She was one for subtle decadence, to splurge with care to maintain a vital air of humility. Her mind is whirring machine and the world around her is a chessboard, each move a calculated risk that is made to reap a benefit. Her every step seems to become a tactical decision nowadays. Aesvir surely would be smiling upon the name she has carved for hersef, for the persistence that has brought her to where she is now. Skadi does not linger on thoughts of her deceased father, for there is something more pressing and vital at hand. She carefully sets out a table with a simple, but expensive, tea set with the piping hot liquid contained in the ornate teapot… A wedding present. A bitter taste lingers in her mouth and she steps away from the table to take one last look at herself. Blonde hair falls freely and her tail slowly touches the floor. There is a slow nod before she turns in a flourish of blonde hair and goes to lay out carefully arranged sandwiches. On the surface it was a pleasantry, a cordial invite for two members of the court to get formally introduced but Skadi is never so simple. She paces the table and casts a glance towards the door and her eyes narrow slightly. Once that door opens the fray will begin and it will be time to gauge this fellow king’s guide and garner whether she has found an ally or if there is an obstacle that might obstruct her goals. Unity is one of her tenants but she will not kneel and she will assure that this Nuriko knows that she is a valuable ally or a formidable foe. With nothing but the silence of her thoughts, she waits for any noise to announce his arrival.

NURIKO
His morning had been relatively quiet, peaceful even. The herd was still afraid, still scared. But today, today was his day. A day for himself to do as he wished and the roan unicorn wished to spend it getting to know the newest member of the King's Guides. With a small breath he unfolded one perfectly thin leg and stood. Muscles bunched and flexed, driving the other to stand. A door slid open infront of him, his teal teke driving the object away from its usual resting place. The unicorn would dress himself in his robes, iconic to his essence, but also for warmth. He knew little of how the mare kept her estate and he knew some who preferred the chill of the caves.
Nuriko did not.
The fire within his home was almost always lit, casting it's glow over everything within reach. He used magic to make sure it never turned red or orange finding those particular colors unsettling... except for recently. Head shook and he drove the light colored kirin from his mind. Mairon was not present and he needed to keep up his charade. For the herd. For the kirins. Or else he could not have a say in how they would be handled, dealt with. With a small breath the fabric of his garment was lifted and fasted over his form, laying perfectly on his hide. Another breath and after checking himself twice in the mirror and saying his own prayer to Argus, the unicorn was off.
Hooves barely made a sound on the rock floor leading to the other guide's home. He stepped softly, perfectly manicured hooves settling down in precise steps. Upon the door he stood, head lifted and hoof raised to rap against it's surface and sound his arrival. Mane was braided up and out of the way, eyes liddled and posture relaxed and tense at the same time. Just what sort of creature could be behind this door...

Skadi can hear the knock. The bells toll and it is time for her dance to begin. She steps towards the door with a slow step and then opens the door for her guest. Slowly a smile forms on her lips but it doesn’t quite reach her eyes. “I can only presume that you are Nuriko,” she says, her voice honeyed and sweet. With a spare beat she studies the stallion, taking in the clothing choice but offers no comment. Skadi then gestures for the man to enter and steps back so he can step into her home. The house is clean, near spotless with a subtle extravagance to it but within a proper amount to give an illusion humility. Her colors are neutral, gravitating towards white with an occasional splash of a pale blue and grey. There is no fire, but it is well lit with a soft glow. “Why don’t you follow me to the table? It’d be so unfortunate for the tea to get cold,”she coos and turns to start walking. She leads the way from her entry way and through the den, which is furnished comfortably but with the same sort of hidden expense. The dining table is laid out neatly with the food displayed in a rather lovely and meticulous layout with two cups and small decorative plates laid out as well as an array of light, snack type foods. “Take your pick of anything,” she says keeping her tone light though she keeps a careful, calculating watch on this stallion. “Perhaps you’d like some tea?”

Time. It was something the king's guide treasured. So this also proved to be another trait the unicorn could stow away in his head. Within a few moments of the knock, the door slid open smoothly. An action not born of haste or disinterest. An action the guide saw fitting for a creature born of perfection. Which was what Skadi was as her form bleed through the door and into his vision. A mare of soft hues with pronounced but elegant horns upon her face. It took the guide a moment to gather his thoughts and realize she had spoken. Without missing a beat, Nuriko dipped his head briefly, oh so briefly, as an acknowledgment for greeting him. "Yes, you are correct. You are Skadi, a unique name. They have seen us meet." His hoof tapped on the ground twice but he did not bow his head lower then her own. They where the same rank and she was new. Nuriko held the second highest sonority within the rank.
After the informal greeting, the unicorn followed the other into her abode. The place was spotless, as it should be considering the help was more then happy to help out with that. But her gentle home filled with white and blues made the guest feel much more at home. He adored blue, it was after all his favorite color. Slowly, gently he took a seat at her table, admiring the placement of the fragile items and the treats she had adorned it with. "Tea would be lovely. It would would be a shame for it to become cold." He answered softly, teal Teke slowly lifting a short bread cookie from the platter.
"Thank you for the invitation, Skadi. It's... Beneficial if the guides all come to know one another instead of hold their odds against each other." Why not start off with the elephant in the room. She was after all eyeing him and learning him. He might as well do the same.
