Laneus was tired, and not just the “I didn’t get good sleep last night” sort of way. He was tired in the visceral, “the wind might blow be over and I would welcome death” way. Three months to rebuild the Pearl, from the ground up, was unreasonable to say the least. At first Laneus had thought it a wonderful opportunity. Help build an establishment everyone knows and loves, one way or another. Move up in the word with a big commission. Maybe get a discount on the goods once it was done. But then he had to work under Lilith’s “supervision,” deal with Addie’s steely gaze, and live up to Donovan’s expectations, when Laneus was fairly certain he was well known for sleeping through Donovan’s classes. While Donovan seemed to understand Lilith was being unreasonable, they still expected Laneus to do everything nothing less than perfectly. At least they gave him coffee. That was all that kept Laneus on his hooves. That and the recently-developed eye twitch.
But now building was in the past, and Laneus stood with Addie on the steps of three months worth of no sleep. The courtesans mingled below them. Excitement danced with anticipation, but there was an underlying darker current. They all knew why the Pearl had moved. Laneus shifted nervously, remembering the day all to well as he pulled the gilded scissors from his bags.
With a quick glance at the mistress Addie, Laneus tossed his forelock back and raised his voice for the gathered horses, “Welcome all! We’re gathered here today for the opening of the new and improved Pearl,” Laneus inclined his head towards the still sealed doors who’s velvet ribbon fluttered in the light breeze as Laneus sent his gilded bridle swinging, “We lost much with the old Pearl, but now is a time for new beginnings and celebrating life to its fullest. So without further ado, I give you the new jewel of the city; your new home away from home: the Pearl!” Laneus shot the crowd one last dazzling smile. Then, he turned towards the door and cut the ribbon in one quick snip. The pieces slid to the ground with sinuous grace and he swung the doors open wide on well-oiled hinges.

Zafirah
The Girl you've heard so much about
It was a long time coming to this moment. A new pearl, but weren't new things better anyways? It was a shame, a bit of a horror of what happened to the old Pearl. yet what was that old saying? Old things must be destroyed so new and better can be built? Ahh not exactly the wording, but it was close enough she mused. Eyes watched as she listened to Laneus speak and she felt herself almost vibrate with excitement.
It was tiring working in the hotel, the rooms were not what she was used to and Zafirah found herself more and more frolicking with the Crowned Cobras, then doing actual work. Which would only lead her into more trouble along the way. Still she watched and glanced around at the others, perhaps this would be a good time to earn some new customers too. Always work it, its what her mother would say, she thought. Still make money, make some customers, see the new Pearl, well it could be one hell of a day for her. Zafirah was pretty sure she deserved a good day, after all this bullshit, it was time to be a little spoiled. With a smile she followed the others in.

N U A L A Aodh Courtesan
......
Thank Ignacio it was over. A new home, or rather, a new home away from home, stood in all it’s glorious detail before the gathered crowd. A part of her was excited, glad they finally had a place to do business comfortably again. While the hotel had been pleasant, it had grown too tiresome to work with clients within its walls. Ultimately, a lot of her work had been brought home, preferring the comfort of her own cushions to the ones at the hotel. She was glad the new Pearl was finally opening its doors. While she had made the decision to take clients at her own home, she was looking forward to having it to herself again… well herself and her slaves. Nuala stood between the two slaves, Roulette and Clythus, with both drawn close to her side. She always seemed to want them within reach, wanted to be able to touch them at a whim, it was almost as if she expected them to disappear at any moment.
Her mind returned to that day, the day that had destroyed the Pearl, the creature that now sat beside their new King. She felt no love for the beast, having witness the death of the former mistress and others… the destruction of her workplace and the breaking of Clythus’ leg… but that was neither here nor there. Nuala stood relaxed between the two slaves, her gaze directed forward as Laneus went through the usual celebratory ribbon cutting and so on. All formalities she almost wished they could just skip… but Laneus deserved this moment, this moment to revel in the joy of this grand reopening. She wouldn’t spoil it for him. A soft smile pulled at the corners of her lips as the ribbon fell away and the doors swung open wide. Her gaze shifted to those gathered, examining the crowd, her fellow courtesans, potential customers, and so on… It was good to see them gathered as well. There was something healing about the reopening, something that made her soul feel lighter, and she was glad.
The mare turned her gaze and her smile on the slaves, pressing her muzzle briefly to Clythus’ veiled cheek and then… whatever part of Roulette she could reach. “Lovely… isn’t it.” She said, not really expecting an answer. “Come. I am excited to see all of the fine work that went into the new Pearl.”

CLYTHUS
Legs where stick straight, poised and proper but head was always lower then his mistress's. The veiled bridal shifted softly on his face, reminding him of the soft colored mare he stood so close to. That day at the Pearl would be one he would never forget. The large chomping maw, claws as large as him and that body that tore the building down around him... He had never expected them to make it out alive, honestly. After seeing the two before him become crushed under the opening... Head shook slowly, nuzzling gently into Nuala's chest before looking forward once more.
The broken limb had healed, thankfully more in part to Bale. The stallion was turning out to be a closer friend then he imagined and just knowing he was ok with aiding him had really cemented their friendship. Mane and tail had grown back, his scar once more hidden behind those long locks. He would not willingly show anyone such a thing and having it visible for so long had sent him reeling. But time heals all wounds and now they stood grouped together before their new workplace.
Smiling softly the silver servile closed his eyes as his Mistress caressed his cheek. When she started forward, so did he, not even giving Roulette a side glance. He was still uneasy about the pit fighter being in the house now.

