= Leila = 1 | 385It almost seemed appropriate for a party to be thrown after the events of the past year. The new year offered new opportunities, along with a new King to fix what the past King had ruined. Amadeus was never meant to rule- even the dimmest of his sympathizers should have recognized that.
Leila knew she should enjoy herself yet she found gatherings like these quite dull. In her eyes it was nothing but a place where other nobles could brag about their wealth or show off their latest purchase. It was quite the struggle not to roll her eyes whenever this was brought up in a conversation to her.
She sighed and looked down at her cup of wine, flicking her ears back briefly as she imagined pouring the dark liquid onto the marble floor. It would only be a burden on the slaves that worked around the clock here. A look of disdain shadowed her face as she opted not to make them clean up after her. Her mother might be furious as well.
Speaking of the devil, a golden coat caught her eye and she met her mother’s gaze as the matriarch approached. Naseera sidled up to her daughter, taking a cup from a slave carrying a tray nearby. Leila could sense her mother’s discomfort at the action but both had to keep up appearances.
“Do you see who your father is talking to?” her mother hissed lowly, Leila following her gaze towards where her father stood talking to a few other eminents. He seemed to be focused on a darker unicorn though, one whom was dressed in decadent jewels and fabrics. Preferably to cover how little markings they had on their body. Leila frowned, realizing she was just the same with her intricate golden tattoos sprawled across her skin.
“That’s Eminent Kaisar of House Ignissa, part of House Kalama,” Naseera hummed, knowing that Leila had been schooled on all the Noble Houses that resided in Valore. “He’s deep into politics, no doubt your father likes him for that.” She straightened up suddenly, glancing at her daughter. “Look fast, I believe he may be coming over for an introduction.”
Once again fighting the urge to roll her eyes openly, Leila watched with steely eyes as her father walked over with the other Emin.

KAISAR I burn’d — and ached for wings The collective sigh of relief could be felt in the air, as conversation filtered through the elegantly decorated ball room. Amadeus' reign had been one of questionably bad choices, ones borne of youth and a personality never fit for the Crown. One could say the Advisors had done the best they could, Kaisar had merely groused the assassination of the more capable children should had never come to pass in the first place. Alduin, and even Marcellus with the Talori noose wrapped around her elegant neck — would have faired much better, their lives had been specifically weaved to dance through the perilous nature of the crown, and it's expectations. They would of been celebrating another successful year, not having to dance through the droll steps of mourning, and celebrating the acension of a New King — no matter how capable he appeared to be. Kaisar chanced a glance at the other nobles who filtered in and out between the rooms, as conversation flowed easily between the rest of his companions, and repressed the exasperated sigh that threatened to escape him. It wasn't until the fated words of: Come, Emin Kaisar, I'd like to introduce you to my wife and daughter, did he snap back to topic at hand. A moment of silence reigned, before the he conceded with a polite dip of his head and gestured for Valentine to lead the way. He would of cared to school his face into one of a more neutral disposition, bordering on amiable if he'd felt up to it — but that would no doubt open him up for more interruptions from vapid nobles. Waiting in the wings with tepid confidence and poorly veiled intentions. There was only so many vapid nobles Kaisar could stomach before he wished that he had swallowed the fetid wine that slapdash old bat had served him moons ago. At least then, he would of held out hope in whatever halls Ignacio had planned for him in the afterlife, would be filled with something well, more. Gratefully, they had managed to cross the small distance uninterrupted. "Eminences." His smooth baritone greeted warmly enough, as they entered Naseera's and Leila's presence. "This is Eminent Naseera, my wife, and my daughter Eminent Leila." Valentine introduced, and while Kaisar might have detected a note of a hopeful something laced within Valentine's tone, he ignored it in favor of settling his gaze upon Leila. "Enjoying the party?" He queried, his two-toned gaze dropping to his chalice as it swirled within his teke's grasp. "I admit I'm only really here for the wine, I've been to enough of these to last me until Ignacio comes to take me." 447 WORDS / Post 1.

