♛ The sun shown through the balcony windows in a splash of fire. Gold and orange and red danced across the wall while Rania gazed at the fashion booklet in front of her, a glass of wine held in her teke swaying slightly. Today was a long day of expenses and ledger books, neither of which Rania enjoyed but if she wanted to keep her work moving, it was a necessity that needed to be done. A slight headache throbbed in the back of her skull as she squinted against the sunlight. No matter how much she tried to concentrate on the article in front of her, the only words that seemed to stick in her over-worked brain were of gold was in season come fall.
Gold is always in season you ninnys. Rania hissed, taking a sip of her wine while throwing the booklet haphazardly on the pile of pillows across from her. Damn useless these are, they only go over used ideas. Nothing new ever shows up.
Rania stood, taking a larger swig of her wine, downing most of it in one gulp. Such small containers, these expensive wine glasses, Rania mused.
The door to her rooms was open, and as she crossed the room, she could see Athelstan in his own separate room. His back was to her, though he seemed intent on something. However, it wasn't of interest to Rania herself so she walked on, grabbing the wine bottle from the counter and pouring more into her glass. Maybe I should just drink straight from the bottle. She mused, then decided against it. She wasn't some harlot looking to have a good time. She just wanted to relax.
Leaving Athelstan to his business, Rania went out on the balcony, eyeing the street below for suspicious individuals before relaxing and staring out at the view. The ocean to her left sparkled in the fading sunlight, just barely visible from her three story building, while directly ahead stood the palace in the distance and the Crucible just slightly to the right.
Lovely however the new Crucible was, it was not best to be going to such events, especially since the destruction of the records office. Athelstan was on tight orders and the Chevilars weren't too keen on specifics with an 'unregistered' slave running around. To be honest, it wasn't her fault the damn paper mill burnt down but alas, slaves had to be kept on a tight leash now. What a damn shame. Took all the fun out of everything. 421 Words | Rania - Mob Boss | Post #1 ulla

Athelstan
Athelstan sighed in boredom, he and Rania had been at the house all day, and he had no clue what to do, until his stomach gave a loud rumble. Athelstan set a course for the kitchen, to find something to satisfy his hunger. On his way out of his room he glanced into Rania’s room briefly with the thought of asking her if she wanted anything to eat, but seeing her reading he decided against bothering his sister.
With his stomach growing louder by the minute, Athelstan searched the kitchen for something to munch on, but only came up empty hooved. Until he saw it. A very large jar of cookies was on the highest shelf of one of the cabinets. Using his telekinesis he brought the jar of cookies down from the highest shelf and took it to his room. Humming a small tune to himself, Athelstan sat on the floor with his back to the door and dove into the cookie jar. After a few cookies he noticed they tasted kind of weird, but strangely good, shrugging his shoulders he continued eating the cookies until there were none left in the jar. Athelstan felt a wave of calm go over his body as he ate the cookies. 'I need to ask rania to make some more of those cookies' he thought to himself. He wondered if he would do it now, and his stomach immediately answered him as if telling him to ask. Giggling to himself for no apparent reason Athelstan clumsily got up from his spot on the floor and made his way down the hall to Rania's room with the now empty cookie jar floating by his side.
"Master Rania? I have a question!" He asked aloud while walking out to her balcony where she stood observing the city below. Normally he would have asked before entering but he wasn't acting like his usual self today.

♛ Hearing someone else walk into the room, Rania sighed. Did she really have to yell at someone else today to deal with their own problems? If someone else was dead from drowning in the harbor, she was going to give herself an ulcer one of these days.
Whipping around, about to lay some hate, she stopped dead, observing as Athelstan stumbled to a stop in front of her. Within seconds, she assessed him, his unsteady state, the jar, and the glassy eyes. "Well fuck"
Rania squinted at her brother before downing the rest of the wine in her glass. when she finished, he mumbled something about a question and in the state he was in, it probably wasn't going to be something intelligent. Or honestly, depending on the nature of those cookies, there was a very high possibly that it could also be a question she couldn't answer.
The real question is, how did he find those cookies in the first place, and also, why didn't she lock them the last time she used them. Well this night just got a whole lot more interesting. But probably not for me.
"Okay Athelstan, you can tell me your question, if you just sit down on the couch over there. Don't go anywhere." She also handed him some of the knickknacks she had laying on the end table for him to contemplate until the cookies wore off. 235 Words | Rania - Mob Boss | Post #2 ulla
