The moments of the Talorian council room never truly left the mares mind; it hung heavy like the humidity and heat of the Talorian homeland. Treason and outbreak, a flash of a dagger, space and time tempered against another, blood feathers and cut tendons. The words flashed in her mind during her most quieted times and she could taste the blood on her tongue; the sounds of the boat lurching back to Serora still echoed in her ears. It was now weeks since the meeting had been cut short with news of Hawkeyes death, and Embryss was left falling in doubt – had she made the right choice?
Her family, although torn and sunken eyed from the Talorian incidents (Although Adonis and Noa were in awe as they had seen Alya….lucky) ensured each was well. Embryss loved her family, but she couldn’t help but see them as potential collateral in the wars to come. She had done all she could to ensure their survival, but perhaps she had not done enough? The starlight in her veins dimmed slightly, but deep in the core of her heart she knew Alyas gift could save them – even if it cost Embryss her life; Embryss had decided after the day of her blessing that it may have had to come to that.
Embryss could not remember the last time she had returned to her home. She had spent weeks wandering the outskirts of Osulas and beyond to try and find solitude for her fluttering mind. Alyas return had stirred the quicksilver in her veins, and the mare soon learnt nights after her return she could fly – wingless. Of course, Embryss had always dreamed of having wings and had found a way to conjure stardust and nebulae to give the appearance of wings. She had spent many nights trying to perfect the skill, but did not have much luck. After all, this was flight without air and wings to shape it. It was a skill of understanding flight, balance, and getting over the sheer fact that she could float. Quite the task it seemed to be.
Embryss sighed as the glimmer of stars seemed to shudder in the breeze and let a soft smile part her lips. From afar, one would see the lone councillor near the edge of the cliff. What was she doing? Surely, she was mad? All of a sudden, stars glimmered by her side and slowly formed wings – lines adjoining the brightest stars that seemed to point her wings edges. Her wings were lifelike and she had mastered the skill of making them appear in such a way. After all, she spent every waking day studying her brothers wings and imagining her own in her foal-hood. The wings dropped gently and she remained, peering over the edge, trying to gather the courage to try again. In a brief moment she leapt effortlessly off the cliff and mastered a somewhat shaky climb up the sky. She hovered, looking up and at her surrounds, starred wings gently flapping by her sides. After a moment, the mare delicately landed back on the precipice and remained still, letting the cool nights breeze and moons gentle glow to lull her into a calm.

