight of the past events clung to Kujuro’s shoulders tighter than his cloak.

Upon the other horse turning, Felonius too clapped a hoof against the ground. "I believe the High King is young still, and seeking a lot of council from others. It can only be expected. I could not imagine being in his position. A shame, really." Felonius had been shocked by the events, as many others were too.
He was none too eager for the Kirins to be out and about, and he feared that some travesty would come of it. "I fear for our safety- for the herds safety. How will it be safe for children to go out and play when there are Kirins about?" It made him think of his own childhood. He had grown up as a typical Breim foal, wandering the streets with his brother, supervised by the streets he played on. He had learned and grown because of this, and he could not imagine having grown up any other way. It would be a pity for the foals today if they could not do this in relative safety anymore. He didn't doubt that the community would watch them any less, but who knew what could happen with the Kirins. *"I hope this decision does not bear any ill fated wishes. "
He stopped and thought for a moment, before lowering his head slightly. "My name is Felonius, I am an apprentice under the Textile Master. A pleasure to meet you, especially considering your ideals are similar to mine, it seems." First impressions meant a lot to Felonius, and considering this other horses views on Kirins, Felo figured that he couldn't be half bad.

Kujuro's ear flicked once in the direction of the stallion as he regarded the other's words. They had some measure of truth to them, and it was something that Kujuro found himself pondering a lot more lately. "He is young," Kujuro agreed, "which is what makes his decision all the more puzzling... I would have assumed someone wiser than he would have advised against the kirins. Perhaps they could have just been released topside; I'm sure some other herd would have taken them in." His ears splayed as his tail flicked in irritation against his flank. "I blame whatever New Gen horses might have been whispering in the Adviser's ears, personally."
Newborns. Kujuro stilled, looking very briefly like he had been blindsided by the idea. Where would foals be able to explore? What would they do when confronted with a kirin? Their minds were so malleable... Images of his sister floated to the front of Kujuro's mind before he scraped his hoof against the cement. "The children will be too curious for their own good," Kujuro said. "Which would only make those responsible for the kirins forced to hide them away... No better than when they were imprisoned." He snorted. "It all just seems like a terrible idea, but I hope for the same."
He glanced over at the other horse, dipping his head as well, a brief smile flicking onto his muzzle. "Felonius. Charmed. I am Kujuro, I work in the palace as a Butler. Not that it gives me any more insight into the decision making process of the royals." His chuckle was dry as he glanced to the palace in question. "Textile is good work. I may have to come visit you; my cloak needs mending after the trials it went through in the Royal Wedding."
This was turning out to be a better than average day for Kujuro.

A small smile lifted on his face. "It is most definitely the new generation that have developed this idea. Time will only tell what will happen." Felonius worried for his herd and his family. He figured this other horse did too. It was interesting listening to another horses thoughts on this matter. He did not often speak with another like this, let alone a stranger. His eyes kept flickering to where the Kirin disappeared to. Would more follow those same steps? He felt the need to watch his back in case more started to come out. He knew they had to stay with their sponsors, but Felonius did not wish to encounter more than he had to. Even more of a reason to stay indoors doing work. Though his Master wanted him to go to the games to sell some of their wares. The thought of going to Sterling made him groan, but he knew it would be important.
He listened to Kujuro introduce himself as a butler. It seemed like an interesting profession, but Felonius didn't think he'd like it. He nearly turned a critical eye on the other horse, wondering if it made him any less for being in such a service. "We appreciate any customers, and I'd be happy to fix it up for you sometime. You'll have to come find me in the compound." Upon that thought Felonius realized he had meant to be on his way, but had been distracted by the appearance of the Kirin.
"I'm sorry, I've appeared to linger for too long. I must be getting back. My offer still stands though. Maybe then we can hold a longer conversation when I am not required elsewhere. It was nice to meet you, Kujuro. May they see you safe on your travels." Felonius gave a small smile before making his leave. It had been a pleasant small conversation with the other horse. He hoped to see him again.
