The sky was dark with looming clouds, blocking out what little sun they had over head. Wind circled the pair, rustling the stallion’s green, bear fur lined cloak as he trudged on, his familar scouting the trail ahead. While the weather was not too terrible at the moment, there had been whispers that a storm larger than usual was threatening the mountains. Sure, it was cold and windy, but even Muiris could feel that something was certainly not right in the air.
While he had not been particularly fond of the idea of leaving Hira’s side with war looming over their heads, Muiris was not one to trust his own instincts when it came to the weather, so it was time to seek out professionals. Together, he and Ezmeralda had taken to the trail, on their way to the weather witches’ observatory. Muiris did not think the trip would be long. Certainly, they would be back by nightfall with news on the upcoming storm. However, it seemed that - yet again - a fallen bridge had put a wrench in his plans. He made a little joke about how he was glad that, this time, they were not on the bridge when it fell like the two of them had been twice before, but it wasn't long after the joke fell from his lips that he realized the trip was not going to take.. much longer.
His gaze turned to the sky and a sigh left his lips. Well, there was no turning back now.
Typically, the stallion was one who enjoyed a brisk cold wind as it snaked through his thick coat and cooled his skin; but this was a much colder wind than he was used to. It was one of those winds that chilled him to the bone, made his blood run cold, and actually made him shiver. He couldnt remember the last time he had felt his teeth chatter, yet here he was, his jaw aching as his teeth clacked together uncontrollably.
After hours of walking, the stallion suddenly paused in his tracks, his cloak finding his ankles and wrapping around them as the wind whipped at the fabric. His ears laid back as he attempted to keep them from howling. The white wolf leading the way stopped, turning to face him. “Finally.” He managed to spit the words out as he turned to face the painted unicorn beside him. “Almost there.” He nodded his head forward, pointing out the observatory that jutted out from the side of the mountain.Thank Kaia, he thought to himself. For once, he was ready to get out of the cold.
By the time they made it to the observatory, the sky had darkened considerably. They had arrived later than he had hoped, but there wasnt anything he could do about it now. Adjusting his cloak against his shoulders, he rapped on the door loudly, hoping someone would hear them over the howling of the wind. Just as he stepped back from the door, a snowflake drifted before his muzzle. Several followed after, clinging the stallion’s thick fur on his face.
“Damn.”

Ezmeralda | War-Forged | Herder
The daylight was dwindling into a looming, ominous darkness as dark clouds of a building storm swirled over their heads. A shiver shook her to her core, and using her telekinesis, the Farmer mare tightened the furred cloak around shoulders. Typically, Ezmeralda was fine with the colder temperatures of the northern part of the continent and the freezing air of the mountains that she called home, but something seemed different about this storm- something colder and more... dangerous. She would have chocked it up to her nervous nature and tendency to overreact to weather due to her past experience as a herder. If you were caught in a nasty storm on the mountains, deadly accidents were more likely to happen.
Ezmeralda trailed close behind Muiris, following him up the mountain to the Observatory. The gusting wind sent flurries of snow circling around her, and her green eyes followed them for a moment as the snow flakes traveled down the mountain path. It would have been an enjoyable trip to see the snow falling on the mountains if it weren't for the twisted feeling in her guts as anxiety gripped her and the bitter cold that seemed to pierce through her like a knife.
The pair trudged on for hours, making their way through the winding paths of Skeldr. The fallen bridge in their path made their journey longer and brought back many bad memories, and when the Observatory loomed into view on the mountainside, it felt as though it had taken a century to arrive there. Ezmeralda stopped beside Muiris as he paused. A lopsided grin appeared on her face when she turned to look at him, brushing his flank reassuringly with her long tail. "Just a little longer." She said with chattering teeth, feeling the snow and ice laying heavily on her coat and in her hair. Oh what she would give for a nice, warm fire to sit beside with a hot cup of coffee.
