Nivinara has been called to help medicate some of herder Chirin’s Apanas. The weather is taking a turn for the worse when Q, a vagabond stallion, shows up and warns them that, nevermind him, some thieves he has been tracking are in the area- according to him the Raiders usually assigned to the area are nowhere to be found. And the Apana are getting restless with the encroaching storm... Event Journal// Located Here Premise Journal// Located Here

Nivinara | War-Forged | Medic
Every waiting breath the storm rolled on closer. The dark ominous clouds eating up the warm rays of the afternoon soon, leaving a dark shadow in its wake. Alya had been kind in keeping the storm away the last few days, but even nature must take its course. And with how dark the cloud were there was no doubt that this would be a bad storm, much worse then those before. It was not uncommon for fierce blizzards or even ice storms here on the mountain, but with clouds black as night, no one could ignore the danger coming. And while most were preparing for the long wait indoors, many still had a duty to uphold and thus this left the War-Forged medic with much to do. She didn't have time to prepare herself when so many others needed help, thankfully after her next appointment she would have a small time frame to gather what she needed for the up coming storm. She hoped that Chirin was prepared, no doubt the Apana's she would soon be seeing would be in a fuss during the storm. Speaking of which, the medic finally found the herd of Apana's just as Chirin said they'd be, but with so many creatures in one place it was hard to say where the young stallion was, and honestly she would rather not waste more time trying to find the young one with a storm practically upon them. "Chirin?" She called spotting his familiar within the throng of Apana's and new he must be somewhere nearby, at least she hoped.

Chirin War Forged | Herder The roan colt cursed under his breath. The sky had grown darker with the storm clouds gathering together overhead. As he had been moving the flock through a thicket, one of the Apana lambs had gotten herself caught on a bramble bush. Chirin hadn't noticed the two were missing until he had done a head count when he stopped the flock by their corral. He had instructed Maple to hold the flock there wile he went to find them.
He snorted his frustration, a cloud of breath huffing from his nostrils. He stepped on a serrated vine that had wrapped around the lambs front right leg and bent his head to cut it with his emerald horn. The vine snapped and the lamb tugged away, thinking she was free. She ended up cutting her back legs on the sharp thorns.
Chirin flattened his ears and cut some more vines. It took him another five minutes to free the Apana. Maple's barks caught his attention and he looked back over to the corral with the flock in front of it. He saw Nivinara, the Medic he had met in Skeldr Town. “Damn it! I'm late!” he cursed as he ushered the two Apana into a full run. He coughed a bit as he skidded to a stop beside the mare and commanding Maple away from her. The scar on his throat stung, making it hard for him to breath after running in cold air. His right eye, as he had expected, was now completely blind.
He turned to the Medic and gave her a weak smile, “Sorry to keep you waiting.”

Samba - Vagabond Thief -
The bay mare trudged slowly through the trees, her hooves aching from a full night of travel and then some during the day.. The afternoon sun had been keeping her company, but it was now being sucked away by the darkness of threatening clouds overhead. She tipped her head back, peering through the thin branches of the cool trees, glaring at the large cloud that was daring to block her path. Her long, raven hair danced at the pull of the nipping wind, a shiver running through her body from the chill. She normally didnt travel this far away from Eithne. It was daring for her to even let the large city of Aodh out of her sight without a twinge of guilt hitting her gut like an arrow. She was leaving her post- her watch for Shenan. But now was not the time to worry about that. Having heard a tip that a child held a few white Apana pelts.. that would surely get her by for a while more.. especially when she knew just the guy who was looking for the wooly goodness. A smirk crossed her features as she dropped her head, her thin hair falling lopsided across her face, expertly covering the silly little white star that plagued her otherwise perfect face.
Another gust of wind collected behind her, sharply nipping at her heals as she took on a light trot down the well-traveled War Lord's Road. She typically didnt wander down this path, considering Raiders were normally all over it day and night, but for some reason she had been seeing less and less out lately. Maybe it had to do with the fast-approaching storm, or some other business that was not hers, but she was more than happy not to complain when they unknowingly made her life easier. The mare hummed to herself, her ears on a constant swivel for anything that wanted to jump out and ruin her day.
Her humming fell silent as the road branched out of the trees- a long valley stretching before her. Her eyes grazed the clouds once more, a frown playing across her lips at the sight of them darkening rather quickly. Her eyes dropped back to the ground and her frown grew. "Ah shit no." She grumbled to herself, dipping her head down an examining well placed hoof prints in the ground.. leading right in the direction she was heading. Her brow furrowed and she rose her head, new found determination set in her olive eyes. No way was she going to let someone else take what she had already mentally claimed. No way. The mare snorted and jumped into a gallop, her hooves digging violently into the ground to try to reach the farm as quickly as she could.

