Setting:
Talori | Inaria | Agricultural District
Ali and her Aunt Phoebe have been away from their home in the AG district for 6 months, taking refuge in the Wilds. With the city reclaimed by the Talorians, it's finally safe to return home. Thankfully, the house, green house, and gardens remained intact through the battles. But everything has grown over, and there is much weeding to be done. The green house was taken care of first, as they were behind on planting for spring flowers. Now Ali is tackling the weeds at The Hedge, Aunt Phoebe's beloved public garden with multiple sections. A few contemporary art statues from craftsmen friends are scattered about. A few of the Koi fish even made it through on their own in the water garden, the center piece of The Hedge.
Isykle was recently adopted by Councilor Nagisa. Coming from Honeywater, the capital is a strange place to her. So naturally she goes exploring, keeping to the thick foliage.

Ali
Ali breathed in deeply one of her favorite smells in all of Talori. The earth after a rain shower. Which meant the soil was just right for weeding. The young flaxen, seal bay mare stood at the entrance of the The Hedge, a round opening in the tall surrounding hedge bushes with a cast iron, scroll work sign at the top with the garden’s name in whimsical letters. It was Aunt Phoebe’s pride and joy.
Before the war with the Flight, this garden was the gem of the local neighborhood. Many of the Agricultural Ward would come seeking repose, rejuvenation, a quiet study spot, a romantic picnic date, or a place to worship Kaia. There was an abstract statue of Kaia made by a popular artisan who was a very close friend of Aunt Phoebe. It could be found in a quiet little side section of the garden so as to offer some privacy for those coming to pray. Some of the visiting Agriculturalists even added their own touch to the garden, donating plants from their own farms. One particular horse who was a sea based Agriculturalist had helped in the design and construction of the water garden that bubbled through the very center of the park. How many of those familiar faces were now gone because of the war? It seemed like with every happy discovery of a returning friend followed the news that one more had been lost. It wasn’t in Ali’s nature to be a hateful horse, but she did hate what the war had done to her community, the lives that had been lost. But as ever, she was optimistic. Things were not as bad as the Wilds. They were back in their home with modern comforts, and didn’t have to fear the attack of beasts anymore. And it certainly wasn’t as horrible as when she had been separated from her aunt and sent to Torrine. That really was the worst. And now her Pegasus friends were finally going to be recognized as equals, something Ali had been praying for since she had been old enough to understand the teachings of Kaia. To be compassionate to ALL horses. Ali walked over to Kaia’s statue with her wheelbarrow and gardening tools. The Earth Mother was depicted at half scale with all hooves planted firmly on her raised pedestal, a kind expression on her face. She was made of brown marble with dark veins and small flecks of fool’s gold running through the stone. The artist had applied copper plating through the goddess’s mane, tail, horn, and hooves so that the natural light green patina could bloom over time. Ali bowed her head in respect to the goddess before beginning her inspection of the area. After six months with no care or attention, the weeds and tall grasses had started to take over the garden, and it almost looked as if Kaia herself had summoned the plants to grow around her. Ali actually kind of like it like that. Maybe she could just pull out the weeds and then just slightly groom the grass directly around Kaia’s statue. She would have to ask Aunt Phoebe later for her opinion. Aunt Phoebe was currently in the greenhouse, patching up a few new leaks they discovered in the building since last night’s rainfall, and then she was going to continue planting flowers. Ali checked on the hibiscus tree behind the goddess’s statue only to gasp in horror at a vine beginning to wrap around the tree trunk. “ Oh no you don’t! Not today!” Ali pulled the dreadlocks of her forelock back into a small ponytail at the crown of her head, and gathered the rest of her mane in a much bulkier ponytail tied at her withers. She grabbed a hoe from the wheelbarrow and waved it threatenly at the perpetrator. “ You’re going down, you sneaking creep. You picked the wrong garden to take up residence in,” she loudly declared at the offending vine. She raised the hoe high, prepared to strike when the fluttering leaves of the vine caught her attention. She peered closer. And something triggered in her naturist memory bank. “ Oh my, you’re not just any vine, are you?” Ali cooed to the vine, putting down her hoe. “ You’re a pretty little baby Wisteria vine, aren’t you? Well aren’t you just so precious, coming in here while we were all away, trying to grow up all by yourself. But you can’t be taking over Mrs. Hibiscus like this. No, no, no. She’s got seniority over you, you know. I’ll make you a nice trellis so you can grow along the hedge around Kaia. How does that sound?” Post: 1