The darkness grew as they got closer and closer to the Observatory, and Ezmeralda couldn't help the worried look that creased her brows as she looked up at the storm overhead. It looked as though it was some kind of swirling, black monster in the sky, readying itself for an attack on the ground below. "T-this doesn't look g-good at all." Ezmeralda stuttered nervously, casting a sideways glance over at Mui.

Jade
For the past week, Jade had been antsy. Signs of a nasty winter storm were brewing far off in the horizon, slowing rolling in with each gust of Alya's winds. Even the Weather Witch's bones ached faintly at first, and only grew increasingly worse as the impending storm became more evident over Onea. So before it could hit the herd without warming, Jade had sent out messages with the aide of her snowy owl familar, Rhydwyn, to her fellow Weather Witches to see if her predictions roughly aligned with theirs as well. Hopefully, they'd all be willing to make the trek to the observatory where she'd made herself at home for the time being.
To her pleasant surprise, two answered her call by showing up at the observatory before the storm hit Onea completely. With her newly aquired blessing, she was able to sense that she wasn't entirely alone anymore. Anxiety wracked her body when they arrived, as she'd never really met them before; only having the bare-minimum of knowledge that there were other witches out there besides her. Besides her mentor and mother, Jade had never worked alongside other weather witches before. It didn't help that both of them were her seniors in her line of work, older than her and more experienced. When she had learned that, her anxiety skyrocketed, and her heart began to beat rapidly. It was only from the sharp grip of Rhydwyn's claws on her that she abruptly grounded herself from an impending anxiety attack. To thank him, she nuzzled his head affectionately and he'd puffed up happily in response. Despite not being acquainted with the snowy owl for long, the pair had bonded fairly quickly. Without him around, it would've been a strong possibility that the chimera mare would've broken down right on the spot from nerves alone.
But, that had been a few days ago. After silently working through her endless bouts of anxiety; Jade's confidence in her role grew. Right off the bat, the three had agreed to take shifts to watch the weather patterns. That way they wouldn't all tire themselves out and miss any important signs leading to the day of the storm. At first she'd stumbled over her words whenever she'd talk to them about her observations, but now she was able to speak her thoughts clearly without hesitation. Seeing that Jade no longer felt anxious, the comfortable weight from where Rhydwyn perched on her was gone. He'd figured that if she was fine, he could resume his usual distance from her. As the weather witches spent their time watching the weather patterns dutifully, Rhydwyn remained perched above them and watched them silently with sharp yellow eyes. The only time he would abandon his perch would be to feed himself on stray mice and to cuddle with Jade when she'd rest after a shift. Otherwise, he was relatively quiet and remained out of sight, out of mind.
Currently, Jade had just finished her early morning shift and was left feeling unsettled with how nasty it looked outside. Dark clouds clustered together, blocking out all light and warmth of the sun. The winds raged, whipping and howling about, bending the trees over easily; on the brink of snapping them in half. If there was anyone out in the midst of the boiling storm, Jade wouldn't be surprised if all their senses were stunted from the flurry of winds. Instead of stressing over it incessantly, Jade exchanged a strained smile with the others as she switched shifts with them. Heaving out a sigh, Jade made her way over to one of the few makeshift beds within the observatory and settled herself for a brief nap. She had faith that the others would wake her if they needed to.
Within the next few minutes, Jade had fallen into a light slumber without hesitation and began snoring gently. When she was once more aware of the world around her, and leaving the gentle embrace of sleep, it was now late-afternoon. What woke her was not the storm, nor was it Rhydwyn nestling against the warmth of Jade. It was the feeling of her blessing alerting her to movement outside of the door. It was two heavy bodies trudging their way up to their observatory, although who it was she could not tell. When they stopped in front of the door and knocked, Jade's entire body went stiff. Feeling her anxiety once more, Rhydwyn kept close to her; pupils honing towards the door, talons flexing in preparation to defend them both.
