Aubrey | War-Forged | Bloody Flank Merchant
It was another night when she awoke with a scream in her throat that she pushed down as her eyes settled on the sleeping forms of her fellow Bloody Flanks around her. She was among her people, not with him. She was safe. No one here was going to beat her, tear her wings, or force her to do anything with them that she didn't want to do.
Sweat dripped down her pelt, a sign that she had probably been tossing and turning long before she had been woken up from her nightmare by a vision of her worst fear: her ex-husband coming to retrieve her. A shudder ran through her as she rose on stiff legs and walked away from camp, the early morning sun rising on the horizon. The metal of her prosthetic leg clicked on the hard ground underneath her, but Aubrey didn't notice. Her thoughts were clouded with haunting memories of her past and the near-death experience she had in order to escape her past life. Her scars still showed what she had been through- what he had done to her.
It seemed these nightmares were becoming more and more common for her, and even in the daylight, her mind was plagued with paranoia and panic that her fears would one day become true. 'I can't live like this... I can't stand this hanging over my head any longer.' The Blacksmith laid a telekinetic grip on the war hammer at her side, comforted by the familiar weight. She'd learned to take care of herself from an early age when her parents had abandoned her, but she had always been pathetically insecure and needing acceptance. Her parents had thought she was a deformed freak, and her ex-husband had treated her like a baby-maker and punished her when she wasn't successful. It had taken a long time for her confidence to grow, and the Bloody Flanks had helped her with that. Aubrey could take care of herself, but with the task she had in mind, she might need a helping hand.
There were rumors of a mercenary in the area that was up for hire if you had enough shards to pay them, and with her successful business as a Blacksmith and never really spending much money, she had accumulated plenty. Now all Aubrey had to do was find them.
Unfolding her leathery wings with a snap as they caught on the cold air coming from the water, the spotted mare took to the sky, knowing where she wanted to start her search first. There was a bar just outside of Skeldr Town, and if there was someone who knew this assassin, Aubrey had a feeling it would be there.

Andraste; Vagabond | Mercenary "The moon is my sun. The night is my day. Blood is my life and you are my prey."
Andraste, well if you ask them, will claim that they have managed to blend in pretty well with the brutish and sexist herd of the War-Forged; having developed a thick Onean accent of their own, most didn't question where the multi-colored Pegasus came from. Herd matters and life was something Andraste could never quite want to be apart of but something about the Forged always drew them into the colder climate. On top of it all, the Forged seemed to have the best drinks and that was plenty enough reason for the Macaw pegasus to make occasional visits to various bars.
And that would be exactly where they could be found at this very moment; slowly making their way through their second drink and trying not to pay too much attention to the roughhousing that was taking place around them. Rough and tough. The Forged would always have as much respect from Andraste as they could give.
But coming to a bar; coming to a place that required social interaction was something that was always done as if it were a business deal between the patrons and the Merc. Andraste had a mother to tend to and said mother required various medications and other necessities to keep her broken wings from hurting any more than they already do. One of the best parts that Andraste has learned about having primary colored wings is that it draws in others like flies to honey.
Just go look for the brightly winged Pegasus. Hard to miss. Or look for the Pegasus with bits of blood in their hair if you can't find their wings.
It attracted the attention of others like a beacon. A beacon that screamed, "I can make someone disappear for you if you got the shards." What a good way to word what they are. An assassin for hire. A dagger in the dark. "Want me to snap someone's neck? I can do that too." Andraste looks up briefly from their drink, ears swiveling towards the sound of the door to the bar opening- great, another idiot to yell and roughhouse with everyone else in the bar.
Then their pale eyes catch the figure and their blonde brows go up into a concerned manner before their face turns stone cold once again.
She seemed to be in distress. Something must've seriously shook her being, and Its the wounds on her bat like wings that catch Andraste's attention first; to have one's wings damaged was never a fun ordeal. They knew that best than most as Andraste watched her mother wither in pain when the meds weren't strong enough. The Merc feels a soft twinge of pain shoot through their body as they turn their attention back to their drink.
Whoever that is seems to be looking for something. Or perhaps someone.

