He had woken up that morning, the same as any morning. He rolled out of bed, his hair a mess and clinging to his face. The floorboards creaked against his weight as he went, his blood red eyes blinking slowly, heavy with drowsiness. The sunlight shone in through his window, casting long shadows through his room. Several empty bottles rolled across the floor as he kicked them out of the way, shaking his head to try to clear his hungover haze. He didnt remember much of the night before, all knew was that it certainly had been a fun one if he had actually slept the entire night.
Pausing before his closet, he took a glance at his reflection in the mirror. At first, he didnt notice the scales that lined his profile or the antlers that protruded from his poll. He had only recognized the fuzzy, dark figure as himself, and turned to search out his shoulder cloak so he could begin his day, just like any other day.
However, as he reached for the silky black fabric, he paused. Had that.. really been his reflection? His muscles tensing, he took a step back, tipping his head as he peered at he mirror. Curled above his messy hair were, indeed, two antlers, patterned just like his hooves. He stared at the red speckled scales upon the bridge of his nose and his chest, swiveling his hindquarters to find more scales lining his back and rump.. followed by a long, lion like tail.
It took the stallion a moment to process the change, his jaw slack as he stared at himself with disbelief. But then, suddenly, everything clicked.
"What the FUCK??" He shouted, Fajra nearly jumping out of her skin as she pulled herself from her bed on the floor. At first, the Lioness found herself staring at stallion with her head tilted, ears forward. He sounded like her master.. smelt like him too.. why didnt he look like him?
Ragnarok turned to his familiar, staring at her with wide eyes, his heart starting to race. "What did i drink last night." He mused, attempting a nervous chuckle. Maybe he was imagining it.
One more glance at he mirror.
No, he was not.
Grabbing his cloak, he pulled it over his scarred shoulder and jerked his head for Fajra to follow before he slipped out the door. Luckily, it was early enough that the casino was empty, and he was able to avoid his employees. He snuck out the door, the lioness hot on his heels, and too the alleyways toward the forest. He had to get out of here and just.. think.

Apprehension tingled up the mare's spine as she made her way silently through the wood, her medicine bag strapped firmly against her side as creatures skittered in the trees above. She felt her body tense for a moment, the relaxing routine of gathering herbs in the early morning not quite allowing her to feel at ease with the world around her. She let out a short sigh, tucking another small herb into the bag with an ease she had forgotten she had.
It was strange, a few months away from home could shift you out of balance so much... It had been a difficult trip back home... and telling Evalynn that once again items had gotten stolen while on their trip up to Onea had not been a fun encounter.
Thankfully, Evalynn had quickly forgotten about the matter when Asalah had made dinner, though it hadn't made the mare feel much better... and to think, that had only been a few days ago. She was still feeling off balanced from her trip and had yet to fully recover. So much so that she had started going out of the city to try to push away her paranoia.
The past few months hadn't done her much good, though she had figured the trip up north to be one more for business than for enjoyment... and boy, was it neither.
Shuddering slightly, she turned her gaze back through the woods. She had spent enough time out in the middle of nowhere gathering random herbs... it was time to go back into the city. Maybe stop at the casino or do something that didn't involve intense flashbacks to tiny griffins flying all over with her and her sister's wares.
She sighed. Why was life like this? Couldn't things be normal for just once?
Probably not. She knew better than to expect the world to be normal, especially after all that she had witnessed. With an unhappy grumble, she took a brief moment to call for Magdalene. The bird had a habit of flying off and not returning, forcing her poor owner to worry far too much.
However, she always returned, and in this moment, Asalah was lucky. The bird landed in her hair, picking gently at the petals with an amused chirp, almost as if she knew where Asalah's mind was going.
"Oh hush, I'm not worried. I just want to get back into the city. Come on." The mare grumbled in response. 1 | 410
