Miles Pirate
As Ceto promptly marched back to voice her opinion on the matter at hand, Miles took a quick glance at the unicorn, Zhen, before remembering Joti was behind him. He was fine with watching over her, as it was not only a new job for the crew, but he could stay out of the discussion. His opinion was whatever his captain’s was. It was a rule he had to learn as he jumped from crew to crew. Follow your captain or else you wouldn’t get paid. Or worse. It was something the young pegasus, Tegan, would have to learn in due time.
Miles looked behind him at the captain’s young daughter, moving his tail to lightly swipe over her head.
“Let’s wait for your mother where it isn’t so crowded. I don’t want you to accidentally get stepped on,” he said, softly.
With a quick glance, Miles picked out a, more open, spot. It was towards the back of the crowd, and he was sure Ceto would be able to find them with no issue once this whole ordeal was over. As he walked towards the area, he had to make sure Joti would follow him. She was immensely curious for her age and could be distracted by anything. He reached out with his blessing, finding the nearest ales and pulled the liquid from their mugs. A few who noticed were taken aback by the sudden disappearance of their vice of choice, though they really couldn’t stop it.
Miles let the liquid circle around Joti, hoping this would be enough to keep her attention. He stretched the liquids out, made them almost dance in front of the foal as he finally came to a stop. He split the liquid into two halves, one that hovered near him and with the other he brought to his muzzle. He softly blew into the ale in front of him, making small bubbles and separated the bubbles from the half, letting them float off on their own. Foals liked bubbles, right?
He did the same with the other half, until there wasn’t any more of the liquid left. The bubbles floated around Joti, bumping into her gently and some even popped as they bounced off her tentacles. The ones that stayed intact eventually did catch the wind and start to float away, only to pop either mid air or when they bounced against something.
The blue roan took a small moment to see how the votes were going and it seemed like more horses were in favor of siding with the Aodh and War-forged. He wondered what the Keeper had to say about that. Post: 4 | Words: 440

Kraken | Rogue Captain
Kraken couldn't help but feel a self-centered bout of pride as he noted that most of the crowd seemed to be agreeing with him. They likely would have come to the same conclusion without his input, but that made no difference to him. He was not surprised, though, to hear the few dissenting voices.
He turned to the loudest source of opposition. It was another captain, he knew that much. The name he was less sure of. Something starting with an "S." A non-threat, whoever he was. He opened his mouth to reply, but was beat to the punch by a dark stallion standing at the edge of the crowd. Kraken gave a solemn nod in agreement. "He's right. We are doing nothing more than existing under a regime that looks down on us," he gestured to the gathered crowd with a sweep of his head, "every one of us, as trash. They might provide us with many exports, but that's only because it serves their own purposes, not because they respect us in any way. Aodh has rarely been anything but welcoming of what we bring them, and I feel quite sure that they would not turn down our help. Pirates have existed for as long as equine have sailed the seas, and can continue to exist without the "help" of the Talori.
"We're rogues. Do we not claim to live outside of the laws of the herd? Are we not supposed to be free and independent from the Talori? And instead we have been tamed - afraid to bite the hoof that feeds us. If we side against them, yes, we break the truce that has existed. But we also break the chains that tie us to them.
"They are a dying nation. As I said, the Flock has destroyed most of the defenses. The Defender himself was cut down, along with many of the guardians. Talori's own citizens are imprisoned. The secrecy that protected the herd is quickly dissolving. When this ship sinks I do not want to be shackled to it."

