.V I O N A .Freed Slave | Entertainer
It'd been a relatively quiet afternoon, and yet.. Something was afoot. Perhaps the palpable electricity was the work of the overcast sky or higher powers, but whatever the case it was getting everyone on edge including Viona. The ombre mare had been in the middle of a routine, someone tapping lightly on a tambourine in the background. The ringing came to a stop however, as a different sound came round the bend and from the woodwork. The roan mare paused as equines began to gather down the road, her accompaniment took his leave with a muttered goodbye and a dip of his head- he obviously knew better than to meddle in the affairs of an angry mob.
Vi on the other hand.. Did not. For too long she'd been kept wondering, kept waiting and quiet on the fringes of this new society. She'd be more foolish to keep herself in the dark rather than seeking some answers. The Island- namely the docks- had been abuzz with news of the world beyond. A topic most interesting though, was the whispers and mutterings of a pegasus uprising on the mainland. That was all she knew, and it was useless information.
Clutching her chiffon drape, she gingerly made her way closer, ears laid back as the voices rose louder, calling out the Keeper. A legend, a story. Someone she'd yet to see in person. People like her were usually smarter than to meddle with rouges. But not Viona..
"Pardon me," she brushed past the haunches of one horse in an attempt to get closer and came to stand next to another- a dappled stallion in dense dreadlocks. "What's.. All this about? Is it about the Mainland?" She asked, no one in particular, probably the tall stallion next to her but she'd listen for a response from one source or another. Her ears swiveled in anticipation, heart fluttering from the outraged energy.

Two sets of hooves tapped against the hard, uneven ground. One was strong, powerful, walking with a purpose. The other was fast, irregular, and zig zagging. Captain Ceto led ahead, sharp red eyes focused forward with a glare, ears pressed back, and.. well, if looks could kill..
On her shoulder perched her familiar, a ring-tailed lemur by the name of Bijou. He continued to chatter in her ear, hanging onto the collar of her cloak. Ceto found the little animal annoying at times, no, most of the time, but he was a great partner in crime. Not every pirate had a pet with hands that could pick pocket for them.
Behind her stumbled along a smaller figure. Her roan coat was dark in the overcast, transparent tentacles gripped to her mother's cloak as she struggled to keep up. Only having been born a few days ago, and on a ship of all places, her long legs were struggling with their first time on land.
The sound of angry shouts and pounding hooves drifted through the air, causing Ceto to prick her ears forward and glance in the direction of the forming mob. She had heard of it too; the war, the alliances. While she wanted to ignore it and pretend to live in her own little world, she knew better. Her trader - her money - was in danger.
She felt a bump against her leg as Joti stumbled into her. A sigh left her lips as she reached over and bumped the filly softly with her nose. "Do keep up." She spoke quietly, but couldnt help but let a small smile find her lips. What mother wouldnt be proud of their daughter, who could walk perfectly on a ship, but struggle on land? She was destined for the pirate life.
Brushing past a few on the outskirts of the mob, Ceto placed herself and Joti as close to the front as they could get, with the foal nestled safely between her front legs to keep her from getting trampled. Ceto wanted answers just as much as anyone else, and she wasnt going to stand in the back and hope to catch the conversation. She had never seen the Keeper of the Code before, and was actually not too convinced that he existed.. May Cascade bless his soul if he did.

// Zhen \\ "Chaos is more freedom; in fact, total freedom." ~ ~ ~
Hearing shouts and roars from within his home town wasn't out of place. There were bar brawls, shady dealings, many other types of circumstances that could cause such an uproar. But this was a different kind of uproar. One of anger, rage, confusion. Something uncommon for the Isles, especially in such a large, concentrated gathering.
It drew Zhen out of his and his mother's home, shushing her and promising he would look and figure out what the commotion was about. Calmly striding towards the center of town, towards the crowd, which clustered around the Keeper of the Code's door, Zhen's interest was piqued. What was it that his people were demanding? Was this about the war? Raising a brow, Zhen moved closer, slipping around the edges of the crowd. He needed a good vantage point. Or someplace he could properly watch. He wasn't terribly fond of his short stature, it caused quite a few problems for him.
Sliding his way through the crowd, using his sharpened, pointed horn as a way to part the crowd, he moved to the front of the crowd, ears forward, eyes bright with questions. Why were his people so furious? Could they finally want to separate from the mainland? He had to admit, there was a tinge of excitement at the lingering promise about the Keeper of the Code showing himself. A relic from his childhood, his study of the Isles' lore and heritage, Zhen held a bit of a childish, bubbling excitement within, despite already beginning to formulate how his writings, how Indigo Rooke, could use this cacophony for his work.
Eying the other equines, Zhen recognized a few captains about, finding that interesting. How many were here? How many would rage against this incoming war? How many could he perhaps turn against the mainland in the coming weeks? ~ ~ ~

You have got to be fucking kidding me.
Calypso stared around at the horde of angry equines. It had been several months since she'd found herself back on the isles again, and already things had gone to shit. First the kirins and the giant bloody tentacle monster ordeal, and now some bullshit on the mainland. AGAIN. Of course it wasn't just any bullshit now. Thanks to the sand lovers, they were now technically at war with Aodh and the War-Forged. Of course it wouldn't have been THAT bad except for the fact that aodh was a powerhouse of a nation, and, along with the war-forged, helped keep the money flowing on the isles. Of course, with her and many others enjoying some of their 'exports', she could see the problem with going to war with the herds with all the good shit. Not to mention they probably also had the combined potential to annihilate foreign threats with the flick of a tail. Either way, since the flock arrived, they were gonna get fucked over by the mainland sooner or later.
She found it difficult to slip past the angry crowd, although she had been able to spot a few familiar faces inside from where she was situated. Ceto was close by, followed by a small filly that looked oddly like her. Her spawn, no doubt by the looks of how it trailed behind her. Some other notable faces lay in the crowd as well, especially the captains. Of course, all these equines close to each other would make prime targets for Calypso, who knew what they were carrying. As she eyed who choose, she thought about what would happen next...

