The first real storm of the year. That choice of words said a lot about their land’s spirited and often temperamental weather, but it was an aspect of Onean life that the Forged had grown to know very well. They could handle some snow and a blast of biting wind, especially if everyone on the patrol had been smart enough to take protection with them. It wouldn’t shield her from everything, but as her eyes found the roiling storm on the horizon, Alyshia couldn’t help feeling a wave of gratitude for the bear pelt her father had given her. It felt snug on her back, but with the possibility of cultists lurking in the shadows, the sword sheathe resting at her side—and the brush of her snow leopard’s hyperactive tail—felt just as comforting.
And she’d take any amount of comfort right now.
The last few months had been difficult on the young Valkyrie, filled with uneasy sleep and restless nights scouring the stars for answers after the terrible secrets they’d unveiled to her nearly a full season ago. It had only been a few glimpses, but what she had read still haunted her, even now.
The great writhing beast.
The shattering waves.
Kathra, a tiny form facing against the giant monster that challenged her to an unfair battle.
For a while, it was all the night sky had been able to tell her. And later, after some time… those visions of Kathra simply stopped. Alyshia read the stars vigilantly almost every night, now, hoping and praying for better signs. She would glean some things—mundane events in her family’s lives, the approaching winter and the typical troubles it would bring—but nothing on her friend. After so long, frantic anxiety was slowly giving way to uncertain agony, and a whispering hopelessness that prowled just at the edges of her thoughts. Months later, she still couldn’t understand what she’d seen… or what had become of Kathra.
But there were other things to worry about on this eerie night, and if she was to keep her comrades and her people safe from those who threatened Kaia’s people, personal problems could not be entertained. And maybe there was a grim relief in that necessity. Alyshia could use some good honest work to pull herself away from her troubles, even if it was essentially trading in one problem for another.
The mare turned to look over her company, marveling not for the first time over how Addeva and Fox somehow weren’t here with her this time. It seemed as if a long-established tradition had been broken, but perhaps that was for the best. As much as Alyshia missed her younger sister’s company and the familiarity of the prickly scout, surely they had to be safer, wherever they were. And these were all still faces that Aly felt easy around; after all, they were all fellow Valkyries. Strong and capable mares whom she’d all met at some point, be that in training or in other patrols from before. Alyshia had never led one, herself, but when Hira appointed her one, she didn’t question it. The thrill of being trusted that much by her War Lord had overshadowed whatever trepidation had jolted through her heart at the time, although those fears quickly dissipated when she learned that no equines of other ranks would be with them. Not everyone in the herd looked kindly on the Valkyries, and that attitude could get tiresome.
She just hoped she’d do good by her fellow valks tonight, as well as her leader.
“Well,” Aly began, trying to get more comfortable in her role for the night, “I’m going to assume we all know why we’re out here and that our mission is a given. Ideally we should hope for an uneventful patrol, but cultists are an unpredictable sort. As long as we’re all cautious and remember our training, I don’t doubt that we can handle anything the evening may throw at us. Delta, Nott, Avocado. Clementine. I’m glad you’re all here.”
Speaking of Clementine, it had been admittedly jarring to see the nearly grown mare. Hadn’t it been only less than a year ago that Alyshia was traveling with her pregnant mother? Aging potions weren’t unheard of, but they sure still messed with one’s sense of time.
She.... couldn't recall the kirin's name, for the life of her. Alyshia knew Hira had said it at least once or twice, but unfortunately the stallion's title had escaped her. Feeling a tad too awkward to ask for it, she settled for a nod in his direction and hoped it'd be enough for him.
“Let’s keep moving, then.”

Jushiro | Outsider | Just Wants To Know Whats Happening
Jushiro was used to feeling out of place, essentially, that as the only way he lived these days. This was nothing new to him, an everyday feeling he started to ignore. But currently, he felt very out of place. This snowy covered land was strange and filled with so many equine species he felt his head spinning. The relations they had with other herds was.. intricate, which made sense, but also confused him when it seemed they ridiculed their biggest allies on a daily basis in everyday conversation but still looked foreword to trading with them and recieveng aid. An now, he was out of place. For starters, Jushiro was the only stallion in this group of deadly mares, not a big deal, but with how the herd operated.. it was..? He was still unsure what to think about how gender norms worked here. Because even though their leader was mare, mares were seen as a lesser sex, but none of that made sense to him. Then there was the fact that he was a kirin, and no one else in this group was, but he was used to being an outsider on that issue. The armor probably didn't help him look more.. ordinary. But as he had long ago he adorned the armor of a blue scaled dragon head and jaws, his front scaled and ruby studded bracers, and his jaw and fur collar. He looked like a dragon himself currently. He felt the idea of going out in a storm was reckless, but to these horses it was worth it. He honestly had no idea what the heel this blood letting shit was either, but hearing the name he figured it was a big issue that must be delt with swiftly. His cat like eyes scanned the group of Valkyries he was with, taking them all in for a moment, especially the big one with a fin sticking out of her back, before looking back to the leader of this squadron as she spoke. Not hearing his own name his brows rose slightly, he wondered how.. excited, this mare was to have an outsider, male, kirin, on their patrol. Yes this was indeed shaping up to be an interesting mission. He thought as he walked after she gave the command to move.