Valencia ✦ Vagabond ✦ Thief
A peculiar silence surrounded the valley the mare trotted through; it was a favored path of many, yet there was not a soul in sight. Not too long ago, grim clouds had begun to creep their way before the afternoon sun. Perhaps the brave War-Forged have retreated to the safety of their homes? Valencia thought surely the raiders would not be so easily deterred from their watch though, scattered by a mere bout of bad weather, it just seemed so strange. Nonetheless, the road was empty and unattended, and therefore an easier route for her to take.
The pintaloosa had not been in the area very long, she typically moved quickly and quietly wherever she went, only making the occasional deal when absolutely necessary, but thievery had been failing her as of late, and a sympathetic soul took note of this. Claiming that it wasn't known by most, the equine told her the surprising value of white Apana wool, even going so far as to point her in the direction she was certain to find it. Normally Valencia would not trust the words of strangers so easily, but this one, for some reason, her heart assured her was legit. Besides, what was she to do if she couldn't pick up some good coin soon? Though she would never admit it, the mare was becoming somewhat desperate.
Lavender-blue eyes shot up to scan the sky once more as the wind began to wail and whip at her face; the clouds had shifted to an even more foreboding dark grey. She knew she must keep moving, lest the chilly air would freeze her thin frame much sooner than any heavy raider stallion. Maybe this storm really is something to worry about...
Huh?
A subtle thumping of hooves became more prominent by the second. Valencia flipped her head back just long enough to get a glance at the approaching horse, but slightly quickened her pace, A mare? Is she chasing after me? Unfortunately, there was nowhere to hide and avoid the oncoming encounter in the nearby sparse vegetation and open plains ahead. The unknown mare was a few hundred feet away, and gaining fast. An annoyed sigh left Valencia's nostrils, coupled with an eye-roll, Seriously?

Nivinara | War-Forged | Medic
No sooner had she tried to step into the corral to find Chirin herself did the sheepdog finally come of the flock and start yapping at her. Of course Nivinara did as the dog wanted her to and step back away from the herd and stayed put, letting the dog go about its guarding duty by essentially yelling at her to stay away. Well at least she did her job well and no way was Nivinara going to step hoof in there. The last time she messed with a familiar her hindquarters got raked. Thankfully she didn't have to sit with the dog for much longer as Chirin finally appeared with Apana lambs, whom seemed to have gotten hurt as well. Another to treat she supposed. Nivinara merely smiled at the colt when he apologize after calling off the dog, "Don't fret about that, i see you were a bit busy yourself." She nodded towards the little Apana's whom had small scrapes and cuts on their legs. "Besides your the last of my appointments today, no need to rush." Well at least not for her sake but the storm? Probably. She certainly didn't want to be caught out in it and she suspected Chirin didn't either. And she still needed to prepare in case she got snowed in, but she wouldn't rush him nor slack off. These Apana needed to be treated correctly and she wasn't going to do half the work because of a storm. "So besides our little friend here, who else is in need of a check up?"

[ Q | Vindicator ]
Like the rolling clouds above, a soft mist floated and churned with every heaved breath the dark stallion exhaled, his dark sides and thick feathers already beginning to cake with snow as his hooves pounded against the ground. The extra weight of the frozen precipitation was not a grand concern, albeit an annoying one and fortunately enough, steam rose from his hooves, and molten patches of snow were left in his wake, glossing over as the sheer chill of the air instantaneously froze the water back into ice. It was a clear trail, but a necessary one, he hadn't time to be stealthy, nor was he particularly concerned given the mission the Vindicator had set himself upon.
Not long ago, he had had the fortune (though rather a misfortune for her) of crossing paths with the healer known as Nivinara, and through the fate of that meeting, he'd been able to help save her life and herbs. The two had parted on good terms, and Q had ensured her safety that day, but in the last few weeks, between his endless search for any sign of what he'd lost, he had returned to check up on her, melting from the shadows as he had always done, before again returning to their cold embrace. Such was the life he lived.
Though now, as he moved with purpose towards the little mare's habitat, his mind rolled over the sight he'd seen heading this direction. Two thieves, so marked by those who, too, chose to follow a common creed. These two were unmistakable, and perhaps he'd caught glances of them in the past, or, more likely, heard tails told of them. His good eye rolled at the thought, and an irritated huff left his lips in yet another cloud to join the skies. Q had had the displeasure of encountering many of their kind in the past, and he was not about to allow them to steal from one as humble as the mare he had met.
As the snow turned beneath his hooves, the familiar sight of Nivinara's spotted chestnut coat came into view, and before her stood a small colt, not hardly old enough to be alone (though, who was he, really, to be the judge of that, he'd been left alone younger) and two fluffy sheep-looking creatures followed him. Narrowing his gaze he studied them closer upon approach. Apanas? Ah, so this was it. . .
Sure that he was now fully in their view, Q drew wide his maw and whinnied his approach, icy footprints following him as his hooves continued to steam. With a wary eye kept on the dog, and another on the child, Q halted behind the Onean healer, ears drawn back and expression held as stoic as always. "You are in danger," he started as his chest heaved to catch a full breath of air, his windpipes burning with the stark contrast of the frozen air with his warm body. Rather unconcerned that he'd clearly interrupted a conversation, the stallion plunged onward, "Two thieves draw ever closer to your location, Nivinara, I do not know what they come for for certain, but they seek a valuable prize, of this I am certain. This weather is not to be taken lightly, so they can only have come with one goal, and perhaps, if we are unfortunate enough, it is a common one." It was then that his gaze rested on the walking pieces of cotton near the colt. [ WC: 580 | Post: 1 ]