Tegan: Talorian Tenderfoot (and pirate wanna-be)
In reality, Tegan had hoped they'd be back at sea by now, while the rocking wooden planks sure took some time to get used to, the boy would be lying if he said being aboard the ship wasn't his new-found love. He was thankful when Ceto had finally waned on the idea of throwing him over board and begun to cut him some slack among the crew, though they still undeniably peered at the young boy with judgement and for sure a sense of annoyance, Tegan was more than content to build up his reputation slowly. It was a new atmosphere, a new place, a new start, something that was probably too severe for his young mind to truly grasp hold of; yet perhaps that's why he had made it this far. Tegan had placed himself in more danger by shuffling himself to the Isles than perhaps he was exposed to hidden in the wilds, yet he was happier out of hiding. Maybe ignorance really was bliss.
Still, he was ready to get moving again, he wouldn't mind swabbing decks if that meant he didn't have to bounce around on dry land. Ironically, he liked the isolation of the sea. It kept his mind clear. Yet he was still sure to keep himself entertained throughout the little villages, Tegan made an effort not to stick to closely to any crew member in particular, especially Captain Ceto, he was older now than when he first met her so many years ago, yet still felt the need to prove he was independent, that even though he was just thirteen, he wasn't a mere child. Though between weaving in and out of pubs and artisan shops, the brightly colored pegasus would make his way back to the docks ever so often, preventing any chance of the crew sailing off without him, for he knew it wouldn't break anyone's heart.
Though this place didn't grasp any true interest for him until he wandered into a crowded street. Horses shouting arrogantly and angrily. The noise was something that made him shiver as memories of his home among Inaria came rushing back. Bombs, and threatening wings, and riots. Similar to the one that was forming in front of him. The pegasi's green eyed gaze shifted over the angry patrons. A part of him wanted to spin and run the other way, back to the ship to wait for his Captain and the rest of the crew, if only it wasn't for his damn developing curiosity.
Slowly inching forward to the front of the crowd, Tegan was surprised to catch sight of the speckled hippocampus mare whom he had spoken to just early that morning. Captain Ceto had her ears forward with a heavy, furrowed gaze, yet Tegan figured all the commotion must be of some importance if she had managed to take some interest in it. Joti stood huddled at her mother's feet, mostly transparent, yet noticeably striped tentacles weaving in and out from between the pair's ankles. Tegan couldn't help the small grin that was pulling at one corner of his mouth as he crept through the jumbled crowd to meet them.
"W-what's going on?" Tegan spoke just loud enough for Ceto to hear, he'd be surprised if he wasn't met with a pin of the ears, but he was used to it now, and wouldn't mind much.

Miles Pirate
It had been a less than joyful reunion when Captain Ceto had returned from her mission to sell the stray kirins. Her ship, his home, had been destroyed by a sea monster and the kirins were lost to whatever freedom they gained that fateful day. Miles cursed the fact he hadn't accompanied his captain on the voyage, as his gift could have come in handy to help the previous Huntress escape the monster's wrath, but there was little time to mourn the vessal. His captain was smart, quick, and soon the crew was sailing the seas again.
The Huntress had returned to the Isles, albet a little different, though a vast improvement over the last one, and was docked in one of the many ports. The Captain had left the ship some time ago, taking the newest addition to their crew, Joti, with them. The foal was a delight among the crew and Miles couldn't help but feel overly protective of her as well.
Miles finished up washing the deck of the ship, a chore he could do with more ease than some of the other crew members, as his blessing came in handy, and looked towards the streets. His ears lay back as he watched a plethora of equines start to head off in one direction. Looking down at the deck, he swept his head to the right quickly. The water on the deck glowed with the blue glow of his teke and jumped overboard, the wood dry and clean. Now he could go investigate what was causing such a ruckess.
The blue roan left the ship and trotted along the pier, before joining a small group as they journeyed further into the port town. In just a few moments they came upon a larger crowd, an angry mob that was starting to form. Arching his neck, Miles tried to look over the heads of those in front of him and spotted his Captain up near the front. Next to her was the stowaway, the pegasus Tegan. His heart skipped a beat as he wondered where Joti was, and quickly pushed himself to the front.
"C-Captain...oh..." he started, as he came up on Ceto's side, opposite of Tegan and saw the filly between her legs. He let out a soft breath of relief, and shook his head. Of course she was fine. Miles looked to Tegan, then Ceto, and to the door in front of them. It seems he had showed up just in time. Post: 1 | Words: 419

~ Rhodesna ~Captain of the Stromchaser {☠} Champion of the Rogue Code _______________________________________________________
The tiger shark hippocampus marched with righteous fury at the front of the mob with a large part of her crew following with equal purpose from behind.
The Stormchaser had returned home early from her voyage to nearby waters. Captian Rhodesna had set out to hunt treasure lost to last November's storm but had turned back upon sighting foreign sails on the horizon. A fleet of Seroran ships had made their way into Talori territory and were sailing in the direction of the mainland with suspicious accuracy and numbers. No nation should have the knowledge of the Aquorian peninsula, that was a secret kept heavily guarded by the mainlanders... unless... It was true. Upon closer examination of one of the larger ships, Rhodesna spotted the vibrant coat and impressive fin display of Emperor Hawkeye within the window of her spyglass. The Talori had made negotiations with Sedo. They were no longer a neutral nation. The Rogues had to act NOW.
And so that was what she had been calling for as she paraded from Morgan's Port, through the town, and finally, right at the Keeper's doorstep. She climbed upon the wooden deck to address the crowd that had gathered. Her body pulsed with adrenaline and her eyes burned with fierceness of a hurricane.
"ROGUES!!" She shouted, her voice full of passion.
"The Talori have made deals with the Sand People! As we speak Seroran ships sail to the mainland, no doubt to lend aid against the Pegasi Revolt." She searched the eyes of the crowd for any hint at comprehension.
"The Talori have made themselves known, they are no longer neutral, and we stand in a position where we must act or be torn apart by the wars that we will surely be drawn into. The Rogues must take action! We must choose! And we must unite!"
Rhodesna's hooves stomped on the wood beneath them, emphasizing her words. "For too long we have been testing the waters. We must swim now or get swallowed by the tide!"
She turned to the heavy wooden door behind her. "DO YOU HEAR US KEEPER?!"
----
On the other side of the door, something stirred.

