In the blazing heat of the summer sun, there was oddly not much for a colt to do. On a day where Corinth would usually be glued to his mother's side, or maybe his tutor, or even near his brother, the colt found that none of these three horses were available for him to hang around with. Mother was at work, obviously and wouldn't be back until late at night. Gortyn was off completing his training as a squire--his graduation date was looming overhead as the summer began to reach its peak. As for Corinth's tutor, it was his day off, and although there were other servants who were around, they didn't have time for the antics of a ten-year-old. So Corinth excused himself from lunch that noon and withdrew into the courtyard, where no one was around saved for a gardener tending the flowers.
A wooden staff held in his telekinetic hand, Corinth contemplated the horse-shaped dummy that hung from the rafters of the small gazebo which sat at the courtyard's center. Occasionally the brightly colored colt would leap up and swing as hard as he could at his target, causing it to swish wildly in the air. Hitting a dummy got boring after a while when there wasn't anyone else around; Corinth was getting quite tired of doing it and the baking heat of the sun was making him sweat a little (a few strands of hair began to frizz from his mane).
It was when he paused to catch his breath that the voice of one of the servants came from behind.
"Master Corinth, you have a visitor--a family member."
"Huh?" The colt turned his head slightly towards the voice, dropping the wooden sword at an instant. Did Mother come back early? No, they would have said it was her already. He didn't even entertain the idea that it was Larissa. He dreaded that it would be Kavala.
"Don't keep her waiting." The speaker, a tall silver stallion with a rather thin body, beckoned the colt over, to which Corinth obeyed. Without another word, he led his charge into the mansion where it felt icy cool in comparison to the afternoon heat, and to the entrance room where guests of the house were usually waiting. Corinth stopped just short of the door as the other stallion stepped inside for a moment.
"He's here," he announced. Then stepping out, the silver horse turned his head to Corinth. "If you two need me, I'll be down the hall. Be civil, alright?"
It took Corinth's willpower to not roll his eyes at the servant. Of course, he wouldn't be anything but nice to a family member--even if they might be snobs most of the time; why even say that? But the colt merely nodded politely at the other horse and peered around the corner to see who it was.
To his relief, it wasn't his aunt.

Angelica huffed. When her father dropped her off, he said she was to socialize with her younger cousins... Nothing on who it was, or which part of the family she was supposed to grow closer to. Oh, how all she wanted to do was head down to the docs and hear the stories of the sailors... Or to try and find a traveling merchant to chat with them... Maybe learn a bit about running a business... Ignacio only knew how much better her siblings were at math and management. But regardless of her thoughts, her father called the shots, and he's the one who dropped her off here. She hummed as she stood waiting in the foyer until the servant entered and announced her cousin's arrival. "Of course." She nodded, looking over at the door, smiling.

"Hi Angelica," Corinth beamed at his cousin as he entered the room without hesitation, clumsily cantering over to her. Of all the family members that the colt knew, Angelica sort of was one of the nicer few out there despite not being particularly close to her. Though he wasn't really sure why she and her family was here in the first place, at least someone (sort of) interesting had come to visit. But...
Corinth blinked a couple of times. Angelica was most certainly alone.
"What's going on?" the colt inquired, peering around the room as if Angelica's parents and siblings were mysteriously playing hide-and-go-seek around the house. "Is it just you?"