Jack We never lost control You're face to face With the man who sold the world Sweat gleamed down his coat, illuminating his already pale colour in the moonlight. Jack had been out all morning, all afternoon and now he found himself still wandering out in the vastness that was Sedo. He felt guilty at first, leaving Zaboo to tend to their home and make sure that any horses who happened to stop by knew that the prophet would be gone for the day. He thought it would look selfish of him, to run off when so many important things were transpiring, so many past issues to deal with and move forward onto the next. But the sand had called to Jack, had made his spike itch and the new feathers along his neck poof upwards in anticipation. So he had left his jewellery at home (save for his jade shard necklace, it was seldom that jack was seen without the turquoise beads) had grabbed his saddle bag and had headed out under the promise of clear skies and a warm day. Perfect to stretch my wings, he had thought.
Racing through the canyons and over dunes had awoken something in Jack that he had not felt for a long while. It made him think of days past when he had studied and trained to be a Mullah, following under his mother’s metaphorical wing. He had spent his early years wandering and learning, absorbing any and all things he could learn from the landscape as well as the people he called family. As prophet, he still made travels out into the vastness of Sedo but it was always something he had to do. Of course, he always wanted to, was always amazed to visit those who sought him out in the nomad groups, always enjoyed the shifting winds that seemed to surround the shrines to Ayla. Jack’s travels were calm, his mindset out on what needed to be done, what had to be accomplished. But now, skidding along the hard clay Jack smiled and wondered just where he would go next, what landmark would he gaze upon and recall times of his youth. Jack was that old, he knew that… but being prophet had calmed his soul, had made him more mature.
With the remembrance of the past, Jack had also been brought to the current state of his home, of those close to his heart. Seemingly, things had not gone as planned in the Talori homeland. The peacemakers and council members had done their best, jack and all the others knew this. They had travelled so far from home, witnessed the slaughter that was the war between the Talori and the Flight and had still worked to solve the treaty, to finally set it in stone. Jack had been neutral towards it, listening to both sides but never agreeing with one or the other. Logically, he knew it was needed but his heart bled whenever he thought of it, thought of what had wrought the war with Aodh. Pinching his ears back, Jack let out a sigh and turned his head to the stars, taking in the picturesque view of the horizon and spread his wings once again.
His dreams often brought him back to what had happened on God’s landing, but his wings reminded him every day. Jack could still hardly believe it, had to look behind himself everytime he woke up to tell himself that yes, this was real! But with things so hectic at Osulas, Jack had had little time to practice flying or even gliding as Foals did. Even now, Jack spread his wings and charged forward, laughing at the feeling of the wind rustling through his primary’s (it was a strange sensation) He tried flapping once than twice, that giddy feeling in his stomach rising when his hooves briefly left the earth. Rounding the corner, Jack was sure he was about to take off when he spotted Embryss, his eyes widening as he spotted her at the edge of the cliff. What was she doing! Surely things had not been that dire, she she would have come to him or any number of her siblings! What was she thinking-
But then he was blinded by her own set of dazzling wings, his jaw dropping as he watched her take off and land once more. Skidding to a halt, Jack couldn’t help but laugh, running through the motions of what he had just witnessed. “Councillor Embryss!” he called, panting but smiling all the same “that was astounding!”

“Councillor Embryss! That was Astounding!”
The words eagerly pulled the mare out of her gentle lull. The shaded figure happily approached her, rays of moonlight sooner revealing who it was. Jack. Seroras Prophet. She smiled – she had not seen Jack as often as the Mare may have needed to, as she had storms raging in her mind long before this point. “Wind beneath….” Before she had a chance to utter the last of the phrase her golden eyes caught a glimpse of the steely blue plumage and flashes of iridescent feathers. “Your wings?!” She let out a soft gasp and slight chuckle. “It seems Alya works in mysterious ways?” Embryss smiled as she walked close to inspect the new appendages on his back. She studied how they rested and soon enough shifted her own cosmic wings to rest in a similar fashion. “Amazing” she whispered gently.
The stars glimmered and danced in the night sky – not of her own doing of that she was sure. Embryss smiled “I suppose you are out here for the same reason I am?” She gestured with her starred wings. “Its been a steep learning curve to understand flight…perhaps we can figure this out together?” The wind gently teased at his feathers and her hair – taking note of how they shuddered at the winds influence. The last she had seen of Jack was during the Schism meetings – a very tense time for all of Serora, its government and leaders as well as citizens. Embryss was relieved to meet others from that time again, to see them in a different light once more. It was in these moments, these softer interruptions that convinced Embryss her life was worth every breath, every bit of struggle and hardship. It was these moments that made her heart grow softer.

