For once, the councilor was smiling. It wasnt one of pure joy like he had had in his youth. It was one that was tired, but still with a full heart. The past events had been hard on Talori was a whole, himself included, as he felt the weight of their problems on his shoulders. The emperor had been killed by terrorists, Cascade had come upon them and told them of their wrong doings, and the herd was.. changing. Pegasi were allowed where they werent before.. Sacrifices had been ended.. It was a lot to take in for the Talorians, Ciardha included, but it was change. And change was what the councilor knew they needed.
He still did not trust the winged folks, and he knew there were others out there like him. However, he wanted to push that all to the back of his mind, at least for now. Now, it was time for celebration. A new empress had been crowned, Talori was taking their first step into a new direction. It was time to ignore the struggles of the past, even if it was just for one day.
The councilor found himself standing at the shoreline, watching as competitors shot into the water during free dives. Cheers admitted from others who watched as well when a diver made it further or deeper than the one before. It was a fun competition to watch and if it wasnt for Ciardha's deep rooted fear in the deeper waters, he would try for it as well. It had been so long since he had felt the ocean on his fins..
Many times, actually, he had felt himself start to take a step toward the cliff, but found himself planted instead, unable to to move. For now, he was content with his place on the beach, despite his heart yearning for the water. The waved lapped at his hooves and he played with them, engaging his blessing to pick up parts of the water and stretch it apart before dropping it back to his hooves. A child had noticed this manipulation and with unbridled curiosity, trotted over to the councilor and begged for him to do it again.
With a smile, Ciardha pulled at the water again, making shapes and figures dance before the child's wide eyes.

The Days within captivity had finally come to an end. For far too long they had suffered at the hooves of the flight, at the plight of the emperor and what he had tried to do. How could this not have been seen coming? The winged kin within her home... Their fear and anguish had been felt by many for so long it was only a matter of time before their backs finally broke. Arriving back home had felt like a calm wave of relief, her body visibly relaxing as she stepped through the doors and took care of the dust and grim of neglect. At least it was still standing...
Though as Cascade, her Goddess descended down from the heavens, her very being felt completely unworthy. The Wave Mother herself... Tears poured from her eyes, feeling the anguish, despair and anger flow from her form. There was little the mare could do to ask for her forgiveness for her herd. They had drifted, drifted so far from the vision for them. Then, without skipping a beat her sister had been called upon to lead them, given the burden so many longed to posses but few could be worthy. Her sister... Tears fell harder, knowing Thalassa was the perfect fit. But what did that make her now?
The celebrations quickly took over the herd, igniting a new surge of life through them. Gentle smiles left her, head dipping in silence greeting to those around her as she walked once more through her home. But she knew what she was searching for, who she was searching for.
Her love.
Too long they had been separated and all she longed to do as press against his side and know that everything was ok now. As she neared the beach, feeling the pull, the mare finally glimpsed the dark stallion and let out a small nicker as tears burned her eyes, threatening to fall. "Ciardha?" Her voice had never been more tight then it was now, wishing with all of her being that it was truely him standing before her.

"Ciardha?"
The sound of his name had caused him to startle, as he had been too far caught up in his own little games with the water. He almost dropped the water he was holding on the child before him, but caught it just in time, the liquid hovering over the colt's muzzle. Chuckling quietly to himself, he pulled the water away and dropped it back in the ocean as the waves lapped at his hooves.
He turned toward the sound of his name, ears flicked forward in curiosity. He hadnt recognized the voice at first, as it was tight and sad. However, when his gaze fell upon the mare, she was easily recognizable as Marilla. The mare who had been the first to capture his heart after the death of his wife when he felt as though it had long since closed. When he had started to lose hope, she had appeared. She had opened her home for him, cared for him, and provided companionship. He thought he would never see her again, and he regretted not taking her out of Torrine with him every day.
"M-Marilla?" The councilor never struggled with his words, yet here he was, fumbling over his own tongue. He ushered the colt away, telling him to return to his family, before turning back toward Marilla and trotted toward her, only stopping when his chest collided with hers as he wrapped her in a hug.
He took a moment to take in the scent of her hair before pulling away and wiping the tears from her eyes. "My dear, i thought i would never see you again." He said quietly.

The dainty mare still still, watching as the dark hippocampus stumbled about in his actions. But tears fell solidly down her face as he spoke her name. It was truly him. She had assumed him dead as she had not been able to find any sign of his existence once the flock took over. His warmth consumed her, driving soft sobs from her and into his neck as she pressed close, wrapping around him as much as she could. He was here, alive.
The mare had of course cleaned herself up and wore a few pieces of jewelry and some fine silks that hadn't been destroyed. A flower of pearls and metal decorated her mane and she felt his nose brush over it. Head lifted, finally meeting her loves eyes. "I could say the same for you..." She whispered weakly, giggling past the relief that was flooding her form. "I could only hope that they had left you alone... That they hadn't taken out their aggression on those we hold highest in the herd..." Her hoof rose only to place it down beside his own. Nose brushed against the others, wanting to be so much closer, but knowing the displays of affection had to be subtle in public.

He felt her place her hoof next to him as he brushed away her tears, a soft smile finding his lips. It was then that he wished that Talori wasnt so stickler about displays of affection, as he wanted to stay this close forever; but instead, he put a soft kiss on the mare's forehead before taking a step back, his tail flicking at his ankles.
"I was unharmed." He assured her with a nod, pushing his glasses back up his nose. "I actually.. managed to get out with a small group." He paused, again wishing he had been able to find her and take her with him. Everything would have been.. far less stressful. "I cant say the same for the others, though." He had felt bad leaving them behind, but he knew those in the Wilds would need a friendly face, and the councilor was the one for that job. If only he had known how much it would tear him apart.
His gaze shifted back to Marilla, looking over her greying coat to make sure that she, too, was unharmed. He let out a soft sigh in relief, finding not a scratch in her coat. However, thats how most of them had been. Not damaged physically, but more emotionally. Confinement did nothing but harm to the soul.
His ears flicked as he heard a splash and cheers behind him, turning his head to see the tail of a hippocampus disappearing into the water from what he assumed as a successful dive. He turned back to Marilla with a smile, his ears pressing contently to the side.
"But lets forget about all that. At least for the day." He said. They could go over their struggles and pain later, it was time to have at least a little bit of happiness. "Lets enjoy the celebration, my love."

With the way everything had shaped up to be, she was just relieved that there wasn't as many physical injuries as their could have been. Another tine step and the mare couldn't help but press the length of her face against his shoulder. He was really here again... Tail flicked, a small hoof lifting as she attempted to press closer but inside she drew away. Breathing in, she took once last deep inhale of his scent and then looked out towards the water.
The splash made a sweet smile cross her face, longing to feel the ocean all around her once more. Nodding in a gentle agreement the rose grey Oracle stepped along side her love and moved with him towards those jumping from the cliffs edge. "My love... Will you jump with me? I have longed to feel the ocean all around me and the way they are celebrating up there looks so perfect." Head tips up, large eyes pleading. She would do it on her own but she would much rather celebrate with the one she has missed for so long. He looked exhausted and so weary but when did he not? Muzzle pressed gentle against his wither in a fleeting touch of encouragement. She knew she had already shown too much affection for the public but she just could not help herself.
They where finally together again.