Standing up on shaky, almost numb legs, she approached the door cautiously and opened it. She was met with a cold gush of wind and two hooded figures. She felt her heart leap into her throat, fearful of who they could be; but felt a wave of relief wash over her instead when she saw a familar face. "Muiris!" she smiled warmly, happy to see the older stallion. Feeling another burst of wind blow her forelock out of her face, exposing her now blind eye. Alarmed by her eye being exposed, she moved aside immediately to let the two in. Closing the door behind the two, and shutting out the harsh winds nipping at their coats, she turned to them and smiled before asking about their arrival. "So, what brings you here to the observatory?"

The stallion found himself shifting closer to Ezmeralda as they waited by the door. He tipped his gaze to the swirling sky overhead and couldnt help but shiver, this time from something other than the cold. He didn't know what it was, but he sure was uncomfortable. His gaze turned down to Ezzie as she spoke, her voice stuttering and he couldnt tell if it was from the cold or nerves. Probably both. Letting a reassuring smile play across his lips, he gave her a soft kiss behind her ear, the scent of her hair filling his nose. “We can handle a bit of snow.”
Avon made her way back to the pair and tucked herself at Muiris’s side, shoving her nose up his cloak in an attempt to search for warmth. The stallion’s skin twitched from the wolf’s cold nose, but he let her stay there. He could only imagine how freezing her paws were.
It was then that he turned his attention back to the door, feeling vibrations softly rumble the earth as someone approached from inside he observatory. The door swung open and he was met with the familiar, warm face of his friend, Jade. Though friend could be a bit of an understatement; the two of them had known each other since Muiris was still a wet behind the ears Raider, lost in his life and struggling on his own.. and yet, he had been the one to deliver the news that had crushed her life as well.
"Evening, Jade." He greeted with a bright smile as he stood aside for Ezmeralda to go inside first. The wolf at his side dodged the others, slipping inside as quickly as she could to get out of the cold. She shook snow from her pelt before taking to sniffing around the observatory. What she was looking for, Muiris probably didnt want to know. He caught a glimpse of her eye as the wind pulled at her forelock, but couldnt put his hoof on how it looked different. It had been a while since he had made it up here.. he would have to remember to ask her about it later.
"This is Ezmeralda." He said, tipping his head in the direction of his girlfriend as he pulled his cloak off his back and hung it from the door. He wanted to get introductions out of the way as quickly as possible. They were not here for a quick chat, after all, though the weather outside did hint that they would have time for that later.
The observatory was warm.. much warmer than the storm swirling outside its walls. It was almost overwhelming. "This storm doesnt seem right, we wanted to see what you thought." He picked up his gaze, looking around the observatory briefly before his attention settled on two others, hopefully weather witches as well. Unfortunately, he didnt recognize either of them. "And who might you be?" He addressed them both, a warm smile on his lips.

Post 1 / WC: 730The winds were howling loudly as of late, more so then was normal in the mountains.
Typically Vatnajokull enjoyed the sounds of the winds blowing through the mountains, and listened as if they carried some grand secret to be heard beyond the sound, but now all he could hear was the angry keening that made his long ears flatten against his skull. Rough weather was on the way, though he couldn't quite put his hoof on an exact scale. It was certain that the mountains would be hit, but what about the forests and towns below? Would they be buried in snow or only experience a gust of strong winds and cold. Neither would be good for crops, that was for certain and Vatna felt a sudden desire to return home and check up on what meager stores of food and supplies he kept for just such occasions. When you lived in the mountains, you would be a fool to not be prepared to get snowed in, particularly if you could not fly and had to wait for paths to become passable.
The stallion paused at the thought, turning his head to glance at his own back. With a snort of frustration he pulled his bear pelt cloak tighter around himself and walked on. He really should get over such childish annoyances, he was a grown horse with responsibilities now.
Still, without Arnak, it was hard to ignore.
For a moment, the winds picked up and Vatna sighed, looking up at the snowflakes that were blown on Alya's winds. Arnak had died in the mountains, did that mean he was with the goddess of the winds?
The snow was blown back into Vatna's face and he snorted as some flakes chilled the inside of his nostrils. The darkening skies prompted him to continue onward before the weather got to bad to travel safely on the trails back home. Walking on the edges of cliffs in a blizzard was something only a fool would do!