Jack We never lost control You're face to face With the man who sold the world Approaching the chestnut mare, Jack’s eyes couldn’t help but travel along her wings, eyes sparkling just as much as the stars that laced together did. His gaze jumped up to meet her golden eyes, smiling at her and sheepishly bowing his head as she caught sight of his own new set of wings. “She really does,” he agreed, his right wing spreading open to allow Embryss a better look. Jack had had them for less than a month but oh he was proud of them even if he had yet to take off. “But your wings are incredible as well! I knew your connection with our mother was one of the strongest I have ever seen but these are so much more” Slowly, he moved to her side, taking in how she moved them, how they settled. He was in awe.
Nodding, Jack couldn’t help but grin as she spoke “Yes, exactly that,” Stepping over to the ledge she had previously taken off of, Jack looked down and over, his eyes taking in the landscape “The thought of flight has always been foreign to me, especially in Osulas. So many pegasi make it their home, working along the ridges and plains that the common horse could never dare to reach. God’s landing had always stayed a far away fantasy,” his smile softened “but now it is open to everyone!” Jack felt like he was rambling, his wings twitching as a breeze teased along his feathers. Turning his head back to look at the councillor, Jack’s eyes sparkled again “I’ve been meaning to practice with Adonis, but everything’s been so hectic. I figured one night away wouldn’t hurt, and it seems the stars have provided me with a partner to soar with!” Well, maybe not soar but there would definitely be a valiant effort.
Licking his lips, jack suddenly felt his stomach drop at the thought of actually flying... couldn’t be that hard, could it?

In the distance a small herd of peryton bounded across canyons before taking flight – and Embryss’s keen sight studied them carefully. Bounce, bounce, push….flap? She was quickly pulled from thought and back to Jacks Gaze. Her eyes studied his wing further as he arched one of them out; wings suited him well. In fact, he looked different overall, glowing? Perhaps it was the sight of Alya that re-lit the Prophets soul. He looked magnificent. Embryss was perhaps, staring a little bit too much now. Hopefully he did not notice. She smiled sheepishly in return when he marvelled at her cosmic wings. She softly spoke, somewhat jokingly “You wouldn’t believe how cranky she was when I was blessed either.” Embryss chuckled softly. No. He probably could believe how cranky Alya was. After all, she was booming, magnificent and untamed.
Embryss smiled and nodded in agreement as Jack spoke. “Absolutley. Its funny really. I had always wanted to see gods landing as a child. Now as I am blessed with flight, steps are cut as well.” She smiled “Although I doubt either of us will be resorting to stairs in Osulas or Gods landing anytime soon. We’ve done quite enough of that in our time!” She chuckled to herself and gently nudged Jack. Embryss ears picked up at the mention of her brother in law. “And a fine teacher Adonis is. He is marvellous at flight and far more gifted than my brother Yeshua. He is always so slow…” she paused “Although…I’m not much better at the moment.” Perhaps she was talking a bit too much now. Was she flustered?
Embryss noted Jacks eagerness and it was very easy to follow. She nodded and walked to the edge. “We have this, surely.” She smiled encouragingly to Jack before trotting back from the cliffs edge again. Embryss gestured with her hooves for Jack to join her. “Perhaps we need a run up?” She paused. “Well, you need a run up. I can float but perhaps learning this way is better for me too?” She smiled and unfurled her cosmic wings and flapped them gently as if to warm them up.

Jack We never lost control You're face to face With the man who sold the world Jack couldn't help but snort and then laugh at Embryss remark towards their god, his eyes crinkling “Let’s hope she doesn’t smite us right here and now” he joked, tossing his head back with a laugh. Honestly, running into Embryss had been a hidden blessing this night. He had been so nervous when he had first snuck away from Osulas, a frown tugging at his lips as he made his way through canyons and over hills. Jack had thought that Isolation would free his mind up, help him relax little. To be honest it had done quite the opposite, only the wind easing the tension in his shoulders. A nudge against his elbow brought him recoiling from his thoughts, her words bringing a smile to his face “Yes, I do believe you and I have quite earned our wings! Never again shall we have to struggle up a rocky cliff surface”
Head tilting up to observe the stairs, Jack wondered how strong her blessing was. It was beyond mind-blowing, to be able to bend and shape the cosmo’s to her will. He wondered if she had anything to do with the new constellations that dotted the horizon. Nodding his head, Jack laughed again at the mention of Yeshua’s flying predicament, god’s he hadn’t felt this at ease in a long time “Aesthetically pleasing yes, but maybe not the best suited for flying!” Jack titered near the edge, his words slowing down ever so slightly as the thought of actually flying drifted to the front of his attention.
Clearing his throat and nodding at her words, Jack followed Embryss back away from the ledge, his wings slowly unfolding, following after her own. He swore he could see stars floating off of them, acting almost like fireflys. “Yes, I think a more practical approach will do us both good…” Taking a deep breath, Jack began to trot forward before breaking out into a canter, beginning to flap his wings. When he reached the ledge, he couldn’t help but hold his breath as his stomach dropped, wings working hard as he tentatively began to fly.

