Gemstone and Yoru ✦ A Private Roleplay ✦
The location of the roleplay is in Nariah. G E M S T O N E ✦ Breim | Uncut ✦
"A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials." ~Lucius Annaeus Seneca ✦ It was meant to be a small vacation. The Starlight Rest Inn was closed, Alba telling her granddaughter that they would be going to the capitol for a little while. And boy was Gemstone excited. She had never been out of Sterling before, and she was looking forward to seeing how the Capitol looked in comparison to Sterling. She had been told stories of the gemstones that made the entire city glow with an ethereal light. The light of the stars from the skylight wasn’t very bright, save for the occasional moon that passed overhead, so Gemstone was keen to see how different Sirith was in Nariah.
Naturally, before the two went on their journey, they had packed their things, clad themselves in their finest cloaks and set about to pray. To Argus for his guidance, to Kaia for her courage, and to Alya for her strength, the mare and filly knelt down before their family shrines. Alba lead the prayers, but Gemstone was eager to have her voice be heard by the gods. She even slipped in a thank you for taking care of her deceased family.
And soon, the duo was off, walking down the tunnels and through the numerous caverns that made up Breims’ home. The various Guards did their job well, to ensure that no one unauthorized went down the wrong tunnels. But Alba knew where she was going. It was many years since she last visited Nariah, but she remembered it as if it were yesterday. It would be a test of strength on both the old donkey and the youthful filly.
Gemstone was not happy about the long journey, but once they entered Nariah, the wait and effort suddenly became worth it. Emerald green eyes were wide, and it took Alba a few gentle nudges to get her granddaughter to move again. Gem had seen large crystals in Sterling, but nothing compared to seeing the cavern before her. Although by all accounts Sterling was a city, Nariah was a kingdom. There were hundreds of horses, common, unicorn, pegasi, and more. There was so much to explore, and Gemstone was dancing around her grandmother instantly, pleading to walk around and look at everything.
“Behave yourself, young lady. I’ll be in there.” The filly paused only long enough to glance at the tavern and inn where they were apparently going to be staying for the duration of their visit. She looked up to her grandmother who quickly nuzzled her cheek, a gesture that the small zonkey was quick to return.
“Love you, grandma! I’ll be good!” Wheeling around on grey hooves, the black and white child galloped off into a random direction, her purple cloak billowing behind her as she ran. Alba watched her granddaughter with interest, before shaking her head and calling out after her.
“Don’t lose your cloak!” A smile formed on the pale donkey's' lips before she retreated into the inn.
Gemstone tossed her head, slowing down as she neared groups of other equines, haggling or showing off their goods. Nothing quite struck her fancy as her eyes wandered to the giant, glowing crystals above.

The small broken winged pegasus had been told by his care taker Doev to try a day out in the town on his own. Get his hooves wet and see how the day went. Yoru had disagreed strongly, going so far as the 'lose' the harness for his wing and pretending it hurt more then it actually did. The king's Guide of course saw through these actions with a smirk of his own and found the harness within a flick of his head. Yoru wasn't the best at hiding things it seemed.
So without any more stalling the young royal was pushed gently out the door and left to his own devices. Little did Yoru know, Doev actually had a guest coming over, Nuriko, another of the King's Guide's to discuss the current chain of events. The young colt was none the wiser to the plight of the scaled kin of Ignacio. Much less that they even existed. With the door closed and nothing else left to do, the small equine slowly ventured out on his own, for the first time in so long.
He kept mostly to the shadows, evading the public eye and watched the happenings from afar. His gaze took note of conversations, the way eye contact was broken quickly, how their heads remained level and the conversations calm and sweet. Not once did he see anger rise from anyone and the pegasus started to shrink. Why had anger been such a thing for his whole life? With a small sigh he started to walk again, head low and long straight bangs dragging on the ground.
It wasn't too long after that that the small pegasus felt the body of another literally trot right into him. With a gasp and a cry the little pegasi was tossed onto his side, his bad wing side and instantly felt the tears fall as white hot pain scored through the limb. Good wing flapped, frantically to try to draw him back onto his feet. "W-why would you do that?!" The colt cried, looking with anger and hate at the other creature before dual colored eyes took note of her form. A small equine, just like him and almost instantly ears flattened.
"I-I'm sorry... I-I didn't mean to yell..." He stammered, voice much softer as Yoru quickly tried to wipe tears away with his front knee.

