Ollyn & Veles Palace Guard | Consul Member. Serenade-The-Wolf | kawaiideadpool.
Veles | Briem | Consul [To Serora]
Her golden eyes strain against the dampness that comes with being underground, and she feels as if pieces of her bangs are sticking her in the eyes when nothing is particularly messing with them. Sunken in eyes water at the stale air around her and she finds it particularly ironic that she is no longer used to the air of Briem. (Spending many moons up on the surface in sorching heat and bright rays must do that to a person, she musses.) Golden hooves click and clack against the palace walk-ways as she navigates herself through the various twists and turns- all those years a a Royal Tutor paid off in the fact that she no longer needs someone to lead her around.
Turning a corner, she isn't suprised by the guards she sees standing- finding that there seemed to be plenty of them in the walls of the palace. She passes one and then another (giving quick hello's to them both as she passes), she's grinning widely at them as her eyes water at the staleness of the air around her. Then she passes by other, and the words that fall from her mouth are untentional, but her former instructor ways slip out;
"Stand up straight, you're slouching."
At first she thinks she sounds to harsh by the way the first two guards she passed stand up a little straighter and a chuckle slips past her lips. And she has full intentions of continuing her path down the various hallways, but she can't help but look over her shoulder at the Guard- one shaved brow bone cocking up in wonder.
She certainly wasn't the High King or a commanding officer. Veles was just a woman with a strick voice, so part of her wondered how he would take it.

Ollyn || Guard
When it came to his day to day job, Ollyn's mind had a tendency to wander. To say that his heart wasn't in his job... Well, he didn't like to think of it that way, but to Ollyn, guard work could be... dull. If his father ever were to find out Ollyn's true opinion, he would be in for the lecture of his life. It was honorable work, just not the sort of work that Ollyn would have pictured himself doing.
Oftentimes, when he thought no one else was paying attention he allowed himself the leniency to think about his fondness for trinket crafting, something he'd always had a knack for. This was what he was thinking about when the spotted bay mare walked by. He was the last of the guards to take notice, something that Ollyn was instantly aware of when he found her gaze singled in on him. He could feel the attention of the other guards too, which only made the sudden nervousness he felt even more extreme.
"O-Oh, of course," he stuttered without thought, straightening into a more dignified stance in the blink of an eye.
Then he realized that he should not have spoken at all.
She had the air of a royal, the same noble mannerisms, but he knew the royals--it was his job to--and she was not one of them. Beyond that though... His training was still in the works, courtesy of his strict and overbearing father. For all Ollyn knew, she was just as important. He was painfully aware that the same awkwardness which always seemed to get him into trouble with his father or the other guards could lead to a bad impression with this mare, if his luck remained true to the normal expectations that is.

Veles | Briem | Consul [To Serora]
Long ears swivel back and she pauses in her steps. She doesn't say anything but only cocks her shaven eyebrow up in wonder as she watches him fumble over his words- a scowl flashing across her face for a brief moment as she wonders for a split second- No, she shouldn't even think that. There was a reason for him being a guard, even if he stumbled over his words.
Sunken in eyes dart around his face as her lip curls up in this thoughtful manner. She's tossing around whether or not she recognizes him- and quickly settles on the fact that no, she is not aware of who he is. (She doesn't think she ever taught him, well she could be wrong there, but even with her aging mind she does tend to remember faces fairly well.) She's almost trying to force herself to think of where she might have seen him before, but when no idea comes to her mind- she can only tell herself that maybe she was out wandering the deserts of Sedo when he was brought on.
Then she can almost sense the awkward aura in the air.
"Don't act so afraid," she chuckles, even though that might not be the correct thing to call how he is acting. A lop-sided grin takes the place of her scowl and she's practically beaming at him like a mother. Almost as if she was his mother and she was proud of him for actually listening to her, but she was definitely not of any relation to him, so she quickly tries to mask the maternal look on her, "I'm not your commander. Just helping out," She leans towards him, lowering her voice as if she was keeping a secret from him.