Kraken | Rogue Captain
It had only taken a few eavesdropped whispers for Kraken to abandon his drink and slam out of the pub that he had been occupying in a bout of apathy. Ever since the incident with the Scagwyr his pride had been wounded. His ship and crew had been destroyed, and while that was by far not a new experience for him, he was having a harder time bouncing back from it than normal. He felt old. Washed up. Active piracy was a young horses game, and even if a pirate lived into his older years, rarely did they do so on the open sea. While crews loved a captain with experience there was a line that crossed into weathered. And it certainly didn't help that there had been eye witnesses to his treachery of his last ship, and word had gotten out. While he did now have a ship and a crew, it wasn't what it was. But hell if it wouldn't be anything if these rumors were true!
He stomped down the cobbled street, a new found fire burning in his chest at the thought that the way of life he so loved might be in danger. Plenty of other rogues around the Isles apparently felt the same way, and it was not hard to know where everyone was streaming towards. The Keeper's door.
The black stallion pushed his way straight through the crowd. Those that didn't get out of the way got a harsh bite. He was certainly in no mood to be stopped. He passed a familiar figure; though she wore a cloak he had traveled with her long enough to know who it was. "Don't try anything in this crowd unless you want to get your ear bitten off," he growled in passing to Calypso. Quickly forgetting the young thief, he continued his way tot he front, breaking through just as Rhodesna began her tirade.
The idea of a war in which Talori took a side bothered him as much as any of the other rogues. War effected everyone - no less the pockets of the rogues. It was largely his stash of money that had gained him any crew back, and he could not afford to lose that income now. But he would be screwed either way. If they side with Talori, he would lose all of his income selling to Aodh. If they sided with Aodh, he would lose a large population of his slave trade from the emperor - a deficit that he was already experiencing thanks to the Flock uprising. There was no good way out of this, and so his instinct was to work for the highest bidder. Who had the most to offer him? Perhaps it would even behoove him to sit back and simply relax until the winner was clear, and then pick sides.
"I do not know what you think Atlas can do about this, as it was Emperor Hawkeye's dumb ass decision, but by all means. Let's hear what the Keeper has to say." He stood fuming, his own mind turning over the options that worked best in his favor.

Ceto felt her cape slipping from her back and glanced down to find Joti trying to pull it over herself to hide. She was understandably overwhelmed, the crowd loud in her sensitive ears. Ceto's ears flicked back as another smaller form appeared beside her, her attention shifting as she noticed Tegan had somehow picked her out in the middle of the crowd. Her eyes narrowed in an annoyed glare toward the door, a sigh leaving her lips as he asked what was going on. She didnt remember signing up for two children to deal with, but a few of her crew members had not allowed her to chuck the feathered nuisance over the edge of the ship. "He'll be useful," they'd said, but Ceto failed to see how.
"I thought i left ye on the ship." She growled back, not bothering to answer the pegasus's question. Joti peeked out from Ceto's leg to stare up at the young pegasus with large, curious eyes before pulling herself back and snuggling back into her mother's cloak. She had been taught to be suspicious of pegasi, but she didnt understand why. She wasnt about to test her luck, though.
Her attention shifted as Miles appeared beside her, giving him a nod. She was glad to have him back by her side. As much as she had wished he had been there during the wreck, she was happy he had stayed behind and uninjured. She had lost a lot of crew that day, including her trusted ship. It would have been even more of a hit if Miles went down with them.
"ROUGES!!" A sharp voice called over the crowd, pulling Ceto's attention back to the front. Her brow narrowed as a smaller mare stood before them, shouting and stomping her hooves in a rather passionate manner. Her brow raised with a roll of her eyes, her attention shifting back toward the crowd. She noticed several equine getting pushed out of the way, some stumbling, some getting out of the way before they were bit.
It was then that her gaze landed on the all too familiar dark form of Kraken. Her gaze narrowed in a sharp glare toward the stallion as he took his place closer to the front, but that was all she was able to muster for the moment. He had taken a hard hit from the beast as well, and Ceto wasnt going to put her daughter's life in danger by getting in a scuffle with the grumpy older stallion. They had larger problems to deal with at the moment anyways.
Taking in a breath, she focused her attention back at the door at the sound of rustling behind it. Kraken did have a point; what was the Keeper supposed to do if he didnt even have a say in this?
Having been distracted by the rallying of the rather pink mare at the front of the crowd, Ceto didnt notice Joti slip out from her place beneath her belly. The little filly cautiously made her way through the crowd, her eyes large as she looked to each equine with curiosity and a little bit of fear. She was brave, though, and was determined to scout out the rest of the crowd. Her mom didnt seem scared of the others, so why should she?
It was then that her curiosity rested on a rather dark stallion, a shimmering blue horn piercing from his forehead. A wide smile spread across the filly's lips as she made her way toward him, her focus suddenly on the scarf wrapped around his neck. As she got close enough, one of her transparent tentacles reached out to touch the pretty blue fabric.

SamaelRogue Captain - The Bloody Siren “Any damn fool can navigate the world sober. It takes a really good sailor to do it drunk.”
"ROGUES!! The Talori have made deals with the Sand People! As we speak Seroran ships sail to the mainland, no doubt to lend aid against the Pegasi Revolt. The Talori have made themselves known, they are no longer neutral, and we stand in a position where we must act or be torn apart by the wars that we will surely be drawn into. The Rogues must take action! We must choose! And we must ..." The spotted captain rolled his eyes as Rhodesna spoke, tuning out the chimera mare. Of all the things he had expected coming in to town today, a revaluation was not on his to do list. Even still, he couldn't help but be a bit intrigued, keeping his eyes open and ears sharp as he scanned the crowd. Whether or not he agreed with Rhodes wasn't anything of consequence... the crowd she somehow managed to draw on the other hoof... now that was something. Captains from all walks of life had shown up, him included in some ridiculous twist of fate. Quite a few crew members from their respective ships, as well as a few natives to the Island. There were many things Sam could say about Rhodes, but at the end of the day, the mare was passionate and new how to light a fire under the hooves of those around her. "What's.. All this about? Is it about the Mainland?" Samael's gaze shifted to the small mare that had come up to stand along side him as his thoughts were abruptly interrupted. The way she worded he question made the captain wonder if she wasn't from around these parts, but he couldn't be sure. He had been out of the loop himself for sometime now as well. Raising an eyebrow, he let out a heavy sigh before replying. "So it would seem. Apparently there's some sort of war on and it's got little ol' Rhodesy there all up in arms." He chuckled heartily." Honestly I don't know much about it myself. Only heard a few rumors here and there and just got back to the Isles yesterday after about six months at sea."

