Oh my darling, it's true. Beautiful things have dents and scratches, too. Lynx gave a smile as she trotted to counter the straying goat kids, giving it encouragement to keep going towards the rest of the herd. Her hooves were quiet and soft in the sand as she moved the goats, who were as attention deficit as you could imagine. Kids hopped and played and barreled into the others. But they kept moving rather well, knowing the path well. The path to the Niurros was as essential as the grass they grazed, for that was the most abundant source of water, and it was almost a treat compared to the water Lynx could gather from water holes for any time between waterings, but this treat was necessary, and this treat was given daily.
The dainty mare felt sweat begin to creep as the sun beat down on her shining coat, licking her lips that were dry from the trek. She wished she'd pulled her mane off of her neck, but she decided that instead she'd step into the river downstream of the herd and anyone else. It wouldn't hurt to cool down a bit and with how clean she usually kept, it was no problem really. She wasn't sure, however, it would just depend.
The goats began bleating excitedly as they saw the river in view, and they began galloping forward to get to it, causing Lynx to be jogged out of her thoughts and canter alongside them, carefully watching to make sure none strayed, but she doubted they would. They were just as hot as she was, and they ran as one, herd and master to the riverbank, and immediately the goats lined up together to drink, Lynx moving to take a drink as well.

It had been one of those warm days in the desert everyone seemed to not be too pleased with, it was hot enough that everything seemed tiring but not so hot that work for anyone would have been called off. Helios however didn't mind the bit of heat too much as it gave him an excuse to go diving. The painted pegasus flew over sand and rock on an air current, lazily drifting on minimal wing flaps with a small smile on his face; today he was able to use the excuse of the heat to dive for important things. Diving was one of his favorite things alongside his sand sculptures, it was beautiful and serene and like shapes in the sand it didnt last forever, he liked that most about it. The activity suited him just like sand sculpting, he had also decided he suited both the activities The pearl pegasus waited till he was over a body of water in the valley, pulling up above it with afew flaps of his wings, the water below glistened in the suns rays as he stared down at it longingly. He gave a small nod, the tiniest bead of sweat slipping off his nose and falling the great distance to join the water. That was all the incentive he needed, he wheeled back flapping his wings to gain some more altitude before flipping midair, doing a backflip before falling into a corkscrew. The stallion twirled around three or for times before straightening out to dive head first into the glassy envelope of water. He wasn't down there too long but when he came up he was smiling wide, shaking off his mane as he returned to the surface and rose above it just a foot. He loved his job and couldn't keep the wide smile off his face as he headed for the shallows even if he tried; once in knee deep water he flipped his wet mane, long forelock flipping back between his ears before he lowered his head for a quick drink, today had already started out great, what more could good things happen

Oh my darling, it's true. Beautiful things have dents and scratches, too. Lynx carefully counted over her goats, making sure she had all of them with her and that all of them were at the water's edge and drinking their fill. It was no surprise that they were all accounted for, however. So now she was able to take more than a sip herself. The cream mare lowered her lips to the cool glassy surface of the water, taking a few large, refreshing gulps alongside her little herd, feeling the water cool her insides and almost immediately replenishing her energy in this hot weather. Even the desert had its days, but there was always work to be done and goats to tend to. She couldn't deprive them of water, especially not on such a warm day. And she couldn't deprive herself either.
She pricked her ears at the sound of the beating of wings. Too big to be a bird, definitely too big to be a bird. She raised her head to find the source of the wingbeats, cardinal eyes searching the skies. It was far too late, however, when she saw a massive equine shape corkscrewing into the water with wide light wings and plunging into the river and sending a massive splash that caused her to jump awkwardly and if the splash didn't soak her enough, the landing on the slick pebbles on the riverbed and her hooves losing traction did as she awkwardly tumbled into the river, mere feet away from the other horse.
When she stopped flailing and raised her head above the water, Lynx raised into a sitting position along the shoreline, shaking the water from her face as she looked to see the other equine. Her eyes lit up slightly, however, when she beheld the perpetrator of the massive splash that caused her to jump out of her hide and land in the river. A handsome stallion, a beautiful pearl coat with paint markings, curled Marwari ears, and large white wings had emerged from the water, flipping his long curly mane in the most amazing way that the hopeless mare had ever seen.
Immediately embarrassed, she searched for words in her fluster, hoping she looked half as good as what this dripping winged stallion did. SaveSave

