Kasai Mare | Noble | Adoh
Another forced smile. One wouldn't know it, since she had schooled herself well to hide her fear and misunderstandings of the world around them. Her smile was forced and fake of course, but to the others it was genuine and pretty, proper even. A smile here and a laugh there, a quiet compliment on some silly garnish the other noble wore. And no one was non the wiser. These noble parties were silly and fickle, she did not understand the practical use of them. For instance, this very party was for nothing other than to celebrate the resident noble's pit fighter winning the latest match. How silly, and barbaric in her personal opinion. To celebrate the violence horses committed to one another. They would never understand. Nobody here would. In Adoh, slaves and pit fighters were just apart of everyday life and as much as she wished it wasn't so, there was nothing she could do about it. This life was simply hardwired into every citizen here, to try and change it would be laughable. She couldn't even voice her opinions on the matter, and thus stayed silent and forced another smile at the noble that greeted her parents. Thankfully it seemed Kasai wasn't really the interest of the chat this time and she allowed herself to slip away, hoping to put some distance between herself and her parents in hopes that she wouldn't be bothered. Being a noble was taxing when one was an introvert, but sometimes she had to do it in order to make her parents happy, after all they've done all they could for her. The least she could do was attend parties and make a proper noble of herself. After being stopped several times by other nobles for a 'small' chat, Kasai finally made her way out of the party and through the large open doors into the warm night. The hustle and noise of the party faded as she stepped lightly into the garden of the estate, taking a small reprieve from the sounds of nature, even if she could still hear the party going on. At least she didn't have to smile and talk nonsense with other nobles anymore. Relieved, Kasai stepped over to the pond and gingerly laid herself down on the grass, ignore the seats off to the side in favor of simply enjoying nature for a smile bit before she had to return to the dull party.

[ Bellatrix ]
It was one of those nights, again. Wasn’t there just one family of nobles or single noble that didn’t know her family, or that her family didn’t know? That didn’t seem to be the case, though the parties the young mare was dragged to were all a drag.
Bellatrix felt ridiculous and too pretty, when she enjoyed her ragged coat and mess of a mane tangled from the wind. That was pretty for her. Pretty and dangerous. Being in a dress and shawl and whatever crap her mother pulled out of her wardrobe to dump onto her like some doll made her feel small and not her usual self. Not around noble upon noble. When they came to chat with her parents, she was forced to stay and chat as well, even if barely any words left her lips.
How were they proud to be of nobility when she herself simply dreaded it? There was nothing great about being a higher up. She felt like she could barely be herself due to it, unless she was on her own, and too much was expected of her. Especially the parties. Gods, she hated the parties and the gatherings. They were suffocating.
The mare excused herself, a lie that she was heading over to use the bathroom before creeping away with approval from her mother. Bells would have thought they knew her better by now, but she wasn’t complaining if she got to go take a breather away from everyone. Plus, it wasn’t like she really had anywhere else to be… They wouldn’t notice just one simple equine missing, would they?
She made her escape through the back, slipping through the doors that were partially open. They led to the garden, the only really tolerable place of the entire party. The peace, the fresh air, the flowers. While Bellatrix wasn’t a very experienced thief, she knew she could snag a flower or two for her best friend to bring to her after the party. One way or another, she always brought back a little something for Rayne on her extra fun nights, someone who might have actually enjoyed the party in her place. A party that may have actually been enjoyed if she’d been around.
A sigh escaped from her in disappointment, stepping down the steps and down to the garden. When she looked up, she took a pause. Someone was already there? That’s a bummer, she thought to herself, a muscle in her jaw ticking. So much for being alone. Her eyes narrowed at the figure laying in the grass, her steps cautious as she moved closer to them.
“You know,” she spoke up, trying to keep any bitterness out of her tone and letting the false sweetness slip out. All night, every night at those parties, she was completely fake. The smiles, the greetings, the laughs. It wasn’t difficult to conjure up, but it was to keep it going. “Last I checked, the party was happening inside the house. You don’t want to miss that, do you?”