G E M S T O N E ✦ Breim | Uncut ✦
"A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials." ~Lucius Annaeus Seneca ✦ Gemstone was rather sheltered. Or perhaps she was just flat out ignorant to what was happening to some of Hireaths equines. In fact, she had never even seen a kirin before, and likely wouldn’t think they existed anymore until she saw one herself. And how absolutely interesting that would be, too! But at the moment it didn’t even matter. All that mattered to her at the present moment was the beauty of Breim’s capital, glittering underneath the thousands of enchanted crystals that jutted out of the caverns walls. She could easily weave in and out of the larger equines. Even when you were looking up, you could still see the bodies larger than you. But with her head tilted so far up, she didn’t see the one creature who was just about her size. If she had only looked down just then, she could have possibly skidded to a halt just before she ran into him. But one thing about Gemstone was that she was extremely clumsy; fast but a klutz. Even though her trot was enough to send the other equine to the ground, she managed to keep her balance with a flurry of dance steps. Knocked out of her reverie, Gemstone’s emerald green eyes were wide with panic. She had been moving fast, but she didn’t think she was going fast enough to actually cause an actual injury. What was worse, it was only a few moments after she was told to behave. How in Hiraeth was this behaving? The berating that followed from the other youth was enough to make Gemstone shrink. She wasn’t a stranger to anger from her peers, though she hadn’t expected such a thing to happen in Nariah. She stared at him in and shock, and awe, willingly waiting to get scolded further; even if he was just about her age. But it didn’t come. His voice and expression changed from angry to apologetic. The zonkey was confused, it was her fault after all. Why was he apologizing to her? “N-No, don’t be sorry. I wasn’t watching where I was going.” She moved slightly closer, her ears pinned back worriedly. “Are you hurt? I hurt you didn’t I? I’m so clumsy.” Panic began to well within her. Not even ten minutes in Nariah and she was already making a fool of herself. She wasn’t one to cry, but she had quite obviously done the worst thing possible, and her grandmother would be extremely disappointed. With tears starting to well in her eyes, the little equine continued to dance about nervously on her hooves. “Is there anything I can do to help you? M-maybe we can find a Monk…” And as nervous and scared as she was, she was still in complete awe. He was a pegasus. Only one of the most beautiful creatures to roam through the subterranean world of Breim. And that wasn’t all. His eyes were two different colors; blue and red. And without another thought, she was speaking again, reverently, with her gaze turned down. “You’re eyes...like a ruby and sapphire…”

Tears continued to fall as the white hot searing of the bones in his wing settled. The harness did its job well, probably enchanted with some sort of numbing or cooling aspect but Yoru didn't know for sure. Doev had merely put it on him one day and told him it was a gift. But now, that gift was keeping the wing from actually stretching and settling. Shaking, the pain still more then the little colt could handle he looked at the zebra filly. She had moved closer.
Before the colt could tell her not too she was staring into his eyes. Yoru's own eyes where wide, staring back at her in shock. She was so close. In his space. Good wing flapped and the young royal quickly back pedaled, hair falling in front of his red eye, ears flattening more. Words left him, unable to think of something to say. Why was everyone so focused on him like this? Head dropped lower and he staggered with a small hiss as pain throbbed through the appendage again. "C-can... I get your help?" He gasped out suddenly, tears falling from pain and frustration then anger.
Had to allow her close, had to let her in. Body shook at this realization but the colt needed the pain to calm. Where was Doev when he needed a shield, a rock, a shoulder? Looking at the small equine before him, his brain still had trouble taking in her uniqueness that he was sure he would find rather pretty if his wing didn't feel like it was on fire. Eyes closed tight and he used his knee to jostle the clip on his chest. "C-can you undo t-this for me?" Yoru's voice was strained, for obvious reasons, and it shook almost with every word. His Teke was too hard to use in these sorts of situations and now it was to that point he could barely stand.
When and if Gemstone stepped close, to get a better look at the clasp, Yoru would turn his head and practice some breathing techniques that the king's guide was working with him on. Good for anxiety and pain, he had said. It seemed to work now as Yoru waited for the bindings to come undone. In through the nose, out through the mouth, deeper, longer. Fill up your whole body, pretend you are floating...