CHIRIN War-Forged | Herder No sooner had Chirin informed Nivinara about the other Apanas that needed treating, a large, dark stallion had announced his arrival. The colt turned his head towards him, ears pricked forward. Maple had just finished herding the flock into the corral when the new horse had begun speaking to them. Or rather, to Nivinara.
Chirin's brow furrowed at the stallion, hardly registering what he was saying. This stallion wasn't War-Forged, nor had he seen him before. The colt shook his mane, brushing off the conversation and stepping away, about to turn back to his flock. What the stallion said next caused him to halt instantly, eyes wide. Vagabond Thieves were headed right for them in hopes of stealing something of his.
He turned back around to face the stallion, shock and anger battling for dominance. He glanced at the Apanas and it donned on him. “Their wool. White Apana wool is highly profitable because the Merchants don't have to process it as much if the want to make colored threads,” He told them. “I wasn't able to sell all of my wool from the summer. I still have a few bundles left in my storage.” his voice held a nervous edge. Finally, the anger he had been withholding broke through. Chirin pinned his ears, snorting and swishing his tail.
He turned and whistled for Maple to get out of the corral so he could shut the gate. As the small ginger dog exited, he wrapped a chain around the wooden bars and locked it. “C'mon,” he told the two horses as he turned at trotted off towards his home,
“This storm is getting worse and those two might get here soon. If it's a fight they want, I'll gladly give them one,” The colt grabbed his wolf pelt off of a post and flung it over his back, hiding his multiple scars and glancing back at the two older horses, “The only way they'll take what is mine by right, is over my cold, dead body.” His voice was a threatening growl, as if he was daring the two thieves to come. There was a moment of clarity within his mind, but only a moment. Was a few bundles of wool really worth dieing for?

Chirin's Home: Chi's home is basically a ground-level cave with a makeshift wood cabin slapped on to the front. It is lit and warmed by a fireplace at the back and can comfortably fit up to 4 full-grown horses. On the right and left of Chirin's cave home is a thin and sparse fir tree forest and to the front is an open plain which he can see clearly from the front door. About 40 feet from the "house", slightly to the right, is the Apana corral. It is made of thick, woven tree branches with walls that would stand eye level to a 19hh horse. It has a "french door" like gate that is locked with a chain and padlock type thing.

Nivinara | War-Forged | Medic
While they had been discussing the Apana's and those that needed the treatment Nivinara had most certainly not expected to have a large and imposing, but very familiar stallion rush up to them. Q? What was he doing here? She honestly thought she'd never see him again. However it seemed he had a very good reason, even if it was just out of the blue. Vagabond thieves? Coming here? Not after her surely, she had nothing of worth besides a bag full of herbs, but Chirin? Without even thinking of it Nivinara turned to look towards the herd of Apana, knowing very well what these thieves were after now. The price their wool could go for was certainly something of worth, but before she could get a word in to either Chirin or Q, the young colt was already marching away planning a counter attack. "Chirin." She called after him, glancing at Q worriedly before trotting off after him while he pressed on about the situation as they stopped before his quaint home, "Chirin please, these are most likely seasoned fighters..." What could they do? She couldn't fight at all, and it wasn't like Q could fight them off by himself, she would never risk his life for that. She would rather let the thieves have what they want, but it was also Chirin's livelihood, if he lost his wool he would lose his funds. But really, he was too young! She didn't want to insult him, but at his age he was most likely going to get trampled. "We cannot just rush blindly in without knowing what we're up against. Think before you act, please. I don't want to have to treat you as well."

