Eyrin | Medicine horse
Eyrin's breath came in raged puffs as he grew more panicked. His movements grew jittery and so far a dingo had managed to bite his leg. His own injuries were the least of his worries though, having seen Aragon been bitten pretty badly. The smell of blood reaching his nose made him bring down his hoofs a little harsher, survival and protective instincts winning it over guilt.
When they were ordered to run, Eyrin flinched. Keeping up with defence he trusted he was able too, strenght wise he was not worried either, but he was not a fast horse...at all. He feared he wouldn't be able to outrun the canines, nor was he very agile, so his chances at dodging weren't very great. He supposed he had little choice though, Leif seemed worn and they'd probably be best of running...
They made a break for the canyon which made him feel like it was a very bad idea once the walls closed in around them. He soon was running in the back and a dingo saw his chance, pouncing his rear. He cried loudly as it bit down and he kicked his hindlegs to try and dislocate it. It was stubborn though and held on tightly. He tried to snap, kick, but nothing worked. Well, until he reached the same ledge Jack had went tumbling over. Having preoccupied he had not noticed in time to stop. Instead of 'flying' though he manages to keel over and slide down roughly, getting scraped up in the progress. Luckily he was nothing if not sturdy and raising his head once coming to a halt, he noticed the dingo had effectively been crushed. The thing lay a few meters away, breathing heavily and slowly. Eyrin felt nauseous.

Aragon looked over to Jack hearing him tell everyone to stay close and get ready. 'Praise Alya.' She thought The red Arabian turned to looked at where the group was headed and let out a powerful surge of air, knocking some dingos down and out of her way. She galloped after the group, pushing her body to continue. As she lept over a broken body of a dingo she glance back behind them. The dingos were still following, desperate for food. She also noticed a small trail of blood droplets she was leaving behind her. Once she landed she regained her footing and continued her gallop. She tried to come up with some way to help the group but came up empty. She wasn't powerful enough to push everyone further or to stop the predators from following them. She followed the group, taking the turns rather tight.
After a few more minuets of running though the red canyons she looked behind them, it appeared the dingo's count keep up. 'Good.' She thought, turning her attention back foreword she noticed Jack trying to stop, and so was Eyrin. Confused she tried to guess what was happening till she saw Jack's body being swallowed into the group. "OH SH-" Ari shouted as she also applied the breaks, digging her hooves and butt into the ground in a desperate attempt to stop before she to fell over the edge. She came very close, the tips off her front hooves were over the edge. She quickly backed up not wanting to fall into the mouth of the hole. "Jack? Eyrin?" Ari shouted looking over at them from the safety of her ledge.

Basyl | Fleet Foot
Basyl brought up the rear, at least she had started to and then the dingo latched onto Eyrin. The young mare slowed her pace for a moment, staring back to Eyrin. She was ready to stop completely and attack the hound, but it seemed as if the medicine horse could carry his own weight. The dingo went flying away and by the time she had turned to look at the horses ahead of her, Jack had already slipped over the edge. A surprised gasp came from her as her hooves skittered over rock as she tried to stop in time. Eyrin passed her, tumbling over the edge in the process. She reigned back right next to Aragon, her chest heaving as she stared down the edge at the horses that had fallen.
She embraced the one moment to stand and regain her composure. She hadn't been so scared in her life. The pain of the gashes on her for-legs finally hit her and her knees shook for a moment. She took a shaky step back to turn and look behind them. She couldn't see any of the dingoes that had attacked them, but that didn't mean they wouldn't turn up again.