// Zhen \\ "Chaos is more freedom; in fact, total freedom." ~ ~ ~
...Zhen's gaze slowly moved about the crowd, his ears twitching back for a moment at the shouting from who he recognized as the captain of The Stormchaser, Rhodesna. Well, as long as the Rogues themselves were not dragged into this, he didn't care what Talori did with the Sand Folk. The Rogues were who he stood with, they were who he would protect, even if blood was shed. Digend would guide them through this ripple of change, he felt sure of it.
Even though he was mulling over his own thoughts, he felt a small surge of pride at the call from Rhodesna. Now, she had some sense about this. They did need to take action. They needed to spark change. Change that tore them apart from Talori and their own personal mainland drama. His gaze lifted, calm, inquisitive, locked onto the captain shouting to the door behind her. Would the Keeper really come? Would he listen, was a better question. No. They had to make him listen. No matter what. They could not let the Rogues be torn apart and pushed into a war that they had little to do with.
The unicorn's attention was grabbed for a moment by a touch on his scarf. Looking down, he stared at a small foal touching the fabric around his neck. Who's child was this? He didn't dislike children, per-say, he was actually somewhat fond of them, but this was important business. He needed to keep a close watch on what happened, for his journals, for his own memory. "Where did you come from, little one?" He mumbled quietly to her, his gaze lifting for a moment to look around the crowd. He did not want to end up babysitting a child during all this. His work for Digend and the Rogues came before everything. He didn't want something getting in the way. ~ ~ ~

Tegan: Talorian Tenderfoot
"Tshh." Tegan merely scoffed at Ceto's reply, colorful wings hugged close to his sides in attempt to keep them from being bumped in the growing crowd. Though there was much to see in this sea of rogues, the boy's attention was soon grabbed by the pink-colored mare who had worked her way to the front; a hippocampus laced in scars and a mess of curly mane. She spoke with such passion and purpose that it was helpless not to rile Tegan up at least a bit, his ears were perked forward and he could feel his feathers begin to lift in a rush of excitement. Yet one glance toward Ceto and he bit his tongue, her eyes rolling at the unfamiliar mare's speech in an almost immediate sense of dismissal. Recollecting his attention, his green eyes mimicked the captain as she scanned the crowd, until they settled back on his two front hooves. Though his gaze didn't last long as his ears flicked backward toward Joti, the Captian's daughter. "Err-- Ceto--" Tegan started, as his position turned to watch the young filly scamper off.

Calypso's ears pinned back with annoyance as she watched horses move out of the way for a familiar stallion: Kraken. Of course, of all the equines there it had to be him. And what was worse was that he was heading straight towards her. "Don't try anything in this crowd unless you want to get your ear bitten off." She stared at him, grumbling while he began to move past the crowd. Piss off bitch, I can do whatever the fuck I want. She gave him an evil glare, hopefully one that he wouldn't spot her making. Then she went back to surveying possible targets, she needed to go further down.
However, it wasn't long before someone, a captain by the looks of it, began to step up and speak her mind. A mare, about the same size of Calypso charged up to the Keeper's door and began to passionately speak out at the top of her lungs. Her head jerked back with distaste. Who the actual fuck did she think she was. She was more likely to make the poor horse deaf than actually solving the problem with the Mainland. "OI!" She yelled out from the crowd. "WHO THE FUCK DIED AND MADE YOU EMPEROR?!" The young, potentially crazed mare brought herself into a state of frustration. They already knew that the mainland had allied with the Serorans. They already knew that Aodh could potentially come for them next. The captain didn't need to be up there telling them what to do as if they were her crew. However, as time grew so did the impatience of the crowd do so as well, but one thing was for certain though.
Calypso was totally gonna get bashed for this.

Miles Pirate
Just as soon as he was acknowledged by his captain, Miles’ attention quickly turned to the front of the crowd. A loud, vibrant mare shouted above them, watching them all as if she were looking for a certain reaction. She announced the pact the Talori herd had apparently made with the Serorans, meaning the rumors that had been circling the past few days were true. Miles hadn’t really thought about the mainland in a long while. The only reason for him to ever set foot on the mainland was to seek his personal revenge. But, seeing as the crew of The Huntress was currently not held in any positive light with the Talorian government, he had to set that aside. He had almost forgotten about it, but now was not the time to dwell.
The crowd parted again, more like pushed aside, as Kraken made his appearance known. Miles pinned his ears back as he stared at his previous captain, listening to the older stallion’s words. He agreed that the Keeper probably wouldn’t be much help and most of the captains would probably choose sides regardless of Atlas’ decision. Whoever paid the most, right?
There was more rustling as others started to talk amongst themselves from a pintaloosa, who had been away at sea for awhile, to the familiar looking Calypso, who seemed to be agitated. He shook his head as Calypso shouted at Rhodesna when he heard Tegan. “Err--Ceto--...”
Miles blinked and looked from the stowaway to his captain. His ears shot forward as he realized Joti wasn’t under her mother anymore. He twisted his head around until he saw the filly making her way through the crowd. She was hard to spot, but it was the top of her head that gave her away. The jellyfish-like translucent bulb on her head bounced with each step as she walked, and once Miles spotted her, he couldn’t miss it. “I’ll get her. Stay with the captain,” Miles announced, looking at the smaller pegasus.
Excusing himself, Miles walked after Joti, his gaze unwavering until the filly stopped. He watched as she reached up with a tentacle to touch the fabric of a unicorn’s scarf. Miles stopped breathing as he watch the unicorn take notice of the little one. If he dared to hurt even a hair on her…
Miles let out the breath he had been holding when the unicorn looked as if he was talking to her gently and walked up to the pair. “What are you up to, Joti?” Miles asked before looking from Joti to Zhen. “Excuse me, I hope she’s not bothering you.” Post: 2 | Words: 436

SamaelRogue Captain - The Bloody Siren “Any damn fool can navigate the world sober. It takes a really good sailor to do it drunk.”
Samael continued to watch the spectacle as the crowd grew, wondering to himself if the Keeper would actually grant them an audience. Either way it didn't really matter to him, though at this point, his curiosity was definitely getting the best of him. As Rhodes continued her screeching and pacing in front of the Keeper's home, another familiar voice piped up from the crowd. "OI! WHO THE FUCK DIED AND MADE YOU EMPEROR?!" Calypso's voice rang out over the protest and Samael couldn't help but laugh. Though he didn't know her well, the little mare had always been a little spitfire and seemed to have a way with painting a big ol' target on her back. While Sam would usually stay out of affairs that didn't concern him, he couldn't help but want to get involved. "Yeah!" He shouted, his rough voice carrying itself over the crowd. "Who died and made you emperor Rhodesy?" He chuckled loudly, glancing back at the smaller unfamiliar horse beside him once more. "At least things are never boring around here, eh?" His voice was playful as he spoke, winking at the mare. "I swear by the gods, the seas may be my home, but I have certainly missed this place."