Aubrey | War-Forged | Bloody Flank Merchant
Word of mouth had brought her to this bar on the outskirts of Skeldr Town. She had been to the rustic establishment on more than one occasion, knowing that this was the place where shady business deals were made. She herself had been here before to sell some of her work to criminals and illegals because who didn't need a custom blade or armor more than someone running from the law.
Aubrey had come here for more selfish reasons today however. She needed peace-of-mind. She needed to get rid of any chance that her ex-husband came looking for her. Unable to live with the haunting memories of him and thinking about him still being out there somewhere, Aubrey needed an assassin. An assassin that could give her what she wanted- his life.
He was a ruthless bastard, and Aubrey knew that he would be relentless in trying to get her back. After all, she was his property in his eyes, and she had stolen herself from him. She couldn't bring herself to search for the answer to whether or not he was hunting after her. The thought of her search leading to her in his grasp again made her stomach churn.
With dark rings under her eyes that showed her countless sleepless nights, she entered the bar in search of the pegasus with brightly colored wings that could be the answer to her prayers. Her gaze swept over the horses inside the candle-lit room, studying the variety of equine that drank and spoke around small tables or at the wooden bar. It would have been an interesting show if her mind wasn't fuzzy from lack of sleep and the anxiety nipping at her stomach. Oh how she hated that he still had such power over her! Well, the time had almost come for her to start a new chapter in her life. Maybe she'd even move on from her fears of opening up to someone again... maybe if someone was strong enough to get past her physical and mental scars.
As her eyes traveled over the bar, she finally spotted who she was looking for. The Bloody Flank could see their parrot wings from across the crowd of rough-housing War-Forged brutes, and she slowly made her way across the bar, her telekinesis resting on the handle of her war-hammer. One could never be too careful after all.
The spotted mare walked up beside the other pegasus and called the bartender over to order her favorite drink, a shot of whiskey, which she downed in one quick motion. Setting the glass back down on the bar, Aubrey tossed some shards at the bartender who nodded his thanks before she gave a sideways glance at the horse beside her, studying the flecks of blood in their mane. Aubrey set the pouch of shards on the wood between them.
"I have a job for you if you'll take it."

Andraste; Vagabond | Mercenary "The moon is my sun. The night is my day. Blood is my life and you are my prey."
Andraste glances up from their drinks, gazing through light eyelashes at the equine that has taken a spot next to them. Its the faint ringing of shards hitting against each other that catches their attention. Now that was a good way to start a conversation. The corners of their lips turn up slightly. The Merc lets a soft hum fall from their lips- signalling that their attention has been caught. This strange mare had Andrate's full and undivided attention at the moment. "You got my attention," Andraste hums. Their lips turn up into a grim; twisting up into a dark smirk at the fact of what was about to play out. "Whatcha need done?" They quickly tack on; their grin only getting bigger as they gaze sideways towards the bat-winged pegasus nest to them. Andraste was fully aware of what was aout to be asked of them. People only came to them for hit jobs. Get rid of someone for me. I never want to see this person again. But who exactly had caused this equine to want to place a hit on their head? That was always the best part of the Merc's job- trying to piece together who and what had done someone so wrong that they felt the need to whip someone of the face of the earth. The Merc waits patiently for her response. Turning up their drink, Andraste takes one more swift glup of their liquir; entertaining themselves as they took in their possible new employer. Looking for any tale-tale signs that might lead to why exactly this tired looking mare might want to hire someone like them. Something had to be keeping them up at night. Something had to have wrecked this mare's life so bad that it has formed dark rings under her eyes. Poor thing.
A death of another sometimes does equal peace of mind, and Andraste wonders for a moment if that was what this hit was about. A soft snorts falls from them as they cock an eyebrow up even father. What was the story behind this? Not like it really mattered. But Andraste was sure they would find out eactly what was going on behind this hit at some point. The way the bat-winged Pegasus wings are torn causes Andraste's stomach to turn into knots. That looked like that had to hurt. The Macaw Pegasus wonders if that had been enough to ground her at one point. Possibly. Andraste comes to the conclusion as they tear their pale eyes away from the mare next to them. Now who could get so low as hurting one's wings? A sick bastard, perhaps.