Ollyn || Guard Her eyes missed nothing; Ollyn quickly observed that. She continued to watch him, even after he followed her order, when normally he would have expected a noble with more important things to do to move on. He kept his chin tucked against his neck, chest strong and stance set in much the same manner as the other guards. Except they stared straight ahead, at nothing in particular, and Ollyn stared at the back wall behind the mare's ear, afraid that meeting her eye would only irritate her. Without knowing exactly who she was or what influence she he had, there was no way for him to know what sort of consequences disobeying or angering her could have. Did she know his father? It was entirely likely.
Even with these thoughts darting through his mind, her laughter brought his wide eyes swiftly back to hers. His surprise was evident in the sudden lighthearted nature she addressed him, like a mentor. Or a mother. He was close with his own mother, but accustomed to her reverting to whatever his father deemed fit. Any sort of teaching he'd had always came from the stern Halvor.
So he found himself readily accepting to this mare's shift in personality. A shy smile found his muzzle and he answered, speaking in matching low tones in hope that the other guards wouldn't take notice, "Sorry. Guarding in the palace still makes me nervous, if I'm being honest." Then remembering she had in fact just helped him, he added, "Thank you."
Her friendly, almost proud smile even drove him to introduce himself. "I'm Ollyn by the way."

Veles | Briem | Consul [To Serora]
Her lips twist even farther up into a smile as she listens to his words- taking in everything that he says with a thoughtful look on her face. "Nothing to thank me for," She tacks on, not fully ready to explain that it was just the former teacher side of her that was leaking out of her, but of course; he must be aware she must be of some importance around here to have almost free roam of the palace.
Craning her neck up at him, she grumbles something about hating the fact that she was too short, but she hoped it was spoken softly enough that it would go unheard. "Oh! Excuse my poor manners," Her voice is loud and booming, something that shouldn't come from someone as small as her, but she doesn't pay much mind to her actions as she dips her head slightly, "My name is Veles. I'm a consul to Serora." She said, blinking back the wetness that was taking over her eyes, cursing the fact that the darkness was not hurting them more than the light that came from being on the surface.
"So, don't worry. I'm definitely not your Commander," She leans in, golden eyes taking in his appearance as she tosses over her next words inside of her mind, "Or someone that deserves being kicked out. Best not to anger the King," She chuckles, head slightly tilting back in laughter as she thinks over how ironic that would be for her to be kicked out.
She certainly acted slightly crazy from time to time with how over the top she could be, but still; no good reason to toss her out.

Ollyn || Guard
Her friendly demeanor didn't stop there, and in the face of his warmth the mare seemed only to brighten. She was much more common than most of the people he'd encountered in the palace. Although he supposed the word "encountered" was a bit of a stretch. His job wasn't to form friendships here. It was to guard, and that's what he did--what he was expected to do.
After listening to her boisterous introduction, Ollyn bowed his head in greeting. A consul? Interesting. Her next joke brought a nervous laugh from the guard. She hit the nail on the head. His worst fear was angering his Commander or the King. Better that he remained in the background, where he wouldn't cause a mishap.
Seeing the attention of a few of his fellow guards shift in the direction of the small mare, Ollyn attempted to turn the conversation away from chit chat, saying after clearing his throat, "Well, Consul Veles, are you in need of an escort? I would be happy to accompany you if so."
He smiled, hoping that she would not take the formality as rudeness. The truth was he would love to get away from the rest of the guards. Most didn't like him, and the moment he'd been accepted rumors had flown from mouth to mouth. His father's good reputation with the higher ranking herd members had earned Ollyn this job, and there were few who doubted that fact. Ollyn himself knew it to be true, but that didn't mean he'd wanted the position. So the opportunity to escape the glares of his fellow guardsmen was something he rarely passed up, especially when he could actually have a conversation with someone who wouldn't judge him so readily. Not for his parentage anyway. If anything this mare only seemed interested in his manners.