SamaelRogue Captain - The Bloody Siren “Any damn fool can navigate the world sober. It takes a really good sailor to do it drunk.”
Samael shook his head slightly, almost unable to believe what he was hearing. Even then, it wasn't that unbelievable. Neither Ceto nor Kraken had fond relations with the mainland, and he shouldn't have been surprised that their immediate reaction was to jump ship. Still, a part of him could not believe that they were so naive as to believe that the Aodh would just welcome them with open arms... at least not after a declaration of war. Even if the rogues defected, what was to say the Aodh would even believe them? For all the Aodh would know, they could be spies sent to wreak havoc among them on behalf of the Talori. No, he would stand firm in his decision. At least with Aquore they had some kind of a shot at survival. Alone? They'd never survive. "Are you all really that daft?" He hollered, mild exasperation edging into his voice. "You speak of cutting our ties to the mainland, but to what end? If we leave now, we'll be slaughtered, either by the Talori themselves, or by the other nations they have protected us against thus far. We wouldn't last a year on our own. You call the Talori a dying nation, but I contend if we leave, we are no better off. If anything, we could use this as an opportunity to negotiate with the mainland, use it to strengthen ourselves instead of weakening ourselves. A lone fish gets picked off easily, at least a school of them stands a chance." Samael snorted, looking around the crowd before returning his gaze to the Keeper.

.V I O N A .Freed Slave | Entertainer
Viona ate her words with silence and awe as the equine of the hour finally made an appearance, standing in a forcefully breached doorway with all the amusement of a hassled pygmy dragon stirred from slumber. A hush had fallen over the crowd, although with the current state of things- the quiet was far more deafening than the previous banter.
So then it was. War was coming.
Of course her heart went out to Aodh, that was the first thing that came to mind. Aodhian by birth, Ignacio her patron God- but a slave. She'd been property, and object to be owned. No allegiance to anyone but her master. The foreigner knew the wiles, sin, and oppression of the fire kingdom first hand.. She'd avoided the brand when she had the chance- what would aligning with them bring in the end? Would the iron finally catch up to her? Viona chewed her lip, humming softly as she heard the others speak. It reminded her of the last time she'd been drawn into a political meeting. Advisor Isador had sought to overthrow King Amadeus and had looked to those of like minds for answers and support. In the end, Viona would note choose war. Just as she had chose against the murder of an innocent and ignorant child..
The roan mare wondered if he'd been successful in the endeavor.. She hadn't received word from Dimitri in what seemed like forever. Worry hit her then. What if Aodh had already marked the rouges, the Talorians she knew, as the enemy? "The time for picking sides may have come and gone.." she muttered to herself, a flick of her bluntly cut tail emphasizing her words. though knew that she was being watched, that those around her would likely hear.
"My allegiance at the end of the day, good or bad, is with the Talori. Do with that what you will." said the horse at her side, and a grinning mare was quick to challenge him.
"Scared of a lil change in pace are we?" Viona couldn't help but stare at the hippocampus with a sense of distrust. Change of pace was a horrendous understatement..
A certain pair of eyes had found their way back to her after their bearer had spoken his piece. The mottled stallion's side of things were certainly justified, although the dark horse with the wind-swept mane and scars up front seemed to have the best of business in mind. Viona knew she had no voice here, but she had information. Finally, as if making up her mind the mare spoke. "The Serorans broke an alliance with Aodh, they've been vying to divvy retribution for some time.. No doubt that the War-Forged are with them. Although, the- well the Talori were not on bad terms with Aodh to begin with-" Viona sighed, her gaze rising beyond the crowd, the rooftops, and jungle canopy beyond that. She looked to the darkened sky, uncertainty in those blue irises. She was not ready for war. And yet...
"Hireath is divided. Seeing as your people are the face of Talori- it'd be foolish to play a part other than that." that bit was hypocritical, but she spoke to her neighbor directly and with conviction. "What is your name? If you don't mind my asking..? " Vi laid her ears back, politely tucking her chin.