Delta cast a glance to the sky. Dark clouds promised a nasty storm. She loved storms, particularly Thunder and lightning storms, but this one... I was the first snow storm of the year. She knew all about the Cultists and their sick traditions. The thought of what they might do to some poor mare tonight made her sick. The dappled silver mare wrinkled her nose in disgust, letting out a loud snort that sent puffs of moisture into the frozen air.
Her squad leader's voice caught her attention,
“I’m going to assume we all know why we’re out here and that our mission is a given.
She was familiar with the other Valkyries, though she hadn’t spent much time training with them. None the less, Delta treated them like her family. They all had their differences and yet, also many things in common. The bickered amongst each other, like most families do and still they fought together. She was proud to know them all.
Delta flicked her tail, the shimmering pied blue fins lightly rustling together like light fabric. She walked up to the younger mare, giving her a warm smile and damn near towering over her at 17 hands,
“Aww, we're glad you're here too, muffin,” she said, turning to stand by the dark mare's side and giving her a light bump with her hip, “Wouldn't be a party with out you.”
Looking back at the other Valkyries, Delta flattened her ears and raised her head, a wicked and determined smile shadowed her features, “Now I don't know about the rest of you, but if, in the event that we do run into those Cultist ass-hats, what do you all say we show 'em what the War-Forged Valkyries are about, yeah!? 'Cuz I'm about sick of their shit!” she announced, only loud enough to be heard over the wind.
She moved away from Alyshia to stand by the others once again, “Not saying I want a fight or anything, but it would be kinda nice to smash in some Cultist skulls. Just saying.” Delta said with a shrug and a humorous smile.
The silver mare looked at the Kirin just behind her, "Oh yeah, by the way, welcome to girls night, handsome." 420 words || post 1

CLEMENTINE | WAR FORGED | VALKYRIE
I only wrote this down to make you press rewind and send a message, "I was young and a menace."
Clementine kicked absently at the snow as they walked, watching it flick into the undergrowth with a sense of growing agitation. She wanted to run, to warm her very bones before the chill of the coming storm could sink deep into her marrow - but she was on duty, a child with a sword and a directive to boot. She had heard tales of cultists' cruelty, seen her mother’s scars, and though she had faith in her storytellers, none of it still felt truly believable without being witness to it firsthand. Their deranged perceptions of reality seemed too ludicrous to be real, for who kills without purpose? Without reason? Froya had taught her to only take what she needed to survive, to fight when there is no alternative, and to be brave in the face of adversity and quite frankly, she couldn't see any other way of life.
As the group continued to march at their slow and meagre pace, Clementine sighed deeply and contemplated shovelling her ears full of snow as her sisters in arms exchanged hearty projections; channelling some of her guardian’s distaste over their words and her own at their inactivity over action, deciding she couldn’t wait for this evening to be over.

Avocado|War Forged Valkryrie
Ava had never enjoyed the cold. Despite living in a very cold place, she never had liked it. Especially after her accident. Number one, she was short, and snow drifts were her worst enemy. Number two, it made her scars ache something fierce.
The stoic mare glared into the snow as it drifted towards her, ears pinned back to her skull. She snorted as snow landed on her muzzle, shaking it off her back. No need for it to penetrate her coat. Which brought her back to what was going on tonight. Cultists. Joy. Oh yeah, and the scaled guy. It just made her roll her eyes, ears flicking. One of her fellows spoke and she gave her a nod. Even with her fellows her tongue would not loosen.
Her head swiveled back towards the snow, pushing through it. It...kind of reminded her of someone. Someone she had at home. Ava huffed out a breath, the cloud escaping her nostrils as she looked over the drifts. Hopefully Alun was safe. Wherever he was. Her head made to turn back to her fellow Valkryies, listening to the hippocampus speak. Delta? She had seen her around. She was...big. Ava just shook herself briefly, tail ticking back and forth and back and forth.

Nott| War-Forged | Valkyrie
Breathing in a sharp, icy breath, Nott let out a puff of air. Seeing the land being covered in the heavy, white snow was an unexpected sight for the young mare. Sure she's seen snow before, n big deal, but this snowy weather was a big deal. When she heard that the weather witches predicted a first real storm, she felt excitement run through her. But as of now, she was miserable. She glanced around to take in the fellow Valkyries she was among. She's seen them a few times before but wasn't such a social kind of person. Always keeping to herself, making sure not to form attachments to anyone because gods forbid her let her walls come on down. Missions like this particular one was dangerous enough for her to form a connection with anyone else. But perhaps this could help her open up a bit with her fellow Valkyries and a kirin.
Speaking about the kirin, Nott didn't remember very well when he appeared. All she just knew was that he was there along side of them to help with their cultist issue. The more the merrier. She looked them again and liked the diversity between all of them. Delta had always piked an interest in her, always fascinated by her pastel-like fins. Clementine was an amusing story, the young mare taking an aging potion. “I’m going to assume we all know why we’re out here and that our mission is a given.
Perking her ears upon Alyshia words, she nodded in agreement. "Just glad I can come along and make sure to show those cultists their place" she mumbled, shifting her feet into a comfortable position. Nott saw Avocado turn their head to Delta speaking to the kirin. Indeed, she thought, welcome to this girl's night out.Word Count: 361 Post #1

Alyshia hadn’t been expecting Delta to walk over to her. Frankly, she hadn’t been expecting the other mare’s sheer height, either, but it was hard to remain daunted after her comrade bumped her with her hip and flashed her a warm grin.
“Aww, we're glad you're here too, muffin. Wouldn't be a party without you.”
“Hah, glad to hear it.”
Amused but heartened by the hippo’s spirited words, Alyshia was only further humored when Poofkin chipped in with a yowl of her own—the silly cat—and Delta threw a flirtatious line at the kirin. The phrase ‘playing with fire’ came to mind, although the stallion seemed to be taking it in stride. The vanner mix was just happy that someone had been able to give him a warm welcome.
"Just glad I can come along and make sure to show those cultists their place."
Aly nodded at Nott with a smile. “Sounds like a plan; let's not keep them waiting!”
She didn’t see much need for any other added words. What needed saying had been said, and the party was ready for action; something that the Valkyrie had a feeling she’d be grateful for by the time the night was done. She set off at a steady trot, just slow enough to maintain a good pace while keeping one’s legs warm in the growing chill of the coming winds.