The surrounding crowd drew more agitated by the second; voices piped up in protest, other in confusion, and many murmurs of unrest began to flow through the crowd. But Kraken never turned his eyes from the door.
The captain wanted to get this over with. Time is money. And having the pedantic young mare up there stirring up the crowd was eating at his nerves. Any other time he would have smiled to hear the other objecting outcries at her presumed leadership, but he was too angrily focused on the rumors that seemed to slowly be turning to fact. Right now emperors and kings were making war plans. Armies were being formed, and loyalty was being bought in the guise of friendly protection. And yet here he stood in the midst of a bunch of dirty pirates waiting on an old bookkeeper to come out and tell them what they could and couldn't do about it.
He had not seen Atlas in quite some time, and couldn't resist a bit of that intrigue that coursed through the younger and less experienced of the rogues that had never laid eyes on the old stallion. But really he was just curious to hear what the Keeper had to say. He was already beginning to finalize some plans of his own to deal with the new conflict, but he had to concede to the Keeper of the Code. It was important to make sure Atlas's ideas of the rogues' place in the coming war aligned with Kraken's own. He flicked his tail in agitation.
"Is he even in there right now?" he shouted up to the deck. Wouldn't that just be the way if Rhodesna was wasting their time with an empty house. "Come on out, old timer! You don't want to disappoint your fans!"

Ceto's brow narrowed as she recognized the hooded figure forcing her way before the crowd, shouting insults for all to hear. Calypso. Ceto was surprised to see that little mare was still kicking, seeing as she seemed to always be putting herself in unfortunate places- stealing from rogues in a crowed bar, screaming at the front of an angry crowd. However, Ceto did have to give her props.. she had guts. Or perhaps she was just stupid. Bravery and stupidity often walked hand in hand.
"Err-- Ceto--"
Her attention shifted as Tegan opened his stupid little mouth again, her ears pressed back and eyes flickering with irritation as she tried her best to ignore him. However, Miles speaking up next had her turning her gaze toward him, her eyes widening as she suddenly realized.. Joti was no longer where she had put her.
"Fuck that kid." The mare growled under her breath, gritting her teeth together as she stormed after Miles. No way was she going to stay back while he fetched her daughter, especially when anything could happen in this crowd! She was sure most of the rogues around had no idea the little thing was slipping between their legs!
Her gaze fell on Joti just as a strange stallion turned to speak to her. Ceto hadnt seen her reach for his scarf, but she could already feel her blood boiling.
Joti's tentacle snapped back as the other spoke to her in a soft tone, his voice seemed kind, but she had never interacted with anyone outside of the crew before. She took a step back, her purple eyes widening as she looked away from the stranger's scarf and actually toward his eyes, finding herself frozen.. not quite in fear, but more uncertainty.
A familiar voice called out to her, asking what she was up to, and she broke out of her frozen state to dart behind Miles, gripping to his leg as she hid, but still poking her head out to watch the stranger.
"Excuse me." The mare pushed herself past Miles and Joti, pausing only to shoot a disappointed scowl at her daughter before shoving herself in Zhen's personal space. Whether or not he chose to step back or not was up to him, but the captain had her hooves planted, keeping an eye on that sharp horn of his. "I dont know what yer playin at, but stay the hell away from my kid."

// Zhen \\ ~ ~ ~
Zhen only watched the small child as she reacted rather violently in his opinion to being addressed. Hm. His gaze remained a mixture between neutral and gentle, making no move towards her when her eyes moved to meet his. A voice called out, and his head lifted. Looking at another equine who approached, that the foal quickly ran behind, he gave a light shrug. "Not a bother at all," he replied, voice tinged with an edge of a Breimian accent, something that still lingered from his father's prescience in his life. His ears flicked at shouting, only casting a quick glance at the crowd once more. Someone was shouting about someone who died and made Rhodesna emperor. Hm. Keep that one in mind for his writing.
"Excuse me."
Sharply looking up at a rather harsh tone, in his opinion, Zhen stared calmly at the larger mare shoving herself into his space. He could easily stab her at this close range. He knew she was aware of this. A soft breathy chuckle left his throat. "What could I be playing at, Ceto?" He asked, "You should be watching your child instead of trying to play the game of politics. You should just return to your ship-Oh. I'm sorry, you don't have one, am I correct? I heard something about the Scagwyr, my condolences." He said in a monotone voice, dipping his head slightly to lower his horn closer to Ceto as he expected some type of aggression from the captain for these comments. Perhaps he was pushing it, but his pride was slightly wounded by her thinking he would do harm to who was obviously her child. He was not that bloodthirsty. Digend didn't call ask for kills unless needed for change. Today, they were not needed.