~ Rhodesna ~Captain of the Stromchaser {☠} Champion of the Rogue Code _______________________________________________________
Rhodesna backed off immediately after receiving her scolding from the Keeper. She hid her embarrassment and uneasiness through a toothy grin as she descended partly down the porch's stairs. From her spot, she listened to standpoints that existed among the crowd, as Atlas suggested.
As expected, there was mixed feedback. The Rogues had always been a diverse group of creative and passionate thinkers. It's what gave the Isles so much life, but it's also what had been driving a wedge through the Alliance in more recent times. Anyways, Rhodesna's main interest was finding out where the other Captains stood. She was disappointed by what she learned.
Both Captain Kraken of the Sacrifice and Captain Ceto of the Huntress, two big names in the Hireath seas, were content with trashing all their progress with the mainland for the unlikely chance that the Northern Nations would take them in. Rhodesna scoffed and leaned her shoulder against the stair railing. She had predicted their votes going elsewhere but she shouldn't have been that surprised. Those two were thinking with their pockets and where pretty desperate from what she heard. What really caught her off guard was Samael's reply. Out of all the Captains, she had him tagged for a dragon lover, given his crew's unsavory business, but the man was a fish after all.
"Aw, Capt'n Sam," Rhodesna cooed, "Seems we agree on something at last." She laughed at that before straightening herself out once more to project her own opinion. "Aye, the Rogues are a free people, but we do have ties. The Isles are our home as much as the sea, and our neighbors are Serora and Talori. If We turn our back on the Wind and Water Nations we are inviting the wrath of the Goddesses who matter most in our realm. We should fight with them! It is the best way to ensure our survival!"
With that Rhodesna stepped down from the stairs and disappeared into the crowd so she could stand with her crew while Atlas made his statement. On her way she ran into Ceto and the Kraken. She smiled up at the taller equine. "Don't worry, I'm sure if you ask the Sisters for forgiveness, they won't send another beastie after ye."
----------------------------------
Back on the Keeper's porch, Atlas was listening intently to the arguments being made, though from the look on his face, bystanders would likely assume he was rather bored by the entire affair.
Captains scattered throughout the crowd raised their voices, unafraid to share their opinions. Other lesser known equines shared their opinions as well, and though quieter, the aging stallion had no doubt in his mind that they would eventually reach him as well. He had eyes and ears everywhere.
As the shouting began to die down, the Keeper raised his own raspy voice once more. “I have heard what ye have to say, and I will be taking it all under advisement. You’ve given me much to consider. Now, if you all can find something better to do than bother an old rogue, I suggest you get to it.” He snorted once before disappearing into his home once more, the door slamming shut behind him.
A decision would be made in time. Until then, the Rogues would have to live in uncertainty. But to be fair, when have they ever not?

Kraken | Rogue Captain
Kraken had said his piece. His opinion was known, and there was nothing left to say in rebuttal to Samael. Or anyone else, for that matter, he thought as Rhodesna spoke up. The only opinion he cared about now was Atlas's. After all, his was the only one that truly mattered. That was why there were here. To sway his mind. But the old stallion had a feeling that the Keeper's mind was swayed about as easily as a jetty in the crashing waves. He suspected Atlas had known all along where he stood, where they all stood, and listened to them only out of compliance.
And his answer did nothing to change Kraken's mind on the thought.
The captain should have realized they would not get an answer straight away. Of course Atlas wasn't just going to straighten up and say, "Alright, you bastards, set sail for Aodh." He was the Keeper of the Code. There were rules to follow, whether they cut ties or not, and he had to make sure things were in place for that to happen. But still it did not irk Kraken any less. He spun on his hoof just as the door slammed shut. Ignoring Rhodesna's snide remark he began to push his way back through the crowd. This was no time to get caught up in petty arguments with the other captains.
He headed back to his docked ship, making mental notes as he strode away as to what preparations he needed in place for whatever decision lay ahead of them.