As the group made their way, the snow kept falling harder and harder every minute, it seemed. Delta was glad that she had chosen to wear her Apana fleece vest today. Cold didn't really suit her. Her Aquatic half preferred the warmth. She suddenly found herself wanting a nice warm bath. To bad there wasn't any stable source of heat way out here in the middle on the Onean wilds.
A thought struck her, and she slowed down to a fast walk as she contemplated it. The Kirin breed was made in Ignacio's image... Ignacio was the god of fire... Fire was warm. Casting a glance over her shoulder, she spotted the big Kirin trotting steadily, albeit, slightly slower than the rest of them. Aww. Poor Dragon Fruit feels left out.
She stopped and waited for him to catch up to her, sending a smile and a wink his way once he found out she was waiting for him. Falling into a trot next to him, she matched his pace easily. It wasn't hard when they were the same height.... umm.... if you excluded the antlers.
Delta took this chance to admire the deep red scales on his chest, back and shoulders. They looked rough, but reflected with the metallic smoothness of armor plating. His actual armor was pretty nice too, and she took some amusement in him having a shark jaw as part of it. But damn those scales were lovely.
She was also aware of how much warmer the air around him seemed and practically basked in it as it rippled off of him and soaked into her fur. When he made eye contact with her, she gave him a warm smile, “Don't let us make you feel out of place. You have as much right to be here as I do, and I'm only half War-Forged.” she told him, giving his shoulder a slight bump,
“I gotta say though,” she added, lifting her head so the other Valkyries in front of her could hear her, “It's nice to be able to talk with someone who isn't so damn short!”
Delta gave a light chuckle, “So, you got a name, Hot Stuff?”

Nott | War-Forged | Valkyrie “Sounds like a plan; let's not keep them waiting!”
Grunting in agreement, Nott followed in suit after everyone else. Her legs were aching from standing still for a while in the cold, winter weather. She was glad that they were moving on out. She honestly couldn't stand staying in one place for far too long unless it required her to be stealthy. Something she's been practicing for awhile, especially sneaking up on her mother. Mom... I wonder if she was able to get enough food to last her long enough through this storm. If not... I'll make sure to bring her something back, she thought aimlessly. Nott liked knowing if she can bring something back to her mother, especially food or some sort of trinket from the missions she took on. But perhaps not this time since it's cultists that we're dealing with. I don't want something horrifying in mom's possession.
The snow just seem to keep falling harder with every passing minute. It didn't bother her one bit since she's thankful for having her mother's thick coat but it sure did feel heavy and uncomfortably wet to her. Seeing that Delta fell behind a little and walked along with the Kirin, it struck her if Kirin's can actually generate enough body heat. Sure, they would at least have to get Ignacio's blessing for fire related stuff but were they naturally born being extra warmer than other horses? Perhaps it was a good thing that she didn't know but it wouldn't help to be curious. If Delta can strike a conversation with someone, maybe I can too since we'll be traveling for a while till we find out if those Bloody Flank rumors are too? Glancing around, Nott took a deep interest in speaking with their team leader. Picking up her pace to walk alongside Alyshia, she easily set the right rhythm to match up with hers. "So uh, how does it feel to be leading us? I mean, it's quite a huge surprise seeing a Kirin with a bunch of Valkyries and all," she asked. Yup, this is toootally how you start a conversation. Jushiro | Outsider | War Forged
Jushiro watched the Valk Delta step up. Hearing her introduction into the night his brows flicked up, a bit surprised by her brashness. But a second later a grin split across his face causing his long canines to shine. " Its an honor to join you." Oh he liked this mare. He looked at the others around him, quickly picking up the vibes they set down. This was going to be a fun night to say the least. Deciding not to step on their toes he stayed back, his reptilian eyes tracking their movements and watching out for anything else that might be stalking them. He didn't understand much about the cultists, or anything about the vagabonds to be perfectly honest, but tonight's event seemed rather.. horrendous. Noticing one mare, ah the same one who gave him that devilish smirk, fall back and into step with him he grew curious. He felt a smile pulling at the corners of his mouth. As she told him she was only half war forged he looked at her, taking in her markings and a quick look at her fin, "truly?" He asked, many equine he had met were rather proud and boastful about their war forged parentage. Each time a horse had rambled on about it Shiro had kept a polite smile but was inwardly groaning. As she bumped into him he let his smile grow. And hearing her comment about talking to someone her height he let out a low hearty laugh "They call me Jushiro, but to my friends, Simply Shiro." He informed her, with a intrigued grin. "What do they call you?" He asked her. { WC: 278 | Post 2 }