Samba - Vagabond Thief -
It didnt take long for a figure to appear ahead of her. Her ears flattened back, determination set in her cold eyes. She did not come all this way to have someone else get there before her. Her gaze tipped up to the sky once more, the billowing clouds even more threatening than before. She snorted, slowing to a jolting, quick jog as she came closer to the other being. Her gaze flitted over the other mare quickly, taking note of her loud, spectacular markings splashed over her vibrant roaning coat. Slight jealousy found itself boiling in the pit of the dull bay mare's stomach, but it was quickly pushed away by a shake of her head and a reminder of why she was here in the first place. Her eyes narrowed and her head raised as she passed the stranger with a high-stepping gait, before halting a few feet before her. Her long black hair splayed against her legs, her tail held high in her own self-pride. She made sure her thick-bladed knife caught the glimpse of whatever sun was left. "Weather sure is interestin' today." She commented, giving her head a quick jerk to the clouds above and her ears flicking toward the other mare. "Probably not th'best day for a walk." Her muzzle twitched, her lips curling in a frown. She was never good at small talk.
She shot a quick glance in the direction of the farm, and then turned her green eyes back on the roaned stranger. "I s'pose you're not here on the tip, are ya?" She asked, refusing to give away too much information. If this mare was, then she would know exactly what she was talking about. "Cause if so, i'd advise to turn 'round." She snorted, her ears flattening back against her neck. She flicked her tail and narrowed her eyes just a tad. "I got it un'er control." She offered a small pause, her eyes wandering back to the clouds. The oncoming storm did make her a little nervous. Her head dipped down ever so slightly as she stepped closer to the other mare. "Unless you wanna team up." She added in a hushed whisper, as if no one could know she was willingly able to band together with another thief. She knew it would be more beneficial - for both of them - if they could work together and get this done quicker before the storm hit. The mare quirked her brow, her eyes rolling back to the golden mare for an answer.

Valencia ✦ Vagabond ✦ Thief Valencia's path was cut short as the stranger stopped abruptly before her, then commenting about the impending storm in some sort of attempt to make small talk. This mare looked rather menacing, a dark bay with no noticeable white on her, and quite a nasty scar on her chest. Valencia didn't have her pegged as a righteous one, and when she mentioned a so-called "tip" it was then very obvious. Taking an immediate note of the blade tucked on the mare's leg, she knew this was not a fight she would want to get into; this thief had the upper hand. But she needed the money from this heist; something had to happen. Doing what she did best, Valencia put on a stone-cold facade and gave no feasible reaction to the stranger's indirect threats; she would not look weak or afraid. " I take it you've been made aware of a certain value as well?" The wind was now whipping both mares' long manes around them, and snow was beginning to mix in. Glancing to the sky, she spoke again, almost not hearing the quiet suggestion the darker mare made, " Under control, huh- Wait what?" When she realized what the thief said, she looked at her with a raised brow, " You're asking me to help you?" Valencia snorted, " And how am I supposed to trust you? I don't know who you are, hell I don't even know your name. All I know is you're just a bandit.." she paused and looked to the side, then returned her gaze, " ..Like myself." The roan mare analyzed the situation for a moment, speaking lower, " I suppose you don't really have any reason to trust me either then.." Why would this brigand ask for my help? She looks very capable on her own.. But this storm.. Then it hit her. " This storm.. It'll turn into a blizzard soon, no doubt." Valencia locked the mare's olive eyes, " Neither of us will be successful alone.. Make a deal with me, honor it, and if we make it out of this okay.. We split goods fifty-fifty." Another pause and she sighed, " Deal?" Damn it Val, what are you thinking?..

[ "Q" | Vindicator ] [ post: 2 | WC: 278 ]
Q's gaze was drawn from Nivinara when the smaller roan colt spoke up, explaining the value of his herd and the wool the fluffy creatures produced. He had spirit he had to give him that. The dark stallion's ears flicked backwards at the mention of fighting and dead bodies. With a sigh befitting an exasperated Elder, Q was about to try and reason with him, but the spotted mare beat him to it. He'd caught her worried glance, and he certainly agreed with what she said. "Aye, young one, it is best that we not rush into the situation. I am more than capable of fighting, and I have a blessing on my side but I am one stallion against two," he grunted lowly, half-blind gaze staring after them as they moved to what must have been the colt's home.
The Vindicator chose to keep his distance, standing away from them, and deciding not to go inside should the two of them choose to. "Neither of you should fight, but if it comes to it I most certainly will," Q growled, his tail flicking with irritation. "I won't permit stealing or unnecessary harm if I can't help it. . ." The last sentence was quieter than the others, likely blown away by the wind. Q fixed his eyes on the snow-draped landscape. Narrowing his eyes, the shape of two horses took form, moving closer and closer to the humble farm. "They are coming." Lips drawn to reveal his teeth, Q moved to intercept them, standing before the paddock and between the other two horses. This will not be so easy, he hissed to himself.