The mare's gaze turned down in a fiery glare as the smaller captain passed by with a smile and taunting words. A smirk played across the taller mare's lips, but she did not give Rhodesna the satisfaction of an answer. She knew how to play that game too; she wasnt going to let the smaller captain trick her into a fight.
Her ears flicked forward at the sound of Atlas's voice carrying heavily over the crowd, followed by Kraken's leave. Captain Ceto let out a heavy sigh through flared nostrils. She had not expected so many rogues to side with the Talorians, but.. so many of them actually had good ties with them. Ceto and her crew? Not so much. They were just another annoyance on her waters.
"Miles!" She suddenly shouted, picking up her head and looking across the crowd. She found him near the back, keeping her daughter occupied. "Tegan." She added, more quietly as he was already by her side. "Back to the ship now." She sighed again softly as she turned on her heels, making her way back toward Miles and Joti. "We have a lot to do." She was uncertain what they really needed to prepare for, but..
She would be damned if her crew was caught off guard.

// Zhen \\ ~ ~ ~
A soft smile graced Zhen's lips as he quieted, deciding now was a good time to fade into the background once more. But the agreement from Kraken, echoed by some of the crowd, made him beam internally. Some of these equines saw reason. Saw that change to the Isles may save them yet. Zhen turned, drifting to the fringes of the crowd. His time to be on the stage was over. Best to step down before the cheers turned to boos. Still, he listened, internally scoffing at the wild hollering. While he couldn't quite see well now, for other equines around him were a bit taller, he could tell it was one of the captains.
He heard Rhodesna speak once more, scoffing under his breath. What difference would it make if they invoked the wrath of the Goddesses now, or in a few months? Praising them had done nothing for his father, to save him from the Scagwyr. All that had been given to his family by them was his blessing, while useful, paled in comparison to other... More useful blessings. Zhen did not voice his opinion of the Goddesses from the Hireath pantheon. It would draw nothing but trouble to him. And he did not want to find trouble, nor attention.
The wise voice of the Keeper drew his attention, and although he could not see, Zhen listened intently. His mouth pressed into a firm line at the reply. That was the attitude of the Rogues, he could say that. He was hopeful that the Keeper may see reason, perhaps lead the Rogues in finally breaking the chains that bound them. Time would be the only thing to tell. Time, change, those were the only constants. Zhen had accepted this devoutly, and closing his eyes, gave a short, swift mental prayer to Digend, quietly asking for his guidance in helping the Rogues see reason.
Then, opening his eyes, Zhen turned, his hooves carrying him back to his home, mind drifting to the stacks of papers in his study. He had a journal to write. Minds to inspire. He had to help bring about the change he wanted to see. The change Digend wanted to see. ~ ~ ~

Tegan
The old, tattooed stallion, The Keeper, as he was apparently called, granted the crowd with no real decision, and no satisfaction. "Was this-- Was this a waste of time?" Tegan chirped, peering through strands of light-colored mane. The boy was expecting some sort of answer to end the story and set his imagination at peace, but he felt none. It... made him laugh. Was he slipping back into the concerns of Talori, even all the way out here? Ha! He'd have to pay closer attention next time. Instead, now the only thing he really had to pay attention to, and really wanted to pay attention to, was "his" ship and "his" crew. Though he couldn't help a small shiver when Captain Rhodesna, unfamiliar to him, though Captain Ceto seemed to know her a fair bit, used a cunning smile to degrade their faith. Was aligning with Ceto, and in turn, her decision, really disregarding Cascade? Would he need to be forgiven? The boy merely settled on swallowing his stances yet again; he'd keep his thoughts quiet for the time being.
When he heard his name, his ears perked immediately, pulling him back from his thoughts, "Yeah, alright!" He chirped back up to Ceto before spinning after her.