"So uh, how does it feel to be leading us? I mean, it's quite a huge surprise seeing a Kirin with a bunch of Valkyries and all."
Alyshia flicked an ear as she turned her head slightly, her gaze meeting Nott’s. Admittedly surprised that anyone would bother to make small-talk with her, she couldn’t deny that a friendly voice on a night like this was good to hear.
“Hah,” the mare let out a single quiet laugh, low but just high enough in pitch to hint at the uneasy nerves buzzing around just underneath her skin. “Definitely a new experience for me. It wasn’t so long ago that my sister and I were first chosen as Valkyries, so I didn’t think I’d be leading parties of my own for a while, yet. So far I’d… like to think I’m handling it adequately enough. The kirin’s a surprise, but he doesn’t seem so bad.” Truth be told, this was Aly’s first time getting to see a kirin in the flesh. She had heard of Hira’s miraculous son, and her father had spoken of the colt fondly (the soft sap) but she’d never seen any for herself. And the first time she met one, lo and behold, he was on her patrol. Ju… ‘godsdammit, JUSHIRO, that was his name!’ really was an unusual, but interesting sight.
“…Better him than one of those foul-tempered raiders who still think we’re stealing their jobs,” she added with a snort, although it was followed by a small smile.
“… And you? How are you faring on this evening?” It wasn’t often that Alyshia got to converse so casually with her sisters-in-arms. It was kind of nice, getting to know the others a little better.
...Although such a sentiment would be unreasonable if it didn't go for everyone. The spotted mare had been glancing back now and then on the remainder of her party, and she noticed that among the newly budding conversations, two of the valkyries had been left to themselves. Clementine didn't seem all too keen on speaking to anyone, but the other...
"You, too, Avocado. We've scarcely gotten the chance to speak, tonight."

“Truly?” the large stallion had asked. Delta chuckled a bit. Arching her neck and giving him a teasing wink, she flared her fins proudly as she trotted gracefully ahead of him a few paces, showing off how the shimmering blue and white seemed to float through the air as she moved,
“What, you really think that a cold, harsh land like Onea is capable of producing a Tropical-Breed Hippocampus all by itself?” she asked him with a smile as she made her way back to him (and his warmth) “No. My father is the Captain of a Talorian merchant ship. My mother is War-Forged. She runs an apparel shop in Skelder Town's market.”
Her bi-colored eyes glittered at the mention of her father. She was very proud of being half Talori. It made her different, and she had always been a fan of different.
A wide grin spread across her face when she heard him laugh at her joke. 'Oh thank the gods he has a sense of humor!' she thought.
“They call me Jushiro, but to my friends, Simply Shiro.” had been his answer when she had asked his name. She giggled, “Well 'Simply Shiro', I'd be more than happy to have you as a friend, if you are alright with that.”
She bumped his shoulder lightly once again, “Name's Delta. Call me Del or Dee, I don't mind, but if I ever catch you calling me Dee Dee, I'll kick you.” the dappled mare answered with a playful smile.
Momentarily scanning the ground in front of the small group, she noticed the snow was getting deeper and they were loosing the light. “Hmm.... Hey Jushiro, mind helping me out with some recon? Those woods are a good place to set up an ambush. I'd prefer it if we found the Cultists before they found us.”
Picking up her pace, she trotted up to the dark speckled mare in the front,
“Hey Alyshia, I was thinking me and Jushiro could scout ahead. Make sure we're not being watched or followed. I don't like the look of those woods.” she offered the lead mare.
Turning her head she called to the back, “Hey Clementine! Recon! You up for it?”
Turning back to Aly, Delta continued, “We'll trample down some snow for you guys too. And if there is an issue, I'll send Clementine back to get you, she's lighter than me and Shiro and can make it to you faster.”

Reconnaissance would have been a good idea... but too little, too late. Even as Delta finished speaking, there was a soft hissing sound. Not a particularly alarming sound, on its own, but one that can mean many things. In this case, it denoted the rapid shifting of snow as the Valkyries stepped unknowingly not on solid ground, but upon a tarp, triggered to collapse with the weight of an equine. And beneath the tarp yawned a pit. Too deep to climb out of, but not so deep it was impossible to see the vicious glittering of sharpened wooden spears at the bottom of the pit. A trap, clearly set for an equine. Meant to injure, and contain, but not kill.
The next 3 characters to post fall into the pit! Degree of injury is up to the player.

Avocado|WF Valk|Angry and Hurt (But mostly angry)
Ava rolled her eyes, ears flicking as she pushed through the snow. Gods she hated being short. She opened her mouth, intent on speaking, before the ground gave way beneath her.
A wordless shriek became a roar of pain as the sharpened spears sliced through the tender underbelly of the unicorn as she landed, off her feet for a moment before she was standing. She reared, trying vailiantly to pull from the spikes. The scent of her own blood taunted her, her heart pounding a terrifyed rhythm in her chest. The sounds of nature seemed to amplify as Ava struggled, before falling still. If she didn't struggle, it wouldn't hurt her more. Her head dropped to look at the wounds. Several lacerations up her legs, deep gashes on her underside. Several stab wounds up into her side. Crimson streamed from her stomach and legs.
Ava raised her head then, eyes seeking her sisters in arms. Had they been harmed? Probably, considering the extent of her own wounds. What Ava couldn't see was the nicks in her ears as well. Desperation flitted across her face. She wanted to get out. But, looking at the walls, she would never be able to.