Leif | Serora | Apprentice
Leif bit at a dingo that had leaped at his throat and grabbed it by its scruff. With a quick movement, he was able to fling the dog off of him, and it landed on the ground with a yelp of pain. It was painful to see these creatures in so much pain and suffering, and not being able to help them, but he knew that he had to fight to survive and if that meant injuring a few dingoes here and there, he would have to live with it. The life of a Warrior wasn't always the easiest, and often times, it came with hard choices that had to be made.
He heard Bambam bark to get his attention as the others began to take off further into the canyon. The black and white colt took off after them, leading the back of the group. He felt the hot breath of the dingoes behind him for a few minutes as he galloped full speed after the rest of his companions. The canyon narrowed considerably, and he could feel Bambam's fur brush against his legs until it, thankfully, widened out again. The gashes on his pelt stung with his sweat as his legs pumped beneath him, carrying him away from the hot breath of their attackers.
Just as soon as they were all galloping, it seemed that they were stopping, but not after Leif heard the sounds of Jack and Eyrin's screamed falling further and further away from them. 'What was it? A cliff?' He thought to himself and skidded to a halt behind Aragon and Basyl. His blue eyes turned behind them as the sounds of growling and snarling echoed through the canyon behind him, and the colt turned back toward them. "Um... we might want to think about following them. The dingoes are coming." Leif said urgently, trotting over to the side of the cliff. It was a meteor crater, and the walls were slanted enough to provide a pretty steady decent to the bottom (not that Leif had done anything of the sort for fun in the past or anything). "See y'all at the bottom!" Leif called back with an excited grin before he and his familiar braced their legs and began the slow decent down the crater walls.

Jack|Shaman
Jack slowly stood, his head spinning and he limped forward, his leg throbbing. He managed to jump out of the way when Eyrin came skidding down the hill, a cloud of dust trailing after him. Jack took deep breathes, lowering his head slightly. He needed a moment to catch his breath and calm his poor heart. After a moment, he raised his head "It's safe to come down!" Jack called out with a hoarse, shaky voice "just...be careful" he added, closing his eyes. His legs were shaking badly and he could feel blood slowly oozing down his side and legs. He ushered a quick thanks to Alya for keeping his legs intact.
"Eyrin...are you alright?" he asked slowly, turning to the shorter horse "nothing broken?" he questioned softly, his voice still wavering slightly. Jack jerked his head up as he heard something coming towards them, but let out a sigh of relief as he realized it was just Leif, another trail of dust following him "Are you okay Leif? the dingoes didn't get you too badly I hope" he said softly, putting his ears back.

Eyrin | Medicine horse
Eyrin shook his head, trying to get on track with the fast moving events. He raised his head at the sound of hooves, seeing Leif coming down the hill. He worried a bit about the colt falling, but he seemed to managed. His eyes flicked towards Jack as the stallion addressed him. He quickly shook his head. "No, Sir, I'm fine." He gave the older stallion a quick once over. "Are you?" He asked worriedly, feeling bad for not asking sooner.
Were the others? He righted himself, front leg stinging, but he bit through it. Returning his attention to the edge above him again, he sighed a sigh of relief seeing them standing. They were wounded though, he knew without having to actually see.
"S-should I treat them, you? I mean I know we are supposed to get more supplies and it means wasting more instead, but..." He trailed off, just not wanting to risk any of the wounds getting worse.
"It wouldn't help the cause leaving everyone hurt. We still haven't found anything and... Well..." He didn't know how to argue his case, not knowing Jack well enough to know how the stallion reasoned. He just hoped the idea of hurt companions or a threatened mission would sway him.

Aragon looked next to her, seeing Basyl was just as shocked as she was. The small red mare let out a nervous laugh "Oh man that was close." She said then looked over to see Leif was coming to the ledge of the crater too. After hearing him she thought about his idea with a wrinkled nose. "I don't think that's a good pl-" she started to say but watched as Leif and BamBam slid down the canyon wall anyways. Once she heard jacks confirmation of Leif's plan the mares head looked over the side of the drop off, down the rocky wall that sloped harshly. Ari sighed and looked at Basyl and shrugged "Can't beat em join em..?" She said and followed down after Leif and Bambam made it to the bottom. She moved slowly to keep herself from gaining more her injuries. Near the end of the slop she jumped down, once she landed on level ground she shook herself off then walked to the group.
She rejoined the others just as Eyrin started talking. She wondered if the bleeding on her neck had at least slowed now, but then again it only happened a few minuets ago.The likely hood was that was slim.