Embryss felt a sense of weightlessness, although it was hard to pin-point why. Ever since her blessing and the wind-goddess lifting her into space, the distance and feeling of space never fully left her mind. The mare had also never felt a light-heartedness in her heart like this for a very long time; now that the Talorian negotiations had for now, come to a desirable close. For the first time, in a rather long time, Embryss felt a sense of accomplishment within herself. Baram had assigned others from the council to remain in Aquore to oversee the new changes that would hopefully break the oppressive and ideological shackles that befell Pegusai and Alyas people. Embryss could not bear the thought of Pegusai sacrifice, and her eyes travelled down Jacks wings once more. How could they. She thought. Embryss had to keep a straight face for such a long time in the negotiations. Only now did the realities start to hit her.
After Jack spoke Embryss Nodded and let him hurtle towards the cliff first. He made it look so easy. She was sure that may not have been the case after all. In one fluid movement he leapt and with a sweep of his wings became airborne. Embryss could not help but stand and stare at first, mouth slightly dropped in complete awe. His wings sheen glistened under the moonlit night and she couldn’t help but smile. He was doing it. Embryss reared up and cheered “Wow! That was amazing!”. It was quite an act to follow. Embryss took a few moments to study how his wing-strokes impacted his levitation and she gave him one more determined grin before she herself cantered towards the cliff…..and leapt.
In her mind she willed flight and at once the blessing came and she glided into the air, her cosmic wings flapping powerfully. With each flap, trails of stars gently lagged behind her wings leaving a faint trail of stardust. She was still a bit wobbly but with the momentum she was able to glide up slightly and around Jack before maintaining stationary flight. A smile broke across her face once the concentration began to fall away and she looked to jack wide eyed with joy “You are doing it! We are doing it!” Embryss could not believe it. They were glowing.

Jack We never lost control You're face to face With the man who sold the world
x | x Jack’s breath had caught in his throat the moment his hoof had left the ground, his mind suddenly slamming into survival mood, wait no you’re not physically meant to do this you’re going to die-
But Jack wasn’t falling, adrenaline coursing through his body and flowing through his wings, his instincts suddenly reversing and remembering that yes, he could do this. Blue wings shining in the night flapped hard once, Jack gasping as the updraft lifted him higher, his legs splayed out as he did his best to balance himself, eyes snapping to the ground and then back to Embryss. He was doing it… he wasn’t just gliding but he was actually flying “I- I… ahha, I'm - I’m flying!” He laughed with her, his cheers deaf to all but Embryss and the wind. Seemingly finding a rhythm in the beats of his wings, Jack boldly moved forward and used his tail to help turn himself around to watch as Embryss began to prepare for her own take-off. What he had caught a glimpse of earlier had been absolutely spectacular; he wasn’t about to miss this!
When Alya had appeared before her children atop God’s landing, Jack had never thought he would see anything as marvellous or enchanting as her form before them, shiny and glorious and reflecting a thousand different skies. But now, watching as Embryss’s flared the galaxies at her shoulders, Jack knew he had been wrong. She was enchanting, raw power flowing through and over her, mingling on the wind. He could see their mother in her, reflected in the wings that carried her along the wind. And then suddenly she was there beside him, her face alight with joy and he couldn’t help but grin as well “We are!” he hollered, flaring his wings and catching himself as he almost dropped, nervously laughing once more. Wind flowed over his body as he beat his wings and began to move forward, beckoning for Embryss to follow. “This is amazing,” he spoke softly. He felt his face soften, finally at peace after being stressed for who knows how long. “I’m glad I ran into you out here, I don’t think I would have ever taken the leap otherwise” Their pace was slow, a silent wind fueling their lazy glide. The peace would not last, he knew that. He only cared about right now.