= Leila = 2 | 341 Leila kept her guard up as her father sauntered over with the other emin in tow, the violet tones in her eyes icy. She didn’t know what to expect from him, especially with the infamous house Kalama in his name. Whispers and rumors flew too fast within the streets of Valore and the affairs and tragedies that had happened within his house were all too known.
She studied him coolly as her father introduced them, preparing to be met with some comment about his wealth. The sarcastic tone took her by surprise though, a quiet snort of amusement escaping past her walls as his words struck her humor. The look that Naseera gave her as she quickly worked to collect herself was enough to keep the small smirk on her face. “It’s difficult to really enjoy a party when it lacks proper entertainment. I do have to say the wine is quite delectable but of course they’d only serve from the best vineyard for a celebration like this,” she quipped in return, hoping this man shared the same dry sense of humor as she.
Naseera looked at her husband, feigning a charming smile as she moved to his side. “We’ll give you two some space,” she mused, sending a pointed look at her daughter as she waltzed off with Valentine.
Leila watched her parents leave with the slightest traces of a scowl hidden in her eyes before looking back at Kaisar. “I guess we don’t have much of a choice,” she sighed dramatically, glancing towards the open doors that led to the back gardens. “Walk with me?”
As the two made their way outside into the warm night, Leila turned to him curiously, regarding his bright blue eye. “So House Ignissa? I hear you’re deep into politics, no doubt why my father admires you but what else do you do? Certainly there’s more to a man than what his business is, don’t you agree?"
Her voice turned sly as she sidled closer, presenting a quiet challenge to amuse her. "Indulge me.”

KAISAR I burn’d — and ached for wings It's a curse, really. To have a name which spoke volumes about you, before you'd so much as stepped a hoof near someone. Kalama is a name that invited opinions, he's sure that there are some who have had tales passed down from their Grandparents, or their parents who were acquainted with his late father — about all the potential and folly that seemed to come hoof in hoof with such a name. Kaisar's gaze remained passive, if guarded. Like those chevaliers and valiants often painted on opulent walls. Their shields ready to raise and spears swing forward at a moments notice. But a spear can be many different things, as can a shield, in this instance it's the ease of which his humor comes to him. It's the surprise which takes the Eminence off guard. Dark lips pulled into an over easy smile, more of a smirk really — Kaisar never managed to perfect smiling. "Yes, I suppose they had to bring out the top shelf, considering they dropped the ball on the entertainment aspect." The emin agreed easily enough, his head tilted a fraction to the side after a moment. "Unless they spent the budget on the wine first, and hoped the guests would be too drunk to notice the lack of good entertainment." Kaisar isn't surprised by Naseera's look, her charmed smile is met with a nod from the Unicorn and a flick of his gaze toward Valentino as they left. His gaze easily slid back toward Leila, and he cannot silence the huffed breath which escaped him — caught somewhere between a laugh and a sigh. "I suppose we don't." He had thought himself a little too old for these types of situations, where he would be introduced, and left with equally single daughters and sons. "Like I can say no." He responded wryly, a brow hitched up a notch as he easily moved to Leila's side. He's used to silence, but there is something about this particular silence, which niggled at him as they walked beneath the canopy of the night sky. Perhaps it's the knowledge that he's been left with the Vasuman's unmarried daughter, in a way that's oddly similar to all those times when he was a much younger stallion, being paraded around by his own mother. Dropped in the company of other eligible suitors. Or, that she had met his humor with some of his own, and he'd rather like to see if she had more of it to spare. She is beautiful, he noted, the stars and torches catch her glittering horns and illuminate the many hues trapped in their countenance. Like the God's had placed the very cosmos within them. A soot colored ear twitched when she finally broke the silence, and his features grew thoughtful as he mulled over his answer. "Everyone likes having a friend who can navigate the pitfalls of politics, no?" He grinned, and his gaze moved to scan the scenery around them. Indulge me. "Would you believe me if I told you that I'm a rather boring fellow, I like to sit in my parlor and despair over paperwork and political strife? That I enjoy long walks on the gilded bridge? And consider verbally sparring with my Nephew to be the highlight of my day? No?" He laughed, and then shrugged a muscular shoulder. "I like to visit Opulence often, my mother has a Vineyard there I help manage, and attend parties where I don't have to discuss the 101 different ways Amadeus could of done better. I also rather like to escape to those little cafes in Bloom, one serves a tea I'm rather partial to." Kaisar elaborated, and then smirked. "And what of you, Leila. What do you get up to, that doesn't involve vapid nobles?" 633 WORDS / Post 2.