"A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials." ~Lucius Annaeus Seneca ✦ She didn’t mean to stare. But heterochromia was something new, at least in person. And his eyes were indeed beautiful. Though she had a deep respect for the etiquette in Breim, part of her didn’t understand it. Eyes were beautiful, and she felt like they should be looked at. Especially eyes like his. She felt she could stare into them forever, imagining that they were polished gemstones the miners could find in these very walls. But before she knew it, it seemed like he was trying to get away. Staring wasn’t good, she knew that, and she snapped out of it when his good wing flapped as he backed away. Jerking her head up, her large ears back, she patiently listened for him to speak again, to get some kind of scolding or something, which he eventually did. She couldn’t tell what he was feeling exactly, his voice thick with pain, but his plea was enough to set her into immediate action. She screwed up, and she was going to do everything in her power to make it right. And if this was the first step, how could she say no? Moving close, though not as quickly this time, she used her teke to undo the clasp of his harness, as requested. Seeing how much pain he was in made it understandable that he was unable to call upon his own power at that moment. But it didn’t bother her, regardless of her error, she would have been more than happy to help him. And he definitely needed it now. As she undid the clasp, she noted how his wing was settled. She wondered how it had already been injured, and felt remorse that she had injured him further, even if it was just an accident. She ignored the fact he was looking away from her as she worked. She figured he was pretty upset, rightfully so, and had to deal with the pain in his own way. Looking at her probably didn’t help, seeing as she was the one who caused this. She wouldn’t just let the clasp fall loose though. With every bit of her power she could muster, which wasn’t very much due to her age, she kept the harness from simply falling free, which she thought could cause even more harm to him. “W-Where should I put it?” She asked nervously, struggling with her teke, ready and willing to be at his beck and call. “I-I’m so sorry.” She repeated, truly hoping he could find it in himself to forgive her...eventually.

As the harness was pulled off him Yoru let out a pained whimper, feeling the limb fall limp to the ground and lowered his head, tears falling more. But the muscle cramps had stopped. Now, it was just the pain of the bones shifting and moving and the tendons being disturbed. Breathing hard he gestured weakly to the ground. "T-there is fine..." Legs shook, showing how much strain the pain was really putting him through. Watching the clasp be set down he then regarded the filly before him.
She was unique, that was for sure. And while he had been nothing but rude to her, here she was, still trying to help him. Ears swiveled to the side, swallowing hard. "S-sorry... B-but can I ask you for more help...?" He needed to stretch the wing but the muscles did not exist to do it himself. Head lowered more before he looked towards the appendage and let out another shakey breath. "C-can you... G-grab the main bone furthest from me a-and slowly lift it while p-pulling even slower away from me...?" Had to stretch it. He only hoped the small zebra mix would be braze enough to try. Otherwise he would need to find a guard and get help going home. Pleading eyes watched her, doing everything he could to hold still and not seem daunting or demanding.

"A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials." ~Lucius Annaeus Seneca ✦ Slowly, Gemstone lowered the harness to the ground. She breathed a bit labored for a time, regaining her strength. Her eyes were glued to his limp wing, chewing the inside of her lip with her front teeth. How could a pegasus get hurt? Was he trying to fly? The very idea that someone, other than herself, had injured him, was preposterous. Perhaps he had got caught in a cave in. She barely suppressed a shudder at the thought, her mind going to her deceased parents momentarily. Her ears flicked forward when he started talking again.
“Of course.” She felt a little relieved to have him asking her for help instead of telling her to go away, the latter feeling like she would have been worthless. But he was asking her, of everyone. She listened to his inquiry, and for a moment she simply stared at the wing. He wanted her to do what? Her eyes flicked from him to his broken appendage and back, settling on his eyes for a short period to catch the emotion.
He was desperate. She was sure what she was about to do would help, but also hurt. It didn’t seem right to have someone as young as herself doing what he asked, but she had to do it. Giving him a nod, she slowly went towards his wing, observing it. She wasn’t quite...sure where the bone was, but figured that if she at the very least lifted his wing and gently pulled it could suffice.
The broken wing began to glow a vibrant emerald green, which would in fact match the color of the fillys eyes. Gingerly, Gemstone used her teke to delicately lift the wing. Even more slowly, and with the utmost care, the wing was slowly pulled away from the colt.
“Tell me if it hurts and I’ll stop.” She said, her brows furrowed from focusing.