The pair hovered in the winds for moments, Embryss trying to stabilize her flight and gain control. She would have the confidence for a few moments before her mental footing slipped and she would jolt awkwardly mid-flight. She watched as Jacks face beamed with joy –a match to the moonlight that glimmered off his bright coat. Slowly she tried to shift her flight so she was a bit closer to him, her galactic wings seemingly intangible as small pinpricks of stars passed around Jacks feathers, drifting outwards and recollecting with each stroke. Embryss smiled and spoke softly at Jack, flattered by his response “I am glad I could have helped. Thank you as well” Embryss gaze drifted to the shifting sands below, rippling like waves under the moons gaze. Perhaps closer to the ground would offer them opportunities for speed and landing. Embryss looked back up at Jack “I…I don’t think I would have gotten as far without you either.” She would not realise it at first – but the reminders were there in nature; a small brook, a tumbling stream, a cascading river, a gentle, loving ocean. Ebb. Flow. Ebb flow. Endless.
Embryss glanced back down to the rolling sands. Perhaps we should practice descending and seeing what its like to fly closer to the ground? Embryss thought. The confidence was slowly bubbling within her. She looked back to Jack before turning herself around to the vast expanse of the Ziuseset. She spoke out to jack “I am going to try a dive. All that sand is begging to be skimmed across.” She spoke. “Shall we both try and dive?” She thought of her Falcon familiar, Rhajiin who she had released before she departed to Aquore. How he was able to descend great lengths in minimal time. Embryss wondered where her Peryton had also gone to – surely he would know what to do. He was likely lording about back in Osulas, showing off as usual.
“How hard could it be?” She spoke. Famous last words, she thought.

Jack We never lost control You're face to face With the man who sold the world
x | x Jack was almost mesmerized by the shifting sands that streamed past them as they flew, the air currents guiding them along its path and showing off the natural beauty of Sedo. It took Jack’s breath away more than his first drop into flight hand; the land was home to so many things. From an outside perspective, the various dry lands of the place Serora called home would be seen as crude and harsh. But to those who lived here the land was anything but, she offered shade and hidden brooks to the trained eye, food and shelter plenty if one knew how to dance with the elements. And now the wind guided them forward, calm and gently against their new wings.
Shaking himself from his thoughts, Jack rocked his body back and forth, angling his wings and testing out just exactly how his tail feathers worked. A shiver flowed through his spine as Jack felt the trickle of stars from Embryss great wings bounce of his own, his eyes twinkling in awe as he watched, meeting her eyes for a moment before turning to look forward at the horizon. He smiled at her words, glad that she felt the same amount of joy and excitement that he was currently relishing in.
Jack blinked and looked over at the mare as Embryss spoke again, his eyebrows rising and a smile growing on his face “Why I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a better idea!” he laughed, biting his lip and looking forward again. His eyes glanced down before he took a deep breath, adjusting his wings before he lurched forward, quickly tucking them closer to his body and angling himself at a downwards descent (not straight down of course, he wasn’t that willing to break his neck) His hair billowed out behind him, a whooping laugh leaving his mouth as he rushed above the sand, wind dancing around the two of them.