Kasai Mare | Noble | Adoh
Kasai watched the moon slowly drift overhead. Hoping that by some miracle the night would be over soon and she could just go home and get away from all this nonsense. She knew sooner or later she would be sought out by her mother, lectured and told to get back inside where it was 'safe' and where she could properly mingle with the rest of the party goers. It would happen no doubt, but she would enjoy the peace and quiet while she had it at least. Of course, moments later the quiet was broken only shortly after she laid down, and the unicorn sighed softly, already defeated and ready to head back in, without so much as a fight. She half suspected that the horse walking up on her had been her mother, having been expected to get berated for leaving the party and laying in the grass by the older mare. However when the other spoke, she was more than a little surprised. Kasai turned at the unfamiliar voice, she definitely did not expect to be confronted by another noble mare. She did not seem happy either. Kasai had spent her whole life faking it for the sake of keeping up appearances for other nobles and she knew that this mare wasn't happy. That smile definitely said it all. Not angry, but not exactly pleased either. Whether is was because Kasai was there or something else she wasn't sure, but best not to confront her on her attitude and make it worse. Gods, only knew how badly she messed up when she accidentally let something slip that wasn't socially acceptable. "I could very well ask the same of you," Was her quipped reply, eyeing the other curiously before rising to stand again. She didn't know this mare, and therefor didn't know her status, and was probably best she at least appear presentable, for her parents if nothing else. Somewhat at least. The grass stains on her knees certainly didn't help matters any. "Why are you out here and not enjoying the party yourself, if I may be so bold to ask?" It was quite interesting to see another skip out on the party, if that was what she was doing. For all she knew the mare was simply out for a breather before returning to the party.

[ Bellatrix ]
As surprised as Bellatrix was to see another noble in her preferred area, the mare looked surprised to see her as well. And she’d been laying in the grass as well. Her ears perked momentarily, brows furrowing. She wouldn’t doubt that the entirety of Hireath knew how much her mother hated her getting dirty or lounging around like something less than a noble. Sure, she did it anyways, but there was hardly a time where she could do so without the nagging.
Her tail gave a flick, eyeing the lighter mare’s grass stained knees. She almost wanted to laugh, to mock her, but her words made her ears flick back in irritation and she raised her head higher to make her seem taller, more threatening.
“I could very well ask you to mind your own business,” she shot back, unhappy with the answer even when knowing she was the one butting into the other noble’s business first. Still… she’d been the one to ask questions first and she expected a response rather than more questions. Maybe she ought to chop her tongue off nice and clean, leave it out for the scavengers to find it and pick it up. Her dagger was wrapped around her leg as usual, hidden beneath the too fancy outfit her mom had chosen.
Bells exhaled a sigh, her shoulders shrugging. “But, since we’re already here, there’s no point in hiding that I’m not exactly having the time of my life,” she explained, slow and harsh. And she really wasn’t. What she wanted to do that night was run around with her friend along the beach or let her read her fortune and then laugh about it afterwards. No, instead she was stuck at some stupid party while her life wasted away.
“I don’t see the point of these parties. So what if someone’s getting married or got a promotion or even just feels like having a damn party,” she spat, stomping her hoof against the ground without a care that she may have just ruined a perfectly mowed lawn. “I don’t need to be here. I don’t want to be here.” Her volume had raised loud enough that people in the house could probably hear, but they didn’t. With the noise coming from inside? She was no louder than a pesky mosquito flying around a bunch of noisy equines. “It’s a load of bullshit.”
She stepped forward, her head dropping and lower lip poking out after she took a quick glance behind herself. “You’re not going tell on me, are you? Oh, mother would be so mad if she found out I talked smack about such nobility and their exciting parties. She’d lock me in my room for weeks.” Her acting needed a little touch up, but otherwise it was believable as she crept closer and practically ‘begged’ the other noble to not rat her out. Her eyes looked wide and scared, her lower lip trembling until she gave a humourless laugh. She thought she was hilarious. Rayne would have whacked her over the head for her sarcasm and jokes, but she knew her best friend thought she was funny as well.
“So, little miss ditcher. Now it’s your turn, even though we never got to my turn since you didn’t answer me to begin with but I think I’ll let it slide once and spare you.” Her words turned serious again, looking the mare dead in the eye while she spoke to show her she wasn’t really messing around. She hadn’t been from the start. “I don’t exactly like running into others when I try to get away from something as stupid as this, so tell me: Why are you here and not inside? You don’t want to offend the nobility and make them feel like their party is trash, do you?”

