Noatak
It was far too early to be up at this hour but his father was adminet about getting Noa to the other adults to be looked after. Noa not fully awake seemed to stumble over his steps as he followed along to be dropped off with the adults that would care for him. The past three months his life has changed making him revert deep into himself. A shell of the quiet child he used to be. Yet from one of his father missing, he had a secret of his own, well at least the children of desert did. They found a relic and showed it off to each other. Making sure it stayed in their hooves and not the adults. It vibrated, but recently it started humming.
The thought made him glance around nervously as if being watched. Perhaps it was wrong to hide, but then again it was them all that had helped solved it. Noa shook trotted to the usual area as he was dropped off by his father. His words forgotten as he merely nuzzled his father goodbye before running off to the a lone cactus and looked around for the other kids that would be watched and tried to signal them to him. Noa had a few things to say, and it was only for the other kids ears for now at least.

Pearl was pleasantly surprised at the news of the humming. It was soothing, fascinating, wondrous. So many things about the mysterious relic that were still kept hidden from them all and she was eager to find out. She'd settled down after making more attempts to friends with the locals, with her brothers by her side, Pearl was finally starting to feel less bothered and more open to the strange culture. She'd always go back to listen to Ryacon's teachings though! Talori was her true culture. She knew that much and always reminded herself not to get too carried away.
But one local had managed to become a good friend of her's. Noatak, the previous Sultan's son. She wasn't quite sure how he managed to stick around, but he did. He kept her comfort and company in the days following the discovery. He'd shown her far more of the herd's positive attributes and y'know what? His wings weren't as scary anymore- They all weren't. However, today Pearl knew that the focus wasn't so much on everyone else. It was that relic. Noatak had let the children know that something was to be discussed and Pearl would always jumpy for an opportunity to see her friend. Even if it meant donning a silk cover that covered a large majority of her body and shielded her identity. It wasn't great but if it prolonged her ability to be out in the sun- She'd take it.
Noticing Noatak by the cactus, she glanced around at the few adults nearby...Just in view. It was out of earshot. Smirking to herself, she plodded over to the pegasus foal. "Good morning Noa~" She greeted, her voice chipper and her tail wiggling under the silk. "Should we wait for the others?" Pearl couldn't help but to ask in defeat, pulling puppy eyes through the veil. Perhaps being a friend would get her answers before everyone else....? No? Awh.

Eyrin | Savior
Eyrin tried not to worry about those who left, but he did. He worried for those of his family who might not return, fallen in a foreign country. They had so little information and it made him feel on edge. He fussed about his patients and friends even more than before, constantly on his hooves to make sure everyone was alright in an attempt to calm his worries. Perhaps his family he noticed or had gotten tired of him, because it was casually suggested he’d help babysit more the last few weeks. Perhaps it was because he kept checking in on Pangolin.
He smiled as he watched the little colt dart aroud, not sure what he was chasing. Wings fluttered buzzily so perhaps he was trying to fly. It’d be a few years though. Inigo had been hanging around his legs earlier, but he’d made his way over to the kids now and Eyrin would be happy to report that fact back to Ila and Io. It was nice seeing these small ones change and grow up. Amongst the foals where foreigners. Children were cute no matter the herd, he noted.
Taking his eyes of off the children for a second, he turned his attention to the elderly. Well, one elder. He smiled at the mare. “If you need anything, please let me know,” he offered. It was still morning, but once it got warmer he’d need to make sure everyone would have enough to drink.

Haven || Tenderfoot Haven trotted along happily in front of his mother, enjoying the feeling of the sun warming his fur as he shook the sleepiness from his limbs. His mind was racing with thoughts of the relic he and his friends and siblings had discovered not too long ago. It had been awesome and super cool when they found it, but now it was vibrating and humming which was even cooler! Of course he was dying to tell mama about it, but he'd promised Noa that he wouldn't say a word to the adults. He would ask his friend today though if he could at least tell mama. After all, his mama was the best in the whole wide world and she was super smart too! Surely she would know what the relic was and why it was doing all those weird things. As soon as the other foals came into sight Haven perked up even more. Glancing back at his mama he waited for her to nod before he pranced ahead, calling out to his friends and sister. "Noa, Pearl!" He whinnied, then turned to grin at Inigo, "Inigo, come on over here!"

