Merrill | Empress
The halls were empty, still, as if the wing of the palace as dissipated into nothing and left but a small winged filly in its wake. Around the girl gathered a nest of pink satin, swallowing her small frame and threatening to engulf her forever. Merrill could not have cared less if she disappeared. In fact she prayed for it, for Ignacio to take her away from this place: from the terrible angry mobs outside the palace walls and the horrifying demons who slept within. ‘Brother, what have I done to deserve this?’ The thought repeated against her mind, interrupted only by the vivid memory of that day.
A clap of lightning broke the filly’s vision, a short reprieve from the nightmare that seemed to last forever, but that too was short lived as the image bore its way back to the forefront of her mind. As any child cooped up inside, Merrill had longed to get out and see the city and what better time then when the holidays rolled around? It would be her and Hawkeye’s first outing, her introduction to life as the Talori Empress. Beside him she stood, head held high as she matched the stallions every step despite the eye’s that bored through her skin. She remembered her heart racing, anticipating the grand ceremony that was to come; to learn more about the herd she now called home.
And it came
The details were foggy, overshadowed by imprints of a small pegasus filly, a sword, and blood; ...so much blood. It seeped into her room and trickled across her slender shoulders. Every night it woke her, terror pressing against both her sleeping and waking hours. The first couple nights, the servants had come running to her bedside trying their best to sooth her screams of terror and the tears. By the 5rth night though, it was clear little could be done.
Hawkeye had not been to visit since and whether that was because he was busy with the riots that lined the streets or because he knew his presence would bring her no comfort, she was not sure. There had been no reaction in the Emperor’s face as the child died and while the crowd yelled and screamed angry words, none of them moved to stop the horror before them. Was this part of Talori life? Could she, one day, take the foals place? An image of herself flashed across her mind, small hooves caressing the edge of the cliff as Eve stood against her back. She could feel the cold steel of the blade resting against her skin. It would take but one swing.
A knock at the door broke Merrill from her nightmare and carefully she lifted her head from the tear-stained pillow. She would not bother to wipe away the dried salt that stuck to her cheeks, they would only return with the tears. “Come in.”

Odette | Concubine
'This shouldn't be my job.' Odette thought bitterly, flinching slightly as a flash of lighting illuminated the empty hallway. Thunder followed soon after, the only sound that seemed able to drown out the sound of her own hooves clicking against the floor with each step. 'I'm a wife of the Emperor, not the royal babysitter!' She snorted aloud as the thought sprang forth, feeling rather insulted that this is what she had been tasked to do instead of getting to be by her husband's side. Odette sighed as she turned a corner, her legs carrying her where she wanted to go automatically; seven years of living in the palace really came in handy when she wanted to let her mind wander while still going somewhere.
Where she was going on this particular day, however, was just about the last place she actually wanted to be, but seeing as she hadn't seen the young Empress all day she figured it would be a good idea to make sure the little brat hadn't keeled over and died since last Odette saw her. Just thinking about Merrill made Odette's stomach turn for reasons that were not entirely the young filly's fault, and the red mare found herself vaguely wondering if there was still an angry mob flinging death threats at the Empress standing outside the palace. The sacrifice had been...interesting, to put it in the nicest of words. Odette, while she supported the important tradition of the sacrifices, had never really had a taste for the violence of the action. She often would find herself looking away when the chosen pegasus would have their wings removed, but this time she had watched, in perhaps morbid fascination, as the filly's wings were severed from her body and she threw herself from the cliff side. In all of Odette's twenty-five years she had never seen a pegasus so young be used as a sacrifice, but she wasn't sure what that meant to her, or perhaps what it should mean.
Odette stopped short, now standing directly in front of the young Empress' room, only a door between her and the child who had somehow managed to worm her way into a higher standing with Hawkeye than her despite being what? Six, Seven, years old? Odette honestly didn't know and she cared about as far as she could throw the filly, but seeing as she was tasked with looking after the child she would do her job, if only for her husband. With a sigh, Odette raised a delicate hoof and knocked on the door.
"Come in." Came the reply and Odette opened the door slowly, sticking only her head in at first before the rest of her body followed. It took her a moment to actually locate Merrill under the pile of blankets, but even after she spotted the filly the hippocampus mare remained on the far end of the room.
"Greetings young Empress." Odette said, her tone dry despite her forced smile, "Is there anything I can do for you?"