“Why I don’t think I’ve heard of a better idea”
Moments rolled into one another as she watched Jack tuck his wings and angle downwards, still occasionally arching his wings as not to gain breakneck speed. Embryss pondered on the phrase breakneck speed and it was in this watching jack hurtle downwards that she really understood what it meant. She quivered for a moment, realising what she had suggested. “Shit” She thought to herself. Jack had already gained some speed and distance, Embryss had to catch up. She let out a sigh and shifted her wings closer and began angling herself down and gathering speed. The stars on her wings trailed behind and some even began to gather tails much like the meteors did and it was not before long she caught up to jack; slowing her speed to stay matched. She did not dare distract herself or him from this moment but she couldn’t help but catch the blue and gold of his wings blurring beside her.
Embryss was perhaps a bit cockier than most; she always loved a race even if the other was not participating. Her duties as Councillor hardly saw her in such a mood, but it was in these moments that her bolder nature shone through. Embryss could see the sands soon approaching, and with the last moments left she accelerated her speed as much as she could and shot past jack, stars tailing behind. In the last moments before critical impact she burst open her wings and slowed her speed, leveling out over the shifting sands below. She laughed with joy and waited for Jack to catch up. She slowly flew over the sands below, noting the glimmer in each little grain as the wind toyed them from the dunes. Embryss took a foreleg and gently skimmed the tip of her hoof along the sands; sand drifted aside like sprays of water and drifted into the winds leaving a trail.
Eventually she slowed her glide and all her feet touched the ground rolling into a canter – and then to a trot. Her gaze shifted back to Jack who was slowly on approach as well. She smiled to herself, she was very thankful for these moments with him, reminding her that the seriousness of the world she had found herself in was not a cage or a burden, but merely moments.

Jack We never lost control You're face to face With the man who sold the world
x | x Jack’s heart raced as he rushed towards the ground, holding his breath and squinting to keep sand from obscuring his view. He glanced behind himself, his heart calming ever so slightly at the conformation that Embryss was following him, leaving her own trail of stars in the sky. But then she was dropping faster than him, a grin blooming on his face as she shoot past, almost like a literal comet. He laughed, flaring his wings ever so slightly to catch her back draft and sail above her, even if for a moment. His muscles rippled as Jack fully folded his wings, laughing as he caught up with Embryss once more, shakingly leveling out his wings and observing her, eyebrows raised as he watched her unfold her legs and toe her hoof along the sand, dancing with the dunes.
Licking his lips, Jack nervously unfolded his own front legs, his eyes bouncing from his hoof to the horizon, making sure that the land ahead was clear of any obstacles. His heart was racing once again, the fear of possibly hurting himself or even Embryss flashing through his mind. But he could feel her stars tickling against his back, cool and soft and full of energy and oh so calming. Biting his lip and holding back a smile Jack finally stretched his foot out to glide along Embryss in the sand, the two coppery trails dancing with each other. A shaky laugh left his throat, followed by more once Embryss joined in, smiling brightly.
But then it was time to land and oh Alya, that was one thing Jack had never done before. He tried his best to follow Embryss graceful moves (she made it look so easy!) Brining both legs forward, Jack flared his wings forward to slow himself, gasping as his leg caught against the dune and sent him tumbling head first down the slope. It wasn’t long before he came skidding to a stop beside her, black hair littered with dust and feathers askew. Sitting up, Jack blinked before shaking his head, mentally checking that nothing felt broken before falling onto his side, laughing wildly and kicking up sand.

Upon landing her hooves gently kissed the sands, allowing puffs of coppery grains to be raised by the winds. There was something so odd about sand. It was not steadfast and earthy like the mountains of Onea that were seemingly motionless. Sand was easily influenced, enchanting as well as dangerous, and the Seroran’s knew this more than most. Embryss took a moment to slow her gait, rolling her speed to still. Embryss quickly glanced back to see Jack on approach – his wingspan marvellous, her heart could not help but quicken at the sight and his preparation to land, only to find his hoof clipped a dune too harshly and he immediately tumbled into a heap.
Embryss leapt to her feet with haste as her heart raced. Her cosmic wings immediately faded from view as she raced to his side. “Jack!” she yelled, “Are you okay?!” Her golden eyes frantically looked over his wings, but before she had a chance to fully grasp the situation, Jack burst into laughter and rolled to his side. Embryss stood at his feet in shock for a moment her eyes still widened with shock. It took all but a moment before the adrenaline turned into laughter and she couldn’t help but join in.
She was a fusion of relief and shock and in the moment she kicked a puff of sand onto jack before laughing and collapsing by his side. Her sides were heaving and eventually once the moment came to a lull she rolled onto her back, her head near his front, looking at the stars above. She giggled to herself and guided a small comet across the sky, it madly hurtling into the unknown horizon, before doing her best to shift her gaze back to Jack and spoke tongue in cheek “That’s you”