Jack|Shaman
Jack watched as the others slowly came down the steep hill, turning his attention to Eyrin when he spoke. Jack nodded his head "patch up any cuts that threaten to cause a bleed out, but leave minor ones. When we return to Osula we can clean and wrap those ones." He spoke, agreeing with what Eyrin had said "We should move out of this crater first and then we can rest and treat everyone, catch our breath" he finished, looking over as Aragon finally reached the bottom "That wound definitely needs to be looked over right now" Jack said, his heart skipping a beat as he saw the damage to his friend.
With his final words to Eyrin, he walked over to Aragon, his legs still shaking slightly "Tilt your head up so I can wrap this properly" he said as a he pulled some bandages out of his bag "anything else feel broken?" he questioned as he began to place bandages along the gashes the dingo had left. He felt extremely responsible for the damage that had been done to each of his teammates. Maybe if they had searched elsewhere for the herbs, or had ran right away when the dingoes arrived they would be better off and not bleeding and limping home with their heads held low...
When Jack finished he stepped back, making sure that the bandages would not fall off "Alright, let's get moving" he spoke, turning and beginning to walk to the other side of the crater. It was much larger than it looked and the floor was extremely weathered, long jagged cracks running along the ground. Jack frowned softly as they walked, looking down at the little caves the cracks provided, his eyes widening as he spotted a fleck of green "is that..." he said, his heart skipping a beat.

Leif | Serora | Apprentice
Leif came to a stop at the end of the crater wall and landed with a soft thud. He swung his head up toward where he had left Basyl and Aragon and hoped that the two of them would make it down safely. One would have expected such a young colt to be upset at all of the fighting and terror, but instead, a smile turned up the corners of Leif's lips as he finally had the time to catch his breath. That was the most exhilarating thing he had ever experienced before! When Jack turned his attention toward him and Bambam, he could easily spot the distress on the older stallion's face. It was a look that his own father often wore when the subject turned toward his missing mother, as if Ryder blamed himself for her leaving. "I'm fine! I've got a few scratches, but none of them are that deep." He said, surveying the wounds that he could easily see. A few were still bleeding, but for the most part it was all dried blood. Bambam seemed to be okay too though he was licking a few of the bites that he had received.
His attention turned toward Aragon and Basyl as they finally arrived beside them, and he noticed the large wound that was still bleeding on Aragon's throat and winced slightly while Jack patched her up. They had been lucky that the dingoes hadn't been able to take any of them down, but he supposed that was why they had been chosen for this mission: they were some of the strongest members of the herd.
Leif watched around them while Jack and Eyrin were taking care of everyone's wounds. No sounds could be heard from their canine attackers thankfully. He wasn't sure if a round two with them would be a very good idea. When Jack finally gave the word to keep moving, the colt followed after him wordlessly with Bambam close to his side. The bottom of the crater was full of cracks and ledges. It wasn't very even walking, and Leif had to focus on where he placed his hooves in order not to injure himself. At Jack's excited exclamation, his head shot up, and he looked in the direction that Jack was looking. "Is that a plant?" Leif asked, walking hesitantly toward the small patch of green that poked out of the cracks in the ground in fear of accidentally stepping on it.

Eyrin | Medicine horse
Eyrin nodded thankfully at Jack's reply, relieved the stallion agreed, and made to move towards Aragon when Jack did so himself. He stumbled in his action for a second, taken aback that the Shaman tended to his friend himself. The shaman probably didn't trust him enough to let the most severe wound to him. Then again Jack himself was a skillful healer, maybe he just wished to carry out his duty, just like he himself did.
A little dejected and unsure what to believe he tried to divert his thoughts towards his other patients. His eyes slid over them, mind slipping into the state of a medic, quickly taking inventory of their wounds, nonetheless he asked them verbally as well as to not miss any ailments that could not be seen by the eye. "Anyone who's having pain anywhere other than where you are wounded? If the wounds are still bleeding or if they hurt enough to hinder you further, please tell me as well and I will take care of him. Please be honest, though wanting to save resources is admirable, possibly ignoring a complaint may make things worse." He made sure to keep his voice from sounding accusing, though his eyes slid towards Leif in particular, knowing the young tended to be more reckless as well as more sensitive to illness and injury.