His whole body tensed. But it was hard not to, given the circumstances. Doev was barely allowed to touch the wing and now this stranger, another child, he had to have her help... Swallowing hard he widened his stance and looked down at the ground. Yoru had to stabilize himself, ground himself, or he would just fall over. Panting, forcing his breath to slow down he felt the weight of the wing leave the floor. Wasn't so bad...
Then, as Gemstone started to lift it more, slowly pulling the appendage away from him, did the small black colt start to feel the burn and the sear of the muscles too weak to stop cramping. After a few more centimeters of pulling the colt gasped out. "S-stop... H-hold it there... P-please..." He was sweating but clearly whatever gemstone was doing as working. When the muscles could no longer be felt screaming under the flesh and bone, Yoru relaxed. "Y-you may put it down again..." His voice was less strained, even though the colts body continued to shake.
After getting her help to put the harness back on the young royal looked at the filly and lightly touched her wither. "T-thank you... For helping me. A-are you hungry? We could go back to my house and I can see what we can find to eat. D-do you have a favorite food?" Clearly Gemstone had gained the small colts trust and now he wanted to pay back the favor she had done for him.

"A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials." ~Lucius Annaeus Seneca ✦ Gemstone carefully noted Yoru’s posture when she started to touch the wing. She’d be ready to jump and catch him if he fell again. She couldn’t bear to see him hurt anymore than he already was. It just wasn’t fair to him. She had to be gentle, she had to be delicate. To cause more pain would just make this effort be in vain. And that wasn’t how the little filly wanted things to go down.
When the boy told her to stop pulling and to hold his wing in place, she did as she was told. Her entire focus was on keeping her teke in check and make sure she didn’t screw up. It felt like an eternity, holding the limb in place. She wasn’t sure if what she was doing was actually helping. She felt that if she were in his position, she’d be screaming her little head off. She pitied him greatly. If only there was a monk or a doctor...or someone around that could do more than she was currently doing.
At his next comment to let her put the wing down, she did so, albeit very slowly. The girl couldn’t help but observe his wings. During the entire commotion, she had momentarily forgotten what he was. A Pegasus! The feathers looked so soft to the touch, and they shimmered as if there were millions of tiny sapphires making up the filaments of each feather. He was one of the most beautiful pegasi she had ever seen, and she had seen many by now. She wondered if he realized his beauty, and if he did, did he ever get sick of people like her ogling him.
Shaking her head quickly to herself to banish the thoughts, the girl assisted her companion with getting his harness back on. She had expected him to simply thank her and go on his way, but found herself both surprised and touched at what came next. A touch on the wither and an offer to go to his house. She looked at him wide-eyed for a moment, before quickly remembering her manners and casting her eyes elsewhere.
“I...I really appreciate the offer…” She didn’t want to accept the offer because she still felt bad. Regardless if she helped him, she was still the cause of that momentary agony for him. He was a special soul for even offering. The girl looked back towards the inn they would be staying at and thought about her grandmother. The rules were already set for her, so she could literally wander until the time she was supposed to return.
On the other hoof, it would be extremely rude to refuse, wouldn’t it? Breimians were all about etiquette. To refuse would definitely be rude. Besides, she had the opportunity to make a new friend on better terms than when they started. That settled it. She would go. Offering Yoru a smile, the girl decided to start over; a proper greeting was needed. One little hoof extended and clapped against the ground between them.
“They have seen us meet.” The girl smiled. “I accept your offer, but first, my name is Gemstone. What’s yours?”

At first the small pegasus thought the little filly would try to excuse herself from his offer and the colt's demeanor started to sink. With each moment of silence that passed between them, he felt his world crumbling. Why would she want to hang out with someone who yelled at her, who was a shame to even exist. A pegasus who couldn't even fly... Ears flattened and those dual colored eyes looked away. He didn't even see her smile until the tiny hoof tapped against the ground.
A formal greeting?! Head perked up and Yoru stared with wide eyes and a splayed stance in his front feet met her eyes, like a deer in the headlights. Clearly surprised. After the greeting he heard her accept his offer and the good wing flapped excitedly as he did a little rear and pranced in place, showing a happy side to himself. Clearing his throat he suddenly blushed and looked down. "i-I'm Yoru... They have seen us meet." He tapped his hoof as well and then gestured with his head towards the city. "Gemstone is a very pretty name..." The colt whispered with a blush as they started to walk back.
A guard suddenly rushed up to them, clearly out of breath and bowed before the pair. "Prince Yoru! I finally found you, Doev of the king's guide would have my hide if I didn't escort you around like I'm supposed to!" He panted, head dropping low to the ground as he kept himself lowered before the pair, mainly to the young royal. Yoru's wing flapped in surprise and he lifted one hoof before turning his head away. "i-I would be fine! I-I don't need to be baby sat!" Though the more the two spoke, the more the equines started to talk around them and Yoru felt his spotlight fear start to consume him. "T-take me home then... Gemstone is my guest, she is coming with me." With that the Trio started forward, towards the smaller palace and Yoru kept his head low, forelock dragging on the ground as other equines whispered and bowed at their passing.
He was no royal worthy of this...