Jack We never lost control You're face to face With the man who sold the world
x | x Choking on his own laughter, the first thing he had heard when it had died down was Embryss alarmed call of his name, skidding to a halt beside him and sending even more gold flecks of sand across his body. He grinned, out of breath and trying his best to sit up and let her know that he was fine, at least his body felt fine. Emotionally? He had never felt better than he did right now, had never felt so light and airy. Jack was the prophet for Serora, the one to help it’s people with their deepest traumas and worries, to see and hear them in their most vulnerable. It was often that Jack felt himself taking on these fears and doubts into himself, perhaps too emotional for his own good. Hell, that’s what the point of this trip had been; to unwind if only just a little, to find some peace for himself.
Laughter cascaded from Jack’s mouth as Embryss fell alongside him, his feathers ghosting along her hide. Turning his head, jack finally quieted and looked at her, grinning “think I’m going to need to work on that” he huffed, golden flicks of sand glistening in his hair. Turning his gaze to the sky, Jack gasped as the small comet dashed across the sky, brief but perfect. His grin returned two-fold, the corners of his eyes crinkling as he looked to Embryss once more.
Rolling to his side, jack carefully stood up, playfully shaking off all the dust that had gathered onto himself back onto Embryss. Jack waited for her to stand before slowly making his way across the dunes to the top, wanting a better look at the stars above. Letting out a quiet sigh, he looked at Embryss “I’m going to miss moments like this” he mused, his mind drifting to the coming tides of war.

She would not know it right now – but the sands of time rippled at the meeting of the Prophet and the Councillor; Stars turned, the cosmos whirled and the winds sung as they always had. The moment swirled into a calm before Embryss watched Jack slowly get back to his feet and soon she followed suit, shaking the grains of sand from her coat. Of course, in Serora, the feeling of sand always somewhere on your body was quite normal. As she slowly stepped to join his movements, she looked across the open plains before them – a lovely mixture of sand and grassland. Life could thrive here for those who would let it. She wondered how the war-march would fare against this land. ”I’m going to miss moments like this.”
Embryss sighed. So would she. ”I hope we can have moments like this again.” She looked both hopeful and worried towards Jack. A glimmer of hope perhaps for them, but also for the people. Slowly the two ascended the dunes to get a higher view from above. Flecks and glow of flame and camps peppered the distance – the nomadic bands would soon have to move from these lands into the shelter of Sedo if they would deem it. Embryss sighed, heavy-eyed and looked to Jack “Heck, I haven’t slept in weeks.”

x | x Standing there beside Embryss, Jack swore that for a moment the times were peaceful. He could think back on warm days under Alya’s winds, sweet scents carried through their tunnels and the sound of everyday life about them. It was chaotic and messy but it was his family, it was his home and there was no where else he’d rather be. Jack closed his eyes, breathing slowly as the remaining grains of sand slid from his coat, a light dust of gold surrounding them.
Opening them, he was greeted with the night sky and all her stars. Embryss’ words made him smile, laughing softly as she made her way towards the peak of the dune, his hooves soon following after her. They stood there for a moment, before her words broke the air and he found himself laughing louder, full of life and mirth “perhaps a nap is in store for both of us?” He mused, eyes twinkling “Osulas’ could survive without us for an hour or two”
