Divine Eve & Sage Rycaron
Setting
Cascade's Temple, directly after the events of Chapter 5
When the group of guardians had entered the Council Room and interrupted the treaty talks, their news had hit hard. Like a stone it had hit, replacing the calm Cascade's vision had given the Sage, creating a ripple on his inner peace that only made his unquiet grow and grow. The Emperor was dead.
Hawkeye was dead.
Rycaron didn't want to believe it, but there could be no doubt. After the body was secured, other news had reached the hippocampus, news that lifted his heart from where it was threatening to overwhelm him with tears. The Divine had been found, and she was secure. Without wasting a moment, the chestnut stallion took off, followed closely by a guardian to act as his security escort. Ry hadn't heard much other than she had been found and she was safe, and at the moment that was all that mattered. He could find out the rest from her, once he had made sure that she was safe himself.
It was almost with a sense of deja vu that he arrived at the Temple, entering at a more sedate pace, one more in keeping with his status as a government official. The stallion was breathing deeply, but he didn't bother to hide it as the doors were opened for him and he entered, sharp aqua gaze sweeping the chamber as he searched for the silvery figure of one who was sister and guide. When gaze finally locked onto her face, heart gave a lurch as he trotted forward, hammering in his ears as he swept forward and pressed his forehead against hers.
"Eve, you are alive," Rycaron breathed, at the moment noticing nothing but this single fact. It was the most important fact, one that quieted the waves of his heart and brought a measure of peace back to his soul. Thank the Wave Mother, she had not been taken from him too. While he new the Divine would ever return, it wouldn't be the same, and he didn't think he could take another loss so soon.
He stood that way for several moments, before finally collecting himself and stepping back to give her some proper space. Eyes brimming with tears he wouldn't hide from her flickered from her face to her form to make sure she was indeed alright--and he visibly froze at what he finally saw.
