Verun|Vindicator Cadet
Verun ran happily through the forest that surrounded the underground bunker, she and some of the other cadets were playing "Find the Flag", where one of the Soldiers hide a small piece of cloth, and the cadets attempt to find it (while typically staying in view of the Bunker). Verun had separated from the group, determined to not only find the flag, but also to test out her wings a bit more.
The small Pegasi always thought flying sounded like fun, and had been spending the past few nights flapping her still growing wings around her small bedding area of the bunker, much to some of the other's dismay and delight. She had only learned recently that her wings could even be used for flying, when she saw one of the new recruits flying earlier in the week. To her dismay, her wings were currently too small to be able to lift her body, but she was happy that she could still flap them, and make it almost feel like she was flying when she jumped.
The young zorse was so distracted with her flapping, she didn't even notice that she had wondered farther away from the Bunker than she had planned.

Ravage Vagabond | Mercenary
Frosty grass crunched under the dark stallion's weight as he walked through the sparse foliage of the forest. He was just out for a walk, nothing more, though he will admit, he did m=need more firewood if his cave home was going to stay warm for the next three days. Yes, maybe he should have done that sooner rather than later, but it's not like Ravage had anything better to do. The other herds were doing a damn good job at destroying each other. So good in fact, that a Mercenary was hardly needed anymore.
Unless you were a Cultist. They liked hiring others to kill what they couldn't reach. Spreads more chaos that way or something. Whatever. He still had plenty of Shards left from the last protection detail he was employed under, so he wasn't complaining.
The distant snap of a twig caused Ravage to stop dead in his tracks. Ears prick and facing the sound, the stallion narrowed his eyes at the dark shadows that lay before him. The sun was going down and the frost had come early. This winter wasn't gonna be a particularly easy one and no doubt the more nocturnal predators of Onea's black forest would be out tonight trying to find food. He snorted, his breath leaving in cloudy puffs in the cold air.
“Fuckin' try it, I dare ya.” he mumbled to the hunter he knew was there. He could smell the Mountain Lion on the faint breeze. It was probably inexperienced, otherwise it would have stayed down wind of him. He kept walking, staying mindful of the fact that he was being hunted. It never showed itself, but it wasn't doing a very good job at being quiet. This was definitely it's first winter alone.
About twenty minutes passed and the Lion did nothing but follow him. Then another sound caught Ravage's ears. Small grunts and flapping noises, like some animal struggling. He cocked a brow at the sounds, “The hell?”
He started to walk towards the sounds but just then, the Cougar changed it's mind.
It didn't want Ravage anymore. 351 words || post 1

Verun| Vindicator Cadet
Eventually the young pegsus decided to stop attempting early flight and just started having flapping her wings, watching the leaves around her dance in the small gusts created by the tiny flaps. Her mind unaware of the world around her despite the multiple lessons of the contrary by the Soldiers and Specialists to be constantly vigilant of her surroundings and those that could harm or capture her, depending on the monsters that lived out in the world.
Unfortunately her entertainment was distracting her from such lessons and training, and she didn't notice the slight crunching of leaves as a nearby predator noticed her playing, and turned it's attention to her. She didn't notice as the wild feline started stalking the small child, as Verun started to see if she could get in the air enough to make it to a low hanging branch that had a pretty flower on it. And she surely didn't notice as the mountain lion decided that the young filly was close enough in it's range to pounce on the unsuspecting child, coming out of the bushes with a wild and loud screech that pierced through the air, much like the sharp claws could cut through the child's flesh.
It was only as the cat yowled that Verun noticed the predator, turning around in a flash towards the noise. The young zorse pegasus frozen in fear as the cat seemed to fly towards her, though (as only a child can) her only thought was Why can that thing fly when I can't? Post #2| Word Count 260

Ravage Vagabond | Mercenary
The scent of another horse reached Ravage a second after the Cougar had sprinted off towards the noise. The slightly chalky scent that accompanied most birds, mixed with an equine scent, told him that the horse was a Pegasus. That would explain the flapping sounds. The trees were much to dense to allow flight, so why would they try to fly?
Wait!
Shit, that thing was attacking another horse! Ravage wasn't one to risk his neck without being paid for it, but his better half had compelled him to do it anyways. He took off like a rocket, crashing through the shrubs and branches at break-neck speeds. He reached a small, cramped clearing just as the Cougar began it's attack.
A child.
The other horse was a child.
The dark stallion rounded on the Cougar as it jumped at the small filly, frozen with fear. The stallion barreled into it, his chest bashing it into the ground. The feline wasted no time in righting itself and lunging at him, slashing him across the chest with it's claws. Ravage laughed.
He lunged back, biting down on the scruff of the Lion's neck, sharpened teeth cut through the flesh like it wasn't even there. Biting down harder, the stallion spun and threw the Cougar into the bushes. This time the cat played it smart, running off into the forest to find easier prey.
Ravage snorted, “Yeah that's right! Run off, ya pansy!” he laughed as he spat out blood. The wound on his chest stung, but it would heal, the blood staining his white fur crimson.
He turned back to see the child, a dark brown Zebra mix with golden wings, still standing where he had first seen her,
“You okay, kiddo?”