Elora || Concubine
Elora walked carefully down the empty hallway, her nerves entirely shot by the past week's events, the eerie stillness of the palace, and the raging storm outside. She could not help but but pause and peek around every corner and pillar she passed before continuing on down the corridor just to make sure no fiendish assassin or other less foul meaning horse was there. It made the sound of her hooves on the stone floor rather halting and completely lacking in the rhythm of her normal stride. The thunder claps outside seemed more steady. The only thing that had been able to prompt her out of her own quarters was the need to see to the young Empress. The buckskin mare had never felt particularly maternal towards anyone, having no younger siblings to look after, but after even a short time with the little pegasus, she had found herself growing somewhat fond of her, if not attached. She still felt very awkward around her husband, but also wanted to please him and helping to look after Merrill would do just that she was certain.
Finally she made it down the hallway, but paused again, finding the door already ajar. Her ears perked up in fear and while her sense of self preservation was kicking in to over drive she was still concerned enough for the Empress for it to fight through her apprehension enough for her to plow through the door way, tensing up and preparing to kick anyone inside who might be there to do her harm. Instead she began to feel rather silly, seeing only Odette inside the room with Merrill still nestled in her satiny pink nest. Standing up straighter and feeling herself heat with embarrassment at abandoning her social graces rashly in front of not only the Empress but a fellow concubine, Elora shook her head to toss her mane back and cleared her throat.
"Empress. Odette." She said with a nod to each of them. "I apologize for the intrusion. Is everything alright?"

Amara | Concubine | Talorian
Amara had gone missing once again, somewhere within the palace limits as usual. She was wandering the gardens, avoiding as much contact with the other concubines and the empress as she could. The last week...What a mess. A child sacrificed, funny how it was a pegasus. Oh if only it was that little ball of blonde that was the empress. Bah! The striped mare shook her head in anger at her thoughts, huffing heavily and letting her shoulders weigh heavy... No need to act regal, no need to act for anything right now whilst you're alone. Standing in her tracks, she grumbled under her breath. She had left tending to Merrill as late as possible, to the very last moment before she could really get in trouble for neglecting her duties. Amara hissed, better get this over with.
The crackling of the thunder couldn't stir a feeling within the mare, not a spark of fear or excitement. This was a time for solid focus. Regardless of how much she despised the other Concubines or the Empress, it could offer her a chance to get on Merrill's good side, in favor, anything really. She rolled her eyes as she glided through the halls of the grand palace, not a sound from her hooves, not even a breath. With her tail bellowing behind her, she turned sharply and ascended the floors. When she reached the Empress' quarter's, she walked in without making it apparent she had arrived. Amara stood silently, looking at the other mares with piercing amber eyes.
"Evening ladies," Amara said simply, there was an odd warmth to her tone. Non-threatening and in fact...Rather welcoming. Contradicting the cold look upon her face. A loose strand of curl fell across her eyes which she immediately rid from her face with a sharp whip of her head.

Merrill | Empress
They slipped through the door, one right after the other, each concubines figure a picture of grace and dignity. They were perfection and beauty and no less would be expected of them: the Emperor's wives. And she, the small child huddled beneath the mass of pillow and satin blankets, cowering like a slave who had done wrong. Had she done wrong? Was this per punishment, to be sent here where children died by the sword? What would be thought of her now? Her mother, her brother, they would be so disappointed. She was to be counted on to keep relations with Talori balanced but how could she now, as the monsters stared at her from across the room.
The empress was to be above them, these mares who were hand chosen for their flawlessness, a six year filly whom their command was to fall to. Merrill was fully aware of the whispers behind her back, pretending she had not heard and did not care. They hated her, well most of them anyway. She couldn't particularly blame them either but after what she had seen, the girl was unsure of what lengths they would take. If only they knew how much she missed home. How she would have loved to give them back their place beside Hawkeye.
Hawkeye. His name rang in her head. He had always been so kind to her, despite his obvious unsuredness about her presence. Oh she had picked up on that too but never in a million years had she dreamed her world would turn to this. She had trusted him, despite the tension that soaked his coat, but now, she was not so sure. With subtly, she readjusted herself amongst her hoard legs tight beneath her small body ready to jump and run at a moments notice. "Why do you come here?" She kept her voice even, swallowing the fear that made her wing tremble. She could not show weakness in front of them. That was one thing her mother never let her forget. She was royalty and one day, her strength would have purpose. "Did Hawkeye send you? I did not ask for visitors."