Nott looked at Alyshia and before she could speak out a reply, she felt the ground move from underneath her feet and sent her tumbling down a pit. The air was knocked out of her lungs once she hit the bottom, not able to get out a shriek or cry at the sudden fall. Sharp, quick pain started creeping along her whole body as she tried shifting her body. Opening her eyes, Nott saw that she fell into a trap full of sharp, wooden spears. Lifting her neck to get a better view, she gasped at the painful feeling of her neck.
Her neck was nearly grazed but oh boy did it sting. She had new cuts along her underside, more scars running up her legs and stopping right at her hindquarters. Nott caught whiff of the smell of blood and her eyes widen in horror. The copper-like smell filled her senses and sent her to panic. She started kicking her legs, ignoring the pain that was being inflicted upon her. She had to get out of here. "Oh gods, please get me out of here!" she croaked out. Memories of her childhood started flooding back in and caused her to move more than she should. THIS wasn't what she expected from her mission. She hoped her fellow Valkyries would hurry and get her out of there but she hoped as well the amount of blood she was smelling was her own and not someone else. Word Count: 339 Post #3

CLEMENTINE | WAR FORGED | VALKYRIE
I only wrote this down to make you press rewind and send a message, "I was young and a menace."
Clementine wasn’t sure she could afford to roll her eyes any further towards the back of her head, for she was rather certain the bitter winds would freeze them in place and leave her blind. The blatant flirting and constant call for ‘girls night’ made her feel queasy, and she wished Alyshia would re-focus the group’s attention elsewhere… preferably on the mission at hand.
She didn’t quite feel comfortable in her own body, and it wasn’t just the aging potion that made her this way. She had mixed feelings about being part of the Valkyries; appreciative of the chance of being able to prove herself, but still ostracised from the herd for the simple sake of what lay between her legs. At the call of her name, she broke free of her thoughts and looked up, throwing in a well-placed look of disgust and scowling in answer at the hippocampus’ question. No fucking thanks, Dee Dee.
Before she could think of a clever retort, however, Ava screamed.
Clementine stumbled back at the sound, horror growing as the ground beneath their very feet crumbled away, but it was already too late. She curled in upon herself as she fell, trying to shield her torso from what lay below. As she hit the ground, the breath was knocked clean from her lungs and she simply lay there, dazed, listening to one of the other Valkyries grapple with the numerous pikes. Pain began to flare throughout her body, and she looked around her to try and assess the damage. Spying a protrusion that poked through the top half of her leg, she cursed.
“For Kaia's sake.” she hissed, trying to slide the spear tip out from the wound and eyeing the punctured muscle with growing distaste.

Jushiro | Outsider | War Forged When Delta trotted ahead to show off her tropical fish fins, Jushiro was simply captivated by the color. He still didn't grasp why her fins were so vibrant compared to the earthy muted tones of Onea, but decided to roll with it, assuming tropical meant somewhere more colorful. But honestly looking around, that could be anywhere. As she made the comment about calling him 'Simply Shiro' a grin split over his face again. "I am alright with that." He told the mare, playfully bumping into her shoulder. "Alright, Delta not DeeDee, got it." He teased her back. He stayed paced with the mare and hearing her offer for recon Jushiro lit up, while this was dandy he wanted to get to the bottom of what was happening and help his new home however he could. "Sounds absolutely delightful." His words were sarcastic, after all, what was wonderful abort being trap in a storm. He then trotted off with Delta to speak to Alyshia. The lead mare was too making small talk with some of the other horses. He listened to Delta talked and hearing the name of a fruit looked back at the other tall mare in the group, assuming that was her who was being talked about. He was ready to go with them, forge on ahead. He was not expecting the ground to disappear underneath his split hooves and wooden spikes to impale his body. He felt the pain in his side, and a thin one stabbing through his forearm. Jushiro could not take his eyes off the spike, his breath caught in his throat. He heard a roaring in his ears, a battle field from long ago. He saw the yellow eyes of the pegasus staring into his own blood red irises. Their spear had impaled the base of his neck and chest and went through his leg, the same damn leg being stabbed through right now. The blue kirin wanted to throw up. This was all too damn familiar for his taste. { WC: 340 | Post 3 }