Helios hadn't really seen anyone on his flight over the water so he hadn't cared how big of a spectacle he had made, he'd been helping himself to the cool refreshing water when the sound of bleating filled his ears. But that wasnt what he focused on, his Bicoloured eyes fell on a strange mare who had somehow appeared before him but that wasnt the strangest part, she was sitting in the water awkwardly flapping her lips at him. It was a strange sight to be sure but he offered her a sweet smile anyway, "I was unaware that my whole hearted actions caused such dramatic effects in the opposite sex. Are you aware you seem to have fallen for me?", he tilted his head to the side, smile ever so gentle and pleasant "I believe the great wind mother would look upon this day and smile upon the meet of two of her great childeren. May I offer you some assitance under great eyes of the sky mother? It cannot be very comfortable nor pleasant to be stuck in such a way even one of those goats could not get out of over there". Even throughout he still smiled down at her, not even realizing what his words could have been seen as. He was a pleasant chap of course but he was very long winded when it came to practically everything... that and his naivety caused him problems when what he said was taken out of context

Oh my darling, it's true. Beautiful things have dents and scratches, too. The mare didn't mean to gawk upwards at the handsome stallion as he looked down at her. She was definitely certain that her beaded bridle was crooked and her long forelock was probably tangled in the throatlatch adorned with dangling fire opals. She didn't even notice how awkwardly she was sitting, and she couldn't help but blush at his words. He was long winded but his words sounded deliberate, and how was she supposed to know how naive this stallion really was?
She nodded awkwardly at his offer of assistance, breaking out in a blush and becoming aware of how she was sitting. She could get up on her own, she was sure of that, and without thinking she spoke. "No, no sir, I-I think I got it," she said with a slightly embarrassed giggle, hauling herself to her hooves and still standing in the river. "Thank you though. I'm sorry you had to see that," she added suddenly, making sure to still sound nice to this stallion. He seemed nice and he was very handsome. What good would it do her if she came across as rude. She tossed her head slightly to straighten her bridle some and her forelock untangled from the throatlatch. Gods, could this get any more embarrassing. She was certain even her goats were laughing at her!
But she nodded at his acknowledgement of Alya, her smile easing into one much more comfortable. "The Wind Mother sure has her ways," she smiled kindly. "I'm Lynx, by the way," the mare introduced herself awkwardly.

Helios smiled through the entirety of the mare's antics, she seemed to be overly shy and embarrassed by her actions and luckily she didnt seem injured either so that was a relief. As she gave a small nod as a yes to his assistance he lowered his head, long sopping wet forlock flopping down over his nose... before he could actually assist though she mare found her legs, she seemed more embarrassed then he would of been if he had been in that same situation. "Do not worry about feeling so ashamed of your actions, the Wind Mother has an interesting way of shielding our mistakes under her magnificent wings... No one other then Mother and I will know of what transpired here today. I for one will not sure your fopah with anyone not even your lovely goats"The pearl found himself nodding, quietly agreeing alot with his statement. He found their mother held onto their secrets like wishes to the stars, if this mare didn't want anyone to know she fell embarrassingly then he and Alya would make sure that nobody knew what had transpired. "I be Helios miss". He gave her a gentle smile before tossing his head, flipping his long forelock back over between his ears so it was out of the way, it was rather unmanageable when it was wet

Oh my darling, it's true. Beautiful things have dents and scratches, too. Lynx took a deep breath, trying to keep her awkward embarrassment in check before allowing herself a smile. Her creamy coat gleamed wetly in the sun and her long mane and tail and forelock, though wet and plastered to her body, was still rather beautiful. Lynx took a moment to examine this handsome stallion in front of her as she recovered from her awkward escapade. His coat was so golden like the sun and her eyes widened at his thick and full white wings. His wavy mane and tail was soaked and plastered against his neck and face and she felt her heart skip a beat. She was certain this was probably the most handsome pegasus she'd seen. The cardinal-eyed mare let her eyes meet Helios's gold and blue bicolored eyes, her smile widening some.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Helios," she smiled. She blinked a moment. "And thank you. I don't mean to get so flustered and all. I'm guessing Alya had a reason for that," she added with a light giggle. She was also certain that Alya had a reason for her to meet this long-winded water-loving pegasus, but she wouldn't say that yet. "So what brings you this far down the river, sir?" she asked innocently, giving a blink and stepping a little closer, the water running around her hooves and legs. It felt much better than the sand and the heat, that was certain. Word Count: 286 | Post 1[/div][/div] SaveSave