LAMIS
Massive frame stood nearly leaning over his Master. Head hard curved over his neck, resting on the withers of the small unicorn. The last few months had been so scary and to think, Eostre had almost died from the escape of the crumbling Pearl... The cream servile shuttered, eyes closing tighter as he tried to pull the male stallion closer to him with his large head.
The words spoken around him where lost to his ears, completely ignored. Eostre was all that mattered. With a hard breath his chest expanded and sunk. Fabric had been threaded up his legs, giving the Large Brabant Draft Mammoth Donkey mix some sort of shape, some elegance, to his otherwise large unmastered frame. Milan, the once slave trader, had done wonders in bringing this beast of mass to a point where Eostre could actually take him out. It also helped that the smaller unicorn fed and housed him, asked little of the creature and treated him like gold. Lamis's want and trust within his master continued to grow each day.
Though large ears swiveled and his head lifted to look forward as the scissors snipped away the barrier, lazy gaze finally gracing the architect. When and if Eostre moved forward, only then would the massive creature, large feet still leaving much to be desired in the path of precision. Someone was going to get stepped on, that was for sure.

EOSTRE "Make me submit to you..."
......
Ever since the...event that destroyed the Pearl Eostre had grown more paranoid of what disaster might befall his 'home-away-from-home' while he worked in the cramped hotel as a courtesan, he had heard news of new construction starting to build a grander Pearl than ever before to house the courtesans and had anxiously awaited the unveiling day and now it was finally here. He had spent the majority of the construction time at home truthfully, he was confined to bed rest in an effort to heal faster from his near death experience of escaping the Pearl and was continuously doted upon by his Slave Lamis. The small stallion enjoyed every moment with Lamis, well except when the massive draft was misbehaving or tripping over his dish sized hooves. Truthfully the slave had come a long way from their first day together but even so he was prone to underestimating his sheer size in comparison to others and usually stepped on at least one other equine during their social outings and Eostre prayed that today would be the exception to that rule. Since he had been carted home, nearly dead, after the dragon incident Lamis had grown more attached and rarely allowed himself to be far from Eostre's side unless the courtesan was working and left the massive stallion at home. Even now Eostre could feel the pressure of Lamis' head on his shoulder as he was wrapped up in a comforting hug and pulled ever closer. Eostre let out a comforting coo, in an effort to soothe the mammoth donkey's nerves but his attention was pulled away by Laneus as announced his final speech and let his scissors cut away the elegant ribbon to throw open the doors to their new Pearl. The small stallion had to contain a small jump for joy and the urge to run into the Pearl, it felt like containing a foal who saw a candy store and wanted nothing more than to be let loose to eat all of the candy inside. "Aren't you excited to see the Pearl Lamis?" The stallion questioned softly as he took a few elegant steps towards the open doors, he couldn't contain his excitement anymore, he had to see everything inside!

Roulette
It was odd for him to really accompany anyone to this sort of thing. He wasn't really a beauty slave unlike others. Though eyeing his scarred comrade well perhaps it was a different kind of beauty here. Nuala touched him and he merely just raised a brow offering a light knowing smirk. So this would be interesting he thought with a light chuckle. He watched her move forwards and watched the other move right along side of her.
Roulette snorted a bit at the action, he was not trained for that instead, he waited for her to take the lead and was but a step behind her. To assure she was protected from behind. While of course he was a ptifighter, he was trained to be of protection as well. While everything was dandy, he knew of what happened to Pearl before and Aodh as of late had a nasty habit of things just blowing up. Though lightning surely couldn't strike the same place twice, could the Pearl explode once more? Let's not take any chances.
Eyes glanced to the others and soon looked around the place. Interesting enough, but he was not really into these sort of things. Roulette looked to Nuala and nodded faintly, he was at least happy for her and her other companion.

adler
the wishes i've made are too vicious to tell
the devil, already he knows me too well
The transition had been tumultuous. Then again, any event that started with a wyvern wrenching its way out of the ground and through a business establishment was bound to have tricky methods of succession. The same unfortunate circumstance that created an opening beneath the prior location of the Pearl provided an opening in the management chain as well. Adler recognized a favorable opportunity and tailored herself to fit it.
She was aware of Lilith’s particular brand of ethics and had correctly guessed that mild--or, she suspected, major--nepotism was not beyond the Emin. Addie wielded her mother’s connections easily and got an audience and employment in one day. If Lilith ever did think to check the strength of Adler’s own connection to Cyndane, it would only be after.
Since then, Adler had been in a flurry of preparation. Surveying sites with Lilith and arguing passionately in favor of a location in the Artisan district, meeting with Laneus and Donovan to approve designs and, finally, outfitting the house in its furnishings. From now on, this establishment would be her professional domain and Adler was always one for appearances.
As Laneus slid the doors open to the entrance hall, she heard the employees filter in. Stepping from the shadows, both literal and metaphorical, she strode out to meet them. “Welcome, to the New Pearl of Valore!” Her smile was wider than the doorway that had been thrown open.
The white marble that made up the building had been cleverly treated with a high gloss shine and focal points actually were edged in mother of pearl opalescence. The fabric trimmings were burgundy and gold, just a shade off from the official colors of Lilith’s ancestral family. A sweeping staircase led up and away from the wide room, presumably to thoroughly private rooms. Along the edges of the grand hall, however, there were several semi-secluded alcoves to negotiate potential business within. A door from the hall led to the accompanying opium den.
“Thank you for coming to our own private party before we welcome the public again,” she glanced at each in attendance. “I can’t wait to get to know each of you better.” Truth be told, there was a few Pearl workers she knew already. She’d been a patron herself before taking the post.

