Time of Day: Afternoon Weather: Sunny and somewhat warm Location: Farmlands Timeline: LONG TIME AGO
Thea has just recently moved to War-Forged with her mother, leaving Serora and her friends behind. Her mother forces her out to socialize, and luckily, it doesnt take her too long to run into someone.

The summer air was warm. Well, warm for War-Forged standards. The sun was out and shining, the leaves on the trees rustling with the warm breeze. The sound of the birds singing filled the air, accompanied by the the rare sight of a bumble bee. To those who were used to such weather, this would be considered a nice day.. perhaps even borderline hot.
However, Thea was not one of these lucky souls. Having only arrived from the sunny and sandy nation of Serora, Thea was used to dry, hot days with the sun beating down on her back and warming her thin coat. Here, higher in elevation, she was freezing! She stood huddled in one of her grandmother's old cloaks, her wings tucked tight to her body in order to attempt to conserve heat. Her small, dainty hooves were pressed in the one spot she could find that didnt have a soft layer of snow. She swore she could see her breath, but her mother claimed she was being dramatic.
Letting out a deep sigh, the young filly took a glance toward the small hut of her home before looking back out toward the vast lands of the farmlands. She could see others working their crop or pulling wagons of fertilizer. Despite being surrounded by nature and other hard working farmers, she couldnt help but feel terribly alone. She had left all her friends behind, her family, her herd..
Her mother had told her it would be easy to make friends, yet she found herself tucked beside a tall peach tree, dipping her head away any time someone passed, hoping to avoid eye contact if at all possible. Luckily, her little trick had so far been working, until she heard new hoof steps approaching.

VERESK - Today was a very very lucky day for Vera. Today was his "day off" so to speak, so he didn't have to sit around and listen to his mother prattle on about all of the herb mixtures he had to learn how to make or have his uncle push him around and tell him that the unbearable weight he was already carrying wasn't enough. It was the day that he could finally get to escape the commotion of the village, even for a little bit, just so the other kids wouldn't call him a 'bird with four legs'. As he neared one of the edges of the village though, he noticed that the peach tree that usually stood completely unoccupied now had a little visitor. Veresk recognized her as the filly that had just recently moved in here, the one from the Serora herd apparently... at first, he considered ignoring her. After all, the point of this day was to get away from everybody else, not talk to yet another kid; but there was something about the way she huddled into the cloak - a cloak? Why in the name of all that's good is she wearing a cloak? He walked up to her and cocked his head to the side. "Are you really that cold?"

Despite the filly's rather pathetic attempt to hide from the stranger, he still managed to spot her and approach. Her large blue eyes studied him, taking in his dark coat and rather lithe form, despite his thick fur and heavy bone. Her ears twitched as he spoke to her, causing her to slink a step closer to the tree at her side.
The peach tree, her only friend, the one that would protect her from these terrifying strangers.
At first, her reaction was disbelief. Her jaw hung slack as he questioned her about her cloak. Of course im cold! She thought to herself. Who are you to judge? However, her reserved nature never allowed for her thoughts to leave her lips, as frustrating as it was. She shivered as a breeze found her mane, tugging at the long braid that draped down her shoulder.
"Y-yeah." She replied, sounding far less brave than she had intended as she squared her hooves and looked the stranger right in the eye. She kicked a small lump of snow with her pale hoof, huffing through flared nostrils.
"Look at this?!" She exclaimed, tail flicking against her hocks with irritation. "This.. snow." She hoped that was the correct name for the cold white fluff. "Its cold! I dont know how you live with it."

VERESK -
Veresk looked into her eyes for a split second, but then quickly looked away. It was odd to see how piercing her gaze was, almost as if she could see right through him, even if she was just as shy. "You think this is snow?" He smiled despite himself. "Wait until winter - then you'll see what snow is really like," he cocked his head to one side, studying her. She really did look freezing, even if it was one of the warmest days Veresk could recount in a while. He began to grind his jaw back and forth, considering if he should say something rude or perhaps nothing at all. Or perhaps, it seemed like it was proper to at least offer her a chance - whatever a 'chance' was at the bright age of twelve. "Is there no snow where you come from?"