Odette | Concubine
Oh great, just perfect, now the whole gang was here. All Odette had wanted to do was make sure the stupid fledgling brat was still breathing and not assassinated or lynched yet, she never asked for literally everyone else who was even still in the palace to come in uninvited as well. The red mare hardly managed to hold back her snort of distaste, especially when Amara walked in. Elora, Odette could deal with, the buckskin mare wasn't unpleasant --despite being, as Odette viewed it, 'competition-- but Amara just grated on her nerves like nothing else.
Her attention was drawn back to the young filly on the bed once more as she spoke, Odette wanting to roll her eyes at the Empress. 'Who else would have sent us?' She thought, almost angrily, still bitter over the fact that this was what she had to spend her time doing.
"We aren't visitors," She said, her false smile falling slightly, "we're here doing a job. To make sure you're not dead." She said, seeing no reason to lie to Merrill --she was old enough to be told the truth. There was another flash of lighting and roll of thunder from outside, making Odette twist her head around to look back at the still-open door. She turned around and walked back over to it, sticking her head out in to the empty hallway. It was eerily silent other than the continued sounds of the storm outside. It sent a shiver down Odette's spine, as she ducked back into the room, closing the door as she did so. She considered, for a moment, locking it as well, but really she was just being paranoid, they were safe within the palace walls --nothing could harm them here, or at least the dark mare hoped so.

Amara | Concubine | Talorian
Amara seemed disinterested by the other mares. She had no quarrel to start or any reason to look at them, they were not her focus as of this moment. She approached Merrill with her ears flicking forwards, observing how the filly was cuddled away inside her mess of satin and pillows. Amara listened to Odette's words, nodding in agreement for once. Her smile dropped as her brows knitted together in worry. "What she says is true, I am sure you are aware of what has recently happened. It is for your own safety, we do not wish harm to come to you nor does his highness." The striped mare swallowed and glanced at Odette, lifting her head and turning her attention back to Merrill. "We shan't be here long, once this blows over, you can return to...Well, whatever you usually enjoy doing." She shrugged and looked over her shoulder, watching the red mare close the door. With a heavy sigh, Amara closed her eyes as she smiled once more. Another bolt of lightning split the sky with a heavy rumble to follow, Amara's ears flicked in the direction of the window.
"Y'know, if you're bored...We can always play hide and seek in here. Unless you want to remain in silence."

Elora || Concubine
Elora was a little startled by Merrill's reaction to their arrival. Sure, there were times when one needed to be alone, but she could not imagine a six year old filly not wanting company especially at a time like this and with a raging storm brewing outside on top of everything else. Clearing her throat she stepped forward a bit, not wanting to crowd the little empress, but very much needing to reassure her they all meant well. Even if some of the other concubines were a bit sour about being pushed aside somewhat by a child, it was important for them to look after her nonetheless. If anything happened to her because of one of them there would be nothing they could do or say that would make it right with Hawkeye.
"We have to make sure you are okay." The buckskin mare added, nodding her head at Odette and then Amara. The click of the door closing made her hair stand on end somewhat, but she could not have said exactly why. When Amara suggested the game however, she couldn't help but smile. That seemed like the right way to bond with the filly, and she herself had never actually gotten to play the game as a child.

((Sorry it took so long to reply, loves <3. It's been a hectic week))
Merrill | Empress
There was a stillness in the air, one that even the wrath of the storm could not overcome. Each second ticked by like shallow breaths, ebbing the life from those that stood in the small room. A game? A this hour, at this moment? The filly knew it was Amara's attempt at passing the time but really, it seemed half hearted at best. 'But..' thoughts churned in the child's mind. If she played her cards right, maybe, just maybe she could escape. She could ride herself of this place, return to New Valore despite what her brother might say. He would not chastise her for escaping the grips of death...right?
"Ok," a small grin splashed her face. "But we shouldn't stay in here. The room is too small for all of us to play." She would take her chances; now or never. Neatly, her thin frame hopped from the bed, pale wings tucked neatly into the corners of her shoulder. Her stride was small, hesitant, as she approached the mares just enough to stand before them; lighting illuminating her in the pale blue room. Only now could she sense their worry, not for her but for what lay beyond the castle walls. It drenched their coats like a heavy rain, touching all but their perfected-fake smiles.
"The hall has much more space and hiding spots! Lets go there." She would not wait for their reply. Squeezing behind Odette, Merrill easily unclipped the lock opening the room into a vaster, emptier world than she remembered. With the wing vacant, they were free to spread out. The soft clips of her hooves against the smooth tile echoed through the hall, only reiterating their aloneness. This might be easier than she thought.
Spinning on her hooves, she turned to face the concubines once again. If only they knew. Would they be overjoyed or struck with fear? After all, Hawkeye had commanded them to watch her. A smile crossed her lips at the thought. She was no ones puppet.
"Let's play a game!"