Hancock It had been a rough few months. Watching one of your closest friends in life, who was also the person who had actually saved you from yourself, was something Hancock seldom wished anyone would ever have to go through. It was fuckin' shitty, to put it plainly. For the first month, Hancock had locked himself in the hotel room provided by Lilith, Drinking himself silly and really just blacking out the rest of the world. The second month Lilith had given him a real wake up call, getting him off his ass and back to working properly again, lest he wanted to lose his job. He was lucky, he knew that. Could have easily been dumped and left without anyone. Hancock thought back on it and knew that he would have crawled to his daughter, to his parents. He didn't want to be a burden on them any more than he had been. So Hancock woke up and began to live life again, albeit a little slower than usual. He watched over the courtesans of the pearl, making sure that proper paperwork was done and that everything was organized.
and now he stood outside the grand new building located in the Artisan district, feeling just a little more than uncomfortable with the others. His daughter worked in this area, and he did not wish for her to have to see his rugged ass. God's, he needed a haircut. Stomping out his cigarette, Hancock did little to buddy up with the others, merely silently waiting for the ribbon to be cut and the doors to slide open. The new building was magnificent, Hancock could admit that. A pang of regret snaked around his heart as he walked through the doors behind the others, eyeing up the place. He eyed Adler for a moment before his eyes shifted to the doors that led to the opium den and back to the grand staircase. He let out a low, impressed whistle. Post 1 | 331

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - For months, Genevieve had waited for this grand moment, just as the other numerous courtesans had been. Ears pressed forward in earnest as the unicorn, Laneus, gave their opening speech and then snipped the long ribbon preventing entry to the Pearl, Genevieve listened impatiently until able to wander inside the newly established building. As she stepped through the open doors, the delicate mare inhaled the smell of the new building, a low hum of content leaving her. Their new home had been built and she couldn't be happier.
The hotel that Lilith had rented out for all of her workers had been nice, sure, but it wasn't home. It wasn't the Pearl. Genevieve really did hate having to work in those sorts of quarters - and it only heightened her desire to purchase a home for herself outside of the Pearl - but now those days were long over! She could work and drink, and partake in the typical things she had before the destruction of the original Pearl in peace, and more importantly, in rooms bigger than the size of a horseshoe box.
The marble sparkled from the sunlight shining through the doorway. A smile was plastered on the mare's face as she admired the decorations, the architecture. The colors that had been chosen were lovely, the staircase was grand and impeccable, the marble beneath her hooves caused them to clack softly while walking, and down the hall, she noted a lone door. She'd have to investigate it later but Genevieve could only assume what it could be.
At a low whistle sounding nearby, the white mare glanced over at the stallion who'd made the sound. He appeared to be impressed by the new establishment, just as she and likely the rest of the courtesans were. A low noise of amusement left the mare as she glanced away from him, wavy hair shifting slightly on her neck. The excitement of a party was quickly reminded when another mare spoke up causing a thrill to race up the mare's spine. Her green eyes scanned the grand room briefly once more.
Genevieve could only imagine what the place would look like after the party.

LAMIS
All of this was unnessicary. He longed to just be at home with his master, lounging on the couch or in his bed, napping the days away. Sleep... Sleep was calling his name but as his fate would have it, the herd around him started to move. Large ears shifted, looking from side to side as if again confused about why they had all gathered. A familiar voice called his name, conversing with him. Head dipped, more to please the other then anything else and lipped lazily at his shoulder as large hooves started to bring him forward. Today he was donned in Eostre's outfit of choice. Large drapes of sheer purple fabric hung off his body, accented by soft touches of gold. The ring in his nose matched perfectly, not that Lamis really cared.
As long as he was with Eostre, he was happy.
Unbraided tail hung straight down, swishing once to rid a fly from his hind end and the large mass of a creature started up the steps after the smaller much daintier unicorn. As they traveled through the entrance, no longer bathed in sunlight he was able to take in the grandiose of the building. It was different, that was for sure. Less soft and dark. It was brighter, leading the massive creature to nose his masters hind end when he saw the large plush cushions. He wanted to go sit down, lay down even. But he had slowly learned now, to ask for permission rather then just veering off. Hwoever he stopped his movement and nickered towards them, ears swiveled back and forward again, waiting for the words he longed to hear. No real acknowledgment was given when Adler stepped out, more overwhelmed with the whole thing.

Zafirah
The Girl you've heard so much about
Alder spoke and all Zafirah could do was smile brightly. It was an honor and pleasure to be here and before the others as well. What a delight, she mused to herself. Though as she walked in taking in the sights, a whistle of another made her turn her head, Spotting Hancock she chuckled lightly, another mare seeming to do the same. It seems it was filling up in here, she thought as she looked at the faces, some she had seen merely by passing by, but another face stopped her in her tracks.
"Eostre." she called out gently, not raising her voice as if shouting at a passing friend. Zafirah wasted no time trotting over to her and Lamis. "A pleasure to see you both here. Here I was worrying Id have not many to talk too." she chuckled. A little bit of a joke as it was clear in her occupation as well as herself, Zafirah was known for making friends where ever she goes. "What do you think of the New Pearl, you two?" she asked them both curiously.
Taking a second she glanced around at the others, noting Nuala and her two slaves as well as the architect that must have helped design this beaut of a building. Eyes also looked to Alder and she wondered a bit what she meant that they all would get to know each other better. Was there more to this party besides getting the first peek at would be a must see for all in Aodh?