Oh how he had some fond memories of when he was a foolish yearling.
As he walked, Vatna heard the light hooting of an owl on the winds, and he lifted his head as the snowy bird landed upon his back, a note in its beak. The weather witch took the message and gave it a quick read. An invite of sorts to a nearby observatory to discuss the worsening weather with the other witches in the area. Vatna was not in a particular mood to socialize but the observatory in question was considerably closer then home. He nodded and returned the note to the owl, who flew off on silent wings, disappearing quickly into the building winds. The stallion watched as long as he could before turning to head down another path to the observatory, hoping someone had the foresight to light a warm fire before he arrived.
Once he reached the observatory, he politely knocked before stepping inside, shaking snow from himself and the pelt he wore on his back, as his fiery orange eyes scanned the others who were present. He didn't know how many received the message, but after a few hours it became clear that it only drew in the three weather witches who were present.
Vatnajokull was watching the weather when their guests arrived, though he hardly noticed their approach until the knock echoed above the howls of the winds. The chimera stallion looked toward the door as one of the other weather witches, a mare named Jade, went to answer. Two new horses stepped in, along with a wolf who darted in to take advantage of the warmth. Vatnajokull's muscles flexed slightly at the sight of the predator. Even as he knew the familiars were more or less tame and harmless unless provoked, his old raider instincts told him to be wary around carnivorous creatures.
When asked for his name, Vatna gave a polite nod of his head as he said, "Vatnajokull." Short, sweet, and to the point while also showing an attempt at being polite. One of his ears flicked up as he listened to the howls of a storm outside. "I agree, this storm is getting worse seemingly by the minute. We have been watching it for a while now and I worry that if it doesn't settle down before morning, we may be snowed in entirely."

Saga StormwingWeather Witch | Intersex | War Forged The wind raged, whipping through the trees. Alya seemed as if she was trying to give them a show. On the peak of the mountain, Saga could easily see for miles in any direction and today that view was skewed with low hanging clouds. With the wind, came snow, it spotted against Saga's duel-colored pelt, but melted at the heat of their body. The pegasi's wing spread out, it always seemed as if it was easiest to determine the mood of the wind around them with their wings. In their mind they could visualize the flow of the wind as it swept by. Saga had been asked to meet, along with a few other Weather Witches, to discuss growing storm. And they were doing no good standing at the peak of the mountain.
With a single beat of their wings, they launched themselves forward into the air. The flight to the observatory was quick, but the way the wind churned like a raging ocean, made it harder for Saga to approach for a landing. Horses had already collected, four from what Saga could tell from above. They were battered back and forth as they glided downwards to enter the observatory. A stray gust buffeted against their side, pulling one of their wings back. Their balance in the air was lost, plummeting them forwards through the air and dangerously close to the building. Their hooves touched ground mere feet from the door, but the momentum of the fall, pulled them forward. Saga smacked into the door with enough force to rattle it before stumbling back.
Saga shook their wings, furling them into their sides. Smooth was not a good descriptor for Saga's entrance. Having collected themself, they crept through the door they had just slammed into, glancing at all the horses that had congregated. "Uhhhh.. hi.. I'm Saga." they bobbed their head, their ears slicked against their skull.

Jade
When Muiris introduced Ezmeralda, the chimera mare smiled brightly at her. "It's lovely to meet you Ezmeralda!" she beamed. Upon hearing the older stallions inquiry about the storm, she redirected her attention to Muiris as her smile dampened but still graced her lips. "Ah, yes....this storm is quite the predicament." she paused, heaving out a weary sigh. "I wish we could have met under better conditions, but it seems fate has a funny way of bringing us together."
A grim expression fell on Jade's face, her anxiety clawing its way back up her throat. Glancing at the other weather witches within the observatory, hoping one of them could provide a better or more concise answer to Muiris and Ezmeralda. One of the other witches, Vatnajokull, offered a brief answer to the observations he'd made, but it seems that she had no choice but to offer her best grasp on the situation at hand as well. Chewing on her lip nervously, the young weather witch tried to focus on the comforting weight of Rhydwyn on her back and attempted to center herself before answering them. Rhydwyn gently tightened his grip on her, feeling the tension of anxiety coiling in Jade's muscles.
