Deidra
Perhaps being born blessed would allow her to be more religious, but she found the Gods cared little for the affairs of mortals here. Yet here she was, walking to one of the lower ranks of the Sanctum, to afraid if she was seen within the higher ones, others would ask and question her motives. That heartless bitch prays? she could hear their whispers. Bet she prays for more money, or someone to love that cold heart. Maybe wash away that sneer of hers. It wasn't as if she had no heard it all before, but no she cared little for such things. She got her job because she worked hard, she knew the trade, she was good with her money, because unlike many here she didnt spend it as soon as she got it. Deidra shook her head to clear her mind of such things. Deidra should not lower herself to such things as others mindless thoughts and rumors.
The reason she was heading to Vatros Sanctum, she just needed to pray. Pray and clear her mind, well clear her mind and perhaps find a reason for herself. One might notice the huge impacts on her earlier life had always been to make money, from taking the business from her parents and working with the Kirin touched genetic line in her slaves. She was a proud slave trader, but this past year was one that should be glorious. Deidra had sold a slave to the King! The king that was now dead and her former slave? Gods save the soul if she was dead. But no it wasn't just that, that made her wonder what she was doing herself, but for the mere fact twice in her life she had set slaves free. What the literal fuck was she doing?
From freeing Vagabonds from being burned alive in her own city, she was set up for a trial and luckily for her money talked and she was able to slide out of that. Enough so her reputation was not ruined and that was what she cared about. Yet of course there was another chance to gain slaves and thus thwarted again. A raging Volcano erupted, and somehow she got wrangled into saving all those slaves with the help of others. She could have taken a few for herself. It would have been so easy, yet... She didn't she helped the team save them all. Has her older age finally softened her heart? Gods be damned she thought bitterly. This was why she was coming to this Sanctum for the low and weak. For truly she felt it in her heart, what was she even doing in her life anymore. With some coin she would offer something perhaps the Gods would show her some sort of favor instead of forcing her to twist her mind in half with choices.
Finally she reached the Sanctum and glanced around from one of the workers in hopes she coudl drop off her donation and pray in peace. The price of coin could surely allow her some sort of answer as well as peace of mind. Though the more she glanced about, a sudden scowl was on her face, her mask hardening on her face as she went into her neutral look of resting bitch face. Gods have mercy she thought.

Bale It was exciting in many ways to be at his new job. He was both nervous and proud, and trying to keep his cool. He kept an eye out for anyone looking like they needed help, especially medical one. So far it had been pretty quiet, and it was easier to take all the stares when there weren't quite so copious amounts of horses around. If pit fighters were star athletes, he was suddenly like an A-level celebrity. On his free time he had practiced his gaits and poses so that he looked collected, and not like the mess he really still was. He was here to provide safety and aid, so it was his duty to look like the part, too.
When he saw a new horse enter, he moved closer to the entrance. He was about to ask if help was needed, but the first thing to have him hold his mouth was the certain look on the horse's face. And then Bale recognized Deidra, his ears pinning for a short moment before he caught himself. He was here on a job, his personal opinions should not, could not matter. Instead, he withdrew to the side and took his place. He stood still, not very much unlike the Ignacio's effigy itself.

Deidra
Her eyes scanned the small crowd that laid before either being cared for with their wounds or others that merely came to rest and pray. This was foreign territory to her, for she was never the type to visit the temples, she much preferred to remain at her own estate to pray to her God. Still she was here and she felt like a stranger stepping into someones house, and unwelcome guest. Deidra had half a mind to just drop her coins and leave, let some scavenger take it, this was a waste of her time. She was about to turn to leave, until her eyes laid upon him.
What the seven hells! She thought, as her face gave nothing awya of her being shocked, besides the mere brow rising upwards in a questioning manner. Was that truly Bale? She hadn't seem them since the ash. Gods that was a terrible time, but he was not well this. She noted his scales and horns, rumors had spread of kirins, but Deidra had never laid eyes on one until now. How could things have changed so much in such a short time, what the hell was going on? Deidra took a slow step towards him, her head tilted curiously on her side. "Bale?" she asked as if not really believing what was happening before her eyes.
Bale was a kirin? But he was a pitfighter, a horse. Now he has scales, and horns, and not with his master, or lover? Were the two still together? Deidra snorted a bit, who cares about that, she thought angrily to herself. There was more to this story then meets the eye, but still she looked to Bale wondering if he would respond. Perhaps this was a trick of the eye, maybe a sign? If so this sign was terrible and she clearly should have stayed home. Deidra wanted to glance around, but felt if she drew her eyes away from he, that he would vanish that it was all just a vision of the sort. So instead she waited for the creature to respond to say something. Gods don't let her be drugged out or drunk. Not that she even indulged in the stuff, but how else could she explain what she was seeing right now.

Bale Bale was avoiding staring at Deidra, while she did exactly that - something Bale was getting used to already. He watched more from the corner of his eye, only turning towards her once she spoke. His slitted, amber eyes were void of emotion - he didn't feel anything appropriate for a sanctum helper, so it was better to hide those feelings altogether. The only thing revealing any sort of irritation was the tip of his fluffy, long tail - it swished from side to side, tapping against the grey marble as it went. Bale was convinced the tail had entirely its own emotions, for he couldn't seem to control it at all times. Not even most of the times, really.
"Yes. Can I help you with something?" he asked calmly, almost silkily, his antlered head slightly tilting towards one side in a questioning manner. Obviously he was something unheard of, and it was no wonder Aodhians were confused. Bale attempted to mimic the Flamen Ulysses to the best of his abilities - be calm and welcoming, no matter what came. He appreciated the chance to work here far more than he disliked Deidra, and he wanted to act like it, too. Maybe one day it would come naturally. He hoped.

Deidra
A snort escaped her nostrils as she watched him, watch the way he acted so courteous except for the ever flick of his tail. Deidra relaxed her position, but her face ever having that annoyed look on her face, one that showed she was truly done with everything and everyone around her. "My, have you moved up in the worlds." she remarked coolly. "Who thought a slave could rise so high. Ignacio must be proud." she remarked with a hint of curiosity, but she cared little for asking. Let the fool have the attention and what came with it. It seemed to do him enough then save him from a life of being a slave.
"I've come like much like the rest. I assume you have not been in your occupation for long?" she remarked. Her words cut like a knife she would never yield. "Im here to give a donation to this sanctum as well as seek some answers for myself. Perhaps you can show me about, I have not ventured in this sanctum before." Deidra eyed him once more before looking away, she had her fill of his looks and that was enough to unsettle her stomach. perhaps it was a mistake to come here, but she didnt need answers of the sort. A reason for things, though her donation was of course a bit in good will. She knew this sanctum was not the best and what money they were given was given to help those in need. Deidra may play a heartless bitch, but she was not a complete one.