Laneus allowed the crowd to enter before him, smiling from by the main doors and doing his best to radiate happiness and not bone numbing tired. When everyone filed in, Laneus easily followed behind. Upon hearing the complimentary whistle, Laneus bristled with pride as he headed strait towards the nearest complimentary drink table. He snugged a tall flute of champaign easily, taking a long sip while he surveyed his handiwork. All said and done, it was quiet lovely, and the furnishing Adler had overseen really brought it all together. The whistle was well deserved, and Laneus knew many others would have the same reaction. For all the hassle creating the new Pearl was, it was his foot into a higher ring in the city.
Knowing he shouldn’t stay by the drinks, Laneus made his way to a more private corner. He inclined his head to Adler as he passed. She had her people to talk to tonight, and quite frankly, Laneus thought they’d done enough talking in the past few months. Today… he needed a break. This opening should help, between the pleasant company of the courtisans and the finished opium den, Laneus assumed a good time could easily be found.

Nuala offered a soft smile to the horse who, judging by her actions and how much she had been involved with the rebuilding of the Pearl, had to be the new mistress. She nodded, eager to eventually get to know this new individual more, but Nuala’s mind was preoccupied with other things at the moment, like investigating the new Pearl, enjoying the party and the company of her fellow courtesans. Nuala strolled into the hall, admiring the burgundy trimmings and the gold accents, the sweeping staircase, and all such similar sights. It truly was a beautiful new place, certainly looked comfortable, and she was glad. Her fleshy ears flicked at the sound of Hancock’s whistle, the sound drawing a smile to her face.
The mare would move about the room for a few moments, acclimating herself to the new environment, no doubt followed closely by her two slaves. She paused, turning to each of them, “Clythus, dear… I know you must have friends about, why don’t you go enjoy yourself for now? It is a party, after all.” She had brought him with her often enough, she had no doubt he had other friends among the courtesans and she didn’t want to keep him stuck at her side for the entire event. Roulette, on the other hand, had sparked a unique interest and she wanted him kept close for the time being. “Roulette, I’ll have you stay with me. Just in case I need protecting.” She teased. Her attention wouldn’t linger on the Pit Fighter for long before she was off and moving around again, intent on checking out the newly finished opium den. Not that she spent much time there… but still.

EOSTRE "Make me submit to you..."
......
Lamis...the massive beast had slowly worked his way into the center of the dainty stallion's heart and he held more than a soft spot for him so when Lamis made the nearly silent request to sprawl out among the pillows Eos couldn't help but chuckle softly. Nodding with silent approval Eos gave his slave a now well known look that requested in return for giving Lamis the freedom to do as he wished during the party that he would behave and try not to embarrass him. Pausing for a moment Eostre decided to verbally give Lamis permission, just in case the mammoth donkey might misread his physical cues. He might be learning Eostre's wishes but Lamis could be slow to grasp his more subtle hints, "You may go Lamis, this is a Party after all and I expect you to enjoy yourself...just don't forget about me alright?" Turning away from his slave Eos took in the spectacle before him. The new Pearl's exquisite interior made a shiver of excitement crawl up the stallion's spine, he couldn't wait to enjoy himself in the opium den with his comrades, and the sight of who he assumed to be their new Mistress intrigued him as well. Eostre had never personally met Adler beyond passing interactions and he'd have to butter her up some, it was always best to be on your boss' good side but before he could make a bee-line for her a familiar voice called out to him and Lamis. Turning towards Zafirah with a welcoming smile Eos nodded his head in amused acknowledgement, "The pleasure is mine Zafirah...but we both know you make friends everywhere you go love, not many can resist your undeniable charm." Glancing back towards the beautiful interior of the Pearl Eostre's eyes fell longingly upon what he assumed to be the opium den doors as he contemplated Zafirah's next question of what he thought of the new Pearl. Letting out a soft murr of approval Eos smiled once more, "I love everything about it. Truthfully I always thought the previous rendition was a bit dark in palette. I much prefer how bright and welcoming this feels, I'm a sucker for white marble and mother of pearl while the fabric palette is such a wonderful contrast to it all. I'm going to have to personally compliment those involved with such exquisite choices." Pausing the stallion had to contain himself from gushing further and instead let his blue eyes rest upon Zafirah again, "How about you? What are your thoughts on our new 'home-away-from-home'?"