Helios had to admit it to himself that this little mare really was quite interesting, she may have been a little flabbergasted and embarrassed about her actions but she seemed like a nice mare. The pearl gave a short nod as she thanked him, the gentle smile he held never leaving his face the entire time, "You are most welcome" he replied giving her a little chuckle, "Alya works in mysterious ways... and please you do not have to call me sir at all that was my dearest father" he bobbed his head again, taking afew steps so he stood at her side facing away from her, his long wet tail brushing up against her front legs He flicked an ear back her way as he looked out over the bank, watching her goats play in the shallows of the water. "what pleasant humble creatures you care for, they are a beautiful species blessed by mother's great kiss to have free spirits and endless hearts". As he finished speaking he made his way over the the creatures, allowing them to bound around him and rub up against his legs; he would never have owned goats himself but he admired them greatly and more often then not found himself envious of the way they breezed through each day like it was their last. Using his teke he caressed a young Kid who looked no older then afew weeks, slowly his soft peachy teke took hold of the small female before bringing up towards him. He nuzzled its small nose with his own before pulling it close to his chest in a gentle embrace, the kid nuzzling into his soft wet fur

Oh my darling, it's true. Beautiful things have dents and scratches, too. Lynx watched as Helios walked past her, suppressing a shiver that ran down her entire spine as his sopping tail brushed against her forelegs. This pegasus stallion was laying it on thick, and his nonchalance was about to start killing her. Was he doing this on purpose? Certainly not... He seemed long-winded and naive... but he was incredibly kind. Lynx assumed his heart was as gold as his coat as he strode to her goats. And that was even more attractive than his snow white wings.
"Thank you," she smiled as he strode to the herd as they gallivanted in the shallow water, taking joy in the reprieve from the heat of the desert and bleating excitedly to the newcomer, butting legs lightly and bounding with excited leaps and splashes and nibbling on the stallion's long wavy tail. "They're quite the bunch, but I sure love them," she chuckled. "Alya blessed me with a good herd. They've been good to me, and I them. She has the best judgement and the best timing for everything, especially my goats," she added.
She was somewhat speechless as Helios picked up the newest kid of the herd and began snuggling against her, and she giggled at her excited bleats and sweet little nibbles on the stallion's forelock and mane and the snuggling she did up against his side. Handsome with a confirmed heart of gold. Lynx couldn't help but think a silent prayer to Alya that there was something to this stallion that would stick around, that he wasn't just going to leave and the two never speak again. Helios was something, and Lynx couldn't help but smile.
"Are you a herder as well?" she finally asked, stepping a little closer, careful not to lose her footing.

The little goats soft course fur made him smile, thinking back to the old goat rugs his brother used to bring home for him; even as he pulled her close and stroked her with his teke, the small female tried to squirm ever closer, pushing up into his mane and throat with a squeal of excitement. "They sure are something more. Alya has given you fortune with such a fine tribe... mother's wings have given you something quite special that is for sure", he gave the goat one last snuggle before gently placing her back into the water hooves first, he watched her bound away as her mother called her, smiling after them as he did "You do not get just milk and cheese from these special creatures. You get love, kindeness and most of all trust", he nodded slowly, smiling a little before turning around to face her, wings shuffling a little as he did, "they seem as though they are haply and healthy. They are in good hooves with you and Alya knows it". Helios hummed quietly, absent-mindedly swishing his wet tail as he did... he paused however when Lynx asked if he was a herder, a chuckle rising in his throat, "No no I am not. As much as I adore the company of the humble bovidae I cannot offer them as much love as you do. No. I am a Gatherer, specifically a water gatherer and I love it so much that I would not have it any other way... it is... Freedom"

Oh my darling, it's true. Beautiful things have dents and scratches, too. The cardinal-eyed mare shuffled a hoof meekly as Helios began complimenting her herd of goats, a sweet smile breaking out on her muzzle. Though she and many others knew her products were good (which of course meant she had good goats), it felt nice to have someone acknowledge the love and care she had for the little creatures and seemed to share the love for the little animals.
"Thank you," she smiled. "That means a lot," she blurted out, a little embarrassed that she said it, but it was true. His words warmed her heart (and he was already making said heart skip a beat with his being and also by cuddling the kid because handsome stallions and baby animals were definitely what she needed in her life). "I am very thankful for them. They are quite the kind friends."
At hearing his occupation, Lynx nodded softly. "So that's why you enjoy diving into the water from the sky?" she teased with a giggle, and without thinking nudged him playfully with her shoulder. "Maybe you should've been born a hippocampus," she chuckled. But of course, she was secretly glad he wasn't. Pegasi were always under her admiration, and though her family (including her pegasus father) loved her winged or not, she felt that Alya blessed the pegasi and touched their withers and grew their wings with her own hooves. It was a mark of the Wind Mother to be born winged, at least that's what the mere horse believed. However, Alya's love was still felt in her blessings of a good foal hood and herd. But even still, it didn't keep the beautiful little mare from looking with admiration at the wings of any pegasus.