Aubrey | War-Forged | Bloody Flank Merchant
Aubrey knew how to get the attention of a lawbreaker, and the sound thud of the pouch of shards was enough to make even those walking by glance over at the two of them. She'd had dealings with the unlawful before. As a blacksmith for the Bloody Flanks, she often sold weapons and armor to whoever needed it and paid the highest which meant that at times her works ended up in the hands of outlaws. It never bothered her to know that her weapons would possibly be used to hurt others. She was doing whatever she had to do in order to survive but paying for an assassin to kill someone for her, no matter how much she despised them, weighed down on her conscience.
'No... this needs to be done. I'll never be able to live my life with him still out there among the living.'
The spotted mare turned her scarred face toward the assassin, evaluating the dark smile that had crept onto the pegasus's face. "I need you to take care of someone for me... I can't live knowing that he's out there any longer. I need what he did to me and what he's doing to others like me to stop plaguing me, and the only way to do that is to have his life ended." Her voice was a harsh whisper that grew in intensity with each passing moment until she ended with a snort.
"I have all the details that you need to find him... but I have to ask... can I be there?" Aubrey asked, her light-colored eyes almost pleading with the horse beside her. She was normally not like this. She was a strong individual who was accustomed to taking charge and doing whatever it took in order to live, but something about even the memory of him brought out the submissive side of her... the side he had beaten and carved up with his knife. "I need to see it done. I want him to know exactly who brought him to death's door for the awful deeds he has done."

Andraste; Vagabond | Mercenary "The moon is my sun. The night is my day. Blood is my life and you are my prey." Andraste listens patiently, taking in each word as they stare at the wall behind the mare- looking almost through her as she speaks. But even though it looks as if the Merc isn't really paying any attention, it's apparent by the way their face twists up at the strange request that they have been listening to the mare the entire time.
Surprising. Certainly not what they had expected to hear. A strange request and for the most part Andraste would normally turn away any requests for being there to watch the deed be done. Simply out of the fact that most not be able to stomach the sight of someone's life being taken away. Their smirk flatters slightly, having been caught a little off guard by the words that left the mare's mouth, but they quickly recover their composure before letting the soft smirk return to their face.
"Odd," Andraste speaks their mind, letting a light eyebrow jut up in a mix of confusion and wonder. That's all they voice on the matter to begin with, tossing the idea around inside the back of their mind as they take in the leather-winged Pegasus some more. There's a pleading look to her eyes; something Andraste is not accustomed to seeing when someone requests their services. A soft sigh falls from their lips as they turn from facing the mare; tossing their options over in their mind.
Vengence. Maybe more along the lines of revenge? But a look like that doesn't come with something along those lines. Andraste lets out a loud huff of air; it flicks their blonde bangs up and out of their face. Who was Andraste to judge? They certainly were not in the position to judge the request; maybe if they had been someone holier than thou but alas, they were not. So Andraste only gives the mare next to them a lopsided grin, teeth flashing in the dim light of the tavern.
"Normally it's nothing something I'd agree to," Andraste begins, watching the mare's face carefully for any signs of disappointment or anger. They pause, thinking their words over once again in their mind as they search for just the right thing to say in this situation. For once, the Merc is at a lost for words, mind running a mile a minute as they search for something -anything- that they can say.
"But, I guess I can make an exception." Andraste finally says, clicking their tongue against the roof of their mouth, "Seems like it's real important to you. And I'm not gonna pressure you on why and who he was to you," Andraste studies the scars on the mare's face with a gentle expression, "But if that's what you need to be at ease, then you can come."
I hope you can stomach it," Andraste finishes.
