J A D E War-Forged
......
It'd been a month since she went on that mission up the mountain. A month since the discovery of a new equine-made tunnel attached to the mountain pass up Skeldr. A month since she watched blood be split by sentient weapons, and a month since a precious life was stolen right before her eyes.
If Jade had struggled to sleep before, it was nothing compared to now. Insomnia plagued her sleep, strengthened by the haunting images of blood pooling at her hooves, the sickeningly smooth sound made by the axe penetrating his fleshly throat; the strangled cry that bubbled from Liam's lips. It was an endless cycle. Repeating over, and over again within her mind. Never faltering in vividness.
Even though Liam's death was the most vivid scenery in her mind, she never could completely shake the sound of bone being shattered easily into tiny shards. The sudden fall of the Valkyrie made Jade's stomach churn, nausea blooming in gut. But she fought it off, becoming accustomed to its frequent presence in her life. Remembering it also brought forth the thundering wail Otama had released when it happened, anguish lacing it.
With heavy eyes, an abnormally loud yawn escaped from the mare's mouth, as her sleep deprived brain blocked her filter to have some public decency. She was in town after all, making her way slowly towards the Valkyrie barracks. Since the mission, she hadn't ever checked on how the others were faring afterwards. To caught up in her own well of misery from the event. Hopefully, they might be better off than her.
Hopefully.