"A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials." ~Lucius Annaeus Seneca ✦ Gemstone had to hold in a little laugh at his surprise. It was honestly rather cute. It was even harder not to laugh when he showed his very obvious happiness at her accepting his offer. She didn’t want to be rude, especially since he so kindly invited her to his home. So she simply smiled, her emerald eyes twinkling to show that she, too, was happy.
He them returned the greeting, and Gemstone nodded her head, which was more her way of accepting the gesture and ending the greeting. Yoru was a very nice name, the tone of it sounded very Nariah to her. The filly felt her cheeks heat up at the mention of how her name was very pretty. She had rarely heard many, especially boys, say that to her before. Without any prompting, the girl moved to follow the boy until a Guard rushed over to the pair of them. Panic flooded through her body. Had someone reported that they had an argument? She knew very well that arguments in public were NOT to be had. Even though they did not have a spat, they did...sort of make a scene. But what the guard said as he bowed to them, made Gemstones veins fill with ice.
Prince Yoru.
PRINCE. As in Royal Family of Breim. As in related to the High King.
By the all seeing eyes of Argus, what had she done.
Not only had she run into an injured boy and further injure him, but he was a member of the Royal Family. If her legs weren’t frozen to the ground, she would probably have bolted. Well, probably not. She knew better than to run away from her problems, but she had committed a crime!
The rest of the Guards words didn’t even reach her. She was in such a panic that she was just simply waiting for the mention of her crime. But it didn’t come. In fact, Yoru made no motion that anything had even happened between the two. The only thing that drew her out of her panicked state, was the fact that her companion seemed to be withdrawing into himself, and that the other horses that were witnessing this new event, were whispering.
Gemstone was an only child, and would forever be one. Never in her life had she felt particularly defensive about anyone before, mostly because either was she being defended by someone older or...well, there really wasn’t much strife in Sterling at all. Even for the bullied kids in school. It was all brief, mostly. But at this moment, with Yoru withdrawing from the eyes and whispers of Nariah’s inhabitants, the filly felt protective over him. Royal or not, he shouldn’t have to feel like an expensive vase on a pedestal to be looked at. And it came as very ironic for the zonkey, that that was exactly how she was treating him upon meeting.
Disgusted at herself, and at the other people around them, she moved closer to Yoru to provide some support for him. At the very least she could block him from one side. If she were a pegasus, she would put her wing over him and block him as much as possible. Perhaps it was from the damage she had caused him, she wasn’t sure why she felt so strongly. It was all so fast though.
“Don’t worry Yoru.” Was all she could really manage to say to him, offering him a smile and desperately trying to get him out of the shell he pulled around himself.

Ears continued to flatten, feeling the eyes as if they where rocks being hurled at his form. The whispers cut like ice through him, driving the little pegasus almost mad from the shear noise. Though as Gemstone's words hit his ears and she stepped up to his side, he manged to snap out of it just enough to lift his head and look at her with the bright light blue eye. She was like a light in the darkness that Yoru felt was swallowing him whole. With a small noise he weakly pressed his forehead against her shoulder, spreading the good wing up to hide the action from prying eyes.
It felt like much too long before the Guard was escorting them through the large finely carved gates of the smaller palace. The ground here was polished smooth stone that seemed to glisten like calm water. It reflected the gems glistening in the ceiling and looked like stars beneath their feet. Yoru had seen it much too often to really take note of it anymore. He'd grown up here, it wasn't new and shocking to him. As the door to Doev's home opened, the colt stepped inside and shook, clearly trying to rid the stress of the walk.
"Sorry... I should have told you earlier, but I... I didn't want you to treat me differently..." Looking away, his long bangs hid the red eye, clearly something he did often before he stepped into the kitchen. Doev's home was simple, with a darker tone to it all. A thick rug was placed before the fire and the couches where littered with pillows and blankets, looking almost like a nest. There was bookcases full of books and oddities, filling the home with an almost museum look to it.
Yoru emerged from the kitchen shortly after with a purple blue fruit in his Teke. "This one's my favorite. It looks like this on the outside, but inside its pink and green!" Splitting it gently, he showed the filly and offered her a piece. It would be sweet with a small hint of tartness.