adler the wishes i've made are too vicious to tell the devil, already he knows me too well
Laneus sought other company tonight and that was perfectly fair. He’d probably had a stomach full of her over the past months. Adler surveyed the crowd with a gentle smile, internally skeptical as always. With the Pearl’s movement from the Merchant’s district to the Artisinal, she predicted a wider range of repetitive clientel and had decorated to suit. The fact that Lilith’s colors were so close to her own was a happy coincidence, or at least she’d pretend it was in public. With her work done with the actual place, she could begin on the workers.
Shrewdly she analyzed each from reputation and presentation tonight. Some people thought rumors an unfair assessment but as service providers in a customer service industry, rumors were often the only information a potential customer had to decide before patronizing. Rumors were reviews. Adler had been gathering a few, hoarding them up to help her manage them. A few were more pressing--Hancock’s substance use, for instance, could be a problem while on the clock.
All could wait until tomorrow, however.
She scanned the group before tossing her head and welcoming them to follow her through to the opium den where a feast masqueraded as a buffet. Alcohol, opium and hors d'oeuvres were laid out in dazzling arrays in the lounging room. Arranged with leisure in mind, the room relied more on the burgundy trappings to close out the sunlight and make a cozier space to invite patrons to recline on the low, plush chaises and stay a while--a long while.
“Shots, anyone?” Adler asked. “I’m pouring.”

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - There was a trend in the direction of where most of the courtesans and regular visitors were heading. The opium den, whether for the usage of the drug or because of the buffet strewn about the room, it didn't matter, but the white mare found herself following the trail of horses. She offered nods to coworkers she often spoke to and took note of Clythus with Nuala as well. She offered him a smile as she passed.
As Genevieve stepped through the doors leading into the opium den, the arabian cross breathed in the scent of decadent foods mixed with countless alcohols and naturally, the underlying smell of opium.
Gods, how she'd missed this.
Her attention was caught by Adler's comment regarding shots and Genevieve was instantly intrigued. With a low hum, the courtesan stepped over to where the new Mistress was standing. Shots, eh? Sounded like a good time to her.
"I'll partake," she said with a smile, ears pressed forward, "It's been awhile since I've done some shots."
Which, was actually truthful. During the time spent in the hotel, the mare had kept herself mostly to wine unless she traveled to a bar for a few hours. Even then, she'd not found a good time to really relax and let loose, to party and enjoy herself without thinking of work and her clients. Now? Now was a perfect opportunity.
While Adler was busy with the alcohol, Genevieve glanced about the den, scanning the tapestries hanging over the windows. The crimson hue definitely did a fine job at blocking out the sunlight, making the room dim and appropriately lit for its use, just as the previous Pearl's den had been. Everything about the new Pearl had been lovely - all of the decorations, the marble, the staircase, the den itself, and the familiarity yet unfamiliarity of it. The combination of things made a perfect blend.
Briefly, Genevieve wondered how long she would gush about the new Pearl and how long others would as well. It deserved it regardless, that was for sure.

The Silver servile slave with long silky locks had been more then content to just follow his mistress, one step behind her, one action ahead of her. To make sure she had the best night she could have. It was his duty after all, to make her look the best, the most put together. To use his ability to further her own name, if she so wished it. Mood was light and content, happy. The new estamblishment was perfect and warm, lighter. The air did not hang with the misfortune of the crumbling walls and horrific memories he woke up most nights from. No, this was a new start.
That was until his mistress's words hit the air.
Within those long cold seconds, his blood drained from his face, stomach dropped into his hooves and his mental mind broke.
She wanted him away... A gaze flickered up to Roulette before quickly looking away with a burning anger, a hate he hadn't felt before. This savage pit fighter was allowed to accompany her, and yet he was being left behind... With a hard swallow the male dipped his head, long hair pooling on the floor. "As you wish, mistress..." Could there be a hint of hurt, a dash of bitter venom in that sentence? He was turning too quickly for the mare to really linger on them.
Instead the slave worried the bit between his teeth and lips, clinking the metal in a fidget and nervous gesture. The gleaming coat of Genevieve caught his gaze and the male quickly moved to her side. "Good day Genevieve..." He spoke softly, giving her a gently nuzzle along the withers, moving into the den and stopping at her side. It was nice to see the mare. Though as the words of the others around him voiced the need for shots, so did Clythus speak up. "My mistress gave me specific instructions to enjoy myself. I would love to partake in these shots as well."

LAMIS
Permission was granted. That was what he was supposed to do, correct? Eostre was happy, which meant he had done the right thing. Another small nicker was given and the large dinner plate hooves stepped forward and into the vacated space that was lavished with fine fluffy pillows. This way he could nap and keep out of every ones way. Other equines didn't seem to like being stepped on, as much as he tried not to do that. Tail swished as his legs started to bend. Yet before his knees could even grace the cloth of the cushions, the smell of the food from the doors opening in the den wafted into his nose and Lamis righted as if he had just been shocked.
Ears swiveled forward and before anyone could make heads or tails of the 'thundering' coming from the other room, Lamis burst into the opium Den and looked around quickly. Large eyes settled on the massive amount of food displayed before him. The smell was so overwhelming, the stallion could barely see anything else and try as he might, the massive wall of an equine moved through the room, stomping with high steps towards the table. Nostril's flaring. He was so hungry! And it was right here! Tail flicked but at least he had the manners to grab a plate. Didn't stop him from filling it to the brim with food and then moved not as carefully to the pillows in the corner of the room to plant himself there and enjoy his feast.
Best day ever.