Malik | Talori | Tenderfoot Excitement buzzed through Malik's veins, causing his pace to quicken into a fast paced walk beside his twin sister, Pearl, as they made their way on their little adventure for the day with Odette guiding them along the way. Something about this place always seemed to draw his curiosity to places where he probably shouldn't be, but who was going to stop him from listening in on a little adult discussion about the mysterious relic that had been kept secret for months? Sure, Odette, who had been taking care of he and Pearl since their mother's passing, would probably try to interfere with any real fun they might have, but she wasn't his mother. He liked her well enough, but a piece of his heart felt as though it would always be a little colder and harder after the loss of his mom, and he didn't think that part of him would ever be able to accept anyone else into that role.
The dark colt shook his head of his troubling thoughts, causing his wildly messy hair to fall into his face. There was no time for sadness. They were on a mission to find out about this mysterious relic that was creating the steady, thrumming hum that both soothed and exhilarated the young equine. Thank the gods his sister's friend, Noatak, had connections to the higher up in the herd and had heard about this secret meeting. While Noatak took time away from him that he could be spending with Pearl, he had to admit that she seemed happy when she was with him which meant Malik spent a good portion of his time biting back his jealously. He could make friends too if he wanted to... he was likeable and funny and his mother had always said he was handsome. Whatever. He liked exploring by himself anyways.
His eyes followed after his sister's pale coat as she trotted off to greet Noatak who stood slightly behind a lone cactus, just out of earshot of the adults. He followed shortly after Haven broke away from Odette, trotting to catch up with the other foals. His tail wagged excitedly, and a broad grin appeared on his face as his gaze focused on the older horses ahead of them. "Have you heard anything that sounds important yet, Noatak?" Malik asked curiously, ignoring his sister's chipper tone. When in the world did she start sounding so happy all the time? Or maybe it was just because he was used to hearing her irritated, rational tone of voice instead.

Inigo | The folk
Inigo had initially stayed under Eyrin’s legs, observing the other kids from a distance. They weren’t like him. Some had wings, but none had scales like he did. It didn’t seem like anyone ever did. Eyrin had ensured him it was fine, that it would be alright to go out and play. His mom and Io trusted Eyrin, right? Then whatever he said should be true. He could trust him. The other foals did seem to be having fun and he was itching to join in. He ran over to Pangolin, squeeling as the other foals ran in circles. He made sure to still make a somewhat wide circle around the foals he didn’t know though. Another voice he knew called out and he smiled brightly as he bounded towards his friend.
“Haven!” he yelled, eyes sparkling. He beat his wings furiously as if he was flying, even if he didn’t get an inch off the ground. He was so buzzy planning his ‘landing’ that he was too late stopping his run and ran headfirst into the colt that had called him. He fell back onto his butt, pouting up at his friend. He had been sure he’d land properly this time. He guessed flying just wasn’t easy.

Noatak
We're just kids we aren't supposed to be heroes
Eyes glanced up to spot Pearl coming over with sibling following after, but not as swiftly as her. He beamed with delight ruffling his winged feathers as he grinned brightly. "Pearl, good morning to you." he spoke to her gently, but excitement rang within his voice. He looked as others came and approached and he nodded and greeted him all, even if seemed to not be so impressed.
First he coughed lightly to draw the attention, something he had seen his father do, and his father was an equine with respect and Noa seemed to stand a bit straighter, trying to be a bit better then his forever slouching and hiding within himself posture. "Glad everyone is here! Welcome welcome." he flustered a bit, he was not used to the attention and he found himself slouching a bit. Oh quicksand he thought sheepishly, he was no good at this. "Well the weapon, the weird artifact thing, well things are getting odd with it." he remarked as he eyed the adults faintly, assuring they were not close enough to hear.
Noa wasn't going to take any risk though, he shuffled forwards, spreading out his wings to assure the wind did not carry his voice. "Well its been humming more, getting louder I fear someone will hear it from where we hid it." he gulped faintly. "Even the rocks around it are vibrating from within the hidden spot. I..." he gulped faintly. "My fathers been moody and I can feel something is up. I think we should tell the adults." he groaned a bit. He didnt want to be that colt that had to go and run and tell the adults everything, but things where bad and Noa didn't want someone else to find the item. "So what do you all think?" he asked taking in their thoughts and if the group felt they shouldn't show it well he hoped that was the best choice.