ISYKLE
The days lately had been unpredictable and eventful, but not always in a good way. It was more often then not that she found herself alone and isolated. The large adult hippocampus, Nagisa, had been trying her best but with a house full of orphans it seemed she was struggling to make sure everyone got the time they needed. Thadeus had been great but even he was getting annoyed with not always having his borth mothers attention and while Isykle knew she should seek more attention, the events of that night made her scared to ask for it.
The rains had been strong and the ground soaked through, oozing mud and large puddles. She had been caked in the liquid dirt by the time someone had found her, sobbing and alone. Arianna's care takers had finally found out she had been hiding away and for some reason, even though she was a hippocampus like the lot of them, they had run her out and driven her away from her friend. Owain, a small colt she had stumbled across before had found her sobbing in his backyard and all but got his father to drag her inside. Daemyn had washed her off and set her by the fire, the small colt bringing her all sorts of his toys to try to cheer her up.
Once the storm was over word was given to Nagisa that Thadeus's friend needed a new place to stay and thus the young equine was granted shelter. Yet now her days where long and mostly ignored, leaving her to find something to do to waste the time. Today was no exception.
Hooves carried her forward, exploring the thick under growth and foliage that made up this new city. She still did not like walking through the streets without one of her friends with her and so the brush it was. But it got confusing and soon the young mare stumbled hard into a garden clearly over run. Yet hearing a voice call out angrily Isykle dashed back into the bushes, her hooves finding purchase on the soft ground. Only, the voice did not follow her... Peeking out, her teal eyes glimpsed a normal equine, talking to the plants. Head tipped and she slowly stepped out from the brush.
"Excuse me..." She tried to speak quietly, so as not to startle the other. "Can... I look around?"

Ali The months surviving in the Wilds had made Ali's senses more in tune. A good pair of ears could mean a big difference in a jungle filled with dangerous raptors. However, the small equine who she could hear stumble into the garden was a welcome visitor, even if the current state of the Hedge left something to be desired. “ Excuse me,” the quiet voice of a filly spoke from behind her. “ Can … I look around?” “ Oh Kaia, how embarrassing. The garden is a mess right now,” Ali said as she moved around the goddess’s statue to greet her visitor. “ What with hiding in the Wilds for the past six months, this place has started to look like a wilds of it’s own-KIRIN! The blue scales and tiny horns of her young visitor were not unknown to Ali. She had met and lived with a kirin at the temple in the Wilds. Krein was his name. Despite all the terrifying stories she had grown up with about the great war with Ignacio and his kirins, Ali had been more curious about him than anything else. Sure, he was a little gruff and rough around the edges, but he had become a dear part of their little herd in the Wilds and had proved himself to be an honorable horse time and time again. Most recently when he had helped Ali rescue horses in the aftermath of the battle that had won back their country from the Flock. " I apologize; I didn’t mean to yell,” Ali dipped her head at the filly. “ I just wasn’t expecting, well, you!” Her voice gradually became more excited and her words started to string together as she talked faster. “ You’re a kirin, aren’t you? Just like my friend Krein. We thought he was the only one. Just wait until I tell him! Of course, you two just HAVE to meet. Your blue scales are pretty by the way. They're like a Cascade blue. Cascade blue is my favorite color. And aqua green. Krein has aqua green scales. I'm Ali by the way. I like to talk if you couldn't tell." Post: 2 | WC: 356