Laneus heard shots, and then he was up. He downed the white wine he’d snagged, the bubbly drink sliding pleasantly down his throat. While his muscles screamed at him leaving his comfortable corner, Laneus believed a greater comfort might await him inside the den. Besides that, free shots sounded like something Laneus had earned, and this was a party after all, Laneus though as he grabbed a few appetizers from the buffet table. He’d been too nervous about the opening to eat breakfast before coming, and fermented grapes didn’t quite cut it or lay a good groundwork for heavier drinking. For that, a few hors d'oeuvres wouldn’t hurt. Now, if only they would bring out some deserts. Laneus smiled at the thought of what chocolate covered delicacies Adler could have procured.
“Adler,” Laneus dipped his head in a simple greeting as he walked up to the crowd gathering around her. By now, they’d known each other for long enough to not require anything more elaborate. He turned towards the courtesan and servile slave beside him and gave a small smile, “Today is a good day for a drink, is it not?”

Hancock Mingling around the outside of the others, Hancock decided that today would be a listening day rather than an engaging day. It was too early for him to be talking anyway, damn it all he'd probably open his mouth and say something stupid to one of em. Nah, today was a day to enjoy the company of those he worked with and knew well, as well as enjoy and celebrate the opening of the new Pearl. Sure, he was happy but damn at the same time he had a rock in his stomach. It wasn't like him, he knew that. Maybe he just didn't like change so much... but a dragon bursting through the floor and rampaging through the city certainly brought a big change to Valore.
Ears perking up, Hancock's eyes danced to Adler at the offer of shots. In an instant, his mind danced to both 'hell yeah lets get the real party started' and 'eugh, alcohol'. To be fair, in his past three depressive months Hancock had become rather familiar with the good doctor that was Alcohol. It had been so easy to just forget everything for a while, to lose himself and just... float. It reminded him of after his daughter was born. God, bad times then, bad times now. But... this new pearl was a chance to change all that right? put it behind and get to work again. So yeah, why not have a shot. Only one though, he really didn't want to be barfing on Adler's shiny new floors. Walking up with the others, Hancock dipped his head in thanks to Adler and took one of the glass shots. Smiling, Hancock nodding once more to the others before dowing his own drink, carefully setting the glass back on the table. The alcohol didn't burn as hot as it had used to, but it still burned.

adler the wishes i've made are too vicious to tell the devil, already he knows me too well
Adler grinned at Genevieve as she took her up on the liquor offer. “What’s your poison? Whiskey, rum, tequila or vodka?” The red mare tipped a bottle of whiskey against a shot glass for her own. Before she got an answer, someone else slipped up with another request. She weighed the newcomer with her gold standard gaze and found him thoroughly wanting--at least as far as his status went. As she was biting back an initial sniping retort, another slave shoveled food on a plate and walked off with it in privacy--beyond plain it was not being transported to a master for consumption.
Adler shot a look pointedly at where she’d glimpsed Clythus’s brand as he’d walked up and greeted Genevieve. “I’d suggest you ask her if she has any to give you then,” she said, smiling briefly at Laneus as he approached. “Lilith’s provided refreshments for the Pearl’s workers--and of course, our brilliant architect.” The dismissal should be clear. Considering the matter finished with Clythus, she turned to the unicorn. “It certainly is, congratulations once again. What’ll you have?”
In the wait for Laneus’s reply, Hancock slipped up and stole the shot she’d poured for herself. Now was not the time to start that fight, however, so she just poured herself a new one.

Roulette
Ears swirled as he took in the sounds and voices of others, mostly strangers as this area was new to him of course. Deidra never really took him to the old Pearl, he was made for the pits and found most of his time was training. But with Nuala things changed in a way, something he really couldn't place a hoof on honestly. Still he was grateful for the experience, even though a faint hint of a smirk grew a bit more on his lips.
Hearing the voice of Nuala he looked to her expediently without allowing his whole focus to be on her, instead he was watching the others to assure none presented them as a threat to her. Though she dismissed the other one and he quirked a brow, but that small smirk on his lips grew a bit lightly as he looked to him and watched him act distance. Ahh fickle thing, he chuckled lightly shaking his head with a sigh. Some acted so funny he mused to himself. But he nodded to Nuala wanting him incase for protection and of course he puffed out his chest a bit, and smiling to her gently.
Soon Nuala was on the move and Roulette was following after her with ease. "If I may by so bold to say." he remarked to her gently low enough for her ears. "It seemed you may have hurt his feelings." he chuckled faintly, he found it a bit humorous if he was being honest with himself. Ears flickered as Alder spoke of shots and Roulette braced himself for the chance of dealing with a different kind of party now.

Zafirah
The Girl you've heard so much about
A charming laugh escaped her lips. "Eostre my dear you are never short of the best compliments I swear." she smiled brightly to her. "I make be easy to mingle with others, but thank you none the less. I must say you like quite wonderful today." she purred out faintly to her. Zafirah nodded as she spoke of the New Pearl. It was truly to feast your eyes upon truly.
"Oh I must agree Eostre. I feel like with The Pearl, will ring us in quite a new faces. Not like I never get tire of seeing the same ones, but perhaps something new is something we all needed for so long." she remarked with smirk. Ears flickered as Alder spoke of shots and instantly Zafirah could feel the thirst one come upon her. "Lets treat ourselves to something food." she winked at Eostre before following after Alder and the others. Eyes spotted Laneus and she dipped her head. "Laneus you are divine sight! You truly have a keen eye, the Pearl is amazing. Alder you must be quite proud. The Pearl is a beauty to behold." she remarked delightfully. "But as for a shot, I would indeed love one. Whiskey if I may of course." she added