SamaelRogue Captain - The Bloody Siren “Any damn fool can navigate the world sober. It takes a really good sailor to do it drunk.”
"The Serorans broke an alliance with Aodh, they've been vying to divvy retribution for some time.. No doubt that the War-Forged are with them. Although, the- well the Talori were not on bad terms with Aodh to begin with-" Samael chuckled softly, wondering if the mare was Aodhian born. It would certainly explain her ignorance of the Isles, but he wasn't one to judge, at least when it didn't effect him. "Even I will never understand the nuances between the Aodh and Talori, though I do know things got pretty shaky once that child took the throne." He shook his head, remembering the issues he'd had trading for a few months following the king's young sister's arrival to the mainland. "It is what it is for now though, best accept it and press on."
The captain's thoughts drifted back to the matter at hoof as the others continued to speak out. He was so invested, he almost missed when the little mare piped up again with her own opinion on the matter, one that seemed to mirror his own. He nodded quietly to himself. Once this was over, he would definitely be attempting to talk business with her. His crew was lacking some horsepower, and she would be a most welcome addition. Rhodes voice rang out loud and clear once more, joking as she whole heartedly agreed with Samael....at least about the fate of the rogues. First time for everything he supposed, shooting the other captain a shit eating grin. Not long after, the Keeper seemed to grow tired of the commotion and quickly dismissed the crowd. Any other day, Sam might have been annoyed, but today? He was just happy to be back on the Isles. As the rest of those gathered began to wander off, he heard the mare's voice once more. "What is your name? If you don't mind my asking..?"
"I am Captain Samael of the Bloody Siren," He said with a grin, "And if you aren't too busy, I have a business proposal for you."

It was fair to say that Calypso was nearly fed up to her ears with this bull crap. She sat herself up, attempting to hide the previous fear that she held and listened. Ceto, as expected, decided to side with the aodhians. Another captain, one that she'd seen a while back decided to side with the talorians, as well as a small pegasus that tailed the red captain. It was almost as if Ceto was more of a babysitter than an actual captain.
There was another horse that decided to side with the tentacle twins and herself. Fucking poet boy over there gets it, She thought, agreeing with the black stallion. Another decided to side with Talori, a mare that stood next to Samael. She spoke with allusions to a broken alliance between Aodh and Serora. All the more reason to break away in her opinion.
And then finally it was this bitch again, who sided with the Talori. Ultimately, neither side it seemed were dominating, and they were still neck and neck with each other. The Keeper spoke up once again: “I have heard what ye have to say, and I will be taking it all under advisement. - " Then, after a few more words he went back inside.
"Bull fucking shit." Calypso called out from the crowd. They weren't just going to take silence for an answer were they? This was the tipping point that could've led to the continuation of their way of life or the destruction of it. One by one equines began to walk off, unsatisfied. "You know what? Fuck this!" Calypso called out in frustration, before storming off. Her mind was clouded with thoughts of unrest, and tension was in the air. All they could do now was wait.

Miles Pirate
It seemed the bubbles worked as Joti was preoccupied enough to let Miles listen to the words of the Keeper. Even after the scales were tipped ever so slightly to abandoning the Talori to their fate, the decision was in the air. The Keeper wasn’t even going to decide now, but at least he would be putting thought into it. Miles let out a small sigh, his nostrils flaring for a moment.
He was glad to not be in the position to decide the fate of the rogues. Though, he felt Ceto’s opinion on the matter was a good call. It would be better to side with those who had the horsepower to win the war. There was also the potential of a secure future if they all could make it through the chaos that a war would cause. They probably wouldn’t have to work hard after with all the rewards they could reap. It made sense. If the Talori were gonna get plowed down by such powerful herds, it was best to step aside and save their own skins.
‘Miles!’
Speaking of his captain, Ceto approached him and Joti, with Tegan on her heels. ‘Back to the ship, now. We have a lot to do.’
Miles gave Ceto a small nod before touching his muzzle to the top of Joti’s head. “Come along now, let’s go home. You did well.” he told her, letting her join her mother. The blue roan then looked to Tegan, shaking his head.
“You have a lot to learn if you want to survive on this ship. Feel free to come to me when we aren’t busy with ship duties. I’ll turn you into a pirate fit to sail on The Huntress.”
If Tegan looked hard enough, he’d be able to see a small smirk form on Miles’ muzzle for a second before he turned to follow Ceto. His captain was right, they did have a lot to do. Post: 5 | Words: 325