Before Nott could answer, Delta approached Alyshia with an offer to scout ahead with Clementine and the kirin—Jushiro. Right. The spotted mare nodded as she went on, liking this idea and already thinking about asking if there were any naturists here who could pick up on suspicious activity in the surrounding wilderness. Perhaps the small talk, brief as it was, had gone on for too long. If we are to maintain the upper hand against those damned cultists, then we should—
A strange groaning hiss pierced the freezing air, cutting straight through Delta’s last words. Aly’s steps slowed almost instantly as her ears swiveled back to catch wherever the hell that noise was coming from, a bad feeling churning in her gut. She might have looked back behind her after that pause, had there been time.
‘Time’ being the key word, here.
That single moment of hesitance nearly proved to be a big mistake as the ground suddenly gave way underneath her, throwing the Valkyrie into a frantic full-on survival mode. She gasped as her hooves scrambled against the earth for steady footing once more, and with a helpful shove from Delta just barely managed to pull herself over the edge. Her hind leg dangled for only a heartbeat above the gaping maw—Avocado’s pained shriek sending shivers down her spine— before she dragged herself back onto even ground, whirling around immediately to assess the damage for herself.
“F@#$!!!”
As her eyes found Nott and the others, Aly noted with growing dread the spikes that had been laid out at the bottom. No, no, no. This was no ordinary trap. It had been anticipating horses like them to find it, and she was the damned fool who had let her sisters fall right into it. Shame and panic fed the anger growing in her chest, but sense told her to leave it unsated for now.
“Nott,” she started out weakly before stomping her hoof, fueling the self-loathing at her own meekness into a louder shout. “Nott! Don’t move! All of you! If you don’t stop panicking now you’ll only make the wounds worse! Focus on my voice! Breathe! Don’t move again until you can hear yourself think!”
She was only now aware of Poofkin pressing firmly against her legs. The snow leopard was looking up at her with wide eyes, understandably shaken by what had nearly happened to her master, but as much as Alyshia wanted to comfort her familiar, there just wasn’t any time for that.
“Poof, you need to go back the way we came! Get help. None of us are stupid enough to leave our friends here unprotected. I’ll be fine.”
As the snowie raced away from them, the vanner mix tried to get a better look at the pit, testing its walls as much as she dared. They were too tall and steep to climb out of, but there had to be something she could do for her comrades. There was a bitter taste in her mouth as she remembered how much she had longed for Earth Manipulation, and how useful that blessing could have been right now. Kaia had given her Duplication in the hopes that it would ‘teach’ her something, but all Alyshia had learned today was how completely useless she was to her herd. Post #4 | Word Count: 554

A split second was all it took to plunge their small group into a panic. Delta felt the ground beneath her back hooves give out as a tarp and smaller branches disappeared beneath her, forcing her to her belly. Her left rear leg was dangling into the traps' gaping mouth while her right rear leg kicked at the wall to pull herself up. She was vaguely aware of Jushiro's presence vanishing behind her as he fell into the pit. His antlers caught on her supporting rear leg, cutting into her flesh.
The fact that Alyshia's own rear end slid into her neck made it even more difficult. She used all her strength to haul herself back up, headbutting the dark mare's hindquarters as she pushed. Once she and the young mare were steady, she spun around and stared into the hole in shock.
It was a Pit trap.
Those asshole's set a fucking PIT TRAP.
She could see the others. Stabbed and gouged with small sharpened sticks. Avocado seemed to have it worse. She wouldn't stop moving! She just kept shoving those spears into herself even more! Though it didn't take long for her to clue in that moving was not a good idea.
Jushiro was down there too, as was Clementine and Nott. The large Kirin had a spike protruding from his upper leg. That injury would probably cripple him for a few weeks. It had stabbed through a key muscle for Kaia's sake!
She was snapped out of her shock when Alyshia started yelling at them to calm down. Most of them seemed to be relaxing or just in mass amounts of shock. Everyone except Jushiro and Nott.
Delta saw that Aly was trying to calm Nott down, so she turned her focus onto the big Kirin. Moving to his side of the pit, she knelt down and spoke to him gently, craning her neck into the hole,
“Jushiro... Jushiro listen to me. You need to calm down now. C'mon, Hot Stuff, do this for me, okay?” she spoke like a mother trying to soothe a child in shock, calm and quiet, but loud enough for him to hear. Her voice echoed slightly within the pit, “I'm right here, we all are. Just take a deep breath and calm down. You're not alone here, we are with you. But we can't help if you don't calm down for us, okay?”
She wasn't sure if it was working or not, be she could have sworn she saw him settle a bit. A snapping branch startled her. Jumping to her hooves she turned to face the woods behind them. It very well could have been a tree branch breaking from heavy snow or the high winds that were picking up speed.
Either way, it made her uneasy. She just couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. Looking back to the pit, she saw Clementine had a sword with her. Trotting over to the teen's side, Delta stood in the space above her,
“Hey Clem, toss me that please? I got a bad feeling.” she said to the filly, nodding at the blade tucked safely in it's sheath.
She took a moment to stop and think. Okay. Your friend and sisters are stuck in a pit trap. All of them are possibly to injured to stand. None of you have Earth Manipulation or ANY Blessing really, that would be useful.
So how would they get out?
This was going to be a long night.

CLEMENTINE | WAR FORGED | VALKYRIE
I only wrote this down to make you press rewind and send a message, "I was young and a menace."
Clementine watched the others begin to panic as though she wasn’t really there, dissociating from the situation the longer she stared. She looked to the walls that held the group like a mass grave; a thick sheet of ice and sleet covering it, offering no chance of a solid foothold. She listened to the sharpened pikes as they rattled against frenzied, sweaty bodies and closed her eyes. Inhaling deeply, she rocked herself forward and stood up. Blood gushed from the open wound that was now bared to the elements and she staggered, falling against the side of the pit; pressing her shoulder into it to remain upright, shaking.
This was bad, really bad...
White noise buzzed in her head, all but drowning out Alyshia and Delta's words until the hippocampus mentioned her name.
“Hey Clem, toss me that please? I got a bad feeling.”
One oversized ear flicked forward in recognition at the sound, and she pulled the sword begrudgingly from its sheath with a practiced arm, light blue teke glittering off the surface, offering it blade first to the other Valkyrie.
It wasn’t much use down here anyway.