As Chirin stepped up to the door of his home with Maple at his heels, he turned to face the Stallion, having heard what he said about the Thieves approaching,
“Not meaning any disrespect, sir, but I didn't get these scars or this pelt by simply leading a flock of Apanas around Onea for half a year,” the colt said in a smooth voice that was plain and didn't express any emotion other than calm, “I am in the process of training with a retired Shield, who is also the father of a Valkyrie. I know how to fight, and if all this leads to one, I won't hesitate.” the colt swished his tail and the ginger dog seated herself at his front hooves, looking up at the horses around her,
Chirin's posture suddenly changed. His facial expression became more stern as he arched his neck and straightened his form, looking past the stallion and directly at the two soon-to-be trespassers. His posture was one of dignity and nobility, with no small amount of self-pride and bravery. “I don't ask for a fight, but this is my home. It's all I have. I don't even have a family to share it with anymore. I appreciate and respect you for your willingness to fight them both so we don't have to, but I refuse to just sit and watch. Blessing or not, sir, you are still just one horse and they are two,”
He turned to face Nivinara, giving her a small smile, “I will speak to them first. I won't just charge right in without at least hearing them out. Maybe we can come to an agreement so we won't have to fight at all.”
He started walking past the stallion, to meet the Thieves himself. He would reach them before they reached the corral, commanding Maple to stay, before turning back to look at the stallion, “I'm Chirin, by the way.”

Nivinara | War-Forged | Medic
Stallions were so stubborn! Nivinara frowned at both stallions as the spoke about the thieves and how both would gladly fight should it come to it. Of course they would, fighting was always the answer wasn't it? No one could ever just talk it out. But even she knew she was being unreasonable as well. Thieves would not talk, nor would they run from a fight if the price is worth it. They would fight back for Chirin's wares so there was no way to avoid it, unless the storm scared them off, but surely they would have turned around by now if that were the case. Nivinara looked down at the young colt, her worry growing, but at least he was willing to be civil and try to talk. She would still rather not have them fight at all. She wanted to avoid it, but others did not share the same idea of peace as her. Although... She glanced at Q, figuring she really couldn't say anything about him. He had witnessed this plenty of times before, and with his stance she knew, there was no escaping a confrontation with these horses. There would be a fight, whether physical or not she was prepared to help should they need it. Even if she couldn't fight herself, she would try if it gave one of the stallions time to recover. "Just be careful..." She murmured as the colt started to walk past Q, heading directly towards the Thieves. Oh what a stupidly brave colt he was...

Samba - Vagabond Thief -
Damn, this mare talks a lot, the bay mare thought as she watched all the sudden realizations take place upon the painted's face. A smirk crossed her own when she revealed that she, too, was a thief. Knew it. Her brow quirked as the other asked for a deal, one ear shifting back. Samba turned her gaze to the sky, a rouge snowflake landing softly on her muzzle. She hadnt expected the weather to turn this quickly. A nervous hitch caught in her heart- would they still be able to succeed with the two of them. However, the bay mare nodded, locking the other thief right in the eye. "Damn weather's catchin' up to us." She sighed with a roll of her sharp olive eyes. "Better make this quick... n' deal."
Samba didnt wait for a reply, as she really didnt want to give this other mare a chance to think about what she had just tangled herself into.. nor did she want to deal with formalities, small talk. She was all about business at this point.. and on double time, now that the weather was starting to get a nasty bite in its haste. But lets be honest, she didnt really care what her new partner's name was or where she came from or all that nonsense others tend to talk about when they meet someone new.. she was mainly interested in getting out with the goods. She stepped to the side and passed the mare, her long tail swishing aimlessly behind her as she directed them in their path. "I s'pose you didnt check out the place b'fore hand?" She finally piped up, giving a glance behind her shoulder. "Cause if not, we'll be goin' in blind.. I was gonna wing it." Her confidence was evident in her tone and her pose. She had charged in blindly many times before like this, and it rarely went wrong. Whats one more time?