Kasai Mare | Noble | Adoh
Kasai just barely managed to keep herself from flinching at the response she received. Her anxiety already started to rear its ugly head now that she realized she may have said something socially unacceptable. In truth, she knew it wasn't her fault. Her parents could have hired the best tutors there ever could be and yet without ever having been properly socialized as a filly she would never know what to say in certain situations. Even worse yet was that that excuse would never work, even her own parents had assumed that she was just being lazy and not focusing enough. Kasai wanted to apologize, quickly before the mare could say anything to anyone and ruin her parents reputation with an uncultured daughter. But thankfully it seemed to have slipped the others mind as Kasai was cut off before she could even open her mouth. Silently thanking Ignacio, Kasai focused on the other as she spoke, her neutral expression slowly morphing into one of shock at the admittance from the other. Not once in her life had Kasai ever come across another noble that didn't seem to care about parties, and she could almost assume the other did not much care for other frivolous things that came with being a noble. It was certainly odd, she had always thought she was the odd one out, but in a way it was also relieving to know that not everyone enjoyed this nonsense that others seemed to make such a big deal of. Kasai watched the other in shock, only for her expression to switch to utter confusion at the sudden begging not to tattle to the others mother about this. What the hell. She was not prepared for this. She knew nobles were fickle, but this was just bizarre. How was she suppose to deal with this!? Was there some hidden signal she just wasn't picking up on? And now she was laughing! Kasai stared, in utter bewilderment, not sure if she should laugh or just walk away. Maybe this mare was a tad crazy, that had to be it. Anxiety was starting to reach its peak and Kasai did everything in her power to keep herself from having a panic attack in front of this mare who may or may not be crazy. So to keep the other mare content and to keep herself from breaking down, Kasai took a deep breath and answered as calmly as she could, "I don't particularly care what they think of me, I am here simply to appease my parents."Even this could backfire on her if the other decided to go tattle herself, nobles were always looking for ways to one up each other. But she was never a good liar, at least verbally, she could falsify her emotions but lying was never her strong suite, "Even so, I just do not care for parties," She added, glancing back at the house with a frown. "Especially ones that celebrate violence."
Turning back to the darker mare, dipping her head just slightly, "I can leave if you wish?" She was never one for confrontations and if she was simply wished gone then she would leave, even if it meant having to force herself back into that crowded room.

[ Bellatrix ]
The feeling of having the upper hand in certain situations had always been a good one, a feeling one might have gotten from too much alcohol or some sort of drugs. It must have come from the years of her being defiant towards her parents, standing up to them when she wasn’t please with the little things, or big things, that were expected of her. A show that no one could take advantage of her and that she wasn’t scared.
Except sometimes she was deep down inside, a wreck of emotions eating her on the inside when on the outside she either looked fine or angry. They were only feelings she let her best friend see if she could be strong enough to hold them in around others. If she felt anything else at all that night, it wasn’t something she let out. The mare in front of her only got her irritation, anger and sarcasm that most others often got.
A faint smile curled up on her lips, amusement peeking out from the noble mare’s expressions. She could see that she was beginning to get to her and she was quite enjoying it. As much of an asshole that it made her look like, it was something she couldn’t deny.
“Ah, it’s always the parents,” she breathed out, ears twitching as the other’s words left her mouth finally in a response. “The things we do for them no matter how much we may not like it.” Bells tipped her head to the side, her previous outburst from moments before forgotten and she seemed a lot more relaxed. It wasn’t everyday she found someone that wasn’t exactly… proud, if she could put it that way, to be a noble. The majority of them celebrated stupid occasions with pointless parties and carried themselves high above the rest with their expensive jewelry or apparel. Not her, and most definitely not the mare in her presence.
She chuckled, turning her head to glance out over the pond that was in the center of the garden, the water sparking beneath the light of the moon. “I wouldn’t be here if I hadn’t been dragged. I can’t remember one party that I willingly went to. Most of the time it’s me trying my best to get away and failing. The stupid nobility find any possible thing to celebrate.” Her shoulders shrugged, dipping her head lower and peeking off to the side in case someone, or her mother, had been listening in. She didn’t mind trouble, but offending the nobles and her mother? That was one kind she didn’t look forward to getting in.
“Hey,” she said, her brown gaze resting back on the lighter mare. Her jaw tensed, eyes narrowed in thought when she let the silence consume them for only a few moments. “Knowing how much I hate the damn parties and all the people in it, I won’t put you back through that hell. We both just wanted an escape, and a lot of the times no one is ever really out. They prefer to mingle with the rest.” But she wasn’t just another noble like they were.
“But if you really want to go back, I can’t stop you. I’m just saying that I know how to have a much better time than those boring fools.” Her smile turned mischievous, dangerous even, and she took a step to the side. By the looks of it, the other mare did not look like the kind who ran into trouble much, or made her own. Bells probably wasn’t the best crowd for her to be around, but she wouldn’t protest to having another to wreck some havoc around the place.