CLYTHUS
If ever there was a day that things could go as south as they could, today was one of those. Ears flickered forward before they flattened against his skull and his head dropped. Right... He had forgotten what he was. The confidence he had just shown washed out of him like a tremendous tidal wave, leaving the tall slave feeling completely isolated and alone. "Apologies, I will go ask her." He spoke quietly, sure that the new pearl's owner was already moving on from his existance. Already Clythus ached to have the original owner back and slowly moved himself out of the shot area.
With head low and feeling more excluded then ever the slave took to finding the most forgotten corner of the pearl and stood within it's shadows. Never before had he felt so lost in what to do at a party. Normally he would be doing everything he could to make his mistress happy, to ease her troubles and give her everything she needed. But with her dismissal of him and now Adler clearly showing him where he stood, the slave was lost. He couldn't go back to Nuala's side and needed to stay out of Adler's vision. So his mind knew the only thing left to do. Become a statue and wait out the party. He couldn't even leave if he wanted too. Surely the rest of the equines wouldn't want to sully their names by conversing with a slave in front of Adler. That would only make them look bad right?
How could this day get any worse.

EOSTRE "Make me submit to you..."
......
"Pish posh deary, you are always more wonderful than I to be around. I'm excited to see new faces around here as well, like you said familiar faces are comforting but new ones could bring a new spark of excitement." While he spoke with Zafirah the stallion kept a beaming smile upon his thin face, but every so often his eyes would waver toward Lamis. For a moment he felt his shoulders relax, his slave seemed to have found a spot to lay in order to keep himself out of trouble but then the room to the opium den was opened, the smell of food grabbed Lamis by the nose and he was off again. His smile turned sheepish, it didn't matter how he may try Lamis was a beast. The thundering sound of hooves made him physically turn his head toward his slave and laugh nervously, "Behave Lamis." He crooned softly, more for himself than his slave. His eyes caught the look Adler shot both Clythus and his own sweet Lamis, an annoyed spark flashed across his baby blue eyes. While Adler might be his Mistress she held no right to his slave, Lamis was his and Eostre was sometimes victim to his territorial nature. He almost always refused to share. He almost missed the look Zafirah gave him, an invitation to join the growing crowd around the shots Adler was offering and shrugged, trying to renew his enjoyment in the party and slough off his new annoyance at Adler. Stepping carefully after his pony friend Eos made sure to put as much beauty and grace in each of his movements, in an effort to impress and show off for his Mistress. He followed suit, showering his companions in praise. "Laneus. Adler." He said in a friendly greeting, bowing his head slightly causing his mess of curls to bounce wildly, "There isn't much I can say that Zaffah hasn't already, the Pearl is absolutely gorgeous. You have such an eye for detail, I can't imagine the amount of pride you must be feeling with such an accomplishment." His eyes drew down to the shot glasses with growing excitement, "Vodka is my poison of choice, if I may Adler."

N U A L A Aodh Courtesan
......
To say that she was blissfully unaware of Clythus’ mood following her dismissal of him would’ve been an understatement. Nuala never once thought anything more about sending him off to enjoy the company of the other courtesans and their slaves, seeing it as a nice gesture to be made. A day off was a day off, after all? So, when she caught the flicker of his eyes to Roulette following by the hard swallow and subsequent departure she was somewhat alarmed. Still, she pushed it aside. He hadn’t been fond of the pit fighter when she had brought him home initially, maybe that sentiment was just lingering. She wouldn’t let it disturb her now, content to ask him about it at a later point, maybe once they all departed for the evening.
She turned a look on Roulette as he spoke gently, quietly enough that only she could hear. Hurt his feelings? Huh… “Do you suppose so? I thought he might enjoy being able to run around and enjoy himself with the others…” She replied. Nuala, with Roulette at her side, entered the den where the others were gathering slightly after Clythus, but still in time to hear Adler’s call for shots. Her nubby, flesh-covered ears perked forward at the short exchange between Clythus and the new Mistress, noting her quick dismissal of him. Clythus just wasn’t going to have a good day, it seemed… Nuala almost felt bad, having set Clythus up for failure in sending him off to enjoy himself before getting to know this new mistress, but it was nothing that couldn’t be remedied. She would wait patiently, requesting shots for both herself and the two slaves that accompanied her. “I will partake, and I will have some for my slaves as well, if you will excuse my silver slave’s forwardness… Clythus, come get your shot.” Nuala’s voice called out, hoping that he might hear her and return from whatever corner he had sulked off too.
She stood back then and leaned against Roulette. He made a wonderful post to lean on…

adler the wishes i've made are too vicious to tell the devil, already he knows me too well
Adler smiled, quickly pouring shots as they were called out, noting each preference and sliding them across to the requester. She noted Eostre’s look to the slave gobbling up the Pearl’s food on a chaise and guessed him to be the owner. Then Nuala approached and requested alcohol for her pets. Adler met her gaze and sighed gently. She had hoped they would all have remembered their own standing and quit this personal degradation without having to be told for at least a day but it seemed thoroughly ingrained. Well, the behavior had to end--to say nothing of the expense.
There was a definite leech of money she’d noticed when going through Octavia’s books that had been turned over to Lilith. Adler intended to stop it up. “I had hoped to leave the announcements for tomorrow,” she said kindly, sweeping her head and platinum curls over her shoulder. “But today’s a good a day as any.” Her voice rose to project throughout the room, definitely intending for all present to hear and heed.
“Your slaves are owned by you. Not the Pearl. They are financed by you. Not the Pearl. If they need something, it will be paid out of your salary,” she said, smiling and showing off her fangs. “Lilith has no interest in paying their food and keep. If you can’t afford them then don’t keep them.” She paused a moment to allow her words to seep into their memory.
“It’s also your responsibility to have them behave in the company of citizens. Make sure they do or they won’t get in the door.” She directed this previous sentence at Hancock as he would be the one tasked with enforcing it. “We’re a respected establishment. Act like it.” That done, she turned to Nuala with a smile. “Now, then, Nuala, what will you have for yourself?”