Odette | Concubine
A game? A Cascade damned game? Odette barely restrained herself from flat out kicking Amara for the suggestion, and then had to fight the urge to strangle the other mare when the little brat actually took her up on the offer. One look at Elora's face told her that the buckskin mare wasn't exactly about to argue against it either, making Odette clench her jaw in frustration. Was she the only one who just wanted to stay here and WATCH the damn bird for Hawkeye like they'd been told to?! She watched Merrill passively as the small pegasus marched herself out of the room, but as soon as she was out in the hall Odette glared daggers across the room at Amara,
"Hide and seek?" She hissed, "Hide and seek? We're supposed to watch her, not purposely lose her!" the red mare didn't wait for a reply, however, turning and trotting out into the hallway.
"Merrill, sweetheart," She called out to the filly, "Perhaps we should play a game in your room instead, we are supposed to be keeping an eye on you, we just don't want you to get hurt." Odette felt slightly ill at saying the words, though she forced a warmness, a genuine (or at least genuine enough) concern into her tone. As much as she may like to see the brat gone, she knew any failure on her part would hurt her relationship with Hawkeye and she did not want to see seven years go down the drain because one little fledgling decided she wanted to play hide and seek.

Amara | Concubine | Talorian
"You'll hold your tongue, Odette." She replied sharply, her head raising and ears twisting to almost flatten against her neck. "I suggested playing it within her room but you let her get out, at least I was making an attempt to raise her spirits rather than being a miserable fart. Like you." Amara rolled her eyes, laughing as Odette left the room and addressed Merrill as sweetheart. Oh really? She glanced at Elora and gestured with her head to the door. "Well go on then. After her," Amara let out a sigh and grabbed one of the satin sheets off from Merrill's bed, dragging it after her. The small mare began to trot, the hallways seemed even darker than before....Definitely not a good idea to have the filly playing out here. Amara stared at the filly watching them, why was that smile so precious and so innocent. Guh. Or so she thought. Amara bolted forwards, tossing the satin over the filly without much chance to get away in hopes of 'catching' her. She then gasped. "Oh my goodness! Where could she have gone?" She stepped around the satin and nudged the small from of the filly, quite harshly in an attempt to make her fall over. Amara then looked back at Odette, sticking her tongue out at the stroppy thing. "Do please listen to us, Merrill. We need you to remain in your room, your actions can cause us to get in trouble for just looking out for you...When I suggested the game, I merely meant within your room. It is plenty large, we are all small enough to hide as well... If not? I'll tell your brother you're disobedient." Amara flicked her tail in one large swoosh. Did...Aodh still have connections with Talori? Did those two even speak to each other? Family were a sensitive topic to anyone...Right? Mentioning Hawkeye seemed far too drastic and mean. Amara stared back at Odette for some sort of support, wishing she'd at least help out.

Elora || Concubine
Elora started to open her mouth to protest their argument, but closed it out of self preservation. There had to be a better way to get the two mares to be more civil towards each other without directly asking for it. She hated to view Merrill as a tool, but her oh so important relationship with Hawkeye had proved to be more useful than the small mare had ever imagined. Clearing her throat she started to follow the other two concubines out of the door, one eyebrow raised in confusion as Amara paused to collect a sheet from the filly's nest. "Keep your voices down. Merrill already doesn't seem to like us - what if she hears you two bickering like that? Hawkeye won't be very pleased about it." She added throwing their shared husband's name into the mix for effect. As she entered the doorway herself she put her face back into a smile for the little pegasus' benefit. At first she had been on board with this game, but in Merrill's presence the hallway suddenly felt very exposed and unprotected, especially after being shut in the room for however brief a time.
"You do have a lovely room." Elora said softly, looking over her shoulder at the slightly ajar door, suddenly looking at it as a portal to safety. It was only fitting for the Empress to have a room befitting her station, but Elora felt the smallest twinge of jealousy; Merrill was only a child after all, even if she would grow in to it later, she seemed not to appreciate the comforts she had here. "I wouldn't mind hiding in there just to get a better look at it."