Verun|Vindicator Cadet
Verun stood in shock awe as something else came barreling out of the woods, intercepting the giant cat before it could sink it's claws into her tiny body. The ensuing scuffle could have only lasted a minute tops, but every second of it seemed like an hour of awesomeness to Verun. The older equine practically tore at the feline, even laughing as the giant cat swiped at their chest. Verun broke out of her trance long enough to let a small giggle, almost trying to imamate the larger horse. Eventually the cat ran away back into the forest in which it came, and her rescuer turned around to her, their chest stained red by the cougar's claws having made contact earlier.
“You okay, kiddo?”
Verun couldn't help but jump up excitedly, wings attempting to flap while she nodded. "Yes! That was so cool!" She squealed gleefully. "I bet that cat won't be bothering any other horses ever again! It was awesome! Where did you learn to fight that great? I bet even some of the Soldiers couldn't do that." She said, continuing to bounce up and down. It was only her own mention of the soldiers that she realized that she had probably wondered too far away from the one that was supposed to be keeping an eye on the Cadets.
"Uhhhh," She paused, looking around the forest. "You wouldn't happen to know where the others are would you? I haven't seen you around at all. Are you new?"

Ravage
Vagabond | Mercenary
For a moment Ravage thought the filly was to afraid to speak.
For a moment.
His ears pricked forwards and his eyes widened in surprise as the small foal flapped those golden wings that were still to small to lift her even an inch off the ground.
“Yes! That was so cool!” came her excited squeal. Ravage just stared at the filly in shock. How in the God's names was she so okay with what just happened?.....Right. She was a child.
“I bet that cat won't be bothering any other horses ever again! It was awesome! Where did you learn to fight that great? I bet even some of the Soldiers couldn't do that.”
The dark stallion couldn't help but cock a brow and smile, laughing a little, “Basic self defense, kid. Out here, almost everyone can do that, not super hard or nothin'. Just gotta know how to land a solid hit.”
When she said “Soldier” it confused him a bit. 'Must be talking about those Vindicators.' he though, 'Unless they changed it around again.' He had to admit, The Flock threw him for a loop when they popped up.
He frowned a bit when he saw the filly look around, seeming to not know where she was, “You wouldn't happen to know where the others are would you? I haven't seen you around at all. Are you new?"
Others? He hadn't caught the scent of any other horse but the filly. If there were others, she must have strayed pretty far, “Nah, kid. I ain't new. Just never been down this far before.” He answered,
“And to be honest, kiddo, I don't even know what a 'Soldier' is, unless you're talking about those Vindicators. And if you are with them and live in their 'Bunker', I can't help ya. Only a Vindicator knows how to find it.”
He lowered his head, winking at her as he whispered, “It's their secret hiding spot.”
He gave the filly a small smile, “Either way, it's getting to dark to go wandering around looking for your friends. Why don't you come back to my place and rest and tomorrow morning I promise we'll go look for them. How does that sound?”

Verun|Vindicator Cadet
Verun finally stopped bouncing around, placing her wings back at her side and smiling to the point where one might think her face would split right in two, as the elder horse responded
“Nah, kid. I ain't new. Just never been down this far before. And to be honest, kiddo, I don't even know what a 'Soldier' is, unless you're talking about those Vindicators. And if you are with them and live in their 'Bunker', I can't help ya. Only a Vindicator knows how to find it.”
She had remembered that the Soldiers had told her that before. That no one but the other Vindicators knew where they lived and they needed to keep it that way to keep everyone safe and to continue doing their job rescuing horses that couldn't rescue themselves. The larger horse broke her thought train as he lean down and whispered, “It's their secret hiding spot.”
The young Pegasus filly giggled, nodding her head, as he offered for her a place to stay for the night, as it was starting to get dark. She nodded again. "Sure mister..." She trailed off, realizing that she didn't know his name. "Mister sir! I can't see in the dark too well, and that big scary cat could come out again too!"

Ravage Vagabond | Mercenary
He couldn't help but give the filly a warm smile, but it was short lived. His face fell when he thought about what those Vindicators might turn this gentile filly into. They'd start her out with the basics of strategy. Playing games that required her to think her way out of the situations. Then they'd move her onto beginner battle techniques, slowly but surely graduating her to the more advanced sets.
They'd make her a killer.
It was unavoidable. You needed to be ready to kill if you were going to be a Vindicator.
'But they won't teach her everything.' He thought. These ass-holes out here fight dirty. They don't follow the same morals as the Vindicators or the Flock do. This filly was unbelievably lucky he wasn't a Cultist. She would have been dead on sight.
The filly's talking shook him out of his daze,
“Sure mister... Mister sir! I can't see in the dark to well, and that big scary cat could come out again!”
The dark horse laughed a bit, motioning for the filly to follow him with his head, “Name's Ravage, kiddo. C'mon, my home's back this way.” he said as he started walking into the woods the way he'd come, “Stick close. It's getting colder out, might wanna keep those pretty wings of yours closed to keep yourself a bit warmer.” he instructed as he heard the tiny hoof-falls following him. He only noticed just now, but he dwarfed her. Her ears didn't even make it to his shoulder, only reaching the top of his foreleg. Hell, his HEAD was probably half the size of her torso.
