The fall weather was cool, just how Perrin liked it. She loved the feeling of the cool breeze playing through her thick grey coat; the coat that never seemed to shed, no matter how hot the sun beat down on her back. Luckily for her, the sun had started to sink. Its light still kissed the sky, but it was no longer warming the earth, making way for the moon and stars to take its place.
Perrin laid before the fire she had built, its light dancing against her face and chest. A blanket made of bear pelts was strewn across her back, only a half attempt at covering herself. She was rather content with the weather, after all. She didnt need the pelts, they were just there for comfort. Preston had left earlier that morning, and still had not returned. Perrin found herself worrying over her brother, as she knew how much trouble loved to follow him around, but she did her best to keep her nerves down and out of her throat. He was fine. He was always fine.
Laying on the ground before her was her notebook. A quill pen was held in the soft stormy blue glow of her teke. She had just finished writing her notes for the day, but found herself wanting to write more. Sighing softly to herself, she glanced toward the sky. Despite the sun being very much present, she could see some of the stars start to appear where the sky was darkest.
Rolling onto her back, she held her journal and pen above her, biting her tongue as she started to copy the pattern of the stars into the margins of her pages. She had become quite lost in her drawings, forgetting where she was for a moment. It wasnt until she heard the snap and crack of a couple tree branches did she return to reality.
"Preston?" She called out, rolling back onto her side and tucking her legs beneath her in case she had to spring up. Even if it wasnt her brother, typically her voice would ward off those looking for an easy raid.

The sun was turning a blissful pink and the wind was cool blowing through Juniper's short coat, just how she loved it; as a traveler it was always a blessing. Trading had its ups and downs, the hot weather during the summer months was the worst, especially on an equine carrying heavy saddle bags and bundles upon her back. Another blessing in disguise was War Lords road, Juniper had traveled it only a few times over the last few months hauling bundles of goods up the mountain, it had forests to wander through; the tress provided great shade from the harsh sun beating down on her darker colored coat.
Juniper kept a steady trot along the pathway set before her, dodging and weaving obstacles when necessary; her hooves beat a quiet tempo upon the ground creating a quiet but unusual melody she was used to hearing. Upon her back sat one pair of saddle bags laden with freshly bound books, quills, and other useful tools for scholars; on top of those bags and the rest of her back were tied up bundles of cooler cloth straight from her family's band in Serora. Juniper decided to slow her pace to a walk, it was getting dark after all and she didn't want to trip over anything, right? That was the excuse she told herself as to not wound her own pride; she prided herself on being quick and efficient but alas she'd run into some trouble a little ways back with a large bear who thought it funny to block her path for a long while. Now she was later than she should have been and she didn't want to be on War Lord's Road at night.
Pushing the negative thoughts to the back of her mind she started to look for a safe spot to camp for the night along the side of the path, her eyes darting to and fro. After a few minutes she found a decent enough looking spot to set her precious cargo down when she heard a rustling from the bushes ahead of her; it was better to keep her back to the open road rather than the closed off forest foliage. Tipping her head, Juniper, flicked her ears forward trying to gauge what was causing the flora to rustle like that.
"Silly me." she grumbled to herself "Look at me, jumping at sounds like a scared little filly!" a small whinny of amusement left her throat as she continued to set up a small camp. It wasn't until another rustle came, sounding a lot closer, that she thought it might be a good idea to choose another location; there's no telling what could be in the forests roaming at night.