They had covered everything, and to no avail.
Neither the Valkyries nor the kirin had exactly planned on finding themselves stuck in a pit, so nobody had brought ropes or any other useful material. Alyshia had checked with all of them. Nothing.
No one in their party possessed Earth Manipulation, or even Plant to try and grow some half-decent vines to work with.
The ground was too frozen by the cold for proper digging, ruling out the option of making a slope for the others to climb up. That suggestion was shot down almost immediately by the others, and with good reason. The attempt could have easily done more harm than good for the only two valks left standing.
Branches had been proposed, but as another had pointed out, what branches would be strong enough to hold an equine’s weight?
And they were all injured in some way or another. Trying to lift each other out of that literal hellhole may only make things worse.
The harder they all tried to come up with a good plan, the more it seemed like they were speaking in circles. Alyshia’s nostrils flared, frustration thankfully smothering the panic lingering in the back of her mind. This entire thing was ridiculous. This was a good patrol full of capable warriors, and now most of them were trapped in that thing while she and Delta could only stand there blinking stupidly.
Aly tried to gauge how long it had been since she’d sent Poofkin to find help. She wondered if her poor frazzled familiar had found anyone by now… or—hopefully not—encountered less than savory company.
For now, that was a possibility she'd like to avoid thinking about.

It seemed like not much time passed before there was an odd scratch at the large wooden door. Casper noticed it before Addeva did, the snow leopard suddenly standing and darting towards the door as a chirping Poofkin pushed through.
Blood. And no Alyshia.
Addeva immediately stood, her heart racing while her mind ran just as fast. Where was her sister? Poofkin clearly knew, using her own way to usher the valkyies to follow. As quickly as the zonkey could muster, she grabbed her dagger and slipped its holster on. Casper stood next to Poof at the door, sniffing the blood on her pelt. Addeva looked at her fellow sisters-in-arms, a clear worry but fiery determination to find Alyshia and the others because clearly...something was not right. "I'm going to follow Poofkin, I...we need to find the others!"
Without waiting for protest or agreement, Addeva was out the door and into the blizzard. She followed the cream colored snow leopard loping ahead of her, her eyes squinting to shield the billowing snow smacking her face while Casper ran beside her. She didn't know what waited for them when they arrived...wherever it was they were going. But one thing she knew: the blood on Poofkin was a sign that it was not going to be good.
And...she should have probably waited for the others, or possibly instruction from one of the older mares. Oh Kaia she hoped they follow after her.

Nott | War-Forged | Valkyrie
Still panicking at her situation, Nott was too focused on the fact she was trapped. A trap that made matters worse. She wasn't too distracted when she caught Alyshia's voice. She glanced upwards, fear glazed over her amber colored eyes and searched for her. Knowing that the group's party leader was alright gave Nott a sense of relief.
"Nott, Nott! Don't move! All of you! If you don't stop panicking now you'll only make the wounds worse! Focus on my voice! Breathe! Don't move again until you can hear yourself think!" She heard Alyshia shout to her from above. As if she could do any of that but it didn't hurt to try, right? Making her body stop moving around, Nott closed her eyes and took deep, slow breaths. She repeated this action until she felt like she could focus properly.
This isn't the time and place to panic right now. I need to be a Valkyrie, not a stupid foal. Opening her eyes back up slowly, Nott took in her surroundings, seeing the what the trap looked like. She saw the sharp, wooden spears and how deep the pit was. Gazing over her wounds, she noticed how utterly silly she was. They all looked minor but they did of course sting.
Nott's ears fidgeted for a bit, listening to her surroundings. Alright, I need to woman up and literally get myself up and help out the others who didn't fall in. Hoisting herself up slowly, she took in small breaths to ignore the pain.
"Alright, alright, I'm calm now. Thank you Alyshia. But, do you know how we're going to get ourselves out? Despite how deep it is in here, you got to make sure this wasn't some short of distraction..." Nott shouted out to the mare above.
Something didn't feel right. This felt like a distraction from their surroundings. But right now, she just hoped she can get herself and the others who fell in out of here safely and most certainly, calmly. Taking a closer look, Nott lifted her leg and started pawing at the dirt that was along the pit's walls. What felt like weeks of being in here even though she knew a few hours had only passed, an idea struck her.
"Hey! What if we can get the soft dirt to pile up and make some short of little slope with these wooden spears?"

L O R E N C I O "Innocence is like polished armor - it adorns and defends." ......
Lorencio paused in his play with the foals as the door slammed open, letting in a gust of freezing cold air and snowflakes dancing in like fairies on an Aodh summer breeze. In the doorway stood a leopard, its fur fluffed to protect it from the cold and red streaks down its sides. Lorencio's heart started pounding in his chest and he took an unconscious step backwards. What was about to happen now? First it had been pirates, then it had been vagabonds, and now what? A giant army of leopards here to take him and the little foals away?
His initial fears were slightly calmed when the older mares recognized the fluffy cat. At least the adults knew what to do. Or did they? One of them, a fluffy one with big long ears, darted out the door after the cat. Where was she going? Lorencio couldn't be sure, but he knew something was happening. What if someone needed help? He had to find out.
He called Scorch and ran to the door, stopping only to grab the coat his mom had given him back in the fall and pull it on. It was so cold out there.
As he stepped out the door, the full force of the wind hit him and he nearly went back inside, but it only took one thought of someone needing his help to send him running after the fluffy War-Forged mare, Scorch following in his wake.