He didn't really want to be here, he wanted to be useful to his brothers and sisters, but not in this way. Babysitting with a bunch of strangers. He preferred his herd mates, even unknown ones, he would stick closer to them. Still not too close, he eyed the group warily, a couple older folk and a lot of the youngsters. He adjusted his cloak as he watched the kids group up, he had seen his brother do this as a kid, but Tore liked his personal space. With nothing much to do, his mind drifted off to thoughts of his brother. David had most likely gone off to fight with many others, it frightened Tore that he might never see him again. He hadn't talked with David since Tore had left his old home. Honestly, he was afraid that David would betray him just as mother had. He quickly jerked away from those thoughts, the last thing he needed now was a trip down nightmare memory lane. He looked around a bit sheepishly and hid his face with his forelock.

Pearl's smile grew at Noatak's greeting. It made her little face light up in a soft red, was it the heat or how sweet he was? He was a refreshing friend in comparison to her brother. Her brother's rambunctious behaviour was fun and sure made for great adventures but she found herself drawn more to the relaxing moments with Noatak. Less sweating and exhaustion and more...Hm. She wasn't sure what there was more of. She just knew that she was finding ways to ditch her brother Malik to spend time with Noatak.
She leaned over and budged her brother's shoulder, eyes widening in surprise when the Kirin bounded in and slammed into her other brother- Haven. Pearl flattened her ears and furrowed her brows, lowering her head down towards the kirin. "Uhm....A-Are you..." She scrunched up her nose and raised her head again, too soft and warm for a princess. "Perhaps it would be wise to be more aware of...Whom you're running into...Inigo?" She raised her voice in pitch with her question trying to confirm his name, glaring down at the young horse. Pearl let out a sigh, stepping away from her brother and into the shade of Noa's wing.
He cleared his throat to gain their attention, which of course Pearl dutifully gave. She listened with intent, keeping a stoic expression as he explained the situation with the artifact.
"No."
She looked up at Noatak with wide eyes, swallowing. "I-I mean...It still needs studying, it's our artifact, we found it, we're not dumb- We can do it ourselves...Right?" She inhaled deeply, flicking her ears in thought. "If we told the adults....What if we got in trouble?" Pearl looked over at Malik, recalling multiple times where her brother got her into trouble for the silly small things. What if this artifact was like that? Something that was pure and innocent quickly ruined by adult's judgement. She whipped her tail. "I think...If we were to tell however, who would we tell? Your first instinct are the Serrorans. Ours are the Talori.... Would it be a good idea to create a further divide between the adults of the different herds?" She asked, her facing growing hot in embarrassment. She knew there was some sort of... Peace and arrangement between the adults but what, that was a different question. She didn't know what to make of the situation, she just...Wanted to look at the artifact more.
"I'm sorry, I'll just..." She muffled her own words beneath her veil, stepping back and closer to Noa's side in shame. Perhaps that was just too much talking Pearl.

This morning was much like any other morning, or it would have been if her duty post hadn’t changed. With so many of the adults being reassigned to war tasks the demand for care providers went up and saw many who would not normally be watching children suddenly pressed into the task. Andine of course, always watched children and yet even her routine was changed by this sudden need. She found herself assigned not to the children of her nomad group but on loan to aid in the guarding of city and refugee children. This made her more than a little concerned. It wasn’t that she didn’t think herself up to the task, children are children after all. Still, Serora could not afford to have anything happen to Talori children in their care, not now of all times, and this made the responsibility even more weighty than usual.
Despite her misgivings she woke bright and cheery and tried her best to get a good start to the day. When she arrived at the appointed place to find that she was one of only four watchers posted there and that, to her knowledge, none of the others were regular care giver’s her mood darkened just a little. She didn’t let this show though and approached with a friendly smile, looking as professional as she could. A polite, respectful dip of her head greats the unknown foreign woman (Odette) and then she spots a familiar face in the mix.
“Oh! Good morning Savior Eyrin, I didn’t expect to find you here.” It occurs to her then that he hasn’t seen her in more than a year and she has grown significantly since.
“I’m Savior Fern’s granddaughter, Andine. How have you been?” A frown clouds her features for a moment as she wonders why he is here. Could someone be hurt? No, surely not. He isn’t behaving as he would be if he were on site to treat a patient. It must just be added insurance to have a medic on hand in case anything went wrong today. Yes, that had to be it. She shakes herself, offers another smile and nod to Eyrin before moving on to the final member of today’s team (Tore). It is a pleasant surprise to find that he is a good looking young stallion not much older than she is.
“Hey, handsome. How have I not met you before?” Her steps are light, dancing movements, her lashes flutter and her tail flicks in a flirtatious manner. Despite the obvious interest, it doesn’t take long for her to become distracted from this game as movement over near a large cactus attracts her attention. All five of the children have made an appearance now and they are huddled there just out of ear shot whispering among themselves. This is hardly unusual for children but such gatherings normally explode into the activity involved in one game or another after only a few minutes. The current gaggle just keeps right on chattering in those hushed whispers… but not laughing, at all. Hmmmm… Her next question is addressed to the older folk in general.
“What do you think that lot is up to?”