.V I O N A .Freed Slave | Entertainer
Viona turned her gaze to the end of a chimeric mare's monologue about war- catching only the tail end of it in the question she'd directed to her neighbor. A seprate voice echoed clearer though- a scarred old man towards the front spoke his dark coat grunged by what have been years of sun and salt.
"I do not know what you think Atlas can do about this, as it was Emperor Hawkeye's dumb ass decision, but by all means. Let's hear what the Keeper has to say." said he, directing his venom with a certain ease and practice that made Viona's hide itch. These rouges were definitely a volatile bunch.. but even more troubling was that word..
War. And it was coming for them? No, it must have been an alliance with the mysterious mainlanders. The mare briefly wondered what they could possibly be like. She didn't know enough, having seemingly come from the other side of the world. not to even mention the fact that politics (and other like topics of that social echelon) definitely weren't her strong suit. Her curiosities were sated by the stallion at her side, however. His voice was lilting, gruff. She kind of liked it. Her blue eyes swung up to meet his immediately, perhaps a flicker of concern showing there in the depths of that gaze.
"Oh, I see." she took a breath, the crowd becoming more tumultuous, and all the while the pirate was.. Calm? Or at least entertained. "Welcome back then, I uh- That's quite a time to be out there." a huff- at the absurdity. Six months made her trip from Aodh seem small. "I'm uncertain of the sea- pretty to look at. I can't.. swim actually." her babble was suddenly lost when a cry arose above the rest, calling out the mare dubbed 'Rhodesy'.
"OI!" Oh dear.. "WHO THE FUCK DIED AND MADE YOU EMPEROR?!" This won't be good..
Viona shuffled her hooves nervously and laid her ears back, suddenly questioning the place she stood.Leaving crossed her mind, before all Hell broke loose. She'd seen bar scuffles before- and this was no petty tavern squabble and trash talk. It seemed the rogue she'd spoken to had no qualms in making matters worse. The roan mare nearly jumped from her skin when that familiar voice rang in her ear.
"Yeah!" the spotted stallion shouted out, a gleam in his eye. "Who died and made you emperor Rhodesy?" The chuckle that escaped his lips did little to put the dancer at ease, but she took it with a grain of salt, and was... cautiously appreciative that he seemed to not be taking any of what was going on seriously. Was she being too serious? Was this all some sort of joke?
Blinking once, twice. "That's true, this place- the people can leave you breathless sometimes.. Though, I don't know what there is to miss." she didn't acknowledge the blush that flashed across her face when he winked at her. Vi was too busy thinking about what he'd said to feel dumbstruck. She had't had a chance to miss this place. The only thing she missed these days were the quiet of Dimitri's villa and.. well the chevalier himself. Viona's eyes glazed over momentarily, her gaze drifting from somewhere beyond her dreadlocked company to the group ahead, the cacophony rising- all the same words save for a few. Bring the Keeper.
"He isn't dead is he?" The small mare felt a lump form in her throat at the thought. She'd heard he was old, the keeper. What if he'd met his end?

~ Rhodesna ~Captain of the Stromchaser {☠} Champion of the Rogue Code _______________________________________________________
The attention and energy Rhodesna had gathered from the crowd before her fueled her ego, urging her forward. An impressive show of Captains had decided to show as well, which was much to her liking. Their allegiance was going to be needed if the Rogues were to keep together during the coming war. She sent each of them a look of acknowledgement as they came into view.
A voice shouted from the mob, "OI! WHO THE FUCK DIED AND MADE YOU EMPEROR?!"
Rhodesna only laughed at the heckler. A loud and hearty laugh that could be felt in your chest. "I take an opportunity when I see it, mate!" She turned back to the Keeper's double wooden doors, "AND IF THE KEEPER DON'T START DOING HIS JOB, I'D GLADLY TAKE HIS SPOT AS-"
The sound and movement of the doors slamming open, cut off her sentence before she could finish it. Slouching in the middle of the dark entrance-way was a sullen and weary looking stallion. He held a mug of beer to his lips as he assessed the ocean of equines gathered at his doorstep before setting his drink carefully on a nearby railing. He turned to Rhodesna then, golden eyes piercing through Rhodesna. His tattoos across his back rippled as his skin twitched in agitation.
Atlas had finally made his appearance.
"That's enough talk from you, Captain. Let us give another the chance to be heard." The Keeper's voice was raspy and tempered but clear and loud enough to carry. "The Rogues are no stranger to the business of fighting, there is much profit in it. But if what ye say is true, it just may be time pick sides."
He set his attention to the crowd and raised his voice just a smidge. "What say you Rogues? What herd do ye all wanna place yer bets on in the coming perils?"

SamaelRogue Captain - The Bloody Siren “Any damn fool can navigate the world sober. It takes a really good sailor to do it drunk.”
A broad grin played across the captain's face as the little mare beside him appeared to be a bit flustered. "That's true, this place- the people can leave you breathless sometimes... Though, I don't know what there is to miss." "Oh there's a lot to miss, the booze, the business, the company." He smirked as the last word left his lips. "Seeing the same faces day in and day out can get a bit dull, and as much as i love spending my time and coin on Valorian shores, the Isles are in my blood. This is where my people are, ya know?" He chuckled softly as he looked down at the mare, realizing she'd been distracted by what was going on around them, not that he could blame her. "He isn't dead is he?" The mare's quiet voice drifted to his ears once more. "Nah, if the Keeper was dead, we would know, trust me on that one..." Sam's voice trailed off as the door that had previously been the focus of everyone's attention swung open to reveal the old, grizzled features belonging to the seemingly ancient Keeper of the Code. "That's enough talk from you, Captain. Let us give another the chance to be heard. The Rogues are no stranger to the business of fighting, there is much profit in it. But if what ye say is true, it just may be time pick sides. What say you Rogues? What herd do ye all wanna place yer bets on in the coming perils?"
Samael's ears flicked forward as he settled into a more serious demeanor. If the Keeper was actually musing about the rumors of war, it was likely a more serious issue than he had initially thought. His eyes scanned the crowd, resting momentarily on each of the other captains, wondering what thoughts were going through their heads. If ever there was a time Sam wished his crew was nearby, it was now... but of course, they were no where to be found. Probably off in some tavern or brothel somewhere. He rolled his eyes at the thought. Then again, if he hadn't been distracted by Rhodes's squawking, he'd likely be with them right now... "Well, told ya he wasn't dead..." Sam whispered to the mare as he began mulling over answers to the question Atlas had posed.