"A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials." ~Lucius Annaeus Seneca ✦ Gemstone mustered a smile, particularly at the moment where her new friend pressed his forehead against her shoulder. If she was giving him even a little bit of comfort, then that was all that mattered to her. Her focus was on him and him alone, not even giving the onlookers the pleasure of seeing her own discomfort due to their stares. For all they knew, perhaps she was royal too. No, that was probably too far-fetched. She kept her gaze forward, though head tilted ever so slightly towards Yoru so the boy knew he had her absolute attention despite where her eyes were looking.
Yet at the moment the trio came to the gates of the palace, Gemstone felt her breath catch in her throat.
Sterling was beautiful in all of it's natural glory, the stone walls spotted with gems, the skylight letting in fresh air and sunlight and moonlight. The rivers and waterfalls that filled the city with the constant sound of rushing water.
But this? The stylistic artistry that the youth likened to a jewelers work though on a much larger scale. The floors were polished to such a smoothness, the girl almost thought she were treading through still water without even causing ripples. As she gazed below her, she could see the reflection of the gemstones that hung delicately from the ceiling, and for a moment she felt a little dizzy. It was almost as if she were looking down at the Skylight in Sterling. Shaking her head from the sudden vertigo, she continued to follow the Guard alongside Yoru.
A door opened, and they were lead through. Before she could even comment about the Palace, the boy spoke. She looked at him as he spoke, feeling a pang of guilt. But she had treated him differently. He was a pegasus, and pegasi always earned her affections, even unwanted. Swallowing, she once again smiled gently.
“You’re still Yoru to me. Royal or not.” She felt that was the best thing to say, and she meant it. Nothing really changed other than simply knowing his rank. While Yoru stepped into the kitchen, Gemstone moved over to the fire and looked about the room. It was extremely cozy and she could easily imagine herself curled up on one of the nest-like couches reading a book. She looked back around to her friend when he reentered the room, moving back over to him to observe the fruit he had with him.
“I don’t think I’ve seen this fruit before.” Rarely a picky eater, the filly thanked the boy when he offered her a piece of the fruit, marveling in it’s extraordinary color scheme. Popping the piece in her mouth, she savored in the sweetness, barely even noticing the bit of tartness it offered.
“Mmm...this is really good.” She said after she swallowed, not wanting to be rude. “What is it called?”

Yoru watched almost nervously as the filly took the piece of fruit. He really hoped she would like it. Head lowered the longer the silence hung, a foreleg starting to lift in his nervous gesture. Though when her voice filled the space, ears flipped forward and the young pegasus beamed. Prancing up to her another piece was offered. "I think it's called Kiwana..." Head tipped, hair cascading to the floor as he thought about it for a moment and then nodded. "Yup, that's the one." Smiling again he then looked around the room.
"Oh... Yes, so... This is where I live. Doev, the King's Guide is my guardian right now, so I spend time with him here. There's... Another one here sometimes but I don't see them often. I don't really go anywhere but here in this room, the kitchen, the bathroom and my small room." He walked calmly up to the bookshelf and stood up on his hind hooves to reach the higher shelves with his teke. "Do you like books?" He really hoped she did. Most of his home life revolved around them and he wanted so badly to share his favorite one with her. It was rare, non-existant, for the small colt to share anything with anyone.

The girl smiled when she saw how pleased Yoru was that she liked the fruit. And she didn’t need another invitation to take another piece when offered it. Chowing down, she listened as the boy told her the name of the fruit in question. Kiwana? She waiting until she was done eating to speak again.
“Kiwana? I don’t think I’ve heard of it before... My grandmother doesn’t get many exotic fruits for the Inn back home. Well, that’s assuming Kiwana are exotic anyway. I never really paid attention to the merchants in Sterling unless they were Jewelers... But I might have to convince her to get some more of these to have around our house.” She chuckled merrily and followed her friend's gaze as he looked around the room. She wondered if she would be meeting Doev herself, or the other individual Yoru spoke of, and hoped that he wouldn’t mind, a commoner like her, being there in his house.
Soon enough, The boy had gone to the bookshelf in the room and was searching for something on the higher parts of the shelf with his teke. Standing behind him, she flicked her ears forward as she watched him retrieve what he apparently wanted to show her. In this case, she figured that it had to be a book. And moments after the thought, the boy confirmed her suspicions. She laughed, standing back to give him room.
“I read from time to time, usually before bed or during meals if my grandmother if working.” She flushed a bit in realization to her own tastes. “Though...most of the books I read are just about different gems and crystals. Does that count? I want to work with jewels and crystals when I grow up.” She laughed sheepishly, shifting on her hooves, anticipating what exactly he was going to show her and how he was going to respond to her possibly odd interests.