Laneus grabbed a shot that smelled vaguely of vanilla as Adler turned her attention to the others, and raised his small glass towards the purple horned unicorn, Eostre, if he remembered correctly. “I am more than honored for this opportunity. It was nothing but a pleasure working with Adler and Lilith to realize their vision.” A painful pleasure, he thought bitterly, “I hope you enjoy all it has to offer.” Laneus trailed off as Adler raised her voice, addressing the rest of the crowd. Her eyes drifted from employee, to employee, and quickly flicked over the slaves like she had with so many of the stone choices Laneus had brought her during building. A businesswoman always, Adler laid down the law of her new Pearl. And then she moved on like nothing had happened, asking Nuala what she was having as she leaned against a hulking horse. The drama! Laneus thought as he tried to school his raised brows back towards neutrality. Oh, he’d have to see how Adler would run the Pearl. That was the perk of just being a patron. All the pleasure, some of the drama, and no real chance of being effected by the fallout. He knocked back the shot with a thin smile on his lips, and then settled in to watch the room's reaction.

Hancock You've got a new horizon it's ephemeral style. A melancholy town where we never smile.
x | x Turning away from the gathering party at the alcohol station and their new mistress, deciding to peruse the foodScratchingartching at his chin, Hancock hummed softly as he moved down the table and away from the others, his ear flicking back every so often to pick up tidbits of the conversation. Turning away from the table, Hancock decided that nothing there was really suited for him, to high end for his tastes but perfect for the courtesan and the others. He twirled his empty glass slowly as his eyes flicked off the table, resting on the gathered group of workers and nobles alike, watching as one of their slaves slipped away from the group. He felt like going over, maybe try to get into a conversation but in the long run, knew he'd grow bored of it quickly. Parties like this were fun sure, as long as you were in the good graces of the host. Hancock didn't really feel like pissing Adler off, not when the new pearl wasn't even running yet. He'd have his turn to met and converse with Adler later on, get the new run down and what was to be suspected of him, that sort of shit. Hell, it didn't matter if they were friends or not, just that he did his job.
Speaking of jobs, Hancock turned his head around fully when Adler's voice grew in volume, stopping him in his tracks and causing him to fully turn around and address her with the others. Hancock had expected rule changes or enforcement, shit like that always happened when a new boss came in, so it came as no surprise when she addressed the Courtesans in the room before her eyes met his and give him his own firm set of words. His eyebrows raised slightly, not in shock but maybe something more like respect. He firmly nodded his head once at her, his gaze drifting over the various slaves and their owners. Adler's words made sense, especially in a business sense but Hancock figured someone would take it on a personal note.
Glancing out the window, Hancock let out a sigh. Ignacio's horns, he needed a cigarette.

Her eyes brightened a small bit when she took note of Clythus now beside her, a hum of greeting leaving the mare. "Good day to you as well," she purred in reply, ears pricking as another horse joined them. Her focus moving away from Nuala's slave and to the unicorn, Laneus as he was named, who joined them. "Naturally. Though, most days are good for drinking. Today just has a little more reason behind it."
Genevieve flashed the unicorn stallion a charming smile before Adler caught her attention. So many souls to give attention to, my! Pick her poison, eh? What was she craving? A coo left the arabian cross as she mulled over the choices before her. Bottles lined up in different hues, sizes, shapes - filled with liquids that had different smells, tastes, intensities. "Mm, vodka," she eventually replied, ears pressed forward in earnest. "I believe today is a fine day for something a little bit stronger, sharper even."
As her drink was slid over towards her, the white mare cocked a brow when Adler regarded Clythus in a dismissive tone. It was unfortunate, yes, being in his state. Being a slave surrounded by all these horses who'd made names for themselves in one way or another. As the stallion turned away from the shots area, Genevieve frowned lightly but said nothing, turning back to down her shot and slide the glass back over for a refill.
That was some damn good vodka. Later she'd have to ask which one it was.
More and more horses joining them to partake in shots, the courtesan glanced about as she quietly examined her coworkers. The majority were enjoying themselves - lounging on cushions and pillows, eating to their heart's content, and like those here, drinking to their heart's content.
As Adler's voice rose to address all of those around the opium den, Genevieve let out a hum at her new rule involving slaves. Paying for them comes out of your paycheck now? Interesting. For awhile, Genevieve had been considering purchasing her own slave, but now, this rule made her pause. She got plenty of work, that was no issue, but she spent enough of it on herself - especially on alcohol - so to have to split the finances on a slave? Genevieve frowned lightly but the expression vanished near instantly.
Well, it made sense in a way.
She waved off brief feelings of distaste as another refilled shot was slid to her. The courtesan downed in quickly and left the glass, tail flicking behind her. She'd give herself a break before going back for more.
She had all day after all.