Eyrin
Savior | Cis Male
Eyrin smiled as one of the younger foal watchers wandered over to him. He nodded as she introduced herself, having recognized her. She had grown though. She was getting more like an adult. It sort of made Eyrin feel older as well. "I remember you, Andine. I've been doing well. Or at least as much as recent times have allowed. How is Fern doing? How has life treated you so far? Have you had your ceremony yet?"
The mare seemed somewhat distracted by the other teen though and Eyrin's eyes drifted back to the children, figuring they'd have enough time to talk later. He was patient, didn't mind waiting. The kids seemed to have huddled, Pangolin and Inigo also standing still for a minute. Huh, that was curious. Andine seemed to have noticed as well as she commented on it. Eyrin chuckled. "I don't know, but it must be very interesting if it managed to calm Inigo down for a second."
He squinted his eyes, trying to see what expressions they were making. Pangolin who usually was buzzy bossing other children around, stood still now as well, seemingly intently listening to what was being said. Eyrin hummed thoughtfully, glancing at his fellow babysits. "Want to go see what they're up too?"

Malik | Talori | Tenderfoot Malik’s large, disk-shaped ears swiveled forward as the young pegasus ruffled his wings and coughed quietly to draw everyone’s attention to him. Not noticing how Noatak straightened his posture just a little, Malik focused solely on the topic of which the other colt spoke of: the mysterious artifact. It was like they were in some kind of bedtime story that someone would tell a kid before bed, but this time they were the heroes of the tale instead of some knight or king.
Lost in his own thoughts, Malik nearly missed when Noa mentioned telling the adults about the strange, vibrating artifact. With a shocked expression, the hippocampus shook his head, the fins along his spine standing as straight as they could. “No way! The adults will just take it away from us, and Pearl’s right. We’ll probably just end up in trouble if they found out.” The dark foal said with a soft snort and took a step toward his twin who had stepped back in embarrassment, oblivious to how she had stepped slightly closer to Noatak. “We can figure this out ourselves. Bringing adults in will just cause more problems I think. They already have a lot of problems to deal with like war and stuff, and this thing might make it worse.” Malik thought aloud, his green eyes flickering across the other children around him. “And think about how proud they’d be of us if we figured this thing out alone! We’d be famous! We’d have tales told about us for ages!” Malik said excitedly, beaming at Noatak with a wide grin. They’d be famous- if this artifact was even something worth being famous about that is.

Noatak
We're just kids we aren't supposed to be heroes
Well to say everyone would be on his point of few, was clearly a negative. While he was raised to be honest regardless, he listened to Pearl and Malik and felt uneasy about it all. No this really wasn't right. Something felt not good about it all. Wrong. He chewed on his lower lip and glanced at all the kids while the adults talked elsewhere.
"Well come on lets go see and figure it out. It's not acting the same, maybe we should figure it out? I think we should try to figure it out sooner then later. Its been acting differently" he remarked in hushed voices. They would have to sneak off, which shouldn't be too hard Noa assumed.
"Come on now, you have to see it." he urged them as he trotted off towards the large rock, the tent rock where they were able to hide the artifact within it. Hiding it with rocks to assure nothing looked out of place. As Noa lead the group not to far off from where the adults where, he was thankful they all met this close. A gift from Alya perhaps? Still Noa removed the rocks and let out a sudden gasp.
The artifact was warping about the rocks around it shaking and Noa gulped. "Guys...." he mummer out as he took a step back so that all could see the artifact move and wobble about, the hum louder and suddenly what seemed to be safe, not longer felt so safe. "This isn't good." Noa thought aloud.

Inigo
The folk (baby) | Cis male
Inigo pouted as he picked himself up, fixing the white one with a miffed look. “Flying ‘s hard,” he offered as explanation. She wouldn’t understand because she didn’t have wings. Still he gave Haven an apolegetic look, shuffling closer towards him and away from Pearl. “Inigo is sorry,” he whispered, hoping Haven wouldn’t mind. He didn’t have that many friends.
His attention was diverted to whatever the rest of them were making a fuss about. “What is it?” he asked. There was nothing to see, they were discussing something. “Adults are nice,” he also said. He liked the adults in his family at the very least.
He trudged along as they all moved to follow Noatak, eyes gleaming curiously. Hus head cocked to the side as the pegasus in question revealed… Well, he wasn’t sure what it was but it made the looks look funny. He gigled, seeing why everybody liked the toy. He wondered what games he could play with it.
“Good?” he questioned Noatak. Why wasn’t it good? It was making the rock dance. Lacking teke he reached out with his nose, intent on touching it. “Fun,” he corrected.
Pangolin however screamed in alarm and darted away from him. His loss, Inigo thought.