As Jade's thoughts ran rampant in her mind, she unconsciously moved towards one of the nearby windows that provided her with a small glimpse of the storm progressively worsening right in front of her eyes. How could she explain this? The best she could possibly do is explain to him how she'd felt it in her bones a week ago when she woke that something bad was coming. A week ago when the weather was seemingly fine and harmless, where there were no signs of the nasty storm boiling over the horizon. Jade never liked being the bearer of bad news, but it was inevitable in this scenario. Inhaling a deep breath to calm her nerves, she turned back towards Muiris and Ezmeralda and offered the best response she could muster up.
"Like Vatna said, the storm is very likely to keep many of the inhabitants of Onea snowed in at this rate." she paused, gnawing on her lip more before she continued. "But that's not the only thing to worry about. With how much snow is being produced in this storm, and the strength of Alya's winds only growing stronger as the hours go by; I think that the storm won't break within the next few days like a usual storm would..." she trailed off, hoping one of the other weather witches would chime in to support or continue her weak statement.

It was as if all the lights in the world had suddenly gone out.
There was no warning, no premonition, only a sudden plunge into absolute darkness, and with it fled too the howling of the storm, the bone-deep chill of the air.
Everything.
MY CHILDREN.
A voice shattered the void, heard individually inside each skull, each soul, and not the physical plane. The voice is loud without having volume, and the meaning is conveyed clearly without ever using words but rather evoking shifting stone, groaning wood, unfurling leaves. It is a voice, a presence, that several of the equines would recognize. Would remember.
Kaia’s voice.
Light slowly returned, but in only one spot, bringing the door to the Observatory into view once more but holding all else in darkness still. The door blew open, but despite what was clearly still a violent gale outside, no snow or ice was blown inside, and sound remained elusive.
A STORM APPROACHES, MORTALS. Kaia’s voice has changed pitch, as if the god herself looks out into the horizon. A path is cut through the storm, a sudden swath of calm in the raging elements that led away, into the darkness beyond. A different storm, it seems, though the darkness hides it.
PERHAPS UP HERE,WHERE THE AIR AND ROCK ARE THIN, YOU CAN SEE IT BEST. YOU MUST PREPARE, YOU MUST BE READY.
YOU MUST FIND YOUR BALANCE.
The last words are quieter, desperation seeping through almost tangibly.
Balance.
And then the darkness had collapsed, sound and colour and time resuming with startling abruptness around the gathered equines. But though the door remained open to the storm, no snow or chilled air crossed the threshold. And on the ground, at each equine’s hooves, was a single sprig of pale, luminous pine. Silverwood, Kaia’s fabled guardian trees of old.

Ezmeralda | War-Forged | Herder
Ezmeralda felt warmth creep over her face as Muiris placed a gentle kiss just behind her ear that gave her the bit of reassurance she needed to keep her jittery nerves at bay. As he pulled away, she gave him a determined nod of her head and offered him a lopsided smile as she placed a feathered leg forward to continue the trek up the mountainside. They had certainly handled worse than a bad snow storm in their lifetimes, and at least they hadn't been on the broken bridge when it collapsed this time around. She filled her head with positive thoughts with each step in the thickening snow, still practicing at pushing aside her usual pessimistic outlook on situations like a looming, ominous storm.
She stood close beside the large stallion as they awaited the inhabitants of the Observatory to come to the door. Her ears swiveled to and fro, listening for any signs of life behind the wooden door until the sound of hooves could be heard from the other side. Her teeth chattered quietly, but as the door opened to reveal a young, grey mare who greeted Muiris with a friendly, warm smile, she clamped her mouth shut to prevent her teeth from creating any more embarrassing clattering. She dipped her head respectfully when Mui introduced her and slipping inside to escape the freezing coldness outside. "Hello. It's nice to meet you, Jade. I wish it could be under better circumstances." The paint mare said and hung her cloak from a peg near the front door. With the storm growing in strength outside, it wouldn't be wise of them to leave the safety of the Observatory anytime soon.