Merrill | Empress
The filly was caught off guard as her world suddenly went black, the soft push from Amara sending her feet off the ground. She landed with a small thud against her wings, struggling endlessly to free herself from the sheet in a panic. There would be no escaping tonight, she relented settling to simply freeing her head from the warm entanglement of the cover. Merrill felt defeated, her heavy sigh relaying her relentment to play by the concubines rules. The filly did have to admit, they didn't seem like they wanted to kill her...not yet anyway. Had she misunderstood this whole affair. The thought made her wilt inside, confusing endlessly growing as it overwhelmed her young mind.
"Fine..." her small body struggled from underneath the sheet as the others began to make their way back into her room. But fate was to have other plans. A crash vibrated through the hall, one that distinguished itself from the thunder that raged outside. Merrill's head turned to see two figured racing down the hall toward her, each cloaked in a dark robe like shadows slithering from the night's grip. The filly stood, frozen with both curiosity and fear. Her instincts told her to run, a mouse chased by a hungry cat, but still her hooves would not lift from their spot.
The night was only just beginning.

Odette | Concubine
Odette rolled her eyes when Amara 'captured' the Empress with the sheet, though she had to admit it was an effective strategy. She raised a brow as the other mare gave her a look, 'what do you want me to do?' she thought, not sure why Amara was looking to her for support, they were hardly on friendly terms. Even so the red mare moved forward to stand on Merrill's other side as the young pegasus struggled to free herself. Odette even considered helping the poor thing after a few moments, but almost as though the thought itself had done enough, the filly's head soon became visible. Odette held back a sigh at the brat's "Fine..." as she turned her head back to gesture towards Merrill's room,
"Now, come on, let's go ba-" She was already taking a few steps back towards the room when a crash rang out through the empty halls. Well, not empty anymore if the cloaked figures charging them were anything to go by. Fear gripped Odette's chest like a vice, and for a moment she stopped breathing, but then her legs were springing into action. 'A weapon, I have to find something I could use as a weapon' She thought taking a leaping stride towards the room, but pulling up short when she noticed the Empress seemingly frozen in place.
"Oh Cascade help me," She muttered before yelling, "MERRILL!" She hoped her voice would be enough to snap the idiot out of her stupor, or that one of the closer concubines would have enough sense to grab the child.

Elora || Concubine
A strangled sound escaped Elora when the hooded figures appeared, her inability to tell anything about them making them all the more ominous. From this distance all she could see were there shadowy shapes; whether they were pegasi, hippocampi, or anything else, stallion or mare was entirely unclear to her. Her gut told her the most definitely did not mean well and that she should run, but her eyes quickly turned to the little Empress still tangled in the silken sheet. Amara and Odette were both closer to the filly, but the raging adrenaline now racing through the small mare's veins made her faster. With her heart pounding she leaped forward instead of away like she really wanted to, moving around the far side of Merrill and hopefully blocking her from the attackers' line of sight. She lifted one pale hoof to step on the edge of the sheet and nudged the filly harder than she normally would have with her muzzle to get her moving back towards her room. The would be cornered there but they could at least lock the door and be safe until a guardian or someone more qualified than the collection of concubines came along to help them.
"Merrill, move!" She cried desperately above the crash of the thunder, pushing her again and dragging the sheet away with her hoof to keep the filly from tripping over it as they went. The sound of the cloaked figures' hooves reached her flattened ears now but she couldn't bear to look over her shoulder to see how close they were now; she was already scared enough without watching them coming closer with every hoof beat.

Amara | Concubine | Talorian
Amara's head snapped round to stare at the figures who had burst in down the hallway, her eye's widened and she stared at the small filly. She then stared at Odette taking off, not quite sure what she was looking for or whether she was fleeing. The small mare's attention was brought back to Elora and Merrill when one of the figures had reached them, Amara's ears flicked forwards in attention. "Ah! No!" She yelled in shock as the figure reached for Elora's withers, their teeth grazing over her fur but Amara charged forwards and body-slammed the intruder in a panic, making a small garbled screech. Amara wasn't quite sure what hurt more, the impact or tumbling to the ground in a flail of legs but either way, she could feel her ribs throbbing in pain as she tried to take in a breath. Winded. Guh. Her knees scraped against the cool ground, the other horse bellowing in anger. "Get off me!" Amara paid no attention to the other assailant flying past after the other mares. She was locked on this one, hoping like hell a guard or something would show up. She wasn't a fighter, she only deemed it 'smart' to try and get Elora and Merrill some time to get back to the room.