Tegan Talorian Tenderfoot Tegan’s head bobbed upwards as he shuffled backward when the Captain pushed past him to collect Joti. The colt merely snorted as he recollected his balance, green eyes following the trail both Miles and Ceto had begun to carve through the crowd. For a moment, he considered going after them but soon came to the conclusion that attempting to pumble through a crowd to be growled at, maybe just wasn’t quite worth it. Besides, everything interesting was going on up front, if that changed, he’d barge his way through.
There were shouts and banter coming from every direction, enough that Tegan’s curved ears continued to flick frantically.
War.
This was something the boy was expecting, hell, he knew it was there. What he didn’t realize was that unfortunately, Talori wouldn’t be focusing merely on the battle going on inside their own lands, but be directing their forces elsewhere? It didn’t make sense, surely the Flight was enough of a handful already.
He was… Disappointed. Disappointed at how even the problems of Talori’s mainland, his home, reached all the way out here when it was just thing he fled from. Too young and naive to realize the backlash of avoiding problems, Tegan would continue to hide from them. However, when asked to decide between his home-- err... Previous home-- and Aodh, which he held no connection to, the answer was obvious.
“Talori, of course!” The young pegasi shouted at the top of his lungs, back toward who he could only assume to be the keeper. “It doesn’t make sense not to, we’re Talorians!” He stressed his vocal chords over the crowd, but for a colt so unknowledgeable to political stances, Tegan spoke passionately and almost proudly.

Miles Pirate
Miles looked down at the foal with gentle eyes, almost amused at how her confidence quickly faded as she was caught. It would be just as much of a joy as a pain it would be to watch her grow. Her tentacles gripped his leg as she retreated behind him, just as Ceto practically parted the sea of horses appearing moments after he addressed the dark unicorn. There was some shouting in the background that briefly grabbed his attention, but Ceto’s sharp and rough tone brought him back to the altercation in front of him.
The blue roan took a step back, staying aware of Joti behind him, and looked from his captain to the unicorn and back again. He pinned his ears back, quickly scanning the crowd for any water sources just in case the two decided to get physical. Luckily for him, some of the equines had brought their rums and ales with them so if he needed to he could defend his captain. He looked at Zhen just as the unicorn mentioned the old Huntress falling to the sea monster and felt his heart start to pound just a tad harder. That was a bad comment to make and Miles wanted to make sure he could step in before Ceto lost her temper. They did not need a fight to take place in front of all these horses, though he was sure the fiery hippocampus could care less and would probably snap at him from stepping in.
There was a rustle in the crowd as The Keeper finally showed his face, tattoos and all. He was holding a mug and seemed to be a little irritated at being disturbed. He called out to the crowd asking for their opinions on the matter, on which side the lot of them would take. There wasn’t much of an answer at first as the group talked amongst themselves but a small cry rang out eventually.
“Talori, of course!”
Tegan.
Miles let out a soft sigh as he realized the little pegasus was probably asking for trouble. With a soft swipe of his black tail over Joti, his quiet instruction to stay close, he approached Zhen and Ceto. “I’m normally not one to break up a fight, but pardon me, Captain, it seems our feathery problem is making decisions for you.” Miles flicked his head back to Tegan, hoping this would be enough to break the two up. “Let me keep an eye on Joti while you deal with more important matters. Your voice should be heard.” Post: 3 | Words: 426

Kraken | Rogue Captain
The Kraken couldn't help but guffaw as the door burst open, and Atlas quickly put Rhodesna back in her place. She was a spitfire, and he could appreciate that, but he always enjoyed watching an ego get reigned in. Not to mention that he had always liked Atlas' style. In the times that they had dealt with each other previously the Keeper's calm and uncaring, albeit sometimes frustrating, demeanor had sat well with the dark captain. The Keeper was one of the very few rogues that the Kraken truly respected.
Silence fell as Atlas spoke, but immediately picked back up to a roar as discussion and debate picked up throughout the crowd. The first voice to be heard above the din held that high, almost squeaky pitch of adolescence, and the stallion couldn't help but turn in surprise. He picked out the colt who had spoken - a pegasus. His eyes narrowed as he made a side note of this. But this was no time for recruiting. The kid had spunk, but didn't take the time to think.
He turned back to look up at heavily tattooed stallion. "Tell us, Keeper, are the rumors true? Have Aodh and War-forged aligned against Talori?" If this was fact it would be pivotal.
"As much as we would all hate to leave Talori," a drop of sarcasm accented his words, "If this is true then we would almost certainly have to side with Aodh. Think about it," he looked back at the crowd just briefly. But he was not interested in the opinions of the rabble. "In a battle of strengths, who is going to win? The Talorians are a bunch of peace-loving pussies, and their defenses have been more or less destroyed by the Flock already. Serorans aren't much better off. They have their Skirmishers, sure, but their numbers are low. The brunt of Aodh might all be sissies, but they outnumber any of the herds easily, and they have their pit fighters. And I don't even need to mention trying to fight the Forged." He knew that many of the rogues themselves had encountered the War-forged on their voyages, and those Raiders were nothing to scoff at. Many a ship had been lost to those hardy beasts.
"And if we're talking money, which we sure as hell are, I can't place my bet on anyone but Aodh. They are our top buyers, followed closely by War-Forged. If we side against them they may outlaw the purchase of our goods. It's possible they won't, due to demand, but that is not a risk I'm willing to take."
And I can pick up slaves anywhere. I don't need Hawkeye for that. He didn't say this out loud. While the slave trade was certainly no secret among the Isles of the Dead, it wasn't a matter of public discussion.
"Even if the Talorians win, and we have sided against them, they would be little threat to us."

"Bitch," Calypso spat back at Rhodesna, despite the retort being drowned out into the crowd. A scowl was plastered onto her face until the door swung open. Calypso had only heard rumours about the old stallion, never really thinking that she would come face to face with the infamous Atlas. Well, only if 10,000 other equines weren't blocking her way at least. She couldn't help cracking a smile and a small giggle as well when the tattooed stallion silenced the captain. In her own drama she had briefly forgotten what they were there for, before Atlas spoke up. "What say you Rogues? What herd do ye all wanna place yer bets on in the coming perils?"
Calypso's gaze narrowed and the grin melted off of her face. War, she remembered now. Talori or Aodh and the War-forged. The Rogues had once come from the Mainland hundreds of years ago, and many rogues thought of themselves as talorian. However, war was not a good thing, especially up against probably the two most powerful herds in Hireath.
“Talori, of course!” cried a young voice in the crowd, while Kraken suggested to side with Aodh. Calypso sighed, a hint of paranoia in her breath. She stepped forward and declared her thoughts. "I agree with Kraken, who knows what they could do to us! Talori is a small nation, both Aodh and the War-forged are in the millions, They'll crush us!"
"Besides, what has the mainland ever really done for the isles?"