Her green eyes traveled over the other two Weather Witches, not recognizing them from around Onea... not that anyone would hang out around the Farmlands or in some of the most remote parts of Mount Skeldr on purpose which would be some of the only places Ezmeralda would be unless she went to town. Her gaze swept over toward Vatnajokull as the stallion spoke. So the Weather Witches did believe this storm to be out of the ordinary. Her stomach twisted into knots and, out of habit, she looked over at her boyfriend, studying his face for any sign that he was as worried as she was before nearly jumping out of her skin as something smacked into the door behind her. Her long tail wrapped around her body in an anxious habit of hers just as the door was opened by a bat-winged pegasus who crept into the room with an obvious look of embarrassment. "A-are you okay?" The unicorn mare asked in a concerned tone.
Just as the words left her lips, the world seemed to go black, locking Ezmeralda into place. Her breath caught in her throat at the utter silence and darkness that had enveloped her. "MY CHILDREN." The voice boomed in her ears and caused her to recoil. What was this? Where was she? What was happening? The only thing she knew was that she recognized the presence that accompanied the strong voice. It belonged to the earth goddess, Kaia. Light suddenly illuminated the door as it swung open to reveal a mighty storm raging outside. "YOU MUST PREPARE, YOU MUST BE READY. YOU MUST FIND YOUR BALANCE." Kaia's words flooded over Ezmeralda who was reeling with confusion over the scene unfolding before her. Balance? What balance would save them from a storm? However, before she could voice her questions to the goddess, her desperate voice faded into silence and the world returned to as it was before aside from a single pale piece of pine that lay at each of their feet. "W-what just h-happened?"

Muiris started as a winged figure slammed into a door, causing it to rattle before introducing themselves. He gave a nod to them both, hoping someone had an explanation for the terrible storm. However, his heart only sank as first Vatnajokull and then Jade confirmed his suspicions: this was one of the worst storms they have ever seen.. and they didnt know why. Biting his lip and mulling it over, feeling Ezmeralda's eyes on him as she searched his face for some sort of answer.
A sigh left his lips as he lifted his shoulders in a shrug. He opened his mouth to speak, but suddenly, darkness circled them. The howling of the wind had stopped, the chill of the air pulled from their coats.
MY CHILDREN.
The voice was familiar, deep in Muiris's soul and bones. He could pick up that voice out of anywhere. It was the voice who warned him not to let his anger get the best of him. The voice that gave him his blessing of Earth. The voice of Kaia.
The door flung open, but snow and wind did not cross into the observatory. Light slowly formed at the door, but darkness still surrounded them. Muiris wanted to step forward, but found his own hooves frozen in place.
Kaia spoke of a storm, a storm they needed to be prepared for. Muiris found himself worried, his gaze tearing from the door as a single branch of pine appeared at his hooves. Kaia's voice faded. The light returned. The cold, however, did not.
"Balance." He found himself repeating quietly under his breath, his brow pressing together as he carefully picked up the pine at their hooves and held it in the light. His ears flicked in Ezmeralda's direction at her question, but he found himself quiet as he tried to formulate an answer.
"I.. I dont know." He replied, pulling his attention from the pine and glancing toward the Weather Witches, scanning their faces in hopes for an answer.
"Does anyone recognize this?" He asked after a brief pause, holding the pine out more for them to see. Muiris himself wasnt all that educated in religion, he was still learning of course, but he remembered stories of Silverwood that his mother used to tell him.

Jade
When the world around Jade was abruptly thrown into darkness, fear blanketed her entire being. The young witch tried to call out to the others who were previously in the observatory but nothing came out, and no one responded. No sight. No sound. Nothing. She could feel her heart beat quicken, pounding in her curved ears and heaving chest. Her throat constricted, her already shortened breaths breaching borderline suffocation. Jade could already feel the dizziness settling in, and the strength in her legs weakening as the darkness wore on. She could feel herself spiraling further and further away from reality, until a voice boomed into existence.