Eyrin
Savior | Cis male
Eyrin followed curiously as the youngsters walked off. What were they up to? They seemed preocupied with something at least. He hoped they weren’t doing something they shouldn’t, trying to catch an animal or something. He started walking a little faster as the idea of snakes passed his mind.
Suddenly Pangolin was yelling and darting towards him, making Eyrin sprint over towards the group of children in alarm. “What’s going on?” He skidded to a halt, trying to find whatever it was that had Pan spooked. He was just in time to pull Inigo away from something between the rocks. For a second he was afraid it actualy was a snake. Dear Cascade, did he bring anti-venom? Did anyone get bitten?
Getting a better look with Inigo out of the way however, he saw it wasn’t a creature of death, rather a… a trinket of some kind? It hummed and wobbled in place. He had never seen anything like it before. “Stay back,” he instructed the children. “Is everyone alright? Did someone touch it?” He glanced them over quickly, assesing for any sign of injury but found none aside from slightly scraped knees on Inigo.
He watched the trinket again, before looking over towards Andine. “You seen anything like this?” It looked old. Eyrin bit his lip, teke absently stroking the quivering Pangolin between his legs in order to sooth the foal. “Perhaps we should take it to a mullah?” He would feel better taking this to someone with more wisdom.

Andine | Serora - Folk
Andine answers with a bright smile when Eyrin nods in recognition. It is, after all, always good to be remembered. "Glad to hear it. Fern is... well, she is Fern grumpy but as good a teacher as ever. I am doing good, thank you."
The smile fades and is replaced with a shrug when he asks about her ceremony though. "Not yet..."
There are many reasons for this not the least of which being the current political state of affairs. That thought reminds her of the siblings who serve in Serora's fighting ranks and leaves her selfishly hoping that they are kept in the force guarding the desert itself rather than sent to fight in foreign lands out of reach of family. Despite the sore spot it might be for her, postponed ceremonies are hardly the most important things at the moment. Her sudden turn of attention to the teen boy might have been partly to distract herself from such thoughts. He doesn’t give her any sign of interest though, at least none that she catches, so her interest wanes rather quickly. The movements among the foals caused her eyes to narrow suspiciously especially when Eyrin remarks on the stillness of a child he claims is hardly ever still. Normally Andine would make an effort not to interrupt the children’s games but there is a fine line between not ruining fun and allowing her charges to endanger themselves. Something about this current situation makes her think it is too risky to just keep watching. “Yeah, we had better go see.”
The medic has already begun to move though and she quickly notes that it is because the foals have broken off their huddle and disappeared around the side of a large rock. Not good… Leaping forward the painted girl chases after Eyrin and arrives on the scene just in time to watch him pull the scaled lad away from something hidden within the rock. Her first thought, like his, is that some venomous creature was lying in wait for the young ones there. If that is the case he is still the best one to deal with it, despite her own training, but she could make herself useful. There are no sounds of pain or other signs of injury however just an odd just buzzing hum so loud it is a wonder they did not hear it before now. She pushes forward between small figures until she can see around Eyrin. The thing is like nothing she has ever seen or heard herself. Though the sound does put her in mind of a ticking time bomb… probably because the responsibility for the safety of their Talori guest has her more on edge than usual. “I certainly haven’t. A Mullah… yes, if anyone would know… but taking would involve touching it maybe we should bring a Mullah here. Meanwhile I think everyone should keep a safe distance in case it is gearing up to explode or something.”Her eyes go a little wild at that thought wondering how in the world who ever survived would explain it if such a thing happened. She doesn’t run though it is surely her first instinct, instead she turns and starts trying to herd the children away towards safety.

As the oldest present, Eyrin's word goes. With a brief discussion with Noatak in which the child advised that the strange thing had been played with several times and hadn't hurt him yet, the decision was made to gingerly wrap it up and take it along to the festival tonight. You get the kids packed up and set out, a camel pulling the youngins along.
A gathering of advocates, mullahs and the prophet ought to know what to do. Of course, there's also the awe of God's Landing to deal with!