"You think this is snow?"
Her brow quirked. "Is it not..?" She asked quietly, the aggression in her tone against the white dust fading as it was replaced with slight confusion. However, his words that followed caused her to dip her head. Oh. He was being sarcastic. This was definitely snow.. it was just a small amount. She shivered just thinking of winter as she recalled the stories the Serorans shared of the fuzzy beasts that lived in a frozen wasteland. While she was sure they were being dramatic, she couldnt help but wonder..
She picked up her gaze as he asked of her homeland. Even though it was a simple question, she found her heart aching. Oh, how she missed the warm sand beneath her hooves and the soft air gliding over her feathers.
"Oh, no, there's no snow in Serora." She replied, giving a small chuckle as she flicked her bangs from her eyes. "Just sand.. lots of sand."
She found herself thinking back to the winter he had mentioned, her head tipping to the side curiously. "This winter.. How bad does it really get?" She asked, though she was afraid she wouldnt like the answer.

VERESK - A world without snow... what a miserable place that must be, Veresk thought to himself. Just the thought of it made him want to shave himself down to his skin. As for sand - sure he knew what it was but an entire landmass covered by it? That seemed incredibly bizarre to him. He stood there, eyes wide, staring at a patch of dead grass, trying to reassure himself that he was still safe and warm where it was cold and snowy without copious amounts of that rough, coarse stuff. "Well sand sounds a lot more miserable," he argued, glancing at her again. "At least snow melts and sand it just... it just gets everywhere!" Yet it was a pointless argument; at least sand wasn't wet (not most of the time anyway). "Oh, the winter; the winters get bad out here - probably nothing you Serorans have ever seen," he grinned cheekily. "The snow gets so high you could drown in it, and the temperatures fall so low that some horses freeze to death. That's why we got lots of furs and cloaks to keep you pansy broods warm."
Veresk instinctively bit his tongue. What he had said was incredibly rude. If he had said that in front of his aunt and uncle or his teacher he would've gotten a hoof to the jaw. But it was too late to take back that insult now.

He argued about the sand, causing the filly to purse her lips. At least snow melted? And did what, create mud? "Sand doesnt get everywhere." She couldnt help but giggle a little bit at his statement. Sure, the sand could be annoying at times, especially when it was windy, but it was just as easy to get rid of as it was for it to blow through the house. Sand was soft, warm, fun to play in. It certainly was better than this snow. But she didnt push it, resting a hoof as he explained their winters.
And it sounded awful.
The more he went on about the dropping temperatures and snow piling high, the more she started to think of ways to convince her mother to go back to Serora. Thea couldnt survive this winter. She could barely survive now! The snow was going to swallow her whole, she could feel it. She had been so deep in though that she almost missed the colt's rude jab.. Unfortunately for him, almost meant she had, in fact, caught it.. and she was not pleased.
Furrowing her brow, she looked up to the other with sharp blue eyes. She had heard those words before, and they had never been spoken on a nice tongue. Each time, it had been taunting, mean, undermining. "Excuse me?" She said, holding her head high and at a tilt, staring the other colt right in the eye. She might have been shy a moment ago, but it was slowly fizzling as she hung onto his words.
She gave him a moment to correct himself, giving him the benefit of the doubt that it had been simply an accident.

VERESK -
Veresk gulped. He quickly avoided her eyes, tucking his head into his chest, his long forelock falling over his face. "I'm so sorry, I'm so so sorry that came out wrong I-" he paused to take a breath. Closing his eyes and flaring his nostrils, he tried to think of what to say. It was no use to start making excuses - what he said, he said loud and clear, and now he was terrified of the repercussions, and smoothing it out seemed like an impossible task... he glanced at her again. And this time his eyes stayed glued to hers. Her eyes were a sharp, icy blue, a blue that sent shivers down his spine - a blue that felt like she was just another member of the War-Forged herd member that could, would, and probably should give him a beating one of these days. "What - I meant, is that... the phrase -" he couldn't take his eyes away, his mind was speeding through a million miles an hour, he couldn't find a way to manipulate the situation, he just. Couldn't.
He bowed his head again, and looked up at her with what he hoped was a miserable face. "What I said was incredibly rude and I... and I'm terribly sorry if I offended you or..." he tried his best to make himself look smaller, bunching up his shoulders together and tucking his tail between his legs - he bundled himself up even more, shielding his face from what he was anticipating to be some kind of strike. Another colt had already kicked him in the nose the other day after Veresk had called him an ugly goat - why would this be any different?