MY CHILDREN.
All at once, Jade could feel the fear dissipate from her body. Tears of relief, awe, and anxiousness pooled altogether. She knew that voice all to well, finding comfort in the presence of her beloved goddess; Kaia. But she couldn't help but wonder, what bought her to speak to them now?
A STORM APPROACHES, MORTALS.
Jade was no god, but she couldn't help but feel with the shift of her goddess attentions to the dark tempest on the horizon, that there was more to the storm than meets the average horse's eye. It was, after-all, one of the worst winter storms she'd seen in her lifetime. Jade couldn't help but hope that maybe, the goddess would enlighten them.
PERHAPS UP HERE,WHERE THE AIR AND ROCK ARE THIN, YOU CAN SEE IT BEST. YOU MUST PREPARE, YOU MUST BE READY.
YOU MUST FIND YOUR BALANCE.
A small sliver of disappointment rippled through Jade's heart, but was quickly diminished as the goddess warned them. The young weather witch felt confused at Kaia's words, her mind working sluggishly in the presence of the goddess. But hearing Kaia's last words, tinged with a tone that sounded and felt foreign to Jade's ears: desperation.
Balance.
When the world returned to once before, Jade felt pleasantly numb; a slight buzz trembling beneath her skin from the goddess's departure. It took a moment for Jade to regain her awareness of the world, the sensory overload blocking out coherent thoughts. What helped bring her back to reality was her coincidentally glancing down and focusing on what could be considered something akin to a parting gift from Kaia. A pine from the fabled Silverwood, known to be Kaia's guardians of old. Zoning in the pine, the young weather witch widened her eyes in shock, finally coming to terms with just occurred. "O Great Mother....." she mumbled, completely dumbfounded. Stories from her foalhood ran rampant in her head, the ones resonating the strongest being the stories her father would tell to lull her asleep at night. Never in her life did Jade believe she would actually live to see the tales be proven true. "Its Silverwood. Actual Silverwood." she whispered, disbelief evident in her tone.

Vatna continued listening to the winds blowing hard outside the Observatory, wondering who might have offended the gods so much that they sought to seal them in their homes. He turned his head to silently count all who were now present, trying to determine if they had enough food to make it through being snowed in for an indeterminate length of time, though no sooner had he finished then yet another came in... well, crashed in. The pegasus's entrance was less then graceful and Vatna just stared at them in stunned silence as they introduced themselves. Saga. Hm, perhaps they would still be alright with an extra mouth. The chimera's concern was with the length of time they could expect to be there, and he didn't like the idea of being trapped by the weather.
Suddenly there was dark and Vatna stiffened in surprise, ears flat against his skull. Only after the initial shock of being alone in the dark did he notice that he could not even hear the storm anymore. It had been blowing so long now that the absence of the howling, the silence, was more unnerving then anything else. Then came the voice, ringing through his mind like a bell yet strangely no such words reached his ears. It was an odd sensation to say the least and Vatna was not so sure he enjoyed it. Still, it was not a threatening voice, though it was indeed humbling.
Kaia...
As light returned and seemed to shine through where he remembered the door of the Observatory being, Vatna took a step closer, unable to contain the curiosity that told him there was something incredible to see just beyond that threshold...
The world returned to its normal state all to quickly however, leaving Vatna to exhale a breath he had not even been aware he was holding, gasping as his lungs pulled in fresh air at last. Looking at the others, he could tell by their faces that he had not been alone in this strange experience, and looking at their hooves led to him looking down at his own, where a small branch lay, as if placed there deliberately for each of them.
"She... made it seem like this is not just a bad storm," he said, more to himself at first but loud enough to be heard. "Or perhaps this isn't even the storm she meant, but something worse on its way."
"Either way, we should tell the herd once it is safe to leave shelter," he finished. It was better to be safe and wrong then to be silent and right. He didn't know if others outside the observatory had gotten this message but if they had, or hadn't, they needed to know the goddess's words.