Aragon looked calmly to Jack as he spoke. Her throat felt sore and stung as dust had mixed into the open wound. The smaller mare listened to Jacks instructions and looked up. Her icy blue eyes fixed on a light fluffy cloud hanging in the air of the rather bright pale blue sky. She winced feeling Jack begin to bandage the wound. She cocked her left foot and listened to Jacks question. "Just this." She said and a minor scratch on her front leg that wouldn't need bandaging. The arabian continued listening to the conversations happening around her as Jack went to work. When Jack stepped back Ari could see that he was placing the blame on himself. "Jack," She said quietly, "None of this is your fault." She told her friend, looking at him with a concerned expression.
She turned her attention back to the others, looking over cuts that they sported. She heard Jack speak and turned back to look at him and what he was so astonished to see. When Ari saw the plant she wrinkled her nose trying to deciper what it was. Then she quickly realized through Jacks fascination that this little green sprout was what they had been looking for. "... No one eat it." Ari said attempting to crack a joke.

Leif | Serora | Apprentice
His ears flicked over toward Eyrin as he spoke, and Leif couldn't help but notice his gaze linger a little longer on him. Leif wrinkled his nose slightly. He wasn't injured badly... though there were a few cuts that seemed to be bleeding slightly still. If his father had taught him anything, it was to never leave a wound open and bleeding or it might get infected. With a sigh, the black and white colt wandered over in the Medicine horse's direction with a slightly guilty grin on his face. "I've got a couple of cuts that might need some bandages I guess." He muttered, lifting up his leg to reveal the cuts that were still slightly oozing blood. Leif couldn't help but grin at the sight of the green plants peaking out from underneath the earth. It was a miracle! He giggled at Aragon's remark, snorting playfully. "No way! Not after fighting dingoes to get this." He responded back, turning his eyes toward Jack and Eyrin, both of which would know how to go about picking the plants without damaging them. "All we've got to do is gather it all up and take it back with us." Leif said excitedly. His first mission was a success! They'd found valuable herbs to bring back to the herd, and he had helped to do that! His chest swelled with pride at the thought of being helpful to his herd. This brought him one step closer to being the best Warrior that he could be! Word Count: 253 Post 9

Eyrin | Medicine horse
Eyrin smiled at Leif, happy the colt came to him on his own. He really didn't wanna make a fuss about it all. He carefully tied bandages around his patient's legs, making sure to only use what was needed and leaving the less severe wounds for what they were. He looked at his work calculating. "It would be best to wash it out if you find any water, but since there's no much to go around... Wait to peel them of till tomorrow -or even better come to me and I'll do it for you- and if it doesn't look like its infected by then and no longer bleeding we can leave it to dry in the open air." He nodded letting the colt off the hook and glancing over to the others. He only then noticed everybody looking at the little shoot of green. "Oh."
He was a little dumbfounded at first not having exactly expected for them to stumble onto what they needed while nearly escaping becoming a dingos dinner. He blinked, blinked again and then chuckled. "Yeah, better not eat those," he said in reply to Aragon's joke. He nodded at Leif, feeling quite elated 'cause they actually found what they were looking for. Still a little unbelieving, he moved forward and set to the task off gathering what was needed while leaving enough for the plants to hopefully make it out off this drought and into the next year.

Jack|Shaman
Jack could not believe what lay before them; a secret garden of medicinal herbs right underneath there hooves. This must have been a true blessing from Alya, a sign that she was there for her people, her elegant wings gallantly shielding them from Ignacio's blistering sun. She would not let her people fall, not again. Jack could hardly describe the feeling in his heart; the pure euphoria that was coursing through his veins. With a grin growing on his face, he closed his eyes, tilting his head up to the sky.
'Thank you so much, Alya... thank you...' He whispered softly, letting out a happy sigh. Jack couldn't help but let out an excited whoop, jumping slightly with a bright grin on his face, breaking his usual calm and collected demeanor. "Alright! We need to start gathering these! Be extremely careful with the stems, we want these plants to regrow," Jack instructed happily "Make sure to keep the leafs in separate containers, and collect the seeds as well. Hopefully we can plant some and grow these closer to Osula." Jack felt his words coming out a mile a minute, carefully stepping over the cracks that allowed them to observe the plants.
With diligent hands and everyone working together, it wasn't long before they had gently picked the plants clean and stored the much need herbs in their satchels. Jack slowly looked over each plant as they finished, making sure that it was sheltered from the harsh sun and would be able to grow again. For a day of such pain and struggle, it seemed that Alya had provided for her people.
