Shasta [ post # 1 || word count: 280 ] |
Shasta stared at the painting above her bed. A stallion reared, his long golden mane flowing behind him with his long blue cape. He smiled valiantly, striking at the sky. The painting had been above her bed for the last three years, undisturbed. Still, she noticed the birch wood frame was drying out and faint spider webs were beginning to stretch across the canvas. She knew she had to clean it herself if she wanted it to look perfect, like Kibo had been. It was the last thing she had left of him.
Carefully, the bay and grey mare climbed onto her bed. Her telekinetic powers had never been the best, so she tried her hardest to lift it off of its hooks and lower it down slowly. The painting was massive, taking up most of the wall, and in a heavy wood frame too. She slipped, the weight of the painting falling against her. Ever so gently, she leaned it against the wall and stepped off the bed, seemingly in the clear as she picked it back up to lay it down for optimal cleaning. Slowly, she swung it so it was facing the right way. The corner of the frame clipped a vase, and it toppled to the ground, shattering into a thousand pieces.
In her distraction, Shasta lost her grip and the heavy painting fall against her. She stumbled to the ground beneath the heavy portrait, quickly becoming pinned between it and the wall. She screamed in surprise, landing with a thud. If Kibo could see her now, he would be dying with laughter.
"I can't look at the stars, they make me wonder where you are." |