Amber
Warforged | Valkyrie
The moment the leopard came scrathing at the door, Amber knew there was trouble. She had known it before, just knew they had been back to late and something was up, but that stupid raider had to wave it off. Now they were here, with Alyshia’s familair covered in blood and no valkyrie in sight. “Something’s wrong. We need to go help.” Amber had the mind to put on her coat and grab her weapons. It’d be no use going out there to freeze to death or end up in a confrontation without weapon handy. That’d be like walking off a cliff, only falling off a cliff would probably be a quicker end. Geared up, she took off towards the door where Addeva had already rushed through.
She paused, throwing a look back and considering the children. “Someone will need to stay behind with them,” she said, gesturing at the room. Then she turned als stepped into the cold, following the vague figures off those before her. It was cold and it was ridiculous. “Addeva!” she called, raising her cloak in front of her in an attempt to shield her eyes a little bit. “Slow down a little or we’ll loose eachother in this storm.”
She looked behind her to see if anyone else was following and was suprised to see one of their charges walking up beside her. He must have followed her or she must have passed him without noticing. “Lorencio, what are you doing? Go back now!” she called, immediatly annoyed that the colt had managed to slip away. They didn’t have time for this.

Ava had been staring at the blood streaming down her legs, the crimson splashed tips of the spears still prodding her underside. She swayed a bit, head spinning as slowly, she shook her head, lowering her muzzle.
Ow.
Ava opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. Her eyes widened in the dimness. She tried again. No dice. Ava shook her head wildly, raising her head to try and strain to see. Her tail lashed wildly, back and forth, scattering crimson every time it lashed. A stomp of her hoof, another soundless scream.
Nature drew in. The birds turned their heads towards the pit. Animals were seemingly drawn in. Ava's blessing reacting to her high strung emotion. Ava raised up, her ears laid back against her head. The unicorn trembled, sobbing where she stood. Her tail fell behind her. And for a moment, it was just nature and herself, cold blasting from her nostrils as Ava trembled, world spinning around her. Her lightheadedness came from blood loss, she realized.
"Need to staunch the wounds " Her voice finally escaped, rough and grated with disuse. It was horrible, talking again, but it was working. It was working!

Shiro couldn't tear his eyes off the spike. His blood red eyes were transfixed on the spike coated in his blood. He felt something clawing at the back of his mind. Roaring but silent. But there was something else there. Something much more persistent and loud right now, drowning the rest of the noise in his head out. He heard Delta's words “I'm right here, we all are. Just take a deep breath and calm down. You're not alone here, we are with you". Jushiro loosened a breath he had not realized he had been holding. AS he inhaled and air rushed to his lungs he blinked his eyes. Once his reptilian eyes adjusted, he took in the part of the team stuck down here. His graze traveled over each of them before looking back at his leg, this was the main thing keeping him down, he realized.
He shifted and hissed at the pain, but set his jaw and shifted his body, bringing his other cloven hoof forewords. He slid the impaled leg up and growled at the pain, it hurt like a fucking bitch. But once his leg was raise enough he used his other leg to kick the spike. It took a while till the wood splintered, and finally broke. Cautiously Shiro hefted himself up. As he put pressure on his leg he let out a cry of pain and stumbled, but his other three legs locked, keeping him up still. "shit fucking hell." He swore under his breath, he felt his blood slide down his leg but refuse to look. "If you guys get up, can you use my back as a stepping stool?" He asked them.

DELTA The snow was falling harder now. Delta wasnt sure how long it had been, but she guessed it had been hours. Having picked up Clementines sword, she stood guard, listening to the others trade ideas on how they were going to get the four out of the pit. Jushiro's voice was pleasant to hear and Delta found herself letting out a tence breath she hadn't known she was holding. She walked back over to the pits edge after hearing the Kirin sudgest they use him as a stool, "Nobel offer, Hot Stuff, and i mean no offence to your strength, but you can hardly hold youself up, much less another horse. Not with that leg." she said in a soft voice, giving him a sympatheyic smile. As Nott and Aly talked about another escapd plan, Delta walked ahead of the pit, back tracking a few paces. The wind was blowkng towards the mountains, back the way they came. She parted her lips and gave a long, shrill whistle through her teeth. It was a decent immitation of a Kestrel's scream to the untrained ear, but a signal to anothers. She hoped someone got the message. --------------------- Words: 195 | Post: 5

Some time passed, she just wasn't sure just how much. It was all a bit of a blur as Addeva galloped through the snow covered ground, hot on Poofkin's heels. Others were following, though her mind didn't register who was running alongside her. Amber's words were lost on the adrenaline-rushed teenager.
Blue eyes were fixed ahead with the occasional look around. Hopefully they were close...she was thinking the worst. What if they ran into the Bloody Flanks? Or whoever made Holmsa sink into the ground? The thought of Alyshia half buried pushed Addeva's little legs to run with even more urgency.
A shrill whistle reached her large ears. Wait, was that a signal? Forms could be seen off into the distance. With one last push, Addeva arrived in the clearing.
Oh thank Kaia, Aly was still taller than her.
"Alyshia! Delta!" She bumped Aly's shoulder in greeting. "Where's the--" The zonkey noticed the gaping hole in the ground, looking down to see the gruesome scene in front of her. "--others" She finished her sentence weakly. Crap.
Without a second thought, Addeva untied her fur cloak as she came up to the side of the pit. Calling on her ties to the earth, her weight shifted. The snow and dirt beneath her gave way to the sudden change, as if the tiny valkyrie had the weight of a giant boulder. She tossed one end of her antler-ed cloak off the side, the other end she held tightly between her teeth. She was prepared to use her body as leverage to try to hoist someone up. "Try to grab on!"
Hopefully they could try to reach.