= Leila = 3 | 333Anyone who could make Leila smile easily was immediately notched onto her “Valore citizens I don’t completely despise” list. Kaisar seemed to make his way on there in just a matter of seconds. She snickered over his choice of words, appreciating his effort to put humor before business. She also appreciated that he didn’t entirely drawl over the “importance” of refined etiquette. Her mother would have her hide for behaving foolishly in public but this was a different level of behavior. Although they just met mere moments ago, Leila found herself comfortable to relax and be herself around him. The absence of her parents’ prying eyes certainly helped.
At his direction towards herself, Leila faltered. After being presented with a box of adventures from him that had yet to be unwrapped, she found that her life was almost… Boring. Uncertain confusion etched its way onto her features for a moment before she quickly molded it to pass as if she was mulling over her options.
“Well to be quite honest, my days certainly don’t qualify to as much fun as yours.” She raised a brow at him, musing over his previous comments. “My days are quite carefree though. I spend time at the Pearl and give company to courtesans who need a break from demanding patrons. Of course, their head mistress demands my attention above all.” She paused, a quiet laugh escaping her before she could stop it. “I don’t suppose Lilith has hosted you before, has she?” Leila wouldn’t be entirely surprised if the woman hadn’t- Lilith certainly had an appetite that was never satisfied.
Clearing her throat, she continued on. “Unfortunately I’ve never had the pleasure to see Opulence or Bloom. I’ve heard they’re lovely. My mother does own a resort in Haven though, the Solstice Springs.” Lilac eyes alit with amusing slid to him as she smiled invitingly. “Perhaps one day soon you could make a trip there. After all that’s happened this year we could certainly use a vacation.”

I burn’d — and ached for wings Well to be quite honest, my days certainly don’t qualify to as much fun as yours.A brow rose in response to her words, he doubted that. In fact, he was sure that they were entirely more fun. His days were resigned to petty squabbles with his Nephew and long hours in the Court with peers whose intelligence was questionable at best. Peppered with bits of reprieve in Bloom and Opulence, with those who he had grown to love. He listened attentively as she described her days, the ghost of a smile coasting on his dark lips. It appeared his assumptions were right, and the Lord could only utter a mock sigh of exasperation. "On the contrary, your days are far more fun than mine. Care to trade for a day or three?" Kaisar inquired, though at the mention of Lilith, a spark lit in the corners of his mismatched eyes. Ah, Lilith. He wasn't surprised either, that she had picked Leila up in the whirlwind that she was. All fire and passion, all consuming with the appetite of a wildfire in summer. "Me and Lilith are well acquainted, actually." The emin revealed with a cheshire grin. "I see you're not immune to her charms either."He is surprised to learn, that she has never stepped a hoof in Opulence or Bloom, especially since her mother owned an establishment there. While he'd never stayed at the Solstice Springs, his mother had, and her reviews were nothing short of glowing. "Perhaps." He paused, Leila had made an impression on him in their short meeting, and it would be a terrible shame to pass up such a prettily presented invitation. That smile could put the flowers in Bloom to shame. Leila was graceful, with enough sharpness to meet him in his humor, and then some. Her beauty only served to accentuate that. Assured by the easiness they had fell into, away from the prying eyes of nobles and parents, Kaisar stilled, his face thoughtful. "Consider it my treat then, to take you to either Bloom or Opulence, whenever you like." He paused for a moment, before he elaborated. "Since you haven't been to either, and it would be a shame to not remedy that. We can even visit the one you don't pick first at a later date — if you enjoy my company enough to humor me for a second vacation, that is."402 WORDS / Post 3.