SamaelRogue Captain - The Bloody Siren “Any damn fool can navigate the world sober. It takes a really good sailor to do it drunk.”
Sam sighed heavily, shaking his head as he listened to the answers of those around him. He held no love for the mainlanders, but he wasn't about to act like "leaving" the talori was as easy as the others were making it out to be. "Do you truly believe that this is as cut and dry as you're making it out to be? We are the face of the Talori. If War is declared, the Aodh will be against us as well. Even if we attempted to defect and explain, do your actually think the Talori will leave us alone? They could wipe us out if they wanted, and I don't doubt that they would if we sided with their enemy. Yes, they leave us alone and let us govern ourselves, but they also give us protection, as well as the majority of our exports. Sure we could find other ways of making a living, but we'd be making life much more difficult for ourselves."The captain snorted, taking a sip from his flask before turning his attention to Atlas. "My allegiance at the end of the day, good or bad, is with the Talori. Do with that what you will."
He turned to the mare at his side once more, trying to gauge her reaction to scene unfolding before her while silently contemplating offering her a spot on his crew.

The mare's brow furrowed as the stallion brought up the destruction of her ship. She could almost feel her blood start to boil in anger, the wreck still a fresh wound in her heart. Yes, she had a ship, but her new ship was still not.. the ship. The first Huntress had brought her to where she was now, and while her new ship sailed her same colors and her same name, it was still not the same. It never would be.
"Listen here, rat." The mare hissed, leaning closer, obviously not threatened by the dip of his horn. Her ears flickered as she heard the Keeper emerge, but she didnt care for that now. Her attention was fully focused on Zhen. However, before she had a chance to give the small stallion what she thought he deserved, Miles interrupted.
Snapping her gaze to Miles, she prepared to scold him for meddling in her business, but then his words began to sink in. Tegan. That little brat was always busy causing Ceto trouble, no matter where they went. Taking a deep breath to help ease her frustration, she sent a glare in Zhen's direction before storming off without another word, pushing back through the crowd to find Tegan. Joti peeked out from behind Miles as her mother passed, but chose not to follow.
The Captain stepped up beside Tegan and harshly bumped her shoulder into his, pretending as though she hadnt meant to hit him that hard before shooting him a glance with a narrowed brow.
"Talori is fucked." She said, turning her attention back to the Keeper. For once in her life, she had to agree with Kraken. Aodh was larger, Talorians were pansies; and being about as regular of a customer as a Rogue can get to a War-Forged.. Ceto knew them fairly well, and fighting against a herd literally named after war was not going to end well.
She shifted her attention as Samael spoke up, her brow raising. "Scared of a lil change in pace are we?" She questioned before turning away, addressing the crowd. "I dont know about the rest of ye, but life isnt fun if it isnt a bit difficult. My bets are on Aodh and the Forged."

// Zhen \\ ~ ~ ~
The hiss brought a smile onto his lips, pleasing Zhen quite greatly as this was the exact response he wanted from the captain. Yes, perhaps it was a mistake to anger one of the well known captains, but, all it did was give him more information regarding them. Their personalities, what made them tick... Any kind of information regarding them that he could take and store away was useful sooner or later.
He simply did not choose to reply to her now, only maintaining the calm smile on his face, even until she turned and left, sending him a sharp glare. That was quite a victory, honestly. Finally turning his attention to the rest of the crowd, he listened intently to catch as much information as he could. Ah, shame his little toying had caught his attention for a tad too long.
Flicking his ears, he cleared his throat, letting his own voice ring out, "This so-called protection that you claim Talori bestows upon us is nothing more then chains that bind a fighting dog to it's master's side by force." He paused, gaze sliding about the crowd. "We survived plenty long on our own for many years, and we can do it again, if need be. We are not Talorians. We are Rogues. Something different, something of a tougher, more wild, untamed material, much like the roaring tides that give us our strength and lifeblood."
Again, he paused, thinking for a few moments on his choice of words. "Aodh has the War-Forged on their side. Do we wish for our way of life, our home, to be destroyed by the combined forces of these two nations? Do we really think that Serora and the Talori can hold out properly against them? If Serora and Talori fall, we run the risk of falling ourselves."
"Yet, if we stand with Aodh, with War-Forged, we may have an ounce of protection that does not come with the shackles that bind us to the mainland. I stand with Aodh, with War-Forged, for they may better our fair Isles and us, the Rogues." Zhen finished, dipping his head slightly. It seemed, well, at least to him, like the majority of the equines here wanted to stand with Aodh and the War-Forged. It was a safer option. And, it had the potential to finally sever the blasted leash that Talori had put on them so many years ago. To let the Rogues be free once more.

Tegan Talori Tenderfoot
Tegan frowned up at Ceto, not from the harsh bump on his shoulder, but her decision. It was confusing to the boy, and so far, no one seemed to be making any sense besides a graying stallion laced in spots and roan, and contrary to his current allegiance, Tegan agreed with him.
"The Aodhians won't recognize us as anything besides Talorians. We're their enemy now." His voice was mumbled and flat, unsure that he really wanted to push his Captain on a matter that seemed to even spark a rivalry between the adults, yet his words were still loud enough to be heard, whether he'd planned them to be or not. Perhaps there was a bit of bravery, but it was surely backed by innocent stupidity. Tegan didn't know about the political game, only what seemed most obvious and 'right'. They'd be fools to build against a herd that they, themselves inhabited. It was either get wiped out by both Aodh and Talori or place enough bets on their homeland that perhaps they'd stand a chance against the larger herds.
He had sucked his colorful feathers close into his sides, yet his curved ears were rolled forward and facial features twisted into somewhat of a childish pout. He wasn't necessarily planning on anyone actually hearing his opinion again, he figured they heard his initial shout and that would be enough. Not to say that he didn't secretly want his entire opinion to be heard, but he knew he'd be pushing his luck. Still, the young pegasus wouldn't want to stand alongside the brutes of the Forge, and he'd heard more than a few snippets of the Aodhians' ways since arriving on the isles; they didn't seem any better. No, the boy's words were merely a smaller act of rebellion rather than a stab at too much acknowledgment, because, at the end of the day, he'd still be siding with the red, freckly Captain that stood next to him.