Merrill | Empress
The sudden jolt of Elora's push snapped the child back to reality, hooves flying around her and shattering the pristine tiles of the hallway. Merrill let out a squeak of surprise, turning to run back to the safety of her room but it was far too late. Pulling away from one of the concubines, a dark shadow moved itself between her and the open door. The filly could now see the gleam in the stallions eye, a wry grin fracturing his face as he stared down at her before lunging forward.
With a yelp, Merrill spun on her heals and raced down the hall, her pursuer hot on her tail. He snapped wickedly at her hind quarters, just barley clipping the tips of her pale wings as he did so. The child's heart raced, anxiety clouding her mind as she pushed herself: faster, faster, FASTER. Tiny lungs heaved with exhaustion but the fear kept her moving. If only she could find Hawkeye, the thought pressed against her skull. Only hours before she feared the Emperor, her trust in him shattered and spilled like the sacrificial foal she had watched die that day. But now, only now did she understand how much she needed the Warlander's security, his protection.
"Help!" She cried, hoping beyond anything else Hawkeye would hear her from another wing of the palace. As she came upon a corner, she turned sharply causing her tiny hooves to slip and slide against the smooth glass floors. Her impact with the floor knocked her breath away, wings splayed to try and cushion the blow. It would be her only mistake. A sharp pain shot through Merrill's extended wing and into her shoulder, a small cry her only response. No matter how hard she tried, she could not pull her wing from beneath the stallions hoof.

Odette | Concubine
Odette was rooted in place as time seemed to slow down as the figures reached them, and she couldn't help but to cry out in surprise when Amara tackled one of them. The action, though, startled her out of her frozen state and pushed her into action. Seeing Elora helping Merrill, Odette had planned to turn and get ready to lead the way to somewhere safe but just as she had been about to turn she heard the cry of "Help!"
"Cascade please help me." The red mare breathed as she launched herself forward towards the figure who stood towering over the small pegasus. Odette was unsure on what she planned to do about the attacker, but had always been good at improvising --she'd figure something out. Probably.
That something came in the form of a decorative vase sitting elegantly atop a table, the pristine --and she would know, she had dusted it herself only that morning-- porcelain glinted in the light of another blaze of lightening, catching her eye. Without thinking Odette lift the vase with her telekinesis, and hurled it with all the strength she could muster at the attacker's head.

Elora || Concubine
Elora felt brief relief as Merrill moved away from her towards the room, but let out a noise more from being startled than from the pain as one of the strangers snapped at her. It would have been much worse had Amara not struck the attacker herself, surprising the buckskin mare all the more. The sheet from Merrill's bed made her slip across the slick tile floor knocking the air from her lungs, just in time to watch the little pegasus race back up the hallway. "Merrill!" She cried after the Empress as one of the hooded figures chased after her. Thankfully she felt the rush of wind passed her as Odette pursued the attacker, leaving her and Amara with the other. Fear had the mare frozen where she lay, watching the flailing legs of the other concubine and the stallion on the ground. It was the most frightening moment of her life in quite some time, but with the stallion already on the ground the mare was able to force herself to her feet, kicking free of the sheet and stomping over to the attacker. Careful to miss Amara she lifted a hoof and delivered a sharp kick to the stallion.
He gritted his teeth a bit and narrowed his eyes in growing anger, but otherwise seemed unaffected by her offensive attempt as he started to regain his feet. Gasping, Elora backtracked a few paces before leaning forward and snapping at the stallions face with her teeth, nipping hard on the point of one of his ears. It wouldn't do much to subdue him, but she hoped it would hurt enough to distract him and buy the concubines and the Empress some time for help to come.

Amara scrambled to her feet as Elora caught onto the Stallion's ear. She was panting, her mane had fallen loose and coiled in her face with her amber eyes shielded by the mess. She squinted, struggling to look through at the poor filly who was pinned to the ground. Amara lifted a leg to dash over to help but thank Cascade that Odette had smashed a vase over his head. Amara couldn't help but let out a ridiculous laugh, cutting herself short however as she cleared her throat and twisted back to Elora and the other stallion. With a snarl, Amara leaped for the stallion's throat and locked her jaw around his windpipe. Her teeth sank into the soft flesh with the taste of iron filling her mouth. It was a familiar taste, nothing she hadn't tasted before back in her youth... Amara closed her eyes as a shrill cry filled the hallway. Amara used a leg to kick out at Elora in an attempt to push the young mare away and drag the stallion down with her weight. The gargling of blood within his esophagus sent shivers down Amara's spine. She hoped she didn't seem too beastly but it was the only way she could really think of lessening the problems of the intruders. Amara let go once the stallion was on the ground, stumbling back as her eyes shot over to Odette and Merrill with the final intruder.
